Sylvan Realm #36 (#80)

December 7th, CR 571 or Deepnight 29th, 20,519 AP

The Coalition relaxes and celebrates their victory over the HIVE at Karn's Keep.

Lord Sharadin has revealed his plan to not only recover the body of the Argent taken over by the HIVE, but the other elves slain as well. He plans to summon an Earth Elemental and have it bring the bodies out. The elemental can move through earth as if it was not a solid object. This should work in theory. Plans are made to try this out in a few days once the situation with the slavers is over.

Once back at Karn's Keep, Lilia announces that tomorrow is a free day for all. Talen suggests returning to the Lost Valley and Lia readily agrees. Lord Sharadin and his daughters are also invited to go along. In fact, they will travel there on the Lady Iris as the Archmage was planning on taking it to the Elcadan area tomorrow.
Lilia wrote:“Your assistance would be most appreciated, Lord Sharadin,” Lilia states in a pleased voice. “However, I do not see just how you could reach Desnae on your own. But, we plan to be at the Shillesta the day after that. Perhaps you could reach one of the Pillar Artifacts and reach the Elder Ruins on your own?”
Talen wrote:“How far away from the ruins we just left is Elcadan?” Talen wonders. “We could get dropped of there and use the Pillar Artifact to return to Shillesta.”
“Over a week away on foot,” Lord Sharadin notes, “but for the Lady Iris, not far at all. We could drop you off there. My final destination is not far from that area anyway.”

“Kylie could also just Teleport to Karn's Keep,” the twins note with their way of alternating speaking. “She's done it before.”

The elders had mental powers, abilities that they could do with just their minds and wills.
Onas wrote:The couatl's sibilant voice sounds both strange and yet beautiful to the elfin crusader. "These are the same type of powers you wield, Quirin? And Talen has them too?"
“Yesss,” Quirin confirms in regards to his own special abilities. “However, young Talen doessss not ssseem to posssesss them. At leassst none that I can sssenssse.”

Lothtor has returned to Karn's Keep. Healers there restore him to full health. Lothtor now seems more full of life and is his old gregarious self.
Onas wrote:It is good to see Lothtor returned to full health once again. Still, sometimes the emotional and mental damage can be just as debilitating as the physical -- and far harder to heal. "How are you feeling now, Lothtor?" Onas asks during the feast. "You appear to have recovered well."
“I am well,” Lothtor says with a smile. “I prefer to talk my way out of trouble. Alas, all that black dragon wanted to do was maul me.”

Later, Lothtor approaches Lilia with a request to join the elves when they return to the Elfholds.
Lilia wrote:Lilia is momentarily surprised by the request from the Steel Dragon. “You would be most welcomed to spend time among us, Lothtor. In the proper form of course.”
“Not an issue,” Lothtor answers. As he speaks, his form wavers and shifts. When finished Lothtor looks much like he did before, but now has elfin features. He is shorter than he used to be as well. “Will this do?”

The elves are reunited with Myev in her tall blue elfin form. Myev says that she's been studying the navigation charts for this part of the world and is ready to fly the Sunflower back to the Sylvan Realm.
Lilia wrote:“That's wonderful, Myev,” Lilia happily tells the tall elf. “You'll have your chance tomorrow to do so.”
“Sounds like fun!” Myev says excitedly.
Kylie wrote:Kylie is very pleased to see Myev again and gives her a big hug. Apparently she has spent much of the time with the maps and has learned a lot that will be helpful in piloting the flying ships. "Myev, it is so good to see you! Have you joined the mage guild here? There are many tomes and spell books to learn from."
“Hi Kylie!” Myev says excitedly. “There's a mage guild here? I was busy with the maps to even notice.”

While eating the feast Lord Sharadin had prepared, Myev notes that traditional elfin food doesn't appeal to her.
Lilia wrote:“Then, if I may ask, what do you consider normal food for yourself?” Lilia wonders.
Myev thinks for a moment, as if trying to find the words. “We usually eat meat, but meat that has been marinated in a variety of herbs and fruits,” Myev will say. “The meat ends up very tender and sweet.”
Onas wrote:At one point during the feast, Onas notes Myev sitting and talking with a couple of the others. Though he doesn't know her well, he eventually makes his way over and offers greetings to the unusually-tall elf. "Hello, Myev. How are you doing? What have you been up to during your visit here?"
“Oh, hello!” Myev will say to Onas. “I'm sorry. I don't remember your name. My heads a bit messed up! I've been studying maps so that I can navigate the Sunflower back to the Sylvan Realm. What have you been doing here?”

After dinner, the elves start to go their separate ways. The dwarves, however, are opening up another keg of ale and have started to sing songs. The singing of drunk and near drunk dwarves is a horrible thing to hear. Many of the elves make their way to the mage library to study. Several of the couples spend time together.

December 8th, CR 571 or Deepnight 30th, 20,519 AP

Next morning, the elves wake and make their way back to the meeting area of Karn's Keep. Lord Sharadin had promised that a morning meal would be waiting for all. However, none of the Goblin Kickers is present, no doubt still sleeping off their night of indulgence. But, the room still has a great many people in it some of whom are familiar.

What does attract everyone's attention is a sight that they have seldom ever seen. In one area of the room, away from everyone else is Lord Sharadin, Sherwood and Jallarzi! Most of the time you've seen one or two of them together, but almost never three. The last time anyone here can say that was back after the attack in Corunglain right before the elves set out on the Elfquest that led to the restoration of the Mother Tree. Clearly they are discussing important matters and wish their privacy.

As you start to look over the others in the room, one voice does cut through the others.

“Kylie!” the familiar voice of Argent calls out with a squeal. This particular Argent is wearing several pieces of leather clothing, including very fine high black boots. She also has a full head of hair and is not thin like the Argent who was rescued from the Elder Ruins up by the Sylvan Realm. Kylie recognizes this as the second Argent that she first met when returning the third Argent. She comes rushing over and hugs Kylie. “Lord Sharadin did say that you were here!”

“I've got some folks that I'd like you to meet,” Argent adds after the hug. She indicates the man who followed Argent over. “This is my boyfriend, Burant.”

“Hello,” Burant says with a wave. Burant was about the same age of as Argent, had brown hair, clean shaven and of average height. He had the look of a mage about him.

“Some of the people I told you about before are here too,” Argent continues. “That's Sorvani and his wife Kayla.” Sorvani also had the look of a mage, while Kayla wears the robes of a Priestess of Mystra.

“That's Mara Korvin,” Argent indicates a human female with dark brown hair. She has the dress of a woodsman and bears the holy symbol of Ehlonna.

“Dallar.” This time Argent indicates a human male wearing leather armor. He bears a rabbits foot around his neck. Symbols of luck are known to be holy symbols for Priests of Tymora, the Goddess of Luck.

“Oh, that's Tevra, the Lightning Mage,” Argent points towards a human female with red hair leaning on a staff. Much like this Argent, she too has several pieces of leather clothing including the same pants and boots. Small arcs of electricity play about the woman and her hair occasionally spikes as if she is being shocked. This gives the woman a wild look about her.

“I'm don't know that last one very well,” Argent admits in regards the last new person here. It is another brown haired woman wearing the robes of Mystra. She is speaking to Kayla. “She is Serena, another Priestess of Mystra. She's from Alphatia.”

“So what have you been up to?” the Argent in leather inquires. “And who are all your friends?”

GM Notes:

Other than Kylie having met this Argent before, no one else here knows any of these other people. The second Argent never met anyone else. The other Argent's that people here did meet was the one who was in the Guardian's and became Lady Argent and the Argent with short hair that Kylie brought to Karn's Keep in the Cynalon Knights posts.

This particular Argent told Kylie about some of these people during their earlier visit, but this is the first time meeting any of them.

Lots to discuss I would imagine.

Now what?

Lilia:

Plans are made for the group to split up and go their own way on a free day. Thankfully, Lord Sharadin will be able to help out in moving the twins and Kylie towards there destination.
Lord Sharadin wrote:“Over a week away on foot,” Lord Sharadin notes, “but for the Lady Iris, not far at all. We could drop you off there. My final destination is not far from that area anyway.”
The twins wrote:“Kylie could also just Teleport to Karn's Keep,” the twins note with their way of alternating speaking. “She's done it before.”
“Sounds like a workable solution to me,” Lilia adds. “We'll meet at the Elder Ruins in a few days.”

Back at Karn's Keep, Lothtor speaks to me.
Lothtor wrote:“Not an issue,” Lothtor answers. As he speaks, his form wavers and shifts. When finished Lothtor looks much like he did before, but now has elfin features. He is shorter than he used to be as well. “Will this do?”
“That will be suitable,” Lilia answers. It must be amazing to simply appear as one wishes whenever they desire.

We catch up with Myev.
Myev wrote:Myev thinks for a moment, as if trying to find the words. “We usually eat meat, but meat that has been marinated in a variety of herbs and fruits,” Myev will say. “The meat ends up very tender and sweet.”
“I see,” Lilia nods he understanding.

“And perhaps too sweet for my tastes,” Lilia mentally adds.

Not long after the meal, the dwarves start to drink heavier and break into song.

“If that isn't a wail to may the dead cringe, I don't know what is,” Lilia mutters as she departs the area.

Some time is spent in the mage library, adding new spells to her spell books. Afterwards, Lilia retires to the Sunflower for the evening. Some time is spent cleaning her armor and weapons from the trek through the muddy ruins. Lilia realizes just how used she has become to the presence of her cooshee, Lady. But they will be together again soon.

Early next morning, Lilia is awake and starts the day by praying to replace her spent clerical spells. After that the mage spells are restored, or in the case of her 5th level spell learned for the first time. Her armor and weapons are left behind in her cabin when Lilia goes forth to the morning meal Lord Sharadin had promised.

Talking can be heard as Lilia nears the eating area. She simply assumes that it is the dwarves, but alas the chamber is primary filled with humans! Away from all the others is the powerful trio of Jallarzi, Sherwood and Lord Sharadin. They are privately talking among themselves.

Among the other humans in the room, one of them is Argent. Or rather one of them as Lilia cannot be sure which one. Clearly it is not the one that was discovered up by the Sylvan Realm. Argent rushes up to Kylie and they exchange greets. The humans are introduced, but Lilia has not heard of any of them before. The fact that this Argent asks Kylie who everyone is confirms that we have not met her before. Lilia will let Kylie handle the introductions.

Clearly Lord Sharadin has assembled this force for yet another mission. It seems that the work of the Archmage of Cynalon is never done.
Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!

Kylie Lanthorn the Half-Elven:
Talen wrote:Talen confers with Ironaya for a few moments before answering. “The Elders seem to have been like us in that we can both survive in the same environments. They did not like cold all that much. Guess that's normal for lizards. The worlds where there were pillars placed were habitable at that time. Now? Who knows?”
"Hmm..." Kylie muses. "Good point. Much may have changed over the millennia. We will have to be very careful if we want to do any exploration of other worlds."

Talen confirms that the Elder constructs are unlikely to have gone beyond their original instructions. Thus, if they still exist, they are likely dormant as Ironaya was when they found her.
Myev wrote:“Hi Kylie!” Myev says excitedly. “There's a mage guild here? I was too busy with the maps to even notice.”
Kylie smiles happily. "There is indeed. Either of the twins - Sherry or Terry - can tell you all about it and assist you with joining if you decide you want to."

At Lilia's question, Myev describes her preference in foods. "That sounds delicious, Myev. I would love to try some if the opportunity arises some day."

There is much discussion regarding the following day. It sounds to Kylie like they will travel to the Hidden Valley to visit Nightmist, then later continue on to Elcadan. This plan seems to meet their needs well, as Talen will get to visit with his family, and Kylie will get to visit Jallarzi and her father, and possibly even Argent. "Sounds like an excellent plan, Sharadin. Thank you."
Talen wrote:Talen smiles back, enjoying the simple wonder of just holding hands. “Where does your dad live?” Talen will ask. “Close to Elcadan?”
"Dad lives in Orlane, which is a ways south of Elcadan on the road toward Athenos. I can teleport us there from Elcadan, and then back here."
“I was thinking about going for a walk,” Talen says. “Get some fresh air to clear my head. Want to come along?”
Kylie looks up for a second. "One moment, please." She quickly finishes up a few notes regarding the concepts in the book she was reading, then sets them both aside. "Sorry, didn't want to lose those ideas. Sure, I'd love a walk." The young half-elf rises gracefully to her feet and slips her arm through Talen's. "Lead the way."

===

Morning comes sooner than Kylie would have liked. She relaxes in bed for a little while before rising and getting dressed. She spends some time reviewing her current selection of spells, then heads off to find some breakfast. Arriving in the literally giant-sized meeting room, she notes that many of her friends are already there. Obviously absent are the dwarves.

Off in one corner, the senior members of the association - Sharadin, Jallarzi, and Sherwood - are taking their own council. Kylie pauses a second; she can only remember one time having seen all three of them together in one place before. Her first instinct is to go over and say hello, but then thinks better of it.

Kylie's attention is torn away from the unusual sight be a squeal from a familiar voice. Argent, or at least the one with the enchanted leather outfit, races over and clasps her in a hug that Kylie happily returns. "Argent!" Before she can say much else, Argent launches into leading her about and introducing her to the rest of her companions.

"Hello, Burant. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance." The mage is handsome, in his way, but not as burly as some of Argent's previous men.

The next are husband and wife. "Hi Sorvani. Hello Kayla. I'm pleased to meet you both. Admittedly, I haven't met very many married adventuring couples." Kylie recognizes Kayla's holy symbol. "It looks like you follow Mystra, Kayla. I used to travel with a priestess of Mystra named Lyonessa."

Next, Argent introduces her to a woman named Mara. "Hello, Mara. I see you follow Ehlonna. My companion Laucian over there also is one of her followers." Kylie says, indicating the stern elven woodsman.

"Hi Dallar, How are you doing?" Kylie says when introduced to the follower of Tymora. Kylie flashes a quick handsign indicating that she, too, is 'in the trade'.

Kylie is just as pleased when Argent chooses to point out the static-charged mage from a distance. "Hi Tevra," Kylie says, waving at the mage from a safe distance.

Argent indicates another teammate named Serena who is currently talking with Kayla. "Ah, an Alphatian. I recently got to know a Captain in their navy. Another follower of Mystra, I see. Can never have to many priests when out adventuring, if you ask me."
Argent wrote:“So what have you been up to?” the Argent in leather inquires. “And who are all your friends?”
Kylie laughs. "Where would I even start?! I know it hasn't been that long since we've had a chance to really talk, but it seems like forever ago. So many things have happened in the last few weeks... Wow."

"Let me introduce you to my companions." Kylie pauses for just a moment. "Is there a way that you would like me to reference you to distinguish you from Lady Argent and your other twins?"

____________________________________________________________________
I'm assuming that it would be rude to just call her 'Leather Argent'... Hopefully, she's come up with something better in the meantime.

Admittedly, Kylie saw this Argent last time she was here, but didn't really get much chance to talk with her.

Small Update:
Kylie wrote:"Let me introduce you to my companions." Kylie pauses for just a moment. "Is there a way that you would like me to reference you to distinguish you from Lady Argent and your other twins?"
“I'm Argent,” Argent will easily say. “The one who is in the Guardian's of Light goes by Lady Argent know. Like I said before, always flaunting that noble title! The other me you brought back from the Sylvan Realm is going by another name now. But I'll let you her tell you that when you see her.”

GM Notes:

Yes, Leather Argent was a simple description to tell the Argent's apart and not an official title. Lady Argent is an official title, so that can be used for that one. As this Argent said, the Argent brought back from the Sylvan Realm is using a different name now. More will be revealed when you catch up with her.

Kylie would have heard the name of Burant before, even before meeting this Argent and her recounting her adventures around Elcadan in the Cynalon Knights posts. Burant was one of Lord Sharadin's apprentices along with Chareos. Ironically, Lady Argent is dating Chareos at this time. Seems she likes Lord Sharadin's apprentices!

Onas Brightsword:
Quirin wrote:“Yesss,” Quirin confirms in regards to his own special abilities. “However, young Talen doessss not ssseem to posssesss them. At leassst none that I can sssenssse.”
Onas looks puzzled for several moments. "Ah... I thought that he was communicating with the construct named Ironaya and controlling the pillar artifacts mentally. You cannot sense him doing those things? I have also heard it said that he can reshape certain types of stone by concentrating. Does this mean that the Elder abilities that he seems to have gained are of a different type than your abilities?"
Lothtor wrote:“I am well,” Lothtor says with a smile. “I prefer to talk my way out of trouble. Alas, all that black dragon wanted to do was maul me.”
"I'm glad to hear it," Onas replies, smiling broadly. "Yes, those black dragons were rather inclined to violence."
Myev wrote:“Oh, hello!” Myev will say to Onas. “I'm sorry. I don't remember your name. My heads a bit messed up! I've been studying maps so that I can navigate the Sunflower back to the Sylvan Realm. What have you been doing here?”
"Ah, I'm Onas," he says, a bit embarrassed. "I don't think we got much of a chance to talk previously." After a quick shift of mental gears, Onas continues. "I was with the group that went to explore the Hive base in the swamp. It had sunk deep into the ground, forming something of a large open cavern. We had several large battles, surviving with the help of Captain Roma and her flying ship."

In the morning, after performing his devotions to the Triune Lady, Onas joins the others for breakfast. He gathers some fruits, nuts, and vegetables from the serving trays and finds a spot to sit. Looking around, he notes many of his companions, though the dwarves appear to be absent. In one corner, Lord Sharadin is talking privately with a man and woman, both of whom seem to share a bit of a family resemblance with the lord of the castle.

A sudden squeal diverts Onas' attentlon. A woman who looks just like the Argent that was rescued from the tower in Shillesta greets Kylie enthusiastically. He has heard that - due to a magical accident - there are multiple Argents. Could this be one of them, he wonders.

Plans are made to try this out in a few days once the situation with the slavers is over.
“ If there is anything I can do to assist please let me know. Our kin were foolish but no one deserves to die by the hive. I hope that they will find rest.” he says simply yet hopefully.
The healers see to the dragon Lothtor. “I am well,” Lothtor says with a smile. “I prefer to talk my way out of trouble. Alas, all that black dragon wanted to do was maul me.”
Walking up, Laucian overhears the conversations and adds. “There is a time for talk, and a time to act. I am glad to see that you recovered from your wounds, Lothtor.”

Laucian sees Myev yet keeps his distance from the blue elf. Not out of fear but uncertainty. He sadly just doesn't know what to make of her.

Laucian sees Gweyr at the breakfast and he approaches, “Good morning, You seem to have slept well.” he notes as he takes a sip of fresh squeezed juice. “ Are you looking to return home? Will you see any family while you are there?” he asks curiously.
What does attract everyone's attention is a sight that they have seldom ever seen. In one area of the room, away from everyone else is Lord Sharadin, Sherwood and Jallarzi!
Laucian sees the trio and a smile comes to his face. He raises a glass in greeting then walks over. He will extend his hand to Sherwood in particular, “ It is good to see you again Sherwood Elf-friend. Lady Jallarzi,” he will bow his head, “ I trust you are well.” he says simply. “I cannot say I have seen all three of you in the same place. What brings you to Karn’s keep?”

Laucian hears a familiar voice of Argent. Which Laucian shifts his eyes to then the surrounding individuals. A holy symbol catches his eye as he excuses himself from the trio. He approaches and introduces himself, “ Greetings, I am Laucian Nailo of the Golden Gryphons. How long have you been in the service of Ehlonna?” he asks curiously.

Talen leads Kylie away from the library. He has no real plan on where to go, so just mostly wanders the hallways of the giant-sized keep.

“Hard to believe that something like this belongs to my family,” Talen notes. “I mean until I left the Lost Valley, I had no idea who my human relatives were. Turns out that they are pretty special. I've heard that my cousin Jallarzi has her own estate! Can you imagine that? And there is a very large estate down in the capitol as well. Lots of places to go and see. Once things settle down of course and the war is over with. It would be nice to just wander around without having battles to fight for once.”

Talen is up early next morning and learns new mage spells. After that it's time to get something to eat, so Talen starts to head towards the dinning area and comes across the others in the process. Inside the are are many humans unknown to Talen. But not only that, his cousins Sherwood and Jallarzi are there as well!

Talen starts to head off in that direction, when a familiar voice calls out to Kylie. It's one of the Argent's and this one seems different from the one who was in the Sylvan Realm. Introductions are made and Talen will nod when introduced.

When able Talen will say his hellos to his other cousins. “Sherwood! Good to see you,” Talen will say. “And to you as well, Jallarzi. What's going on?”

Valena eats her fill during the celebratory meal, but does not linger. Afterwards, she retires to her quarters to rest and perform her daily bow maintenance. Next morning, Valena replenishes her spent spells from the day before.

At the gathering area, it seems that Lord Sharadin has new guests. They are primarily human. Spotting a familiar holy symbol, Valena will walk up to the lady woodsman.

“Well met, Forest Sister,” Valena says in greeting. “I am Valena, a Priestess of Ehlonna.”

Later, Valena will track down Sherwood. “Good to see you again, Sherwood Elf-Friend. I trust you had a safe trip back from the Sylvan Realm? What's going on here? Why are all these people here?”

Kylie Lanthorn the Half-Elven:
Talen wrote:“You're becoming quite the powerful sorceress,” Talen notes. “Able to zip here and there as needed. Very handy!”
"Thank you, Talen," Kylie replies with a smile. "I've been working pretty hard at it. I've been much more focused on my magic skills lately rather than my more... larcenous... skills."

At Talen's invitation, they go off wandering about the castle. Kylie has seen most of it before, but they do stray into a few areas she isn't familiar with.
Talen wrote:“Hard to believe that something like this belongs to my family,” Talen notes.
Kylie nod as she listens to Talen talk about his family. His comment about Jallarzi's estate causes her to giggle. "I can imagine that; I trained with Jallarzi at her estate. I even have, or at least had, my own room there."

They come upon a sitting room with a few comfortable chairs and a couch. Kylie sits on the couch and indicates for Talen to join her. "But I agree with you, Talen. I look forward to this war and these various crises being over. I would much rather explore and learn than fight. The world is such a fascinating place, don't you think? I would enjoy exploring it with you," Kylie says, looking deep into his eyes.

===
Argent wrote:“I'm Argent,” Argent will easily say. “The one who is in the Guardian's of Light goes by Lady Argent know. Like I said before, always flaunting that noble title! The other me you brought back from the Sylvan Realm is going by another name now. But I'll let you her tell you that when you see her.”
At breakfast, Argent greets Kylie warmly. However, none of the others from the Sylvan Realms have met this Argent, so introductions are in order. But first, a quick question reveals unexpected information. "She is? Oh, I guess she's wanting to establish her own identity. Good for her! I'll look forward to hearing about it when I see her; I'm hoping to visit her tomorrow, if I can make that work."

Time to get on with the introductions. Seems to make sense to start with the queen, so Kylie leads Argent over to where Lilia is sitting. "Good morning, Lilia. I would like you to meet Argent of... " Kylie pauses and looks at Argent. "Does this group of yours have a name? Anyway, this is Queen Lilliathelionn Allandros of the Sylvan Realm," Kylie concludes, turning back to Lilia.

Myev is sitting not far away, so Kylie turns to her next. "Hi Myev. I would like you to meet Argent, a friend from my days as a student of Jallarzi. Argent, this is Myev. She is an elf from another world that we met while rescuing the other Argent. She managed to pilot one of those flying ships all the way from that other world to here."

Noting that Laucian is sitting with Gweyr, Kylie goes to their table next. "Good morning, Laucian. Good morning, Gweyr. This is Argent, though one you haven't met yet. Argent, this is Laucian, a woodsman and follower of Ehlonna. He is the deadliest shot with a bow that I have ever seen and the commander of our Golden Griffins. And this is Gweyr, a singularly-dedicated fire mage. I try to avoid getting on her bad side."

Valena is chatting with a few of Argent's friends, so Kylie decides to leave her for last. Instead, she approaches Talen and Lia, who are sitting at the same table. "Talen, Lia, this is Argent, whom I met a few days ago, and yet have known for years. Argent, I would like you to meet Talen, my boyfriend, and Lia." Kylie blushes slightly, then plunges on. "They are twins, and distant cousins of our hosts."

She then leads Argent over to Onas, who appears to be sitting with his brother and their close friend Andlin. "Hi Onas, Arlen, Andlin. Mind if we intrude on your thoughts for a moment? I want you to meet Argent, who is a companion of this other group having breakfast with us. I suspect they're going to be sent off on some mission. Argent, this is Onas Brightsword. He is the founder and leader of the Forest Riders in the Sylvan Realm. Sitting next to him, and bearing a distinct family resemblance is his brother, Arlen Brightsword. And across the table is the warrior Andlin Alastra. Arlen and Andlin are leaders in the queen's guard."

It seems their chat is winding down, so Valena is next. "Good morning, Valena. This is Argent, who is related to the Argent we rescued from Shillesta. Argent, this is Valena who - like Laucian - is a follower of Ehlonna. She also leads our contingent of Silver Maidens."

Onas Brightsword:

While he's chatting with Arlen and Andlin over breakfast, Kylie approaches with an attractive human woman.
Kylie wrote:"Hi Onas, Arlen, Andlin. Mind if we intrude on your thoughts for a moment? I want you to meet Argent, who is a companion of this other group having breakfast with us. Looking up from his seat at the table, Onas gives the woman a friendly smile. "Well met, Argent. A pleasure to meet you. I hope you don't mind me saying so, but you must be one of the... 'twins'... we've heard so much about. What brings you to Karn's Keep?"

_____________________________________________________________________________
I cannot recall for certain whether or not Onas actually ever met either of the other Argent's, so for this post I am assuming that he has not.

Talen:
Talen wrote:"Thank you, Talen," Kylie replies with a smile. "I've been working pretty hard at it. I've been much more focused on my magic skills lately rather than my more... larcenous... skills."
“It shows,” Talen compliments. “I tend to focus on everything, so I guess I'm equally bad at everything! But seriously, magic is hard for me. I struggled to just learn Wall of Fire. I'm not sure how much further I can go in that area, but I have others to fall back on so its all good.”
Kylie wrote:Kylie nod as she listens to Talen talk about his family. His comment about Jallarzi's estate causes her to giggle. "I can imagine that; I trained with Jallarzi at her estate. I even have, or at least had, my own room there."
Talen has a surprised look on his face. “I forgot all about that! I'm such an idiot! I've never been there, so all I can do is imagine. It must be very nice.”
Kylie wrote:They come upon a sitting room with a few comfortable chairs and a couch.
“Yes, very much so...” Talen starts to say and than looses his train of thought while looking into Kylie's eyes. Without much thought and strictly acting on impulse, Talen leans over and will, try to, gently kiss Kylie on the lips.

Kylie wrote:Valena is chatting with a few of Argent's friends, so Kylie decides to leave her for last. Instead, she approaches Talen and Lia, who are sitting at the same table. Talen looks up as Kylie and yet another Argent approach. He got all tongue-tied over the first Argent he met up in Corunglain and was present when another was rescued from the Elder Ruins of Shillesta. This one is as beautiful as the others.

“Hey, nice to meet you,” Talen says in greeting somewhat proud to have been referenced as Kylie's boyfriend. “Actually Lord Sharadin is our uncle, while Sherwood is our cousin. Jallarzi is the distant cousin. What brings you to Karn's Keep?”

December 7th, CR 571 or Deepnight 29th, 20,519 AP

The day when the HIVE was defeated is winding down...

Lord Sharadin has modified his plan to retrieve the body of the Argent who was turned into a HIVE Queen to recover the bodies of the elves slain in the cave in up in the Elder Ruins of Shillesta. The Archmage will summon an earth elemental to retrieve the bodies as it can easily move through the ground.
Laucian wrote:“If there is anything I can do to assist please let me know. Our kin were foolish but no one deserves to die by the hive. I hope that they will find rest.” he says simply yet hopefully.
“Aid will be needed to transport the bodies of you kin,” Lord Sharadin will state. “I'll contact Kylie a few days before we make the attempt so that you can prepare.”

Onas and the couatl Quirin contemplate Talen's abilities...
Onas wrote:Onas looks puzzled for several moments.
“That ssseemsss to be the cassse,” Quirin agrees. “Talen can only communicate with Elder conssstructsss and nothing elssse. In that regard, hisss abilitiesss ssseem limited compared to mine.”

When Onas met Myev...
Onas wrote:"Ah, I'm Onas," he says, a bit embarrassed. "I don't think we got much of a chance to talk previously."
“No,” Myev agrees. “So much has happened so quickly. I don't know what I am doing half the time.”
Onas wrote:After a quick shift of mental gears, Onas continues. "I was with the group that went to explore the Hive base in the swamp. It had sunk deep into the ground, forming something of a large open cavern. We had several large battles, surviving with the help of Captain Roma and her flying ship."
“Sounds horrible!” Myev says in all seriousness. “Or exciting. Or maybe both! I am glad that everyone is okay after that.”

December 8th, CR 571 or Deepnight 30th, 20,519 AP

Next morning, the elves returning to the large gathering area of Karn's Keep for the morning meal. A band of humans are present, along with Lord Sharadin, Sherwood and Jallarzi. One of the Argents is present and introductions are made.
Laucian wrote:Laucian sees Gweyr at the breakfast and he approaches, “Good morning, You seem to have slept well.” he notes as he takes a sip of fresh squeezed juice.
“I am refreshed and ready to go,” Gweyr will say with a smile.
Laucian wrote:“Are you looking to return home? Will you see any family while you are there?” he asks curiously.
“I asked to be dropped off in Pinitel,” Gweyr states. Pinitel is the Clan Hold for the Long Runners in the Elfholds. “As for my family, who can say if they are around or not? At any rate, I want to retrieve my belongings and return with them to the Sylvan Realm. That is my home now.”

Valena is among the early arrivals. As the elves start to arrive, Valena will make a note to identify Sherwood Elf-Friend to those who have not met him before. Specifically, Onas, Arlen, Andlin and Gweyr.
Valena wrote:“He was the human who accompanied us on our mission to the Sylvan Realm and was instrumental in the recovery of the Mother Tree,” Valena explains. “All elves owe him a debt of gratitude.”
Spotting a follower of Ehlonna among the humans, Valena introduces herself.
Valena wrote: “Well met, Forest Sister,” Valena says in greeting. “I am Valena, a Priestess of Ehlonna.”
“Mara Korvin,” the human answers. “A ranger in the service of the Lady of the Forests. Good to meet you, Priestess.”

Kylie arrives and is reunited with the Argent with the leather garments. Hugs are exchanged. This Argent introduces the people with her.
Kylie wrote:"Hello, Burant. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance." The mage is handsome, in his way, but not as burly as some of Argent's previous men.
“Hi,” Burant causally answers. “I've heard of you before, but this is the first time we've met. I was Lord Sharadin's apprentice along with Chareos while you and Argent were training with Jallarzi.”
Kylie wrote:The next are husband and wife.
“Greetings, Kylie” Sorvani will intone. The mage is of average looks and height with black eyes and combed back matching hair. “Kayla and I met during the liberation of Gateway a few years back fell in love and were married not long after. After Gateway several of us grouped up to adventure around Elcadan.”

“We met Lyonessa in Elcadan,” Kayla adds. “Marvelous singing voice and strong in her faith.”
Kylie wrote:Next, Argent introduces her to a woman named Mara. "Hello, Mara. I see you follow Ehlonna. My companion Laucian over there also is one of her followers." Kylie says, indicating the stern elven woodsman.
“Well met,” Mara says in response to Kylie. “Yes, I have noted several of the ladies followers among you.”
Laucian wrote:He approaches and introduces himself, “ Greetings, I am Laucian Nailo of the Golden Gryphons. How long have you been in the service of Ehlonna?” he asks curiously.
“I started my training about eight years ago,” Mara states. “I serve the Lady as a ranger. So am I to understand that you are a Knight of the Realm?”
Dallar wrote:"Hi Dallar, How are you doing?" Kylie says when introduced to the follower of Tymora. Kylie flashes a quick hand sign indicating that she, too, is 'in the trade'.
“Any friend of Argent's is a friend of mine.” Dallar returns the subtle gesture. “Lady Luck does smile upon us this day.”
Kylie wrote:Kylie is just as pleased when Argent chooses to point out the static-charged mage from a distance. "Hi Tevra," Kylie says, waving at the mage from a safe distance.
“Her spells come out differently that ours do,” Argent further explains. “Her version of Magic Missiles come out as little bolts of lightning! It's weird and cool at the same time!”
Kylie wrote:Argent indicates another teammate named Serena who is currently talking with Kayla. "Ah, an Alphatian. I recently got to know a Captain in their navy. Another follower of Mystra, I see. Can never have to many priests when out adventuring, if you ask me."
“Lord Sharadin asked me to come along to help teach the mages here how to use a Spell Engine,” Serena explains in a noticeable Alphatian accent. “You must be speaking of Captain Roma. Our paths have crossed before in Elcadan. She is a dedicated officer in the service of the Empress.”
Kylie wrote:At breakfast, Argent greets Kylie warmly.
“That would be lovely,” Argent agrees. “We, meaning Lady Argent and myself, visit as much as we can, but this war has us busy. She's helping out in our parents shop now. We've stopped fighting each other and are now working together.”
Kylie wrote:Time to get on with the introductions.
“No, we don't have a group name,” Argent explains. “We came together to help defend Elcadan a few weeks back. Duke Relon put out the call for adventures to come help and we did. Been helping out ever since. Oh, the things that I have seen would boggle the mind!”

Argent is surprised to learn that an elfin queen is present! “Your Majesty,” Argent says with an elegant bow. Thank you for the help that you gave my 'sister'.”
Kylie wrote:Myev is sitting not far away, so Kylie turns to her next. "Hi Myev. I would like you to meet Argent, a friend from my days as a student of Jallarzi. Argent, this is Myev. She is an elf from another world that we met while rescuing the other Argent. She managed to pilot one of those flying ships all the way from that other world to here."
The words are barely out of Kylie's mouth when Myev suddenly rushes up to Argent and gives her a big hug and lifts her up in the air! “Friend!”, Myev calls out in elfish.

“What the hell?” Argent manages to get out before the bear hug. There is a confused look on her face as her feet dangle above the floor.

“You're safe!” Myev adds happily still speaking in elvish.

“I can understand you,” Argent says to the giant blue elf, “but I do not speak your language.”

Turning towards Kylie, Argent adds, “This is Myev? I thought she was an orc? A little help here?”
Kylie wrote:Noting that Laucian is sitting with Gweyr, Kylie goes to their table next.
“Hi there,” Argent answers easily to the pair of elves. “I've heard of Laucian before. You traveled with Lady Argent for a time. Good to meet you.”

“A fire mage, huh?” Argent says focusing on Gweyr. “I haven't run into a fire mage before. Tevra over there is a lightning mage. Perhaps that is something similar?”

“Well met,” Gweyr easily answers and then turns her gaze towards Tevra. Noting the electricity playing about the woman, Gweyr adds, “Oh, she's just showing off.”

Gweyr concentrates for a few seconds and small flames start to form about her body. Just as quickly as they appeared, the flames shrink and fade away all together.

“Unlike your friend there, I'd just assume not be on fire all the time,” Gweyr adds with a grin.

“I can see the advantages of that,” Argent adds with a laugh.

Kylie wrote:Valena is chatting with a few of Argent's friends, so Kylie decides to leave her for last. Instead, she approaches Talen and Lia, who are sitting at the same table. "Talen, Lia, this is Argent, whom I met a few days ago, and yet have known for years. Argent, I would like you to meet Talen, my boyfriend, and Lia." Kylie blushes slightly, then plunges on. "They are twins, and distant cousins of our hosts."
“Boyfriend?” Argent repeats in surprise. “That sounds like a juicy story. Come on, share!”

“Hello, Talen,” Argent says to the half-elf. “Break her heart and you will have to answer to me.”
Talen wrote:“Hey, nice to meet you,” Talen says in greeting somewhat proud to have been referenced as Kylie's boyfriend. “Actually Lord Sharadin is our uncle, while Sherwood is our cousin. Jallarzi is the distant cousin. What brings you to Karn's Keep?”
“Lord Sharadin, actually,” Argent answers. Turning to Kylie, she adds, “Remember that story I started to tell you the last time we were together? About Baltron's Beacon? Sherwood figured out that the place I had been was the place you guys had been looking for before. After you and your mom left, I told him the rest of the story.”

“We had found the abandoned and ruined keep,” Argent summarizes. “We encountered resistance outside and defeated them. Inside held numerous tricks and traps. A guardian demon was released and he killed several of the group, including Thorvid. We managed to defeat the demon, but were wounded. We withdrew back to Elcadan to recover and plan, but that's when all the stuff with the Civil War had started and we were swept up in that.”

“Now Lord Sharadin wants to go back to that ruined keep and continue the exploration,” Argent concludes. “So he summoned everyone who survived the earlier mission for the return trip. That's why we are all here. Lord Sharadin plans to fly the Lady Iris to these ruins and finish what we started. I'm not looking forward to this after what happened last time.”

If Argent is taken aback by the appearance of a drow elf, she does not show it. “Hi there, Lia. Forgive me for stating the obvious, but you two really don't look like twins.”
Kylie wrote:She then leads Argent over to Onas, who appears to be sitting with his brother and their close friend Andlin.
“Hi there,” Argent says to all three of the elves at the table.
Onas wrote:Looking up from his seat at the table, Onas gives the woman a friendly smile. "Well met, Argent. A pleasure to meet you. I hope you don't mind me saying so, but you must be one of the... 'twins'... we've heard so much about. What brings you to Karn's Keep?"
“We're triplets now,” Argent says to Onas with a smile. “Lord Sharadin is taking us back to Baltron's Beacon to finish our explorations there. There's a bit of a lull in the Civil War right now, so we are rushing about handling all these unrelated tasks. So what exactly is a Forest Rider?”
Kyle wrote:It seems their chat is winding down, so Valena is next. "Good morning, Valena. This is Argent, who is related to the Argent we rescued from Shillesta. Argent, this is Valena who - like Laucian - is a follower of Ehlonna. She also leads our contingent of Silver Maidens."
“I've heard your name before, Valena,” Argent states. “You're the one who taught Lady Argent how to use a bow. And here I thought she was making all that up! Silver Maidens? Lady elves really good at archery?”

Elsewhere in the massive room, Laucian approaches Lord Sharadin, Sherwood and Jallarzi.
Laucian wrote:Laucian sees the trio and a smile comes to his face. He raises a glass in greeting then walks over. He will extend his hand to Sherwood in particular, “ It is good to see you again Sherwood Elf-friend.”
“Good to see you again, Laucian,” Sherwood say as the two grasp hands. “How are things going in the Sylvan Realm?”
Laucian wrote:“Lady Jallarzi,” he will bow his head. “I trust you are well.”
“Well met, Laucian,” Jallarzi will say. “I am as well as can be expected considering the circumstances. I am pleased that your mission to the Sylvan Realm was a success.”
Laucian wrote:“I cannot say I have seen all three of you in the same place. What brings you to Karn’s keep?”
“We gather from time to time to share information and plan strategies,” Lord Sharadin answers. “Rarely are our gatherings this public, but time is short and we all have tasks to perform.”
Valena wrote:Later, Valena will track down Sherwood. “Good to see you again, Sherwood Elf-Friend. I trust you had a safe trip back from the Sylvan Realm? What's going on here? Why are all these people here?”
“Good to see you as well, Valena,” Sherwood will say warmly. “Lilia revealed to me a faster way to make the return trip to Cynalon, but I choose to take my time on the way back. I had the unique opportunity to scout out the wastelands of Vassa, the lands of the dreaded Witch-King. A spent a week of scouting before returning home. Now it seems that I am departing Cynalon once more on a new mission.”
Talen wrote:When able Talen will say his hellos to his other cousins. “Sherwood! Good to see you,” Talen will say. “And to you as well, Jallarzi. What's going on?”
“Well, if it isn't Lord Sculley,” Sherwood says in greetings to his cousin. “How do you feel? Kylie told me some of what happened to you after I left the Sylvan Realm.”

“We meet regularly to share information and make plans for what is to come,” Jallarzi explains. “Right now we have this morning to perform this task. Afterwards, we'll all be going our separate ways and our own individual tasks. I'll be returning to Corunglain myself shortly.”

GM Notes:

The Order of the Golden Griffon is also the name of the organization of the King of Cynalon's knights. Its the group that Sir Acerion, Sir Corley and Sir Valdiar are members of. The humans took the name from the elves tales of the griffon riders from long ago. So Mara has heard of the human version, but not the elfin one since its rebirth. She thinks Laucian is claiming to be a Knight of Cynalon.

There is a great many things going on in Cynalon that are being referenced. What these things specifically are will be referenced in future New Frontiers Speculation posts. I have things roughly laid out, but keep adding more and more details as time goes on.

Now what?

Kylie Lanthorn the Half-Elven:
Talen wrote:“It shows,” Talen compliments. “I tend to focus on everything, so I guess I'm equally bad at everything! But seriously, magic is hard for me. I struggled to just learn Wall of Fire. I'm not sure how much further I can go in that area, but I have others to fall back on so its all good.”
Kylie laughs softly. "Oh, come on, Talen. You have so many talents; I don't know anyone with as much capacity as you have. Reaching your limit in one area just gives you more time to focus on other opportunities. Think about it -- not only do you have all the skills that you were trained in, but you also have this ability to communicate with and command Elder devices and constructs. Who else do we know that can do that!? We don't even have any idea how far that ability reaches. Who knows what the limits of that may be? At least you have many years ahead of you to find out."
Talen wrote:Talen has a surprised look on his face. “I forgot all about that! I'm such an idiot! I've never been there, so all I can do is imagine. It must be very nice.”
"It is," Kylie replies with a smile. "Jallarzi has exquisite taste. If you keep hanging around with me, you'll likely see the estate some day."
Talen wrote:“Yes, very much so...” Talen starts to say and than looses his train of thought while looking into Kylie's eyes. Without much thought and strictly acting on impulse, Talen leans over and will, try to, gently kiss Kylie on the lips.
'Finally...' Kylie thinks as Talen leans in with obvious intent. 'Time to get this over with.' Kylie accepts the kiss, returning it softly and gently. She lays her hand alongside his cheek as she pulls back just a little and looks into his eyes. "You really are a very sweet man, Talen."

Burant wrote:“Hi,” Burant causally answers. “I've heard of you before, but this is the first time we've met. I was Lord Sharadin's apprentice along with Chareos while you and Argent were training with Jallarzi.”
"Ah, you trained with Chareos. He was a good companion when we traveled together. Have you heard anything of his current whereabouts or well-being?"

Kyile meets Sorvani and Kayla, adventuring husband and wife. "Yes, Lyonessa was quite the singer. She turned quite a few heads as well, as I recall. Best wishes to you both." They continue on, meeting many of Argent's other companions.
Argent wrote:“Her spells come out differently that ours do,” Argent further explains. “Her version of Magic Missiles come out as little bolts of lightning! It's weird and cool at the same time!”
Argent's comment causes Kylie to chuckle. "I can imagine! You have your own version, too, as I recall. I wonder if I'll ever develop my own versions of spells - or even entirely new spells. Wouldn't that be cool!?"
Serena wrote:“Lord Sharadin asked me to come along to help teach the mages here how to use a Spell Engine,” Serena explains in a noticeable Alphatian accent. “You must be speaking of Captain Roma. Our paths have crossed before in Elcadan. She is a dedicated officer in the service of the Empress.”
"Yes, it was Captain Roma. She seems both capable and fierce. Hopefully I'll get the chance to learn a bit more about Spell Engines from you if the time allows. I'm still very much a novice, I'm afraid."
Argent wrote:“No, we don't have a group name,” Argent explains. “We came together to help defend Elcadan a few weeks back. Duke Relon put out the call for adventures to come help and we did. Been helping out ever since. Oh, the things that I have seen would boggle the mind!”
Kylie grimaces. "I can believe that. I still cannot believe some of the things I've seen and experienced in the past few weeks!"
Argent wrote:“That would be lovely,” Argent agrees. “We, meaning Lady Argent and myself, visit as much as we can, but this war has us busy. She's helping out in our parents shop now. We've stopped fighting each other and are now working together.”
"That is good to hear," Kylie replies. "Sounds like you are both adjusting to your new situation."

Introducing Argent to Myev gets out of hand very quickly. "Myev, please put Argent down. This is not the Argent you know from before. They're sort of like twins - well, triplets, really."

Kylie turns to Argent. "Sorry, it's kind of a long story, Argent. In essence, an elf from another world was merged into an alien orc - called a 'scro' - and traveled here to our world. Mother Tree gave her the opportunity to be returned to her original elven form and Myev chose to accept that gift."
Argent wrote:“Boyfriend?” Argent repeats in surprise. “That sounds like a juicy story. Come on, share!”
Kylie winces; perhaps she shouldn't have phrased it that way. "Perhaps later, dear," Kylie replies with a smirk.
Kylie kicks herself mentally as Talen corrects her introduction. She seems to always have trouble remembering exactly how all the relations in that family line up...

Argent explains to her and Talen how she comes to be here. Kylie listens with interest to the tale. "At least you'll have Sharadin with you, and that should help."

When Sharadin, Sherwood and Jallarzi appear done with their discussion and planning, Kylie will try to find an opportunity to approach Jallarzi. "Hi Jallarzi! Good to see you," Kylie says cheerfully, giving her mentor a hug. "You look great. Can I ask you about the Argent we rescued up north?"

Afterwards, Kylie will look and ask around to see if Sherwood is still on the premises.

___________________________________________________________________
I'm not sure if Kylie has ever been to visit Argent's parents or knows where in Corunglain they live. If not, she'll ask Argent or Jallarzi for directions or a map of some kind.

Lilia is introduced to yet another Argent.
Kylie wrote:Time to get on with the introductions.
Argent wrote:Argent is surprised to learn that an elfin queen is present! “Your Majesty,” Argent says with an elegant bow. Thank you for the help that you gave my 'sister'.”
“You are most welcomed, Argent,” Lilia answers. “I've already meet you other incarnations before, so nice to meet you as well. I, briefly, traveled with the Guardians when Lady Argent first arrived.”

Afterwards, Lilia will make her way around the room to say her hellos.

“Sherwood Elf-Friend,” Lilia says as she steps up to the Ranger-mage. “I am pleased that you made it home safely. You must return to the Sylvan Realm when you are able to see how we have progressed. The Rainbow Bridge has opened up once already and many elves have returned to their ancestral homeland.”

Lilia makes a point to speak to Lady Sallavarian as well to exchange greetings.

Later, she'll speak with Lord Sharadin before the elves depart.

“My thanks for all your aid in the matter of the HIVE,” Lilia states. “We shall be departing for the Elfholds now. Safe journeys.”

Speaking to the other elves, she'll say, “Come friends. Let us return to our ancestral home for the day.”
Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!

Onas Brightsword:

As the feast winds down, eating is replaced by chatting with those nearby.
Quirin wrote:“That ssseemsss to be the cassse,” Quirin agrees. “Talen can only communicate with Elder conssstructsss and nothing elssse. In that regard, hisss abilitiesss ssseem limited compared to mine.”
"Hmm..." Onas murmurs as he considers Quirin's words. "So you can also communicate with the Elder constructs, as well as some other mental abilities such as what you did to those lizardmen earlier. It would seem that your abilities are quite versatile."
Myev wrote:“No,” Myev agrees. “So much has happened so quickly. I don't know what I am doing half the time.”
"I often feel the same way," Onas replies. "However, I place my faith in Angharradh and she gives me direction."
Myev wrote:“Sounds horrible!” Myev says in all seriousness. “Or exciting. Or maybe both! I am glad that everyone is okay after that.”
A grimace crosses Onas' face at Myev's commentary. "As am I, Myev. And it was horrible; most of those we fought were but slaves to the Hive creatures."

Morning brings many new people to meet and talk with. Kylie brings a different iteration of her friend Argent over and introduces her.
Argent wrote:“We're triplets now,” Argent says to Onas with a smile. “Lord Sharadin is taking us back to Baltron's Beacon to finish our explorations there. There's a bit of a lull in the Civil War right now, so we are rushing about handling all these unrelated tasks. So what exactly is a Forest Rider?”
"Ah, I believe I had heard something to that effect," Onas says in reply to Argents mention of their being three of them. "Forest Riders are essentially our elven cavalry. We serve as scouts and messengers as needed in addition to our military role. Protecting the Sylvan Realm is paramount, especially since there are so few of us living there."

Eventually the time comes to leave, as declared by Queen Lilia. Onas will gather up his things and prepare to board the flying ship with the others.

Talen:
Kylie wrote:Kylie laughs softly.
“That's all true,” Talen agrees, trying to be humble. “It just strikes me as odd that if my family has so many great mages among them that I'm mediocre at it at best. I guess I'm being weighted down by my mother's side of the family. But as you said, I have other opportunities that more than make up for that deficiency.”
Kylie wrote:"It is," Kylie replies with a smile. "Jallarzi has exquisite taste. If you keep hanging around with me, you'll likely see the estate some day."
“Some day,” Talen agrees with a goofy smile.
Kylie wrote:'Finally...' Kylie thinks as Talen leans in with obvious intent. 'Time to get this over with.' Kylie accepts the kiss, returning it softly and gently. She lays her hand alongside his cheek as she pulls back just a little and looks into his eyes. "You really are a very sweet man, Talen."
“You're a sweet man as well,” Talen agrees. His eyes bulges wide in horror a moment later after he catches his error. “Girl! I meant sweet girl!”

Next morning, new acquaintances are made and another version of Argent appears.
Argent wrote:“Boyfriend?” Argent repeats in surprise. “That sounds like a juicy story. Come on, share!”
Kylie wrote:Kylie winces; perhaps she shouldn't have phrased it that way. "Perhaps later, dear," Kylie replies with a smirk.
Talen winces as well. He's not sure he wants every detail of their budding relationship to be known to all.
Talen wrote:“Hello, Talen,” Argent says to the half-elf. “Break her heart and you will have to answer to me.”
“Yes, ma'am,” Talen answers with a gulp.

“As I recall you have been studying the Elder Artifacts,” Talen adds, trying to change the subject and get on Argent's good side. “I can use them and communicate with them now. I have much new information to share about them.”
Argent wrote:If Argent is taken aback by the appearance of a drow elf, she does not show it. “Hi there, Lia. Forgive me for stating the obvious, but you two really don't look like twins.”
“It used to be more noticeable,” Talen says. “We were rewarded by the elfin gods for the completion of our mission to the Sylvan Realm. Lia choose to honor our grandmother and was changed into a drow. So, yes, our elfin part is dark elf instead of being a surface elf.”

Later on, Talen steps up to Sherwood and Jallarzi.
Sherwood wrote:“Well, if it isn't Lord Sculley,” Sherwood says in greetings to his cousin. “How do you feel? Kylie told me some of what happened to you after I left the Sylvan Realm.”
Talen lets out a sigh a the Lord Sculley comment. It was the ruse he used to help inspire the guards of Karn's Keep on their earlier trip here. “Well, your family name is much better known than mine,” Talen notes. “Lord Galandal just doesn't carry the same weight.”

“I feel good now,” Talen tells Sherwood. “The process was scary, but now I can communicate with and use Elder Artifacts. I've been able to uncover so much about the Elders.”
Jallarzi wrote:“We meet regularly to share information and make plans for what is to come,” Jallarzi explains. “Right now we have this morning to perform this task. Afterwards, we'll all be going our separate ways and our own individual tasks. I'll be returning to Corunglain myself shortly.”
“That was the place we visited right before heading off to the Sylvan Realm, right?” Talen tries to recall. “I thought it was attacked by orcs and such. What's going on there now?”

Sherwood:

“As for all these people, they are going on a mission with Lord Sharadin,” Sherwood explains. “I won't be going with them. Instead, I will be departing for the Southern Seas after this gathering. The adventuring band the Seekers of the Sword are sailing there on two of the Crown's galleons. They contacted Lord Sharadin for aid in a particular matter, but given all that is transpiring in Cynalon he cannot go and assist them. So, instead I will be going in his place. I have no idea just how long I will be away this time.”

“Well, if it isn't Lord Sculley,” Sherwood says in greetings to his cousin. “How do you feel? Kylie told me some of what happened to you after I left the Sylvan Realm.”

“Right now, no it does not,” Sherwood agrees. “But that may change in the future. You might want to get accustomed to being introduced as Lord Galandal when in Cynalon. Of course, Lia is Lady Galandal as well. I'm sure that many in court would find a drow elf being a noble of Cynalon scandalous, but they will have to adjust.”
Talen wrote:“I feel good now,” Talen tells Sherwood. “The process was scary, but now I can communicate with and use Elder Artifacts. I've been able to uncover so much about the Elders.”
“So I have heard,” Sherwood says, placing his hand on Talen's shoulder. “I am glad that you are alright. While the Elders were never much of an interest to me, there are others who would be fascinated in whatever information you discover. Scholars will be flocking to you.”

Lilia wrote:“Sherwood Elf-Friend,” Lilia says as she steps up to the Ranger-mage. “I am pleased that you made it home safely.”
“Your Majesty,” Sherwood responds as the Elfin Queen approaches. “Kylie told me about your promotion.”

“I didn't come back to Cynalon right away,” Sherwood continues. “I scouted out the Lands of Vassa pass the mountains to the east of the Sylvan Realm. Its the home of the Witch-King and his forces. I imagine that at some point you will come in conflict with them as may Cynalon. What I discovered may be of help to both of our nations.”
Lilia wrote:“You must return to the Sylvan Realm when you are able to see how we have progressed. The Rainbow Bridge has opened up once already and many elves have returned to their ancestral homeland.”
“I look forward to it,” Sherwood says. “Once things have settled down and peace comes to Cynalon.”
Kylie wrote:Afterwards, Kylie will look and ask around to see if Sherwood is still on the premises.
Sherwood makes sure to speak to Kylie before departing Karn's Keep.

“Hello, Kylie,” Sherwood will say. “How have you been?”
I do what is necessary.

Talen wrote:When able Talen will say his hellos to his other cousins. “Sherwood! Good to see you,” Talen will say. “And to you as well, Jallarzi. What's going on?”

Talen wrote:“That was the place we visited right before heading off to the Sylvan Realm, right?” Talen tries to recall. “I thought it was attacked by orcs and such. What's going on there now?”
“Turns out what happened their earlier was just part of a much larger conspiracy,” Jallarzi explains. “Our enemies have poisoned the minds of many in Cynalon, promising them higher status when the current rulers were removed. For instance, we thought the matter in Corunglain had been resolved and the rightful ruler restored. No, turns out his youngest son was in on the plot and had his surviving family killed so he could take control in his mad lust for power.”

“Orcs were let back in and were using the city as a staging area to field an army to move deeper into Cynalon,” Jallarzi continues. “We managed to redirect the Inner Kingdom Army and they moved towards Corunglain instead of Elcadan. Earlier I had captured a flying ship used by the Hextorites, the Heart of Hell, and we used it to strike at the traitors in Corunglain. They thought the ship was filled with allies, but it was not. With enemy leaders in Corunglain removed, the orc army fell apart and those who survived fled back to the Broken Lands. I'm part of the group helping to shore up Corunglain after this latest disaster.”
Kylie wrote:When Sharadin, Sherwood and Jallarzi appear done with their discussion and planning, Kylie will try to find an opportunity to approach Jallarzi. "Hi Jallarzi! “Hello, Kylie,” Jallarzi says in greeting. “Why thank you. You look very well yourself. Of course, what do you wish to know about that particular Argent?”

Kylie wrote:Argent's comment causes Kylie to chuckle. "I can imagine! You have your own version, too, as I recall. I wonder if I'll ever develop my own versions of spells - or even entirely new spells. Wouldn't that be cool!?"
“Totally cool!” Argent agrees with enthusiasm. “I already came up with a name for my own spell, 'Argent's Spell of Awesome Power!'.”
Kylie wrote:Kylie grimaces. "I can believe that. I still cannot believe some of the things I've seen and experienced in the past few weeks!"

Kylie wrote:"That is good to hear," Kylie replies. "Sounds like you are both adjusting to your new situation."

Mother Tree gave her the opportunity to be returned to her original elven form and Myev chose to accept that gift."
Argent goes over what Kylie says and eventually just gives up trying to make sense of it all. Turning back to the giant blue elf, Argent will say. “I thank you for all the help you give my 'sister'. She looks forward to seeing you again when able.”

Realizing that Myev cannot understand her words, Argent says to Kylie. “Could you translate that please? And ask her to put me down?”

Kylie wrote:Argent explains to her and Talen how she comes to be here. Kylie listens with interest to the tale. "At least you'll have Sharadin with you, and that should help."

December 8th, CR 571 or Deepnight 30th, 20,519 AP

The next morning, the elves arrive at the main gathering area of Karn's Keep to discover that many humans are present. Among them is the Argent who did not travel with the Guardians of Light nor was recently rescued from the Elder Ruins to the north of the Sylvan Realm. This Argent reveals that most everyone here was on a prior mission to ruins south of Elcadan called Baltron's Beacon. Lord Sharadin is returning there as it is believed to be the base of operations for the Cult of the Blackflame. Meeting and greeting follows.
Kylie wrote:"Ah, you trained with Chareos. He was a good companion when we traveled together. Have you heard anything of his current whereabouts or well-being?"
“He's Lord Chareos now for what he did in Corunglain,” Burant explains. “I saw him just yesterday. He was among the force who helped retake Corunglain a few days ago. Lord Chareos and Lady Argent are a couple now.”
Serena wrote:"Yes, it was Captain Roma. She seems both capable and fierce. Hopefully I'll get the chance to learn a bit more about Spell Engines from you if the time allows. I'm still very much a novice, I'm afraid."
“That she is,” Serena agrees about Captain Roma. “I'll be showing others how to properly use the Spell Engines as we travel. You are welcomed to join us.”
Kylie wrote:Introducing Argent to Myev gets out of hand very quickly. "Myev, please put Argent down. This is not the Argent you know from before. They're sort of like twins - well, triplets, really."
“Not friend?” Myev says in a puzzled tone to Kylie. “Looks like friend.”

Myev finally puts this Argent down and the situation is explained to her.

“That's really confusing!” Myev concludes.

Lilia wrote:Later, she'll speak with Lord Sharadin before the elves depart.

“Of course,” Lord Sharadin states. “They were a menace to all of us and needed to be dealt with. I hope that this incident will just spur further interactions between our peoples in the years to come.”

Now what?

Kylie Lanthorn the Half-Elven:
Talen wrote:“That's all true,” Talen agrees, trying to be humble. “It just strikes me as odd that if my family has so many great mages among them that I'm mediocre at it at best. I guess I'm being weighted down by my mother's side of the family. But as you said, I have other opportunities that more than make up for that deficiency.”
Kylie nods in thoughtful agreement with Talen's comments. "Instead of focusing on what you don't have, sometimes it is best to focus on what you do have - like me, for instance!" Her point is punctuated by a quick kiss on his cheek.
Talen wrote:“You're a sweet man as well,” Talen agrees. His eyes bulges wide in horror a moment later after he catches his error. “Girl! I meant sweet girl!”
Unable to restrain her amusement, Kylie bursts out laughing. "Goofy, too," she gasps out between peals of laughter.

Argent wrote:“Totally cool!” Argent agrees with enthusiasm. “I already came up with a name for my own spell, 'Argent's Spell of Awesome Power!'.”
Not surprisingly, her conversation with Argent quickly turns to the subject of magic. Her friend's enthusiasm for the subject brings a grin to Kylie's face. "That's a great name, Argent. I guess I'll need to come up with a name should I ever invent my own spell. I suppose a light-based spell could be called something like 'Lanthorn's Lantern'. What do you think?"
Argent wrote:“Life has certainly changed since we left Jallarzi's care,” Argent agrees. “Some bad things have happened, but many more good things as well. I think I'm starting to become happy with the life I am now leading. People are starting to know who I am. Important people, too! I mean I've met the King of Cynalon. I never would have thought that would have happened before all of this.”
"I'm glad to hear that you're adjusting to your life, Argent," Kylie says. "We do seem to be swimming in an elevated pond these days. Not quite the minnows that we once were."
Burant" wrote:“He's Lord Chareos now for what he did in Corunglain,” Burant explains. “I saw him just yesterday. He was among the force who helped retake Corunglain a few days ago. Lord Chareos and Lady Argent are a couple now.”
Argent introduces Kylie to her current boyfriend, Burant. "Good for him - on both counts. It hope things continue to go well for him. Perhaps I'll even get to see him again some day."
Serena wrote:“That she is,” Serena agrees about Captain Roma. “I'll be showing others how to properly use the Spell Engines as we travel. You are welcomed to join us.”
It seems that Argent's companion Serena is something of an expert on Spell Engines. "Thank you, Serena. I would like that."
Argent wrote:“We, meaning all three of us, are starting to come up with some long range goals and plans,” Argent explains. “Things that are an interest to all of us, but things I would have never had the time to do on my own. We're going to conquer the world, in our own way.”
"That sounds wonderful, Argent," Kylie replies. "I look forward to hearing what you and your sisters accomplish. I suspect that I will be busy with the Sylvan Realm for some time to come. Eventually, we're going to try to establish a half-elf clan home up there, so please be sure to tell any half-elven friends that you know."
Argent wrote:Argent goes over what Kylie says and eventually just gives up trying to make sense of it all. Turning back to the giant blue elf, Argent will say. “I thank you for all the help you give my 'sister'. She looks forward to seeing you again when able.”

Realizing that Myev cannot understand her words, Argent says to Kylie. “Could you translate that please? And ask her to put me down?”
Myev wrote:“That's really confusing!” Myev concludes.
Kylie translates as requested and repeats the request to Myev to put Argent down. It works and Myev complies, but admits to being confused. "She is a friend, but not the one you're thinking of. And yes, it is confusing for all of us."
Argent wrote:“Ooooo,” Argent says teasingly. “And people say I'm a tease!”
"And they are right," Kylie states in a matter-of-fact tone, then smirks.

Kylie listens quietly as Argent and Talen interact. It is good that they get a chance to become familiar with each other. She can't help being amused by Argent's threat and Talen's meek response. Probably just as well, since Argent would likely carry out her threat if Talen screws up. Fortunately, Argent handles the news of the twins being part dark elf well. She already knew how Kylie got her flying ability, so she's not really surprised by the mention of receiving a gift from the elven gods.

Jallarzi wrote:“Hello, Kylie,” Jallarzi says in greeting. “Why thank you. You look very well yourself. Of course, what do you wish to know about that particular Argent?”
After breakfast, Kylie seeks out her mentor. "Thank you, Jallarzi." Kylie pauses a moment to consider her initial questions. "I heard from Argent over there that she had taken a new name. Can you tell me about that? Also, do you think it would be okay for me to visit her sometime soon? If so, where in Corunglain does she live?"

Sherwood wrote:“Hello, Kylie,” Sherwood will say. “How have you been?”
It seems that Sherwood has been looking for her even as she was trying to catch up with him. "I'm doing well, uncle," Kylie replies, giving the older man a hug. "It seems like much longer than it has really been, so much has happened in these few days." Kylie looks up at him, trying to read his face. "How are you doing? I gather you've been very busy."

Lilia wrote:Speaking to the other elves, she'll say, “Come friends. Let us return to our ancestral home for the day.”
Kylie looks at Talen and Argent. "Well, I suspect we'll be leaving soon, too. We should probably get ready to go." Kylie will gather up her things and wait for the call to board the Lady Iris.

Laucian

Sorry for the delay, working almost 80 hours a week with two jobs.
Kylie wrote
Noting that Laucian is sitting with Gweyr, Kylie goes to their table next. "Good morning, Laucian. Good morning, Gweyr. This is Argent, though one you haven't met yet. Argent, this is Laucian, a woodsman and follower of Ehlonna. He is the deadliest shot with a bow that I have ever seen and the commander of our Golden Griffins. And this is Gweyr, a singularly-dedicated fire mage. I try to avoid getting on her bad side."
“Morning Kylie.” he states evenly. He looks to Argent and inclines his head. He rises from his seat and greets the clone mage civilly. “ Argent, It is nice to meet you. I trust you are well.”

Hi there,” Argent answers easily to the pair of elves. “I've heard of Laucian before. You traveled with Lady Argent for a time. Good to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you as well. Aye, It has been sometime since I left. She was quite powerful though a bit of a peacock. She likes her trinkets and babbles.” he says recalling the mage. “ How is Lady Argent these days and her group?” he asks curiously.
Lord Sharading wrote-
“Aid will be needed to transport the bodies of you kin,” Lord Sharadin will state. “I'll contact Kylie a few days before we make the attempt so that you can prepare.”
“I will be ready. It will do our people well to see them laid to rest in our ancestral home.”
“Not knowing is better than knowing, I’m afraid. My family is broken all that remains is my clansman and my faith in Ehlonna. My mother died when I was just a babe. My father I never knew. Some say he was a coward. Some say taken as a prisoner. I don’t know what to believe. All I know is he is out there and I’d like to think he is looking out for me even though the chances of that are slim to none.” he says somberly.

The Slyvan Realm is now my home. Everything I own an hold dear is there.” he stats as well. “ It is good to start a new.” he adds simply.
“We met Lyonessa in Elcadan,” Kayla adds. “Marvelous singing voice and strong in her faith.”
Laucian’s fine hearing hears the name and his eyes linger for a moment, wondering if there was anything more to the story. At least it sounds as though she is well, Silently he wonders if she still wears the necklace he gave her.
Mara wrote-
“I started my training about eight years ago,” Mara states. “I serve the Lady as a ranger. So am I to understand that you are a Knight of the Realm?”
A hearty laugh comes to the elf ranger cleric, “No, I am no knight, nor do I serve your people.” he says simply but not wishing to be rude. “ The Golden Gryphons of your realm are based upon ours in part. The Golden Gryphons are an air calvary unit. We ride actual Gryphons. We are from all walks of elfin life and are sworn to the protection of our way of life. Whether it be by scouting, sending messages or providing our ground troops air support with bow, blade or magic.”
Gweyr concentrates for a few seconds and small flames start to form about her body. Just as quickly as they appeared, the flames shrink and fade away all together.
Laucian takes a step away to be away from the flames.
“Good to see you again, Laucian,” Sherwood say as the two grasp hands. “How are things going in the Sylvan Realm?”
“Going well as can be expected. Our clans have claimed their ancestral homes after clearing out Spiders and bandits and such. The Golden Gryphons, Silver Maidens and Forest Riders are becoming more familiar with their new roles, Or I should say we are. Lastly, it is believed that slavers will appear soon in our realm, that will need to be dealt with upon their arrival. It seems as though dangers never stop these days.” he says simple to the elf friend.

“Well met, Laucian,” Jallarzi will say. “I am as well as can be expected considering the circumstances. I am pleased that your mission to the Sylvan Realm was a success.”
“I am too, though our losses were considerable.” he adds thoughtfully. “Freedom is never free.” he says weakly.
“We gather from time to time to share information and plan strategies,” Lord Sharadin answers. “Rarely are our gatherings this public, but time is short and we all have tasks to perform.”
“ I understand, I will not keep you from your work. But when you wish to see our Realm, I’d be happy to escort you all.” he says genuinely as he bows in respect.

Lia
Playing catch up. Sorry If I miss something.

“Remember the days when we had to walk everywhere?” Talen notes to his sister. “Things are so much easier now!”

Lia smiles and replies, “ Simple for you. I do not mind the earth feet. But you always were better with magics so I can see it’s appeal.” she says looking from beneath her cowl.
Lia takes a drink of her water as a Leather bound raven haired women and Kylie show up at their table. Looking up from her cowl, her lavender eyes, “Hail and well met, Argent.” Taking a bite of a muffin, “Boyfriend?”Looking to Kylie then Talen, “It’s about damn time!!! When did this happen?” she asks curiously looking at her brother more so than Kylie.
“Hello, Talen,” Argent says to the half-elf. “Break her heart and you will have to answer to me.”
If Argent is taken aback by the appearance of a drow elf, she does not show it. “Hi there, Lia. Forgive me for stating the obvious, but you two really don't look like twins.”
“Well met, Argent the third? I got the looks of the family, he got the brains.” she says with a grin looking to Talen then back at Argent, “ I was blessed by my patron. This is my boon. I wanted to experience Eilistraee’s life and honor my grandmother."She adds simply.

“Oh and Argent, if you harm my brother you will answer to my blade.” She says calmly yet cold to the leather bound mage as she takes a bite of an apple.
Later on Lia sees Talen speaking to Sherwood, over hearing what was being said,“Right now, no it does not,” Sherwood agrees. “But that may change in the future. You might want to get accustomed to being introduced as Lord Galandal when in Cynalon. Of course, Lia is Lady Galandal as well. I'm sure that many in court would find a drow elf being a noble of Cynalon scandalous, but they will have to adjust.”
“Lady Galandal? I think Lia suits me better Uncle.” Walking up and giving him a hug and kiss on the cheek in greeting. A thought does come to her mind and she asks curiously,
“If we did decide to entertain the nobility of Cynalon, is there not a symbol our family has used or a signet? Perhaps Talen should acquire such a ring.” she asks her uncle.
The last thing you shall hear is the bladesong of my sword.

Argent wrote:“Really?” Argent says in surprise. “I was not aware that Elfin Royalty was along on that mission.”
“I was just another elf at that time,” Lilia explains. “Elfin Royalty, as you put it, is an elected position and unlike your rulers in Cynalon. I simply speak for the Sylvan Realm in matters outside our borders. Much has happened since my time with the Guardians.”
Sherwood wrote:“Your Majesty,” Sherwood responds as the Elfin Queen approaches. “Kylie told me about your promotion.”
“It was a surprise to me at the time, but afterwards it seemed to be the obvious conclusion of my journey since leaving Einsun,” Lilia states. “As I recall, I was reluctant to leave with you all those months ago. I had no idea where that journey would lead me.”
Sherwood wrote:“I didn't come back to Cynalon right away,” Sherwood continues. “I scouted out the Lands of Vassa pass the mountains to the east of the Sylvan Realm. Its the home of the Witch-King and his forces. I imagine that at some point you will come in conflict with them as may Cynalon. What I discovered may be of help to both of our nations.”
“As I recall, the original plan to reach the Sylvan Realm involved us completely avoiding those lands,” Lilia remembers. “Are they truly as dangerous as believed?”
Sherwood wrote:“I look forward to it,” Sherwood says. “Once things have settled down and peace comes to Cynalon.”
“Of course,” Lilia says with a nod. “Peace tends to be a worthy, but elusive, goal.”
Lord Sharadin wrote:“Of course,” Lord Sharadin states. “They were a menace to all of us and needed to be dealt with. I hope that this incident will just spur further interactions between our peoples in the years to come.”
“I agree,” Lilia states. “Rising up together against a common threat is the sign of a civilized society. In time, we will be looking for regular trade with Cynalon. The Elder Pillars will help us be not so far away.”

After saying her final goodbyes, Lilia will board the Sunflower in preparation for the journey back to the Elfholds.
Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!

Valena:
Mara wrote:“Mara Korvin,” the human answers. “A ranger in the service of the Lady of the Forests. Good to meet you, Priestess.”
Valena and the human ranger will chat for a time. Laucian comes over to say his greetings as well. Mara mistakes Laucian's griffon riders for the human kings order of knights.
Laucian wrote:A hearty laugh comes to the elf ranger cleric, “No, I am no knight, nor do I serve your people.” he says simply but not wishing to be rude. “ The Golden Gryphons of your realm are based upon ours in part. “We, along with other followers of the Lady of the Forests, are also working to restoring her shrine in the Sylvan Realm,” Valena adds. “Among our many tasks.”
Argent wrote:“I've heard your name before, Valena,” Argent states. “You're the one who taught Lady Argent how to use a bow. And here I thought she was making all that up!”
“That indeed was me,” Valena says. “Lady Argent was, shall we say, a unique student. She picked up the bow in the heat of battle and for a novice did better than expected. As she put it at the time, at least she didn't shoot herself.”
Argent wrote:“Silver Maidens? Lady elves really good at archery?”
“Most elves are good at archery,” Valena points out. “However the Silver Maidens are lady elves who have unicorns as companions.”
Sherwood wrote:“Good to see you as well, Valena,” Sherwood will say warmly.
“A sensible plan,” Valena agrees. “A unique opportunity to scout out the enemy. Such intelligence could be vital in the days to come.”
Sherwood wrote:“As for all these people, they are going on a mission with Lord Sharadin,” Sherwood explains.
“You do tend to travel from place to place,” Valena observes. “Sailing the Southern Seas should be an interesting experience. May the Lady of the Forest watch over you on your mission.”

When the time comes, Valena will return to the Sunflower for the voyage back to the Elfholds.

With both Kylie and Argent there, it seems like as good a time as any to ask. "By the way, who is the woman sitting and talking with Lords Sharadin and Sherwood? I don't believe that I have met her."

Lia wrote:Lia smiles and replies, “Simple for you. I do not mind the earth feet. But you always were better with magics so I can see it’s appeal.” she says looking from beneath her cowl.
“Well, it just means we have more places to travel to and explore,” Talen notes. “It takes a long time to travel anywhere on foot.”

Alone with Kylie in Karn's Keep:
Kylie wrote:Kylie nods in thoughtful agreement with Talen's comments. "Instead of focusing on what you don't have, sometimes it is best to focus on what you do have - like me, for instance!" Her point is punctuated by a quick kiss on his cheek.
“I like the way you think,” Talen easily agrees as he hugs Kylie.
Kylie wrote:Unable to restrain her amusement, Kylie bursts out laughing. "Goofy, too," she gasps out between peals of laughter.
“I've always been a bit goofy and tongue-tied in the presence of beautiful women,” Talen admits as his face turns red from embarrassment.

Meeting another Argent the next morning. Kylie mentions our relationship and that gets Argent and Lia's attention.
Lia wrote:“Boyfriend?” Looking to Kylie then Talen, “It’s about damn time!!! When did this happen?” she asks curiously looking at her brother more so than Kylie.
“Uhm, yeah,” Talen mutters as his sister basically announces this to the entire world. “It started back in the Sylvan Realm and has grown since then. We were trying not to make a big deal out of it.”
Argent wrote:“The other me told me some of what she discovered, but I would definitely like to learn more as well,” Argent tells Talen. “Study of the Elders has been a hobby of mine for many years now. As I understand it, you'll be traveling with us on the Lady Iris for a time. We can talk then.”
“Okay,” Talen agrees. “I'll tell you what I've learned so far on the trip.”
Argent wrote:“I see,” Argent answers without showing any surprise. “I had met a half-drow before when I was with the Company of the Sword. He called himself Mercy and was a Priest of Mortidus. He was a decent fellow.”
“I guess we're not as rare as I thought,” Talen says to Lia in regards to the number of half-dark elves out in the world.
Sherwood wrote:“Right now, no it does not,” Sherwood agrees. “But that may change in the future. You might want to get accustomed to being introduced as Lord Galandal when in Cynalon. Of course, Lia is Lady Galandal as well. I'm sure that many in court would find a drow elf being a noble of Cynalon scandalous, but they will have to adjust.”
“I'm not sure who I feel about that,” Talen admits about being a noble. “I mean, we didn't grow up thinking we were all that different from everyone else back in Lost Valley.”
Lia wrote:“Lady Galandal? I think Lia suits me better Uncle.” Walking up and giving him a hug and kiss on the cheek in greeting. A thought does come to her mind and she asks curiously, “If we did decide to entertain the nobility of Cynalon, is there not a symbol our family has used or a signet? Perhaps Talen should acquire such a ring.” she asks her uncle.
Talen has to admit that he is curious about that as well. “I suppose that such a thing would have its advantages.”
Sherwood wrote:“So I have heard,” Sherwood says, placing his hand on Talen's shoulder. “I am glad that you are alright. While the Elders were never much of an interest to me, there are others who would be fascinated in whatever information you discover. Scholars will be flocking to you.”
“Yeah, that's what everyone keeps telling me,” Talen says. “At any rate, I consider myself to be the Guardian of the Elders now. I'll take care of those things they made so they can't be used to hurt others.”
“I guess that makes sense,” Talen agrees.
Jallarzi wrote:“Turns out what happened their earlier was just part of a much larger conspiracy,” Jallarzi explains.

“Wow,” Talen says. “I had no idea that things were so chaotic down here.”

“Most adventurers never do,” Sherwood says. “Most think that they are going out to explore the world. In actuality, the long journey usually leads to discovering ones own self. I would say that is where your journey led you.”
Lilia wrote:“As I recall, the original plan to reach the Sylvan Realm involved us completely avoiding those lands,” Lilia remembers. “Are they truly as dangerous as believed?”
“It's hard to say,” Sherwood admits. “Its called the wastelands of Vassa for a reason. Much of the land is not fit to live on. Oh, there are towns and cities here and there. But nothing that strikes you as being a dangerous nation. No, it is the Witch-King himself that is the true threat. But the true nature of his threat eluded my scouting.”
Lilia wrote:“Of course,” Lilia says with a nod. “Peace tends to be a worthy, but elusive, goal.”
“It always is,” Sherwood agrees.
Valena wrote:“You do tend to travel from place to place,” Valena observes. “Sailing the Southern Seas should be an interesting experience. May the Lady of the Forest watch over you on your mission.”
“It will be different,” Sherwood admits. “Granted, I'm more a home in a forest than on a ship. But one must adapt. Ehlonna bless you as well.”

“That usually seems to be the case,” Sherwood agrees. “It feels like I've been moving on from one crisis to the next for years now. Hopefully, all this sacrifice will pay off down the line and things will be better for all.”

“Cousin, Lia,” Sherwood says as they exchange greetings. “We're cousins. Lord Sharadin is our uncle. And I agree. After all, how often have you heard me introduced as a lord?”
Lia wrote:A thought does come to her mind and she asks curiously, “If we did decide to entertain the nobility of Cynalon, is there not a symbol our family has used or a signet? Perhaps Talen should acquire such a ring.” she asks her uncle.
Talen wrote:Talen has to admit that he is curious about that as well. “I suppose that such a thing would have its advantages.”
“Like most things in life, there are advantages and disadvantages to it,” Sherwood will say. “As I understand it, you two would need to be announced as newly discovered members of the family. Some sort of ceremony at the family estate in Alexandria. There are signet rings for family identification.”
Talen wrote:“Yeah, that's what everyone keeps telling me,” Talen says. “At any rate, I consider myself to be the Guardian of the Elders now. I'll take care of those things they made so they can't be used to hurt others.”
“A noble aspiration,” Sherwood says.
Kylie wrote:It seems that Sherwood has been looking for her even as she was trying to catch up with him. "I'm doing well, uncle," Kylie replies, giving the older man a hug. "It seems like much longer than it has really been, so much has happened in these few days." Kylie looks up at him, trying to read his face. "How are you doing? I gather you've been very busy."
“Busy seems to be my normal state,” Sherwood tells Kylie. “I did have some time here at Karn's Keep to learn new spells when you returned with your mother and Argent. In fact, I'm getting ready to depart on another mission after this gathering. I'm catching up with the Seekers of the Sword. They need help on their mission down in the Southern Seas.”

And once Talen and Kylie are together, Sherwood adds, “It seems that congratulations are in order to both of you. You make a fine couple.”

“And the price is always high,” Jallarzi adds solemnly.
Kylie wrote:After breakfast, Kylie seeks out her mentor. "Thank you, Jallarzi." Kylie pauses a moment to consider her initial questions. "I heard from Argent over there that she had taken a new name. Can you tell me about that? Also, do you think it would be okay for me to visit her sometime soon? If so, where in Crossroads she live?"
“Well, not so much a new name, but rather an old one,” Jallarzi says. “Argent is not her given name, but rather one that she choose after starting on the path to learn magic. The Argent you returned with from the Sylvan Realm decided to go back to her birth name. Last I knew she went back home to work in her parents store. No doubt, making elaborate plans to increase the fortunes of her family.”

“Argent's real name has always be a sore spot for her,” Jallarzi continues. “She revealed it to me right before she became my apprentice. In return, I promised to never reveal it to any one. You know me well enough by now to know that I will not break my word, so I will not tell you what it is.”

“I'm sure that she would be delighted to see you once more, Kylie,” Jallarzi concludes. “There is a teleport destination in the packet that Sherwood gave you for the Blushing Maiden Inn. It's our arrival point for Crossroads. Argent's family runs a store in the merchant district. It's called Tanner's Goods and its close to the intersection of Sancona Street and Tursoll Road.”
Sherwood wrote:And once Talen and Kylie are together, Sherwood adds, “It seems that congratulations are in order to both of you. You make a fine couple.”
Jallarzi comes over after hearing about the new couple in the family.

“I'm so happy for both of you!” Jallarzi says as she hugs both Kylie and Talen. “It's been far too long since we've had a wedding in the family!”

“I see,” Argent says in response to the revelation that elfin royalty are elected. “Elves seem to do things differently from the other civilized races.”
Laucian wrote:“Morning Kylie.” he states evenly. He looks to Argent and inclines his head. He rises from his seat and greets the clone mage civilly. “Argent, It is nice to meet you. I trust you are well.”
“Can't complain,” Argent states. “Wouldn't do any good if I did.”
Laucian wrote:“Nice to meet you as well. Aye, It has been sometime since I left. She was quite powerful though a bit of a peacock. She likes her trinkets and babbles.” he says recalling the mage.
“Yeah, that sounds like her,” Argent agrees with a chuckle. “And me as well.”
Laucian wrote:“How is Lady Argent these days and her group?” he asks curiously.
“The Guardians?” Argent says rhetorically. “Smack in the middle of the Civil War. Their actually split up right now. After the attack on Elcadan, one group traveled south towards Athenos, the rest north to Corunglain. That's where all of us here came from.”
Valena wrote:“That indeed was me,” Valena says. “Lady Argent was, shall we say, a unique student. She picked up the bow in the heat of battle and for a novice did better than expected. As she put it at the time, at least she didn't shoot herself.”

Valena wrote:“Most elves are good at archery,” Valena points out. “However the Silver Maidens are lady elves who have unicorns as companions.”
“Unicorns?!” Argent sputters in disbelief. “You've made friends with unicorns?”
Onas wrote:With both Kylie and Argent there, it seems like as good a time as any to ask. "By the way, who is the woman sitting and talking with Lords Sharadin and Sherwood? I don't believe that I have met her."
“That is Lady Jallarzi Sallavarian,” Argent explains. “She is a distant cousin to Lord Sharadin and Sherwood. She is also mine and Kylie's instructor in the magical arts. We are among her apprentices. The three of them work together putting together adventuring groups to go out and do the things that need to be done.”
Kylie wrote:Not surprisingly, her conversation with Argent quickly turns to the subject of magic. Her friend's enthusiasm for the subject brings a grin to Kylie's face. "That's a great name, Argent. I guess I'll need to come up with a name should I ever invent my own spell. I suppose a light-based spell could be called something like 'Lanthorn's Lantern'. What do you think?"
“It flows easily off the tongue,” Argent says. “Not something I would have come up with, but then again we are different kind of mages.”
Kylie wrote:"I'm glad to hear that you're adjusting to your life, Argent," Kylie says. "We do seem to be swimming in an elevated pond these days. Not quite the minnows that we once were."
“That is true,” Argent agrees. “Lady Argent seems to like being a noble. Perhaps a bit too much. Granted, I like others paying attention to me, so perhaps I would act like that in her shoes. Of course I am her, so that sort of answers that question doesn't it?”
Kylie wrote:"That sounds wonderful, Argent," Kylie replies. "I look forward to hearing what you and your sisters accomplish. I suspect that I will be busy with the Sylvan Realm for some time to come. Eventually, we're going to try to establish a half-elf clan home up there, so please be sure to tell any half-elven friends that you know."
“Oh, we'll keep in touch so we can compare notes,” Argent assures Kylie. “We can both cast teleport now, so distance is no longer an issue. Plus, I imagine that Jallarzi has other plans for both of us. We're going to be her apprentices for a very long time.”
Kylie wrote:"And they are right," Kylie states in a matter-of-fact tone, then smirks.

When did this happen?” she asks curiously looking at her brother more so than Kylie.
Talen wrote:“Uhm, yeah,” Talen mutters as his sister basically announces this to the entire world. “It started back in the Sylvan Realm and has grown since then. We were trying not to make a big deal out of it.”
Kylie winces slightly at Lia's outburst, but is happy to let Talen field her query. Fortunately, he handles it well, so she keeps quiet.
Onas wrote:With both Kylie and Argent there, it seems like as good a time as any to ask. "By the way, who is the woman sitting and talking with Lords Sharadin and Sherwood? I don't believe that I have met her."
Argent wrote:“That is Lady Jallarzi Sallavarian,” Argent explains. “She is a distant cousin to Lord Sharadin and Sherwood. She is also mine and Kylie's instructor in the magical arts. We are among her apprentices. The three of them work together putting together adventuring groups to go out and do the things that need to be done.”
Argent is quicker to reply than Kylie can manage. Her answer is sufficiently complete, so Kylie finds she has nothing to add.
Argent wrote:“It flows easily off the tongue,” Argent says. “Not something I would have come up with, but then again we are different kind of mages.”
"Just something that popped into my head," Kylie admits. "I don't really even have a good idea for a spell to go with it. Good thing I have plenty of time to think about such things."
Argent wrote:“That is true,” Argent agrees. “Lady Argent seems to like being a noble. Perhaps a bit too much. Granted, I like others paying attention to me, so perhaps I would act like that in her shoes. Of course I am her, so that sort of answers that question doesn't it?”
A perplexed look crosses Kylie's face. "This whole situation is so new, I'm not sure we really have a good sense of how much you all are different and how much you are alike."
Argent wrote:“Oh, we'll keep in touch so we can compare notes,” Argent assures Kylie. “We can both cast teleport now, so distance is no longer an issue. Plus, I imagine that Jallarzi has other plans for both of us. We're going to be her apprentices for a very long time.”
"Good point," Kylie says with a sigh.
Lia wrote:Argent lets out a laugh at Lia's protectiveness of her brother. “I like her!” Argent tells Kylie. “She's got a sassy streak to her!”
"Yup, that's our Lia," Kylie answers with a smile.
Sherwood wrote:“Busy seems to be my normal state,” Sherwood tells Kylie. “I did have some time here at Karn's Keep to learn new spells when you returned with your mother and Argent. In fact, I'm getting ready to depart on another mission after this gathering. I'm catching up with the Seekers of the Sword. They need help on their mission down in the Southern Seas.”
Kylie listens to Sherwood's description of his near-term plans. "I hope your mission with the Seekers goes well. Events in the Sylvan Realm have kept us quite busy, too, and I don't see that changing anytime soon." It's not the first time that she's had cause to wonder when they might get a break to pursue more personal matters.
Jallarzi wrote:“Well, not so much a new name, but rather an old one,” Jallarzi says.

"I see," Kylie replies, nodding. "She went back to using her birth name; I think she mentioned once that Argent was not her 'real' name, though I had forgotten until now. I am happy to wait and let her reveal it if she chooses to do so."

Kylie mentally pictures the area that Jallarzi describes. She doesn't know that part of Crossroads well, but is fairly certain that she can find it. "Yes, I've seen that one in the packet Sherwood gave me, though I haven't actually tried it yet. I think I can find my way from their to the shop. Thank you for letting me know, Jallarzi."
Sherwood wrote:And once Talen and Kylie are together, Sherwood adds, “It seems that congratulations are in order to both of you. You make a fine couple.”
"Thank you, Sherwood. Our relationship has grown slowly, but hopefully that means it will last."
Jallarzi wrote:“I'm so happy for both of you!” Jallarzi says as she hugs both Kylie and Talen. “It's been far too long since we've had a wedding in the family!”
"Wha-? Wedding?!" Kylie exclaims. "That seems a bit premature, Jallarzi, considering that we've only kissed once or twice."

Not far away, Onas overhears Argent's exclamation and smiles. The elven way of life can seem quite foreign to others.

Onas glances back at the trio before returning his attention to Argent and Kylie. "Thank you, Argent. I thought I detected some family resemblance. And she trained both of you... She must be quite the teacher."
