Sylvan Realm #29 (#73)

The elves who were scattered across the Sylvan Realm and beyond are slowly starting to come back together in preparation for invading the lair of the HIVE.

The Mother Tree

December 4th, CR 571 or Deepnight 26th, 20,519 AP

It is late in the evening when the Sunflower returns to the Mother Tree. While the elves were away, Myev emerged from her cocoon in the form of a very unusual elf. She was very tall and her skin was blue. The newly elfin Myev sees the wonder in the world around her that she could not see before.
Kylie wrote:"Well that's good. The griffons now see you as an elf, and not an orc or scro," Kylie says encouragingly.
“I look nothing like an scro any more,” Myev replies. “I doubt my own mother would recognize me.”
Lilia wrote:“I'm sure that can be arranged,” Lilia says referring to visiting the Argent Myev met. “We seem to be going back to Cynalon often as of late.”
Kylie wrote:"I may be able to help with that," Kylie suggests. "I now can cast Teleport, and am able to do so directly to Karn's Keep."
Lilia wrote:“Unfortunately, Argent was not at Karn's Keep when we were there yesterday,” Lilia adds. “You might have to track her down. More information can be gained when we travel there in a few days. Myev might as well come along with us.”
“Oh, we'll work it out when the time comes,” Myev easily says with a wave. “Now that you mention it, I think I can cast Teleport as well. Our rather my elfin part could. I'll have to look in my spellbook. That parts kind of fuzzy to me.”
Kylie wrote:It is not long before Myev reaches her cabin on the Sunflower. It quickly becomes apparent that the bed is not longer long enough for a woman of her height. "Unfortunately, these beds were sized for humans, and you are now taller than most any human I've ever seen."
“Maybe if I sleep sideways...,” Myev wonders as she tries to picture how she could fit comfortably on the bed.

While Myev and Kylie talk, Gweyr emerges from the cabin across the hall, the one Argent had used. Beside the petite fire mage is her cooshee friend Blaze.
Kylie wrote:The fire mage and her cooshee emerge from her cabin across the hall in response to the commotion. "Hi Gweyr! This is Myev; she recently emerged from Mother Tree's cocoon in this very different form. She wanted to return for her spell book and is still getting used to her new body.
“I see...,” Myev slowly answers taking in the blue elf that is over two feet taller than her. “Hello, Myev. You are a most unusual elf.”

“Hi!” Myev says cheerfully with a wave. “Wow, what lovely red hair you have.”

“Why thank you,” Gweyr answers getting a bit more at ease. “So, I take it you are mage as well? I specialize in fire magic myself. I burn things down, sometimes with great glee. What kind of magic do you favor?”

The Elfin Palace:

December 5th, CR 571 or Deepnight 27th, 20,519 AP

Next morning, the Sunflower is off once more. This time it flies south to the Elfin Palace. Along the way, Myev is found going over the charts in the Captain's Cabin.
Lilia wrote:“They are not of our lands,” Lilia will confirm. “But rather the lands where the Sunflower comes from. I take it that you understand these maps and how to read them? Can you plot a course?”
“Yes, yes and yes,” Myev answers her eyes not looking away from the charts. “But I can't chart a course on this world without nautical maps for it. Otherwise, it's just guess work.”
Lia wrote:“I don’t believe they are. We have not brought maps of our lands to the ship. Do you know of the stars that brought you here? Could you retrace them?” she asks the blue elf curiously.
“I would be able to retrace the course we took from Dreatar,” Myev says looking at Lia. “Not sure if you would want to go that way, though. It's all kind of a blur to me, anyway. That journey took many weeks and as I understand it, we will be going there in a much faster way.”

Later up on deck, Myev mentions on boring the sky is.
Lilia wrote:“What do you mean boring? How is the sky boring?” Lilia questions. “What is this 'God of War' that you speak of? Are these in the skies of your home?”
“The God of War,” Myev repeats with emphasis. “Large reddish object that fills much of the sky? I can only see one moon up in your sky. Where are the rest?”
Lia wrote:Lia looks confused for a moment but then something clicks. “Are you referring to formations in the sky. Drawings if you will.(Basic Astronomy)
“Constellations?” Myev asks. “No, not those. Your sky is different, but I mean the big objects in it not points of light.”
Lilia wrote:“I don't believe she is,” Lilia notes. “From that I gather there are simply more objects in her sky although I have no idea what such objects could be.”
“Yes, yes, that's it!” Myev says pointing at Lilia. “Your sky is so barren and dull. You should do something about that.”

After two hours of travel, the Sunflower reaches the Satheas River and comes in for a landing. The ship is maneuvered to the docks of Pinit, across the river from the Elfin Palace. The passengers of the Sunflower disembark as Myev goes off to explore.
Lilia wrote:Moving from the Sunflower and into Pinit, Lilia will look to find the Long Runner Clan Master. “Clan Master Goldenleaf, it is good to see you,” Lilia will say. “If you are able to assist, I have a task that I need help with. The Sunflower here has much cargo and treasure on it. I wish for it to be removed and placed into storage. Soon we will be in battle against the former owners of the ship and I do not wish for them to reclaim these goods. We will be able to use their cargo and treasure to acquire goods to benefit all of the Sylvan Realm. Let's also remove the spare Spell Engine as well. It'll be the one without a fire burning in it.”
“Welcome back, Your Majesty,” Clan Master Goldenleaf replies. “How can Clan Long Runner assist you?” The Clan Master listens to Lilia request and quickly understands what she is getting at. “I will oversee the matter personally.”

In the town itself, two of the newest Silver Maidens are met, but Myev is far more interested in the elfin cats. She says that they reminder her of smaller versions of felines on her world.
Lilia wrote:“Then would they not be smaller versions of the creatures you have back home?” Lilia will wonder. “Here they are called 'cats'. These ones in particular are elfin cats.”
“Yeah, I guess they would be that,” Myev says with a laugh. “Cats, huh? What an odd name.”
Kylie wrote:Myev is enchanted by the felines, and Lilia explains that they are called 'elven cats'. "You mentioned that there are much larger cats where you come from. What are they like?" Kylie asks.
“Much bigger versions of these little ones,” Myev tells Kylie. “We call them sabers. We ride them.”

The Sunflower's arrival in Pinit draws the attention of those in the Elfin Palace. Doriath, Speaker Allurien and the High Priests of Corellon and Angharradh soon appear. Greetings and introductions are exchanged.
Lilia wrote:“Very well,” Lilia will report. “We will be gathering our forces today and in the morning we will be taking the Sunflower back to Cynalon. Together with our allies there, we will be taking the fight to the HIVE itself. The tall, blue elf is Myev in her transformed state.”
“I see,” Doriath says taking in all the news. Turning to Myev he adds, “Hello, Myev. How are you?”

“Excited to be here,” Myev answers easily. “This palace of yours is so wonderful!”

“That is is,” Doriath responds. “It is a gift from our ancestors.”

The High Priests are unsure what to make of Myev with Mclandrach muttering, “The All-Father works in mysterious ways.”
Kylie wrote:Soon Allurien appears, along with Doriath and a number of other important elves. Kylie flies over and gives her mother a big hug. "Hi, Mom!" she says, then turning, "Hello, Doriath." She also greets those she knows among the other elves.
“Hello, Kylie,” Speaker Allurien says to her daughter. “I trust your trip was a pleasant one?”

“Lady Kylie,” Doriath replies with a nod.

The group who explored the Elfin Palace reports there findings. The Temple of Corellon was found. The temple proper itself is on the ground, but the living areas for it are up in the trees. High Priest Mclandrach found the altar that is controlling the thorny growth that envelopes the Elfin Palace. Once the altar is consecrated to him, he should be able to remove this defensive measure.
Lilia wrote:“That is good news, High Priest,” Lilia agrees with a nod.
Kylie wrote:Listening to their report, it sounds like they finished exploring almost the entire palace. Corellon's high priest states that they will be able to remove the thorny growth once they have consecrated the altar. This causes a question to pop into Kylie's mind. "High Priest, would you also be able to control it's growth? I can see where it could be very useful for defense if we were able to limit its growth and only have it grow in certain areas in a controlled way."
“I won't know for sure until I can control it,” Mclandrach tells Kylie. “I agree that being able to control it and limit what areas that it covers would be a boon to the Palace's defenses.”

Speaker Allurien and those with her lead the group back into the Elfin Palace as there are several things that wish to show. Myev continues to show off her skill at climbing trees.
Kylie wrote:Allurien then leads them into the palace to show them what else they found. Myev climbs rapidly up the trees like a monkey rather than taking the bridge with everyone else. Kylie flies along between, keeping pace with both her friend and the main group. "That's quite a new skill you have there, Myev," she says. "You seem very at home in the trees."
“Aren't all elves at home in the trees?” Myev asks. “Moving like this is as easy to me as walking.”

The first place reached on the tour is a beautiful grotto near the base of the northern gardens tree.
Lilia wrote:“It is beautiful,” Lilia will agree. “So peaceful.”
Lia wrote:“It looks beautiful. A nice place to rest and reflect.” The priestess says with a smile.
Kylie wrote:They travel through the palace, with Allurien and Mclandrach providing commentary as they go. Consistent with what they saw when they found the pillar artifact, it seems that there are at least two levels to palace, with Corellon's temple being on the ground level as well. There are also beautiful gardens, and Allurien shows them to a grotto with a pond and a large cave. The water from the pond appears to make it's way down into the cave through various pools. "It would be fun to take a soak in one of these pools someday," Kylie murmurs softly, wondering if she will ever find the time for something so leisurely.
“What is most peculiar about this pool is the water,” Speaker Allurien states. “It's ocean water, not fresh river water. How that is possible is beyond me.”

Moving on, the group reaches a memorial to all the Elfin Clans. Those who survived the move from Evergreen to the Sylvan Realm and those who did not.
Lilia wrote:“I do not recognize them either,” Lilia says to Doriath in reference to the four unknown clans on the surviving list. “I do remember an old tale that not all the clans who left Evergreen made the journey to the Sylvan Realm. That they wished to settle elsewhere. I wonder if this story is true and that is what became of those four clans we are unfamiliar with? Perhaps there are still around now, but in unknown places?”
“That is a common myth,” Doriath agrees. “Is it true? Well, it was twenty thousand years ago. Now? No one knows.”
Lilia wrote:Lilia turns her gaze to the list of the clan that were lost. “I knew that not all elves survived the disaster, but I had no idea that so many clans were did not make it. Thirty clans were lost. That must haven been many thousands of elves taken from us in that disaster.”
“Given all that, its a miracle that our ancestors even survived to reach the Sylvan Realm at all,” High Priestess Soliana adds. “So much was lost.”

While at the memorial, Lia starts to feel a familiar tingling telling her that something dedicated to Eilistraee is near.
Lia wrote:Hairs begin to raise upon the back of Lia’s neck as she rises to her feet. She looks to the south as a feeling she would not soon forget greets her. She narrows her eyes then begins to smile, “Has the way south been searched?” she asks the Speaker.
“We found some caves near the bottom of the Southern Garden,” Allurien answers. “They seemed to be abandoned.”
Lia wrote:Lia will slowly draw her longsword, “The Dark Maiden! I can feel her power near!” Lia scans the area to the south looking for a way to move. She will slowly move in the direction of feeling looking for signs of her patron.
Kylie wrote:"You sense danger, Lia?" Kylie asks, rising into the air. She mentally reviews the spells she has in memory and follows along behind Lia as she seeks the source of whatever it is that the dark elf is sensing.
Lia wrote:“Danger? Far from it.” Lia says simply. “The Dark Maiden is a name associated with my patron. I feel the presence of Eilistraee. A temple maybe near.”
Lilia wrote:“Lia is sensing the power of her patron near by,” Lilia speaks up in an unconcerned voice. “I can feel the power of Corellon not far away as well. I am pleased that his daughter has a place of her own close by.”
“Not all elves may be pleased with that,” Mclandrach adds noncommittally. “Too many elves only see a drow, not a fallen and then redeemed daughter of the All-Father. They will make good neighbors.”

“I think I've heard of Corellon before,” Myev blurts out, “but who is this Eilistraee? That one is a tongue twister!”

A little further to the south, Lia makes her way through the light forest with Kylie and Talen following behind. The entrance to the caves are found. It is wide enough and tall enough that no one has to duck. The cave slopes downward and it passes through several empty chambers. Lia is a bit further ahead, but Kylie can keep pace by flying. Suddenly Lia seems to pass through a solid wall and vanishes! From Kylie's point of view, Lia was there and then she was gone! The rock ahead of Kylie and Talen feels solid.

Einsun

December 5th, CR 571 or Deepnight 27th, 20,519 AP

At long last, the spiders infesting Einsun have been eliminated! It took an onslaught of arrows and spells to fell the massive mother spider, while the smaller ones rushed headlong into a Blade Barrier erected by Tisha. In the midst of this chaos, Valena appeared on top of River Blossom. The pair are forced to blink away from the horde of spiders to safety.

Realizing that the main source of danger has passed, the elves start to clean up the mess the spiders made. At the Clan Master's direction, the wounded are gathered up and moved to the eastern side of the Open Market area. No spider activity was noted in this region. A place to camp for the night is set up, along with a place for the wounded to rest and be healed. Four elves perished in the battle, having been crushed when the massive mother spider landed on them.

The scouts move out using torches to burn away more of the webbing and freeing those trapped within cocoons. Five more Alaghi are freed from the webs and they flee off into the forest. The familiar owl wings its way back to Laucian.

“You have upheld your vow,” the owl intones. “You have my thanks and the thanks of my kin. We will contact you when we are ready to be friends. Until then be safe, children of the forest.” With those parting words, the owl flies off once more.

Later that afternoon, Valena reveals the reason for her visit. The Queen is gathering forces for an attack against the HIVE! Valena is here to recruit Laucian and to give Annelwin a message. Laucian informs the Clan Master that he will be departing.
Laucian wrote:“The queen has summoned me to the palace, and I must go. May Ehlonna bless your leadership our people and our home.”
“The worst is over with,” Clan Master Triestar will say. “Go and do what you must. We will work to restore the Clan Hold while you are away.”

Seeing that Laucian plans to depart immediately, Silver Maiden Annelwin rushes up to him.

“Laucian! Wait!” Annelwin calls out. “The palace is too far away for you to reach on your griffon. Valena had another method of transport in mind. Come the morning, Rainbow and I will take you to Pinit with just a blink. Until that time, come and enjoy the fruits of your labors with your clan. Rest up for it sounds like that you will need it tomorrow.”

Right after nightfall, Valena departs once more as she has to reach Walltree to recruit more allies to fight against the HIVE.

Walltree:

December 5th, CR 571 or Deepnight 27th, 20,519 AP

And in Walltree night has fallen as have the humans that occupied the Clan Hold. Most were getting ready for a relaxing evening when Valena arrived with news of what else was going on at the other Clan Holds across the Sylvan Realm. Arlen and Onas Brightsword were her recruits this time. They will be departing at first light transported by Valena and Fayrianna's unicorns.
Onas wrote:It seems they will be leaving in the morning, so that just leaves the evening for any last preparations. Being young, Onas still has quite an appetite, particularly after such a large battle. Thus, he will relax with some food and a bit of fey wine to appease his stomach. Eventually, he spots Fayrianna and invites her to join in his repast.

"It's been quite a day, and it sounds like the next few will be no less so." He crunches a few nuts between his teeth. "Still, this was an important victory, and we have our ancestral home back. It will take time to rebuild, but that is no less than what was expected."
“Aye that it has,” Fayrianna easily says. “It's been a while since I've been in a battle like this. It feels good to fight with our clan and to free our home. Alas, I will not be joining you on when you take the fight to these parasites. Someone must guard the Sylvan Realms while you are away after all.”

“Perhaps after you have returned from your mission, we could have a proper celebration?” Fay asks. “Some Feywine and some fine food and see what happens from there.”

Reunited in Pinit

December 6th, CR 571 or Deepnight 28th, 20,519 AP

A new days dawns in the Sylvan Realm and the troubles from the day before have faded away. Over in Einsun, Annelwin and her unicorn Rainbow wait for Laucian to approach. Annelwin puts her hand on the back of her unicorn and gestures to for Laucian to do the same. Rainbow nods at Laucian as his hand touches her back and then she blinks!

Einsun vanishes and the next thing that Laucian knows he is now in a different elfin town. A few moments later, two more unicorn appear with passengers. Valena is there with Arlen Brightsword who were blinked by River Blossom. Fayrianna appears with her unicorn Aeolus and Onas Brightsword.

The Sunflower is at the docks and many others are also present. Queen Lilia is here, along with her adviser Doriath, the former King of the Elfholds. Close to Lilia is Andlin Alastra, the co-leader of the Queen's Guard. Kylie is present with her mother, Speaker Allurien. Lia and Talen are near as is the transformed Myev who can't help but stand out from everyone else. The big blue elf seems utterly enchanted by all the unicorns! The fire mage, Gweyr is spotted as well.

The new arrivals mingle with those waiting for them as for some it has been many days since they last spoke. A flash is noted on the deck of the Sunflower. Appearing there is yet another elf known to some, but not to all. It is Silvarn, the silver dragon in disguise.

“Shall we begin?” The elf maiden calls out.

GM Notes:

Finally back together! Laucian met Silvarn before and is aware of her true nature.

Lilia:

Myev:

Myev wrote:“Oh, we'll work it out when the time comes,” Myev easily says with a wave. “Now that you mention it, I think I can cast Teleport as well. Our rather my elfin part could. I'll have to look in my spellbook. That parts kind of fuzzy to me.”
“Re-memorizing your full range of spells would be very wise,” Lilia suggests. “I wonder just how powerful of a spell caster you are?”
Myev wrote:“Yes, yes and yes,” Myev answers her eyes not looking away from the charts. “But I can't chart a course on this world without nautical maps for it. Otherwise, it's just guess work.”
“That is what Silvarn seemed to suggest,” Lilia agrees. “I will look into the acquisition of navigational charts.”
Myev wrote:“The God of War,” Myev repeats with emphasis. “Large reddish object that fills much of the sky? I can only see one moon up in your sky. Where are the rest?”
“We only have one moon,” Lilia states. “Are you saying that your world has more of them? And that one of them is large and red?”
Myev wrote:“Yes, yes, that's it!” Myev says pointing at Lilia. “Your sky is so barren and dull. You should do something about that.”
“Alas, such a thing is beyond the ability of us mere mortals,” Lilia intones in an amused voice.

At Pinit:
Goldenleaf wrote:“Welcome back, Your Majesty,” Clan Master Goldenleaf replies. “How can Clan Long Runner assist you?” The Clan Master listens to Lilia request and quickly understands what she is getting at. “I will oversee the matter personally.”
“Thank you Clan Master,” Lilia states with a bow.
Myev wrote:“Yeah, I guess they would be that,” Myev says with a laugh. “Cats, huh? What an odd name.”

“Much bigger versions of these little ones,” Myev tells Kylie. “We call them sabers. We ride them.”
“Ride them?!” Lilia repeats in mild shock. “You have cats as big as horses?”

Into the Elfin Palace:
Mclandrach wrote:The High Priests are unsure what to make of Myev with Mclandrach muttering, “The All-Father works in mysterious ways.”
“Indeed,” Lilia adds.
Mclandrach wrote:“I won't know for sure until I can control it,” Mclandrach tells Kylie. “I agree that being able to control it and limit what areas that it covers would be a boon to the Palace's defenses.”
“Do you have enough Priests of Corellon to consecrate the altar, High Priest?” Lilia will wonder. “I would love to help, but I am unsure when I will have the time to do so.”
Allurien wrote:“What is most peculiar about this pool is the water,” Speaker Allurien states. “It's ocean water, not fresh river water. How that is possible is beyond me.”
“Perhaps the cave continues down underground and emerges out in the ocean?” Lilia will suggest. “Although, I cannot see why our ancestors would do such a thing.”

“Oh, Speaker, I took the liberty of having Valena visiting each of the Clan Holds today,” Lilia continues. “She will bring you a report on their status tomorrow.”

Mclandrach wrote:“Not all elves may be pleased with that,” Mclandrach adds noncommittally. “Too many elves only see a drow, not a fallen and then redeemed daughter of the All-Father. They will make good neighbors.”
“Clearly if these Darksong Knights were here back when the Elfin Palace was occupied, then they keep their existence suppressed, Lilia states. “A policy I believe we should maintain. Only those who need to know about them should know.”
Myev wrote:“I think I've heard of Corellon before,” Myev blurts out, “but who is this Eilistraee? That one is a tongue twister!”
Seeing that Lia is already off in search of the shrine to her goddess, Lilia will field Myev's question. “Eilistraee is the daughter of Corellon. Do you have drow or dark elves on your world?”

After spending some time at the memorial, Lilia will then go and see the Temple of Corellon next so that she can pay her respects. From there she will check out the Royal Home to explore where she'll be calling home. After that, she'll return to Pinit to relax among her fellow elves before retiring to her room on the Sunflower. She'll rise before dawn to adjust her spell lists for what is to come.

When the first light appears in the sky, Lilia will slip into her armor and gear and go into Pinit. She spots Myev in town playing with the cats.

“You might find this interesting, Myev,” Lilia will call out. “We have guests coming soon.”

Sure enough not long after that, Laucian appears thanks to a Silver Maiden and her unicorn. A moment after that Valena appears with yet another Silver Maiden with the Brightsword brothers. Lilia steps forward to greet the new arrivals.

“Welcome friends,” Lilia calls out. “I am pleased that you all were able to make it. We will be departing shortly on our mission to destroy the HIVE.”

“We are ready,” Lilia calls out to Silvarn. “Everyone who is going on board the Sunflower. We will be covering much ground this day.”

Lia
“We found some caves near the bottom of the Southern Garden,” Allurien answers. “They seemed to be abandoned.”
“To one attuned to the light of day, it is possible. Perhaps we will have better luck.” She adds with a smile not meaning any disrespect.
Lia moves through the caves relatively quietly. Her eyes adjusting to the growing dark with each step. Excitedly she begins to step quicker and steps forward. She looks back with a wide grin on her face then a look of confusion and realization comes to her as she sees Talen and Kylie inspecting the area she just passed through. Looking about she looks in the area, did she trip a trap unknowingly?
“Talen? Kylie?” Lia s) ys, “Come on stop fooling around!”
After she realizes that they cannot follow, Lia will continue to investigate and look about the shrine.
( Will up date her further alter on in the week.}

Valena:

Valena has arrived in Einsun where they have a pest control problem.
Laucian wrote:“Your help is always welcome,” He says simply as he watches her dismount and join him in healing others and taking our spiders where needed. “You have become a messenger? I guess that makes sense with he distances the Silver maidens can cover.”
“Yes, for today,” Valena answers. “It makes sense to pass messages this way for now. Once the Clan Holds are up and running once more, I am sure that more traditional ways of communication will come into play.”
Laucian wrote:“Summoned? This is good news, the HIVE know to much of our ways, this needs to be remedied.” He says evenly. “I will report as soon as I am able.”
“I fear the palace is too far away for you to make it on your griffon,” Valena states. “I will have Annelwin take you there with her unicorn. I left my cooshee's behind as well. I could not live with myself if something horrible happened to them during this battle.”
Laucian wrote:“Blue? Has she had enough oxygen? He asks curiously. But he realizes this is touched by magic beyond his understanding anything is possible. “Does she like her new form? Or is she resentful?”
“She has an almost childlike giddiness to her now,” Valena reports. “I think she is very pleased with what she has become.”
Laucian wrote:“So if Talen is captured he may have to be saved or worse. So that his knowledge does not pass on to the HIVE.” He says to the silver maiden.
“Aye, if it comes to that,” Valena agrees. “I am sure that the queen will take that into consideration in the battles to come. As I understand it, he is our way in and out.”

After doing what she can around Einsun, Valena seeks out Annelwin.

“Well met, Annelwin,” Valena says. “I have a task for you. Laucian and I, along with the other Chosen, will be going away for several days on a mission to eradicate the HIVE. While I am away, you Fayrianna are in charge of the Silver Maidens. Continue on as you have been and if should some new crisis arise, do what you can to help. In addition, I would like you and Rainbow to transport Laucian to the Elfin Palace first thing tomorrow morning. Once my business is completed here, I will be traveling to Walltree for the last of the recruits the queen requested on this mission.”

Valena will also spend a few moments with the Grunalf Clan Master. “Clan Master, as part of my mission I have traveled to all the Clan Holds today and will report my findings to Speaker Allurien tomorrow. I've seen firsthand the troubles you have had with these spiders. Is there any more you wish to add?”

Next morning, Valena wakes in Walltree and will pray for a fresh round of spells. After a light breakfast, she locates the Brightsword Brothers and Fayrianna.

“It's time to go,” Valena will announce. “All you boys have to do is touch the unicorn. They'll do all the work.”

Arlen tentatively steps up to River Blossom while Onas moves towards Aeolus. Once ready, the unicorns blink and we reappear in Pinit. Valena waves to the others, but will seek out Speaker Allurien first.

“Speaker, I have gathered information about the state of the various Clan Holds as of yesterday,” Valena reports. “I am sure that you will find it of interest.”

Then Valena will talk to Annelwin and Fayrianna to see if they have any last moment questions. Not long after that, another elf appears on the deck of the Sunflower. Valena remembers this elf from the Siege of Corunglain. She traveled with Archmage Sharadin.

“We are ready,” Lilia calls out to Silvarn. “Everyone who is going on board the Sunflower. We will be covering much ground this day.”

Before leaving, Valena will spend a few moments with River Blossom. She will not be taking the unicorn into this battle.

“Be safe and watch over the woods,” Valena will softly say to River Blossom. “I will return in a few days.”

With that, Valena will go up the gangplank to the deck of the Sunflower. There she will take out her bow maintenance kit and start to work on her bow. No doubt this trip will take some time.

Kylie Lanthorn the Half-Elven:

They have returned to Shillesta and Talen is excitedly exploring his new abilities.
Talen wrote:“Which is why I need to explore up here and learn everything that I can about this city,” Talen adds. “Perhaps there are defenses in place that we are simply not aware of.”
"That makes sense," Kylie replies with a smile. "I hope you are right, as that will make things much easier."
Talen wrote:“What I meant,” Talen attempts to correct, “is that magic was used to force the smaller pillars to work in a haphazard fashion. It seemed to me that with a bigger pillar, more magic would be needed to force it work.”
Kylie shrugs. "Apparently I misunderstood once again. My apologies."

Returning to Mother Tree, they meet the newly-transformed Myev, who is much taller and much bluer than before. Myev asks about visiting Argent.
Lilia wrote:“Unfortunately, Argent was not at Karn's Keep when we were there yesterday,” Lilia adds. “You might have to track her down. More information can be gained when we travel there in a few days. Myev might as well come along with us.”
"Oh..." Kylie says, surprised. "We didn't see her while we were there, but I hadn't really expected to under the circumstances. I didn't realize that she wasn't there at all. I guess she must have already gone home to Crossroads. Do you know if she's feeling better, Lilia?"
Myev wrote:“Oh, we'll work it out when the time comes,” Myev easily says with a wave. “Now that you mention it, I think I can cast Teleport as well. Our rather my elfin part could. I'll have to look in my spellbook. That parts kind of fuzzy to me.”
"Really? Wow! Your skills have greatly improved, Myev!" Kylie exclaims. She pauses to think about it for a moment. "It sounds like Mother Tree blended you and the elven spirit you carried into one being. Do you have many of the elf's memories?"

She listens quietly as Myev and Gweyr get acquainted.

Eventually they take the Sunflower to Pinit once again. It seems that Myev has the talents of a navigator after all.
Lilia wrote:“Alas, such a thing is beyond the ability of us mere mortals,” Lilia intones in an amused voice.
Kylie just chuckles and shakes her head.
Myev wrote:“Much bigger versions of these little ones,” Myev tells Kylie. “We call them sabers. We ride them.”
Lilia wrote:“Ride them?!” Lilia repeats in mild shock. “You have cats as big as horses?”
"'Sabers', huh?" Kylie muses. Lilia is as surprised as Kylie regarding their size. "That is one big cat..." she says sardonically.
Allurien wrote:“Hello, Kylie,” Speaker Allurien says to her daughter. “I trust your trip was a pleasant one?”
Kylie snorts. "It was... interesting. Much more pleasant after we defeated those attacking the Sculley's home. At least we were able to secure some supporting forces for our attack on the Hive."
Myev wrote:“Aren't all elves at home in the trees?” Myev asks. “Moving like this is as easy to me as walking.”
Kylie raises one eyebrow. "To some extent, yes, though I have never seen any elf move through the trees the way you do, Myev."

After some introductions, they begin to look around Pinit palace at what the others found in their absence. Lia feels something that the others cannot sense and goes to investigate.
Lia wrote:“Danger? Far from it.” Lia says simply. “The Dark Maiden is a name associated with my patron. I feel the presence of Eilistraee. A temple maybe near.”
"Ahh," Kylie murmurs, visibly relaxing. "I saw you draw your sword and took that as a sign of danger. My mistake." Talen remarks that it is probably coming from the caves that were mentioned earlier, leading Kylie to nod in agreement.

Kylie floats along behind Lia as she moves in search of the source of the essence of Eilistraee she senses. Reaching and entering the caves, the dark elf moves through one wall. Assuming that it must be an illusion, Kylie continues to float forward only to be painfully notified of her mistake. "Ow!" she cries after impacting against the stone. She turns to look at Talen with a lop-sided grin on her face. "I guess it isn't an illusion after all."
Lia wrote:“Talen? Kylie?” Lia says, “Come on stop fooling around!”
Kylie hears Lia's voice, but sees only the stone wall before her. "Lia? I can hear you but I cannot see you. How did you go through the wall?"

Morning comes and Kylie rises to greet the day. She spends a little time relaxing and playing with Dapple, as she knows she has a big day ahead of her and may not see him for a few days. Since combat is likely to be the order of the day, she reviews her memorized spells and makes some changes to reflect that reality.

They are soon called to prepare for travel. Kylie collects up her things, says goodbye to Dapple, and meets the others on board the Sunflower. Unless Lilia has other ideas, she will take her usual position in the crow's nest and ready her Spell Engine.
Lilia wrote:“You might find this interesting, Myev,” Lilia will call out.

Kylie waves at Laucian and Valena from her position in the crow's nest, but doesn't try to call to them over the general hub-bub of the gathering.

When all are gathered aboard, Kylie guides the ship up out of the river and into the sky.

Onas Brightsword:

Valena arrives in Walltree after the battle is done. News is shared back and forth, with Onas telling of the battle just fought, and Valena giving an update on the other clans. She then shares Lilia's plans for the morrow, which includes Onas and his brother joining in an attack on the strange bug-creatures that had been encountered previously.
Valena wrote:“Very good,” Valena states. “Fayrianna and I will have to use our unicorns to blink you to Pinit so that you can meet up with the Queen. We'll leave at first light.”
Onas feels a moment of trepidation, which is hinted at by the shadow of worry in his eyes. "I have never traveled in such a manner. It should be an... interesting experience." A thought occurs to him. I was supposed to join my priesthood to assist in consecrating Angharradh's altar, but I suppose this takes precedence..."
Valena wrote:“Very blue,” Valena reports. “She's the color of a sea elf now.”
Apparently the 'scro' named Myev has emerged from Mother Tree's cocoon and is now blue. Onas is not entirely sure what to make of this news. "A sea elf. Huh. I don't believe I've ever met one before. I will look forward to it."
Valena wrote:“You are welcomed,” Valena says. “With the clans spread out, sharing information will become important.”
"Yeah, I can see that," Onas replies. Same is true in the Elfholds, which are much larger, though there are far fewer of us here."

Later that evening, Onas has a chance to chat with Fayrianna before heading off to bed.
Fayrianna wrote:“Aye that it has,” Fayrianna easily says. “It's been a while since I've been in a battle like this. It feels good to fight with our clan and to free our home. Alas, I will not be joining you on when you take the fight to these parasites. Someone must guard the Sylvan Realms while you are away after all.”
Onas nods gravely. "Both are important. There are other threats, and it wouldn't be much of a victory to defeat those bug-creatures only to return home to a catastrophe. It is good to know that you will be here to aid in the defense of the realm while so many of us are gone on this vital mission."
Fayrianna wrote:“Perhaps after you have returned from your mission, we could have a proper celebration?” Fay asks. “Some Feywine and some fine food and see what happens from there.”
It takes a few moments for the Silver Maiden's words to sink in, but when they do, Onas brightens visibly. "That -- That would be wonderful, Fayrianna. I will very much look forward to when I can return and see you again." He gives her shy smile. It occurs to him that he has very little experience of romance, though he is eager to learn. Onas wonders if he should say something else, but has no idea what that would be so he holds his tongue before he trips over it.

Before he goes to bed, Onas searches out his dropped lance and sees to Carad Orod's stabling. "Looks like I may not see you for a few days, my friend," he says. "Our friends here will take good care of you while I'm gone." Carad Orod whickers in reply. Locating a place to rest, Onas spends some time cleaning, repairing, and maintaining his gear before going to bed.

That night, Onas has very pleasant dreams and morning comes far too soon. As usual, he starts the day with devotions to the Triune Goddess. However, memories of the previous evening and thoughts of the coming day make it hard to concentrate, which results in it taking longer than usual. As a result, he scrambles through breakfast and packing his things.

Afterwards, he meets briefly with the Forest Riders who are present in Walltree, to clarify orders and priorities. He then approaches Clan Leader Angus. "Clan Leader, if it is okay with you, I would like to leave the Forest Riders in your hands until I return. It shouldn't be more than a few days, but one never knows..."

Before long, it is time to be leaving.
Valena wrote:“It's time to go,” Valena will announce. “All you boys have to do is touch the unicorn. They'll do all the work.”
Onas steps forward as instructed. Giving Fayrianna an anxious smile, he places his hand on Aeolus' mane. The world seems to twist... sideways?... and he finds himself in a very different location. Before him he can see a large palace of trees, so this can only be Pinit. He can see the flying ship -- named The Sunflower, if he recalls correctly -- along with Queen Lilia, Speaker Allurien, and many others. He recognizes a few faces in the crowd, but most are not familiar to him.

Turning, Onas gives Fayrianna a small bow. "Thank you, Fayrianna. That is an amazing way to travel. I hope to see you again soon."
Lilia wrote:“We are ready,” Lilia calls out to Silvarn. “Everyone who is going on board the Sunflower. We will be covering much ground this day.”
The queen declares it time to go, so Onas shoulders his pack and strides up the gangplank. This will be his first time riding on the flying ship and he is looking forward to it. Soon The Sunflower rises into the air and Onas marvels at how smooth the ship flies. Even as they gain speed, there is little sense of wind on deck. Looking up, he sees Kylie high above in the crow's nest and wonders what it feels like to pilot a ship such as this.

Laucian
A place to camp for the night is set up, along with a place for the wounded to rest and be healed. Four elves perished in the battle, having been crushed when the massive mother spider landed on them.
Laucian will move about the wounded as he does so he will burn his spells into healing spells to heal the worse of the bunch then use mundane wrappings for the remainder. In a separate area the bodies of the brave fallen are stored for the moment. He knees by each placing his right hand on their chests saying a silent pray on each’s behalf.
Rising up he looks them over. “Brave and True. They should be remembered for their sacrifice, their names never to be lost to the sands of time.”
The familiar owl wings its way back to Laucian.
“You have upheld your vow,” the owl intones. “You have my thanks and the thanks of my kin. We will contact you when we are ready to be friends. Until then be safe, children of the forest.” With those parting words, the owl flies off once more.
Laucian hears the flapping of wings as a familiar owl comes into view. “You honour us. We look forward to that day where our people may meet again. Safe Journey people of the Alaghi.”
As he gathers his gear and places it upon Aura a silver maiden comes running up.
“Hopefully you do not blink us into nest of spiders.” He says with grin referring to Valena. “I thank you for your way of travel. I will make the most of it.” He says unburdening Aura.
He will tell all of his companions to stay in Enisun in the care of Eldertree. He will pray to Ehlonna for spells and guidance in the coming days.
Laucian looks at the Silver maiden for a moment. “To touch a unicorn is not something one should do, without permission.” He says as rainbow tells him that it is okay to do as Annelwin instructed. “Be gentle, it is my first time.” He jokes as the Unicorn blinks them to Pinit.
Shaking his head clear he cant help but feel a little queasy. He looks about and sees many of the others back from their clan business. He sees Gweyr and for a moment he nods and smiles slightly in greeting.
He then boards the Sunflower as the others do.
Til Ehlonna's will be done

Lia
Kylie hears Lia's voice, but sees only the stone wall before her. "Lia? I can hear you but I cannot see you. How did you go through the wall?"
“There is no wall.” After a time, Lia walks away from the stone wall where Talen and
Kylie are.
The passage slants down from where Lia is now to a large common use cave. There are side passages from this area that were used for living quarters. Another tunnel leads up and out of this area back to the surface. This new outside area is completely surrounded by growth and can't be accessed from the outside. This is where the altar is at and where outside services are held.
Lia looks to the side passages and finds them to be once of living quarters. While another rises up and the smell of fresh air becomes more apparent. Growth is everywhere and no one can come in our out of this pasture of solitude. She the alter and takes a knees praying to her patron.
Soon after she finds several areas of interest. One area is secured to her while another is a small armory. Many Drow made weapons and armor lay upon their racks. She runs her fingers over the top, feeling her heritage. A smile comes to her face as she feels a presence, a feeling as she draws closer, she can see an elaborate set of Elfin Chainmail etched with runes and markings of Eilistraee along with a ring that bares Eilistraee’s markings and insignia.
Taking the time, she places the ring upon her finger a smile etches upon her lips as she sees the glint of metal upon her finger. Then, she will remove her elfin chain and replace it with the armor of Eilistraee.
She says a silent prayer to her patron for the gifts of her armor and rings and will do well to use them.
Once done, Lia returns to Talen and Kylie. She makes no mention of the drow weapons or armory. “ It would seem there is powerful magic within this section. There is a temple to Eilistraee not far from the protecting Wall.”
The last thing you shall hear is the bladesong of my sword.

The Mother Tree

December 4th, CR 571 or Deepnight 26th, 20,519 AP

The elves have met the new Myev after her emergence from the cocoon...
Lilia wrote:“Re-memorizing your full range of spells would be very wise,” Lilia suggests. “I wonder just how powerful of a spell caster you are?”
“I-- I really cannot say for sure,” Myev answers after a moment's thought. “Most of that comes from her. I'll know more after I look at her... our spell books. I was an amateur compared to her.”
Kylie wrote:"Really? Wow! Your skills have greatly improved, Myev!" Kylie exclaims. She pauses to think about it for a moment. "It sounds like Mother Tree blended you and the elven spirit you carried into one being. Do you have many of the elf's memories?"
“Some yes,” Myev admits. “But they are deeper and only come to the surface when I see something that reminds me of them. Like seeing the Mother Tree and the elfin forest. That triggered memories that I knew were not mine. We still don't have things sorted out yet. I'm a mess!”
Lilia wrote:“We only have one moon,” Lilia states. “Are you saying that your world has more of them? And that one of them is large and red?”
“Yes,” Myev confirms. “The God of War casts his dark red eye on all of Dreatar.”

The Elfin Palace:

December 5th, CR 571 or Deepnight 27th, 20,519 AP

Next morning, the Sunflower is flown to Pinit, the elfin town across the river from the Elfin Palace. Meeting the new Myev continues as she speaks of the cats of her world. There they are known as sabers and those elves ride them!
Lilia wrote:“Ride them?!” Lilia repeats in mild shock. “You have cats as big as horses?”
Kylie wrote:"'Sabers', huh?" Kylie muses. Lilia is as surprised as Kylie regarding their size. "That is one big cat..." she says sardonically.
“Why yes,” Myev answers innocently. “They are bred as hunting mounts. What's a horse?”

“Oh, and I was right,” Myev says changing the subject. “I can cast Teleport and it is my most potent spell. I think I have other skills, but I'm still feeling all of this out.”

Those who remained behind at the Elfin Palace and continued the exploration soon come forth. Kylie is reunited with her mother, Speaker Allurien.
Kylie wrote:Kylie snorts. "It was...interesting. Much more pleasant after we defeated those attacking the Sculley's home. At least we were able to secure some supporting forces for our attack on the Hive."
“Who attacked Karn's Keep?” Allurien has to wonder. “Was it part of that civil war they mentioned?”

The group then moves back into the Elfin Palace to take a look around.
Lilia wrote:“Do you have enough Priests of Corellon to consecrate the altar, High Priest?” Lilia will wonder. “I would love to help, but I am unsure when I will have the time to do so.”
“We will manage, Your Majesty,” Mclandrach reports. “You have important work you must do in the All-Father's name. I would not hold you back from such a task.”

The grotto is visited on the ground of the island the Elfin Palace sits on. Speaker Allurien reveals that the water in the grotto is salt water, not fresh water.
Lilia wrote:“Perhaps the cave continues down underground and emerges out in the ocean?” Lilia will suggest. “Although, I cannot see why our ancestors would do such a thing.”
“We've seen numerous areas for guests to stay and rest within the palace,” Speaker Allurien states. “I can only think of one guest of the elves that would need an arrangement such as this. Sea elves. If ten thousand years ago this was the seat of elfin power on Arret, then perhaps the aquatic elves sent ambassadors here. In that instance a grotto such as this would be necessary.”
Lilia wrote:“Oh, Speaker, I took the liberty of having Valena visiting each of the Clan Holds today,” Lilia continues. “She will bring you a report on their status tomorrow.”
“Thank you,” Speaker Allurien says in mild surprise. “That was very unexpected, but ultimately necessary. I have been making plans to check up on the Clan Holds when able. This will help me prioritize my visits.

While at the clan memorial, Lia senses the power of her patron nearby. Caves are noted to the south and talk about this being the base for the Darksong Knights come up. This organization was good drow dedicated to protect the Sylvan Realm for threats from below.
Lilia wrote:“Clearly if these Darksong Knights were here back when the Elfin Palace was occupied, then they keep their existence suppressed, Lilia states. “A policy I believe we should maintain. Only those who need to know about them should know.”
The High Priests and Speaker Allurien will agree with that line of thought.

“If those caves are a place of Eilistraee worship,” Speaker Allurien adds, “then perhaps they are also the home to dark elf ambassadors as well. If we can believe that sea elves had a presence here, why not the good dark elves as well?
Lilia wrote:Seeing that Lia is already off in search of the shrine to her goddess, Lilia will field Myev's question. “Eilistraee is the daughter of Corellon. Do you have drow or dark elves on your world?”
“Drow?” Myev questions as she toys with the word, seemingly not being one she has heard before. “Not that I am aware of. I've never seen another elf like Lia. I simply thought she was an elf of dark skin.”

Not far away, Lia moves to explore the caves underneath the southern of the two gardens. The grotto was at the base of the northern garden while the caves to the south. A solid cave wall prevents Kylie and Talen from following Lia deeper into the caves. Only the faithful of Eilistraee can go any further!

The passage Lia is in ends at a large underground common area. A handful of passages lead way from this central area. Most of these lead to living quarters. There are two secured doors off the central area. One is locked and will not open for Lia.

The other one will open. This area is an armory that holds various drow crafted equipment. Lia can feel the peculiar energy used to make these items. It is said that such items cannot survive in the light of day. However not all the gear here is made for the Underdark. Suits of enchanted elfin chain mail are present and Lia can feel the power of Eilistraee within them. A small box holds magical rings also imbued with the power of the Dark Maiden. Lastly, there are tabards present signifying the mysterious organization known as the Darksong Knights.

A second tunnel leads back to the surface from the common area. The tunnel emerges in a large, but contained area outside. The central feature of this area is an altar dedicated to Eilistraee and a large area around it.

Einsun

December 5th, CR 571 or Deepnight 27th, 20,519 AP

Over in Einsun, the Grunalf Clan Hold, the battle against the spiders has ended. The remaining Alaghi have been freed and a familiar owl returns.
Luacian wrote:Laucian hears the flapping of wings as a familiar owl comes into view. “You honor us. We look forward to that day where our people may meet again. Safe Journey people of the Alaghi.”
The owl nods in response and takes flight once more.

After doing what she can around Einsun, Valena seeks out Annelwin.
Valena wrote:“Well met, Annelwin,” Valena says.
“Of course, High Commander,” Annelwin answers. “I will help out as I can. We will speak again tomorrow in Pinit.”
Valena wrote:Valena will also spend a few moments with the Grunalf Clan Master. “Clan Master, as part of my mission I have traveled to all the Clan Holds today and will report my findings to Speaker Allurien tomorrow. I've seen firsthand the troubles you have had with these spiders. Is there any more you wish to add?”
“The spiders were the worst of it,” Clan Master Triestar will report. “The rest of the Clan are at Telsun, a small village on the way to Einsun. Otherwise, Clan Grunalf is well and starting to settle in.”

Elsewhere, Commander Annelwin of the Silver Maidens alerts Laucian that he need not fly to Pinit on Aura.
Laucian wrote:“Hopefully you do not blink us into nest of spiders.” He says with grin referring to Valena. “I thank you for your way of travel. I will make the most of it.” He says unburdening Aura.
“As long as Pinit is free of spiders, than we have nothing to worry about,” Annelwin will note.

Laucian spends the evening in Einsun with his clan and cooshee companions. The elfin dogs will stay with the clan while Laucian is away. Aura will stay behind as well. The cat, onyx, is back with Elder Treelife back in Telsun.

Walltree:

December 5th, CR 571 or Deepnight 27th, 20,519 AP

Night has fallen in Walltree, the Red Arrow Clan Hold. The humans have been defeated and preparations for the night has begun. Valena arrives and alerts Onas and his brother Arlen that the queen requires their presence in the morning. The group will make the trip to Pinit by way of the unicorns.
Onas wrote:Onas feels a moment of trepidation, which is hinted at by the shadow of worry in his eyes. "I have never traveled in such a manner. It should be an... interesting experience."
“You'll be fine,” Fay tries to reassure Onas. “Like most things, it just takes getting used to. As long as Aeolus likes you, it'll be fine. Pray he likes you!”
Onas wrote:Onas nods gravely. "Both are important. There are other threats, and it wouldn't be much of a victory to defeat those bug-creatures only to return home to a catastrophe. It is good to know that you will be here to aid in the defense of the realm while so many of us are gone on this vital mission."
“The Sylvan Realm will still be here when you return,” Fay vows. “Just make sure you return.”

“We then,” Fay adds with a laugh. “That'll give you something to fight for!”
Onas wrote:Afterwards, he meets briefly with the Forest Riders who are present in Walltree, to clarify orders and priorities. He then approaches Clan Leader Angus. "Clan Leader, if it is okay with you, I would like to leave the Forest Riders in your hands until I return. It shouldn't be more than a few days, but one never knows..."
“That shouldn't be a problem,” Clan Master Argus suspects. “Most of the riders are out protecting the other clans. I see no reason to change their assignment at this time.”

Reunited in Pinit

December 6th, CR 571 or Deepnight 28th, 20,519 AP

Next morning, Laucian, Onas and Arlen Brightsword are whisked away to Pinit via unicorns paired with Valena, Fayrianna and Annelwin. There is a small meeting and greeting before the Sunflower departs.
Valena wrote:Valena approaches Speaker Allurien. “Speaker, I have gathered information about the state of the various Clan Holds as of yesterday,” Valena reports. “I am sure that you will find it of interest.”
“Thank you, Valena,” Speaker Allurien says gratefully. “I am sure that this will be very useful to me.”

Turning to her daughter, Allurien adds. “Be safe.”
Onas wrote:Turning, Onas gives Fayrianna a small bow. "Thank you, Fayrianna. That is an amazing way to travel. I hope to see you again soon."
“It is a blessing granted to me by the unicorns,” Fayrianna admits. “You will see me after you have defeated the enemy and return to the Sylvan Realms.”
Laucian wrote:Shaking his head clear he can't help but feel a little queasy. He looks about and sees many of the others back from their clan business. He sees Gweyr and for a moment he nods and smiles slightly in greeting. He then boards the Sunflower as the others do.
Gweyr notes Laucian appearance with a smile. She watches as he comes up the gangplank.

“The queen has been allowing me to control the ship,” the petite fire mage reveals. “I'm going with you this time. I've got plenty of fire to burn those bugs with!”

Myev cheerfully greets all the new arrivals with a cheerful, “Hi!”

Silvarn notices Myev's presence and does a double take. “A telf? Here?” Silvarn says aloud. “How did this happen?”

Andlin Alastra greets the new arrivals as well and will exchange words with Arlen Brightsword.

“Welcome back,” Andlin will say as he and Arlen grasp hands. “I believe that I've located a place to use as our base of operations for the Queen's Guard.”

“That is good,” Arlen agrees. “Near the queen, I hope?”

“Very near,” Andlin answers. “I believe it has everything that we will need. It is one of the areas here in the Royal Palace.”

“Sounds promising,” Arlen answers. “I look forward to seeing it once this mission has been completed.”

Silvarn appears on the deck of the Sunflower and Lilia calls out for everyone to get on board. Final goodbyes are said to those staying behind as the passengers board the ship. The gangplank is pulled up. At Kylie's direction, the Sunflower moves out into the river and starts to rise up out of the water.

“Hello, Laucian,” Silvarn will say as she passes by. “Good to see that you are well.”

The Sunflower rises above the trees. At Silvarn's direction she has Gweyr, who is controlling the forward motion of the Sunflower, to adjust to the proper heading while Kylie continues to have the ship rise up. Myev tries to figure out the proper direction, but is lost without charts to follow.

“How can she know the right direction?” Myev wonders aloud. “She's not using any maps!”

“I don't need maps,” Silvarn answers with a smile as she reaches the front bow of the Sunflower. “I fly by instinct.”

Silvarn reaches out and puts her hands on the railing and starts to change strange words once the ship is high enough. In response the Sunflower undergoes a sudden burst of speed. The terrain about the ship suddenly changes and all color is drained away leaving only shades of gray.

The experience, while new to many, is familiar to Laucian. Something similar happened when Silvarn carried him, Grondar and Validar way from Ember's fortress many weeks ago.

Unlike the trip from the Elder Ruins back to the Mother Tree, this voyage takes longer than five seconds. Which makes sense as the distance is much further. After all, it took over a week to reach the Sylvan Realm via the raft when the Chosen first made the trip. This current voyage takes three minutes!

Just as quickly as it left, the color in the world returns and now the Sunflower is high in the sky over a range of mountains. The Sylvan Realm has been left far behind and now the Sunflower is somewhere between the border between Rockhome and the Frontier Lands.

“Whoa!”, Arlen manages to utter.

“You get used to it,” Andlin answers nonchalantly. “Eventually.”

“Our destination is down there,” Silvarn points to alert Gweyr and Kylie. “You girls can handle the rest of the trip.”

The small lake beside Karn's Keep comes into view and the pair work to land the Sunflower near the dock. Once the ship is down, the gangplank is lowered once more. The Sunflower has reached Karn's Keep!

A pair of familiar figures come forth to greet the Sunflower. It is Sherry and Terry Sculley, Lia and Talen's cousins. Unlike previous visits, the twins are not wearing fine dresses. Instead they are dressed like adventurers.

“Welcome to Karn's Keep,” one of the twins calls out as they approach.

“You are the last to arrive,” the other twin announces.

“Father is awaiting you in the meeting room.”

“Everyone else going on this expedition is also there.”

“There will be an organizational meeting laying out our strategy,” a twin says.

“Then the fun will begin,” the other twin finishes.

“Follow us, please.”

GM notes:

I decided to end the post at this point, as the introductions to the others going along on this mission will be lengthy and this post was already long as it was. Let's try to wrap up the older business in this post. Just who, or what, have Silvarn and Lord Sharadin recruited to go on this mission?

Now what?
Try it and find out!

Lilia:
Kylie wrote:"Oh..." Kylie says, surprised. "We didn't see her while we were there, but I hadn't really expected to under the circumstances. I didn't realize that she wasn't there at all. I guess she must have already gone home to Crossroads. Do you know if she's feeling better, Lilia?"
“No, I haven't seen Argent since you took her to Karn's Keep,” Lilia answers. “From what you told me, Lady Sallavarian promised to take her home. I simply assumed that she had done so since we didn't not see, or even hear about Argent during our last visit.”
Myev wrote:“Yes,” Myev confirms. “The God of War casts his dark red eye on all of Dreatar.”
For some reason, Lilia takes little comfort in that.
Myev wrote:“Why yes,” Myev answers innocently. “They are bred as hunting mounts. What's a horse?”
“Four legged animals that humans and elves use as mounts,” Lilia explains.
Myev wrote:“Oh, and I was right,” Myev says changing the subject. “I can cast Teleport and it is my most potent spell. I think I have other skills, but I'm still feeling all of this out.”
“That is good to know,” Lilia agrees. “Perhaps in time these other abilities with manifest themselves.”
Allurien wrote:“We've seen numerous areas for guests to stay and rest within the palace,” Speaker Allurien states. “I can only think of one guest of the elves that would need an arrangement such as this. Sea elves. If ten thousand years ago this was the seat of elfin power on Arret, then perhaps the aquatic elves sent ambassadors here. In that instance a grotto such as this would be necessary.”
“An interesting theory, Speaker,” Lilia agrees as she eyes the pool.
Allurien wrote:“Thank you,” Speaker Allurien says in mild surprise. “That was very unexpected, but ultimately necessary. I have been making plans to check up on the Clan Holds when able. This will help me prioritize my visits.”
“I asked Valena to gather some recruits for the mission against the HIVE and it just made sense to check on all the other clans in the process,” Lilia explains. “Those unicorns can cover a great deal of ground!”
Allurien wrote:“If those caves are a place of Eilistraee worship,” Speaker Allurien adds, “then perhaps they are also the home to dark elf ambassadors as well. If we can believe that sea elves had a presence here, why not the good dark elves as well?”
“Perhaps,” Lilia adds noncommittally, but really doubts there being drow ambassadors.
Myev wrote:“Drow?” Myev questions as she toys with the word, seemingly not being one she has heard before. “Not that I am aware of. I've never seen another elf like Lia. I simply thought she was an elf of dark skin.”
“I see,” Lilia muses. “It's a long tale, but speaking generally, elves like Lia hate elves like me. Lia is a special case.”

As Lilia boards the Sunflower, Silvarn makes an odd comment.
Silvarn wrote:Silvarn notices Myev's presence and does a double take. “A telf? Here?” Silvarn says aloud. “How did this happen?”
“Myev here is the one who brought the Sunflower to this world,” Lilia explains. “What is a telf?”

Lilia greets Laucian as he comes on board. “Did Clan Grunalf make it safety to Einsun?” she asks.

Lilia will also greet Arlen and Onas Brightsword when they arrive. “Thank you for coming,” Lilia says. “I wanted to add some more skilled combatants for what is to come and you fit the bill.”

The combination of Kylie and Gweyr maneuver the Sunflower from the dock to up in the sky. There Silvarn takes over once more and using her dragonic magic, the entire trip takes three minutes!

Karn's Keep is spotted below, but the Lady Iris does not seem to be here any more. Kylie and Gweyr pilot the Sunflower on to the lake and then up to the dock. The gangplank is extended and the twins are there to greet us. However, they are not wearing dresses, but rather the clothing of adventurers.
“Welcome to Karn's Keep,” one of the twins calls out as they approach.
“Thank you,” Lilia calls out.
“You are the last to arrive,” the other twin announces.

“Father is awaiting you in the meeting room.”

“Everyone else going on this expedition is also there.”
“We are prepared,” Lilia says as she walks along with the twins.
“There will be an organizational meeting laying out our strategy,” a twin says.

“Then the fun will begin,” the other twin finishes.

“Follow us, please.”
Turning back to those on the Sunflower, Lilia calls out. “These are the daughters of Lord Sharadin, the Archmage of Cynalon and our allies in this mission. Come along, we shall be meeting our other allies shortly.”
Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!

Talen:

Talen is content to simply follow along with the others as we move deeper into the palace. There are things that are of great interest to the elves, but to Talen not so much. Suddenly Lia runs off and after a beat Talen follows after her and Kylie.
Kylie wrote:"Ahh," Kylie murmurs, visibly relaxing. "I saw you draw your sword and took that as a sign of danger. My mistake." Talen remarks that it is probably coming from the caves that were mentioned earlier, leading Kylie to nod in agreement.
“Her first instinct is always to attack a problem,” Talen notes in regard to his sister. “Whether it needs attacking or not.”

Lia goes into a cave and Kylie follows. When Talen catches up, Lia is gone and Kylie is looking for a way through a solid wall.
Kylie wrote:Kylie floats along behind Lia as she moves in search of the source of the essence of Eilistraee she senses.
“I guess not,” Talen agrees.
Lia wrote:“Talen? Kylie?” Lia says, “Come on stop fooling around!”
“We're not fooling around,” Talen calls out. “You're gone where we cannot go.”

Kylie hears Lia's voice, but sees only the stone wall before her. "Lia? I can hear you but I cannot see you. How did you go through the wall?"
Lia wrote:“There is no wall.” After a time, Lia walks away from the stone wall where Talen and Kylie are.
“There is most definitely a wall here,” Talen reports. “Apparently what lies beyond is meant for only you. Be careful in there, as no one can get to you if you get into trouble.”
Lia wrote:Once done, Lia returns to Talen and Kylie. She makes no mention of the drow weapons or armory. “ It would seem there is powerful magic within this section. There is a temple to Eilistraee not far from the protecting Wall.”
“I guessed that much,” Talen admits in regards to their being a temple of Eilistraee over there. “Heck of a keep out sign you have here.”

Next morning, Talen is up and ready to go. Today promises to be eventful as we go to engage the HIVE! Talen hangs out on deck as the others start to arrive. Then Silvarn shows up and the trip is ready to begin. A few minutes later we are above Karn's Keep!

“That was fast!” Talen notes very impressed.

Soon the Sunflower is docked once more and we are greeted by Sherry and Terry.

“Hey girls,” Talen says as they exchange hugs.

Talen follows along as we head into the keep and wonders just who is waiting for them inside.

Lia
Kylie hears Lia's voice, but sees only the stone wall before her. "Lia? I can hear you but I cannot see you. How did you go through the wall?"
“ There was no wall Talen! I just walked through an area turned around and saw you had been walled off!”
“There is most definitely a wall here,” Talen reports. “Apparently what lies beyond is meant for only you. Be careful in there, as no one can get to you if you get into trouble.”
“Perhaps it is Eilistraee temple.. Only the true believers may lay eyes upon it?” she asks more so to herself then her cut off companions. “ I’ll be careful. I will see whats about then come back. Do not worry.”
In her searches she finds many any interesting things from Drow made weapons, to items of Eilistraee’s faith and most importantly the alter itself. As she does search she does find a tabard she has not seen before. Taking a ring of her patron she slips it on her finger and takes the armor Eilistraee and places it in her pack for the time being she also takes the Tabard and places it in her pack.
Saying a prayer to Eilistraee at the alter she then finds her brother and Kylie.
Seeing the two have waited for her. “ I just prayed at the temple for our safe journey and return.” She says simply knowing that it doesn’t fully cover everything. There are somethings she needs to keep to herself for the moment and some she needs to find counsel with the Queen and Speaker.
------
Lia Approaches the sunflower her cowl pulled up over her face. She has prayed to her patron for her her guidance and spells.
Many of the others are gathered and the Queen calls for everyone to board. Lia follows suit.
She will find Allurien and Lilia. “ May I have a moment in private?”
“ Yesterday when I had that funny feeling, I went to go look. I found Eilistraee’s altar hidden from non believers. There is an armory of drow made weapons and I found something more. She slowly takes the tabard of the Darksong knights and shows the Queen and Speaker. “They were not myths. They were your guards to the underneath and underdark.”
Lia will lower the gangplank for the others, as the twins come forward
======

“You are the last to arrive,” the other twin announces.

“Father is awaiting you in the meeting room.”

“Everyone else going on this expedition is also there.”
“We are prepared,” Lilia says as she walks along with the twins.
Lia says hi to the twins in return ans follows them to the meeting

Laucian
Laucian spends the evening in Einsun with his clan and cooshee companions. The elfin dogs will stay with the clan while Laucian is away. Aura will stay behind as well. The cat, onyx, is back with Elder Treelife back in Telsun.
In the morning, Laucian says goodbye to his companions and his fellow kinsmen. Saying goodbye to each of his companions he will say, “ I will be back for you my friends. Be safe and guard Eldertree, he will take care of you in turn.”
Moments later, Laucian is taken to Pinit.
(Laucian will find whatever Griffon rider who is about and ask them to patrol the skies as normal in their absence.)
Gweyr notes Laucian appearance with a smile. She watches as he comes up the gangplank.
“The queen has been allowing me to control the ship,” the petite fire mage reveals. “I'm going with you this time. I've got plenty of fire to burn those bugs with!”
A smile etches across his face, “ Then we are in the finest of hands. “Just mind your head, their drones like to attach and take over your body. I would not wish to see that happen to you.”
Myev cheerfully greets all the new arrivals with a cheerful, “Hi!”
A blue elf soon says hi and Laucian looks at her quizzically. “ Meyv? You look well.” He says evenly not totally sure what to say to the scro turned elf.
The Queen approaches-
Lilia greets Laucian as he comes on board. “Did Clan Grunalf make it safety to Einsun?” she asks.
“When we left the spiders that dwelled there had been eradicated. Our people were within Telsun until Enisun was clear. Clan Grundalf is now settling in to our ancestral home and mourning the 4 elves that gave their lives for the clan.”
“ It was no easy feat. Our arrows could not penetrate it’s armor, thankfully our mages were with us. They turned the tide of battle.”
“Hello, Laucian,” Silvarn will say as she passes by. “Good to see that you are well.”
Laucian notes the appearance of Silvarn and approaches the Elf maiden, greeting her properly. “It is good to meet your acquaintance once again. Are you joining us in this endeavour?” he asks curiously and politely.
The experience, while new to many, is familiar to Laucian. Something similar happened when Silvarn carried him, Grondar and Validar way from Ember's fortress many weeks ago.
A smile comes to his face as he recalls his first experience with Silvarn’s magic. Once again the familiar feeling is felt all about them as the Sunflower is thrust into the air. The majesty of dragons, he thinks to himself.
Laucian follows the twins to the meeting.

Onas Brightsword:

Onas chats with Fayrianna while relaxing after a strenuous day retaking their clan home.
Fayrianna wrote:“You'll be fine,” Fay tries to reassure Onas. “Like most things, it just takes getting used to. As long as Aeolus likes you, it'll be fine. Pray he likes you!”
"From your lips to Angharradh's ear," Onas replies, with just a hint of a smirk.
Fayrianna wrote:“The Sylvan Realm will still be here when you return,” Fay vows. “Just make sure you return.”
Onas nods. "If Angharradh wills it, so shall it be. And it will be, if I have anything to say about it."
Fayrianna wrote:“We then,” Fay adds with a laugh. “That'll give you something to fight for!”
"Indeed it will," Onas says with a slightly nervous laugh. "Indeed it will."

In the morning, Onas chats briefly with Clan Master Argus.
Argus wrote:“That shouldn't be a problem,” Clan Master Argus suspects. “Most of the riders are out protecting the other clans. I see no reason to change their assignment at this time.”
"Thank you, Clan Master," Onas states gratefully, giving Argus a quick salute before heading off to meet Fayrianna, Valena, and Arlen for the trip to Pinit.

Despite the new -- in Onas' experience -- and disorienting method of travel, they arrive safely in Pinit.
Fayrianna wrote:“It is a blessing granted to me by the unicorns,” Fayrianna admits. “You will see me after you have defeated the enemy and return to the Sylvan Realms.”
"I am looking forward to it," Onas replies to Fayrianna. He pauses a moment to burn the image of her face into his memory before shifting his gaze to her unicorn companion. "They are marvelous beings, in many ways."

Shortly afterward, Queen Lilia summons them to board the Sunflower. Onas is near the back of the group as they board. He seeks out a convenient place to sit, as he anticipates a long trip; as he understands it, they will be flying all the way back to Cynalon.

Setting in, he watches the others go about their business. Soon, the ship rises into the sky and wheels in an arc as it adjusts to the right heading based on the instructions of a silver-haired elven woman he hasn't seen before. Once the woman is satisfied with their heading, she moves to the bow of the ship, places her hands on both railings, and begins chanting some kind of incantation. Immediately, the ship accelerates to an incredible speed! Even though there is no particular wind generated onboard due to their velocity, the world seems to flash by. This woman must be a mage of incredible skill and power! He has never even heard of magic like this.
Arlen wrote:“Whoa!”, Arlen manages to utter.
Arlen's reaction is much the same as his own. "You said it, brother." Andlin claims that you get used to this experience, but Onas has his doubts. It is all he can do to not cling desperately to the nearest sturdy object as they hurtle forward at break-neck speed.

No more than a few minutes later, the silver-haired sorceress relaxes and steps back. She points to their destination and instructs Kylie and Gweyr to land the ship. Onas blows out the breath he's been holding and does his best to relieve the tension in his shoulders and back. Rising, he moves to the gunwale and looks down to see a castle on the edge of a small lake. As they get closer, he can make out two young women standing on a dock which the ship is quickly approaching.

The Sunflower is skillfully docked and Onas grabs his things to debark. Now that they are closer, Onas can tell that they must be twins. They call out a greeting to everyone and invite the visitors inside, noting that they are the last to arrive. The Queen announces that they are daughters of Cynalon's archmage. He is more than willing to follow them inside and see what battle plans have been devised.

Valena:

Valena and guests arrive in Pinit. The Sunflower is waiting for us to board here. Many other elves are here, including Myev. Valena speaks to Speaker Allurien before departing so that she can share her intelligence.
Speaker Allurien wrote:“Thank you, Valena,” Speaker Allurien says gratefully. “I am sure that this will be very useful to me.”
“A pleasure to help, Speaker,” Valena says with a bow.

Silvarn appears on the deck of the Sunflower and everyone starts to get on board.

“That is Silvarn,” Valena says to Arlen and Onas Brightsword. “I've crossed paths with her before. She's a powerful associate of Lord Sharadin, the Archmage of Cynalon. I wonder why she is here?”

Valena goes on board and settles in for a long trip. She start to work on her daily bow maintenance to pass the time. Words from Silvarn in regards to Myev draw her attention.
Silvarn wrote:Silvarn notices Myev's presence and does a double take. “A telf? Here?” Silvarn says aloud. “How did this happen?”
Lilia wrote:“Myev here is the one who brought the Sunflower to this world,” Lilia explains. “What is a telf?”
Lilia asks what Valena was thinking and is content to let Silvarn answer.

The trip to Karn's Keep takes nowhere near as long as Valena thought it would and it becomes clear just why Silvarn was present. She quickly packs away her tools as the Sunflower is brought down to the lake beside the keep.

“This is where our journey to the Sylvan Realm began,” Valena will explain to those unfamiliar with this place. “Lord Sharadin let us use a magic item called the Crown of the Stars to fly a barge through the air. That was how we eventually reached the Sylvan Realm.”

Once the ship is docked, Valena follows the others onto the dock and then towards the keep. She'll great Ladies Sherry and Terry as she passes them.

“I did not expect to ever return to this place,” Valena notes. “So far from a forest.”

Kylie Lanthorn the Half-Elven:

At the Mother Tree:
Myev wrote:“Some yes,” Myev admits. “But they are deeper and only come to the surface when I see something that reminds me of them. Like seeing the Mother Tree and the elfin forest. That triggered memories that I knew were not mine. We still don't have things sorted out yet. I'm a mess!”
Kylie smiles affectionately at her friend. "That must be quite an experience, having two sets of memories. I'm sure you'll get a better handle on it over time."
Lilia wrote:“No, I haven't seen Argent since you took her to Karn's Keep,” Lilia answers. “From what you told me, Lady Sallavarian promised to take her home. I simply assumed that she had done so since we didn't not see, or even hear about Argent during our last visit.”
"I suppose that makes as much sense as anything," Kylie says with a shrug.

In Pinit:
Myev wrote:“Oh, and I was right,” Myev says changing the subject. “I can cast Teleport and it is my most potent spell. I think I have other skills, but I'm still feeling all of this out.”
"That's wonderful, Myev. Then we are at about the same level of skill as spell-casters," Kylie remarks, pleased to have found that she has yet more in common with her friend.
“Who attacked Karn's Keep?” Allurien has to wonder. “Was it part of that civil war they mentioned?”
Kylie thinks back to what they were told after the battle. "Yes, it was part of that. The attackers were agents of a Duke Kelvin who instigated the war. He is apparently in league with an Alphatian named Lady Dahlia Mingor."

In the Elven Palace:
Talen wrote:“Her first instinct is always to attack a problem,” Talen notes in regard to his sister. “Whether it needs attacking or not.”
Kylie chuckles in response to Talen's comment. "In our line of work, that's not necessarily a bad approach."
Talen wrote:“We're not fooling around,” Talen calls out. “You're gone where we cannot go.”
Kylie looks at Talen and shrugs. "I guess we wait."
Talen wrote:“There is most definitely a wall here,” Talen reports. “Apparently what lies beyond is meant for only you. Be careful in there, as no one can get to you if you get into trouble.”
"All I know is it hurt when I flew into it." Kylie rubs her forehead again, which is still tender to the touch.
Lia wrote:Once done, Lia returns to Talen and Kylie. She makes no mention of the drow weapons or armory. “ It would seem there is powerful magic within this section. There is a temple to Eilistraee not far from the protecting Wall.”
Eventually Lia emerges from the area blocked to Talen and Kylie. "I guess that is not so surprising, considering what we've learned about the Darksong Knights," Kylie replies. "Perhaps what seemed like a wall to us is just some kind of powerful illusion that provides a rocky barrier to those not allowed within."
Lia wrote:Seeing the two have waited for her. “ I just prayed at the temple for our safe journey and return.” She says simply knowing that it doesn’t fully cover everything. There are somethings she needs to keep to herself for the moment and some she needs to find counsel with the Queen and Speaker.
"Good. Having a goddess' favor where we're going soon can only be for the better."

The next morning:
Silvarn wrote:Silvarn notices Myev's presence and does a double take. “A telf? Here?” Silvarn says aloud. “How did this happen?”
Kylie looks quizzically at Lilia. "A what?"
Lilia wrote:“Myev here is the one who brought the Sunflower to this world,” Lilia explains. “What is a telf?”
Kylie turns back to Silvarn and just nods. She's very curious to hear the silver dragon's answer.

They are soon in the air, with Kylie and Gweyr flying the ship. Once they are turned to the right course, Silvarn invokes her magic once again. The ship surges forward at incredible speed. Though it is not her first time experiencing this, Kylie still finds it exhilarating. The Sunflower streaks through the sky for several minutes, then finally slows back to a more normal velocity.
Silvarn wrote:“Our destination is down there,” Silvarn points to alert Gweyr and Kylie. “You girls can handle the rest of the trip.”
"Yes, ma'am," Kylie replies. "We've got this." Working together with Gweyr, they bring the ship down to the lake outside Karn's Keep. Seeing the twins Sherry and Terry waiting for them, Kylie gives them a wave as she settles the ship into the water. "Hi Sherry! Hi Terry!"
Valena wrote:“This is where our journey to the Sylvan Realm began,” Valena will explain to those unfamiliar with this place. “Lord Sharadin let us use a magic item called the Crown of the Stars to fly a barge through the air. That was how we eventually reached the Sylvan Realm.”
Kylie thinks back to that trip. In truth, it wasn't so long ago, but it seems like it was a very long while indeed. She and the others have changed greatly since then.

The twins announce that everyone else - whomever that might be - have already arrived, so Kylie floats down and follows them inside. She hopes that Sherwood will be there as she hasn't seen him in a little while and she misses her 'uncle'.

Pinit:

December 7th, CR 571 or Deepnight 29th, 20,519 AP

It is early in the morning and those going on the Sunflower to Karn's Keep to take on the HIVE are starting to arrive. Some meeting and greeting is taking place.
Lia wrote:She will find Allurien and Lilia. “ May I have a moment in private?”

“Yesterday when I had that funny feeling, I went to go look. I found Eilistraee’s altar hidden from non believers. There is an armory of drow made weapons and I found something more.” She slowly takes the tabard of the Darksong knights and shows the Queen and Speaker. “They were not myths. They were your guards to the underneath and Underdark.”
“That's wonderful, Lia,” Speaker Allurien says. “It seems now that we have five separate organizations to the protect the Sylvan Realm for the threats it faces. Although I do imagine that it will be difficult for you to gain new followers way out here.”
Laucian wrote:Laucian will find whatever Griffon rider who is about and ask them to patrol the skies as normal in their absence.
Actually, there are no Griffon Riders present. Clan Long Runner reached Pinit by way of the Sunflower, so they did not have days of walking to reach here. It just took a few hours. The other griffon riders were split up among the various traveling clans and are presumably still there along with the Forest Riders.
Laucian wrote:A smile etches across his face. “Then we are in the finest of hands. Just mind your head, their drones like to attach and take over your body. I would not wish to see that happen to you.”
“I wouldn't like to see that happen to me either!” Gweyr answers with a laugh. “If I see anything like that, I'll fry them!”
Kylie wrote:Kylie thinks back to what they were told after the battle. "Yes, it was part of that. The attackers were agents of a Duke Kelvin who instigated the war. He is apparently in league with an Alphatian named Lady Dahlia Mingor."
“Names I am unfamiliar with,” Allurien admits. “but then again, I didn't pay much attention to the rulers of Cynalon beyond where I lived.”
Laucian wrote:A blue elf soon says hi and Laucian looks at her quizzically. “ Myev? You look well.” He says evenly not totally sure what to say to the scro turned elf.
“I feel well,” Myev happily answers.

Silvarn spots Myev and is surprised to find what she calls a telf here.
Kylie wrote:Kylie looks quizzically at Lilia. "A what?"

“I am,” Silvarn easily answers as she stops to speak to Laucian. “The threat of the HIVE demands my attention. They are threat to all living things and cannot go unchecked. I met your Queen and many of your comrades a few days ago when they visited Karn's Keep. Since their skills at piloting a flying ship like this over a vast distance is limited, I offered to handle it for them.”

Karn's Keep:

Thanks to Silvarn's assistance, the Sunflower makes the journey from the Sylvan Realm to above Karn's Keep in a matter of minutes. Kylie and Gweyr then work to lower the ship to the lake beside the Keep and finally to the small dock. There, the twin daughters are waiting for you to arrive. Greetings and introductions are exchanged.
Kylie wrote:"Yes, ma'am," Kylie replies. "We've got this." Working together with Gweyr, they bring the ship down to the lake outside Karn's Keep. Seeing the twins Sherry and Terry waiting for them, Kylie gives them a wave as she settles the ship into the water. "Hi Sherry! Hi Terry!"
“Hello Kylie!” the twins call out.

“We should warn those that who have never been to Karn's Keep before what you are about to experience,” One of the twins announces while casting Myev a wary glance.

“The keep was built by giants in the distant past.”

“Everything here is much bigger that you'd expect.”

“About three times bigger.”

“Good!” Myev responds. “I won't have to duck anymore!”

As the group crosses the dock towards Karn's Keep, some will note that is much later in the day than it was back in the Sylvan Realm. There the sun had just risen and here is high in the sky.

There is a door at the other end of the dock. A tunnel leads into the basement of Karn's Keep to an area familiar to those who have been here before, especially recently. Not far away are stairs. One goes down to the large chamber that holds the Pillar Artifact of Karn's Keep. The other stairs goes up the ground floor. Even the stairs are giant sized! However normal human sized treads where added down the middle to permit easy passage of non-giants.

Once up on the ground floor, the twins lead the elves through a huge doorway into a vast chamber. The door is giant-sized but has a human sized door cut into it. The large chamber is the Grand Hall and it is equally huge. The far wall is nearly two hundred feet away while the length of the room is even longer than that. The ceiling of this vaulted chamber is easily 90’ overhead.

The floor and walls of this vast chamber are stone gray in color. Huge tapestries line the sidewalls of the room. There is no outside light to the chamber, but illumination is provided by almost a dozen floating, glowing globes of light. They gently drift about the vast chamber like bubbles.

At the far end of the room, a huge giant-sized throne sits on a dais. The seat of the chair is over your heads. Several guards stand on duty, but do not move to challenge you as you are in the company of the Ladies of the Keep.

Up ahead, some of you see the teleportation arrival area on the far balcony. A spiral staircase goes up to that platform and that is the way the twins go. From there another door leads into a huge thirty foot wide hallway. At the far end of the hallway is the meeting room that has been used in each of the last few visits.

Loud voices are heard laughing and talking as the elves get closer. A guard opens the door as the group approaches. The meeting area is a huge 60' square room. It also functions as the map room for the keep. A huge table fills the middle of the room and on its top is a huge map covering this are of the world. Many more maps are hanging from the walls around the room. There are also many comfortable chairs and small couches in the room.

An eclectic group of individuals are also present in the room. The vast majority of those present are a group dwarves in plate mail armor. The dwarves are the source of most of the noise and are already drinking ale. There is over a dozen dwarves.

Lord Sharadin is spotted further in speaking to a woman in uniform. The uniform is suspiciously similar to the one that Captain of the Lady Iris wore and is most likely naval in origin. She wears a dark blue overcoat with a few medals and insignia's of rank. White trousers can been seen disappearing into shiny black low heeled boots. Her tricorn hat is tucked under arm.

Off in one corner, stand a trio of unusual looking men. One has a complexion not common in this area, nor is his style of dress. He appears to be an islander and is dresser like someone who lives in a much warmer climate. (Basically he has the complexion of a Polynesian to use a real world example.)

The middle of the three men is rather unremarkable. He is dressed as and appears to be a normal Cynalonian citizen. This stands in sharp contrast the third man who is also dressed for much warmer climates. He is bare chested and barefoot. Colorful feathers are worked into his hair. Those who get close will note that his golden eyes are serpent like!

Lord Sharadin notes the elves arrival and comes forth to greet you.

“Good, you've made it,” the Archmage of Cynalon calls out. “Lets get the introductions out of the way. Quiet please! It's time to begin.”

The dwarves settle down and come forth. Three of the armored dwarves come to the front, most likely the leaders of this band. Two of the three dwarves are female, with one displaying a holy symbol that is familiar to some. She is an older woman and is also a Priestess of Berronar. (That was the same faith as Grondar.)

“That is a lot o' elves,” one of the dwarves in the back calls out. “And so far from a forest!” That brings laughs from those in back and an annoyed glance of the male dwarf up front.

“It's been a long times since I've seen so many dwarves sober,” Andlin calls out, bringing another round of laughter from many of the dwarves.

“An elf in plate armor?” a different dwarf shouts. “Never thought I'd live to see that we me own eyes!”

“You're alright, elf!” another dwarf calls out to Andlin.

“Knock if off, grunts!” the male dwarf commands and those under his command go silent.

Lord Sharadin gestures towards the dwarves. “The dwarves are from the 4th EDF unit of the Royal Dwarven Army,” Lord Sharadin explains. “That stands for Elite Dwarven Forces. They are close quarters combat experts and I have seen them in action before. The are nicknamed 'The Goblin Kickers'.”

“Good ta work with you again, Lord Sharadin,” the leader of the Goblin Kickers calls out. “It's been too long.”

“That it has, Lieutenant Stonebeard,” Lord Sharadin agrees.

“This be Sergeant Shalecrusher,” Lieutenant Stonebeard announces. “The priestess we call Ma Granite. A dozen foot soldiers make up the rest o' the Goblin Kickers. You want something crushed? You call us! We pound the ground!”

Gesturing to the uniformed woman on one side of the dwarves, Lord Sharadin introduces her as, “This is Captain Antilles Roma, of the 5th Imperial Alphatian Navy. Commander of the peacekeeping currently patrolling Cynalon.”

“Good to meet you,” Captain Roma says with a distinct Alphatian accent. “If this HIVE is as dangerous as Lord Sharadin suggests, then they must be eliminated to protect the empire. I am happy to assist in this matter. My flagship, the Dauntless, will meet us at the battle site. We will deliver a decisive and devastating blow to the enemy.”

Silvarn picks up the introductions for the three men who remain separate from everyone else. “I brought with me three individuals whom I have worked with separately in the past,” Silvarn explains. “They are Saryn (the Polynesian looking one), Lothtor (the normal looking one) and Quirin (the one with the colorful feathers.)”

Each name nods as introduced, but says nothing. They seem to be gauging the new arrivals and cannot help but stare at Myev.

“Joining us is Queen Lilliathelionn Allandros of the Sylvan Realm and her associates,” Lord Sharadin speaks aloud turning to the elves.

Taking her cue, Lilia handles the rest of the introductions gesturing towards her companions as she calls them by name. “May I introduce Laucian Nailo, Valena Feador, Kylie Lanthorn, Lia and Talen Galandal, Arlen and Onas Brightsword, Andlin Alastra, Gweyr Autumnfire and last, but not least, Myev.”

“Pleasure to meet you all,” Lord Sharadin will say. “Let's take a few moments to mingle and then we can get down to planning our assault.”

Myev pays little attention to those in the room and is seemingly oblivious to their looks. Instead she makes a beeline to the maps and starts to poor over them with great excitement.

A few minutes later, Lord Sharadin will direct everyone to one of the tables in this vast chamber. It was here that Lord Karn plotted and planned his campaigns. This was a battle table complete with figurines and terrain features to map out a battle site.

“Unfortunately, we don't have much details on what we are walking into,” Lord Sharadin states. “Therefore I haven't done much in the way of setting up a version of the battle site. I was hoping that Talen could fill in some of the details. Such as where the Pillar Artifacts are in within the elder city.”

“I have only a bare bones plan thus far,” Lord Sharadin continues. “We'll all enter the ruins together and establish a foothold at one of the Pillar Artifacts. I've had one of the Spell Engines from the Lady Iris removed from the ship and mounted on a cart with wheels. We'll push this Spell Engine through the portal with us.”

“On the other side we'll establish a perimeter. My daughters will control the Spell Engine and erect a defensive shield around the Pillar Artifact to keep the HIVE from reaching it. Talen will remain there as well, as he is our way out should we need to withdraw. From there, the rest of us advance in groups and take out targets as we come across from them.”

“Once I can see the sky, I will create a flare for the Dauntless to see,” Captain Roma adds. “My ship will arrive in a few moments and provide aerial cover for the ground assault.”

“I and my companions will go our own way,” Silvarn speaks up. “We'll function better on our own where we can use our abilities fully.”

“I know ye been tellin' us about this thar HIVE o' yours, but what are they really?” Lieutenant Stonebeard wonders.

“The HIVE are parasites,” Silvarn explains. “Insects that attach themselves to other beings and slow transform the victim into one of them. This can include monstrous creatures as well. Given that the lost elder city is deep within a swamp, we can expect to come across transformed creatures such as lizard men and their ilk. Possibly worse.”

“How do the HIVE infect others?” Captain Roma inquires.

“They attach themselves to their victims at the back of the neck,” Silvarn answers. “Then they burrow into the brain of the victim.”

“That's disgustin'!” Sergeant Shalecrusher declares.

“Presumably the HIVE would have trouble attaching themselves to those whose heads are protected, such as by wearing armored helms,” Silvarn muses. “Everyone else will have to watch your back and your companions backs.”

With that announcement, many of the dwarves present put their helms on!

“Anyone have anything else to add?” Lord Sharadin inquires.

GM Notes:

And those are the allies that Lord Sharadin and Silvarn recruited. No one here has met any of these individuals, although some I have used in other games before, so not new to me.

Now what?

Lilia:
Lia wrote:She will find Allurien and Lilia. “May I have a moment in private?”
“Of course, Lia,” Lilia answers.
Lia wrote:“Yesterday when I had that funny feeling, I went to go look. I found Eilistraee’s altar hidden from non believers. There is an armory of drow made weapons and I found something more. She slowly takes the tabard of the Darksong knights and shows the Queen and Speaker. “They were not myths. They were your guards to the underneath and Underdark.”
“I suspected as much,” Lilia states. “I could feel the presence of Corellon not far away as well. It is fitting that his daughter is close by.”
Allurien wrote:“That's wonderful, Lia,” Speaker Allurien says. “It seems now that we have five separate organizations to the protect the Sylvan Realm for the threats it faces. Although I do imagine that it will be difficult for you to gain new followers way out here.”
“Regardless of what does happen in the future, I am sure that the Darksong Knights are in good hands, Lia,” Lilia says.

Laucian wrote:“When we left the spiders that dwelled there had been eradicated. Our people were within Telsun until Einsun was clear. Clan Grunalf is now settling in to our ancestral home and mourning the 4 elves that gave their lives for the clan.”
“Spiders, you say?” Lilia wonders aloud. “I was not aware that you had any difficulties, but news does travel slowly.”
Laucian wrote:“It was no easy feat. Our arrows could not penetrate it’s armor, thankfully our mages were with us. They turned the tide of battle.”
“It is good that you were able to free Einsun,” Lilia states. “I will have to visit when I have the chance.”

Silvarn wrote:“It's slang,” Silvarn explains. “Elfin kind more or less comes in three different sizes. Those who are like Myev here. She is a tall elf, a telf for short. Then there are those who are similar to humans in stature and lastly those elves, such as yourself, who are smaller.”
Lilia listens as Silvarn explains her use of the word 'telf'. “I see,” Lilia says accepting the explanation. She does wonder, given this new revelation, what are elves of her size called? Self's?

Silvarn guides the Sunflower to the Karn's Keep in a matter of minutes. To be able to travel so quickly is a wondrous thing! If we can do this, then we would be able to make trips back to the Elfholds on a weekly basis instead of waiting for the Rainbow Bridge to open. This opens up a great many opportunities for trade and getting supplies.

We meet the twins on the dock and they escort us into the Keep. Although by now Lilia is confident that she can find her own way. The twins explain what Karn's Keep is to those who have not been here before. Lilia is content to follow along and is used to the giant-sized structure.

Soon we reach the meeting area and find it filled with many individuals the majority of which seem to be dwarves. Lord Sharadin is speaking to a human woman dressed in a uniform similar that the one worn by the captain of the Lady Iris. That is a concern to Lilia.

Then there are three human males, two of which are unusual looking. Dragons in disguise?

Lord Sharadin calls the gathering to order.
“Good, you've made it,” the Archmage of Cynalon calls out. “Lets get the introductions out of the way. Quiet please! It's time to begin.”

Lilia will flash a smile at Andlin's response to the dwarves, but otherwise makes no comment on it.

Lord Sharadin introduces the dwarves as a military unit from the dwarven army. An elite unit at that. That does sound promising. Front line fighters are always needed.

The human female is introduced.

Lilia nods her approval. Additional mage power and ground forces are a solid combination. Silvarn introduces her recruits.

Lilia continues to suspect that two, if not all three, are not what they appear to be, but otherwise does not comment on the matter. Silvarn trusts them and that is what matters.
Lord Sharadin wrote:“Joining us is Queen Lilliathelionn Allandros of the Sylvan Realm and her associates,” Lord Sharadin speaks aloud turning to the elves.

Lilia notes Myev's interest in the maps. She starts to walk in that direction, but pauses to get Lord Sharadin's attention.

“Lord Sharadin, a word if I may?” Lilia inquires. “Myev is skilled in navigation. May she peruse your collection of maps?”

Assuming the answer is yes, Lilia will go over to Myev.

“Lord Sharadin says its okay to examine the maps,” Lilia tells Myev. “Are these helpful to you? Will they give you the information you need to navigate the Sunflower?”

On her way back to the others, Lilia will say a few words to the Alphatian Captain.

“Captain Roma,” Lilia calls out. “I don't believe I have met an officer in the Alphatian Navy before. I look forward to see your ship in action. I assume it has a full compliment of Spell Engines? How does it compare to the Sunflower?”

Such as where the Pillar Artifacts are in within the elder city."
Lilia looks towards Talen to see if he has any insights on this Elder City in the swamp.
Lord Sharadin wrote:“I have only a bare bones plan thus far,” Lord Sharadin continues.

“That is brilliant!” Lilia calls out. She had never considered using a Spell Engine in such a manner before, only in regards of a ship. But as she read in the instruction manual, the Spell Engine needs to be secured to something for it to function. Clearly that something does not need to be a sailing ship. Plus the plan keeps Talen safe, which is something Lilia fully approves of.

Captain Roma and Silvarn add there own comments on what they intend to do. Talk then turns to the subject of the HIVE themselves.
Lord Sharadin wrote:“Anyone have anything else to add?” Lord Sharadin inquires.
“At the moment, no, Lord Sharadin,” Lilia states. “We'll know more once we have entered the Elder City and are face to face with the HIVE.”

Talen:

Outside the caves of the Darksong Knights.
Kylie wrote:Kylie chuckles in response to Talen's comment. "In our line of work, that's not necessarily a bad approach."
“I suppose not,” Talen will agree. “She's just to eager to seek out battle before knowing it is necessary.”

While Lia is away, Talen and Kylie wait and talk. Eventually, Lia does return.
Lia wrote:Seeing the two have waited for her. “ I just prayed at the temple for our safe journey and return.”
Kylie wrote:Eventually Lia emerges from the area blocked to Talen and Kylie. "I guess that is not so surprising, considering what we've learned about the Darksong Knights," Kylie replies. "Perhaps what seemed like a wall to us is just some kind of powerful illusion that provides a rocky barrier to those not allowed within."
“Well, looks like you found what you were looking for after all,” Talen adds. “It just took a long time to get to this place.”

Next day we are off on the Sunflower as Silvarn pilots the ship to Karn's Keep in just a matter of minutes. Not long after that, the Sunflower sets down in the small lake next to the keep. Sherry and Terry await us on the dock. Greetings are exchanged and the twins lead us into the keep and up to the meeting area. Inside the meeting area are many dwarves, a lady in uniform and an odd looking trio of men. Introductions follow.
Lord Sharadin wrote:“Good, you've made it,” the Archmage of Cynalon calls out. “Lets get the introductions out of the way. Quiet please! It's time to begin.”
“Uncle,” Talen nods in greeting.
Lord Sharadin wrote:“Unfortunately, we don't have much details on what we are walking into,” Lord Sharadin states. “Therefore I haven't done much in the way of setting up a version of the battle site. I was hoping that Talen could fill in some of the details. Such as where the Pillar Artifacts are in within the elder city.”
“I can sense that there are two formations within or near to the city,” Talen reports. “If I had to guess I'd say that they are at opposite ends. It was unusual to find two of them so close to each other. I cannot say where the city to city pillars are located at. I have yet to make contact with that particular web.”

From there, Lord Sharadin lays out his plan of attack.
Lord Sharadin wrote:“I have only a bare bones plan thus far,” Lord Sharadin continues. “We'll all enter the ruins together and establish a foothold at one of the Pillar Artifacts. I've had one of the Spell Engines from the Lady Iris removed from the ship and mounted on a cart with wheels. We'll push this Spell Engine through the portal with us.”

Talen will remain there as well, as he is our way out should we need to withdraw. From there, the rest of us advance in groups and take out targets as we come across from them.”
Talen isn't thrilled about staying behind at the Pillar Artifact, but he can understand his uncle's reasoning. Plus his cousins will be there using a Spell Engine for protection. It makes sense.

“When do we leave?” Talen asks.

Onas Brightsword:
Valena wrote:“That is Silvarn,” Valena says to Arlen and Onas Brightsword. “I've crossed paths with her before. She's a powerful associate of Lord Sharadin, the Archmage of Cynalon. I wonder why she is here?”
Valena, head of the Silver Maidens, points out the silver-haired woman as they board the ship. Onas glances over at the woman before returning his gaze to Valena. "I couldn't begin to guess, but any friend of the archmage is someone I'm happy to have along. From what I've gathered, we can use all the powerful allies we can collect."

The trip back to Cynalon is incredibly fast, mostly due to the efforts of this Silvarn. Valena gives them a brief history lesson as the ship descends.
"Using a crown to fly a barge... That is quite a story, Valena. How many of you were there on the barge?" he asks.

As they make their way into the keep, the twins warn them that it was built by giants, causing the dimensions to be oversized for other such as themselves. Looking about, Onas cannot help noting the great size of the windows and doors, and even the steps as the approach the stairs. Fortunately, more normal-sized stairs have been carved into the rock to accommodate non-giants.

They make their way through the castle following the twins. Each room is as spectacular as the next, though the heaviness of so much stone leaves Onas feeling weighed-down. There is so little of the plant life that elven culture is deeply entwined with. In truth, it is a bit unnerving.

Eventually they are led into a large room where others are waiting. A large table dominates the center of the room. Around the table are a variety of disparate peoples, chatting together in clumps. The archmage greets the new arrivals, which sparks a brief volley of verbal sparring between Andlin and some of the dwarves. It is not clear whether he knows these particular dwarves, or has just spent enough time with their kin to be comfortable. While Onas has certainly met dwarves before, he has nowhere near that level of familiarity.

At a question from Sharadin, Talen responds that there may be two portals at either end of the Hive base. This starts Onas to thinking...

The chatter is cut short and Sharadin begins the introductions with the dwarves. Apparently they are part of an elite unit of dwarven warriors. The next is a Captain in the Alphatian navy; even a few of their ships would be a huge boon to the looming battle.

Next, Silvarn introduces three men standing off by themselves, who seem to have little else in common. Each of the three accept their introductions silently. Onas finds himself wondering what kind of abilities they have, but that information doesn't appear to be forthcoming. The introductions are completed by Queen Lilia. Onas salutes crisply when his name is called.

Discussion then turns to tactics for the assault on the Hive nest and the nature of these strange invaders. The idea of using a Spell Engine to protect Talen and the Pillar-created gate is quite clever, and apparently Lilia agrees. The rest will fan out in groups.

Onas has heard previously about these Hive creatures, so he is not so affected by the telling as those who have not. Many of the dwarves quickly slip their helmets on at the news. While he doesn't do likewise, he is glad for having a sturdy helmet to wear.
Sharadin wrote:“Anyone have anything else to add?” Lord Sharadin inquires.
"If I may, my Lord," Onas interjects as he takes a half step forward. "What is our plan in regards to the composition of those groups - other than Lady Silvarn and her friends of course? Also, Talen mentioned two of these transportation pillars. Does that constitute a potential escape route for the enemy? Should we consider sending some of our forces in each way to cut them off?"

“That won't be a problem,” Talen speaks up. “I turned the Pillar Artifacts off a few days ago. I'll activate the one we use, but deactivate the other. They may try to use it, but it won't work for them. As long as I'm at the one Pillar Artifact, I can keep the other locked.”

Onas wrote:"Using a crown to fly a barge... That is quite a story, Valena. How many of you were there on the barge?" he asks.
“Eight, I believe,” Valena says mentally counting the size of the group. “The five who were chosen along with Laucian, Sherwood and I. The trip was very dull. Once they switched over to using a Spell Engine, we few non-stop for a week to reach the Sylvan Realm.”

Valena follows the others inside. Several days were spent at Karn's Keep before we departed for the Sylvan Realm, so it is a familiar place. The twins lead us to the meeting area where all the others going on this mission are waiting.

“The one good thing about so many dwarves,” Valena says quietly to those around her, “is that it is easy to shoot your bow over them.”

Valena is content to observe what is going on and pays attention to the plan Lord Sharadin is putting forth.

Laucian will nod his greeting to the twins upon seeing them. As he follows the others up through Karn’s Keep to the meeting area.
Laucian’s eyes look about the room and they linger upon the table map. It is much like tht of the Slyvan realm. He holds off on walking to it as he sees those who are already in the room.
A human woman in uniform speaks to Lord Sharadin. A dozen or so dwarves in armor loudly converse in a corner along with 3 individuals. Laucian notes that one of the man’s eyes are strange, though he makes no mention of it.
“Knock if off, grunts!” the male dwarf commands and those under his command go silent.
“The sound they make when they get hit.” He says under his breath.
Laucian, removes his griffon rider’s helm( not on his CS but I recall him having a helm that increases his eyesight) Please correct me if I am wrong.) His copper hair falling from it. “Greetings and Well Met.” He says simply to those about them.
“Anyone have anything else to add?” Lord Sharadin inquires.
“Be weary of the dead. The bug that Silvarn speaks of can animate them, even manage the corpse to speak. A few arrows can kill the bugs easily enough but if they decide to swarm..” he leaves it at that, "So mind each other’s head.”
After Onas speaks of separating the force, Laucian asks. “Is there a way to have the shield activated as we go through the portal? Have it about the twins and the spell engine and then enlarge it once we enter? As you say we do not know what we are walking into. It is a swamp so lizardfolk and the like maybe about.
“There is also a chance the Hive has passed over some of it’s prospective victims. Those it sees weak or undesirable were imprisoned. It takes only that it views as strong candidates. If we cross their prisons, there maybe unknowingly allies of what race I do not know.
Laucian will then see what the others say about the matter.

Kylie Lanthorn the Half-Elven:

At the Mother Tree:
Myev wrote:“That's marvelous!” Myev beams. “Then you can help me if I have any questions.”
Kylie returns Myev's smile. "I'm sure I'll learn as much from you as you learn from me. That's what friends are for."

In Pinit:
Allurien wrote:“Names I am unfamiliar with,” Allurien admits. “but then again, I didn't pay much attention to the rulers of Cynalon beyond where I lived.”
"I know what you mean, mom," Kylie says. "I had heard of Duke Kelvin before, but not this Lady Dahlia. I don't really know much about the Alphatians at all."
Lilia wrote:Lilia listens as Silvarn explains her use of the word 'telf'. “I see,” Lilia says accepting the explanation. She does wonder, given this new revelation, what are elves of her size called? Self's?
One of Kylie's eyebrows arches upwards. "'Tall elf'. I hate to think what the nicknames for the other groups of elves are. Please tell me that the smaller elves are not known as 'smelfs'..."
Talen wrote:“I suppose not,” Talen will agree. “She's just to eager to seek out battle before knowing it is necessary.”
Kylie nods, chuckling. "'Eager' may be a bit of an understatement..."

At Karn's Keep:

Having arrived back at Karn's Keep once again, Terry and Sherry provide a bit of a history lesson on the castle as they lead us inside. The information was already known to her, so Kylie keeps quiet and floats along behind and above the others. From the lake door, we climb the stairs to the Grand Hall. Seeing a couple of guards that she recognizes from before, Kylie waves cheerfully. Up more stairs to the teleport destination and down another hall to the map room. In addition to Sharadin, a quick scan of the room reveals the presence of a number of people she's never met before.

Following some quick jesting between Andlin and a group of dwarves, Sharadin begins by announcing their allies. He introduces Lieutenant Stonebeard, who leads an elite dwarven military squad called the Goblin Kickers. The Lieutenant in turn introduces his assistants, Sergeant Shalecrusher and Ma Granite. Looking at the priestess, the woman's holy symbol and blue accents remind her of Grondar; she'll have to chat with her when the opportunity arises.
Valena wrote:“The one good thing about so many dwarves,” Valena says quietly to those around her, “is that it is easy to shoot your bow over them.”
Kylie snickers for a moment, but chooses not to say anything further on the matter.

Sharadin then introduces a woman dressed in naval attire as Captain Roma of the Alphatian Navy. The Captain promises to bring her flagship to the battle site and turn its guns on the Hive.

Next, Silvarn very briefly introduces a trio of silent men. Kylie cannot help wondering if they are also dragons, or perhaps some other type of unusual beings. Perhaps she will find out by the end of the day.

The introductions conclude with Queen Lilia introducing the rest of us. Kylie, who is floating a bit above and to the left of Talen, just smiles and curtsies when her name is called.

There is a brief discussion of tactics for the assault, with comments and questions from Talen, Onas, and others. Then Silvarn provides information regarding the Hive; to which Laucian contributes more details regarding the insectoids.
Laucian wrote:“There is also a chance the Hive has passed over some of it’s prospective victims. Those it sees weak or undesirable were imprisoned. It takes only that it views as strong candidates. If we cross their prisons, there maybe unknowingly allies of what race I do not know."
"That's a good point, Laucian," Kylie replies. "That is how we found both Myev and that Argent. Who knows how many prisoners they may have."

Lia
As Lia steps off the Sunflower into Karn’s Keep. She smiles at her cousin’s giving them each a greeting. She walks through the area with her cowl pulled up and over her face. Her eyes lavender orbs beneath it’s shadow.
Walking into the meeting room, Lia sees the dwarves and several others in deep conversation.
“Forgive my interruption, But Talen was able to create furniture at the other Elder site. It could be possible to create them for defensive purposes or seal passages. Seeing as you do not have a battle plan, this should be considered."
“Anyone have anything else to add?” Lord Sharadin inquires.
“Silvarn has added much to what we will encounter. I have fought them hand to hand, Lt. Stonebeard. Their armour is thick and pinchers can cut through armour, if given the chance. They will also try to bite you. It is troubling to imagine if they turn creatures that our bigger than us.
The last thing you shall hear is the bladesong of my sword.

Laucian
Missed this..
With Lilia-
“Spiders, you say?” Lilia wonders aloud. “I was not aware that you had any difficulties, but news does travel slowly.”
“Aye, some the size of our cooshees, some larger.” He says evenly. “Nor would you, My queen. You have
more to worry about then just our clan.”
“It is good that you were able to free Einsun,” Lilia states. “I will have to visit when I have the chance.”
“There maybe strange creatures there in time and an owl that speaks. They are now allies. In the time we have been here in the Slyvan realm I feel more of a negotiator.” He says with a slight smirk. “It seems my bow is not the only skill.

As the meeting goes on, Laucian will hold off on meeting with the new companions, when the meeting is over he will then speak with them.

Lilia:
Laucian wrote:“Aye, some the size of our cooshees, some larger.” He says evenly. “Nor would you, My queen. You have more to worry about then just our clan.”
“While it is true I may no longer call myself a member of Clan Grunalf, I will always be one in my heart,” Lilia counters. “I will always have interest in their well being.”
Laucian wrote:“There maybe strange creatures there in time and an owl that speaks. They are now allies. In the time we have been here in the Sylvan realm I feel more of a negotiator.” He says with a slight smirk. “It seems my bow is not the only skill.”
“It is not a bad policy to befriend those that you can,” Lilia says. “And it is always wise to have your bow at the ready should they not be friendly.”

The twins escort the elves through Karn's Keep. The new arrivals look about in wonder while Lilia is more blase about it.

“It's still a giant cave,” is Lilia's comment on the whole matter.

Soon we are at the meeting area and are introduced to our allies on this mission. Many dwarfs are present and they have not always had the best of relations with elves in the past.
Valena wrote:“The one good thing about so many dwarves,” Valena says quietly to those around her, “is that it is easy to shoot your bow over them.”
Kylie wrote:Kylie snickers for a moment, but chooses not to say anything further on the matter.

“Behave,” Lilia will advise with a whisper.

Talk turns on what we may be encountering.
Laucian wrote:“Be weary of the dead. The bug that Silvarn speaks of can animate them, even manage the corpse to speak. A few arrows can kill the bugs easily enough but if they decide to swarm..” he leaves it at that, "So mind each other’s head.”
“The smaller ones that latch on to your heads can travel in swarms, so be on guard for that,” Lilia adds. “But they are frail and even the simplest area of effect spells can remove them.”
Laucian wrote:After Onas speaks of separating the force, Laucian asks. “Is there a way to have the shield activated as we go through the portal? Have it about the twins and the spell engine and then enlarge it once we enter? As you say we do not know what we are walking into. It is a swamp so lizardfolk and the like maybe about.”
Lilia is curious about this as well as we have not used the shield function much to become familiar with it.
Laucian wrote:“There is also a chance the Hive has passed over some of it’s prospective victims. Those it sees weak or undesirable were imprisoned. It takes only that it views as strong candidates. If we cross their prisons, there maybe unknowingly allies of what race I do not know.
Kylie wrote:"That's a good point, Laucian," Kylie replies. "That is how we found both Myev and that Argent. Who knows how many prisoners they may have."
“Speaking of Argent,” Lilia speaks up, “the HIVE we fought was using one of them as their Hive Queen and was directing their operations. According to Talen, another Argent also appeared at our destination. It is not unreasonable to think that this other Argent was also changed into a Hive Queen. The HIVE we encountered were also able to mimic her unique style in casting Magic Missiles. It seems the HIVE to take abilities from those in their thrall and make them their own. Lady Silvarn, do you have any further insight into that aspect of the HIVE?”
Lia wrote:“Forgive my interruption, But Talen was able to create furniture at the other Elder site. It could be possible to create them for defensive purposes or seal passages. Seeing as you do not have a battle plan, this should be considered."
“I forgot about that,” Lilia admits. “If Talen can manipulate the environment like he can back in Shillesta, then perhaps he could create barriers to block enemy advancement.”
Lia wrote:“Silvarn has added much to what we will encounter. I have fought them hand to hand, Lt. Stonebeard. Their armor is thick and pincers can cut through armor, if given the chance. They will also try to bite you. It is troubling to imagine if they turn creatures that our bigger than us.”
“We encountered orcs and elves that were transformed by the HIVE,” Lilia adds. “They were slowly be changed into man-sized ant-like creatures. However, they all fell easily enough before us. That shall do so once more.”
Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!

Kylie Lanthorn the Half-Elven:
Lilia wrote:“Behave,” Lilia will advise with a whisper.
Valena's comment about the dwarves draws a chuckle from Kylie, but apparently Lilia isn't amused. Kylie smirks for a moment, then composes her face into something more 'proper' and nods to the queen.
Lilia wrote:“Speaking of Argent,” Lilia speaks up, “the HIVE we fought was using one of them as their Hive Queen and was directing their operations. Lady Silvarn, do you have any further insight into that aspect of the HIVE?”
Kylie deflates visibly. "I really hope that we don't have to kill another Argent," she says softly as she recalls the pain of having to kill her friend once already.
Lilia wrote:“I forgot about that,” Lilia admits. “If Talen can manipulate the environment like he can back in Shillesta, then perhaps he could create barriers to block enemy advancement.”
Lia brings up a good point about Talen's new abilities, and Lilia supports the idea. "I suppose it may depend on how much of the red stone is still there. Good to be on the lookout for whatever we can use to our advantage." Kylie looks down to make sure that Talen is taking note of his sister's suggestion.
