Prologue:
Somewhere beyond space and time she watched the current game end. Or so she thought. The man dressed in blue had done his part, sealing the fracture into the fourth dimension. Fueled by the combined energies of the Q'rrm Effect and that of magic, a null time bubble had been formed. Inside the bubble the past, the present, and the future all existed simultaneously in the here and now.
Sealing the fracture should have been the end of the matter. All calculations had suggested that. However, as there always was when dealing with something so fragile as the temporal integrity of the multiverse, there was a small margin for error. On this particular occasion she made an error.
As she began to turn away from the game board an alarm sounded. "Now what?", she muttered in exasperation. "Infinity, report."
Infinity, her highly advanced sentiment computer, quickly scanned Downtown San Diego on Earth AC532D. "Temporal instability remains. Small temporal wormholes are being detected, along with traces of hyper-accelerated time and pockets of temporal inversions. Sealing the rift was not enough to end this particular temporal incursion."
"Wonderful", she muttered to herself, throwing her hands into the air. "If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself."
While the crisis had shrunk considerably in size, problems still remained. Invisible doorways to the past and to the future were opening at random within the former time bubble. Pockets of time passing faster than normal or evening going in reverse were also being detected. This would simply not do.
"Infinity, contact my agents on Earth AC894G. They need to return home to fix some left over problems."
Crucible #8 - "History Repeats Itself"
Inside Horton's Plaza...
In the aftermath of the sacrifice ritual, the situation between Green Steel and Nightstalker has erupted into more violence. Green lands a powerful punch that momentarily dazes 'Stalker. The others in the area try to break up this fight. Frostbite and Phaseflux attempt to reason with Green Steel, while Krystyna makes sure that Nightstalker is okay.
However, their efforts seem to be for naught and the pair closes on each other. They move towards each other and as they do they and everyone in the immediate area commences to move slower. Finally everything comes to a complete stop!
Slowly everyone begins to move once more, but this time backwards! Everyone's words and actions are unfolding in reverse! The effect continues to accelerate and everyone becomes a blur as his or her actions are undone. Slightly dazed and more than a bit confused by this strange occurrence, the reversal of time ceases and once again begins to move forward at its normal pace.
Outside Horton's Plaza...
Outside of Horton's Plaza the affects of the time inversion are not felt. Time marches on at its usual pace. While IT & YU converse in the background, Lily Pak has just met Serena.
Lily explains that a purple monster grabbed her and that in the process she lost her bags holding items she had purchased in the plaza. Serena is eager to seek out this purple monster and recover Lily's lost items.
Lily further explains that, "Actually, the creature grabbed me, not my 'goods' as you call them. Its touch felt like it was sucking the life out of me and I passed out. The bags fell from my hands."
"Some sort of magical beast," Serena surmises, a furrow forming on her brow. "Most definitely a menace that must be dealt with so that honest folk need not live in fear!"
Lily looks around at her surroundings and finds that she is just outside the mall where she had been shopping. Still unsure how she got here, Lily raises her arm and points at the building. "I was in there at the time, just in front of Maxi's Boutique."
"Then let us proceed to find this monster and recover your stolen property!"
"You know," Lily adds as they walk along, "they have the nicest selection of summer dresses - and they're on sale right now."
"I have to confess that I am intrigued," Serena admits. "It has been a long time since I've had the opportunity to visit the markets. From what I've noted so far of this city, my style of dress is most out of place, although I don't quite understand why. Perhaps you would be kind enough to assist me in selecting something more appropriate once we've recovered your goods?"
As the two walk along a very peculiar thing occurs. For a few seconds time accelerates around them. They quickly cover ground in the amount of time that normally would have taken minutes. When the effect releases the two women they are a short distance away from Gargoyle, Major Star, and Silver Avenger Rackham.

Inside Horton's Plaza...
Back at the main summoning site, the fighting continues. Nightstalker directs his atomic reconstruction to manipulate the plaza floor underneath Hellfire. The sudden whiteout blocks most of his sight, but the strange reddish energies swirling inside Hellfire stand out like a beacon. The ground twists and turns to his will, changing into titanium. At the same time it surges upwards around Hellfire, leaving only his head exposed in a solid metallic pillar.
Next Nightstalker directs his attention to "Mister White Christmas" in the middle of the blizzard. "You've got the wrong holiday. How about moving your cold front outta here before someone really gets iced. Capiche?"
Locating the speaker, Frostbite quickly lowers his hands in an effort to appear non-hostile. Frostbite responds with, "I didn't mean to do this. I didn't ask for these blasted powers and I'm doing my best to bring them under control! With all due respect, could you give me a little bit of breathing room while I try to put an end to this blizzard?" Frostbite begins to concentrate in an attempt to remove the whiteout he suddenly and quite unexpectedly created.
Realizing that Frostbite is not an enemy, Nightstalker backs off. "Just take it easy, bro," he calls back in an awkward attempt to sound reassuring, despite his appearance and the eerie ring in his voice. "You and I are in the same boat. There are probably others too. No telling how widespread the effects of that spell were. I went through the same deal you are not two minutes ago. Just take a deep breath and do the best you can."
A short distance away, Phaseflux is also inside the blizzard. He senses Rage is very close and shrinks to avoid being struck. A second later, Phase feels movement above him as Rage lashes out with a wild roundhouse punch that completely misses any target.
Ceasing the opening, Phase suddenly grows once more, rising up and slamming his fists into Rage. The berserker is struck, but barely moved at all from the powerful strike.
"You're goin' down, big man!", Rage promises with an angry sneer. "I'm gonna cut you down to size!"
Rage swings once more and strikes giant sized Phaseflux in the left thigh. The force of the blow sends the giant backwards. Phase falls like a tree that had been chopped down and lands with a loud thud. He momentarily blacks out, but just as quickly regains his wits.
Frostbite sees the falling giant and quickly steps away to avoid being crushed. Affrighter isn't as fortunate and Phase lands right on top of him. Nightstalker was far enough away to avoid the crash.
Far away from all the action, the former Blue Steel huddles in the back of a clothing store, afraid of her new form and terrified that her cravings for warmth will return. She weeps, the tears turning to ice as they roll down her icy blue face. The wispy white mist that surrounds her can be plainly seen by any who take the time to look.
Green Steel wearily forces himself to his feet. Hellfire had landed multiple stab wounds to his chest, piercing his armor with his claws. Numerous holes puncture his armored chest plate. Inside his chest is bloody. His onboard computer indicates multiple systems failure and that the rest of the Steel Squadron is not currently active. He looks around in confusion, trying to find his teammates and comprehend what is going on around him.
Brian Walsh flies in over the battle site. His in-flight telemetry pierces the whiteout revealing everyone inside. Rage bellows over the prone Phaseflux. Seeing that neither Nightstalker nor Frostbite seem to be enemies, Brian concentrates on Rage.
He goes through the motions of activating weapon systems as if he were flying a jet fighter. His hands begin to glow in response. Targeting Rage, a blast of energy leaps from Brian's hands and strikes the red skinned man.
Unexpectedly, the blast explodes on impact. The force of the detonation also washes over Phaseflux, Nightstalker, and Frostbite, but does no significant damage to any of them. They are all unmoved by the explosive energy. Rage just roars in anger.
The next thing Krystyna Walsh knows she's standing beside Black Steel. Somehow, her last step had covered nearly seventy yards! Still invisible, Krys bends down to examine the prone hero. Black Steel remains deathly still.
Suddenly, the armor surrounding the man inside fades in Krys' eyes allowing her to examine the man inside. She can see Black Steel's face. His eyes are open and completely blank. A small trail of drool runs out of the corner of his mouth and down his face. Gazing down his body, Krys can see that Black Steel's heart is unmoving and he is not breathing.
Realizing that Black Steel is dead, Krys looks away. However, something does attract her attention. There's a tattoo on Black Steels arm. The tattoo is of a large red 'V'. At the bottom of the 'V' is what appears to be a hooded snake in gold with red eyes and fangs.
Frostbite's concentration is rewarded and the whiteout disappears as quickly as it appeared. With the blizzard gone, Phaseflux can see Rage standing close by along with Nightstalker.
Brian Walsh continues to buzz the scene overhead. He tries a different tact with his weapon systems and open fires on Rage once more. Another blast of energy comes from his hands, but this time it only impacts upon Rage, but doesn't seem to bother the big man any.
Nightstalker leaps at Rage and slashes him with his translucent energy claws. Rage screams in pain and swears bloody vengeance.
However, Phaseflux interrupts the rampaging man's rants. Back on his feet once more, Phase slams into Rage with his giant-sized fist, blasting the red-skinned man backwards. The former Red Steel is thrown back and is embedded in one of the plaza's walls. Painfully, he pries himself out, but then collapses to the floor unconscious.
Almost unnoticed in the background, the Neanderthals vanish, returning to their proper place in time.

Its déjà vu all over again!
Everyone who experienced either the time acceleration or reversal is vaguely aware of it. Those who went backwards are experiencing that strange sensation that they may have done this before. You've got the chance to re-do your actions. Will things turn out different or will history repeat itself? The choice is yours!
Oh, and the screwy time effects was something I already had in place. I just realized that they might be used to gracefully clean up the mess from the last post.
Here's where everyone is at:
IT & Yu are outside where the saucer blew up. Serena walked off with Lily.
Gargoyle, Major Star, & Silver Avenger Rackham are about 80 yards from the main summoning area. Serena and Lily speed walked to their immediate vicinity in this post, otherwise Gargoyle and company are in the same situation as the last post.
At the main summoning area are Brian & Krystyna Walsh (who is currently invisible), Frostbite, Nightstalker, and Phaseflux. Close by is Green Steel and the former Blue Steel is hiding in a clothing store. Gray Steel is about halfway between the last two groups. Goldstar came flying up a bit later on.
Anyone getting close to Frostbite will notice the following things:
Anyone within six feet will feel a noticeable drop in temperature unless you have immunity to cold.
Anyone within three feet will begin to feel the cold sapping your strength. Again, if you have immunity to cold, this effect won't bother you. The damage taken is very minor, but could add up quickly if you linger. Frost begins to cover anyone this close.
Now if you actually touch Frostbite..., well we'll hold up on that on until someone actually does! ;D
Also, since there are so many characters, it is not necessary for you all to form one large team. You can go it alone as soloists, or in small groups of two or three, or form one large team. The choice is yours.

That does not necessarily mean that they are going to be around all the time or will be regular PC's. They are simply characters that are currently appearing. However, I've reconsidered and am now simply seeing how things work out for her. She may still end up in YC or she may hang around here if folks are nice to her. Just have to see how it all plays out.
I should also note that we also have PC villains in this game. Simply put, it is up to each and every one of you to decide if someone is a friend or a foe. So some of the people that we post may or may not be the nicest of folks.

Likewise there are numerous other characters that we've created who may appear. They may just be guest shots or they may stick around for long periods of time. Once More-with Feeling!
With the conflict over, 'Flux will return to normal size/density. Based on what he overheard between the dark man and the ice-covered one they are not hostiles but rather victims of the same energy effect as the sacraficial captives: likewise the flying man above was also assisting in stopping the raging Red.
And I was feeling very alone just a second ago, thinks Phaseflux!
Looking around he spots Hellfire nicely imprisoned in what appears to be a solid pillor of metal.
"Very nice. Your work" he asks the dark man?
"And can you do it again to him" indicating the other demonic associate?
Without the rush of battle to distract him from it, the pain in his legs makes itself known forcably.
Well, at least there's one advantage to being so high up: no punches to the face and no bruises to explain.
And I was feeling very alone just a second ago, thinks Phaseflux!
Looking around he spots Hellfire nicely imprisoned in what appears to be a solid pillor of metal.

With nothing exciting going on with Major Star and the Silver Avenger, I continue to fly on deeper into this place. Not to far along I see a man in greenish armor touch someone wearing gray armor. I'm also shocked when the gray armored guy just collapses into pieces. I can't help but gasp in response.
Not being able to think of anything appropriate to say to the man in the green armor, I continue to fly on. Somehow flying up to him and say, "Hi! I'm Goldstar" seems inappropriate.
Continue onward I see a whole bunch of colorful characters gathered together. There's a guy with jet-black skin, another that looks like he was frozen alive, and a man in camouflage. A few other normal people are in the area along with several unconscious men.
Not sure what to make of all of this, Goldstar waves as she flies in and lands close to these strange. Perhaps they know who she is.
"Hi! I'm Goldstar! Do any of you know who I am?", she asks in all sincerity. "Do any of you have the strange feel that we did this before?"
Goldstar stands about 5'9" in height and wears a skintight red and dark blue costume. She has long blonde hair and is most attractive. The most noticeable feature, apart from her gold colored skin, is the glitters that flutter around her like fireflies. They just further enhance her looks. She leaves a sparkly trail in her wake when flies. There's a noticeable look of innocent and naivety to Goldstar's face.

After the strange acceleration affect releases Serena and Lily, the Knight finds herself reunited with the strange troll, the man who introduced himself to me as Major Star, and another man in a red, white, and blue costume. The troll, unfortunately he never gave me a name to call him, is strangely covered in some viscous fluid. Serena thinks better than to ask how that transpired!
What does attract Serena’s attention is the badly wounded man lying on the floor near them. It is clear that he is not long for this world unless healing is administered and fast!
“Wait here a moment, Lily,” Serena tells her companion. “I must aid this poor soul before he fades from the light.”
Unless prevented, Serena will move up and kneel down beside the wounded man. She’ll repeat her Healing spell, the same she cast upon the furry lizard outside, and hope that it is strong enough to save this man.
Should Serena succeed, she’ll smile to the trio of men in relief. “I was in time to save him. He will need to see a healer to complete the healing process, but he will live. Now if you will excuse me, I have a thieving purple monster to bring to justice. Pleasant day to you all.”
If the spell is not in time, a look of sorrow will come to Serena’s face. “I am sorry, my efforts come too late. This one has based on to the next world.” After a pause, Serena will add, “Now if you will excuse me, I have a thieving purple monster to bring to justice. Pleasant day to you all.”
Regardless of the outcome, continue on in search of Lily’s missing property and the purple monster that assaulted her.

Unless prevented, Serena will move up and kneel down beside the wounded man. She’ll repeat her Healing spell, the same she cast upon the furry lizard outside, and hope that it is strong enough to save this man.
Should Serena succeed, she’ll smile to the trio of men in relief. “I was in time to save him. He will need to see a healer to complete the healing process, but he will live. Now if you will excuse me, I have a thieving purple monster to bring to justice. Pleasant day to you all.”
If the spell is not in time, a look of sorrow will come to Serena’s face. “I am sorry, my efforts come too late. This one has based on to the next world.” After a pause, Serena will add, “Now if you will excuse me, I have a thieving purple monster to bring to justice. Pleasant day to you all.”
Regardless of the outcome, continue on in search of Lily’s missing property and the purple monster that assaulted her.

Lily:
"AAAAaaaa..." Lily yells in surprise and fear as time dilates around them and once again finds herself moving faster than normal - though not as precipitously as before. Fortunately, the effect doesn't last long. Still, its effect on Lily's now-fragile psyche isn't as attenuated.
"Oh god. The world seems to have gone insane. Isn't this craziness ever going to end? Someone please pinch me so I can wake up from this horrible nightmare..."
Unfortunately, it seems the world as it is is just too real.
Entering the mall, Lily spots several beings off to the left. A grey-skinned man of monstrous appearance catches her attention immediately, and Lily shrinks back. She then notes the other two men dressed in patriotic colors; one looks fairly familiar. Haven't I seen him on TV?... I think he's associated with PRIMUS or something.
Since Serena seems to be busy for the moment and deciding that the grey one can't be too dangerous if the other two are just standing around with him, Lily approaches the trio. Though she can't remember the name, she addresses Major Star as the familiar-looking one in the group.

"You wouldn't happen to know where we are would you?"

He quit the game once and I let him return to post his point of view on what happened. All interested parties did so. Since this was all about a difference of opinion there's never going to be definitive winner or loser. Everyone said their piece and that should have been the end of it. Agree to disagree and get on with your life.
But no, he kept on posting and generally being more obnoxious about it. I twice requested that the subject be dropped and it was ignored both times. After a particularly nasty note earlier this afternoon, which Muskateer deleted so you may not have seen it, I've decided to remove this particular headache from my life and kicked him out.
This action may cause other players to quit the game. That is their choice. Let me know one way or the other. If you have any questions and want any clairifications, then just send me some E-mail. Otherwise, we shall continue on as best we can.
My apologies to all of you who had nothing to do with this unfortunate episode. Hopefully we can put this whole episode behind us, get on with the game, and have fun while doing it. Fun has been sadly lacking as of late. Thank you for your patience during this whole fiasco.
I have to offer my apologies as well to all of you who have had to put up with this situation and were not involved in it. To some of you I have already apologized privately, but I think everyone deserves the same respect, as well. This was supposed to be fun and the last time I ran various temporary characters in games (including villains) it went over very well. I am still not sure how to proceed given the recent 'development' we just went through, but I am sure MAD will run a great game regardless. I echo MAD's thanks for everyone's patience. - MUSK

A strange shimmer comes over Nightstalker's form. He seems just as surprised at it as anyone else. His body becomes more and more out of focus, seemingly stretching until it is gone completely.
(You've got to love those random wandering time portals to swallow up problems. ;D)
Serena:
Serena casts her healing spell on the wounded man. Between being swallowed by the T-Rex and the stomach acid burns, he's in pretty bad shape. Upon the completion of the spell, his condition does seem to stabilize. He's no longer in danger of dying, but still needs medical attention.
Serena smiles to the trio of men in relief. "I was in time to save him. He will need to see a healer to complete the healing process, but he will live. Now if you will excuse me, I have a thieving purple monster to bring to justice. Pleasant day to you all."
"Thanks for your assistance," the Silver Avenger will respond. He appears slightly in awe at what just happened. "Don't wander off too far. We've got lots of questions to ask you and your gold-skinned friend."
Lily:
While Serena is working her minor medical miracle, Lily approaches Major Star. The Major stands just over six feet tall and is quite muscular, but nowhere near as muscular as the nearby Gargoyle. He wears patriotically colored armor.
“I wish I knew what was going on, ma’am,” the Major answers. “That saucer opened up some sort of rift and strange white radiation poured through it. It’s had bizarre affects on everyone who has been hit by it. I don’t know who is responsible for this, but I will find out and they will pay for their actions!”
Turning to Silver Avenger Rackham, Major Star will add, “Return to the saucer wreckage and secure the area until reinforcements arrive. We might find answers to the parties responsible for this disaster there.”
The Silver Avenger doesn’t seem too pleased to be ordered about like this, but doesn’t comment on it. He snaps a salute and a “Yes sir!” and rushes off to carry out his assignment.
IT:
Yu will shrug when asked where you currently are. “Yu in place called New York,” Yu responds. “Yu then summoned again. Yu then here.”
When asked Yu knows who IT is, “Yu does not. IT not like others. IT not afraid of Yu. It friend?”
Yu is very nervous, but will not abandon it. Yu finds the normal human form most hideous to behold. If asked, Yu will tell more about himself. Yes, he is a real demon, but unlike his evil brethren has no desire to harm others or inflict pain in anyone. It was only his natural ability to drain powers away from others that allowed him to even survive in his home.
One day he felt the pull of a summoning spell and found himself in a very strange place. Yu quickly neutralized the spell casting powers of his summoners, preventing them from sending Yu back.
From there YU ran and hid, observing the new world he found himself in from the sewers. The sewers were very much to his liking as they reminded him of his home. Yu has happy and content to observe. He’s still very frightened of people. Then a few moments ago he was drawn to this new place.
After Yu finishes with his story, Silver Avenger Rackham returns. The patriotically clad man cautiously eyes the two very strange beings. “You two aren’t going to cause me any trouble are you?”

Goldstar goes to respond to the man with the jet-black skin, feeling that she had done so before, but never gets the words out of her mouth. He suddenly and mysteriously vanishes.
“I don’t think that happened before…”
Then the frosty man speaks to Goldstar. His comments do seem vaguely familiar as are Goldstar’s response.
"Well, I know everything there is to know about how to use my Stellar powers. You see I have a Photon Blast, an Ion Blast, a Radiation Blast, a Plasma Blast, can create a Solar Flare, and increase my density like a Neutron Star. I can survive in deep space and fly faster than the speed of light. What kind of powers do you have?"

Phaseflux (or Flux as he will decide to call himself) is about to reply to the ice-covered man's compliment; to the effect that since everybody died, vanished or changed his "help" was not sufficent enough.
Just then a strangely familiar woman flies up to the three of them, announces herself as Goldstar and prompty asks if we know who she is! And then if all this seems familiar!
Oddly, it does. And I thought it was just me having a flashback event. Guess I'm not bound for the crazed vet's home just yet.
To Goldstar's question about powers he replies,"Well Miss, I have control over my mass and volume, increasing or decreasing both at need."
The disappearence of the dark man is shocking and not familiar at all and Flux feels his stability slipping.
"What in he- er, what was that?" he blurts out. "I thought all the weird effects were done!"
"We should clear this area of everyone quick; no telling what else might happen around here."
Flux will start looking for any people in nearby stores and try to get an evacuation going. Injured people will get a "lift".

As flustered and wrung-out as she is by her experiences today, it's hard not to be impressed by Major Star. Not only does he look good in the colorful armor, but his deep, masculine voice strikes just the right chord.
"A rift? You mean like from one of those weird science-fiction movies? I wouldn't have believed such a thing was possible; I mean, that's all just made up, right?
"Whatever it was, it seems to have done a number on me. I blacked out for a while, and when I came to, I was... well, I seemed to be running at impossible speed, and nowhere near where I had last remembered being. Moments later, I tripped and skidded along the pavement near that... saucer-thing, but wasn't hurt at all - though it made a mess of my clothes."
She looks down at herself, and then back at the Major. "Oh, forgive my rambling; I'm a little freaked out about all this. Where are my manners?" She holds out her hand for a shake. "Hello. I'm Lily Pak, of the DA's office." She tries to smile, despite being intensely aware of what a mess she appears; hasn't even had time to run a brush through her hair.

Then Flux goes on to suggest that everyone should vacate the immediate area.
“Hang on! I’ll get you both clear as fast as possible!”
With that Goldstar shifts her own density, gaining super strength. The she’ll grab Flux around the waist in one arm and the frosty man with her other arm and fly them both to safety. She’ll fly straight up through the open plaza into the sky above.
Once high enough, she’ll ask, “Where do you think we’ll be safe at?”
Goldstar has no idea where to fly these men too, so she’ll do as anyone suggests. Once they are safe she’ll start flying around grabbing people and taking them back to the designated safe zone. Unless someone corrects her, of course!

"Yes, sir. I will. Goodbye..." Lily's a little surprised that the PRIMUS representative didn't introduce himself, but apparently he has more important concerns at the moment than one uninjured citizen. Still, his suggestion that she visit a doctor is a good one, and Lily files it away mentally.
Turning, she sees Serena waiting and smiles. Now to find my stuff... Scanning the area, Lily attempts to get her bearings. She's shopped here a few times before, so it proves not too difficult.
"I think it was off over that way," she says to Serena, pointing. "Let's take a look." Lily walks in the direction of the last place she remembers seeing her bags, just before that violet abomination tried to suck the life out of her.

Involuntary Flight
Before Flux can say "no" he finds himself grabbed up along with the ice-covered man and borne aloft!

Goldstar is unaffected by touching Frostbite. (She can survive the cold depths of space after all! )
However, the close presence of Frostbite will affect Flux. (It's a 1d6 NND to which he doesn't have any defense, so he's been nickeled and dimed on STUN loss.)
At the moment, Major Star is flying with a man in his arms. He's fast and Goldstar couldn't catch him before. However at this vantage point you can see the saucer wreckage and the Silver Avenger who is there.
