Crucible #26 - "Shooting Star 2"
In response to multiple threats arising, the Vigilant has split along with members of the Young Champions. The Sanctuary Medical Staff has remained back at the castle, along with their bodyguard Sapphire. Rose, Metalla, and the Deacon also remain behind.
Goldstar & Nemesis:
The two young women fly in a southerly direction from Vigilant Castle. Nemesis takes the lead as Goldstar doesn't know where the PRIMUS base is located at and the Young Champions were just there.
The closer they come to the base, the more apparent the scope of the situation becomes. PRIMUS Headquarters used to be a rectangular shaped four story building. Used to be.
What remains is still four stories high, but is not longer rectangular. From a distance, it appears that a bomb went off and obliterated one corner of the building. A huge spherical shaped hole now exists where the corner once was.
It appears that the center of the explosion was the corner of the top floor of the building. The largest missing chunk of the building is the roof and the top floor. There is a little bit more of the third floor and so on down to ground level.
The interior of the building is completely open to the outside in this area. A series of collapses followed with people and furniture plunging out of these new openings. A few fires can be seen inside the building as well. PRIMUS personal can be seen working to put the fires out and rescue those trapped by the explosions and collapse that followed.
Ominously, there is an eerie glow coming from bottom of the radius of the blast. This would correspond to the basement of the PRIMUS HQ, in the corner where the explosion occurred.
Edgar will chime in over the communicators, "The source of radiation that I am detecting is coming from the basement at the bottom of the blast radius. The strength of the radiation is continuing to increase as I speak. I fear that another explosion may be imminent."
Tesla, Lily, & Archangel:
Following Edgar's directions, the trio of flyers soars over the bay and into San Diego in search of the Harpy. Archangel chats as you fly along.
"Allow me to say what a pleasure it is to join you ladies in this hunt", he'll say in a light French accent, his large white wings beating to keep pace. "What do you know about this Harpy? Similar to the mythological creature based on her name?"
Homing in on the location Edgar gave, the trio spots the Harpy flying around the top of a skyscraper. The Harpy is a woman with silvery wings with extremely white skin and hair. As you look on, the Harpy screams at someone on the roof.
Archangel, thanks to his superior sight, will note that, "There's some muscular guy in a suit and sunglasses on the roof that she just yelled at. Never seen him before, but he stood up to her scream pretty well. Wonder what this is all about?"
Serena, Eldritch, Frostbite, Polaris, & White Crane:
Edgar's transport brings this group to the docks area, the same place it took people the last time they used it. The group hasn't moved too far into the city when they spot trouble.
Further down the shore to the south they can see a trip of people moving through the air. One of the three hangs in the air and is seemingly keeping the other two aloft as well.
The one flying under his own power is a large man with long brown hair wearing a two-tone gray body suit. Over the suit he wears what appears to be a bomber jacket and aviation goggles. He also wears a large and bulky belt with what appears to be devices attached to it.
The man in the bomber jacket is generating a pair of energy platforms ahead of him as he flies across the sky. The other two people are standing on this flying platforms and are recognized by Frostbite as being two of the people responsible for the trouble back at Horton Plaza.
The first was the being known as the Denier. He is demonic in appearance, including dusty red skin, barbed tail, bat-like wings, and horns emerging from his skull. Thick hair grows around his lower legs and arms. His only article of clothing is a large brown belt that supports a loincloth.
The other was an almost unearthly beautiful blond haired woman wearing an extremely skimpy outfit that left little to the imagination. She wore shiny red high boots with platform soles and stiletto heels. With this she wore a thin one-piece string swimsuit that just barely covered her more than ample chest. She is known as Devilspawn.
Oddly enough, they are flying away from your position, but appear to be moving towards the San Diego Convention Center further down the shore. According to the news reports, the Convention Center was being used as a makeshift morgue to deal with all the dead from yesterday's incident. They are just a few blocks away, as is the Convention Center.
Blackout, Flux, Gladiator, & Psi-Lad:
Taking a second transport platform, this group heads away from the shore and out into San Diego Bay. The platform turns to the south as it needs to exit the bay before heading north along the shore. The trip allows the group to see, from a fair distance, some of the damage done to the PRIMUS HQ. Smoke can be seen rising from the fires.
By now Goldstar and Nemesis will have reported their findings and notified Flux. Want to continue on to Ocean Beach Point or divert to the PRIMUS Base?

I didn't realize the logistics involved in reaching Ocean Beach Point by way of water transport. You have to exit the bay by sailing to the southwest, swing around Loma Point and then head north. A bit out of the way by water as compared to air. Check out the San Diego Map to see what I mean.
So that's why I didn't take Flux's group any farther then I did, just incase they want to divert to the PRIMUS situation, as Goldstar and Nemesis would have reached it rather quickly.

As the others begin to say what they wish to do follow him or not Frosty will radio Flux(as well as the other teams), "Flux, I just seen two of the people responsible for what happened at Horton Plaza, They seem to have a friend with them, Their headed toward The Convention Center. I'm going to follow them."

Goldstar to the rescue!
Goldstar:
Goldstar flies towards the PRIMUS building looks at it in wonder. "I bet that isn't the way it normally looks," she'll say to Nemesis.
Reaching the disaster site, Goldstar looks around and can't help but notice the glowing at the bottom of the blast radius. Then she hears Edgar's follow up message.
"Whatever that is, I've got to get it out of here before it goes kabluey!"
Goldstar will fly down to the glow and see just what it is. If it is something she can pick up, she'll grab it and fly straight up into space where it can explode without harming anyone.

The Knight joins the others back on the shore. This is her third trip in the strange boat without oarsmen, so it's almost commonplace now. Just another everyday thing in this land of wonders. Now where to begin our search…

Serena will run after Frostbite, her enchanted boots propelling her along faster then would ordinarily possible. Upon reaching then, the Knight will engage the horned demon with Blessed Salvation.
The Knight joins the others back on the shore. This is her third trip in the strange boat without oarsmen, so it's almost commonplace now. Just another everyday thing in this land of wonders. Now where to begin our search…

Got to work out a plan to get flight transport. Slow boats won't cut it in an emergency.

Eldrich Arcane
"Demons? Above ground? In daylight??"
Eldrich can hardly believe it. Demons cannot survive daylight and dwell underground according to myth. Still, this is another realm with different rules and Lady Serena seems sure as does the native cold elemental.
Eldrich will not question it: he has been wrong too many times already. Rising into the air Eldrich prepares to cast the Shield from his amulet and then hurl eldritch bolts at the flying man with long brown hair.
If he controls the trio's flight then if I strike him down the others must fall to the ground as well. This will give the others a chance to reach them in combat

The two young women close in on the PRIMUS base. Goldstar spots the glowing coming from down in the basement and goes to investigate. Edgar confirms that it is the source of the radiation he is detecting.
Nemesis can spot plenty of people who need assistance and goes to render aid. The Young Champion carries people to safety and plucks them out from underneath rubble.
Reaching the basement, Goldstar lands close to the glowing. She can make out that it is Major Star that is laying there. His battle armor has been ripped apart and very little of it remains. His entire body is glowing, surging with energy.
"Can't hold it back any more…", the Major mumbles as Goldstar approaches. "Can't fight… Going critical again…"
Reaching down, Goldstar picks up Major Star and cradles him in her arms. Next she takes off straight up into the sky. After a few seconds all that can be seen is a glow spot in the sky until that too winks out.
Flux, Blackout, Gladiator, & Psi-Lad:

Back on the mainland, Frostbite spots Devilspawn and the Denier being carried by another super towards the San Diego Convention center. He then begins to skate quickly towards the criminals. Serena follows closely behind, propelled to higher speeds thanks to her enchanted boots.
Eldritch rises into the air and prepares to cast spells. He falls behind the others, however.
Polaris runs after Frostbite and Serena, covering the distance in large bounds. Small arcs of electricity can been seen under his feet as the young man runs along. The White Crane follows, but at more ordinary speeds.
Eldritch casts his Shield spell and continues to bring up the rear.
Far up ahead, the trio has reached the convention center and land before it. The Denier rips the front doors open and flings then away. He and Devilspawn then enter and are lost from sight. The unknown man continues to hover, his feet not touching the ground. He floats after the demonic pair and also lost from sight.

"That is the minimum safe distance… Correction, sir, the radiation source is now moving, traveling straight up. The ground area is now safe to enter. The radiation source has left Earth's atmosphere and… It's gone, sir. It accelerated to light speed is now off my sensors."Edgar, can you give me an idea of the radiation strength over there? "If you will permit, I can move us there faster with my magic. The Folded Step spell will encompass two."
Whether or not she agrees Eldrich will Teleport towards the building entrance that the demons tore open ready to fight.

Three on Two
Lily:
Once Tesla begins to rise into the air, Lily transforms once again into a large eagle and leaps skyward to follow along. I don't think anyone is likely to recognise me like this, do you?" she says to Tesla. To her surprise, Archangel quickly joins them. The youngster is a little too smooth - or tries to be - but seems quite harmless. Still, Lily keeps her relationship with the boy professional.
"I know nothing of any Harpy, mythological or otherwise. Never really studied mythology, and I'm new to the whole metahuman experience as well."
They fly closer, finding the winged woman screaming at a brightly-garbed man. One might only assume that he is a metahuman as well. Archangel and Tesla propose a very aggressive approach to dealing with the situation. Unfortunately, Lily is uncomfortable with charging off half-cocked like that.
"Excuse me, but just attacking them outright could get us thrown in jail. We need to witness some kind of violation of the law before we can even consider attempting a citizen's arrest of anyone. Suspicion isn't enough - and it certainly isn't against the law simply to be a metahuman.
"Have you actually seen any laws broken? Was the man injured or the building damaged?" Attempting to answer her own question, Lily ratchets up her vision and hearing, trying to get a clear idea of what is going on with the two. "If not, I recommend we at least attempt to speak with them first."

Frosty begins to skate after the demonic pair and their new friend all the while wondering What they could want with or within the convention center. Recalling the news from the previous day and recent reports he recalls that it is being used as a large morgue for the countless victims that they have caused.
As he skates the distance he comes to the realization that Devilspawn was the one who began a ritual to bring or summon something to Horton Plaza(due to his high vantage point he saw her at the center or the ritual circle). Maybe it is possible they are looking for something some poor soul possessed or,however unlikely, If she has the power to summon something/someone maybe she could reanimate the dead..... Ugh this is starting to to remind him of the story of Frankenstien.
Reaching the entry point where Denier was so kind to remove the doors he will move to the side of the door and look in. Frosty begins to skate after the demonic pair and their new friend all the while wondering What they could want with or within the convention center. Recalling the news from the previous day and recent reports he recalls that it is being used as a large morgue for the countless victims that they have caused.
As he skates the distance he comes to the realization that Devilspawn was the one who began a ritual to bring or summon something to Horton Plaza(due to his high vantage point he saw her at the center or the ritual circle). Maybe it is possible they are looking for something some poor soul possessed or,however unlikely, If she has the power to summon something/someone maybe she could reanimate the dead..... Ugh this is starting to to remind him of the story of Frankenstien.
Reaching the entry point where Denier was so kind to remove the doors he will move to the side of the door and look in. Nemesis:
Jen goes to render aid while Goldstar gets to play with the radioactive man. As she's pulling people out of the rubble and flying them to safety, Nemesis tries to keep an eye on her golden companion. She can't help but notice as Goldstar goes flying straight up in to the sky carrying something glowing in her arms. Jen watches as the light gets smaller and smaller in the sky until it is gone completely.
A few moments pass and no sign of Goldstar. "I hope she remembers to come back," Jen thinks to herself.

As always, the Gladiator makes no show of outward emotion as our destination is suddenly changed from one place to another.
"Very well," the large man will simply say. After a pause, he'll turn to Psi-Lad and add, "Your talent for locating minds will be need to help find those trapped in the wreckage of the building. Prepare yourself."
Once at the PRIMUS Base, Gladiator will assist as needed. He will help unbury others, moving heavy rubble aside with great ease.

The winged Young Champion is a bit startled when Lily turns into an eagle at first. "We'll that is a very handy ability. Very handy indeed."
Archangel will then hover and gesture for Lily to proceed on ahead to talk to the supers.
Looking ahead, it is clear that Harpy is attacking the man in the suit on the roof. The man himself is extremely tall, nearly seven foot tall with extremely broad shoulders. He is a black man with short cropped black hair. Oddly enough he is wearing a white tuxedo. As Lily watches, the man rips up a portion of the roof and throws it at Harpy! The winged woman evades the crude missile.

"Yes sir," Psi-Lad responds. He begins to do he mental exercises that Nightengale showed him on clearing his mind and focusing on his psionic abilities. People on illegial drugs don't feel much pain when hit with batons or bullets and yet we want them to stop fighting too. Search & Rescue
Flux
Time to do the rubble search and rescue drill again. Sadly, I now have experience in this work.
Flux will start looking immediately for any PRIMUS personnel with rank to co-ordinate with for rescue work and medical people for triage and treatment. If no one seems to be organized along those lines he will single out an uninjured person for questions like ( "who do you see with medical training?" ) or ( "where is the ranking officer's command position?")
After achieving that or failing to, Flux will expand to full size and defuse weight to quickly search the structure on several floors at once. If Psi-Lad has guidence \ directions to offer Flux will take his cue from him.
Hope the others are doing alright.

Another who is disturbed by magic use, thinks Arcane. How odd it is. They possess talents I cannot explain to myself yet common magic surprises them.
Eldrich steps close to White Crane, the protective Shield moving out of the way, and makes a request.
"Grasp hold and maintain contact with me as we move, else you shall be left behind."
Eldrich casts the extended version of the Folded Step spell to increase the travel range aiming to reach the shattered door and be just to the left of it.

Blackout remains quiet as we travel over the water in what appears to be a long trip. He listens to the various chatter between the groups but doesn't have anything to offer at the time.
Once the decision is made to go to the Primus base, Blackout gets ready for search and rescue detail. Once there, he focuses his heightened senses to seek out anyone in dire need of help and then relays the information so a coordinated rescue can be put into effect. Otherwise he will help anyone that doesn't need such drastic measures to get clear and reach aid.

Lily will wing forward to land on the roof. 5-10 feet above the roof's surface, she will shift form to that of a large male gorilla, using that form's natural agility to avoid damage from the drop.
"What's going on here?" she calls out in a loud voice. "Who started this? Why are you fighting?" If she can get them talking, maybe they won't continue damaging the surroundings. As she talks, she'll try to boost her strength and speed as she has done before.

Mad - Essentially, buy the gorilla form however you normally would. If there are any leftover points in Lily's pool, split them between strength and speed (plus dex? or however you normally buy her super-speed).
