The adventurers move out in the dead of night. The scouts set off and into Twin Forks. Sherra crosses the river outside of town and takes a circular route around Lothar's house. The black clad woman takes a position across the river from Lothar's house.
Kylie glides in from the east, keeping off the road and using the shadows to her advantage. With ease she slides through the night and takes a position on the riverside of the house labeled A. A few dozen yards behind her, Ivy slowly makes her way along trying to keep quiet.
On the outskirts of town, Lilia slips down from Laucian's horse. She casts her Alter Self spell causing gossamer wings to sprout from her back. Beating her newly gained wings, Lilia rises into the air and glides further into town. Keeping low, the elf maiden silently lands on the roof of house A. Taking a concealed position, Lilia draws her bow and stands ready.
Laucian moves along the side of the road and reaches a position near the smithy. He uses the shadows and the tress to conceal himself.
Up ahead several bandits stand guard around Lothar's house. Several torches and small fire serve to illuminate the area. They don't seem particular observant at this late night hour.
Further to the east on the road, Validar astride Havok and Po stand ready to charge into town. To the south the remainder of the adventurers also wait for the attack to begin. Chareos, Grondar, Corley, and Saladin wait for the signal to attack.
This is all observed by Sherwood who floats high overhead in the form of an eagle. Once everyone is in position, Sherwood mentally changes his form into that of a harpy. Then he casts Pyrotechnics on one of the fires below.
Suddenly, the flames leap high into the sky and exploded in a dazzling display of flashing multicolored lights! Anyone on the ground can't help but look up and notice the impressive display.
At the sound of the signal, the adventures move into action. Lord Validar spurs his horse on, followed by Po. Grondar casts Silence of Lord Corley.
Kylie casts Sleep towards the bandits guarding the boat. She can only see two of the three men suspected to be in the area. Her magic succeeds and both guards drop to the ground.
Lilia fires on the guard directly before her. The bandit is at point blank range and is dropped by two shafts. Seeing this, Laucian changes targets and takes down the guard in front of Lothar's house.
Sherra emerges from the cold waters of the Grayhare River behind house B. (Lothar's house concealed him from Kylie.) Drawing her dagger, she thrusts it into the bandits back and ends his life.
Grondar casts Prayer on his group. Lord Corley spurs Charger on and begins to ride into town. Saladin follows behind him. Chareos casts Mirror Image on himself and now there are five other Chareos' present.
Sherra makes her way down the river towards Lothar's barge. She leaps on board and seeks a place to conceal herself. Ivy breaks into a sprint and makes her way to the barge with the intent of casting Wyvern Watch to ensnare Lothar.
Kylie darts behind Lothar's house and takes a position behind house B. She avoids tripping over the bandit that Sherra laid out.
Laucian dashes from the smithy to the location of Lothar's horses. He shoulders his bow as he runs. Reaching the horses, Laucian shoos them off and leads them in an easterly direction down the Grayhare River removing them from the area.
The elfin ranger's actions are noted by the guard on the other side of the Smithy. The guard cries out and rushes after Laucian.
Lilia notes this action and she takes aim on the unsuspecting target. She prepares to fire, but eases up as Validar charges onto the scene. Drawing his longsword, Validar takes the guard out as he rides past.
Lord Corley charges in from the south, riding hard in total silence. The bandit on guard between the Inn and the supply depot moves towards the road wondering what is going on. Corley smacks the man with his horseman's mace as he passes, sending the bandit sprawling to the ground.
Behind Corley Saladin follows. Spying another bandit guard coming out towards the road, Saladin changes course and runs the man over with his horse.
A bit further down the road, two more bandits move towards the road. Chareos slows his approach and casts Flaming Sphere. A fiery globe springs into existence. At Chareos' direction, the Flaming Sphere rolls toward the bandit by the supply depot and away from the warehouse.
Back down the road, Grondar slowly rides on trying to cast Aid at the same time. A sudden and unexpected motion of the mount disrupts the spell and causes it to fizzle.
Kylie notices movement behind her. Turning around, she sees the back door to Lothar's house fly open and a darkly garbed man goes rushing out into the night.
Lilia spots the movement and fires an arrow in that direction but misses the fast moving target. Ivy reaches to dock and prepares to cast her Wyvern Watch spell. Lothar barrels into the unsuspecting priestess sending her sprawling into the Grayhare River with a loud splash.
Lothar then pauses just for a moment. Noticing the wet footprints on the dock, he suddenly runs away from the barge. He leaps off the dock and into the Grayhare River. Much to everyone's surprise, Lothar doesn't sink into the water. Instead, he lands on the river as if it was dry land. The bandit leader then begins to run across the rover in a southern-easterly direction.
The door to the Inn flies open and several men come rushing out. One is a warrior decked out in full plate comes rushing out, running far faster then should normally be possible. Following behind him is a man in robes and several more guards in leather armor.
The man in the full plate armor draws his longsword and holds it before him. Unexpectedly, it bursts into fire! But this is unlike any fire any of you have ever seen before. The flames burn black in color!

GM Notes:
My apologies for being so late with this post. I ended up being under the weather most of the weekend and spent most of Sunday in bed.
Another factor was that when I was rereading and writing down all the options of this large plan, I came across an inconsistency. Sherra and Ivy were both originally planning to cross the river and circle around to come in from the west. Originally they were going to use a boat to cross the river, but Sherra shot that idea down. She could just swim across, but there wasn't a way from Ivy to cross apart from swimming herself.
I sent an Email to Validar for a clarification on this point. His original plan was to allow Sherra come up with an alternative. However, Sherra's player lost his Internet access in the wake of Isabel's passage. So, Val sent me some options and asked me to decide which method Ivy would take.
Shortly after that, Val called me after speaking to Sherra's player on the phone. Sherra's suggestion was to simply send Ivy in behind Kylie. Validar agreed and that's why that change was made in the post.
I updated the Twin Forks map to take the post into consideration. Kylie, Sherra, and Laucian can still act in the current round. Ivy is floundering in the river.
Grondar, trying to cast spells on a moving horse makes you subject to the spell being disrupted by sudden movements. In the cast of the Aid spell, it was ruined by this. I made a DEX check to see if you pulled it off as opposed to simply having it fail out of hand. Blew the roll. It also slowed your movement down considerably putting you way behind everyone else.
I tried to take everyone's ideas into account in the combat and not step too far beyond what was posted. The above covered most of three rounds.
No one has taken any damage yet.
Now what?

And so it begins!
VALIDAR -
As Validar and Po wait for the attack to be signaled, Validar sees the young man fidget nervously. "Only do your best and fight with honor and determination to the best of your skill," he says, barely above a whisper. Validar will then close his helm's visor carefully and pull his enchanted sword from its scabbard and tighten his grip on Havok's reins.
The sudden explosion of fiery that leaps into the sky draws the noble warrior's attention for a moment. He would have expected the scouts to take a bit more time to complete their tasks and so this early signal must mean that there has been a problem!
With a quick urging to his noble mount, Validar propels himself forward and towards his target at a full gallop before the explosions in the sky have even dissipated.
As he rides hard towards Lothar's dwelling, Validar turns to see Po trailing behin him, but still riding hard as well. Coming onto the scene, Validar can see a few of the guards laid out on the ground from bowfire and Laucian leading the horses away, being trailed by a bandit. While not wishing to veer from his intented course, the enemy is crossing his path at just the right moment and Validar barely has to adjust his speed to slash the man down as he rides past.
Surveying the area, Validar does not see Lothar exiting to the front of the house and the area seems to be under control. As expected, Corley and the others are yet to be seen coming in from the north, however, Validar can hear the roaring flame of Chareos spell and knows they should not be long in converging here. As he rides past the building that Lilia is stationed on, Validar notices the figures exiting from the Inn.
His eyes widen for a second as he sees the Blackflame sword. "This may complicate things," Validar says to himself, but he manages to not dwell on the thought. Lothar is the primary target and even though Corley may be in over his head for a moment, Validar will break his horse between A and Lothar's house and head to the docks.
There he sees the current circumstances.
-------------------------
Since others have actions happening on the docks before he gets there, I will post more later.
Also, I think MAD meant that Lothar is running in a southWESTerly direction.
Kylie, Laucian and Sherra: The show is still in your hands!

Conquer or Die!
Fizzle and Pop
Kylie:
Slipping from shadow to shadow like a diminutive wraith, Kylie moves into position behind building 'A'. Periodically she checks on Ivy, following well behind, to ensure that she's doing alright.
Pausing to let everyone get into position, the half-elven woman is startled when Sherwood gives the signal to attack much earlier than the plan called for. Cursing to herself, she hurriedly casts her sleep on the two guards in view, gaining some small satisfaction that at least the spell performed as expected.
With no time to lose, Kylie dashes behind Lothar's house towards her appointed position behind building 'B'. Unfortunately, with the aborted plans, she now has no time to climb to the roof. As she runs, she notes Sherra moving the other direction toward the dock and the boat. She can hear Ivy moving behind her toward the dock as well, intent on getting her spell cast. Fortunately, she notes the body of the dead bandit just in time to avoid stumbling.
A sound behind her catches Kylie's attention, causing her to spin around. She can only watch in horror as the primary target of the raid sprints for freedom, knocking Ivy into the river in the process. It quickly occurs to her that she's the best remaining hope of capturing Lothar, who is sprinting across the river - obviously with some kind of magical aid. She'll leave it to Sherra to prevent Ivy from drowning.
Gathering her wits, she estimates the distance to Lothar. If he's within range, she'll cast her Web on him. If the spell fails or the distance is to great, she'll try to bring him down with her bow. Aiming for the legs should allow her to bring him down without killing him. If she can at least slow him down, maybe Sherra can pull Ivy from the water in time to catch him with a Hold Person.

I have no idea how called shots work in this game, but Kylie will at least try. If it proves unmanagable, she'll hit Lothar wherever she can.
My character sheet says the range for Web is only 5 yards/level, which doesn't seem right. I'll have to check it at home tonight.[/b]

Grondar:
Noting the signal from Sherwood, Grondar goes right to work. He casts the Silence on Corley and the Prayer on them all in rapid succession, both appearing to work fine. Corley immediately drives his horse to a gallup, leaving the rest far in his wake, with Saladin doing his best to keep up. Meanwhile, there are suddenly 6 of Chareos where there were previously but the one, who then ride off together behind Saladin.
Not wanting to be left totally behind, Grondar spurs StoneGrinder onward, attempting to utilize more of Berronar's blessings upon himself. Unfortunately, a jolt from his mount causes Grondar to flub the casting and the spell dies. No! Grondar swears frustratedly in dwarven; it seems there is much he still has to about riding.
Abandoning the use of any more spells for the moment, Grondar rides hard after his comrades. Seeing the bandits come out into the road toward Chareos, Grondar slows his mount and begins firing his crossbow at the one near the warehouse. If this proves fruitless, he'll try to ride the man down or level him with his mace.
Once the bandit is taken care of, Grondar will continue on as best he can, firing his crossbow at any bandits he spots. If he finds a group together, he'll stop and dismount, then cast Dictate with the order, "Drop your weapons and lie down on your stomachs with your arms out wide!".

Corley
Corley
Finally, the time for planning has ended and Lord Corley is most ready to do battle! Charger prances around with nervous energy; almost a reflection of his rider.
At last the signal is given! Its all Corley can do to hold back from taking off at that point. However, he manages to bite back on his enthusiasm and stay point long enough to cast his enchantments.
First comes the Silence. Corley has never experienced this magic before and finds it very odd when everything around him goes deadly silent. He can see Grondar invoking his second spell and Chareos using his own magic, but cannot hear their words. The wind blows through the trees but all remains silent to Lord Corley.
Believing the dwarven priest to have finished his magic, Corley then spurs Charger onward and into battle! Riding hard, Corley grips the reins with his left hand and holds his horseman's mace in the other.
He can feel Charger running hard beneath him, the muscles flexing, the legs moving rapidly. He can feel the impact of ground and hoof, but it all happens without a sound. Most peculiar!
Spying a guard coming to intercept him, Lord Corley smites him down with his mace before continuing onward. Having dealt with the miscreant, Lord Corley continues onward towards the Inn.
Rounding the corner, Corley sees a small band of men. The man in field plate with the strangely burning sword is the most dangerous appearing of the lot. Logically, he should be Corley's first target, but no. He must take out the mage before he can invoke any baneful enchantments!
Riding towards the men, Charge will plow thought the thugs to get Corley close to the mage. Once close enough, Corley will drop off the horse and attempt to land on the mage himself! Should the robed man still be functioning after that, Corley will simply pummel him with his gauntleted fists.
Once attacked by the others, Corley will draw his two-handed sword and go to the work. At all times he will attempt to stay near the mage to prevent his spell casting.
"Then I welcome your enchantment, noble dwarf!"Lord Corley's comment leaves Grondar laughing. "No, no, my friend. Nothing like that. It would just extend some small measure of Berronar's protective embrace to you in the battle. I don't believe it has any visible effect."

Sherwood
Sherwood:
Last Time:
Present:
Sherwood glides over Twin Forks in the form of a giant eagle. The birds' superior eyesight helps him see just a little bit better. He watches as the scouts move into position. Once they are, Sherwood changes form once more and becomes a harpy. It's not the most flattering form, but it had hands and a mouth to cast enchantments, and wings to remain aloft.
Casting Pyrotechnics on a previously selected fire, Sherwood wings away from the fireworks and back to a position over the river to the west of Inn. He watches with pride as Kylie drops two of the guards with her Sleep spell. Sherra emerges from the river and removes another guard. The elves work their magic with their bows, removing the last of the guards around Lothar's house.
Further away, Validar's group and Corley's groups are sent into motion. Both should arrive at Lothar's house around the same time. However, Ivy seems to be behind schedule in her actions.
A few minutes later, Lothar slips out of the back of his house. In his flight he plows over Ivy, sending the priestess into the cold waters of the Grayhare River. Sherwood watches as Lothar continues forward, running across the waters!
"Ring of Water Walking", Sherwood suspects. "A far easier way to get around town. I wonder what other surprises he has to offer?"
Just as Sherwood is beginning to turn in his flight, he notes activity from the Inn. A large man in field plate comes issuing forth. "Must be hasted, judging on how fast he is moving", Sherwood surmises. The enemy mage a few more bandits join them.
Much to Sherwood's shock, the man in the field plate, Artur probably, draws his sword and blackflames dance across the blade! "The Cult of Blackflame!?", Sherwood cries out in astonishment. "In this day and age? They were destroyed decades ago!"
Torn between what to do, and fully realizing the danger that sword presents, Sherwood pauses for just an instant. Ultimately, there is no choice Sherwood flies after Lothar. As he does so he calls out, "Don't let the sword touch you! Blackflame is fatal to the touch!"
Sherwood then flies after Lothar with the intent of getting ahead of him. This will allow those with ranged attacks to get a shot at Lothar without Sherwood getting in the way. Sherwood will try to set up a web between two houses that Lothar seems to be running towards. If Tymora is with me, he'll run right into them and defeat himself. If not, it will reduce the number of flight options he has.
If he slows down enough, Sherwood will glide in and try to tackle Lothar while still in harpy form. Should he succeed, Sherwood will change into a python and attempt to hold the criminal until help can arrive.
OOC:
As most of you may be aware of by now, Sherwood sent up the fireworks at the wrong time. Or so I though at first. However, while preparing to write this post I did catch something that actually does support Sherwood's actions:
Last Time:
"There are other options, but none of which I have in memory. Dancing Lights or a Phantasmal Force, or even a Cantrip could have fit the bill here. Unfortunately, of the spells I have in memory, Pyrotechnics is the best to serve this purpose."Validar - "Very well. As I said, I may have some tactical knowledge of spell use and have received some training in such, but I am certainly no mage. There is much I have to learn just about the effects and uses of the more basic spells. Do you have a suggestion for another option for signaling or do we simply need to be very observant to the beginnings of the battle? Of course, it is all a moot point if Kylie, Sherra and Ivy are as successful as we expect."
So it seems that using the Fireworks to send the scouts into motion was in Sherwood's mind from the beginning and no one ever corrected him! It seems that not everyone was on the same page to begin with. Live and learn.Sherwood - "When I cause the fireworks in the sky, that will be the signal to act. It should divert the guards attention enough to allow other magicks to be invoked and those with stealth to reach their desired targets."
Validar - "Once that happens, then it is important that we do not hesitate. Everyone's actions are based upon and support others actions. At least in the beginning. Once the combat heats up, we have to act as the tide takes us."

Lilia:
Previously on New Frontiers:
"Lord Validar," the elf maiden will begin in her typical stoic tone, "I have been trained for all forms of battle, be a small engagement or a full fledge conflict with hundreds of humanoids. My spells are selected for optimum combat, defensive, and general application efficiency. Without knowledge of which spells I have in my spellbook, it is rather presumptuous to dictate to me which magicks I should commit to memory."
"I have memorized those second level combat spells of which I am proficient. Flaming Sphere is a spell that I just learned, but have yet to actually cast. I find the idea of testing a brand new spell in the heat of battle to be a foolish undertaking. Alas, I may find myself doing that exact same thing with Melf's Minute Meteors since it is the only third level spell I am aware of. In this particular circumstance, I simply do not have another option."
"As young Kylie discovered for us, there is a great amount of oil within the warehouse and it does present a great fire hazard. Without knowing what sort of spells the enemy spellcaster has access to, it does seem most prudent in this situation to carry a spell that can quench fires. If I sacrificed anything to commit Pyrotechnics to memory, it was a defensive spell, not an offensive one. The Stoneskin granted me by Sherwood Elf-Friend more then offsets the need for a defensive spell."
But hold on, the worst is yet to come!
The time to move out has come. Calmly Lilia makes one last check of her weapons and moves up to Laucian.
Once we reach the outskirts of the village, Lilia releases her grip on Laucian and slides down off of his steed. "My Tymora and Ehlonna watch over you", she responds back in Elvish.
Stepping back behind a house, Lilia invokes her Alter Self spell, causing gossamer wings to emerge from her back. Gently beating her new appendages, Lilia rises into the air. The airborne elf maiden keeps low to avoid drawing attention to herself. She passes over several houses before settling in on the roof of her designated target, noting Kylie and Ivy's progress as she glides along. Lilia lands on the far side away from Lothar's house as quietly as possible. Then she crosses the roof towards the other side.
Looking below, Lila can see several of the guards on duty down below. "Lazy humans", Lilia thinks to herself in disgust. No elf from the Grunalf Clan would ever take guard duty so lackadaisically. Seeing how lax and unprepared the bandits are makes Lilia's confidence soar. Taking her bow in hand, Lilia nocks an arrow and stands ready to fire.
The signal comes and the battle plan springs into action. Lilia fires her first arrow and reaches for a second just as the arrow pierces the bandit. One more shot puts him down.
While drawing another arrow, Lilia scans the battlefield. Kylie's Sleep has claimed the guards near the boat while Laucian's bow takes down the other bandit in Lilia's sight. That task complete, Laucian moves in on the horses. The way is clear, so there is no need to employ a Web spell at this point.
Check that, Lilia notes movement off to her right. A guard from down by the warehouse is rushing to engage her clansman! Calmly Lilia takes aim and prepares to fire. She eases up as she senses riders approaching. Glancing further to her right, Lilia spies Lord Validar riding in. His blade is drawn and he sees the bandit.
Lilia looks away in an attempt to acquire another target. She doesn't see the bandit fall, but can plainly hear the telltale slicing sound followed by the thud of death.
Then she spots motion from behind Lothar's house. The Elf Maidens training takes over and she fires at the target, but just misses. Uttering a minor curse to Beshaba under her breath, Lilia draws another arrow. At the same time she takes flight once more. She wishes to keep Lothar in plain sight at all times.
Lilia rises above and over the tree and from that vantage point she'll fire her next shaft at Lothar. She aims for the man's chest, but consciously avoids aiming for his heart. Her intent is to wound, but not fatally. Since Lilia was trained to fire her bow on horseback, then perhaps firing a bow while in flight won't be as difficult. The Elf Maiden makes a mental note to practice that very thing in the future.
After firing her arrow, Lilia stores her bow and will next rely on magic. She will maintain a position above and behind Lothar allowing her comrades clean shots at the fleeing bandit.
Lilia's sharp elfin sight picks up Sherwood as he flies past in harpy form. It momentarily startles Lilia but she recovers quickly. At her next opportunity to attack, Lilia will pump a Magic Missile into the fleeing bandit. She reasons that her three enchanted missiles should not be fatal.
Lilia notes as Sherwood flies off ahead and divines his plan to move head of Lothar, while Lilia pursues from behind. Lilia will do her best to herd Lothar in the direction that Sherwood flew off in.
Should Sherwood get his Web spell off and if Lothar is stuck, Lilia will land and cover the man with her bow. If Lothar stops short, Lilia will attempt to cast her own Web and either cover the criminal or sandwich him between the two.
Previously on New Frontiers:
A pleased look comes to Lilia's chiseled elfin features. "You are most kind, clansman."When Lilia Comes to him to ask if she could ride with him Laucian will reply, "If you wish it, than so it shall be."
"My fellow clansman has received training similar to my own. He will succeed in his task. Of this I have confidence.""Considering the weather, your idea of flight is a fine one." Laucian will think a moment before he speaks. "You will have not misplaced your trust in me, my friends. The horses will be taken care of, but if I do fail, and I hope that I don't. It is comforting to know that it is in good hands."
Lilia will raise a curious eyebrow at Lord Validar's statements. Sherwood Elf-Friend beats her to the punch on the subject of the merits of the Pyrotechnics."Lilia, we seem to have a large number of people with Pyrotechnics spells. Perhaps something else for this combat would be more effective. Unless we can somehow use the different spells as different signals. Are the effects different based on the caster? If not then three Pyro spells are too many for the group when we could use other combat spells."
"Also, I am sure everyone realizes this, but it is important so cannot be stressed enough. Save your magic missiles for important targets only, especially spellcasters. Chareos' Flaming sphere could be very effective in clearing a path through the bandits to give the Main Group a path toward the Inn."
"Forgive me if I seem to be telling everyone what to do, but I cannot assume that each of you has had combat training involving large quantities of troops. Tactics are different than when dealing with smaller groups. And as you can see I am somewhat proficient in the use of spells in combat, regardless of whether I appreciate their use on my person. I believe that all weapons at hand should be used."
"Lord Validar," the elf maiden will begin in her typical stoic tone, "I have been trained for all forms of battle, be a small engagement or a full fledge conflict with hundreds of humanoids. My spells are selected for optimum combat, defensive, and general application efficiency. The time to move out has come. Calmly Lilia makes one last check of her weapons and moves up to Laucian.
Lilia will easily pull herself up with Laucian's assistance. While not muscular in appearance, Lilia is not weak either. She easily settles in behind Laucian and without a thought wraps her arms round his chest for support. He will offer his hand to Lilia when she comes to mount his horse as well. When they stop so she may dismount he will speak in elvish "Good luck clansmen."
Once we reach the outskirts of the village, Lilia releases her grip on Laucian and slides down off of his steed. "My Tymora and Ehlonna watch over you", she responds back in Elvish.

VALIDAR -
First things first:
OOC:
As most of you may be aware of by now, Sherwood sent up the fireworks at the wrong time. Or so I thought at first. However, while preparing to write this post I did catch something that actually does support Sherwood's actions:
Quote:

Validar - "Once that happens, then it is important that we do not hesitate. Everyone's actions are based upon and support others actions. At least in the beginning. Once the combat heats up, we have to act as the tide takes us."
So it seems that using the Fireworks to send the scouts into motion was in Sherwood's mind from the beginning and no one ever corrected him! It seems that not everyone was on the same page to begin with. Live and learn.
Again we have a question of semantics, since the scouts' initial actions (Stage 1) would be considered by me to be the prepatory stage and the actual attack (Stage 2) would be the point where the arrows were to be fired and the two groups ride into town. After that point, Magicks were still to be invoked (Grondar, Lilia, Chareos) and the scouts did have more movement (Laucian and Kylie), but obviously there was thinking of two entirely different things.
All that said, at this point it is all entirely irrelevant to the current situation. We deal with what happened and continue on. In the future, we should be even clearer especially for very important actions.

Validar will wait patiently while Lilia makes her explanation. "Please do not be so defensive, Lilia of Clan Grunalf. I was not being presumptuous nor dictating. It was a simple question, based on the admittedly limited knowledge of this spell Pyrotechnics. I was asking you because you had already made it clear that you did have combat knowledge from our previous conversation. And having a few other Elven comrades, I know that Elves are particularly light sleepers. If anyone would have had the time to alter a spell it would have be you, is that not correct?"
"My impression was that this was a questionable situation. You may be optimized yourself, but as a group are we optimized? An entire group may each be effective with arrows and carry nothing but. Each individual may have a perfect collection of arrow shafts, including magick ones. Then if hand to hand combat were to occur, that group would be in trouble. All I am saying is that none of the mages seemed to even suggest that as a group they had consulted each other and were prepared to supplement and support the tactics being used. If that WAS done, then perhaps the rest of us should have been at least made aware. Then there would be no need for questions. Nor would there have been had one of our mages indicated to the non-spellcasters that there was some method for extinguishing fires should they arise. That is important information that should have been shared."
"This mission is of particular importance to me. While I do not discount that each of you will do your very best to complete your obligations, I am here for very personal reasons. I will not apologize for trying to make certain that every possibility goes as best as it can and I will not make assumptions. As we learn more about each other, trust will evolve."
"However, this situation makes it very clear that we need to have a more structured organization for this group if we are to adventure beyond Twin Forks. When this battle is ended there will be much to discuss. Lilia, I think you would be the natural organizer of the spellcasters and will suggest such when the comes."
Back to the action:
As Validar rounds Lothar's house, he sees Lilia take to the air overhead firing her bow. Across the river there is a commotion and whether Validar can see where Lothar is or not, he can definitely see that he is not at the docks. Validar lets out a slight curse, but then Sherwood can be heard offering his warning and heads across the river as well.
"The others can take care of Lothar!", Validar will yell to Po, hoping that he hears him or at least follows the noble warrior. They will head over to the Inn to help Corley and look to see what is going on, specifically regarding the Blackflame holder.

Lilia
Lilia:
"Yes, some elves can go with less sleep than others. However, the hour grows too late for me to successfully change my memorized spells. Such is the limitations that Mystra imposes on those who make use of her gifts."
"I was not being defensive Lord Validar," Lilia continues in her neutral tone. "But yes, I do find it presumptuous for someone untrained my area of expertise to question my spell selection. It would be akin to me trying to give you pointers in hand-to-hand combat. Foolish in the extreme. As a mage I must prepare my spell lists to deal with threats both known and unknown. Pyrotechnics is a valued spell as it can be used for multiple uses ranging as a signal to quenching fires to obscuring an area with smoke. It is a multi-purpose spell. Humanoids have frequently set fire to our home land forest so carrying Pyrotechnics is always prudent."Validar will wait patiently while Lilia makes her explanation. "Please do not be so defensive, Lilia of Clan Grunalf. I was not being presumptuous or dictating. It was a simple question, based on the admittedly limited knowledge of this spell Pyrotechnics. I was asking you because you had already made it clear that you did have combat knowledge from our previous conversation. "Yes, some elves can go with less sleep than others. However, the hour grows too late for me to successfully change my memorized spells. Such is the limitations that Mystra imposes on those who make use of her gifts."
"Obviously, I can not speak for the other practioners of the art but only for myself. Among my people the selection of spells is a highly personal thing. The spells one selects is a reflection of ones personality and individuality. Admittedly, this is my first experience working with a group with mixed races, so perhaps my views do not mesh with yours. Among my clan, mages are trained to know what is expected of them and which spells have the most value. There is no need for discussion because we already know what is required of us. We elves value our individuality over all else, save the defense of our homeland.""My impression was that this was a questionable situation. You may be optimized yourself, but as a group are we optimized? An entire group may each be effective with arrows and carry nothing but. Each individual may have a perfect collection of arrow shafts, including magick ones. Then if hand-to-hand combat were to occur, that group would be in trouble. Nor would there have been had one of our mages indicated to the non-spellcasters that there was some method for extinguishing fires should they arise. That is important information that should have been shared."
"Indeed, Lord Validar. It has, shall we say, been an eye opening experience thus far. We will complete this mission. Of that I am certain.""This mission is of particular importance to me. While I do not discount that each of you will do your very best to complete your obligations, I am here for very personal reasons. I will not apologize for trying to make certain that every possibility goes as best as it can and I will not make assumptions. As we learn more about each other, trust will evolve."
Lilia understands what Validar is suggestion and can agree to a point. However, her elven desire for individuality chafes at such restraints. "We shall see, Lord Validar. We shall see.""However, this situation makes it very clear that we need to have a more structured organization for this group if we are to adventure beyond Twin Forks. When this battle is ended there will be much to discuss. Lilia, I think you would be the natural organizer of the spellcasters and will suggest such when the comes."
Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!
Ivy the drowned rat
Ivy:
Ivy mostly listens as the battle plans are being discussed. The priestess is unfamiliar with this type of operation. Such a wide scale plan with plenty of opportunity for things to go wrong.
When Sherra decides against using a boat to cross the river, Ivy will voice her concerns for swimming across the river. "While I have been taught to swim, I would question my ability to do so and remain quiet. Perhaps it would be best for Sherra to take the water route alone while I follow Kylie in from the other side?"
Everyone seems to be in agreement and that wraps up Ivy's involvement with the planning. After the meeting Sherra approaches me. She gives me a few pointers on how to move about stealthfully.
"Thank you for your assistance, Sherra," Ivy gratefully states at the conclusion of her lessons. "Hopefully I will make my instructor proud."
Finally the time to move out comes. Ivy follows Kylie at a discrete distance so as to not slow down or otherwise hinder the half-elf. The priestess does her best to try to move silently, but can't help but make noise. Leaves crunch under her feet.
Once Kylie has reached her destination, Ivy holds up one house back. She watches and waits for Kylie to cast her spell in an attempt to disable the guards by the boat.
Suddenly, Ivy feels something touch her leg! She bites back crying out in surprise! Looking down Ivy sees a large gray tabby rubbing against her leg. The feline looks up at Ivy wide eyes and purrs loudly.
"Well, hello there, little one," Ivy almost purrs in response. "You startled me. Aren't you the friendly kitty?" Bending down, Ivy pets the cat, causing it to even purr more.
Unexpectedly, the fireworks go off in the sky startling Ivy!
"Oh no!", Ivy mutters to herself. She was not ready to move yet due to the distraction.
Looking ahead, Ivy can no longer see the guards around the boat due to the darkness. Figuring that its okay, Ivy breaks into a run in an attempt to make up lost time.
Reaching the barge, Ivy can see Sherra taking position inside. Ivy rushed unto the dock and prepares to cast her Wyvern Watch spell. The next thing she knows, someone runs into her sending the priestess off balance and into the drink!
The next thing Ivy knows she's underwater and disorientated. Fortunately, the water is not too deep. Ivy pushes off of the bottom and rises to the surface. The priestess pops up close to the side if the barge.
"Don't worry about me, Sherra! Go after Lothar!"
With that, Ivy begins to swim across the river. Might as well since she is already wet. Once out of the water, Ivy will try to give chase if she can see where the pursuit has gone. If able, she will attempt to cast Hold Person on Lothar.

Chareos
As the Sky Lights up in dazzling multicolored lights, Chareos looks on in wonder for a few moments. Quickly realizing that that was the signal he begins to cast Mirror image upon himself. As the spells succeeds 5 identical copies form on his flanks. He begins to ride towards Corley and Saladrin two guards are quickly seen on either side. He begins to cast his Flaming sphere and a Large ball of fire comes into existence about 6 yards from his position. He directs the rolling inferno towards the guard near the supply depot in the hopes of taking the guard out. He will than ride forward with the ball of fire nearby if any other guards come to greet him he will have the flaming sphere greet them. When the spell winks out he will cast color spray and than in turn whack em with his quarter staff. If he does reach Corley's position ( which I doubt) he will cast magic missile at the black flamed swordbearer.

Laucian
Checking his equipment one last time and finding everything in order. Laucian mounts his horse and awaits Lilia's arrival. As she takes his hand he notes the hidden strength within her grip and frame. She settles in behind him and wraps her arms around his chest. A warm feeling he is not accustomed quickly comes over him. 'Keep your mind on what is expected of you' he reminds himself. He turns Starfire and urges him forward towards town.
On the outskirts of town he comes to a stop and both dismount.
"My Tymora and Ehlonna watch over you", she responds back in Elvish
"May Ehlonna guide and protect you," and with that turns and moves silently towards the smithy using the shadows to his advantage. He pauses for a moment near the trees checking his flanks and rear. 'This will do nicely' he thinks to himself as he notes each guard's presence. They look to be bored and not at all alert. "They will be your downfall Lothar, You should've chosen your guards more wisely." he thinks to himself. He knocks an arrow to his bow and waits for the signal.
He doesn't have to wait long, As the sky lights up in various colors. For a few moments he looks up then quickly remembers his duty. He takes aim at a nearby guard but someone, probably Lilia ,removes him from this world. Quickly he changes targets and lets his arrows loose. The first arrow is set loose and finds its mark as he reaches for his second. His aim is true and the guard falls to the ground.
He quickly scans the area and sees no guards. He rises from his hiding place bow in hand and begins to sprint towards the pen. He quickly shoulders his bow as he reaches the pen door. He mounts one horse and begins to drive them from the pen. He quickly realizes that his actions were noticed as a guard from behind yells for the alarm. He risks a glance over his shoulder noting the man, cursing softly as he turns. "You will have to catch me first, my friend," he says to himself as he drives the horses further along.
As he reaches the riverbed with the horses a loud splash reaches his elven ears. He turns the horse and begins to look around to see what has transpired. His eyes find someone in the water and another who seems to be running on the water. He curses softly to himself, "This is my fault. How could I be so careless." He quickly assumes that the man running is Lothar.
He quickly turns his mount to face the river bed. He digs his heels in to the horse's sides and they move towards the river at a medium pace.( he will grip the mount's mane if there is no saddle.} He only hopes that the river's current isn't too strong.
He will ride the mount as it swims through the river. When he reaches the other side he will take up the left flank and advance on Lothar's position. He will slow to a trot and begin to cast Faerie fire on Lothar in the hopes of illuminating him for the others to see. Afterward he will recover his bow from his shoulder and knock an arrow to it and advance to aid the others. If he does see an open shot he will take it aiming at the man's legs.

Debate with Lilia
VALIDAR -
Back to the past and the discussion w/ Lilia:
"I was not being defensive Lord Validar," Lilia continues in her neutral tone. "But yes, I do find it presumptuous for someone untrained my area of expertise to question my spell selection. It would be akin to me trying to give you pointers in hand-to-hand combat. Foolish in the extreme. As a mage I must prepare my spell lists to deal with threats both known and unknown. Pyrotechnics is a valued spell as it can be used for multiple uses ranging as a signal to quenching fires to obscuring an area with smoke. It is a multi-purpose spell. Humanoids have frequently set fire to our home land forest so carrying Pyrotechnics is always prudent."
Validar keeps his tone even as well as he speaks. "I disagree with your frame of reference entirely, Lilia. To ask questions about your spell selection is akin to you asking me questions about tactics or about whether a lance is more useful than a sword in a particular battle. Your example is wholly inaccurate I must point out."
"As for you giving me pointers in hand to hand combat, it is hardly foolish, even in the slightest degree. A very good adventuring companion of mine, who happens to be Elvish, once said to me, 'It is intelligence to learn from those who have more knowledge than yourself or are above your station, but it is true wisdom to be able to see opportunities and learn from anyone regardless of who they are and how extensive their knowledge.' I firmly believe that. It is only blind arrogance that makes us believe that one who has less information in total cannot contribute in a positive manner."
"Defensiveness, arrogance, fear of being questioned, which is often the lack of self-confidence, are all weaknesses that a good enemy will happily exploit."
We elves value our individuality over all else, save the defense of our homeland."
"As you say, Lilia of Grunalf, you are not in the Elven Lands currently. Playing half by our rules and half by your own seems to make for a difficult situation. Or perhaps not. This group remains a band of individuals and seems desirous of keeping things that way, at least for the moment. However, let me point out an example that one of my mentors in Pyris showed me. Individuality is highly prized and a good thing in moderation. If you take one large stick and hand it to Lilia, even if she has to struggle, she can break it by itself. Now, if you were to take ten of those same large sticks and try to have even Corley snap them all at once, he would be hard pressed to do so."
"Nonetheless, I have learned a lesson this day." Validar will move away from the others now that the battle plan is ready. His hopes for this group are a question in his mind as he tends to his weapons and horse and does the same for Po.

Lothar tries to escape the adventurers! He rushes down the dock and sends Ivy into the water before leaping into the river himself. Unlike the priestess, Lothar doesn't fall into the water; rather he lands on top of it as if it was solid. Lothar than begins to run across the Grayhare River!
The action attracts the attention of Kylie and Sherra. Kylie quickly discards the notion of casting a Web and goes for her bow. She aims for Lothar's legs and fires. Her shaft grazes Lothar's left leg and causes him to stumble. A second missile is wide.
Sherra fires her bow from the river barge at Ivy's insistence. The black clad woman fires and hits Lothar in his left arm. Again the impact is noticeable to those watching, but it insufficient to slow the bandit down. The second arrow flies harmlessly past. Ivy begins to swim across the river.
Laucian turns back from leading the horses away to observe what is going on. Spurring on the horse he was riding, the elven ranger holds the reins tightly as he enters the water.
Spreading her gossamer wings, Lilia rises off of the house next to Lothar's. She flies up and over the tree between her and her target. Slowing to a hover, the elf maiden adds her own arrow barrage to the attack. The first arrow strikes Lothar in the back of his right shoulder.
The second arrow is more devastating as it embeds in the bandits back! The force of the impact throws Lothar forward and he lands hard on top of the water. The bandit lies there groggily.
Several of the adventurers converge on the bandit as he lies there by varying modes of movement. Ivy swims over, Laucian comes in on horseback, and Lilia hovers overhead. Kylie and Sherra also stand ready with their bows. Unnoticed by most, Sherwood hovers high overhead.
Reaching Lothar, Laucian drags the wounded man onto his horse and begins the trek back to shore followed by Ivy and Lilia.
Elsewhere, Lord Corley rides all out to reach the Twin Forks Inn. As the young noble rounds the corner, he spies those he assumes to be Artur and Arkane along with more bandit guards. Corley rides towards the mage, running over anyone who gets in his way.
Nearing the enemy mage Corley leans off his horse and allows himself to fall on Arkane! The action so surprises the mage that he fails to get out of the way. Corley barrels into the mage and both go sprawling to the ground.
Corley struggles to get back to his feet as several bandits come towards him. His armor staves off their attacks thus far. The bandits surround Corley while Arkane, not appearing any worse for wear from the collision quickly moves away.
Artur, his blackflaming sword drawn, begins to advance on Corley. The armored warrior pauses as he hears the sound of more riders approaching. Turning back around, he sees Validar riding towards him with another rider behind the nobleman.
A bit further down the road, Chareos sends his Flaming Sphere towards one of the bandits. The man is singed a bit and quickly begins to run away from the fiery globe.
Behind the mage, Grondar brings up the rear on his pony. He fires his crossbow at a bandit behind the warehouse. It strikes the bandit in the chest, but his armor saves him from serious damage. The second bolt is sent wide by the movement of the pony. The bandit himself turns and begins to run away from Grondar back the way he came.

GM Notes
GM Notes:
That pretty much advances things 1 more round.
Lothar is still very much alive, but has taken damage and is bleeding from the arrow in his back. The arrow impact temporarily stunned him, but he will recover and will need to be controlled in some manner.
The range for Web is indeed 5 yards/level. It also requires solid opposing anchor points for proper support otherwise the spell fails. There were no such points over the river, which is why Kylie discarded the spell and used her bow.
A Called Shot is made at a -4 to the attack roll.
Attempting to fire missile weapons while on a moving mount incurs a minus to the attack roll. If the mount is moving no faster than half speed, then the attack is made at -2 to hit. If going full speed it becomes -4.
Purchasing the Horse Archery fighting style specialization can offset this minus. It changes the penalties to -0, and -2 in the above examples.
Chareos, the Flaming Sphere moves VERY SLOWLY when compared to horse, four times slower then when the horse is just walking, up to twelve times slower at a full gallop. So if you want to keep it with you, then you'll need to slow down considerably. Or you could have it chase the already burned bandit or simply leave it be and continue on. Your call.
No one still has taken damage yet.
Sherra remains out of touch. Validar hasn't had any word from her player since last weekend. I decided her moves for this update.

Lord Corley
Corley:
Corley rides towards the Twin Forks Inn on Charger. At last the Inn comes into view and there are miscreants there who need to be dealt with! While Corley would dearly love to test his mettle, he ignores the armored warrior with the sword enflamed with blackfire. Instead, he concentrates on the enemy mage as per the plan. Or rather what he remembers of the plan.
Changing Charger's path, Corley directs the warhorse through the lesser bandits, sending them scattering like leaves. Nearing the mage, Corley leans off the horse and lets go. The enemy mage does not suspect the danger he is in and collides violently, but silently, with Corley taking both of us to the ground.
Rolling with the impact, Corley is quickly on up his feet once more. The crash had separated him from his intended target. The enemy bandits move in and to do battle, but his magic plate mail protects him from harm.
Reaching back, Lord Corley draws his two-handed sword and goes to work on the bandits between him and the enemy mage. He will cut a path back to the spellcaster in an attempt to keep him with in the area of silence.

Ivy the drowned rat
Ivy:
The priestess attempts to both swim and watch Lothar at the same time. She can hear the arrows flying through the air towards the fleeing bandit. Fearfully Ivy hears the sound of an arrow penetrating skin and bone. Lothar falls, but remains above the water by whatever strange magic at his command.
"Oh no!", Ivy cries out as she continues her swim.
Finally reaching Lothar, Ivy is relieved to find the man still alive, but wounded.
"I need help here! He will live, but we need to get him to shore!"
Looking around, Ivy can see Lilia hovering overhead supported by large thin wings. Somehow they only make the elf look even more exotic.
Loud splashing draws Ivy's attention to Laucian who is approaching on horseback.
"Thank goodness you're here, Laucian. Help me get him back to the shore."
Laucian drags Lothar over top of the horse and heads back to shore. Grabbing a hold of a strap on he horses saddle, Ivy lets herself be pulled back to shore.
Once on land, Ivy examines Lothar. She pulls the arrow out of his back and tosses it aside. Then she converts her Remove Fear spell into a Cure Light Wounds and heals the wound. If this closes the wound, then Ivy will be content to apply bandages while the others stand guard. At this moment, Ivy is only concerned with keeping Lothar from perishing, but not healing all the damage done to him.
As Ivy works, she doesn't notice her shivering from being wet and in the cold. Her patient is her only concern.

Sherwood
Sherwood:
Sherwood watches as Lothar is brought down under a barrage of arrows. That last one from Lilia seems have done a great deal of damage. Sherwood is momentarily concerned for Lothar's life, but finds his worries unfounded. He is still alive and no doubt Ivy will make sure he lives to be questioned.
Satisfied that Lothar has been captured, Sherwood wings his way back to the Inn to see how the situation with Artur and Arkane fares. Flying in over the area, he finds Corley surrounded by bandits and attempting to keep near Arkane. Artur isn't involved in the battle, but he notices Validar riding in from the east.
Both men are dangerous and need to be brought down quickly. If both are within the area of affect, Sherwood will cast Hold Monster and target only Artur and Arkane. He'll see how that spell fares and how the fighters are doing before deciding his next course of action.

Lilia:
Beating her wings once more, Lilia rises up and pursuit of Lothar. She sees arrows flying at Lothar from multiple directions. They don't stop the bandit from running, but do slow him down a bit. The Elf Maiden slows to a hover and fires her own bow. Unlike the others, she aims for the torso, but the side opposite from the heart. Her intent is to bring the man down, but not slay him.
The first missile strikes Lothar in the shoulder, while the second embeds itself in the back downing the criminal.
Nocking another arrow, Lilia flies closer to make sure that this isn't a ruse of some type. She'll take up a position about twenty feet away from Lothar and off to one side.
The human priestess reaches the bandit, followed by my clansman. Lothar is hauled up on the horse and taken back on shore. Lilia will follow, maintaining her twenty-foot distance the whole while.
The Elf Maiden lands as Lothar is taken up on the beach. He is laid on his stomach while Ivy works to heal the arrow wound.
"We must bind him before he recovers enough to resist us," Lilia coolly states. "Anyone have some rope handy?"
Lilia will continue to keep her bow trained on Lothar. Should he attempt to escape, she will shot in him the legs. Lilia will not risk another shot to the body at this point.
"Your friend does speak wisely, Lord Validar. However, you did not offer me any sage council. You questioned why I had Pyrotechnics in memory. I explained my reasoning for carrying that particular spell. If my reasoning was insufficient in your eyes, then there is very little I can do about it. As for my own particular skills, I am most confident with them."'It is intelligence to learn from those who have more knowledge than yourself or are above your station, but it is true wisdom to be able to see opportunities and learn from anyone regardless of who they are and how extensive their knowledge.' I firmly believe that. It is only blind arrogance that makes us believe that one who has less information in total cannot contribute in a positive manner."
"Defensiveness, arrogance, fear of being questioned, which is often the lack of self-confidence, are all weaknesses that a good enemy will happily exploit."

Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!

GM Notes:
Forgot to mention it earlier, but the Twin Forks map has been undated once more with the relative positions of the characters. Lothar and those around him are near the barge behind his house. Too many people to get them accurately in that area.

Kylie:
Moving into town, Kylie notes that Ivy is doing pretty well in her efforts to remain quite. The woman doesn't have great training, but does well nonetheless.
Noting Lilia flying up to the house's roof, Kylie feels a pang of envy. She will learn that spell some day!
Everything quickly goes downhill, and Ivy soon ends up in the water. The priestess pops up quickly, demonstrating that she is not hurt or in danger of drowning, causing Kylie to smile thankfully. She cannot see Laucian, so has to assume that he is doing well in his assigned task.
Turning her attention back to Lothar, Kylie realizes that her Web spell is useless at the moment. Instead, she sends two shafts after the fleeing criminal. One catches a piece of his leg, sending him off-balance for a moment. Combined with Sherra's and Lilia's arrows, Lothar is taken down and gathered up by Laucian - who has swum into view on his horse.
Deciding that Lothar is in good hands, Kylie turns and peers around the building toward the inn. She is just in time to see Corley crash into a man she assumes is the mage called Arkane. However, her attention is drawn like a moth to the flame to the sword. It burns with a flame as black as pitch! Kylie has never seen such a thing, and wishes that she hadn't now.
Shaking her head to clear it of that ominous image, Kylie must decide her next action quickly. Leaning out around the west side of building 'B', she estimates the distance to the inn and the facility of using the two buildings as anchor points. If plausible, she'll cast her Web across the intervening space, trying to catch Arkane, Artur and as many of the bandits as possible while leaving Corley untouched. Should the spell prove unsuitable, she'll begin firing arrows - starting with Arkane.

Grondar:
Unaware of the troubles at the other end of town, Grondar has sufficient troubles of his own. This cursed mount is causing him no end of grief, first disrupting his spell and now throwing off his aim. At least one bolt struck the bandit, and that give Grondar some small hope.
Pulling the pony to a halt, the dwarf lines up another shot at the bandit. Part of him wants to help capture their primary targets, but he has fallen so far behind as to present little chance of catching up. Thus, he will see about rounding up the remaining bandits.
Grondar squeezes off the shot, then turns to see how fares the bandit singed by Chareos' rolling ball of flame. If both bandits get away, then he will continue his ride into town.

VALIDAR -
Last bit back before the battle:
Lilia - "Your friend does speak wisely, Lord Validar. However, you did not offer me any sage council. You questioned why I had Pyrotechnics in memory. I explained my reasoning for carrying that particular spell. If my reasoning was insufficient in your eyes, then there is very little I can do about it. As for my own particular skills, I am most confident with them."
"Your defensiveness blonds you to the difference between a simple question intended to better our assault and personal attack upon your magickal skills. Your reasoning is sound, no doubt. Understand that i will question anything I feel could be made better, just as I would expect anyone here to question my judgement. Anything that is true and strong can withstand the flames of inquiry."
---------------------------------------------
Back to the current battle:
Lord Validar rounds the house of Lothar to see his good friend Corley crash into the mage Arkane. Corley takes his target to the ground, but is quickly surrounded by their bandit guards and Arkane tries to scuffle away.
Most of the others seem caught up in trying to capture Lothar, but Validar hopes they will receive some assistance with this group. If not, then Corley and himself and Po will have to suffice.
As Validar rides in, his sword raised above his head, he sees the fighter with the Blackflame sword turn to face him. Figuring that Lord Corley can advance through the bandits and simply needs proximity to the mage to limit his effectiveness, then Artur is Validar's responsibility.
"That you carry a weapon of the Cult of the Black Flame marks you as evil and an enemy of Cynalon!" Validar bellows as he rides in. "Your heart is as black as that flame, villain, and it also marks you for death! Die, you Soulless Slug!" Validar will dismount quickly near to his foe in order to effectively use his shield and sword. He realizes the danger that sword presents, having read about his ancestors' battles against the Cult of the Black Flame when he was younger.

Ugh he is heavy......
Laucian
Laucian digs his heels into the mare's side urging it forward. Gripping the reins tightly the elf and mount enter the river as one. A large splash ensues, He shakes his head in a vein attempt to get his soaked red hair out of his face. As they splash their way towards Lothar's position , he notices several of the others arrows finding their mark on is dark garbed frame. Most appear to be not to serious, but from his vantage point it is hard to tell.
He slowly urges the mount forward and notices the man go down, amazingly enough he seems to be lying down on the river itself. As he reaches them he notes Lilia is hovering nearby and Ivy tending to the bandit.
"I need help here! He will live, but we need to get him to shore!"
"Thank goodness you're here, Laucian. Help me get him back to the shore."
"Give him here." He grabs the man's tunic and drags him towards him. Laucian will position him so that he is draped in front of him, over the saddle. "Hold tight." He will urge the mount forward one hand on the reins and the other on Lothar's frame to steady him.
One on the river bed he will dismount and remove him from the mount. Once on the ground, Laucian will first check for any weapons that he may have and remove them from him. After that is completed he will remove any jewelry the man maybe wearing than see to treating his wounds.
" I have nothing I can bind him with." He will check the horse's saddlebags if there is any for anything to bind the man with if there is nothing he will remove the horse's reins and use that in the mean time(his arms behind his back. .
After Lothar is bound he will knock an arrow to his bow and state. "Lilia, you and Ivy take him back to camp. I'm going to go check on the others. I will not be to far behind." If either Lilia or Ivy disagrees with his thinking he will stay and guard Lothar. Otherwise he will move as quickly as he can towards Lothar's house and begin to look for the others. If spotted he will move to them and take any clear shot,(not to fire into the melee), That may present itself. If no shot is present he will forgo his bow and draw sword and dagger as he advances(Taking up Validar's group flank)

Chareos
The young mage directs the raging inferno ball towards the guard. The ball of fire makes contact with the bandit and surprisingly only comes away singed. He turns a flees as 6 pair of eyes fixate on the fleeing bandit. "Run Like the dog you are!!!" he shouts at the man's back. Making sure that the bandit does not double back he directs the flaming sphere to chase the man down like a cat to a mouse. He will than follow the fleeing bandit in turn(staying out of range of the Sphere. If any guards or other targets show themselves he will begin to cast Melf's acid arrow and aim at the new target than proceed with a magic missile if time allows.
