Eternal Vigilance #74 - "Preparations for War"

Roll Call: Heroes of Dimension 1: Goldstar, Flux, Backlash, Blackout, Eldrich Arcane, Frostbite, Menagerie, Powershift, Sea Guard, Stargirl, Tesla, Tilt-A-Whirl, Gargoyle, Lavender, Purple Phlox, & Xanaphia

Heroes of Dimension 3: Starlord, Flow, Karma, Midnight, Eldritch Arcana, White Out, Changeling, Gem, Sea Sprite, Sunboy, Lightning Rod, Bombshell, Mauve, & Purple Phlox.

Heroes of Dimension 5: Guardian, Quazar, & Quazon.

Heroes of Dimension 6: Tigereye, Hardware, & Nemesis.

Heroes of Dimension 7: Halo, Bedrock, & Engineer.

The great crisis on multiple Earth’s continues! Goldstar/Starlord has returned to Earth and has gathered all the Vigilant and their allies at the Sea Base. Plans for what to do next are being discussed and new people are met.

Flux gives Goldstar an idea.
Flux wrote:"Next point: It is better to give than to receive. By that I mean simply it is better to attack their one weapon of destruction-remove it entirely- then to defend against it with shields and blocks indefinitely. Environment issues and all, I believe it better to attack them in the realm of Thulkos. Without their big gun, they cannot destroy ANY dimensions and no more defenses are necessary. If we can find ways to modify ourselves to operate there the advantages are in our favor. Any ideas on that Gold?"
Goldstar wrote:Goldstar actually seems surprised at this line of thought. She considers for a moment and then leans forward and kisses Flux on the lips!

“That is brilliant! Why did we consider that? Never mind, but yes, it should be possible using the same technology used here in the Sea Base. A type of force field for each person to block out the affects of the magical dimension and leaving them in a pocket of their home dimension.”

“Edgar, have you been listening to this? Can you create something that will do what we describe?”
“I have been monitoring, ma’am,” Edgar responds. “Theoretically, it is possible. It will just take time to develop.”

“Well create it between the two of us,” Edwina’s voice calls out. “There should be very little we can’t do together.”

“I can help as well,” Dr. Morgan Williams adds. “This is my area of expertise. I’ll get down to the labs and start working right away.”

Dr. Morgan Williams turns away and as he does he splits into eight copies.

“I’ll join them,” Guardian of the Nightwatch calls out. “Science and gizmo’s is my thing.”

The Engineer of the Alliance pitches in as well.

“Given the resources and talent present, I estimate two hours needed until project completion,” Edwina reports.

“Ms. Goldstar,” Edgar calls out once more. “There are still hostiles at the Starr Building. They are causing a great deal of damage. What should I do about them?”

“I forgot about them. Teleport them away to some place where we can hold them for now.”

“Engaging… Too late.” Edgar reports. “They were already teleported away by the Fist of the Conqueror.”

“The ship of our evil counterparts,” Goldstar says rhetorically.

“Then they are gathering forces like we are,” Starlord adds. “Our time is limited.”

“We should get ready to go the Infinity Core,” Goldstar calls out. “We’ll defend that position until the devices Edgar and the others are working on are ready. We might need people here at the Sea Base to guard the scientists. We cannot rule out an attack here. Make your choice. We move out in five minutes!”

Goldstar:
Stargirl wrote:“I think I have headache,” Stargirl complains. “Does this mean that if I have a daughter, I have to name her something that starts with a G?”
“I try not to think about it too much,” Goldstar admits. “As for what you name my granddaughter, that’s up to you dear. Although it is family tradition.”
Menagerie wrote:Returning to her own natural form, Menagerie moves closer to Goldstar and Flux to hear what Goldy has to say. "It's good to meet you, Goldstar - again. I have to agree with Flux in that this has been just a bit to crazy lately. I feel like I hardly know what world to call my own any more. And as nice as Changeling seems to be, four of me is really more than I can take. Heck, two of Flux is more than I can take," she finishes with a laugh and a friendly grin at Flux.
“Hello, Lily. How is Rose and Lance doing? They must be getting big by now. Yeah, all these dimensional doubles boggles the mind. But I think we’ve got a good plan and that this will all soon be over with. Then things will be back to normal. I imagine that none of this will have ever happened and you’ll be returned to a point right before it did. Things will advance normally from there.”
="Edgar"“I have been monitoring, ma’am,” Edgar responds. “Theoretically, it is possible. It will just take time to develop.”
“Get on it, then!”
Edwina wrote:“Well create it between the two of us,” Edwina’s voice calls out. “There should be very little we can’t do together.”
“Two super advanced AI’s are always better than one,” Goldstar states.
Morgan wrote:“I can help as well,” Dr. Morgan Williams calls out. “This is my area of expertise. I’ll get down to the labs and start working right away.”
“Sound good, doctor. We’ll take all the help we can get.”

“Stellar! We just need to hold the enemy back that long and then we can get to the heart of the matter.”
“Ms. Goldstar,” Edgar calls out once more. “There are still hostiles at the Starr Building. They are causing a great deal of damage. What should I do about them?”

“I forgot about them. Teleport them away to some place where we can hold them for now.”

We might need people here at the Sea Base to guard the scientists. We cannot rule out an attack here. Make your choice. We move out in five minutes!”
Goldstar will be going to the Infinity Core.

“Most likely we’ll be facing our opposites in combat once more. But unlike them, we can share information. Assuming that they are our doubles, then they should have the same weaknesses. Exploit them!

Flow

Flow has been taking it all in. The large base, so much like her own, the crowd of people, oddly familiar and strange at the same time. Bits and snippits of conversation.

In fact, this is our base too according to Goldstar. The same base in two or more realities. The same people-mostly. The same thinking-mostly. Perhaps our advantages lie in the differences. What is different here?

Flow evaluates the crowd, counting and analyzing, thinking silently.
Her eye falls on the two Williams doctors, the only ones with more than gender to separate them. An unpleasing notion settles into her head.

Where are the doppelgangers for them? What do they look like? Do either if them duplicate? and most important, HOW CAN WE TELL IF THEY ARE HERE RIGHT NOW?

Before she can say or do anything more the female version of Starlord announces a shift in plans.

Well and good. Similar to my own way of thinking. Now let's attend to that potential loose thread.

*//Edwina. Transmitting on closed channel. I have a concern involving the two Williams doctors. To wit: can we verify their bona fides? It is vital we know ASAP. Secondly, are there evil alternates of YOU and this base out there? Can you verify? Get back to me soonest on this!\\*

"I'll be staying here. If my evil alt puts in an appearance you will need me. My guess is, she will. Infiltration is her specialty."

Flux

Flux is startled by that impromptu kiss. It has been a long time since anyone did that. It felt good. Good enough that he misses the first part of that transmission to Edgar. But not that bit from Lily about 'too many Flux's'.

"Oh I don't know about that. Seems to me we could use more of me around here!" The smile is faint but it is there.

Forgetting again? Erasing again? And what defines 'normal' anymore?

Flux turns a surprised look in her direction. He had been planning to go to Infinity Exports until the environmental units could be readied. What was she thinking? He locks eyes with her, the question hangs there, but she returns look for look giving away nothing.

“The two doctor Williams have the proper quantum signature. We wouldn’t have teleported them here if they did not. Logically, there should be evil alternates for me, but she has yet to be revealed. There is no indication that they have a Sea Base like we do. The Sea Base was primarily created to be an anchor point in time/space. I doubt our opposites would care about such a thing. They are more interested in conquest, then protection.”

“For example, Starlord’s flagship is the Hand of the Guardian and he leads the Star Guard. In our opposite universe, the Star Emperor’s flagship is the Fist of the Conqueror and he commands the Star Conquerors. They wouldn’t build a base, they’d just take it from someone else.”

“I can begin scanning for those individuals who come from the two evil universes and relay their locations if you like.”

Reaching out, Lavender hugs Blackout. “You’ve already done it, hon. I’m yours to command, should choose too, or course. The only orders I will obey are yours. What do you want to do now?”
Blackout holds Lavender tight, relishing the moment. So few of these moments for him ever since the horrible accident and his remarkable recovery that made him the hero he is today.

Stepping back but still holding her arms, Blackout says, "We should prepare to go. I don't think I want to change the original decision."

Blackout will turn and await the time for them to begin what will hopefully be the final gambit in all of this.

Flux wrote:"Oh I don't know about that. Seems to me we could use more of me around here!" The smile is faint but it is there.
"Sure! How about 30 or 40?" Lily replies with a laugh. "Shouldn't be too hard to swing in a few more dimensions while we're at it."
Goldstar wrote:“Hello, Lily.
"The kids are both doing great. Lance is starting to learn to read, which is very exciting. Rose is enjoying her after-school soccer." Though she would love to talk about her kids on and on, this is not the time for it.

"That begs the question: which normal? It seems like we've had several normals already..."

Flux's idea seems to excite Goldstar, who latches onto and runs with it. Soon, both AIs and half the assembled heroes seem to be working on the idea. Unfortunately, Lily's talents don't really allow her to provide meaningful assistance.

Instead, Lily will spend her time going around the large room mimicing each superhero one at a time. While Goldstar's is probably the most powerful form she can assume, it never hurts to increase her flexibility. In particular, she will make sure to practice the magic-related forms, such as Eldrich Arcane and the Purple Phlox. That should make it easier to function at her best in the magical realm.

Seeing that Menagerie is doing what he's been doing, he moves over to join her. "I suggest that one of us stay here and one go to Infinity Core. Any preference?"

"That sounds like a good idea." Lily considers for a moment. "I think I'd rather stay here. You okay with that?"

"Sure," Changeling replies. "IC for me, then.

"You know, I've been wondering if there's any way for us to combine our power. I might have to ask Edwinna about that when she's not quite so busy."

Menagerie gets an amazed look. "I never thought of that. Could be pretty incredible. Please let me know what you find out."

"I will," Changeling says before moving away.

"Perhaps it would be a good idea to share us much information as we have on our weaknesses as we have. That way, we would be best prepared to assist one another."

“Why are you doing that?” the woman next to the girl who looks a lot like Nemesis asks. “It’s kind of creepy!”

Halo is a bit more intrigued by her doppelganger.

“That’s incredible! It’s like looking into a mirror! Do you just take a persons appearance?”

“Weakness to fire. And afraid of enclosed spaces. Enclosing them in ice would be one way to slow my twin down. “

GM Notes:

Here’s who I have going where as far as PC’s & their doubles are concerned:

Infinity Core: Goldstar, Flux, Blackout, Lavender, Tesla, Changeling, Stargirl, Frostbite, & Karma.

Remaining at Base: Starlord, Flow, Midnight, Mauve, Lightning Rod, Menagerie, Starboy, Ice Queen, & Backlash.

That just leaves the Eldrich/Eldritch & Tilt/Whirl combos to decide where they are going to go.

Roll Call: Heroes of Dimension 1: Goldstar, Flux, Backlash, Blackout, Eldrich Arcane, Frostbite, Menagerie, Powershift, Sea Guard, Stargirl, Tesla, Tilt-A-Whirl, Gargoyle, Lavender, Purple Phlox, & Xanaphia

Heroes of Dimension 3: Starlord, Flow, Karma, Midnight, Eldritch Arcana, White Out, Changeling, Gem, Sea Sprite, Sunboy, Lightning Rod, Bombshell, Mauve, & Purple Phlox.

Heroes of Dimension 5: Guardian, Quazar, & Quazon.

Heroes of Dimension 6: Tigereye, Hardware, & Nemesis.

Heroes of Dimension 7: Halo, Bedrock, & Engineer.

The Vigilant of two dimensions and their allies have returned to the Sea Base to plan their next move. One priority is to defend the Unifying Device place at the Infinity Core that is temporarily locking the dimensions together and thus preventing the enemy from using the Thanatic Rod.

The other plan had been to travel to Alpha Prime, the home world of the Star Guard to retrieve a shield, but Flux suggested an alternative. Aided by Edgar and Edwina, the scientists among the group will work on creating personal force fields that will envelope the wearer with their own dimension, thus protecting them from the strange magicks of the Thulkos dimension. Once they are ready, the heroes will move there in an attempt to stop Thanatic Rod from being completed.

Thus, half of the group is getting ready to go to the Infinity Core, while the rest while stay here to protect the scientists and their important work.

While waiting to depart, Menagerie walks about the large conference room adopting new forms. She takes the form of Backlash, much to his amusement.
Backlash wrote:What are you doing?” as Lily takes his form. “Never new I looked so good, Let’s see if it works!”

Backlash will walk up to Lily and punch her while she is in his form. Curious to see if his healing factor was transferred as well.
Backlash punches, the surprised Lily, forcing her back a few steps. Once she recovers from the shock, Lily can feel her strength being increased from the punch! She also feels much heavier, as if using Goldstar’s Neutron Star ability.

Sides are chosen and it’s time to depart. Goldstar has Edgar teleport away those going to the Infinity Core. Once that group is gone, Starlord has Edwina erect a shield to block the enemy from teleporting into the base. No sense in making it too easy on the enemy.

Roll Call: Goldstar, Flux, Blackout, Lavender, Tesla, Changeling, Stargirl, Frostbite, & Karma with Purple Phlox (both), Powershift, Gem, Quazar, Quazon, Hardware, Nemesis, & Bedrock.

The heroes of multiple dimensions arrive at the Infinity Core. It’s unchanged since the last time Goldstar was here. Infinity Exports’s transdimensional gateway is still working in overdrive, causing the area within twenty miles of it to experience overlapping dimensions. The unifying device is present, locking those twelve dimensions together.

A single large doorway leads into this area. It’s large enough for tractor-trailers to go back and forth, passing through the portal into another dimension. Higher up on the walls overhead, are observation and control areas, but these were heavily damaged during the earlier fighting.

“So what’s the plan?” Bedrock asks, his voice sounding like two stones being ground together.

A change comes over the young black man called Hardware. His skin becomes metallic in appearance. (Something like a black version of Colossus from the X-men.) Quazar and Quazon rise up into the air, close to each other.

Nemesis hovers a short distance away. “I have no idea what kind of powers I’m going to be unleashing, but the enemy will not like them one bit!”

“We spread out and protect the machine,” Goldstar simply answers. “The enemy could strike from anywhere.”

GM Notes:

I’m going to stop here and allow you to set up any kind of defenses you wish. Conversely, those who are going to destroy the machine can plan their attacks as well. The enemy can also teleport in, but they don’t have to all appear in the Infinity Core.

Here’s who will be attacking. I’ll list the enemy’s name, who they are a doppelganger of and their gender.

Star Emperor (Goldstar, Male), Reflux (Flux, Female), Dark Angel (Blackout, Female), Live Wire (Tesla, Male), Kumiho (Menagerie, Female), Star Prince (Stargirl, Male), Ice Queen (Frostbite, Female), Backlash (Backlash, Male), Twisterella (Tilt-A-Whirl, Female), & Spinner (Tilt-A-Whirl, Male).

So once more you can post your evil alter-ego’s if you so desire.

Roll Call: Starlord, Flow, Midnight, Mauve, Lightning Rod, Menagerie, Starboy, Tilt-A-Whirl, Whirl-I-Gig, Whiteout, & Backlash with Dr. Mary Beth Williams, Dr. Morgan Williams, Guardian, the Engineer, Tigereye, Sea Guard, Sea Sprite, and Halo.

Once Goldstar and her group are gone a shield is erected around the base to block anyone from teleporting in.

“The enemy cannot teleport into the base, so they’ll have to physically enter,” Starlord states. “Obvious points of entry are the airlocks and the sea doors from the submersible. We should position guards in that area. We’ll need to spread out since there are so many possible point of entry. Edwina will keep us advised of any break in attempts, allowing us to coordinate our defenses.”

”For now, we wait.”

GM Notes:

Much like the section above, I’m going to stop here to allow both sides to plan their defenses/attacks. The enemy cannot teleport directly into the Sea Base, but they can enter by other methods. Physically breaking into it for one. Another possible point of access would be the sea doors that allow the submersible to go in and out. There are also airlocks scattered about the base that could be forced open.

Here’s the enemy forces listed as per above:

Darkstar (Goldstar, Female), Flex (Flux, Male), BlackOut (Blackout, Male), Tesla (Tesla, Female), Skinwalker (Menagerie, Male), Star Princess (Stargirl, Female) Black Ice (Frostbite, Male), Recoil (Backlash, Female), Sea Conqueror (Sea Guard, Male), Sea Queen (Sea Guard, Female), Powerstone (Powershift, Male) & Black Pearl (Powershift, Female)

Once more you can post your evil alter ego’s if you so desire.

I still need to know where Eldrich/Eldritch will be.

Now what?

On the Matter of Deployments and Departures

Eldrich Arcane - Eldritch Arcana

The two mages have brought their respective Items under control but the strain is sufficient to be a distraction to them both. By mutual consent they both Step off some distance from all others to speak privately.

"Let us remove our Cloaks and Amulets. Without contact they are less likely to activate inadvertently" said He.

"I agree", said She "Things are difficult enough without the constant need for restraint of thought".

Both mages remove their items, setting them apart, and move away a bit as well.

"More and more memory is returning to me" said She. "Is it the same for you?"

"Yes" said He. "All of it, in truth. I recall the first meeting with many of those out there. I recall also those that do not seem to exist this time. I even recall the first Edgar, the High One, and how he came by that name."

She smiles, remembering that also. "The castle in the bay. Yes I recall that now. And the changes that came after. I wonder if . . . "

"Yes, "He says." I too speculate on that. Will we survive yet another alteration of Time? Yet mark this, the High Ones do not - cannot forget us. If we continue to exist past this point then they will insure that we are found again."

"True", She says. "If all else fails yet still the High One can be relied upon. That brings us to the second, more immediate matter. The placement of ourselves in this forthcoming conflict. It would be better to separate, yes and avoid conflicting our respective Items. Agreed?"

"Indeed so", said He. "I was about to say the same. It remains only to determine which of us goes where."

Both mages hear their leaders make declarations of intent-and they are not of the same mind.

"Odd that. Why does your leader wish to remain here?"

"I believe Flow has struck upon a thought and chooses to persue it", said She. "I saw a glimpse of something on her face for a moment. A notion, an idea, something. And that means that I shall remain as well."

"Well and good", said He. "Then the matter is resolved. I shall depart with the others. Strength and Will to you in your endeavors."

"And to you as well", said She.

They both give the Sign of Klono to each other and turn to collect their Items, one to stay behind and the other to depart, perhaps to never meet again.

Tilt-A-Whirl & Whirl-I-Gig:

“The enemy cannot teleport into the base, so they’ll have to physically enter,” Starlord states. “Obvious points of entry are the airlocks and the sea doors from the submersible. We should position guards in that area. We’ll need to spread out since there are so many possible point of entry. Edwina will keep us advised of any break in attempts, allowing us to coordinate our defenses.”

”For now, we wait.”

"waitingisboring," Tilt huffs.

"yeah," Whirl agrees.

"maybetheyrealreadyheresowebettergocheck!" Tilt says.

"yeah!" Whirl agrees.

Tilt and Whirl will act as a speedy messenger service should anyone need it while they rush around checking all the doors and airlocks. They will keep rushing from one to the next until something exciting happens.

Twisterella & Spinner:

The waiting is so boring. 'They' keep saying that all will be ready soon, but its all just words. blah blah blah The speedsters just want to do what they do best - cause pain quickly and a lot of it.

Once the order is given, Twisterella and Spinner will be like attack dogs uncaged. They will fan out and look for any heroes stupid enough to be in their way. The pair will spin wildly and throw their spikes and blades to try to injure as many heroes as they possibly can.

Stargirl & Company

Stargirl:

Once more Stargirl is teleported to some place she’s never been before. But this place is huge and there’s a giant rip in the fabric of reality present along with some strange machinery. Really unsure what to do, Stargirl will stay close to her mom, or Frostbite if that’s not possible.

“Okay, mom, this might be a good time to give me some pointers. I’ve had no real idea what I’ve been doing so far!”

Starboy:

Starboy watches as he double teleports away with many of the others. At least now things are starting to feel a bit normal without them here, but still this day has been anything but normal. Unsure what to do, Starboy will keep close to dad, or Whiteout if that’s not possible.

“Say, dad, this might be a good time to give some instruction on how to use these powers. I’d rather not be guessing what I can do if someone is trying to kill me!”

Star Prince:

The Star Prince is eager take another crack at these evil twins of ours! It’ll be good to be rid of them once and for all. The Star Prince well teleport in to the Infinity Core along with his Father and the others. Ice Queen will be close by.

Star Prince will mainly use his Solar Flare and Plasma Blasts against large groups. If it looks like he can take someone out, he’ll use is Radiation Blast on them. Neutron Star form will be used should he be physically attacked.

Star Princess:

Star Princes is NOT happy in the least! There’s a stupid scattering field that’s blocking teleporting in to the enemy base! They’ll be forced to go underwater to enter it! Knowing that Darkstar will take a more direct approach, Star Princes just follows her, dragging Black Ice behind her.

“Take a big breath, sweetie! We’re going to get wet and I don’t want you to drown!”
Time to rise and shine!

Goldstar & Friends

Goldstar:
Bedrock wrote:“So what’s the plan?” Bedrock asks, his voice sounding like two stones being ground together.
“We spread out and protect the machine,” Goldstar simply answers. “The enemy could strike from anywhere.”
Stargirl wrote:“Okay, mom, this might be a good time to give me some pointers. I’ve had no real idea what I’ve been doing so far!”
“My suggestions would be to use Solar Flare or Plasma Blast against a large group of enemies. The first will blind enemies temporarily, but that also includes any friends caught in the area too. Plasma Blast causes damage. Use a Photon Blast to attack a single foe, or an Ion Blast if the Photon Blast does not bother them. Use your flight to avoid hand-to-hand combat.”

Goldstar keeps watch for the enemy to arrive. Her own combat strategy will mirror what she told her daughter.

Starlord:

“The enemy cannot teleport into the base, so they’ll have to physically enter,” Starlord states. “Obvious points of entry are the airlocks and the sea doors from the submersible. We should position guards in that area. We’ll need to spread out since there are so many possible point of entry. Edwina will keep us advised of any break in attempts, allowing us to coordinate our defenses.”

Tilt & Whirl wrote:Tilt and Whirl will act as a speedy messenger service should anyone need it while they rush around checking all the doors and airlocks. They will keep rushing from one to the next until something exciting happens.
“That’s really not necessary,” Starlord starts to say, but the speedsters are already long gone. “At least it’ll keep them busy.”
Starboy wrote:“Say, dad, this might be a good time to give some instruction on how to use these powers. I’d rather not be guessing what I can do if someone is trying to kill me!”
“We’ve got a solid mixture of attack forms to choose from. Use Photon Blast or Ion Blast against single targets. Against a large group use a Plasma Burst. In close quarters, use Neutron Star to boost your strength.”

Darkstar:

Irritated that she must dive below the water to reach the enemy stronghold, Darkstar is not a happy camper. Just because she can survive underwater indefinitely, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to!

And so Darkstar will lead the charge on the enemy base. She takes no one with her, just flying off on her own trusting the others to follow. She’ll be in Neutron Star mode and will simply smash open the closest airlock to penetrate the base.

Star Emperor:

The Star Emperor comes in guns a blazing, figuratively speaking. He’ll hit the enemy with a Plasma Burst and then switch into Neutron Star mode. Then he’ll begin to pound those who get in his way.

defenders..

Post by Blackout »

Blackout:
The heroes of multiple dimensions arrive at the Infinity Core. It’s unchanged since the last time Goldstar was here. Infinity Exports’s transdimensional gateway is still working in overdrive, causing the area within twenty miles of it to experience overlapping dimensions. The unifying device is present, locking those twelve dimensions together.

A single large doorway leads into this area. It’s large enough for tractor-trailers to go back and forth, passing through the portal into another dimension. Higher up on the walls overhead, are observation and control areas, but these were heavily damaged during the earlier fighting.
"So what can you tell me," Blackout asks Lavender. "Where would be the weakest area that would need the most defense?"

Depending on what answer he recieves, Blackout will move into position, seeking a concealed spot to wait out the first attacker(s). If one appears close by, he will drop a globe of darkness around himself and engage the villain in hand-to-hand. If one appears at a distance, he will throw his rod, using a ricochet to hopefully not betray where he is lurking.

BlackOut:
The enemy cannot teleport directly into the Sea Base, but they can enter by other methods. Physically breaking into it for one. Another possible point of access would be the sea doors that allow the submersible to go in and out. There are also airlocks scattered about the base that could be forced open.
BlackOut moves through the water although he is definitely not pleased. It causes him some discomfort and longs to be free of it soon. Hopefully one of the others will provide a quick and brutal opening for him to move through, otherwise he will have to check each airlock for any sign of weakness to allow himself to pour his shadow through.

the waiting is the hardest part...

Tesla:

Tesla takes to the air and activates her force field. She will find a good vantage point that lets her see as much of the area as possible while leaving her back exposed as little as possible. Then she waits. The first clear target she gets receives a lightning blast as a prize...

Sinister Tesla:

Having recovered from the draining effects of unleashing her nova blast, Tesla fumes at having failed, not only to take out any heroes, but to not damage any machinery either!

"This time will be different!" she vows to herself as she prepares for the assualt. Once teleported in, she will go airborne and look for any heroes or fragile machinery to lay waste to, using an electrical blast to say hello.

Menagerie & Changeling:
Goldstar wrote:“That’s wonderful!” Goldstar answers. “They seem to grow up so fast. We’ll have to get together with them once this is all over with.”
"Absolutely! I know the kids will enjoy seeing you."
Goldstar wrote:“I would assume normal as it was before the dimensions merged, so Rose and Lance should be just as you remember them.”
Lily just nods. That sounds great, though somehow she's not sure it's the only past she's had...
“Why are you doing that?” the woman next to the girl who looks a lot like Nemesis asks. “It’s kind of creepy!”
"I'm sorry to have bothered you," Lily replies. "With the way my powers work, this is the best way I can prepare for the coming battle."
Halo wrote:“That’s incredible! It’s like looking into a mirror! Do you just take a persons appearance?”
"Halo, isn't it? Yes. By taking on another person's form, I can utilize their abilities as well." She looks back at the other woman who had been disturbed by her power. "Essentially, I am adding your capabilities to my pool of forms, so that I can access your abilities when I need them. The more forms I have access to, the more flexible I can be in dealing with situations as they arise."
Backlash wrote:What are you doing?” as Lily takes his form. “Never new I looked so good, Let’s see if it works! Backlash will walk up to Lily And punch her while she is in his form. Curious to see if his healing factor was transferred as well.
Backlash's comment causes Lily to laugh, so she is unprepared when he hits her. The blow causes her to stumble backward a few steps, though she manages to maintain her feet. She can feel her body absorbing the power of the blow and causing her to become stronger and heavier!

"Wow. This feels kind of like Goldstar's power." She looks at him for a moment. "Please don't hit me again."
Backlash wrote:“Not to sound like I am intruding but, Have you ever tried to mix two forms at once? Say Tilt’s speed and my strength?” he asks curiously.
"No, I can't say I have. Since I have to assume the form someone's form to take on their power, I'm not sure how to combine the forms of multiple people to selectively choose their powers. Might be worth experimenting with sometime, though I'm not certain it would work.

"I can manipulate my own physical abilities to some extent, so I can combine strength and speed that way - and have done so in the past - though it doesn't allow for the range of powers that mimicing other does."

===

A short time later, Changeling is teleported away with the rest of his team. They arrive in a very large room. This is the centerpoint of the overlapping dimensions, causing the room to appear very strange.

Changeling will shift to StarLord as his default initial form, then soar up near the ceiling to allow a good view in all directions. He'll begin to slowly circle the room so as not to be stuck in one place when the attack comes.

"I can take the sea doors. Edgar can find me a good spot to block access to the rest of the base." If Starlord doesn't instruct her otherwise, Menagerie will make her way there, contacting Edgar for strategic advice along the way.

“Its like something out of a whacked out sci-fi movie!.”

Frosty will be ready for the coming attacks, “If you see my double don’t hesitate to thaw him out.” he says evenly. “We will all get through this.” he says reassuring not only her but himself.

“Sorry, thought you wanted to be one of the guys.” he says evenly. Curious about something he adds. “Before we teleported Karma and I had a run in with your doppelganger. Are there any weakness that you think they might have?”

Backlash will move towards the submersible doors and await those who may come.

Karma

Karma will be ready for what may come at the Infinity Core.

Lavender:
Blackout wrote:"So what can you tell me," Blackout asks Lavender. "Where would be the weakest area that would need the most defense?"
“We’re deep within the complex,” Lavender explains. “So we’re already past any defenses that Infinity Exports had in place. The portion we’re in is below the ocean’s floor. The docking rig is half a mile above us.”

Lavender takes a look around, trying to come up with an answer. This sort of thing isn’t her area of expertise.

“Okay, there is one large ground floor entrance to this chamber. It’s large enough for tractor-trailers to go through. They drove these through the portal to move cargo back and forth. There is an observation and control area higher up in the room. There are several normal sized entrances through there. Those lead into other hallways in the complex. That’s about the best I can tell you.”

Flux

Flux evaluates the position with an eye towards defense: large structure, multiple entries, one soft target, immobile.

"Goldstar. How hard is this engine? How much would it take to damage it?"

Not knowing if everyone is comm linked Flux will raise his voice enough to be heard by all in the room.

"Anyone here with heightened senses of any sort? We will need to spot small intruders, possibly invisible ones as well. Also bear in mind at least three types of vision deprivation can be used on us. With Edgar scanning for us we will know when they enter so everyone be sure you are comm-linked. Check it now."

"We have one advantage here. They want to destroy the unification engine but not the rest of the place. They need it to keep things on track. So, no big blasts or flooding us out. Stay sharp and sing out if you get overwhelmed."

Flux will take the low road, going small and wispy, taking position above the unification machine in one of the control booths.

I don't quite get it. It doesn't seem to me that any real strategic planning is coming from the other side. Where am 'I' in that setup? Are my opposites leading from the rear? Leading at all? Not even giving advice?

Flux ponders and waits wondering who will be in the assault . . .

Reflux

K.I.S.S. My favorite kind of plan. It's a smash and grab without the grab. Go in. Break item. Hurt anybody I want afterwards. Leave at leisure. What can go wrong? Riiight. Just like the last plan.

ReFlex handles the approach simply enough: flying out, phasing out, and dropping down. Once inside she will stay low, moving through walls and floors to reach the doohickus. Then it's breakage time! After that, targets of opportunity.

Hope that big grey lump of ugly is there. I want a second shot at her.

Flow

"Primary objective is to prevent the deaths of our civilians working on the protective devices. If I were running that opp I would hit loud and hard in one or two places as diversions while sending stealth infiltrators to do the killing. Therefore I'm placing myself near the workers in my own fashion to counter any surprises there. I recommend some others come with me."

This may go badly. Soft targets, tied to one location, necessary equipment very fragile, limited time for response. If we can't save things I will at least save people by getting them out of the base if I have to.

*Edwina. Worst case scenario. If civilian lives are in extreme danger I want an emergency teleport executed for the workers away from here to our facility on the mainland. Don't wait for my command-execute at need. Can do?*

Knock Before Entering

Flex

Slab of pie. Can't get easier. Bust in, kill 'em. So easy a child can do it. And if anything goes wrong this time . . . I'm out of here. Going fast. Going far. There's money and women out there and I'm gettin' me some of both. This plan has netted me zilch for cash so far. Anything that even LOOKS valuable is going in my pocket!

Flex flies out with the rest, swapping flight for density, dropping straight into the water and down to the base. Once there he will rip a hole in an airlock, giving his buddy BlackOut a way in-and first crack at getting punched, blasted, zapped and kicked. What are friends for after all!

Eldrich Arcane

Eldritch ponders his best defense of this strange non-arcane object.

Stand beside it. Prepare the Amulet for instant use. Sunglare those who target it or me. Follow with Bolts. Yes. That seems best.

Eldritch is as ready as he can be to protect the device-and all the realities it binds.

Eldritch Arcana

Eldritch ponders her best defense against the soon to be approaching enemies.

Mobility. They can access several entry points. I can Step to any of them. Edwina will alert us to their location. Then I go and cast Sunflare and Bolts. More cannot be planned until we know who is going to arrive. Thus the plan is formed.
