The Guardians have arrived in Wrasseldown and it appears that enemy forces were waiting for them. The town is seemingly deserted and uninhabited. Scouts are sent into investigate.
Sherra uses her armor to blend in while she stealthfully explores. In a general store she comes across a small boy hungrily feeding himself. Sherra speaks to him as she moves closer, but he doesn't appear to hear her. Likewise, he doesn't respond to the alluring melody that is briefly heard. The singing stops and what Sherra believes to be sounds of battle erupt.
Stepping carefully around the child Sherra puts on a pleasant smile and moves into his view. The boy is momentarily startled by her sudden appearance and but does not run. His little face is dirty and has a very weary look to it as if it’s been a long time since he slept. He doesn’t fight as Sherra scoops him up.
With the boy in her arms, Sherra moves to the back to the store and the rear exit since the combat seems to be going on out front. As she reaches the back door, a new noise reaches Sherra’s ears. A floorboard creaks upstairs from someone or thing stepping on it!
Sherra can easily exit the building and make her way back to the cavalry without incident.
The other scouts are all airborne be it on a Pegasus, by spell or by magic item. Sir Acerion discovered the infernal nature of the harpy and that there were two other malignant beings inside the barn in addition to the horde of undead. The harpy vanished, but the other two remained still. They are not moving with the undead horde. Sir Acerion banks off with his Pegasus and flies back to inform Baron Validar of this fact.
Yusef successfully silences the harpy’s song and continues to wing towards her former location, fearing that she’s only made herself invisible. Yusef flies through the area where the harpy was but finds it to be clear. Flying onward, he passes over the roof of the barn to the rear of the building. Two more barns are behind this first one and more of the hideous creatures are pouring forth to the left and right.
There is a rear entrance to the first barn on the ground level and another that opens up to the overhead loft. Passing through the loft door, Yusef is safely above ground and goes unnoticed by the monsters below. Standing at the far end of the loft, which would be the side just under where the harpy was are a pair of beings watching what is going on outside the barn.
The first is a man wearing the armor of a follower of Hextor! (Black chainmail with a white skull.) The man’s features appear a bit off. He looks like he’s in his fifties, but Yusef gets the feeling that his features are not natural. That they are being distorted in some manner.
A woman in simple black robes stands beside him. She’s unquestionably beautiful, but her skin is nearly white in complexion, as is her hair. (In spite of her appearance, her style of dress does not remind Yusef of a follower of Auril.) Grasped tightly in her hands is an ivory staff, seeming carved out of a very large bone.
The woman turns, somehow sensing that Yusef had seen them.
“We have an unwanted visitor, Lord Baracus,” she says to her companion.
“Then the knave needs to be taught a painful lesson,” Lord Baracus states, drawing a blood-red long sword.

Page 2
High overhead, Dusk observes Yusef flying into the first barn down below. He can confirm that more monsters are coming from the other two barns to join those from the first barn. The owl does not spot any other creatures moving.
Outside the barn, Argent shimmers back into existence upon the completion of a spell. A Wall of Fire erupts in front of the charging horde, but safely far enough away to not set the barn on fire. The first wave of the hideous creatures rush fearlessly into the wall with no regard for their safety! They burst through the wall and continue to advance on the approaching riders, their forms completely immolated in fire. Their steps begin to slow to a crawl and then the flaming monsters drop to the ground and die. Their bodies continue to burn all the while. Nearly two-dozen of the monsters are downed in this manner.
But the others behind the first wave see this and stop! Somehow they realize the danger and move off to the left and right to circumvent the wall!
The riders approach and see the Wall of Fire eliminate many of the horde, but then their numbers slow to a trickle and stop completely. Chareos casts a Fireball that explodes in front of the barn on the far side of the Wall of Fire. None of the riders can see the effects of the Fire.
However, Yusef can as the fire nearly reaches Lord Baracus and his female companion. Those monsters within the spells effect go down as fiery corpses. The part of the barn caught in the fiery explosion begins to burn.
Further back with the riders, Ivy uses her innate Undead Hunter abilities and confirms that the approaching monsters are indeed undead creatures, but ones that she’s never seen before. The undead hordes are now rushing around either side of the Wall of Fire to reach the riders.
Crysania invokes a spell of her own and a whirling horizontal wall of blades appears, spanning the street. The first of the undead rush head first into the wall of blades and are pureed into innumerable small chunks. What remains can no longer be identified as any type of being. But as with the Wall of Fire before, the monsters behind those in the first wave realize the danger and keep a safe distance. Once more they split up to rush around this barrier.
While Lyonessa prepares a summoning spell, Serena uses an innate Inquisitor ability. The ability to sense evil magic in the area. The undead, predictability, fall into this category. However other sources are noted. Serena can sense evil magic on the upper floor of the closest building! The curtains are drawn there, so you cannot spot anything through the windows.
GM Notes:
The riders have a round to prepare before the monster horde reaches them thanks to the barriers they have to circumvent.

Yusef:
Dipping down, Yusef meets nothing but air as he flies through the spot the bird-woman just vacated. Thus, he wings about toward the back of the barn. Behind the building, he discovers that there are two more barns, and more of the hideous creatures are swarming out of both!
Fortunately, there is an opening to the barn's loft in back, and Yusef flutters in and lands. Stepping forward, it takes a moment for his eyes to adjust to the dim light of the loft. Once they do, he is able to pick out to figures looking out of the loft opening on the other end.
As he draws closer, the figures resolve into a man and a woman. The man appears to be a warrior dedicated to Hextor, and the lady a priestess or mage. The woman is beautiful, and the man appears... odd, like his features are distorted by a spell or something of the sort.
Sneaking up on the pair would be optimal, but Yusef doesn't get that chance as the woman turns and spots him. Immediately, the armored man turns and stalks toward Yusef with a strange red sword drawn. Yusef has no doubt that the blade is magical and thus should avoid being hit by it, if he can.
Yusef considers summoning a spirit animal to attack the woman, but he suspects that she could easily defeat it, which might in turn leave him vulnerable. No, best to deal with them one at a time. Instead, he races forward to engage the man, intending to keep the warrior between himself and the woman as a small defense against her spells.
Even as he rushes forward, the woman shifts a bit allowing Yusef a better look at her. "Great Aunt Thelma? Is that you?" he asks calmly as he leaps to attack the man with the sword.

Serena
Serena:
Ignoring the approaching undead and the magical barriers erected to deter them, Serena concentrates on locating any source of evil magic in the nearby area. Looking away from the undead, she examines the nearby buildings and does manage to locate one!
“There!” Serena calls out, pointing towards what she sensed. “I am sensing malignant enchantments radiating from there!”
Fearing an eminent magical assault, Serena casts Minor Globe of Invulnerability for protection. She then speaks to those around her in a voice just loud enough for them to hear.
“The sphere I just summoned will hedge out lesser magicks, thus creating an area of safety that all can use. You can exit and enter the globe as you wish. It will block magicks as powerful as Fireball or Lightning Bolt.”
From there, Serena will either Turn Undead if they are too close, or summon a Fire Elemental using her Staff of Fire is she has time.

Knight of the Mystic Fire
Sir Corley
Sir Corley:
Sir Corley eyes the approaching throng of undead. The Wall of Fire does the trick and destroys any who pass through it. But then something remarkable happens! The undead horde turns and moves around the barrier!
“These creatures are different! They can think!”
The same thing happens after Lady Crysania erects her wall of whirling blades. Grasping his sword, Sir Corley awaits the eventual arrival of the horde. He can hear voices behind him, confirming that they are undead. Another says that there is another danger apart from the horde and that an area of shelter is being created. Unless ordered otherwise, Sir Corley awaits for the enemy to arrive and will begin dispatching them with his new weapon.

Argent
Argent:
“That’s not fair! These things aren’t mindless!”
Another barrier appears, a wall seemingly made up of whirling blades and it quite effectively annihilates any who get too close. But again, only a few are destroyed as the horde begins to move around this new impediment.
A fireball explodes amongst the horde, taking all in its effect down. Argent will cast Fireball into the portion of the horde closest to her, but will try to avoid setting any buildings on fire.
Argent is pleased at first as the monsters run mindlessly into her Wall of Fire, sealing their doom. But then the others turn and move away from it!Outside the barn, Argent shimmers back into existence upon the completion of a spell. I am an Invoker of no small power.
Ivy
Ivy:
Further back with the riders, Ivy uses her innate Undead Hunter abilities and confirms that the approaching monsters are indeed undead creatures, but ones that she’s never seen before. The undead hordes are now rushing around either side of the Wall of Fire to reach the riders.
Reaching out with her senses, Ivy just confirms that the monsters are some form of undead that is new to her.
“They are undead,” Ivy announces.
Serena then reveals that there are other dangers present and that she has set up an area that would block minor magicks.
Ivy keeps her focus on the approaching undead and will begin to turn them once they are in range, trusting in her faith to destroy these unholy creatures.

For the glory of the Blue Lady!
Crysania
Crysania:
Having a moment to spare, Crysania casts True Sight and will observe her surroundings before the undead horde arrive, searching for anything that is not what it seems to be.
“Aye, that may be the case,” Crysania agrees. “But by courage, honor, and valor we shall overcome.”"Indeed, it does at that!" Validar responds. "It would be simple for enemies of the Duke to know that we were coming and seek to destroy him. It was not hidden or even misrepresented. But that is the decision of the Duke and as such, we must respect his wishes and act accordingly."
"If it is an ambush, then we shall spring it soon enough."
“I do have something that may prove helpful. I’ll invoke the magic as soon as I am able.”"Do you not have any Detection spells available to you?," Validar asks. "I am concerned also about locating any sources of evil. Members of the Deville Family and their ilk may be about. If anyone was conducting an ambush here, it likely would be them."
Crysania watches as her barrier effectively removes the first wave, but the others grow wise and keep their distance. Crysania’s face displays no reaction to this, other than calmness.Crysania invokes a spell of her own and a whirling horizontal wall of blades appears, spanning the street. Battle for Wrassledown...
Baron Validar -
The hordes of malicious undead rush forward and some are destroyed by the Wall of Fire. But the next wave moves around it, then crashes into the Blade Barrier. So far they have eliminated a small number of the enemy, but these undead seem aware enough to react to their circumstances.
“These creatures are different! They can think!”
"You seem to be correct, Sir Corley," Validar agrees. "We have ourselves a challenging enemy then in numbers as large as this! And worse, while their leaders are still the most dangerous opponent, we may not see an end tyo the attacks simply by defeating them alone!" Lyonessa soon confirms through Dusk that even more of the abominations are coming from other nearby barns.
"We can expect to see hundreds of these monstrosities!" Validar cautions to the rest of his companions. "Do not save your energy or your powers in destroying the enemy! They have the numbers to overwhelm us if we are not wise! And while their tactics are not involved, the have some rudimentary intelligence at the least."
Yusef seems to not be about any longer and Validar assumes he has infiltrated the barn, but cannot be certain. He could have been ambushed. Sherra does not seem to ba about either. Sir Acerion is sent to the barn, with Argent in order to try and defeat the leaders of this group, or at least engage them, so that they cannot use any powers on the Guardians sight unseen.
“There!” Serena calls out, pointing towards what she sensed. “I am sensing malignant enchantments radiating from there!”
Fearing an imminent magical assault, Serena casts Minor Globe of Invulnerability for protection.
"Understood!" There are numerous enemies now it seems. This battle has gotten to be quite involved. Validar looks around and contemplates his next steps and future ones.
Reaching out with her senses, Ivy just confirms that the monsters are some form of undead that is new to her.
“They are undead,” Ivy announces.
"Very good. Ivy, Crysania, Lyonessa, stand your ground with Serena and her magicks," Validar says, moving to them so as to not give away the information. "The enemy could target you if you manage to destroy their horde. Sir Corley, take up a position with Chareos on one side of them; I will hold they other side. Do not let any of the enemy survive!" The Globe is not large enough to hold more than about 3 or 4 individuals, so Validar will be a short distance away. No reason to be in a Fireball area if it is targeted at the priests.
"We need to take out large numbers of the undead at a time. Hand to hand combat will not be efficient against an intelligent foe this numerous, unless there is no other choice," Validar states. He is not worried about their attacks, but he is guessing that they are likely to be stronger foes than the typical zombies or skeletons as well. If it comes to it, he does feel that they can kill them all by sword.
Argent unleahes another Fireball into the undead horde, hopefully reducing their numbers further. Validar can see Argent fire her spell and hears the explosion, but it is obscurred somewhat by the barrier.
"Chareos! Argent! " Validar will indicate the building that Serena pointed out. "Hit that as soon as you are able. Lyonessa, any defensive spells or counter effects you can cast would be helpful now. Use Lightning Bolts if you have them."
Validar will fight the horde of undead if they approach, trying to keep them from advancing further. He will try to keep his eyes open for any of the bigger evils to show their face. If the one Serena pointed out appears, Validar will try to engage it in hand to hand combat.

Conquer or Die!
getting to safety..
Sherra:
She rushes as fast as she can while making sure not to drop the child. When she gets close to the calvary, she waves an arm and hands off the child to the first person she can. "Take this child, I don't think he is injured," Sherra explains quickly.
"You better be ready just in case," she warns the soldiers. "There is a large engagement and it might spill over."
With the hopes that the fighting men will take every precaution, Sherra spins and rushes back. She concentrates on her armor once more to blend in and returns to the building where she found the child. Now it's time to investigate the upstairs, and Sherra will move silently as she makes her way up.
"C'mon lets get you out of here," Sherra says even though she doesn't think the child can hear her. She makes her way out, but something catches her attention.Stepping carefully around the child Sherra puts on a pleasant smile and moves into his view. The boy is momentarily startled by her sudden appearance and but does not run. His little face is dirty and has a very weary look to it as if it’s been a long time since he slept. He doesn’t fight as Sherra scoops him up.
Glancing up, Sherra whispers in response to whatever made the noise above, "I'll be back for you."With the boy in her arms, Sherra moves to the back to the store and the rear exit since the combat seems to be going on out front. As she reaches the back door, a new noise reaches Sherra’s ears. A floorboard creaks upstairs from someone or thing stepping on it!
Sherra can easily exit the building and make her way back to the cavalry without incident.

Acerion
Sir Acerion:
Argent unleahes another Fireball into the undead horde, hopefully reducing their numbers further. Validar can see Argent fire her spell and hears the explosion, but it is obscurred somewhat by the barrier.
"Chareos! Argent! " Validar will indicate the building that Serena pointed out. "Hit that as soon as you are able. Lyonessa, any defensive spells or counter effects you can cast would be helpful now. Use Lightning Bolts if you have them."
Acerion prepares to call down to Argent, however the battlefield changes and there seems to be another pressing matter that Validar needs her to take care of.
Knowing that Yusef is still out there somewhere, Acerion directs his pegasus to where he picked out the two powerful eminations of evil. If Yusef has encountered them, he will almost certainly be needing assistance.
He will fly overhead, looking down to watch the strange horde move and adjust to the spells being cast against them. "Most curious," Acerion says to himself.
Once he reaches the barn, Acerion will look for a place to land, hopefully away from the rushing horde (if any more still remain inside). He will move in after sending his pegasus away, not wishing his faithful mount to come into harms way.
Hopefully the paladin will see the pair facing off against Yusef. Once he does, he will close on the woman with his holy axe since Yusef is pairing off against the armored man. While he would prefer to engage the Hextor slug once he recognizes him, Acerion can not afford for the woman, whether priestess or mage, to unleash any spells.

Chareos
He will recite the words of his Ice Wall spell and focus it over the building in question and drop it on it. Though when he does so he will try to make it unapparent where he is placing it.
Hearing the Fireball go off but not seeing its affects, Chareos can only hope he's cutting the numbers down. Though, his hopes are dashed as the creatures turn and run around the Fire Wall only to be chopped into little pieces. The riders approach and see the Wall of Fire eliminate many of the horde, but then their numbers slow to a trickle and stop completely. Chareos casts a Fireball that explodes in front of the barn on the far side of the Wall of Fire. None of the riders can see the effects of the Fire.
Moving forward with his Quarterstaff in hand, Chareos hears the order from Validar and he turns to Sir Corley, “I hope this works.” He says quietly over the roaring fire and thundering footsteps."Chareos! Argent! " Validar will indicate the building that Serena pointed out. "Hit that as soon as you are able. Lyonessa, any defensive spells or counter effects you can cast would be helpful now. Lyonessa:
"Chareos! Argent! " Validar will indicate the building that Serena pointed out. "Hit that as soon as you are able. Lyonessa, any defensive spells or counter effects you can cast would be helpful now. Use Lightning Bolts if you have them."
Lyonessa will finish her Monster Summoning as it is the only real useful spell she has at the moment. Depending on what answers, it may only prove to be a small thorn for the horde, but it is better than no thorn at all.
Ivy senses they are undead, and that she might have better luck with. Once her summoning is cast at the mosters directed to defend us against the horde, Lyonessa will invoke the name of her goddess in hopes to turn, if not destroy, a portion of the undead.

The Guardians are being made to feel very unwelcomed in Wrasseldown. A horde of undead is rushing them while unseen leaders lurk in the shadows.
Flying into the first of a series of barns near the middle of town, Yusef has discovered two of these leaders. One is an older, unusual looking man dressed as a follower of Hextor. He is known as Lord Baracus. The other is an unusual looking woman in black robes, but with nearly white skin and hair. But Yusef seemingly knows her.
Winging his way back to the barn, Sir Acerion looks for a place to safely land his Pegasus. The roof of the barn presents its own challenge, as it is sloped heavily. (The harpy was straddling the peak of the roof. It is your typical A-frame construction.)
The front of the barn isn’t inviting, as the heat from Argent’s Wall of Fire can be felt there and Chareos’ Fireball has started several small fires. The only place that looks useable is behind the first barn. The undead pouring out of the back two barns are traveling along the sides of the first, so it should be safe to land, dismount, and send the Pegasus on its way.
Acerion brings his steed in for a landing.
Elsewhere in town, Sherra picks up the small boy and rushes out the back door. At the back door, she hears floorboards creaking overhead suggesting that something is up there. Rushing out the back door, Sherra heads to the cavalrymen to safely deliver the small boy. Then she spins and rushes back towards the town.

“Who are you?” The woman demands, her eyes narrowing. “Yes, you are of the true blood… But you’re not one of mine. Why are you here? With them?”Even as he rushes forward, the woman shifts a bit allowing Yusef a better look at her. "Great Aunt Thelma? Is that you?" he asks calmly as he leaps to attack the man with the sword.

Hovering overhead, Argent can see much of the battle below unfolding. She can see that orders are being given amongst the riders, but cannot hear them over the roar of the fires and the pounding of hundreds of footsteps. Argent tosses a Fireball into the horde of undead rushing close to her in the area between the Wall of Fire and the Blade Barrier. Those caught in the middle of the explosion are burned to a crisp. A few on the outside edge are violently thrown into the Blade Barrier and chopped into fine bits.
The main body of riders awaits the undead horde's arrival. Serena casts Minor Globe of Invulnerably and a faintly shimmering 5’ wide sphere comes into existence. She claims that it will protect those inside from magical spells as potent as Fireball or Lightning Bolt.
Ivy tucks her mace into her belt and takes hold of her Holy Symbol. She holds it proudly forth and calls upon Azrella to dispatch the undead rushing towards her. The five undead closest to Ivy are blasted out of existence.
Crysania casts True Sight upon herself. Thus far the Priestess notes nothing that is not as it appears. Grasping her battle-axe, Crysania moves up to fight alongside of Validar.
Chareos was directed to magically attack the source of evil magic that Serena earlier detected. The source was on the second floor of a nearby dwelling. Not having a Fireball or a Lightning Bolt available, the noble mage uses another tactic. He conjures a flat Wall of Ice over the roof of the dwelling as high up as he can. The ice materializes out of nothing, and then predictably it falls!
The solid sheet of ice slams into the building's roof, causing it to collapse. Timbers and wooden planks snap and crash down in the second floor of the building! Cries and moans of pain are heard from those inside.
Lyonessa casts a Monster Summoning spell and six orcs appear out of nowhere. The Songstress directs them to help battle the approaching horde. At last, they have arrived!

Sir Acerion lands his Pegasus behind the barn. He dismounts as soon as the steed touches down and then sends him flying off once more. The first barn is now deserted of any of the undead. They all rushed out the front.
Stepping into the barn, Sir Acerion holds his Holy Weapon at the ready. Up in the loft overhead, he can see Yusef rushing a follower of Hextor! Further behind there is an attractive woman wearing black robes with white skin and hair. She holds a staff carved from one large bone in her hands.
Yusef dashes forward, lashing out quickly with his hands and feet. Two blows connect solidly, but seem to do little more than just force Lord Baracus back. It felt like Yusef was kicking stone!
Lord Baracus lashes out with his blood red longsword. It is easy to tell that he has great skill with the blade. Yusef avoids the first attack, but cannot sidestep the second. The blade cuts deep, doing some damage. But that was not the worst of it. The blood from the wound somehow ignites and bursts into flames! This would be extremely painful if Yusef could be harmed by fire.
Close up, Yusef cannot help but notice now what he found unusual about Lord Baracus’s face. Make up was used to cover it up! But in the heat of battle, it has started to crack. What lies below is a hideous, nearly mummified looking face! Yusef cannot help but wonder if Lord Baracus is really alive!
Sir Acerion can see two ladders, one close to him, the other on the far side of the barn that leads up to the loft where the enemies are.
Back at the main group, Serena uses the flames from Argent’s Fireball to summon a Fire Elemental using her magical staff. The fires twirl into a sixteen-foot tall sheet of flame! A pair of what appears to be arms lash out from the main body like some kind of fiery serpents. Those undead they strike are burned to a crisp. The Fire Elemental moves closer to the main group, destroying any undead in its path.
Sir Corley awaits the wave of undead as they arrive. Their numbers are rapidly dropping as the Fire Elemental stomps them, but plenty remain. Two of the monsters are slain in as many strikes from his Greatsword, but others swarm the Knight trying to claw and bite him. One bite does penetrate a weak spot in Sir Corley’s armor and the young knight's blood does burn!
Lyonessa and Ivy invoke the power of their goddess once more. Azrella responds by destroying nine of the undead, while Mystra forces 7 of the intruders to retreat.
On the other side of the formation, Baron Validar, Crysania, and half a dozen orcs are attacked by the undead. The Baron slays two of the creatures right off and is swarmed over by many others. Crysania also dispatches two of the invaders, but is attacked by many more. Both combatants only take one claw each, as their armor seems to hold the invaders safely at bay.

From out of nowhere, a pair of Magic Missiles streak onto the battlefield, striking Baron Validar. His Broach of Shielding harmlessly absorbs them. While trying to discover the source of this attack, the Baron spots a forked Lightning Bolt emerging from the window of the general store across the street!
The Lightning Bolt strikes Validar, but amazingly it does him no harm! Those undead around him are not as fortunate as they are quickly destroyed! The bolt strikes the ground and ricochets at an odd angle. It strikes an unsuspecting Ivy before flying harmlessly off.
Then a second volley of attacks come from another building on that side of the street. A pair of Magic Missiles slam into Crysania and a second Lightning Bolt strikes Validar. This time the Baron takes some damage from the attack, but nothing that would slow him down. The bolt's ricochet just narrowly misses Lyonessa.
From the other side of the street, another pair of attacks is fired off. A pair of Magic Missiles and a forked Lightning Bolt strikes Sir Corley. The bolt destroys most of the undead it strikes and rebounds with the ground. But this time Serena sees the danger and steps into her Minor Globe for protection. The bolt harmlessly dissipates upon striking the magical globe.
All of the ranged magical attacks came from the second floors of buildings in town.
Sherra rushes back into the general store and goes up the back stairs. Sounds draw her towards the front of the building. Curtains cover all the windows on the second floor and it is quite dark inside. Moving down a hallway, Sherra comes to the door to the room that sits on the front of the building. On this upper level are the living chambers for the storeowner.
Peering into the front room, Sherra sees a trio of small (5’ tall at most) of slim figures holding wands out the windows. They are watching intently what is going on out on the street below. With what little light there is, Sherra can’t help but recognize the attackers. They are drow!

Battle for Wrasseldown...
Baron Validar -
The battle heats up as the Guardians take a defensive stance. More of the monstrosities are killed by magick. Chareos manages to take out the building that Serena indicated, dropping a hunk of ice upon it. Validar notes the damage with grim satisfaction. He keeps a mental thought that there may still be survivors there. A Fire Elemental forms out of the flames of a Fireball and destroys more of the undead. Slowly they are making some progress in defeating this enemy.
The undead reach them and begin to swarm about them. A few fall, but the horde is very large and seems to have only a small dent put in their numbers. Then more attackers show their presence, if only by the magick spells going off around them.
Validar sees a pair of Magic Missiles streak towards him. He has been on the receiving end of this spell several times before, but this time he is prepared. He ignores the bolts as they are absorbed by the Broach of Shielding he wears.
Looking around for the source of that attack, he sees a forked Lightning Bolt erupt out of the storefront across the way. "Incoming," he shouts, as he steadies himself against the electrical burst. It rips into the area around him but Validar feels no shock, no concussive force, nothing. The undead around him are ripped to pieces and felled entirely however. On him, the magick has had no effect. Validar smiles to himself as the realization hits him.
Not one to ignore an opportunity, the Baron begins to move towards the storefront as another volley comes in. More Magic Missiles and another Lightning Bolt. This time the missiles strike Crysania and the bolt zaps into Validar. This time he feels the effects, but only slightly.
"We have other foes in the buildings around us! It was an ambush!" Validar shouts, hoping some can hear him over the roar of the battle. "In the upper stories!" he shouts as he continues to advance on the closest building. "Try to keep taking out the undead in large amounts, if able!" There are many foes now, and time to silence the most dangerous. The priests and mages should be able to deal with the undead. "Any more barricades to slow down the hordes would prove helpful!"
Fortunately, the enemy attacks have cleared the way for him and Validar moves quickly to the storefront and enters before more undead can reach him. He circles around the summoned orcs and enters the building to the right, heading for the stairwell and up to confront the foes there.

Conquer or Die!
tough odds..
Sherra:
Not ever bothering learning the fine arts of the backstab, Sherra doubts even with the skill that she could take on the other two by herself. She's pretty confident she could kill or severely wound one since they aren't even aware of her yet. Sherra seriously doubts Tymora would be so generous in allowing her a complete victory however.
Therefore, she tries a different gambit. Reaching quietly for her oil flask, she pours it out onto the floor, covering as much as possible, and hopefully some of it will reach the trio's feet. Regardless of if it does or not, being trapped in a burning room should cause a decent distraction.
Sherra will use her flint and steel and ignite the oil, a little trail just outside of the door. Once the oil is ablaze, she will draw her magical dagger to use on the first drow that tries to rush past the flames to escape. Should they not leave the burning room, Sherra will vacate the building before she risks being consumed herself.
Sherra can't believe her eyes. Drow? She's heard stories but has never seen one before. Still, even in the limited light, she's very certain that's exactly what the trio before her is.Peering into the front room, Sherra sees a trio of small (5’ tall at most) of slim figures holding wands out the windows. They are watching intently what is going on out on the street below. With what little light there is, Sherra can’t help but recognize the attackers. They are drow!

Chareos
Chareos watches as the Wall of Ice appears out of nowhere then drops without a sound upon the building. With little to no effort the ice breaks the house as cries and screams of pain are heard from within. “Cowards, You deserve such a fate,” he says harshly as the ongoing chaos erupts in fire and flame as a fireball goes off and then a construct of Fire forms and lashes out with fiery limbs BBQing anything that it touches.
Out of nowhere Magic Missiles and a Lightning Bolt fire out of nowhere striking Sir Corley as he battles with the oncoming wave. Growling, “ I grow tired of these cowards. They shall not strike again…” He says as he begins to recite the words to his second Ice Wall spell. He will do the same as before though with one minor change: he will make it so ¾ of the ice wall is over the building while the other ¼ is over the approaching horde and drop it upon the roof..
Depending on the effects of said action, this will determine his next action. If the building comes down he will Cast Agannazar’s Scorcher and target any who come close. If the Ice Wall exposes the drow, and they are still a threat he will cast Iron Spikes and spread them through the drow he can see. Though if he realizes he cannot get a spell off he will whack anything that comes close with his quarterstaff.
For the next round if needed, Chareos will take his staff to any of the creatures that draw close to him and whack them with his Quarterstaff.

Serena
Serena:
Using the fires from a Fireball, Serena summons a Fire Elemental using her Staff of Fire. The vaguely humanoid pillar of fire burns its way through the hordes of undead. Then the source of the evil magic she sensed earlier reveals itself. Magical attacks are launched from the nearby buildings.
Serena will cast Wall of Iron, erecting it so that it seals off the area between the Blade Barrier and the closest building. She’ll make sure that the Fire Elemental is on the other side of the wall, so that it can continue to destroy the undead.
Once that task is accomplished, Serena will move to her left slightly to get a good look down the side of the building where the first Wall of Ice collapsed the roof. There she’ll cast a Web to block that alleyway, further delaying the approaching undead.

“I’ll erect another barricade and force the undead to move amongst the houses,” Serena calls out. “Then we can use Web spells to further block them in between the buildings!”"We have other foes in the buildings around us!

Knight of the Mystic Fire
Sir Corley
Sir Corley:
“Their bite is poisonous!” The knight calls out, alerting his comrades. Ignoring the burning sensations, Sir Corley continues to stand ready for battle.
Enemy spells strike the knight twice, but he remains standing. Those undead around him are not as fortunate. Sir Corley stands ready to dispatch any foe that moves within reach of his Greatsword.
Sir Corley is pleased with how easily his new sword dispatches the enemy, but many more remain. His armor protects him from the fiends’ claws and bite attempts, but one does manage to break through. The wound burns, as if on fire!Sir Corley awaits the wave of undead as they arrive.

We fight for King and Country!
Ivy
Ivy:
“These undead are more powerful than the hordes we’ve battled before! I can only destroy a handful at a time!”
Another option does come to Ivy, but one that must wait until the appropriate time. Words about erecting more barriers reach her ears, and Ivy does have a spell that will help in that regard. Seeing that the Serena is concentrating on the southern end of the Blade Barrier, Ivy will cast Spike Growth in the area between the north end of the barrier and the houses.
“Do not enter that area,” Ivy calls out. “While you cannot see them, dangers lurk in the ground that make passage difficult.”
After that Ivy will return to destroying the undead with her Words of Azrella.
So intent upon destroying the approaching undead, Ivy doesn’t realize that she’s in danger until the attack strikes her, doing great harm. The attack snaps her back into reality and she chastises herself for not entering the Minor Globe earlier. The Lightning Bolt strikes Validar, but amazingly it does him no harm! Those undead around him are not as fortunate as they are quickly destroyed! The bolt strikes the ground and ricochets at an odd angle. It strikes an unsuspecting Ivy before flying harmlessly off.

Argent
Argent:
“That was ingenious,” Argent mentally compliments, unsure just exactly who did that. It had to be one of the two new priestesses, as Argent believes such a spell beyond the abilities of her regular comrades.
Seeing that so much attention is being given to this prong of the undead horde, Argent flies further north. Once in range, She’ll hit the other group between the two barriers with a Ice Storm.
As she’s casting the spell, Argent sees the attacks coming from the upper floors of multiple buildings. Magic Missiles and Lightning Bolts are being fired at the main group!
Argent considers using her last Fireball in memory, but another idea hits her first. Flying closer to the northwest building, Argent will deliberately try to get their attention in hopes of being attacked by them! Should any Magic Missiles or Lightning Bolts come her way, Argent will absorb them using her tiara. Then she’ll use the stolen spell energy to send a Fireball back to the unseen attackers.
As Argent watches the effects of her spell, she sees a Fire Elemental summoned using the flames of her Fireball.Hovering overhead, Argent can see much of the battle below unfolding.

I am an Invoker of no small power.
Crysania
Crysania:
The Priestess of Heironeous engages the hideous undead with her magical battleaxe. Hand-to-hand combat is more her forte than spell casting. She has a Holy Word ready, but there is little sense in using it unless completely surrounded by the undead. It would take out too little of the enemy to be of any strategic use right now.
A pair of Magic Missile launched by an unseen attacker damages Crysania. One of the undead claws her, but neither of these will stop Crysania. She sees Baron Validar rush off to somewhere, but decides to hold her ground here. Should she have a small respite from being attacked, Crysania will cast Protection From Evil 10’ Radius. Otherwise she’ll attack using her axe.

Lyonessa:
Lyonessa casts a Monster Summoning spell and six orcs appear out of nowhere. The Songstress directs them to help battle the approaching horde. At last, they have arrived!
Lyonessa and Ivy invoke the power of their goddess once more. Azrella responds by destroying nine of the undead, while Mystra forces 7 of the intruders to retreat.
orcs, well at least they'll be more helpful then rats again! Lyonessa thinks as she directs them to form up to face the coming horde. Then she invokes the word of her goddess and several of the undead flee from such divinity.
Magic spells are flying everywhere and Lyonessa thinks she spies an elemental enter the fray! It is a lot to keep track of and she doesn't realize just how close she came to getting hit by a bolt of lightning.
The undead just keep coming and Lyonessa knows the orcs will be overrun in moments. Validar shouts about an ambush from the side buildings and rushes off, presumably to try to deal with them. Lyonessa ponders just what to do next, then the idea strikes.
Lyonessa casts Confusion into the horde, away from the immediate ranks being attacked. With any luck they will begin to fight among themselves or just wander about. Anything to slow the tide and maybe clog it up a bit.

Battle for Wrasseldown...
Baron Validar -
After the enemy attacks on their ambush, the Guardians begin their counter-attack. As Validar moves out, he hears the effects of more spells. Another Wall of Ice crashes into a building from above, Validar sees as he glances back and to his left an Ice Storm hits the enemy.
Circling around the summoned orcs as they engage the undead, the Baron sees Argent move in before the buildings, an inviting target. He is about to shout a warning, when he realizes that she must be goading the enemy. Ivy may have been taken by surprise by the Lightning Bolt, but Argent likely has a trick up her sleeve. Even better, it should draw attention away from him and give him more opportunity to reach this enemy.
He just hears Ivy say to avoid the ground to the left and one more quick glance shows a few barricades going up. That is good, he thinks. The longer they can delay the horde of undead reaching hand to hand combat range, the more likely they can destroy them all and still concentrate on properly dealing with the other enemies here. Validar is his usual confident self, despite the ambush and the unknown leaders danger.

The Path to Redemption?
Yusef:
Yusef encounters his great-aunt and a companion in the loft of the first barn and battle is joined.
Yusef catches Baracus with a backfist to the side of the head, which appears to do no damage than the kick. "How about you? Why are you here? Last I heard, Alexander had used you as his plaything. That cannot have been pleasant."
As best he can tell, Baracus' skin is even tougher than his own. At first, it occurs to him that he may have that spell, Stoneskin, that Sherwood seems so fond of on him. Then he gets a good look at the so-called lord and realizes that he must be an undead of some kind. Most likely, he can only be affected by magic weapons, and probably more powerful ones than Yusef has access to.
Just then, Baracus manages to catch Yusef with his sword! His skill must be tremendous, as Yusef knows just how hard he is to hit. The sword causes his blood to combust, but fortunately, that doesn't bother him at all thanks to his own demonic heritage.
At this point, it seems Yusef's best strategy is to get the sword away from Baracus. Thus, Yusef switches to fighting defensively, looking for an opportunity to block one of his opponent's attacks and trap the weapon or disarm him.

I'm assuming it is possible to disarm an attacker, or at least trap a weapon in such a way as it cannot be used to attack. If Yusef can get the sword away from Baracus, that would be optimal.
Yusef encounters his great-aunt and a companion in the loft of the first barn and battle is joined.
"I'm Yusef, one of Daniel's sons," Yusef replies as he kicks the one she called Lord Baracus in the chest. "As for why I am here, let's just say I didn't take kindly to being a slave, so I ran away."Thelma wrote:“Who are you?” The woman demands, her eyes narrowing. “Yes, you are of the true blood… But you’re not one of mine. Why are you here? With them?”

Acerion
Sir Acerion:
Stepping into the barn, Sir Acerion holds his Holy Weapon at the ready. Up in the loft overhead, he can see Yusef rushing a follower of Hextor! Further behind there is an attractive woman wearing black robes with white skin and hair. She holds a staff carved from one large bone in her hands.
Acerion spies the two leaders, noting with distaste that one displays the symbol of Hextor. Yusef is already engaged with the warrior however, and the woman holding a staff could easily be a priestess or mage. Acerion can not allow her to begin casting spells.
Sir Acerion can see two ladders, one close to him, the other on the far side of the barn that leads up to the loft where the enemies are.
Acerion will try to determine if the ladder closest to him will offer a way to get to the enemies. If not, the paladin will cross the distance and climb the ladder up to the loft.
