By now everyone has become accustomed to using the Stone House to travel about the kingdom. Lady Jallarzi Sallavarian does the honors this time, reappearing deep inside Castle Pyris. The staff is alerted to her arrival and the Baron’s audience hall is chosen as the place to let those inside the Stone House out.
The door to the Stone House opens once more and you exit into the spacious audience hall. The Duke and Duchess are present, along with some of their staff. Validar’s younger sister, the Lady Rachel, is present as well. Greetings and introductions are exchanged.
The Stone House is then taken outside where the mounts can be transferred into the castle stables. Once that task is complete, Jallarzi teleports away again with the Stone House, but will return alone later this evening.
A feast is planned for all this evening, with a formal dinner to be held tomorrow night after the Ceremony of Transfer is completed.
The chill in the air is not as noticeable this time when compared to your last visit to Pyris. Perhaps the Cold One’s hold over this land has been broken once and for all.
GM Notes:
Welcome back to Pyris! Short post, but there should be a lot to discuss. Some of the planning has already begun over in the Cynalon Knight’s post. Use this post to cover any business in Pyris.
Plans are in place to have the Ceremony of Transfer to be held tomorrow evening. The following morning Duke Relon will begin his journey towards Elcadan, by way of the Barony of Ansimont. Castle Pyris is sizeable, but not large enough to handle this many guests. Rooms at nearby inns have already been arranged for those who wish their privacy.
Duke Relon will wish to speak to his son in private once the meeting and greeting has concluded.
Now what?

Sir Corley
Sir Corley:
Sir Corley steps out into the audience hall of Castle Pyris. He has been here many times before, but this is the first since he gained Knighthood. Much has happened since his last visit. Seeing Duke Relon, he steps up to the man and shakes his hand.
“Congratulations are in order, your grace. It is an honor to be recognized by the King for such an important role.”
“My sincerest congratulations to you, Duchess Lysandra”, the Knight offers, kissing her hand. “My you both rule with wisdom.”
Stepping aside, Sir Corley will say hello to the Lady Rachel. She will, no doubt, tease him about something. After that, Corley will make sure that his mounts are properly stabled and cared for.
Corley will then stop at his usual guest chambers here in Castle Pyris where his extra clothing is stored and change. He’ll clean up and have his soiled laundry cleaned by the staff. Afterwards, he’ll wonder about seeing what else is going on.

Argent
Argent:
Argent’s never been to Castle Pyris before, so it’s a new experience for her. Truth be told, she’s only passed through Pyris a few times in her life, so the area is mostly new to her. The city was pleasant and the innkeepers known for their hospitality.
Before leaving Karn’s Keep, Argent had cleaned up her best dress for the occasion. When introduced to the Duke and Duchess, Argent will curtsey properly and say, “An honor to meet you, your grace.”
When the issue of space comes up, Argent will suggest to Chareos, “Let’s take a room at an Inn. It’ll be a bit more private. Besides, I have some shopping I wish to do before the formal gala tomorrow night. I must simply find a dress befitting the occasion.”
As soon as is proper, Argent will excuse herself, seek out a room for the evening, and go forth to see what goods can be had in town.

I am an Invoker of no small power.
Chareos
Stepping from the stone house Chareos looks about seeing Castle Pyris. Never has he seen within the walls and he takes a moment to take in the scenery. It was not long ago that the Guardians were formed here; a time he looked back on, seeing faces and hearing voices he had forgotten. “It seems our journey has come full circle,” he says to Argent. “It has been some time since the Guardians have seen this land.”
Chareos will approach the Duke and Duchess gripping his staff with one hand and bowing with the other about his chest. “It is an honor and a pleasure, your grace. Congratulations on your accomplishments. May your rule be long and fruitful.”
Later on, when Sharadin is free, Chareos will approach him and ask, “I have no need of a magic sling any longer though it has served me well. Would you know of anyone who would care for such a weapon, or a place that would purchase it?”
“Perhaps, I could join you for a time in your shopping spree. Something may catch my eye, whether it be for myself or that matches your tiara.”

“Aye, that would be for the best. I’m a bit concerned about this gala. Never before have I set foot in such a place. In fact I would be hard pressed to find something to wear for such an occasion,” he says evenly. When the issue of space comes up, Argent will suggest to Chareos, “Let’s take a room at an Inn. To serve and protect those who cannot.
Pyris
Baron Validar -
The groups appear in Castle Pyris and Validar welcomes his friends and greets the Duke and Duchess.
"Welcome all to Castle Pyris. I trust your stay will be a pleasant one."
He will approach the Duke and Duchess, offering his hand to his father and a hug to his mother. "It is good to be back again. I trust all is well? Our mission was met with incredible success. Keln has been delivered a blow that shall not be recovered from for some considerable time."
He will also wish his sister well. "How have you been, sister? Any new adventures on the horizon?"
Validar will then turn to his guests. "Duke and Duchess, may I present to you a number of my friends and associates. Some are from the Guardians formed recently by Lord Sherwood and some other are from my old group in Gateway, the Seekers. Still others, such as Crysania and Serena are newer associates of ours here to assist in the claiming of Elcadan and the opposition of our foes."
"From the Guardians, there is Sir Acerion of Heironeous, Lady Ivy of Azrella, Lady Sherra, Lady Argent, Lord Chareos, Lady Lyonessa of Mystra, Yusef ibn Nerita bint Falawi Al-Rashid and of course, you know Sir Corley."
"Some of my adventuring companions from the Seekers incude DarThaltus, Araduin, Arocken, Bernice and Blod. Blod's wife has agreed to be my new magist and will be arriving at the castle shortly after making plans to relocate her family here."
"You both know the healer Elspeth of Azrella and Lady Sallavarian requires no introduction in these halls."
Validar is pleased to hear about the feast. It will be a moment to forget about the plans needed and enjoy himself, his lady and the company of friends and family.
"I see that the weather has softened somewhat. The defeat of the Cold Maiden has born fruit even in our lands!"
Duke Relon will wish to speak to his son in private once the meeting and greeting has concluded.
"Everyone please make yourselves at home. Those who wish to take up rooms at the inns can be escorted properly should you desire. Anyone staying here in the castle will have attendants lead them to their rooms."
"Lady Gabriella, if you would excuse me for a moment. The Duke wishes to discuss matters of state." He gives her a quick kiss on her cheek and then whispers, "I cannot wait when you shall join me in such meetings as baroness, my love." He escorts her by the arm to the exit of the Audience Hall. There guards and an attendant are waiting to aid Gabriella is whatever she should need.
With the hall emptied of all but some guards and the Master of the Guard, Validar approaches the Duke once more. "How may I be of assistance, father?"
Duke Relon furrows his brow slightly before speaking. "It has come to my attention that the caravans from Elcadan are being detained, on your orders."
"Indeed," Validar will respond. "You were explicit in that they should nto be seized and only cargos which are illegal are being confiscated. Otherwise, the cavalry squadrons are simply conducting inspections."
"Are these inspections meant to hinder the caravans coming from Elcadan?"
"Absolutely," Validar answers. "The large caravans are being searched more thoroughly. Guild Caravans, especially so. The smaller independant caravans are checked at the border and allowed to pass. As long as one is not hiding or smuggling anything, they should have nothing to worry about. The Guild Caravans are being looked at with an especially thorough eye."
"I had been getting word of some grumblings about these inspections. Can you assure me that the common people simply trying to earn a living are being treated fairly?"
"Indeed I can, Duke. The inspections are necessary for all caravans, otherwise we can be accused of favoritism or particular targeting of Elcadan. If all caravans are stopped, there is no special treatment. The common merchants tend to have smaller caravans and more common products, while the Guild Merchants have their own caravans, guards and wagons, and also carry the more extravagant goods. So we are being fair at the same time we are not hindering those we have no reason to affect."
Duke Relon thinks for a time. "It is a fair proposition. Perhaps not what I would have done, my son."
"I imagine not," Validar says, trying to surpress the smallest of smiles. "When the Duke is safely in control of Elcadan and the Merchant Board is disbanded and the guilds operating fairly, we shall stop the inspections. In the meantime, perhaps we can have certain merchants who pass through regularly awarded a certificate which allows them quicker passage. Would that ease your grace's mind further.
"Acceptable," the Duke responds. "What other business is there that I should be aware of?"
"Some of my companions are on the hunt for the Deville family and prepared to exterminate them. They will travel with us to Ansimont and then on to the coast Lake Amsorak near Akorros. I am confident that they shall defeat this vile enemy and remove them from our path. Further, another group consisting of some of my old compnanions from Gateway, the Seekers, will be heading directly to Elcadan with Lady Sallavarian's assistance, as well as that of the priestess Elspeth of Azrella."
"They will be making contact with some of the priesthoods there as well as various contacts provided by Jallarzi. I do not wish to ride into Elcadan without knowing the climate there and having some preparation done before we arrive."
"I have a few questions of my own," Validar says. "Have we been able to increase our ranks of soldiers much as yet? Also I have sent word of hiring of mercenary bands to join our forces. How many troops will be travelling with us on the road and how many of the current staff are going with you to Elcadan?"
Later, Validar will make the rounds of the Castle, meeting with Captains and ascertaining the state of the military readiness. He will have Dellant accompany him on the journey in order to have him learn more of the operation of the castle and also to have him report on his tasks' progress.
Before dinner, Validar will meet up with Lady Angelina and Lady Vera. "Well met, ladies. I trust you are both well. Lady Ardel, I want you to know that with the success of our mission in new Keln and the subsequent successes that we had at Fort Fletcher and in defeating the Citadel of the Cold Maiden, that we have helped to stabilize not only the weatern lands, but all of Cynalon. Further, there is a dwarven expedition based at Fort Fletcher which seeks to reclaim Hammerfall and other dwarven holdings in the area. It each a step towards progress."
"For now, our focus is on the transition of power in Elcadan to the new duke, Relon. Once that is complete, we shall renew our efforts to conquer the enemy inhabiting Ardelphia and drive them from our land. A stronger Elcadan will only serve to strengthen the area and allow us more opportunity to reclaim Stone Ridge. Each day brings us closer to placing you upon her throne once more."
"But for now, a hope you will both be my guests for the Transfer Ceremony tomorrow. It is an important event for Pyris and I am sure that it will be an extraordinary night of food and celebration."
Saying goodbye to them, Validar will continue to review various reports and notifications, until he locates Gabriella to escort her to the feast. "A vision of loveliness, as always, my dearest," he says as he takes her hand and kisses it. They head to the Grand Hall, arm in arm, chatting along the way.

Yusef:
They arrive at Validar's home, Castle Pyris. Stepping out of the Stone House, Yusef gazes about. At least this place doesn't have the exaggerated dimentions of Karn's Keep. Nevertheless, it appears to be filled with more nobles he doesn't know - not a comfortable place for a former slave.
"A pleasure to meet you, your lordships," Yusef replies with a bow when introduced to the Duke and Duchess. He has no idea if it's the proper greeting, but it's the best he can come up with at the moment.
As soon as the opportunity presents itself, Yusef will slip away and hunt down on the attendants Validar mentioned. Hopefully, he can find someone who can tell him how to go about getting his weapons silvered and how much it will cost. To some extent, the issue of cost concerns him as he is not a rich man.

The Right Honorable the Lord Pyris Baron Validar Van Arkus
Seeing that many of the group are uncomfortable about their dress for the gala, or rather the lack thereof, Validar is certain that the social customs of such an occassion might also elude most of them. Having grown up in such a situation, it all seems quite normal and natural to him, but most of his friends are either not nobles at all or just recently received such rank. Validar will have the attendants be certain to give them each a primer on titles, addresses and social customs so that the level of embarassment is lessened.
Hearing Yusef address the Duke and Duchess as a lower rank, Validar is sure of it. He does not react in order not to embarrasshis friend, and a quick glance to his parents shows no reaction on their part as well.
------------------------------
A quick mention of the titles in Cynalon and their addresses:
King or Queen - Your Majesty or Your Highness
Duke or Duchess - Your Grace (Duke means literally "to lead")
Baron or Baroness - Often refered to as the Lord of (Barony), full title would be The Right Honorable the Lord (Barony). May be refered to as My Lord or My Lady by a peer.
Knights - Sir
Lord - My lord or my lady, also known as milord or milady (although generally these are reserved for upper crust non-nobles or used by one of higher rank towards a lord)

GM Note:
To follow up on Validar's post above, I put together a file that lays out all the social rankings in Cynalon and how they are properly addressed. It's in the Articles section of the private area. Also new there is the start of a Master List for NWP's used in the game. That information is part of a database I'm building to handle NWP's on your sheets.

Plans while in Pyris...
Baron Validar -
The Baron has started to walk away from Lady Ardel and Lady Angelina when a thought comes to his mind, nearly forgotten.
Taking his cure from Lady Gabriella's suggestion the previous day, Validar will also ask Lady Ardel to attend a special lunch with himself and some others to discuss plans for Stone Ridge.
"I had nearly forgotten, miladies," Validar says, returning to their side, leaving Dellant aside for the moment. "Lady Gabriella as the head diplomat for Pyris and the new Duke of Elcadan as well, has recommended that we have an informal meeting in order to begin to discuss plans for the restoration of Stone Ridge. It would be pleasant to make a brunch of it, I should think, for tomorrow. We can further inform you of plans and also clarify some expectations in this endeavor."
"I have invited Sir Acerion, as his family had holdings in Ardelphia long ago, as well as Priestess Ivy of Azrella. Sir Corley and Lady Allonica will also be joining us. Lady Angelina, of course, you are welcome to be present as well. We will meet in the private study here in the castle, in the morning. It will be an informal gathering, especially with the events to follow tomorrow afternoon."
Validar will bow slightly to the ladies as he once more takes his leave. Catching up to his herald Dellant once more, the two head off in the opposite direction. "Sir Corley is staying in the Castle as are Lady Ivy and Sir Acerion, I believe. Please have them delivered proper invitations as soon as possible to this meeting tomorrow morning. Lady Gabriella will be attending of course. I will have the staff informed as to our requirements. If you have the time available, it would do well for you to attend as well."
Validar will address the cook staff at some point during the evening to inform them of the impending brunch meal. They will require a minimum of staff to bring the food and will serve themselves, in order to allow as little a disruption as possible to the more grand festivities to come.

Arrival in Pyris:
The Guardians have returned to Pyris, where their adventures began many weeks ago. This time they arrive inside Castle Pyris, the home of the Baron of Pyris. They exit the Stone House in the Baron’s Audience Hall. Baron Validar handles the introductions.
“Welcome home, my son,” Duchess Lysandra adds.
“You honor me, Your Grace,” Crysania answers.
Polite greetings are exchanged between the Duke and Serena.
“And you were trained by Lord Sharadin, correct?” The Duchess adds.
The rest of the introductions are made and everyone proceeds to settle in. There will be an informal feast this evening for all to attend. It’ll be a chance to relax, enjoy some good food, and exchange tales.
“Word of your exploits has only been trickling in thus far,” Duke Relon explains. “I look forward to hearing the full story over this evening's feast.”Baron Validar wrote:He will approach the Duke and Duchess, offering his hand to his father and a hug to his mother. "It is good to be back again. I trust all is well? Our mission was met with incredible success. Keln has been delivered a blow that shall not be recovered from for some considerable time."
“Welcome home, my son,” Duchess Lysandra adds.
“One big one,” the Lady Rachel answers with a grin. “I’ll be joining you on the ride to Elcadan. I wouldn’t want to miss out on all the excitement!”Baron Validar wrote:He will also wish his sister well. "How have you been, sister? Any new adventures on the horizon?"
“Your reputation precedes you, priestess.” The Duke says to Crysania. “I welcome your participation in our efforts.”Baron Validar wrote:Validar will then turn to his guests. "Duke and Duchess, may I present to you a number of my friends and associates. Some are from the Guardians formed recently by Lord Sherwood and some are from my old group in Gateway, the Seekers. Still others, such as Crysania and Serena are newer associates of ours here to assist in the claiming of Elcadan and the opposition of our foes."
“You honor me, Your Grace,” Crysania answers.
Polite greetings are exchanged between the Duke and Serena.
“Ah, yes, the Heroes of Corunglain,” Duke Relon states. “I bid you welcome to Pyris and offer thanks for your continued efforts. You will always be welcomed in my domain.”Baron Validar wrote:"From the Guardians, there is Sir Acerion of Heironeous, Lady Ivy of Azrella, Lady Sherra, Lady Argent, Lord Chareos, Lady Lyonessa of Mystra, Yusef ibn Nerita bint Falawi Al-Rashid and of course, you know Sir Corley."
“And to you as well, Sir Corley.” Duke Relon replies. “It is also an honor to be knighted for your efforts. I am sure that your father is extremely proud of your accomplishments.”Sir Corley wrote:"Congratulations are in order, your grace. It is an honor to be recognized by the King for such an important role."
“Thank you, Corley,” the Duchess answers. “You’ve grown into quite a young man right before our eyes.”Sir Corley wrote:"My sincerest congratulations to you, Duchess Lysandra", the Knight offers, kissing her hand. "My you both rule with wisdom."
“You’re Jallarzi’s student, are you not?” The Duchess inquires. “My niece has spoken highly of you.”Argent wrote:Before leaving Karn's Keep, Argent had cleaned up her best dress for the occasion. When introduced to the Duke and Duchess, Argent will curtsey properly and say, "An honor to meet you, your grace."
“Welcome to Pyris, Lord Chareos,” the Duke intones.Chareos wrote:Chareos will approach the Duke and Duchess gripping his staff with one hand and bowing with the other about his chest. "It is an honor and a pleasure, your grace. Congratulations on your accomplishments. May your rule be long and fruitful.”
“And you were trained by Lord Sharadin, correct?” The Duchess adds.
“I bid you welcome, Yusef,” the Duke replies.Yusef wrote:"A pleasure to meet you, your lordships," Yusef replies with a bow when introduced to the Duke and Duchess. He has no idea if it's the proper greeting, but it's the best he can come up with at the moment.
The rest of the introductions are made and everyone proceeds to settle in. There will be an informal feast this evening for all to attend. It’ll be a chance to relax, enjoy some good food, and exchange tales.
“Yes, it has been most pleasant the last few days,” the Duke answers. “The snow has even melted. Our ride will be chilly, but will not be under freezing conditions. This can only be a good sign.”Baron Validar wrote:"I see that the weather has softened somewhat. The defeat of the Cold Maiden has born fruit even in our lands!"

Speaking with the Duke:
After the initial arrival, Validar has a conversation with his father.
“More than a few of the local nobles have inquired about your retaining Squires. There are a few worthy young men and women among them. Perhaps you and your fellow knights will have the chance to meet them before we leave?”
“I would be leery of hiring mercenary bands at this time, my son. They are only loyal to gold and that is the one area where the Merchants of Elcadan are our betters. It is my fear that any such band might be secretly in their employ and determined to undermine our efforts from within. I feel that with the increase in recruits, hiring such bands will not be necessary.”
“My plan is to have two units of cavalry ride with us,” the Duke explains. “One unit will be broken down into four groups. The first group will ride ahead of us, the other behind. The rest of them will flank the main procession and all will be on guard for ambushes. The second unit will ride with the main body and surround the carriage bearing your mother and the Lady Sallavarian. I will personally ride with the men. I would imagine that your associates would be spread out amongst the procession.”
“As for my staff, for the time being I’ll only be taking a few individuals with me. You’ll need to decide who the members of your staff will be. During your ride, they’ll be tutored by those who will eventually be going with me. Once conditions in Elcadan are safe enough, I’ll have more and more of my staff brought in. Plus, they’ll be able to handle things here in Pyris while we are both away. The Lady Gwendolyn will be remaining here for the time being and can be consulted if need be.””
After the initial arrival, Validar has a conversation with his father.
“Words of you and your friends exploits have reached the people’s ear,” the Duke answers. “Our recruitment rate has increased greatly, but it will take time to properly train them. But these new men will help serve as a home guard during this time.”Baron Validar wrote:"I have a few questions of my own," Validar says. "Have we been able to increase our ranks of soldiers much as yet? Also I have sent word of hiring of mercenary bands to join our forces. How many troops will be traveling with us on the road and how many of the current staff are going with you to Elcadan?"
“More than a few of the local nobles have inquired about your retaining Squires. There are a few worthy young men and women among them. Perhaps you and your fellow knights will have the chance to meet them before we leave?”

The military is on full alert. The Captains will congratulate Validar on his recent successes and wish him well with his future endeavors. The majority of the new recruits will most likely be foot soldiers. A few show promise for the cavalry and others seem to have some skill with the Pyrisian Ballista.Baron Validar wrote:Later, Validar will make the rounds of the Castle, meeting with Captains and ascertaining the state of the military readiness. He will have Dellant accompany him on the journey in order to have him learn more of the operation of the castle and also to have him report on his tasks' progress.
“I will see to it immediately, my lord,” Dellant smartly answers. “I would be honored to attend your gathering.”Baron Validar wrote:Catching up to his herald Dellant once more, the two head off in the opposite direction.

That Evening:
The rest of the day passes pleasantly enough for the guests at Castle Pyris. Those seeking proper clothing for tomorrow's gala can either be attended to by the castle staff or seek out such garments in town.
Right before departing for the evening feast, Sir Corley, Sir Acerion, and Lady Ivy will have the invitations for tomorrow's brunch delivered to them.
The feast is pleasant enough and relaxing. The food is good and filling. Numerous stories are traded and a good time is had by all.
The hit of the feast is the Lady Gwendolyn, the aged mother of the new Duke and daughter of the first Baron of Pyris, the original Validar. Lady Gwendolyn is still fit for her advanced age. The tales she spins of her father’s exploits and the times during the Great War are riveting.
The day is far more hectic for Baron Validar and his betrothed. Numerous meetings are held and many details have to be worked out. Lady Gabriella spends much time with Duchess Lysandra.
“I am sure I can find a home for it, Lord Chareos. What would you wish in return for it?”

Unfortunately, Lord Sharadin is not present here. However the request can be taken to Lady Sallavarian instead.Chareos wrote:Later on, when Sharadin is free, Chareos will approach him and ask, "I have no need of a magic sling any longer though it has served me well. Would you know of anyone who would care for such a weapon, or a place that would purchase it?"

Lady Ardel
Lady Vera Ardel:
“Yes, a most welcome return to Castle Pyris, Baron Validar,” Lady Ardel says excitedly. “We’ve only heard tantalizing tidbits of your exploits as of late. I look forward to hearing the full story.”
“I wouldn’t miss it for the world,” Lady Ardel adds. “I look forward to meeting your associates and hearing of their exploits.”
Lady Angelina indicates that she’ll attend as well.
“Welcome home, Baron,” Lady Angelina states as she curtseys. Before dinner, Validar will meet up with Lady Angelina and Lady Vera. "Well met, ladies. I trust you are both well. Lady Ardel, I want you to know that with the success of our mission in new Keln and the subsequent successes that we had at Fort Fletcher and in defeating the Citadel of the Cold Maiden, that we have helped to stabilize not only the western lands, but all of Cynalon. Further, there is a dwarven expedition based at Fort Fletcher that seeks to reclaim Hammerfall and other dwarven holdings in the area. It each a step towards progress."
“Yes, a most welcome return to Castle Pyris, Baron Validar,” Lady Ardel says excitedly. “We’ve only heard tantalizing tidbits of your exploits as of late. I look forward to hearing the full story.”
“That is most welcomed news, Baron Validar! I do not know how I can ever repay your efforts on my behalf.”"For now, our focus is on the transition of power in Elcadan to the new duke, Relon.
“I would be honored to attend,” Lady Angelina answers."But for now, a hope you will both be my guests for the Transfer Ceremony tomorrow. It is an important event for Pyris and I am sure that it will be an extraordinary night of food and celebration."
“I wouldn’t miss it for the world,” Lady Ardel adds. “I look forward to meeting your associates and hearing of their exploits.”
“That sounds fine to me,” Lady Ardel responds. “I will look forward to it. This is all so exciting!”The Baron has started to walk away from Lady Ardel and Lady Angelina when a thought comes to his mind, nearly forgotten.
Lady Angelina indicates that she’ll attend as well.
Lady Gabriella
Lady Gabriella:
Lady Gabriella ends up spending much of the afternoon with Duchess Lysandra, talking about many things in private. It is an interesting afternoon.
Gabriella mostly relaxes at the feast, enjoys the food and drink and listens to the tales told. It is a pleasure to simply be a guest instead of being a hostess.
“That’s certainly a mixed blessing,” Lady Gabriella wryly notes. “There is more to life than meetings, beloved.”Baron Validar wrote:"Lady Gabriella, if you would excuse me for a moment.

“So there you are,” Lady Gabriella states. “Already busy with affairs of state? I spent a charming afternoon with your mother. I shall be riding in the carriage with her and Lady Sallavarian on the journey to Elcadan.”Baron Validar wrote:Saying goodbye to them, Validar will continue to review various reports and notifications, until he locates Gabriella to escort her to the feast. "A vision of loveliness, as always, my dearest," he says as he takes her hand and kisses it. They head to the Grand Hall, arm in arm, chatting along the way.

Sir Corley
Sir Corley:
The Knight greets the new Duke and Duchess.
“How interesting,” he notes.
Corley makes a point of loitering in the hallways before the guest chambers in hopes of catching Lady Ardel. Finally, the fair lady does emerge from her chambers and Corley steps forwards.
“Ah, you are as lovely as ever, Lady Ardel. Would you do me the honor of allowing me to escort you the repast?”
If she accepts, Sir Corley will take her arm and lead her to the feast hall.

“Thank you, Your Grace. I hope that my father is pleased with my accomplishments thus far.”“And to you as well, Sir Corley.” Duke Relon replies. “It is an honor to be knighted for your efforts. I am sure that your father is proud of your accomplishments.”
“In no small part due to the time I’ve spent here at Castle Pyris in the company of you and your family.”“Thank you, Corley,” the Duchess answers. “You’ve grown up into quite a young man right before our eyes.”
Sir Corley is finishing up his preparations for the feast when there is a knock on his chamber door. Outside is Dellant, the new Baron’s Herald. An invitation is delivered and Dellant excuses himself. Sir Corley reads the invitation.Right before departing for the evening feast, Sir Corley, Sir Acerion, and Lady Ivy will have the invitations for tomorrows brunch delivered to them.

Sir Corley has heard Lady Gwendoyln’s tales many times before, but never tires of hearing them again. Argent:
“I take it that you were with them from the beginning?” Argent inquires. The Invoker crossed paths with the group much later on and has only heard bits and pieces of their earlier adventures.Stepping from the stone house Chareos looks about seeing Castle Pyris. Never has he seen within the walls and he takes a moment to take in the scenery. It was not long ago that the Guardians were formed here; a time he looked back on, seeing faces and hearing voices he had forgotten. "It seems our journey has come full circle," he says to Argent. "It has been some time since the Guardians have seen this land."
“Why yes I am,” Argent answers in surprise. But then she realizes that the new Duchess is Jallarzi’s aunt, something she learned while an apprentice. “The Lady Sallavarian is most kind in her praise.”“You’re Jallarzi’s student, are you not?” The Duchess inquires. “My niece has spoken highly of you.”
“That is agreeable to me,” Argent answers. “We can see what those here in the castle have to offer before hitting the streets.”Chareos wrote:"Aye, that would be for the best. I'm a bit concerned about this gala. Never before have I set foot in such a place. In fact I would be hard pressed to find something to wear for such an occasion," he says evenly.
"Perhaps, I could join you for a time in your shopping spree. Something may catch my eye, whether it be for myself or that matches your tiara."
Argent is content to listen to the stories and engage in conversation to those close to her.The feast is pleasant enough and relaxing. The food is good and filling. Numerous stories are traded and a good time is had by all.

Ivy
Ivy:
Ivy steps out of the cube and finds herself in another castle, although one of normal size. Validar is among the first out and he introduces us to his parents.
Ivy steps back and then will be at Sir Acerion’s side once his introductions are complete. The afternoon passes quickly as Ivy spends time with Sir Acerion when he is available or otherwise is with Elspeth.
Ivy answers the door to find a man delivering invitations. Puzzled by this, she accepts the invitation for herself and Sir Acerion. Ivy closes the door and hands Sir Acerion his invitation.
“What is this all about?” Ivy reads the invitation, but it still doesn’t explain much. “An invitation to a brunch? Do you have any idea what is going on?”
Later Ivy attends the feast with Sir Acerion. She enjoys the food and the stories, but most of all the company.

Chareos
“Aye, I was trained by Lord Sharadin.” A heart felt smile comes to his face, as he continues, “He was like a father: hard, stern but attentive when needed. I dare say I could not have asked for a better mentor than our Arch-Mage. While my tutelage under Lord Sharadin has come to an end, my training is still ongoing, Your Grace.” Chareos will look to Baron Validar then back to the Duke/Duchess, “As of late, I have been studying and training in tactics of battle under the tutelage of your son. It is my hope to become a Battle Mage to better defend myself, my country and its people."
Argent-
‘Thank you, Your Grace,” Chareos says politely lowering his head, his eyes meeting theirs as he hears the Duchess’ question.“Welcome to Pyris, Lord Chareos,” the Duke intones.

“Yes,” he says with a smile. “Many of us answered Sherwood’s call.” He recalled as many faces flashed through his mind of elf, man and dwarf alike. “Oddly, it feels like yesterday that we rode out from Pyris and here we are yet again.”“I take it that you were with them from the beginning?” Argent inquires. The Invoker crossed paths with the group much later on and has only heard bits and pieces of their earlier adventures.

Yusef:
Realizing just how badly he botched his meeting with the new Duke, Yusef pays attention to the attendant's description of protocol and attempts to commit the information to memory. The Duke's stiff reply made it clear that they were not entirely pleased by his error. Perhaps it is best that Yusef is a traveller and unlikely to be dealing with nobility in large measure...
Later on, the staff provides clothing for Yusef in cooperation with Sherra's guidance. Looking at himself in the looking-glass, Yusef feels faintly absurd, but Sherra seems content enough. Thus, he will endure the ignobility of it for her sake when the time comes for the ceremony.
At least he will be allowed to wear more comfortable clothing for this evening's feast.
At some point in the afternoon, Yusef will borrow a sling from the castle's armory as he doesn't have one of his own. However, he's been learning to use one as the opportunity arises, and he wishes to continue his practice so as not to lose this new skill. He will find the practice yard, as the castle must certainly have one for the troops, and spend some time there working with the borrowed sling.
The feast proves to be a very pleasant affair, and Yusef eats heartily even while avoiding overindulgence. Lady Gwendolyn proves to be an enchanting speaker. Her stories of her father's exploits are stirring while also serving as something of a history lesson. Still, it is Sherra that most occupies Yusef's attention and interest this evening, so he chats quietly with her between stories.

Acerion
Sir Acerion:
"From the Guardians, there is Sir Acerion of Heironeous, Lady Ivy of Azrella, Lady Sherra, Lady Argent, Lord Chareos, Lady Lyonessa of Mystra, Yusef ibn Nerita bint Falawi Al-Rashid and of course, you know Sir Corley."
“Ah, yes, the Heroes of Corunglain,” Duke Relon states. “I bid you welcome to Pyris and offer thanks for your continued efforts. You will always be welcomed in my domain.”
"A true honor indeed for such a welcome, Your Grace," Acerion says in reply.
The rest of the day passes pleasantly enough for the guests at Castle Pyris. Those seeking proper clothing for tomorrow's gala can either be attended to by the castle staff or seek out such garments in town.
Acerion will find something that is the proper shade of blue and with the right cut and fit for him. He will see if he can get a silver trim worked into the clothes in time for the gala. He will also acquire the proper footwear since armored boots would definitely clash.
Acerion moves to the door as Ivy closes it, accepting the invitation she hands him. Not opening his yet, he sees what hers is first. As she asks her question he reads his, "I'm not entirely sure. I wasn't told of any of this. It possibly is something that just came up," he guesses.

Acerion moves to the door as Ivy closes it, accepting the invitation she hands him. Not opening his yet, he sees what hers is first. As she asks her question he reads his, "I'm not entirely sure. I wasn't told of any of this. It possibly is something that just came up," he guesses.
Acerion enjoys the feast and the company of Ivy and his other companions. He listens intently to Lady Gwendolyn's tales. They are truly fascinating. He makes sure to glance at Ivy from time to time to make sure she isn't overly bored and to let her know he hasn't forgotten she is there.

Baron Validar -
Arrival before the Duke:
“Word of your exploits has only been trickling in thus far,” Duke Relon explains. “I look forward to hearing the full story over this evening's feast.”
“Welcome home, my son,” Duchess Lysandra adds.
"I would be most pleased to inform the both of you of the successes which the Kingdom has seen develop. I am proud to have been among the heroes who have completed these monumentla tasks."
“One big one,” the Lady Rachel answers with a grin. “I’ll be joining you on the ride to Elcadan. I wouldn’t want to miss out on all the excitement!”
"I see," Validar replies, a little worried that she may be a bit to naive yet to take this as serious as it is. "As I mentioned before, these are great adventures, but they also require a large amount of responsibility." Validar will try to keep an eye on his younger sister. She was always more exhuberant than he.
"I see that the weather has softened somewhat. The defeat of the Cold Maiden has born fruit even in our lands!"
“Yes, it has been most pleasant the last few days,” the Duke answers. “The snow has even melted. Our ride will be chilly, but will not be under freezing conditions. This can only be a good sign.”
"Indeed, father. One of many."
Meeting with the Duke:
"I cannot wait when you shall join me in such meetings as baroness, my love." He escorts her by the arm to the exit of the Audience Hall. There guards and an attendant are waiting to aid Gabriella is whatever she should need.
“That’s certainly a mixed blessing,” Lady Gabriella wryly notes. “There is more to life than meetings, beloved.”
"Indeed, although at the moment, they are a necessary evil."
“Words of you and your friends exploits have reached the people’s ear,” the Duke answers. “Our recruitment rate has increased greatly, but it will take time to properly train them. But these new men will help serve as a home guard during this time.”
"That is good news," Validar agrees. "I have a feeling that we will need these additional soldiers at some point, and even should there not be a direct conflict in our future, expansion and growth of the territories will require more troops."
“More than a few of the local nobles have inquired about your retaining Squires. There are a few worthy young men and women among them. Perhaps you and your fellow knights will have the chance to meet them before we leave?”
"I see," Validar answers. "I have been considering the thought since being knighted by the King. Sir Alon is posting a notice of such in the Order Hall in Alexandria, but I would certainly be interested in meeting with local lords for possible candidates. It can only benefit us to grow our own future knights."
"You are correct if we do not enter into full-fledged battle with any coming opponent. Otherwise, we may not have a choice. Ideally we would continue to recruit at a sufficient pace to meet or exceed our needs. Once Elcadan is under control, some of those concerns will be alliviated."
"That will be workable, your Grace. On the ride to Ansimont, we will have sufficient assistance from our group. Once we split there will be fewer Guardians, but that is the nature of the missions." Validar will be sure to ride near the carriages in order to be certain they are protected completely.
The Lady Gwendolyn will be remaining here for the time being and can be consulted if need be.”
"That will give us the opportunity to locate and properly replace such individuals. I will make such a list available to you and inform them all of the arrangements."
Castle Inspections:
The military is on full alert. The Captains will congratulate Validar on his recent successes and wish him well with his future endeavors. The majority of the new recruits will most likely be foot soldiers. A few show promise for the cavalry and others seem to have some skill with the Pyrisian Ballista.
Validar will thank the Captains for having the troops in such good order and morale. He will encourage them to continue the recruitment as strongly as possible, while also training the current recruits.
Dellant:
Catching up to his herald Dellant once more, the two head off in the opposite direction. "Sir Corley is staying in the Castle as are Lady Ivy and Sir Acerion, I believe. Please have them delivered proper invitations as soon as possible to this meeting tomorrow morning. Lady Gabriella will be attending of course. I will have the staff informed as to our requirements. If you have the time available, it would do well for you to attend as well."
“I will see to it immediately, my lord,” Dellant smartly answers. “I would be honored to attend your gathering.”
"Very good. The more you understand about our plans the better you will be able to assist me."
Validar's day is full and there is much to accomplish. Tirelessly, the Baron moves from one meeting to another, all necessary for the transition of power to himself, as well as helping to prepare for the changes to come in Elcadan.
Validar will continue to review various reports and notifications, until he locates Gabriella to escort her to the feast. "A vision of loveliness, as always, my dearest," he says as he takes her hand and kisses it. They head to the Grand Hall, arm in arm, chatting along the way.
“So there you are,” Lady Gabriella states. “Already busy with affairs of state? I spent a charming afternoon with your mother. I shall be riding in the carriage with her and Lady Sallavarian on the journey to Elcadan.”
"It has been a very full day," Validar states, letting out a full breath as he does so. "But now, I am yours."
"That shall be fine, beloved. There is much that the Duchess can pass on I am certain. Having Jalarzi present will only help with the security of the carriage passengers."
Arriving at the feast, Validar will greet everyone who is already there and also those who arrive after him. He will take a seat next to his lady.
Sir Corley soon after arrives with Lady Vera on his arm. Seeing them step into the room, and before they can notice, Validar touches Gabriella's hand to get her attention and winks, then nods in their direction. He then greets his friend and companion.
The feast itself is joyous and relaxing, although Validar cannot help his mind wandering at times to think about plans as well as needs for running the Barony now. His grandmother's stories are interesting as usual, although he has heard them all several times now.
When all is done, Validar has earned a welcome night's rest.

Lady Ardel:
“Welcome home, Baron,” Lady Angelina states as she curtseys.
“Yes, a most welcome return to Castle Pyris, Baron Validar,” Lady Ardel says excitedly. “We’ve only heard tantalizing tidbits of your exploits as of late. I look forward to hearing the full story.”
"I am certain that there will be ample time to tell the full tale in the near future."
"Each day brings us closer to placing you upon her throne once more."
“That is most welcomed news, Baron Validar! I do not know how I can ever repay your efforts on my behalf.”
"The task is not completed as yet. There will be plenty of opportunities to work together in the future to our mutual benefits."
“I would be honored to attend,” Lady Angelina answers.
“I wouldn’t miss it for the world,” Lady Ardel adds. “I look forward to meeting your associates and hearing of their exploits.”
"Excellent. There are several of my associates who would be quite pleased to meet you as well, Lady Ardel. Until tomorrow."
“That sounds fine to me,” Lady Ardel responds. “I will look forward to it. This is all so exciting!”
Lady Angelina indicates that she’ll attend as well.
Validar smiles in response. "It is the beginnings of a life-long dream, so of course it should be exciting. I will inform the staff to be prepared for your arrival."

Baron Validar -
Castle Pyris has an area to hold weapons for the soldiers and guards, as well as practice grounds for drill and for archery. Surely Yusef can easily find what he needs to conduct his practice.
Validar will spend the morning after the feast in various tasks. He will take out his warhorse Havok, as well as his riding horse, Shadow, for some exercise. They have gotten regular exercise from the staff, but Validar has not ridden them in some days and he doesn't wat them to think he has forgotten them.
With the late morning meeting looming, Validar is able to skip breakfast to gain some more time. He will review the morning drill of the light cavalry and sees that portions of the castle have been decorated for the festive day. Everything seems to be quite busy, even at this early hour.
Validar will meet with Lara Belbin to officially make her the new Baron's scribe. He will also meet with the staff that is leaving with the Duke to Elcadan and discuss possible replacements for them, including those who are leaving later.
He will also meet with Dellant who is given his new tabard with the Baron colors at this time. Together, they will proceed to the meeting room, after attending to Lady Gabriella and having her accompany them.
Validar will be sure to be the first to arrive at the meeting in the private study and the staff has been ready. Food is ready to be served and all is in place. "Let us see how this plan of ours works. It seems to have some success already based on the arrival at last night's dinner. And certainly there is much planning that needs to begun here. I am very anxious to hear others opinions of how to proceed. I have kept this a private matter for so long now," Validar says to Gabriella as they wait for the next attendees.
Validar will greet each individually when they arrive.
After everyone is in attendance, he will take Gabriella's hand and stand. "Thank you all for coming here. This meeting is the beginnings of the plan to recover Stone Ridge. While the military aspect of it is important, there is a huge serious of steps that must be in place once Stone Ridge is free and ready to accept Lady Ardel to her throne."
"I have called you all here as advisors to this process. As you know, I have obligated myself to reclaim Stone Ridge. While other situations have conspired to keep that from being my sole goal, it remains an important one that each step we take brings closer to finality. Sir Corley has vowed to assist me in this matter, as has Sir Acerion. Also Acerion has family connections to the barony. Lady Ivy of Azrella will be a point of assistance with her faith which should be in strong need once the humanoids are driven from the land and the people are freed once more. Also being betrothed to Sir Acerion brings her into this circle of insiders."
"Lady Angelina," Validar says, indicating the young woman, is Lady Vera's attendant while here at Castle Pyris and is extremely effective in her duties. I am sure she will be considered for Lady Gabriella's personal staff when Lady Ardel finally moves to Ardelphia."
"Dellant is my hereld," Validar continues, motioning towards the seated young man. "His father is a knight, Sir Corwin of the Barony of Dmitrov."
"Please everyone make yourself comfortable and please partake of the food. The staff is quite busy with tonight's preparations, so I assure them we could take care of ourselves in this endeavor. Once everyone has served themselves then, we can get down to business."
Once the group has gotten their food, Validar will speak up again. "There are many avenues that this discourse can take, but I am certain that there are many questions that you each have, so perhaps we can begin there?"

Argent wrote:"Why yes I am," Argent answers in surprise. But then she realizes that the new Duchess is Jallarzi's aunt, something she learned while an apprentice. "The Lady Sallavarian is most kind in her praise."
"Jallarzi keeps me updated about such things," Duchess Lysandra explains. "I dabbled with Spellcraft before I was married, but never had any great skill like others in my family."Charoes wrote:"Thank you, Your Grace," Chareos says politely lowering his head, his eyes meeting theirs as he hears the Duchess' question.
"Lord Sharadin is a fine man," the Duchess agrees. "Best of luck with your training."Chareos wrote:"Aye, I was trained by Lord Sharadin." A heart felt smile comes to his face, as he continues, "He was like a father: hard, stern but attentive when needed. I dare say I could not have asked for a better mentor than our Arch-Mage. While my tutelage under Lord Sharadin has come to an end, my training is still ongoing, Your Grace." Chareos will look to Baron Validar then back to the Duke/Duchess, "As of late, I have been studying and training in tactics of battle under the tutelage of your son. It is my hope to become a Battle Mage to better defend myself, my country and its people."
"Welcome to Pyris, Lady Ivy of Azrella," Duke Relon states.Ivy wrote:"A pleasure to meet you both," Ivy states trying to remember the proper way to greet the Duke and Duchess. Then she remembers what the others before her said and quickly adds, "Your Grace."
"One that was well earned, Sir Acerion," Duke Relon explains. "The exploits of you and your companions have been an inspiration to us all. Fame of your deeds will spread."Sir Acerion wrote:"A true honor indeed for such a welcome, Your Grace," Acerion says in reply.
"Relax, Validar," Lady Rachel grins. "What could possibly happen?"Validar wrote:"I see," Validar replies, a little worried that she may be a bit to naive yet to take this as serious as it is. "As I mentioned before, these are great adventures, but they also require a large amount of responsibility." Validar will try to keep an eye on his younger sister. She was always more exuberant than he.

Speaking with the Duke:
Baron Validar speaks privately with his father...
Odds & Ends:
During the feast, your hosts will request the details of your latest exploits, since they have only heard bits and pieces of them thus far. There's quite a bit to tell and they'll be most interested in the raid on the Hextor temple.
Those in search of proper clothing for tomorrow's ceremony will locate what they need, either here in the castle or out in the town.
Late the next morning, a special brunch is held in a private study in Castle Pyris. Baron Validar and Lady Gabriella are holding it. Invited to attend are Lady Vera Ardel, Lady Angelina, Sir Corley, Sir Acerion, Lady Ivy, and Validar's Herald, Dellant.
Everyone else has time to pursue their own interests from most of the morning and afternoon. It'll be late afternoon when the Ceremony of Transfer is scheduled to begin. More and more nobles of Pyris will arrive during the day.

"Sir Belfor will be making the journey as well," the Duke adds. "His primary function is to the safety of your mother during these trying times. I believe his oldest boy, Flynn, is among those petitioning to be squires.""That will be workable, your Grace. On the ride to Ansimont, we will have sufficient assistance from our group. Yusef can find what he's looking for easy enough. Lady Sallavarian will note him practice and approach. "If you are interested in the sling, your companion Lord Chareos has one that he is looking to dispose of. Perhaps you should speak with him?"Yusef wrote:At some point in the afternoon, Yusef will borrow a sling from the castle's armory, as he doesn't have one of his own. However, he's been learning to use one as the opportunity arises, and he wishes to continue his practice so as not to lose this new skill. He will find the practice yard, as the castle must certainly have one for the troops, and spend some time there working with the borrowed sling.

GM Notes
GM Notes:
Obtaining Squires: Those Knights who wish to retain squires can meet with several candidates here at Castle Pyris. All are from the local Pyrisian nobility or have high-ranking parents in the military. (At least Lieutenant, thus making the parent a Court Lord.) This is optional and you don't have to take on any Squires at this time.
Since it's your choice to take select from the candidates, I will let you come up with character sketches for the Squires you do select. There are roughly a dozen candidates, but you can at most take two selections. (That's how many who will meet your personal requirements.)
What I'll need from you is the gender of your new Squire and their race. (Human most likely, half-elven is possible.) A thumbnail sketch of their personality and general skills. Provide as much or as little detail as you wish. I'll handle the game mechanics such as stats & skills. Basically provide me with those details you don't want to leave to my whims!
Now what?
Obtaining Squires: Those Knights who wish to retain squires can meet with several candidates here at Castle Pyris. All are from the local Pyrisian nobility or have high-ranking parents in the military. (At least Lieutenant, thus making the parent a Court Lord.) This is optional and you don't have to take on any Squires at this time.

Yusef:
"Ah, Lady Sallavarian. Thank you for the advice. I will ask him about it as you suggest. I don't have much that I can trade for it, but perhaps we can work something out."
Whirling stone after stone towards the targets, Yusef notes the Lady Sallavarian approaching and pauses to listen to what she has to say.Jallarzi wrote:Yusef can find what he's looking for easy enough. dressing up..
Sherra:
Sherra will try to find a nice silk shirt and some dress leathers rather than her armor. A nice set of boots with a bit of a heel, more than what she would normally wear. She will also have her hair done up in a flattering style, if the staff can wrestle it into something agreeable! She still comes away with the rougish image, but a very fashionable and upstanding rogue at the least.
Sherra remains quiet while most of the others greet the Duke a bit more. She will smile and simply say "Your Grace" pleasantly as his eyes take in each of them.“Ah, yes, the Heroes of Corunglain,” Duke Relon states. “I bid you welcome to Pyris and offer thanks for your continued efforts. You will always be welcomed in my domain.”
Sensing a little of Yusef's discomfort, she suggests, "Why don't you look at what they've provided and maybe do away with some of the pomp of it? I don't think you should lose who you are for the ceremony, instead maybe enhance what is here with your own style. After all, I'm not wearing a dress, remember?" she says the last with an easy smile.Later on, the staff provides clothing for Yusef in cooperation with Sherra's guidance. Looking at himself in the looking-glass, Yusef feels faintly absurd, but Sherra seems content enough. Thus, he will endure the ignobility of it for her sake when the time comes for the ceremony.

Lady Vera Ardel
Lady Vera Ardel:
Lady Vera offers her arm at such a noble invitation. Sir Corley was always a handsome and charming man, but now he is a knight and one who has performed great deeds. It is an appealing combination.
“I would be pleased to join you at the feast, Sir Corley. This promises to be most exciting!”
During the feast Lady Vera mostly listens to the conversation going on around her, but will get more involved when directly spoken to.
Late the next morning Lady Vera is helped by her trusted companion Lady Angelina in preparations for the brunch. They arrive at the designated place and time together.
‘That will most likely be the case once this all occurs.”Baron Validar wrote:"The task is not completed as yet. There will be plenty of opportunities to work together in the future to our mutual benefits."
“Pleasant evening, Baron.”Baron Validar wrote:"Excellent. There are several of my associates who would be quite pleased to meet you as well, Lady Ardel. Until tomorrow."
“Oh!” Lady Vera utters, startled to find Sir Corley in the hallway. “Sir Corley. I was not expecting to see you there. You flatter me as always.”Sir Corley wrote:Corley makes a point of loitering in the hallways before the guest chambers in hopes of catching Lady Ardel.

Lady Vera will say hello to everyone and pay more attention to those that she is unfamiliar with. “Good to see you again, Sir Acerion. I have high hopes for the restoration of our ancestral lands. Pleased to meet you, Lady Ivy.”Baron Valdiar wrote:After everyone is in attendance, he will take Gabriella's hand and stand.
"Dellant is my herald," Validar continues, motioning towards the seated young man.
Lady Vera eats lightly, as is per her nature. She’s quite interested in what is about to be said and is attentive.Baron Validar wrote:Once the group has gotten their food, Validar will speak up again. "There are many avenues that this discourse can take, but I am certain that there are many questions that you each have, so perhaps we can begin there?"
Lady Gabriella
Lady Gabriella:
The two will chat and cuddle for a time before turning in for the evening.
For the time being Lady Gabriella will let the others direct the conversation and see where it leads.
“For a short time,” Lady Gabriella notes. “We will both need our rest for the coming day.”Validar wrote:"It has been a very full day," Validar states, letting out a full breath as he does so. "But now, I am yours."
“Between the forces outside and with the Lady Sallavarian inside, I am confident that we will be perfectly safe.”Valdiar wrote:"That shall be fine, beloved. There is much that the Duchess can pass on I am certain. Having Jallarzi present will only help with the security of the carriage passengers."
The two will chat and cuddle for a time before turning in for the evening.
“Very good,” Lady Allonica notes. “They do make a lovely couple.”Sir Corley soon after arrives with Lady Vera on his arm. Seeing them step into the room, and before they can notice, Validar touches Gabriella's hand to get her attention and winks, then nods in their direction. He then greets his friend and companion.
“Pleasant morning, gentlemen. I trust you slept well?”He will also meet with Dellant who is given his new tabard with the Baron colors at this time. Together, they will proceed to the meeting room, after attending to Lady Gabriella and having her accompany them.
“I would advise keeping the conversation and tone light. Let’s not get too intimidating and frighten people off.”Validar will be sure to be the first to arrive at the meeting in the private study and the staff has been ready.
For the time being Lady Gabriella will let the others direct the conversation and see where it leads.
Sir Corley
Sir Corley:
Next morning, Sir Corley is up early and will tend to the needs of his mounts. He’ll brush them and take them out for a short ride each. Then he’ll return to his room, clean up and change into his dress uniform. As is per his nature, Sir Corley will arrive early for the brunch.
Sir Corley will grasp hands with the new Baron. “Good morning, my friend. It does look like a fine spread has been set out for us. What is this all about?”
Upon learning about potential squires, Sir Corley will meet with them after the brunch, but before the ceremony late this afternoon. Two of the young men do impress, and Sir Corley accepts their services. One is a young human named Pravus Bascar, the other a half-elf called Verlin Moonshadow.
“Have all your gear and mounts ready for travel come the morning,” Sir Corley tells the young men. “We’ll be accompanying the Duke on his ride towards Elcadan for a time, before leaving for our ultimate destination, the fallen Barony of Akorros. Your training will not be easy and at the present I will not have much time for instruction. I will teach you what I can, but there is much you’ll have to learn on your own.”
“It is not flattery, milady, when it is the truth.”Lady Vera wrote:“Oh!” Lady Vera utters, startled to find Sir Corley in the hallway. “Sir Corley. I was not expecting to see you there. You flatter me as always.”
“Then let us be off, milady! Indeed, the repast does promise to be of great interest! I trust that many exciting tales will be spun that will hold all spellbound.”Lady Vera offers her arm at such a noble invitation. Sir Corley was always a handsome and charming man, but now he is a knight and one who has performed great deeds. It is an appealing combination.

It’ll be several months before the thaw and hopefully the issue with the Devilles will have been settled by then. From a strategic point of view, it seems obvious that we use Fort Fletcher as a base of operations for our sorties into Ardelphia. With Fort Fletcher now secured, the humanoid presence will not be reinforced. As their numbers decrease due to our activities, they will not be replenished. It will take many sorties, but at least the goal of the liberation of Stone Ridge can be achieved. The renewed dwarven presence in the region is only a boon to this great task. I am confident by this time next year, this meeting will be taking place in the private study of Baroness Ardel of Stone Ridge.”Once the group has gotten their food, Validar will speak up again. Argent
Argent:
The Invoker does some shopping the morning of the ceremony. The red dress that Lady Gabriella mentioned back at Karn’s Keep does fit wonderfully and is very flattering to Argent’s already curvy figure. New shoes are purchased in town to go with the gown.
Argent spends the hours leading up to the ceremony getting herself dressed and prepared. Her hair is styled and light make-up applied. Her tiara is on display.
Before the event, she’ll stop in on Chareos and she how he is coming along. She’ll offer suggestions with his attire and help make it perfect.
Once ready, the pair will make their way to the ceremony where they will be introduced by the Herald. From there, they’ll mingle speaking to friends and making new acquaintances.

I am an Invoker of no small power.
Lyonessa:
“Ah, yes, the Heroes of Corunglain,” Duke Relon states. “I bid you welcome to Pyris and offer thanks for your continued efforts. You will always be welcomed in my domain.”
"A pleasure to meet you, Your Grace," Lyonessa says, her heart pounding slightly being in front of even more royalty. She always worries that she'll make a mistake somewhere. "Congratulations to you as well, and thank you for such a reception."
Lyonessa will definitely offer up her talents during the feast should any or all desire a song or tale. She is also very eager to hears the stories of the Lady Gwendolyn which keeps her attention.
The rest of her time not spent getting her dress just right will be spend allowing Dusk some time to be free out of doors, especially since it is no longer so frigid. She will also polish up her latest ballads and write some things about her visit to Silvarn's home.
Lyonessa will also conduct proper prayers and reverence to Mystra, something is can't always do on the road. She will select spells that will hopefully be useful for the coming trip and spend time in casual conversation with any of her friends that she sees.

Ivy
Ivy:
Ivy will change into her priestess robes for the evenings feast and will accompany Sir Acerion to it.
While trying to sleep that night, Ivy makes a decision about her attire for the next day. Ivy never really thought about having fancy dresses while growing up in the orphanage. It was the farthest thing from her mind and becoming a noble herself one day was at best a fantasy. Such things were simply not desirable to Ivy.
Next morning she’ll go through her morning devotions with Elspeth before venturing into the city. When she returns, Ivy will have purchased a new set of priestess robes for herself. When Acerion arrives to escort her to this ‘brunch’ Ivy will explain.
“I am sorry if I disappointed you, but I have decided that I should wear my priestess robe to the days ceremonies. First and foremost, I am a servant of Azrella and I chose to honor her above any mortal, be they noble or not. I do not know if I am cut out for this sort of life, but no matter what I do, I must be true to what I believe.”
Her holy mace will be tucked into her belt during the day. Should anyone question its presence, she’ll explain that, “This is a holy weapon of Azrella. The only way it will be taken from me is pried from my cold, dead hands.”
Ivy is dreading this brunch that Validar has set up. She’ll be cordial to those she meets, but its clear from her body language that she can’t wait to get out of there. Ivy has nothing significant to add to the gathering.
Once that is over with, Ivy will go out for some fresh air. There’s another, much larger gathering tonight that promises to be just as tedious. Ivy finds herself looking forward to getting back on the road once more.
"I somehow doubt that," Ivy answers skeptically. "Validar doesn't seem to the type to do anything on a whim. There is a reason behind this."Acerion moves to the door as Ivy closes it, accepting the invitation she hands him. Not opening his yet, he sees what hers is first. As she asks her question he reads his, "I'm not entirely sure. I wasn't told of any of this. It possibly is something that just came up," he guesses.

Ivy is very much out of her element here, but the stories are entertaining. She'll excuse herself for the evening as soon as she is able.Acerion enjoys the feast and the company of Ivy and his other companions. He listens intently to Lady Gwendolyn's tales. They are truly fascinating. He makes sure to glance at Ivy from time to time to make sure she isn't overly bored and to let her know he hasn't forgotten she is there.

For the glory of the Blue Lady!
Serena
Serena:
There is little for Serena to do while visiting Pyris. The events taking place here have no great importance to her. Instead, she’ll go explore the city and see what it has to offer. If there is a Temple to Mystra, she’ll visit to pay her respects.
Serena will seek out the company of her fellow Mystran Lyonessa. “Would you mind company during your morning devotions? I know there are some followers who prefer to show their faith in private and those who enjoy the company of others. I thought I would find out which you prefer.”
If Lyonessa does not mind, Serena will join her for morning prayers.

Knight of the Mystic Fire
Acerion
Sir Acerion:
"I somehow doubt that," Ivy answers skeptically. "Validar doesn't seem to the type to do anything on a whim. There is a reason behind this."
"That is very true," Acerion says, but has no further insight into it. "I guess we will both see tomorrow then."
Ivy is very much out of her element here, but the stories are entertaining. She'll excuse herself for the evening as soon as she is able.
Acerion sees the first sign of just how uncomfortable Ivy is, especially as she leaves before he does. While he has limited experience with all of this, he is still noble born. It causes him to begin to think things over as he finishes out the remainder of the night.
"There is very little you could ever do that would disappoint me," Acerion says, but leaves much more unsaid. "Your faith and devotion are powerful and should never be placed second to anything. You should never compromise yourself for something that would bring you conflict."
Her holy mace will be tucked into her belt during the day. Should anyone question its presence, she’ll explain that, “This is a holy weapon of Azrella. The only way it will be taken from me is pried from my cold, dead hands.”
Acerion notices that she is wearing her weapon but says nothing. On many occassions he has left his holy axe with his gear when the situation did not deem being armed as appropriate. He does not view it as a slight to his deity to have done so, and has received no displeasure either directly or through a sign or omen for his decisions. He is not armed when he attends the brunch.
Ivy's mannerisms are growing increasingly hostile towards all of this, Acerion notes. Not against any particular person, but instead against the uncomfortable surroundings. This puts a heavy weight upon his brow, but he does not let it show during the brunch, instead focusing on the reason behind the gathering.
Acerion seems distracted, especially when Validar mentions Ivy. He glances over at her and can tell she is growing increasingly uncomfortable. He tries to push it from his mind and concentrate on the rest of Validar's and Corley's words.
“And my vow still remains,” Sir Corley states. Stepping up to the Lady Ardel, he’ll get down on one knee and take her hand. “I do swear, my lady, on my honor as a Knight of the Realm that I shall not rest until your lands have been freed of the scum that infest them and that you have be restored to your proper position!”
"Nor has my vow diminished," Acerion adds in. "I fully intend to restore all that has been taken from our families," with a nod to the Lady Ardel, "as well as all the good people of Stone Ridge and those others who have lost lands from this tide of evil. The humanoids shall be pushed back into the holes by which they swarmed from."
"Please everyone make yourself comfortable and please partake of the food. The staff is quite busy with tonight's preparations, so I assure them we could take care of ourselves in this endeavor. Once everyone has served themselves then, we can get down to business."
Sir Corley helps himself to a large plate of food and refreshments. He’s always had a large appetite and will no doubt have seconds, if not thirds.
Acerion will smile at Corley, noticing the warrior's heaping plate. He too will eat heartily, although he will probably stop short when compared to Corley's appetite.
“Base on our experiences at Fort Fletcher, it is clear that Stone Ridge is currently in the grips of winter, even with the removal of the Cold Maiden. It’ll be several months before the thaw and hopefully the issue with the Devilles will have been settled by then. From a strategic point of view, it seems obvious that we use Fort Fletcher as a base of operations for our sorties into Ardelphia. I am confident by this time next year, this meeting will be taking place in the private study of Baroness Ardel of Stone Ridge.”
"I agree completely with Sir Corley's assesment," Acerion adds. "The dwarves' involvement will be vital and we should not lose any of what we have gained, and not only just with those dwarves who are our friends and companions. What is important to them should be important to us, as allowable by our King's design of course."
Once that is over with, Ivy will go out for some fresh air. There’s another, much larger gathering tonight that promises to be just as tedious. Ivy finds herself looking forward to getting back on the road once more.
Later on since Ivy is no where to be found, Acerion hears that some of the potential squires have begun arriving. He will make his way down, seeing Corley already speaking to two young men. Acerion will look around and see who else has arrived, especially curious if any of those from the inner kingdom that were on the initial list have shown up yet. He figures those of the outer areas would still be travelling, not having the benefit of the Stone House or magical steeds.
Seeing Ivy is still not about, Acerion will go and check on his steeds since it has been quite some time. He will allow his pegasus to get out and be free to fly since the paladin figures of any of the mounts who might go stir crazy first, it would be a pegasus.

Yusef:
He spends some time digging through what is available, tossing out anything frilly or splashy. In the end, he ends up with a respectable pair of plain blue slacks, a white shirt and a patterned vest in black, blue, yellow and white.
"Uhm... how do I look?" he asks, still feeling slightly ridiculous. At least the colors are appropriate to his patron...
Yusef casts an uneasy look toward the clothes provided by the attendants. "Style is not something I have much sense of or was taught while young. Still, I will try, though maybe a visit to Argent is in order. She seems very inclined to fashionable clothes."Sherra wrote:Sensing a little of Yusef's discomfort, she suggests, "Why don't you look at what they've provided and maybe do away with some of the pomp of it? I don't think you should lose who you are for the ceremony, instead maybe enhance what is here with your own style. After all, I'm not wearing a dress, remember?" she says the last with an easy smile.

Chareos
Chareos exits the inn fairly early, heading to the market with purpose. Looking at the markets and storekeepers' wares, Chareos begins to wonder what he got himself into as clothes were never his forte. He asks the storekeeper for something simple that would be suitable for said event. Within moments the Shopkeeper brings him to a wide assortment of clothing of a “stylish” nature. Shaking his head in disbelief Chareos begins to look through the racks for something that catches his eyes.
For a long while his eyes weren’t helping but then he saw something that he thought would be suitable. Paying for his purchase and asking the shopkeeper for where a reasonable priced jewelry shop (see email) may be found, Chareos then takes his leave.
As the day goes on Chareos begins to get butterflies in his stomach, Never before has he been in such a situation, besides being accompanied by a beautiful women. Looking up at the Inn’s ceiling Chareos begins to recite many things his mother used to bestow upon him before he left for training.
Dawning a pair of midnight black pants, a white shirt and a vest of black that loosely fit. As he is fixing his hair tying it back into a ponytail, Argent comes a calling.
For several moments Charoes looks his date up and down, his breath clearly taken away from him. Meeting her gaze he will say softly, “You look radiant, my dear. Clearly you will be the most beautiful woman at the Gala this night.”
Chareos will take any suggestions Argent purposes even if they may sound absurd, as these types of functions are alien to him.
Once ready, the pair will make their way to the ceremony where they will be introduced by the Herald. From there, they’ll mingle speaking to friends and making new acquaintances.

Baron Validar -
Arrival in Pyris:
"I see," Validar replies, a little worried that she may be a bit to naive yet to take this as serious as it is. "As I mentioned before, these are great adventures, but they also require a large amount of responsibility." Validar will try to keep an eye on his younger sister. She was always more exuberant than he.
"Relax, Validar," Lady Rachel grins. "What could possibly happen?"
Validar furrows his brow and frowns. "We'll be sure to keep you on a short leash, sister," he says, only partially joking.
Meeting with the Duke:
"I see," Validar answers. "I have been considering the thought since being knighted by the King. Sir Alon is posting a notice of such in the Order Hall in Alexandria, but I would certainly be interested in meeting with local lords for possible candidates. It can only benefit us to grow our own future knights."
"Most will be here for to attend tomorrow's ceremony. You'll have the chance to meet them over the next few days."
"Very good. While I am aware of most of the nobility in our lands, it will be good to meet the individual candidates and learn of their motives and desires more clearly. I trust at least one of this group will meet with my satisfaction."
"That will be workable, your Grace. On the ride to Ansimont, we will have sufficient assistance from our group. Once we split there will be fewer Guardians, but that is the nature of the missions." Validar will be sure to ride near the carriages in order to be certain they are protected completely.
"Sir Belfor will be making the journey as well," the Duke adds. "His primary function is to the safety of your mother during these trying times. I believe his oldest boy, Flynn, is among those petitioning to be squires."
"I am aware of Lord Flynn Jordana, Your Grace. If he is as competent as his sister Angelina has been, he will be a fine choice. I will be sure to include him in the process."

Baron Validar -
Feast:
Validar will be sure to regale all the guests with stories from the attack on the Hextor Temple. He will do his best to make it exciting and interesting without personal bragging added in. He will make sure to put his companions in the greatest light and not over-emphasize his own actions.
Validar notes nearer to the end of the festivities that Acerion seems to be without Ivy and in fact she has apparently excused herself from the party. "Perhaps she is not feeling well," he thinks to himself and does not comment on it.
A few of the local lords and ladies have been invited to the gala and Validar mingles with them after the feast. He is sure to meet Sir Belfor and his son to get a first impression of the lad.
The following morning, after the brunch concerning Stone Ridge, Validar meets more formally with Lord Flynn Jordana and will agree to accept him for squire training after a suitable meeting. The young lad seems to have the same desire to see Pyris grow in stature and his personal motives seem pure. "I am pleased to accept you into training. I trust you will live up to the expectations that dealing with your father and your sister, Lady Angelina, have already created. We will be leaving with the Duke the morning after the Tansfer Ceremony. There is not much time to prepare."

Lady Vera Ardel:
"The task is not completed as yet. There will be plenty of opportunities to work together in the future to our mutual benefits."
‘That will most likely be the case once this all occurs.”
Validar listens to her comment and rolls it around in his head. "I look forward to that day, Lady Ardel," he finally answers.
Lady Gabriella Allonica:
"It has been a very full day," Validar states, letting out a full breath as he does so. "But now, I am yours."
“For a short time,” Lady Gabriella notes. “We will both need our rest for the coming day.”
"Indeed. It promises to be even more hectic and busy than today was. While I have been enjoying the newness of all this, in a way it will be simpler once back on the road. Only a limited number of worries to deal with."
"That shall be fine, beloved. There is much that the Duchess can pass on I am certain. Having Jallarzi present will only help with the security of the carriage passengers."
“Between the forces outside and with the Lady Sallavarian inside, I am confident that we will be perfectly safe.”
"That is very true. While I do not expect any sort of attack until after we reach Ansimont and are riding to Elcadan proper, I would welcome someone to tip their hand so early. It would make some of this process potentialy easier."
The two will chat and cuddle for a time before turning in for the evening.
Sir Corley soon after arrives with Lady Vera on his arm. Seeing them step into the room, and before they can notice, Validar touches Gabriella's hand to get her attention and winks, then nods in their direction. He then greets his friend and companion.
“Very good,” Lady Allonica notes. “They do make a lovely couple.”
"Indeed they do." He smiles briefly at his betrothed before letting the matter slip away.

Promising meeting...
Baron Validar -
Stone Ridge Brunch Meeting:
The meeting regarding Stone Ridge is rather important one, although somewhat eclipsed by events later that day. Still Validar is interested to see how this will begin to play out. He still has he designs set on gaining favor with Lady Ardel and her soon-to-be-recovered barony.
He will also meet with Dellant who is given his new tabard with the Baron's colors at this time. Together, they will proceed to the meeting room, after attending to Lady Gabriella and having her accompany them.
“Pleasant morning, gentlemen. I trust you slept well?”
"Indeed. Although after as busy a day as I had yesterday it was more recovery than sleep," he says with a hint of a chuckle. "And how have you been this morn?" He gives her a lingering kiss on the lips in greeting.
“I would advise keeping the conversation and tone light. Let’s not get too intimidating and frighten people off.”
"I agree. This should be rather informal and a bit less stuffy than standard political protocol. And most of these people are my friends as well. So the mood should not be too somber. I do not want to get too deep with the subject, just light the candle, as it were."
Sir Corley is the first to arrive. He does not escort Lady Ardel as he did last night, but no matter. It is not necessary to rush such things.
Sir Corley will grasp hands with the new Baron. “Good morning, my friend. It does look like a fine spread has been set out for us. What is this all about?”
"Indeed it is, my friend. This day I will officially take yet another step that I have planned and hoped for my entire life. Now I am responsible for Pyris and all of her people. It is a daunting, yet welcome task at this stage of my life."
"We did not want to overindulge this morning, what with the feast last night and more food to be served this evening. But I think it should satisfy all. As for what this is about, it is the initial meeting of the leaders that are reclaiming Stone Ridge. I want everyone to be of one mind and to start to get some opinions and ideas from other people. This cannot be only my plan any longer."
Once everyone else arrives, Validar begins the introductions. Some of the people are known to each other and some only met yesterday at the party. It is important that all know who is here and what their skills are.
“And my vow still remains,” Sir Corley states. Stepping up to the Lady Ardel, he’ll get down on one knee and take her hand. “I do swear, my lady, on my honor as a Knight of the Realm that I shall not rest until your lands have been freed of the scum that infest them and that you have been restored to your proper position!”
"With one such as Sir Corley on this path, we are assured of being sucessful," Validar adds. "He is as tenacious as they come."
"Indeed," Validar states. "These are two men that I trust with my life and I know they would die before allowing such a vow to go uncompleted. This action will not only help Stone Ridge, but be a significant event for most of western Cynalon."
Corley sits down with a heaping plate of food, accompanied by some smiles from some fo the others. Validar raises his cup to his friend. "I am not sure which is greater, the man's stomach or his heart. Truly each is boundless in their strength," Validar jokes.
Once the group has gotten their food, Validar will speak up again. "There are many avenues that this discourse can take, but I am certain that there are many questions that you each have, so perhaps we can begin there?"
“Based on our experiences at Fort Fletcher, it is clear that Stone Ridge is currently in the grips of winter, even with the removal of the Cold Maiden. It’ll be several months before the thaw and hopefully the issue with the Devilles will have been settled by then. From a strategic point of view, it seems obvious that we use Fort Fletcher as a base of operations for our sorties into Ardelphia. "I agree completely with Sir Corley's assesment," Acerion adds. "The dwarves' involvement will be vital and we should not lose any of what we have gained, and not only just with those dwarves who are our friends and companions. What is important to them should be important to us, as allowable by our King's design of course."
Validar notes that Ivy is silent throughout and appears quite uncomfortable and ill at ease. Her body language seems to indicate she does not want to be here and her silence adds to that impression. He wonders if there has been some rift or disagreement between the priestess and her paladin. Perhaps... then he lets the thought go before it is even formed.
"The position there is indeed strong. We have recovered the forts that have fallen in the immediate area and the invasion forces has been crushed before they could do too much damage. Corunglain is in a bit of a recovery period as well, so it is not likely to be able to secure Ardelphia militarially for some time."
"The rest of Corley's assessment is valid. I do not know how many sorties it will take to route the existing humanoid forces there. In my experience, there will come a time for a telling blow to come after some initial attacks. They question is how many of those will be required."
"A vital task will also be recovering the rest of the Guardian Shield. That will enable Stone Ridge to remain safe for the forseeable future. Clearly, we must complete the situation with the Devilles and winter gives us that time, as Corley mentioned. At the moment, I would consider the situation as progressing nicely."
Lady Ardel is rather quiet throughout the initial proceedings, Validar notes. He is not quite sure just yet how to read that. She could be learnign as she goes, or she could be overwhelmed by it all. She is very attentive to everything said, which is a good sign.
"Fort Fletcher is indeed the place to base our attacks from and with Fort Runnels recovered also, it is a staging point for whatever troops the Duke of Corunglain can offer to the campaign. One final concern will be to have a contingent of troops in place to catch or destroy stragglers that get driven away from our attacks and into the Duchy further. Rennydale is close and I should think that with the help that we have offered Lord Cavius recently, he can have some of his troops available for that task." Validar points out the idea on a wall map, showing how enemy could be swept out of the hills and towards Rennydale and the Streel River. "Here would be a point to have a future stronghold," he says indicating a spot near the town of Crowlerd and the hills that end nearby.
"We must look at this from a point of helping the people of the barony as well. Granted their numbers are depleted and many have scattered, but many remain as well. Their well-being is an important part of this task and we will need a social plan to not only assist these people, but also to bring others into the territory. My proposal would be to establish some sort of plan, on a larger scale, of course, similiar to what we did between Elcadan and Twin Forks. The priesthoods can assist in helping people move and spreading the word amongst the needy of Elcadan. Clearly, the city is over-crowded and there will be a need to rectify the sorry state of several of Elcadan's neighborhoods. Many of the people who are deserving could find a new life further north in either Ardelphia or other cities that would welcome strong workers."
Validar looks to Ivy briefly to see if see has a comment, but by her demeanor and silence, he passes that over quickly. He turns to Lady Ardel next. "What are your concerns about not only this campaign, but what will initially happen once the task has been completed? This will be a much different expereince than that of the Duke entering Elcadan. You will be starting nearly from scratch." Validar waits for Lady Ardel or others to add their thoughts.
