Cynalon Knights #10

The Guardians and the New Seekers are wrapping up their stay at Karn’s Keep.

Karn’s Keep:

Argent casts Detect Magic on the jewelry that Sherra found. None of it is magical.

Demons 101:
Baron Validar wrote:"So their chaotic nature can be used against them. The Pit Fiends we just fought seemed much more organized and structured. These demons are more individuals then? Of course, that can also create a situation where they do something we do not expect."
“That is the primary difference between a devil and a demon” Dame Sharl answers. “Both are powerful and intelligent, but devils are organized, demons are not. That is why the Herald of Hell prefers them to demons.”
Baron Validar wrote:"Still we shall be ready to combat them. Many of us have powerful magickal weapons, although I would recommend that everyone who does not have a Mithril weapon to carry an iron or preferably a silver weapon as well for the foreseeable future," Validar says to the Guardians and the Seekers. "Even after we defeat these enemies we must be ready for possible revenge attacks and other possible repercussions. Kharyna's predicament with the Cold Maiden shows how being in the wrong place can cause one harm, as Lyonessa unfortunately found out."

Crysania mentions some specific individuals and they will likely encounter them before they are done with the evil Deville family. "Everyone should prepare not only to fight against demons, but also undead and these Alu-demonesses. It is hard to say what other monstrous allies they may have as well."
“There are a few more things I can add,” Lord Sharadin continues. “A succubus is said to be able to entrance her victims. The same might hold true for an alu-demoness.”

“Also, there might be a possible defense against their innate teleportation. Any teleportation spell requires the mage to mentally picture the arrival point. Said arrival point also needs to be open. Moving objects into that area or putting any kind of blockage there might foil the teleport. It is said that teleporting into a solid object can be fatal. I would imagine that it would be the same for demons as well.”

Planet of the Silver Dragons:

Far away on the world of Hyperion, Silvarn escorts her guests through the silver dragon city.
The wonder of Silvarn's home is only increased in Yusef's eyes when he hears that Celestian is one of the best-known gods here! Also fascinating is the information that the dragons have their own pantheon of deities. "I would be very much interested to learn more of your gods, Silvarn," Yusef says. "I don't believe they are well-known on our world." It occurs to him that at least some of Celestian's servants must have knowledge of Draconic deities, but he never heard mention of them during his training.
“The draconian pantheon is small,” Silvarn explains. “Only two are of any particular interest to my people. First is Io, the great Ninefold Dragon, the father of all dragonkind. But most important to we silvers is Bahamut, the Lord of the North Wind. He is referred first among my people.”

Along the way, the group has met Zabrina, Silvarn’s distant niece. Discussion follows.
Ivy wrote:“No, none of us are from Alphatia. I haven’t heard much about them apart from them being a great empire built on magic. I never dreamed that they were not from our world.”
“Oh,” Zabrina answers. A look of embarrassment comes over young, flawless features. “I thought that was common knowledge there. I guess I don’t know as much about Arret as I thought. I hope I didn’t startle you with that.”
Zabrina's question reminds Yusef that he's different, and will never be like everyone else. "I am what is called a tiefling. A tiefling is essentially a human with some demon blood mixed in."
“Of course,” Zabrina responds, easily accepting the explanation. “That was my first thought, but I didn’t wish to make any rash judgments.”

After a short chat, Zabrina will excuse herself and continue on her way. Silvarn leads you deeper into the city and finally you arrive at your destination. It is a vast estate made of ice. There are numerous other girls there, but you can’t tell if they are former followers of Auril or silver dragons in humanoid form.

You’re shown inside the ice manor. It is very clean and inviting. Silvarn introduces you to the headmistress of this place, a human looking woman named Neve. Neve is happy to take in the new arrivals and is friendly to all. She’ll take the Auril artifacts off Silvarn’s hands and place them in a storage vault for the time being.

“You have my word that I’ll see them destroyed,” Neve promises.

A tour follows and Anja and Nina are assigned quarters. The place looks clean and most here do look happy. It certainly seems like a nice place.

“Has this trip answered all your questions?” Silvarn will inquire of you.

Plans...

Post by Validar »

Baron Validar of Pyris -

After the discussions about the demons are completed, Validar will bring up the topics of their upcoming plans.

"Our focus now is on righting the situation in Elcadan, assisting Duke Relon in a peaceful and complete transition of power and combating the enemies that will resist that change. Some of them have already been identified, such as the Deville family. Others will come up as they present themselves."

"Duke Relon will be accompanied by myself on a march to Elcadan. We will be travelling to Ansimont first to gain the assistance of that barony, at least politically, in support for claiming Elcadan itself."

"We will also have a contingent of people going to this estate which Yusef has identified, to hunt down the Devilles. Sir Corley will be leading this mission. Obviously Yusef will be part of this expedition and Sherra's skills fit this endeavor as well. Serena and Crysania have joined us for the foreseeable future and I would request their skills be used in this mission also."

"That leaves Sir Acerion, Ivy, Argent and Chareos who have the position to choose to join the expedition to Elcadan or the hunt for the Devilles. What say each of you?"

"The New Seekers consist of Dar Thaltus, Araduin, Blod, Arocken and Bernice. Arocken will be designated as leader of this group. They will be sent directly to Elcadan City. The mission is to ascertain the situation there as well as to deliver messages to the priesthoods that we are connected to: Heironeous, Azrella, Mystra. I would ask those of you who are members of those priesthoods to compose messages asking for their assistance in the coming change as well as asking for assistance in the helping of the citizens there. With the priesthoods' backing and the common people on our side, it will be easier to pull the merchant 'princes' into line or draw out direct confrontations."

"Azrellans will be helpful in assisting the poor in adapting to a new life situation, the Mystrans in reorganizing the knowledge base and combating the enemies and the Heironeous followers in enforcement and control of the city areas. It will help if they know what is about to happen and be ready to make their presence felt as much as possible."

"Once the messages have been delivered, then the Seekers continued mission is to spend a few days getting an idea of the overall condition of the city and whether the pending changes are noticed as yet and what is being done. Are the more soldiers than normal? How strict are the guards searches? How are the patrols on the roads around the city? While none of you have been to Elcadan before, you are wise enough to know whether the city seems more alert or prepared for something imminent. You will be provided with 1000 gold coins to use for the mission and to acquire any extra gear you may require. Once you have spent the time learning what is going on in Elcadan, then ride out on the road towards Ansimont and we should be no more than a day's ride away or so."

"The Guardians mission is to hunt down the Devilles. Whether they are killed or captured has not been spelled by the King specifically, and so I would rather see them all dead and destroyed. You have all been informed about the details of dealing with demons and should prepare yourselves appropriately, both in spells and weapons. Again, I would recommend everyone to carry at least one silver weapon at all times, including the Seekers. Once we have begun our opposition to the enemies, we cannot be certain that they will not try to twart us at any future time. Be on guard against any possible foe."

"Lady Ivy can provide information on Elcadan for those going there, and general maps are available once we return to Pyris. Does anyone have any comments or questions?

"Also, I would formally request each of you to be my honored guests at the ceremony to transfer the official title of Baron from Duke Relon to his son."

Demon Discussion:
"So their chaotic nature can be used against them.

"An understandable choice," Validar replies. "I would not relish an uncontrollable and incoherent group working for me either."

Lady Gabriella

Post by Gabriella »

Lady Gabriella:
"My heart has already been snared by one whom these vile temptresses cannot hope to compare themselves against," Validar whispers back.
“That’s sweet, but I’m being serious here,” Lady Gabriella answers. “They can look like anyone, including myself. It might behoove us to arrange a password only known between ourselves should our identity ever been in doubt.”
Baron Validar wrote:"Indeed. It is a journey I would join you on, my lady. I would wish to see the land of your mother's people as well. Perhaps we can even increase the cooperation between our kingdoms."
“It is a thought for someday,” Lady Allonica adds wistfully. “Alas, there is too much here demanding our attention that prevent such dreams from becoming reality.”
Yusef nods. "Very much so. I doubt I'd be comfortable until I was certain she was back safely with our family in Zakhara. Also, it would be a fascinating trip and a great chance to meet more of our family."
“I am sure such a thing can be arranged once the time is right.”
“I’ve spent most of my life in Elcadan,” Ivy answers. “I was raised at the temple there and when old enough undertook the training to be a priestess and an Undead Hunter. While I call it home, I can’t say that I know the city all that well. Especially any of the nobles.”
“That appears to be a circumstance that is about to change,” Lady Gabriella states easily. “The circle of people you travel among is changing and will continue to change. It can be intimidating to an outsider, but it’s not as daunting as it all might seem. If you ever wish to discuss the matter further, please seek me out. I will assist you in whatever way I can. I am sure we’ll speak more once we reach Pyris.”

Sir Corley

Post by Corley »

Sir Corley:
"You are a noble and honorable man, Sir Corley," Validar whispers even quieter than before. "More so than I. I believe in giving a man a chance, but should that chance and that grace be abused, then my judgment is harsh and final. Yusef seems to be a good man, but how well does anyone, except perhaps Sherra, know him?"
“By the same token, how well do we know any of those we travel with? Should he be judged differently because of the circumstances of his birth? We humans can be many different things from noble warriors to despicable villains and our bloodline does not come into question. I treat Yusef like anyone else I meet. I judge him by his words, and more importantly by his deeds. He has done nothing to question my trust in him.”

After the discussion about demons, Baron Validar begins to lay out the agenda of our actions in Elcadan. Sir Corley listens intently, but is surprised to be put in charge of this endeavor.
Baron Validar wrote:"We will also have a contingent of people going to this estate which Yusef has identified, to hunt down the Devilles. Sir Corley will be leading this mission. Obviously Yusef will be part of this expedition and Sherra's skills fit this endeavor as well. Serena and Crysania have joined us for the foreseeable future and I would request their skills be used in this mission also."
“A few questions come to my mind,” Sir Corley speaks up. “Will we be departing Pyris directly to Akorros, or would we be riding with you and the Duke until we reach the road to Akorros? The distance seems to be about the same either way, as one path would take us past Elcadan to reach the Akorros road. A trained woodsman accompanying us would be desirable, but alas they seem in short supply these days. How will we remain in contact? Are we to return after so many days? Things of that nature.”
Baron Validar wrote:"Also, I would formally request each of you to be my honored guests at the ceremony to transfer the official title of Baron from Duke Relon to his son."
“I would be honored to attend, my friend. It sounds like it will be a grand gala, the social event of the season in Pyris!”

Argent:

Argent determines that none of the jewelry Sherra uncovered is enchanted. “They are all clean of magic, Sherra.”

The next few days pass quickly as Argent learns more 5th level spells to compliment the two she already knew. Talk turns towards how to combat demons. After that, Validar lays out his plan of attack when it comes to Elcadan. It seems that our forces are being split up with some riding along with the Duke on his journey to Elcadan, and others traveling to the ruins of Akorros to seek out the Devilles.
Baron Validar wrote:"That leaves Sir Acerion, Ivy, Argent and Chareos who have the position to choose to join the expedition to Elcadan or the hunt for the Devilles. What say each of you?”
“That is an interesting decision,” Argent notes. “Both are of interest to me, but which to choose? While the chance to be in the city for a time is enticing, I feel my magical skills would be best served hunting down these demons. I have now mastered the Teleport spell and can use it to travel back and forth if need be.”

Argent looks to Chareos, assuming that he’ll be joining her.

Sir Corley wrote:“I would be honored to attend, my friend. It sounds like it will be a grand gala, the social event of the season in Pyris!”
“A grand gala?” Argent repeats, her interest piqued. “That sounds like it could be fun. I’ll need to pick up a new dress in Pyris first.”

Turning to Chareos, she asks, “Do you have anything nice to wear to the ball?”

I am sure we’ll speak more once we reach Pyris.”
“I guess that is true,” Ivy notes. Her life is changing ever since Acerion came into it and it will continue to change due to his noble status. “Thank you for the offer, that is most kind. I’m sure I’ll need all the help I can get.”
“Oh,” Zabrina answers. A look of embarrassment comes over young, flawless features. “I thought that was common knowledge there. I guess I don’t know as much about Arret as I thought. I hope I didn’t startle you with that.”
“Startle is not quite the word I would have used,” Ivy comments.
After a short chat, Zabrina will excuse herself and continue on her way. Silvarn leads you deeper into the city and finally you arrive at your destination. It is a vast estate made of ice. A tour follows and Anja and Nina are assigned quarters. The place looks clean and most here do look happy. It certainly seems like a nice place.
We are introduced to Neve who seems to run the rehabilitation center. She takes the magic items for Auril and locks them away, promising to destroy them later. The place does seem pleasant enough.
“Has this trip answered all your questions?” Silvarn will inquire of you.
“I believe so,” Ivy answers. “This place does seem to be all that you made it out to be and more.”

Turning to Anja, Ivy adds, “Are you sure you want to go through with this?”

Once back at Karn’s Keep, discussions turn to demons and how to deal with Elcadan.
Baron Validar wrote:"That leaves Sir Acerion, Ivy, Argent and Chareos who have the position to choose to join the expedition to Elcadan or the hunt for the Devilles. What say each of you?”
Ivy whispers to Sir Acerion, sitting beside her. “Both have importance to me, so much so that I don’t know which to choose. You decide our course of action. As long as we’re together where we go matters not.”
Baron Validar wrote:"Also, I would formally request each of you to be my honored guests at the ceremony to transfer the official title of Baron from Duke Relon to his son."
Sir Corley wrote:“I would be honored to attend, my friend. It sounds like it will be a grand gala, the social event of the season in Pyris!”
“A formal gala,” Ivy whispers to Sir Acerion. “I’ve never done such a thing before. It’s a bit intimidating! I think I’d rather be fighting a horde of undead!”

Jallarzi:

Lady Sallavarian listens intently as Validar outlines his plans.

“May I make a few suggestions, Baron?” Lady Sallavarian speaks up. “I have a great deal of knowledge when it comes to Elcadan. I frequently enter the city in disguise and have more than a few contacts, most of which do not know my true identity. I can give this group a list of necessary people to contact in Elcadan. I can provide letters to validate your party’s loyalties. I am sure that I know more about the city than anyone else here.”

“Elspeth is here among us and will be traveling back to Elcadan at some point. She can deliver the message to her temple. She is known and respected in Elcadan. No one will interfere with her. In fact, if your companions do not have mounts, then I can teleport them directly to my estate. They can ride into the city from there. I would recommend taking rooms at the High Road Inn. I know the innkeeper and he is a good man. Elspeth could even accompany them.”

“Do you know of any blacksmiths that may carry such a weapon?” he asks curiously as such a weapon may prove beneficial even in a pinch.
"We will also have a contingent of people going to this estate which Yusef has identified, to hunt down the Devilles. Sir Corley will be leading this mission. Argent looks to Chareos, assuming that he’ll be joining her.
“While I know the importance of both endeavors, my skills would be best served against the demons,” casting a glance at the wandering Priest. “Also, I gave my word to Yusef and will stand by it.”

“Not that I am aware. Almost all my clothes are travel worn.” Shrugging softly to himself, “I will have to see about acquiring something suitable.”

Lyonessa:

Bernice looks around for a moment and when seeing that the area is clear, she whispers to Lyonessa. "She tried to eat me!"

"Oh my!" Lyonessa replies. That wasn't what she was expecting to hear! Leaning in to whisper to Bernice, "We will just have to make sure that snake doesn't try to eat you or my faithful owl."

"Ah, so you are a Priestess of Mystra too, my songbird. Very interesting. You are an associate of Baron Validar, are you not? I can't help but wonder why someone of your obvious talent and charms chose the life of an adventurer. You would make quite a splash among the nobles in Alexandria or King's Port."

She smiles when Tanon calls her a songbird. In reply, Lyonessa says, "Yes I am currently a member of Baron Validar's group. Actually why I chose to be an adventurer was two-fold. First, I'm seeking my sister, whom I haven't seen in quite some time now. Unfortunately, I'm not sure where she was headed exactly."

Pausing for a moment, she then adds, "Second, I thought it would be better to gain some worldly experience and see new places and new peoples. What better way to not only do the will of Mystra but to acquire new stories and record great deeds upon where I could then return to such fine cities and entertain everyone."

“You see, dragonkind is far older then any of you suspect. We came into existence long before your world existed. We are not native to your world, but rather only visitors. Have you not ever wondered how dragons can be so powerful and yet not rule your world?”

Lyonessa thinks on this, "Actually Silvarn I had thought it was more because dragons kept the balance with one another. Also such great age allowed wisdom to transend petty notions like world conquest." She shrugs innocently, now that the truth has been revealed. one more myth destroyed, she thinks.

“Then there are entire worlds controlled by Auril then,” Nina asks with interest.

“Yes,” Silvarn simply answers. “But they are few in number.”

Lyonessa watches to see what reaction, if any, Nina gives after learning that.

“This is one my numerous nieces. Allow me to introduce Zabrina. She’s studying to be an actress in the numerous plays held here. This is Lyonessa, a Songstress of Mystra, Ivy of Azrella, Yusef of Celestian, and Anja and Nina who followed Auril. We are taking the girls to the Cold Maiden Rehabilitation Center.

“Pleased to meet you,” Zabrina states and she curtsies properly.

"A pleasure to meet you Zabrina," Lyonessa responds with a smile. "An actress? That sounds like quite a bit of fun."

“I take it that all of you are from Arret?” Zabrina asks. “The epic plays based on the life of Nylsara paint it a very interesting place. I’m hoping to be assigned there myself someday so that I can learn more about her story and someday portray her on stage.”

The name Nylsara doesn't sound familar to Lyonessa. As she tries to remember, an explination soon follows. That would definitely be quite an interesting play to see if Zabrina puts in such dedication to her acting.

“Hello,” Zabrina says to the stranger. “Forgive me for being so forward, but what race are you? You appear human, but different in other ways.”

Zabrina's question reminds Yusef that he's different, and will never be like everyone else. "I am what is called a tiefling. A tiefling is essentially a human with some demon blood mixed in."

Lyonessa regards Yusef for a moment and thinks she sees him a bit uneasy, or maybe sad. If he glances her way, she gives him a reassuring smile.

A tour follows and Anja and Nina are assigned quarters. The place looks clean and most here do look happy. It certainly seems like a nice place.

“Has this trip answered all your questions?” Silvarn will inquire of you.

"It looks nice enough, considering the trials that lay ahead for them," Lyonessa says as she looks about. "Of course the trip here has given me all kinds of other questions, Silvarn! Maybe some other time there will be an opportunity for those."

She will look at Anja after Ivy speaks to her. "Remember you can be anything you want to be now," she says with a smile. "I hope to see you again soon."

Lyonessa seems to have been left out, unless she missed something. Still, she figures Validar is juggling enough to try to remember, and she doesn't pay it any mind.

"I might be best to accompany you, Baron Validar," Lyonessa offers. "Most of my spells are not suitable to face off against demons, but they might be useful to persuade those who seek to hinder us unneccessarily."

She will see what he thinks of her suggestion.

"Also, I would formally request each of you to be my honored guests at the ceremony to transfer the official title of Baron from Duke Relon to his son."

“I would be honored to attend, my friend. It sounds like it will be a grand gala, the social event of the season in Pyris!”

“A grand gala?” Argent repeats, her interest piqued. “That sounds like it could be fun. I’ll need to pick up a new dress in Pyris first.”

"That would be most joyous!" Lyonessa agrees, then hears Argent say something she will need to look into. "I might need to find a new one as well. I didn't bring my best when I began adventuring, and this occassion surely calls for something new!"

Baron Validar of Pyris-

Lady Gabriella Allonica:
“That’s sweet, but I’m being serious here,” Lady Gabriella answers. “They can look like anyone, including myself. It might behoove us to arrange a password only known between ourselves should our identity ever been in doubt.”

"You are correct. There are other ways to replicate the appearance of someone, besides these demonesses. It makes sense. At a time when we are alone, we can make such a code word," Validar responds turnign serious himself.

They will make the code words be: "A blue ruby is a rare find."

"Indeed.

"That is true. Priorities draw our attention for the moment. I for one am looking forward to completing our next tasks."

Sir Corley:
“By the same token, how well do we know any of those we travel with? Should he be judged differently because of the circumstances of his birth? We humans can be many different things from noble warriors to despicable villains and our bloodline does not come into question. I treat Yusef like anyone else I meet. I judge him by his words, and more importantly by his deeds. He has done nothing to question my trust in him.”

The baron smiles at Sir Corley briefly. "The problem is we do not fully understand the circumstances of his birth, do we? We did not treat Po the same as we did Lyonessa when they joined us, did we? The were small precautions taken. If someone was from Keln or raised by Hextorites, I would certainly treat them the slightest bit different, at least at first. Demons are evil and he has this blood flowing throw them. I do not believe in moral relativism. Some things are just are what they are, circumstances or no. I do not begrudge you your viewpoint, but I do not share it in total, at least not as yet."

Planning Meeting:
“A few questions come to my mind,” Sir Corley speaks up. “Will we be departing Pyris directly to Akorros, or would we be riding with you and the Duke until we reach the road to Akorros? The distance seems to be about the same either way, as one path would take us past Elcadan to reach the Akorros road. A trained woodsman accompanying us would be desirable, but alas they seem in short supply these days. How will we remain in contact? Are we to return after so many days? Things of that nature.”

"Some very good questions, my friend. I should think that we shall all travel together to Ansimont. It will give us a greater show of force when we ride into town and a bit more splendor for the new Duke to be accompanied by several knights of the realm. Then we can break off from there, complete our negotiations with the Baron for a time and move on to Elcadan."

"As for a woodsman, we have seemed to have lost all that we had: Sherwood, Laucian, Lilia. The Seekers are not large enough to spare one of the elves, so that is not an option as well. Perhaps we will have someone in Pyris that the Duke can recommend."

"Contact will be a challenging situation. Lady Argent has teleportation abilities, but I do not know how we could stay in communication. Are there any spells that allow long distance communication, Argent?"

"That leaves Sir Acerion, Ivy, Argent and Chareos who have the position to choose to join the expedition to Elcadan or the hunt for the Devilles.

"That does indeed make sense and was the choice I expected." Chareos soon also joins that expedition.

“While I know the importance of both endeavors, my skills would be best served against the demons,” casting a glance at the wandering Priest. “Also, I gave my word to Yusef and will stand by it.”

"Very good. There shall not be a lack of spellcasters in this group and with the potential enemies, it should be prudent to have such a strong force."

Validar listens to Jallarzi's comments and siuggestions. "Your assistance would be greatly appreciated and certainly increase the ease of their mission. The more contacts we have the better. Thank you for such an offer. Can we increase that assistance further by having you recommend a possible huntsman or two that could assist Sir Corley's group? He could meet them in Ansimont perhaps."

"Even better. I do not believe anyone has mounts at the moment and they can be gained along the way easily enough, as opposed to from the Pyrisian stables. All of your information is a boon and Elspeth's presence would be fabulous. Thank you both for the assistance."

When Lyonessa speaks up, Validar realizes his mistake immediately. "You are correct, Lyonessa. That is a fine point and we would welcome your presence on several levels." He pauses for a moment, catching the look in her eye. "And I apologize for the oversight. There are a large number of individuals here."

Validar then sees Ivy and Acerion whispering. He expects them to choose to join him, but should they decide to join the hunt for the Devilles then Validar may pull Sir Corley off that mission to join him.

Baron Validar of Pyris -

Gala discussion:
"Also, I would formally request each of you to be my honored guests at the ceremony to transfer the official title of Baron from Duke Relon to his son."

“I would be honored to attend, my friend. It sounds like it will be a grand gala, the social event of the season in Pyris!”

"Perhaps, perhaps not, my good friend," Validar responds. "It is an important event for the people, and we shall not deny them that, but we also must be on our way soon, as the ceremony of the new Duke will dwarf this celebration quite certainly."

Most of the group express interest in the event, some more than others.

"I am certain that attendants at the castle can assist in anyone needing anything either for the celebration or the upcoming missions. I will put some of our people at your disposals."

Baron Validar will have some conversations with Lady Gabriella about coordinating their outfits for the Transfer Ceremony. While she will not be at his side during all the festivities, it is important on several levels to note their connection.

Validar will be dressed in his white military uniform with a long fur-trimmed cloak bearing his coat of arms. The inside lining is green silk and he has a few green accessories. His attendants are also dressed mostly in green. Lady Gabriella will be dressed in a beautiful soft pink silk gown with some matching green panels and inserts. Her jewels are abundant as usual, and predominated by emeralds which is the official gem used in the Baron and Baroness' coronet.

Sir Acerion:

"That leaves Sir Acerion, Ivy, Argent and Chareos who have the position to choose to join the expedition to Elcadan or the hunt for the Devilles. What say each of you?”

Ivy whispers to Sir Acerion, sitting beside her. “Both have importance to me, so much so that I don’t know which to choose. You decide our course of action. As long as we’re together where we go matters not.”

Acerion seems to weigh the decision for quite some time. He leans in close to Ivy and says, "I agree that both are vitally important, so much so that it is a shame all of us can not tackle both tasks."

Looking to Validar, Acerion finally says, "I believe it best if Ivy and I travel with you to Elcadan."

"Also, I would formally request each of you to be my honored guests at the ceremony to transfer the official title of Baron from Duke Relon to his son."

“A formal gala,” Ivy whispers to Sir Acerion. “I’ve never done such a thing before. It’s a bit intimidating! I think I’d rather be fighting a horde of undead!”

"And you think I have?" Acerion says with a chuckle. "True I have attended affairs held by my grandmother, but I believe I would feel more at home battling another six-armed priestess of some foul faith! Still, it is a very important time for our friend. We will just have to find something appropriate for you to wear, my love."

To Validar, he says, "It would be an honor to be in attendance for such an occassion, Validar. Thank you for the invite."

"I am certain that attendants at the castle can assist in anyone needing anything either for the celebration or the upcoming missions. I will put some of our people at your disposals."

"See there?" Acerion says to Ivy. "I will make sure you are dressed in the finest attire befitting one of such beauty as yourself. I too may have need of something finer than my robes," he continues, pondering. "Everything else of any finery I have is back in Alexandria."

Baron Validar of Pyris -

Sir Acerion:
Looking to Validar, Acerion finally says, "I believe it best if Ivy and I travel with you to Elcadan."

"Very good, my friend," Validar says. "Rest assured, I was prepared for the eventuality that you made the alternate choice. When we return to Pyris, we will know when the Duke expects to leave, but I would imagine that it would be soon after we arrive. He is very interested to claim the title and begin the process of reclaiming Elcadan."

"Also, I would formally request each of you to be my honored guests at the ceremony to transfer the official title of Baron from Duke Relon to his son."

To Validar, he says, "It would be an honor to be in attendance for such an occassion, Validar. Thank you for the invite."

"Most certainly. You are all valuable friends and I thank you for honoring me with your presence. Much like knighthood, it is a reward I had been waiting for my whole life. I did not expect it so soon."

"While we may not have the luxuries and wares of Alexandria or even Elcadan, Pyris is no backwater land either. We have caravans from afar and our own craftsmen and tradesman are quite talented."

"The attendants will be able to direct you to the best places here in the city for whatever you may need. The Duke and Duchess have contacts with the finest purveyors in the city as well."

Yusef:
Gabriella wrote:“I am sure such a thing can be arranged once the time is right.”
"Thank you, Lady Gabriella," Yusef replies with a happy smile.

--
Silvarn wrote:“The draconian pantheon is small,” Silvarn explains. “Only two are of any particular interest to my people. First is Io, the great Ninefold Dragon, the father of all dragonkind. But most important to we silvers is Bahamut, the Lord of the North Wind. He is referred first among my people.”
Yusef nods as he listens to Silvarn's explanation. "Hmm... Are each of the other dragon races represented within the pantheon by their own god, or is less structured than that?"
Lyonessa wrote:Lyonessa regards Yusef for a moment and thinks she sees him a bit uneasy, or maybe sad. If he glances her way, she gives him a reassuring smile.
Yusef catches Lyonessa's look out of the corner of his eye. At first, he thinks she is maybe enjoying his discomfort, but the warmth in her smile dispells that notion.

Maybe this is what having friends is like...
Zabrina wrote:“Of course,” Zabrina responds, easily accepting the explanation. “That was my first thought, but I didn’t wish to make any rash judgments.”
"Understandable, I suppose," Yusef replies. "I hope my presense doesn't make you or others uncomfortable."

The manor Silvarn leads them to is quite striking, and appears to be a pleasant place. Yusef keeps his eyes open for any indication that things are not really as they appear, though he doesn't expect to find any. Silver dragons are simply not inclined in that way. Still, Yusef's natural suspicion is hard to suppress.

Yusef is pleased when Neve promises to see the Aurillian artifacts destroyed, though he doesn't comment on it?
Silvarn wrote:“Has this trip answered all your questions?” Silvarn will inquire of you.
"Can you or Neve tell us a little more about the treatment process provided here for people like Anja and Nina?"

Before they leave, Yusef seeks out Anja. "Should you decide to return at some point, I hope to see you and hear what you decide to do with your life. May your path be a pleasing one."

---

The planning meeting stretches on. Many things are said and many questions asked. However, much of it doesn't really make an impression on Yusef, so focussed is he on the prospect of rescuing his mother.

Validar assigns some of the group between the two missions to be performed, and others are left to their choice. Argent chooses to join the hunt for the Devilles, as does Chareos.
Chareos wrote:“While I know the importance of both endeavors, my skills would be best served against the demons,” casting a glance at the wandering Priest. “Also, I gave my word to Yusef and will stand by it.”
Yusef looks over at Chareos. "Thank you, Chareos. I appreciate your support."
Chareos wrote:“Do you know of any blacksmiths that may carry such a weapon?” he asks curiously as such a weapon may prove beneficial even in a pinch.
Chareos' question voices his own concern, so Yusef listens for any answer that may be forthcoming. He has several weapons that could be silvered to good advantage.

Alarmingly, there is talk of a formal ceremony to honor Validar and his father. Yusef knows nothing of such things and can only guess at how to dress and behave. Like so many others, he has no fancy clothing of any sort.

Yusef turns to Sherra. "What do you think of this? I have never been to anything of the sort. I don't even know what kind of clothes to wear, and many of the others seemed concerned about the issue. Is this something you can help me with?"
Validar wrote:"I am certain that attendants at the castle can assist in anyone needing anything either for the celebration or the upcoming missions. I will put some of our people at your disposals."
He's not entirely certain, but it seems to Yusef that this is the best answer available to both of his questions. He will have to find someone here in the castle to help him find clothes and silvered weapons.

Sherra:
Argent determines that none of the jewelry Sherra uncovered is enchanted. “They are all clean of magic, Sherra.”
"Disappointing, but only partly," Sherra says after learning it's just plain jewelry. She definitely takes the armband for herself, figuring the rest can be divided up among those who were there. If there's absolutely no interest, Sherra has no problem taking all of the jewelry. She can not doubt put it to good use!
Sherra raises an eyebrow and then nods in agreement. After all, if Yusef gets seduced, she'll have to show the seducer the error of her ways. "Looks like you're stuck with me," she says leaning in to Yusef.
Yusef turns to Sherra. "What do you think of this? I have never been to anything of the sort. I don't even know what kind of clothes to wear, and many of the others seemed concerned about the issue. Is this something you can help me with?"
"And what precisely makes you think I've ever been to one these?" Sherra asks with a curious gaze. "If it wasn't Validar, I would suggest we just convienently disappear, however there's no way I'm getting into a dress!"

She studies Yusef a moment and says, "You however, I think we can find something for that would make you look quite dashing."

Lyonessa wrote:"Oh my!" Lyonessa replies. That wasn't what she was expecting to hear! Leaning in to whisper to Bernice, "We will just have to make sure that snake doesn't try to eat you or my faithful owl."
“I like that idea,” Bernice whispers back with her toothy grin.
Lyonessa wrote:She smiles when Tanon calls her a songbird.

Tanon nods his understanding. “Then I assume that my words will not sway you from your mission? I thought not. A pity. When you do decide to grace us with your talent and charms, do not hesitate to contact me. I can put you in touch with the proper people. Until we meet again, my songbird.”

Lord Radu will bow and step away.

Baron Validar wrote:"Even better. I do not believe anyone has mounts at the moment and they can be gained along the way easily enough, as opposed to from the Pyrisian stables. All of your information is a boon and Elspeth's presence would be fabulous. Thank you both for the assistance."
“I am happy to help,” Elspeth answers with a slight bow. “Only good things can come from Duke Relon’s rule.”

“It’s settled then,” Lady Salavarian continues. “I’ll transport Elspeth and your companions to my estate the morning we all depart Pyris. I’ll then return to Pyris to join the Duke on his ride.”

Planet of the Silver Dragons:
Lyonessa wrote:Lyonessa watches to see what reaction, if any, Nina gives after learning that.
Nina will seem pleased by Silvarn’s revelation that there are worlds that full under Auril’s sway.
Lyonessa wrote:Lyonessa thinks on this, "Actually Silvarn I had thought it was more because dragons kept the balance with one another. Also such great age allowed wisdom to transcend petty notions like world conquest." She shrugs innocently, now that the truth has been revealed. One more myth destroyed, she thinks.
“You are partially correct,” Silvarn states. “We silvers and golds are out there trying to keep our more aggressive cousins in check. While we all came from Io, each type of dragon has changed considerably over the passing of time. There are those, reds in particular, that can only be called evil incarnate. They would wantonly destroy and devour any who crossed their paths. Left unchecked, they would overwhelm your world. With great age, they only attain great power and great desire, not great wisdom.”
Lyonessa wrote:"A pleasure to meet you Zabrina," Lyonessa responds with a smile. "An actress? That sounds like quite a bit of fun."
“It can be a great deal of fun,” Zabrina answers excitedly. “I have the desire to entertain, but alas cannot sing particularly well, so I seek to be become an actress instead. Do you have interest in the theater?”
Yusef wrote:Yusef nods as he listens to Silvarn's explanation. "Hmm... Are each of the other dragon races represented within the pantheon by their own god, or is less structured than that?"
“The draconic pantheon consists of only six gods,” Silvarn explains. “There are far more than six races of dragons, so each race does not have their own individual deity. Instead some follow other gods, including some of your human ones. This is common, especially among those dragons that can innately change forms.”

“There are the two I mentioned before, Io the creator and Bahamut who is revered by we silvers along with the gold and bronze dragons. There is also Aasterinian who is a playful goddess favored by the brass and copper dragons. Chronepsis is the draconic deity of fate, death, and judgment. None sane worship him, but all respect him.”

“The last two are the most terrifying of the dragon gods. First is Tiamat, who is a gigantic dragon with five heads. Each head is the color of the chromatic dragons: blue, red, white, green, and black. She is the goddess they favor. Lastly, but not least is Faluzure, the terrifying Night Dragon. He is a being of decay, undeath, and energy draining. He hates both Bahamut and Tiamat with a passion. All dragons fear him, and rightfully so, save for the shadow dragons who revere him.”

Yusef wrote:"Understandable, I suppose," Yusef replies. "I hope my presence doesn't make you or others uncomfortable."
“Not at all,” Zabrina speaks up. “Aunt Silvarn would not have brought you here if she thought you were a danger. We silvers have encountered numerous races and numerous other beings. We can alter our own forms with but a whim. We’ve learned to not put much value on appearance. It’s what’s inside that really matters as appearances can be deceiving.”

Silvarn leads the travels onwards and they soon reach their destination. You are shown the place where Nina and Anja will be staying for a time. Silvarn inquires if you’re satisfied.
Ivy wrote:"I believe so," Ivy answers. "This place does seem to be all that you made it out to be and more."

Turning to Anja, Ivy adds, "Are you sure you want to go through with this?"
“I am sure,” Anja says with an easy smile. “I have to be sure that her taint is gone from me for good. And, I wish to make sure my sister is all right. I do want to return some day, Ivy. I am intrigued by the teachings of your goddess. I think I would like to learn more someday.”
Lyonessa wrote:"It looks nice enough, considering the trials that lay ahead for them," Lyonessa says as she looks about. "Of course the trip here has given me all kinds of other questions, Silvarn! Maybe some other time there will be an opportunity for those."
“That is good,” Silvarn says with a smile. “Keep an open mind and do not stop trying to learn more.”
Lyonessa wrote:She will look at Anja after Ivy speaks to her. "Remember you can be anything you want to be now," she says with a smile. "I hope to see you again soon."
“I realize that now,” Anja answers. “I am sure that we’ll meet again.”
Yusef wrote:"Can you or Neve tell us a little more about the treatment process provided here for people like Anja and Nina?"
“We try to show them the harm they are actually doing,” Neve answers speaking up. “What the Cold Maiden fails to tell them is that a perpetual winter makes survival difficult for even the hardiest of races. That spring, summer, and fall are all necessary to the cycle of life. All of their place, but none can be forced upon them.”

“Among my staff are many who were former followers of the Cold Maiden in the past but have learned the error of their ways. They are the best tutors, as they were once in the same place as our new arrivals. Divinations are cast regularly to see how each woman is coming along, so any who are trying to deceive us will be discovered. The process will take as long as necessary. It varies from woman to woman.”

Neve will give Anja a Ring of Warmth, so that she can survive here without her priestly protection from cold.

Yusef wrote:Before they leave, Yusef seeks out Anja. "Should you decide to return at some point, I hope to see you and hear what you decide to do with your life. May your path be a pleasing one."
“Thank you,” Anja says, tears welling up in her eyes. She’ll give each of you a big hug as she makes her goodbyes. “Thank you all. I owe you all so much. Until we meet again, be well.”

GM Notes

GM Notes:

While silver will harm demons, silver itself does not make good weapons. It is a soft metal and one that will wear and even bend with repeated use. Thus silver weapons tend to be more ornamental in nature, than practical. All are custom made to the buyer specifications and are expensive. Silver weapons are typically five times more expensive than their normal counterparts.

Cold Iron Weapons are more common and can be purchased in larger cities at a rate of 150% cost of a normal weapon.

And remember, magical weapons will hurt most demons. Only the more powerful demons are immune to lesser-enchanted weapons and succubus and alu-demons are not as powerful.

It seems that we have our groupings set for the next time the games split. Over in New Frontiers you’ve just arrived at Pyris. From there you’ll be riding with Duke Relon as he makes his way to Elcadan by way of Ansimont. The road to Akorros lies in between Elcadan and Ansimont and that is where the groups will split up.

The journey to Akorros and dealing with the Devilles will then continue in New Frontiers. This group will contain Sir Corley, Yusef, Sherra, Serena, Crysania, Argent, and Chareos.

Cynalon Knights will focus on the group that continues on with Duke Relon. This includes Baron Validar, Lyonessa, Ivy, Sir Acerion, Jallarzi, and Lady Gabriella.

The New Seekers are all NPC’s and will only turn up when they cross paths with either group.

Now what?

Lady Gabriella:
Baron Validar wrote:"You are correct. There are other ways to replicate the appearance of someone, besides these demonesses. It makes sense. At a time when we are alone, we can make such a code word," Validar responds turning serious himself.
“Since it seems that there are numerous couples amongst your companions, I would suggest that they do the same. We cannot be too careful in this endeavor.”

The code phrase is agreeable to Gabriella.
Ivy wrote:"I guess that is true," Ivy notes. Her life is changing ever since Acerion came into it and it will continue to change due to his noble status. "Thank you for the offer, that is most kind. I'm sure I'll need all the help I can get."
“I am sure that this is all very strange to you now,” Lady Gabriella states. “But it will become normal over time. Your new status will allow you to help many more people than you could before. You’ll be in a position to offer advice and opinion to those who do rule. Once Stone Ridge is reclaimed, Lady Ardel will become its rightful baroness. She’ll need the advice and help of those nobles with her, such as Sir Acerion whose family has roots there.”
Baron Validar wrote:"I am certain that attendants at the castle can assist in anyone needing anything either for the celebration or the upcoming missions. I will put some of our people at your disposals."
“And I will offer my assistance to those ladies who wish it. Many of us are of similar stature and build. I am sure that there is something from my collection that will fit you and your tastes.”

Later on in private, Gabriella has a question for Validar. “We spoke earlier about arranging a brunch with ourselves, Lady Vera, and Sir Corley. Perhaps we might wish to include Sir Acerion and Lady Ivy as well, since we envision them as being the nobility of Stone Ridge. As a way of getting them used to each other’s company. What do you think?”

Sir Corley:
Baron Validar wrote:"Some very good questions, my friend. I should think that we should all travel together to Ansimont. It will give us a greater show of force when we ride into town and a bit more splendor for the new Duke to be accompanied by several knights of the realm. Then we can break off from there, complete our negotiations with the Baron for a time and move on to Elcadan."
“A sound plan,” Sir Corley agrees.
Sir Corley wrote:"As for a woodsman, we have seemed to have lost all that we had: Sherwood, Laucian, Lilia. The Seekers are not large enough to spare one of the elves, so that is not an option as well. Perhaps we will have someone in Pyris that the Duke can recommend."
“Perhaps Lady Sallavarian can assist us in that matter?”
Baron Validar wrote:"Perhaps, perhaps not, my good friend," Validar responds. "It is an important event for the people, and we shall not deny them that, but we also must be on our way soon, as the ceremony of the new Duke will dwarf this celebration quite certainly."
“Indeed it shall. It’s been a long time since I partook in such a celebration. It will be a welcomed change from the road and battling evil.”

“Then we’ll both have to go shopping for proper attire.”
Lyonessa wrote:"That would be most joyous!" Lyonessa agrees, and then hears Argent say something she will need to look into. "I might need to find a new one as well. I didn't bring my best when I began adventuring, and this occasion surely calls for something new!"
“My thoughts exactly!” Argent agrees. “After all, we are now nobles ourselves. It would be wise to make a good impression.”

Lady Gabriella wrote:“And I will offer my assistance to those ladies who wish it. Many of us are of similar stature and build. I am sure that there is something from my collection that will fit you and your tastes.”
“That is most kind of you, Lady Gabriella. I may very well take you up on your offer.”

Argent notes that she and Lady Gabriella are very nearly the same size, with Argent being a bit thinner, so it might be doable. And Argent approves of her taste in dresses.
Baron Validar wrote:"Contact will be a challenging situation. Lady Argent has teleportation abilities, but I do not know how we could stay in communication. Are there any spells that allow long distance communication, Argent?"
“There is one that I just learned that can accomplish this, but alas communication is only permitted by the caster. It is a Dream spell, where the caster can enter the dreams of another to deliver a message. The receiver will remember what was said upon awakening, but cannot respond in any way.”
Lady Gabriella wrote:“Since it seems that there are numerous couples amongst your companions, I would suggest that they do the same. We cannot be too careful in this endeavor.”
“That seems like a wise precaution. Later in private, Argent will suggest the code phrase of “Does it go with my Tiara?” to Chareos.

Ivy:
Lady Gabriella wrote:“I am sure that this is all very strange to you now,” Lady Gabriella states.
“I really hadn’t even considered that yet, but you are correct Lady Gabriella. It’s hard for me to even think that far ahead right now. We’re not even married yet, so the idea of settling down to a noble life style is not even in my mind.”
Anja wrote:“I am sure,” Anja says with an easy smile. “I have to be sure that her taint is gone from me for good. And, I wish to make sure my sister is all right. I do want to return some day, Ivy. I am intrigued by the teachings of your goddess. I think I would like to learn more someday.”
“When the time comes, I’ll be glad to teach you,” Ivy promises.
Anja wrote:“Thank you,” Anja says, tears welling up in her eyes. She’ll give each of you a big hug as she makes her goodbyes. “Thank you all. I owe you all so much. Until we meet again, be well.”
“Be well yourself,” Ivy responds, trying not to cry herself.

After returning to Karn’s Keep, Ivy will seek out Sir Acerion and tell him of her trip. She’ll ask how he is and if there is anything he wishes to discuss. Later they attend the planning meeting.
Sir Acerion wrote:Acerion seems to weigh the decision for quite some time. He leans in close to Ivy and says, "I agree that both are vitally important, so much so that it is a shame all of us can not tackle both tasks."
“We may very well become embroiled in the battles against that evil after all. Only Istus knows what will happen.”
Sir Acerion wrote:Looking to Validar, Acerion finally says, "I believe it best if Ivy and I travel with you to Elcadan."
“Once there we will be able to liaison with our respective temples for the new Duke.”
Sir Acerion wrote:"And you think I have?" Acerion says with a chuckle. "True I have attended affairs held by my grandmother, but I believe I would feel more at home battling another six-armed priestess of some foul faith! Still, it is a very important time for our friend. We will just have to find something appropriate for you to wear, my love."
Ivy’s face reddens with embarrassment slightly and she’ll hug Acerion. “I’m sorry. I just assumed that since you were a nobleman… Nonetheless, I am glad that I am not the only one intimidated by this idea.”
Baron Validar wrote:"I am certain that attendants at the castle can assist in anyone needing anything either for the celebration or the upcoming missions. I will put some of our people at your disposals."
Sir Acerion wrote:"See there?" Acerion says to Ivy. "I will make sure you are dressed in the finest attire befitting one of such beauty as yourself. I too may have need of something finer than my robes," he continues, pondering. "Everything else of any finery I have is back in Alexandria."
Ivy’s face reddens further. “Now you’re just embarrassing me. I suppose that things like this are something that I need to get used to in the future. I will be happy for any assistance I can get. These next few days are going to be challenging ones.”

Baron Validar of Pyris -

Planning Session:
"Can we increase that assistance further by having you recommend a possible huntsman or two that could assist Sir Corley's group? He could meet them in Ansimont perhaps."

“I know of a few,” Lady Sallavarian answers. “My cousin Sherwood and I have a pool of associates we can draw upon. It’s simply a matter of who is available. I’ll provide your group with a list of people to seek out.”

"Thank you most kindly, cousin. As always you go beyond expectations. A woodsman or two will make the missions much more favorable, I am certain."

"Even better. I do not believe anyone has mounts at the moment and they can be gained along the way easily enough, as opposed to from the Pyrisian stables. All of your information is a boon and Elspeth's presence would be fabulous. Thank you both for the assistance."

“I am happy to help,” Elspeth answers with a slight bow. “Only good things can come from Duke Relon’s rule.”

"Indeed. Pyris has thrived and grown under his wise rule and he will be effective in pulling all the various identities currently in Elcadan into one cohesive unit. Elcadan will once more be one of the shining jewels of Cynalon with all of your assistance."

“It’s settled then,” Lady Salavarian continues. “I’ll transport Elspeth and your companions to my estate the morning we all depart Pyris. I’ll then return to Pyris to join the Duke on his ride.”

"That is an ideal situation. We will be travelling to Pyris in the morning. The following day should be the ransfer Ceremony and then I am sure Duke Relon will be ready to leave soon after that."

“A sound plan,” Sir Corley agrees.

Looking to Validar, Acerion finally says, "I believe it best if Ivy and I travel with you to Elcadan."

“Once there we will be able to liaison with our respective temples for the new Duke.”

"That was my expectation, as well. Letting them you that we are coming is the first stage. Once we arrive, there will be much assistance that each of you can provide for the Duke."

"Contact will be a challenging situation. Lady Argent has teleportation abilities, but I do not know how we could stay in communication. Are there any spells that allow long distance communication, Argent?"

“There is one that I just learned that can accomplish this, but alas communication is only permitted by the caster. It is a Dream spell, where the caster can enter the dreams of another to deliver a message. The receiver will remember what was said upon awakening, but cannot respond in any way.”

"So essentially this is one-way communication. If that is the best we can manage at the moment, then while not an ideal situation, it is something at the least. We shall have to make use of the contacts that Jallarzi provides as well, should that be necessary. We will supply lists to each of you."

"Very well, Argent. Also, you have a Crystal Ball, do you not? That can be used by your group to view others, especially other Guardians. Between the two, it may be possible to achieve a level of communication. For instance, should you enter one of our dreams with you spell and ask a question we could write an answer at an agreed upon time to respond back in some way. It is crude, to be sure, but it may work should it be necessary. I would recommend keeping this Dream Spell available to you."

"Everyone should enjoy themselves as we will all be back on the road again very soon. Are there any other questions?"

Baron Validar -

Lady Gabriella Allonica:
"You are correct. There are other ways to replicate the appearance of someone, besides these demonesses. It makes sense. At a time when we are alone, we can make such a code word," Validar responds turning serious himself.

“Since it seems that there are numerous couples amongst your companions, I would suggest that they do the same. We cannot be too careful in this endeavor.”

The code phrase is agreeable to Gabriella.

Validar considers for a moment. "That is a wise decision. We might also consider a group code as well. There is no reason to assume that a demon would not attempt to duplicate Sherra in order to get to Chareos for instance."

Validar will put this suggestion up to everyone at the meeting, as well. "It has been brought up by the wise and lovely Lady Gabriella that since demons and their off-spring can be shape-changers and are cunning and fiendishly devious, that we should have code words in order to be certain that one is who they claim to be."

"Also individual couples or strong friendships should have a code phrase between them. It is these relationships that are the most delicate as well as the most damaging to assail. My lady and I have already chosen one between us."

"The Seekers will also have their own code word for identification, as a group." Validar will provide these to each person privately as well as to the Guardians.

The Seekers code phrase is: "A blow with a word strikes deeper than any sword."

The Guardians code phrase is: "It is better to light one candle than curse the Darkness."

----------------------------------
"I guess that is true," Ivy notes.

“I really hadn’t even considered that yet, but you are correct Lady Gabriella. It’s hard for me to even think that far ahead right now. We’re not even married yet, so the idea of settling down to a noble life style is not even in my mind.”

"Gabriella is correct, Ivy of Azrella. Consider this new-found challenge as a gift and a tool to be used to further your selfless desires. I know some of your heart and you will be a boon to the people."

"Stone Ridge will be reclaimed. Lady Ardel will be her ruler and Sir Acerion will be charged to help stabilize and grow the area. With you by his side, there is much good that can be done for many. Indeed there is much that will be needed to be done. If Acerion accepts his family's lands, they will become yours as well upon your marriage. This life may seem quite different at the moment, but it is the path you are inevitably upon."

---------------------------------------------
Later on in private, Gabriella has a question for Validar.

"It is an agreeable option, Gabriella. It will also help to conceal some of our inobvious intentions all the more. I will make arrangements for the day we return to Pyris, as we shall not likely be there long."

“Indeed it shall. It’s been a long time since I partook in such a celebration. It will be a welcomed change from the road and battling evil.”

"We all deserve the chance to have a joyous time and a marvelous party. While I enjoy the life of combat and battle, it will be a delight to dance with the lovely Lady Allonica and enjoy the nature of the day."

Many of the group seem intimidated by the thoughts of the event coming, however.

Ivy’s face reddens further. “Now you’re just embarrassing me. I suppose that things like this are something that I need to get used to in the future. I will be happy for any assistance I can get. These next few days are going to be challenging ones.”

"I can assure you that the time will be a fun and joyous one for all. While we have our pomp and circumstance in Pyris, we are not so regemented and stuffy as many of the older baronies. The food will be marvelous, the drink abundant and the company most pleasureable."

Lyonessa:

Tanon nods his understanding. “Then I assume that my words will not sway you from your mission? I thought not. A pity. When you do decide to grace us with your talent and charms, do not hesitate to contact me. I can put you in touch with the proper people. Until we meet again, my songbird.”

"That's sweet, but no I am needed right now, and I must find my sister. I'm sure you can understand," Lyonessa says pleasantly. "I will remember you and look forward to when next we meet."

Lyonessa listens closely. Silvarn tells her she wasn't completely wrong and that is reassuring. She can see where the tales she was told changed probably by each telling, but the truth is still in there.

“It can be a great deal of fun,” Zabrina answers excitedly. “I have the desire to entertain, but alas cannot sing particularly well, so I seek to be become an actress instead. Do you have interest in the theater?”

"My talents are my voice and my instrument playing, but theater does sound enjoyable," Lyonessa says. "I might have to look into it when time allows."

“Thank you,” Anja says, tears welling up in her eyes. She’ll give each of you a big hug as she makes her goodbyes. “Thank you all. I owe you all so much. Until we meet again, be well.”

Seeing tears in Anja's eyes makes it difficult to not cry herself. Lyonessa hugs Anja back and says, "May you be well also."

"Honestly Validar, there is nothing to apologize for," Lyonessa says smiling. "You are doing a much better job than I could keeping all that straight!"

"I am certain that attendants at the castle can assist in anyone needing anything either for the celebration or the upcoming missions. I will put some of our people at your disposals."

“And I will offer my assistance to those ladies who wish it. Many of us are of similar stature and build. I am sure that there is something from my collection that will fit you and your tastes.”

"That would be wonderful," Lyonessa replies. "Thank you for such kindness."

“That seems like a wise precaution. Later in private, Argent will suggest the code phrase of “Does it go with my Tiara?” to Chareos.
Chareos chuckles at the irony of her code. “Aye, It is suitable,” he says with a playful smile. “Though you only wish that everything went with your tiara.”

The Seekers code phrase is: "A blow with a word strikes deeper than any sword."

Yusef:

Yusef listens with interest as Silvarn describes the draconic deities. It is fascinating material; he should get help in getting it recorded at some point. "Faluzure sounds quite unnatural and horrifying; I shall have to make sure that the followers of Azrella are aware of that one."
Zabrina wrote:“Not at all,” Zabrina speaks up.
The beautiful dragoness' words are comforting to an extent, but even she mentioned not wanting to jump to conclusions. Perhaps there truly are limits to enlightenment. Yusef will have to think on that further.

Neve describes their approach to dealing with the followers of Auril. It seems that Anja and Nina are in good hands. "Thank you, Neve; it is good to know that they will be in such good hands."
Anja wrote:“Thank you,” Anja says, tears welling up in her eyes. She’ll give each of you a big hug as she makes her goodbyes. “Thank you all. I owe you all so much. Until we meet again, be well.”
Yusef gathers the girl in his arms and gives Anja a hug, then squeezes her hand gently as he turns to leave. "We shall not forget you, Anja."

---
Sherra wrote:Sherra raises an eyebrow and then nods in agreement. After all, if Yusef gets seduced, she'll have to show the seducer the error of her ways. "Looks like you're stuck with me," she says leaning in to Yusef.
"Promises, promises..." is all Yusef says in reply, though there is a hint of a smile on his face.
Sherra wrote:"And what precisely makes you think I've ever been to one these?" Sherra asks with a curious gaze. "If it wasn't Validar, I would suggest we just convienently disappear, however there's no way I'm getting into a dress!"

She studies Yusef a moment and says, "You however, I think we can find something for that would make you look quite dashing."
"Ahh... I don't know..." Yusef says, looking sheepish. "You are so much more worldly than I, I-- I'm sorry if I offended you."

Yusef looks down at himself, then back up at Sherra. "Me? Dashing? Now you're having sport with me." In truth, Yusef is curious to see what she and Validar's aides can come up with that he won't look and feel absolutely ridiculous in.

The subject of passwords comes up and Yusef looks once more to Sherra. "Do you think it would be wise of us to do so as well? You seem more willing to endure my presence than most. If none else, I would wish to be sure of you at all times."

After the planning meeting ends, Yusef seeks out Ivy. "Lady Ivy, might I have a moment of your time?"

Yusef will look into replacing all (26) of his throwing spikes with ones of cold iron. I'm not sure how much he can get for his old steel ones, so just let me know what the incremental cost is. (He's actually kind of poor; all this adventuring, and he hasn't gained any money along the way! Of course, he hasn't really been looking for it...)

“Once there we will be able to liaison with our respective temples for the new Duke.”

"That is exactly what I was thinking," Acerion says to Ivy.

Ivy’s face reddens with embarrassment slightly and she’ll hug Acerion. “I’m sorry. I just assumed that since you were a nobleman… Nonetheless, I am glad that I am not the only one intimidated by this idea.”

"Nothing to apologize for my love," Acerion says as he hugs her back. "I often feel out of place in such settings despite my noble birth. All the years in the temple studying to be a paladin and then the recent years on the road has left me almost no knowledge of proper things such as court and politics. It is something I am striving to improve, but such things are still largely intimidating at times."

Ivy’s face reddens further. “Now you’re just embarrassing me. I suppose that things like this are something that I need to get used to in the future. I will be happy for any assistance I can get. These next few days are going to be challenging ones.”

"The furthest thing from my mind," Acerion says smiling. "Although that shade of red is quite striking."

"I do mean what I said however about wishing to see you in the finest attire that will show everyone how beautiful you are in my eyes," he says, looking at her with those very deep, engaging eyes of his.

All the discussion about code phrases makes Acerion think about one between him and Ivy. After some thought, he asks her, "What do you think about using this phrase: 'Not one petal of a rose shall fall needlessly' ?"

"Yes, ma'am," Yusef replies. Some nobles want proper titles, and some don't; it is all far too confusing.

"While on Silvarn's home world, we had some discussion regarding the draconic pantheon. While this may already be known by you and your priesthood, I learned something there that I wanted to make sure you knew about. Apparently, there is a draconic deity known as Faluzure, whose realms are those of decay, undeath and energy draining. Since this is so completely in opposition to Azrella's area of concern, I felt it was important to bring it up."
