Crucible #53 - "Reunion at the End of Time"

In the far flung future…

In the Saurian Time Station the heroes have taken control of the Command Center. All they need is for Lily to arrive and to mimic the form of the Station Commander.

In the Commander’s Quarters, Lily finishes studying the alien and then departs.

Back up in the Command Center Flux, Tilt, Goldstar and Rose awaits her arrival. More Saurian troops try to gain access to the area while they wait. More fighting erupts and the heroes manage to hold them off. Both Rose and Goldstar can take out large numbers of the enemies, but with the number of entrances both Flux and Tilt get involved in the fighting.

Goldstar goes to blast another Saurian as he approaches, when Rose warns her off.

“No! That’s mom! Don’t blast her!”

“That was almost tragic,” Goldstar mutters as she gestures for Lily to enter the Command Center. “Come on in, Lily!”

The Saurians continue to try to re-take the bridge, while Goldstar leads Lily to one of the consoles. She hands Lily Edgar’s Interface and walks her through the installation. It takes a few minutes, but at last the process is complete! Edgar ceases control of the station!

As soon as that happens, gas begins to flood the station.

“Don’t panic,” Goldstar advises. “The gas is specially formulated to only affect the Saurians. It’ll take the fight out of them.”

Sure enough, the gas makes the Saurians you’ve been fighting drop the deck. The station is under your control.

A few minutes later, Edgar walks into the Command Center.

“I’ve activated the Time Scanners and am attempting to find the others. This should only take a few moments. Yes, I have them. Initiating temporal-translocation.”

“Let’s go meet some old friends,” Goldstar suggests.

In the distant pass Blackout and Frostbite are seemingly lost in the prehistoric jungle. They’ve lost all sense of direction in their flight from the Saurian lab. Frostbite coats himself in ice in preparation to scout out the area. Before he can do that, but he and Blackout simply vanish.

In what would be the present, the other members of the Vigilant are fighting a group of armored Saurians. Backlash has been struck by their energy weapons several times now and is down on his knees. Aliens pile on him trying to take him down.

Tesla takes aim at the dog pile, trying to aid her teammate. As she focuses in on a target, there is a flash of light from underneath the pile. The same light plays about her and Eldritch. The world around them just vanishes.

Following Goldstar and Rose deeper into the station, Flux, Lily, and Tilt arrive at one of the time teleport chambers. As they enter there is a flash of light and five familiar forms appear. Backlash, Blackout, Eldrich, Frostbite and Tesla are teleported in.

“Welcome to the future!” Goldstar says excitedly. She’ll hug everyone, especially Frostbite. “I’ve missed you all so.”

Goldstar brings everyone up to speed on what has happened and her plan to make things normal again. (As covered in the last few posts. You did read the other sections, didn’t you? Flux, Lily and Tilt can add more if they wish.)

Edgar will also greet the new arrivals. “Welcome. It is good to see you all again. My technology has advanced considerably since we last met. I can offer to treat your various medical conditions should you so desire. For instance, I can restore Master Blackout’s site and remove the damaging cold aura from around Master Frostbite. Will you permit me to help you?”

Everyone is together again.

Now what?
Try it and find out!

I Don't Think We're in Kansas Anymore...

Finally, Lily joins the others in the control room. There is a tense moment where Goldstar nearly kills her, but Rose manages to stave off that eventuality.

"Sorry I took so long. I wanted to make sure that I could accurately mimic the commander. He was busy arguing with someone over a video commucation device, so I left him conscious. We may want to do something about that before too long."

Goldstar takes her to the control panel and Edgar talks her through taking control of the station. The process is detailed and exacting, but doesn't take overly long.
Goldstar wrote:“Don’t panic,” Goldstar advises. “The gas is specially formulated to only affect the Saurians. It’ll take the fight out of them.”

Sure enough, the gas makes the Saurians you’ve been fighting drop the deck. The station is under your control.
"Well, that should have taken care of the problem with the commander, too, then," Menagerie says. "Looks like we're in good shape here."

Soon, Edgar - or at least an Edgar - joins them. It seems he's retrieving the rest of the team. They proceed to the arrival chamber, where they watch as the missing Vigilant arrive.

Like Goldstar, Menagerie will greet the new arrivals with a hug. She wasn't sure she'd ever see them again.

"Oh, and this is my daughter Rose. As you can see, she's grown up quite a bit since we last saw her," Lily says with a proud smile.
I'm not better than you. I am you.

"awwwwww," Tilt pouts, "sillylizardboysgetsleepy."

“Let’s go meet some old friends,” Goldstar suggests.

"ok!" Tilt exclaims, wondering who they will go meet this time. Soon she sees all of her friends from the castle. She will run up to each of them and wave frantically, smiling all the while.

Raiders of the Last Station

Flux

Rose and Goldstar effectively subdue the remaining saurians in the central hub. Tilt's explosives run ends with a bang. The Saurians have lost this fight even if they don't know it yet.

And since they don't, they continue to rush for the center of operations and are subdued in their turn.

Flux first rebounds to normal size under a saurian, send that one to unconsciousness. Then he has to pause a moment to take stock of his new condition.

Hmmm, odd. I feel normally weighted, yet still dense somehow. My hands...my hands are too large, out of proportion, heavier than normal.
Not stronger though, not that. More like ..impact damage.

Flux deals with the next few reptiles to rush the entry while evaluating his new powers, noting the increased protection without mass addition.

Doesn't seem to tire me out as fast either, to hold it in this form. Overall a good fall-back general purpose power. Wonder how this relates to Sam's theory about my relation to particle properties...?

There's one bad moment when Lily walks in as a Saurian and nearly takes a Goldstar blast, but the moment passes and all things fall into place according to plan. Lily uses the Commander's codes to turn the station defenses against the reptiles and the battle is over!

"Everyone Ok? Nice work everyone. A clean opp."

A few minutes later, Edgar walks into the Command Center.

“I’ve activated the Time Scanners and am attempting to find the others. This should only take a few moments. Yes, I have them. Initiating temporal-translocation.”

“Let’s go meet some old friends,” Goldstar suggests.
Flux enters the time teleport chamber as the lost members of the Vigilant appear.

Minus one. Where is Lady Serena? Does she even exist now? What IS 'now'?

Shaking that all off, Flux prepares to field questions as they might arise...

On The Methods of Taking an Airship by Force

Post by Bruce »

Eldrich Arcane

The fight for the airship seemed to be going well until Backlash drew the ire of so many. The electric elemental seemed to be doing the best, striking down each foe with ease and ignoring any return fire. The small boy with them seemed to be unaturally calm and quiet and so attracted no attention from them at all.

If I survive this, I must find a way to improve my magics. For now, the Giant's Slap will serve to........

As Eldrich prepares his cast the room changes in a flash of light. Gone are the large armored figures and the chamber within the flying vessel. In their place stand other figures well known.
The Vigilant!

Eldrich looks for Lady Serena but does not see her. Goldstar is here however, and so is a stranger named Rose and if Goldstar is to be believed she is the daughter of Lilypak!

Eldrich listens to Goldstar, the High One, and Rose the elder trying to comprehend all that he hears, but in the end only one thing is really clear to him: time's normal flow has been altered and the anomalies that are the remaining humans must undo it at the source.

Temporal magics-the most dangerous kind. Forbidden and with good reason. Yet now I must participate in a great attempt to alter time or all of existences' potential will be lost to the predators of time's abyss.

Eldrich smiles at the sight of Tilt waving at everyone and pauses to wonder what happend to a small boy......

Frostbite

Icing up he is about to slide into the air as he is transported to another place within the blink of an eye.

He looks about the new room and see his lost companions. Pleasantries are exchanged and Frosty holds onto Goldstar a little longer. "I thought we lost you!" he pulls back and stares into her eyes.

Lily comes to hug him and he holds up his hand, "I dont think that wise... You'll get stuck to me."

"Edgar, If you would be able to do that I would be truly thankful!!! To touch things without getting stuck, You truly don't know what it its like...And believe me it isnt pretty!!!"

He will say hello to the others, Tilt, Tesla,Flux etc. Though he looks to the others and says, "You will never guess where we were! To see actual dinosaurs.... though yeah when that dino tries to eat us that kinda woke us up!!"

Backlash

With the combined weight of the aliens on him Backlash begins to raise to hunches but a weightlessness soon finds its way to his shoulders and a blinding light….

With the weight gone and he still in motion Backlash urges his body up, his eyes fall on a few familiar forms. For several moments he wonders if he is hallucinating as he begins to stretch in a sudden yawn.

“Welcome to the future!” Goldstar says excitedly. She’ll hug everyone, especially Frostbite. “I’ve missed you all so.”

“Huh? Where did you guys come from?” looking around he tries to spot his advisories hiding in some shadow, “Where did all the aliens go? And when did you get here?!!”

He quickly forgets what has happened and barrels into a tirade of explaination! “ The city is under attack! Their killing off everything and anyone!!! His ranting is soon cooled as the others seem calm and greet them. Perhaps the danger is over as they give him a hug and tilt merely waves.

Looking around he says, “Where is Storm Child?”
Take your best shot!

an interesting offer...

For a brief second, Blackout fears they have been captured. The overwhelming sounds and distractions of the jungle vanish, or rather they do. However, it soon becomes clear they were rescued.
“Welcome to the future!” Goldstar says excitedly. She’ll hug everyone, especially Frostbite. “I’ve missed you all so.”

He looks about the new room and see his lost companions. Pleasantries are exchanged and Frosty holds onto Goldstar a little longer. "I thought we lost you!" he pulls back and stares into her eyes.
"Yes, we were both concerned for you," Blackout adds. "It's good to have you back. Everyone actually..." Blackout realizes now that everyone is back, minus Serena. As an explaination is given, he realizes they are way in the future.
Blackout thinks long and hard on this offer. Restoring his sight was not anything he ever believed could be done. Such a seemingly-easy decision becomes a difficult debate in his mind. "What would happen to my other senses and my compensating for not having sight for so long Edgar? Honestly I hardly even notice anymore, and while it would be fantastic to see again, I would hate to lose my remaining heightened senses even more."

Even if Edgar assures him everything will remain the same, Blackout will not immediately jump at the offer. He still has some considering to do.

Tesla:

Tesla takes aim at the dog pile, trying to aid her teammate. As she focuses in on a target, there is a flash of light from underneath the pile. The same light plays about her and Eldritch. The world around them just vanishes.

Tesla lines up her shot, preparing to unleash another electrical blast when suddenly everything vanishes. Upon re-appearing, it seems like they were teleported to another part of the ship. However it turns out it's not the same ship. It's not even the same century...

“Welcome to the future!” Goldstar says excitedly. She’ll hug everyone, especially Frostbite. “I’ve missed you all so.”

Goldstar brings everyone up to speed on what has happened and her plan to make things normal again.

Like Goldstar, Menagerie will greet the new arrivals with a hug. She wasn't sure she'd ever see them again.

"Oh, and this is my daughter Rose. As you can see, she's grown up quite a bit since we last saw her," Lily says with a proud smile.

Tesla drops her force field once she sees there is no more danger. She listens closely after re-uniting with everyone else. It seems that each group had a very bizarre series of events happen to them. Tesla can't help but think theirs was pretty "normal" given the other stories that are shared.

Post Continued:

Having been separated, literally, but billions of years, the Vigilant have been reunited thanks to the Saurian Temporal Technology. Backlash, Tesla, and Eldrich have been transported in from what would be considered the present, while Blackout and Frostbite were taken from the prehistoric past.

Goldstar is at long last reunited with her friends after billions of years, from her point of view anyway. You can tell that this Goldstar isn’t as ‘loopy’ as the one you’re familiar with.
Frostbite wrote:He looks about the new room and see his lost companions. Pleasantries are exchanged and Frosty holds onto Goldstar a little longer. "I thought we lost you!" he pulls back and stares into her eyes.
Goldstar is immune to Frostbite’s chilly touch and so she thinks nothing of hugging him in his ice form.

“Depends on our perspective, Frosty. It’s only been a few hours for you and Blackout, but over 3 billion years from mine. It’s been a very long time.”
Blackout wrote:"Yes, we were both concerned for you," Blackout adds. "It's good to have you back. Everyone actually..." Blackout realizes now that everyone is back, minus Serena. As an explanation is given, he realizes they are way in the future.
“Ah, that’s good to know Blackout. I tried to make it back to you guys, but by then so much time had passed… Well, you were both probably dead by then one way or another.”

On those missing, both Edgar and Goldstar have no idea who Storm Child is/was. They never met him. As for Serena, Edgar will say, “I have been unable to locate her with the temporal scanners. Her fate is unknown.”

In a more relaxing setting back inside Edgar, Goldstar and Rose explain what is going on and how it can be prevented. In short, you’re going to be sent back a few days before the White Event with the idea of preventing it from happening. If you succeed, then the Saurians would have never gained sentience and the whole sequence of events that led to humanity never existing would have been nullified.

“You’ll be beamed back inside your bodies at that point in history, but you will regain your memories and powers from the future,” Goldstar explains. “Either stop Devilspawn from casting her spell inside Horton’s Plaza, or prevent the saucer from opening that rift outside. Stop either one and you’ll have accomplished your mission and reality as we know it will be restored.”

“Rose and I cannot go with you, as our presence would be detected by the Saurians. You however should be able to go unnoticed. Just be careful as they may realize what we are trying to do and try to stop you.”

Edgar brings up the notion of using his super medical technology to alleviate some of the problems the group has. He brings up removing the nasty cold aura around Frostbite.
Frostbite wrote:"Edgar, if you would be able to do that I would be truly thankful!!! To touch things without getting stuck, you truly don't know what it its like...And believe me it isn’t pretty!!!"
“I can begin the process at any time. It shouldn’t take long.”

Edgar offers to restore Blackout’s sight.
Blackout wrote:Blackout thinks long and hard on this offer. Restoring his sight was not anything he ever believed could be done. Such a seemingly easy decision becomes a difficult debate in his mind. "What would happen to my other senses and my compensating for not having sight for so long Edgar? Honestly I hardly even notice anymore, and while it would be fantastic to see again, I would hate to lose my remaining heightened senses even more."
“I don’t see why it would alter your existing senses at all, Master Blackout. The only difficulty might arise from trying to use both at the same time, but with practice that may not be an issue. The choice is yours, sir.”

"I know what you mean, Blackout." She explains the story of how Flux, Tilt and herself ended up here. "I didn't know if we would ever see any of you again. Or anyone else human, for that matter. Until Goldstar and Rose appeared, there didn't appear to be any humans left anywhere."
Edgar wrote:On those missing, both Edgar and Goldstar have no idea who Storm Child is/was. They never met him. As for Serena, Edgar will say, “I have been unable to locate her with the temporal scanners. Her fate is unknown.”
"That's strange, Edgar. Any idea why that might be so?"

Having already heard the plan once, Lily listens quietly as Goldstar brings the newly-arrived Vigilant up to speed. It still saddens her that Goldstar and Rose cannot come along, but they should still be there as they were before all this happened.

"Flux? Since we have two targets, which are essentially simultaneous as regards when they happen, does it make sense to split up into two teams?"

Flux

"Split into two teams? I have more in mind than that. Since we will be coming in with prior knowledge of future events we should contact the various groups in and around San Diego and give them advance warnings. The Steel Squadron, the Protecters, PRIMUS, ect. all deserve fair warning. We should also agree to a meeting place for ourselves beforehand to see each other and discuss how best to approach the others. I would like some high powered help with the magic end of things for certain, since I understand that aspect least of all."

Flux stands at ease, in the military manner but his demenor is less calm.

"Understand this: we will not have Edgar, Goldstar, or Lady Serena with us this time especially if we succeed at all or part of this operation. History will be changed and they will not come into the world. And even if we DO manage to stop both events the temporal energy incursion is still scheduled to occur no matter what we do, and that's the one that affected history the most. I would still like to know the source of that but even Edgar can't tell us anything new about it. But maybe with advance warning we can get some kind of lead on it with the help of the established hero groups in the area. That White energy is what both groups sought to use for their own purposes and it makes my very uneasy to know nothing about it. Starguard has advanced scanning capabilities which could be put to use tracking the saucer. The other groups have ,er, mages?--to help with the magic vector. Steel Squadron has solid firepower. We need all that on our side. It's that or try to head off the two groups BEFORE they arrive at Horton Plaza and that will take intel too. Either way it's a lot of work in a short space of time. I want as many eyes as possible open and as many ears placed to the ground as we can get."

Flux draws in a breath and lets it out again slowly. This is the longest speech he has ever given his new friends and he's hoping it won't put them off.

"Failing to alert the other groups is a possibility we should prepare for too. Remember we are unknowns at the time prior to the Event and they may not listen to us or take us seriously. Our approach to them must be done with care. If we cannot get them to hear us then it's down to just us. We can make plans regarding that if it comes to pass."

Flux looks around the chamber to see how they are all taking it.

I know it's a lot to drop on you all but better to think on it now than after it's too late. Any questions or suggestions are most welcome."

Goldstar:

Goldstar listens to Flux’s speech and is in agreement for the most part.

“You’ve got the basic idea, Flux, but it might not be as complicated as you think. It was the convergence of three separate forms of energy being channeled simultaneously that caused the White Event. Remove any of those from the equation and things will turn out differently. Since we know the details of two of them, those are the logical targets.”

“For instance, the demons arrived at Horton’s Plaza and took hostages some ten to fifteen minutes before the White Event. You could just trigger a fire alarm fifteen minutes before that. Clear the mall of people and when the demons arrive, they have no one to take hostage to make their sacrifice. Their part in the White Event has been effectively neutralized.”

“Likewise, with the saucer, damage it or more importantly damage the pulse laser that caused the tear in reality and they’ll be stopped.”

“It is not totally necessary to defeat these people in combat. Simply stop them from acting when they did. Slow them down and the White Event never happens. That is the ultimate goal of your mission.”

“You may contact others if you wish, but the more changes you make leading up the White Event, the better the chance that the Saurians will catch on and try to stop you.”

Lily listens as Flux and Goldstar discuss the strategy for when they get back to their own time. Flux wants to bring all of the regions metahumans in on this, overwhelm the opposition. Goldstar is concerned that this will bring too much attention to what they are doing and give the saurians time to concoct a different strategy.

"I think Goldy has a point, Flux. The logistics of getting all that organized in the short time we'll have would be a Herculean task. I'm not sure we could pull it off. We may want to try for more of... what does the military call it?... a surgical strike. Or, in this case, two of them."

She looks around at the others for comments before continuing. "It seems like the saucer might require the heavier hitters in the group. The sacrifice might do better with stealth and misdirection..."

"This may seem trivial, but one other thing bothers me. Since we will be returning to a time before some of us had powers, but will suddenly have them, how do we explain that? I'll have to explain it, not only to Rose, but to a number of other people who know me well. Trying to describe all this time-jumping is likely to be more than they can follow."

Planning for Future's Past

Post by Bruce »

Flux

Stopping one event prevents the White Event? So much for my grasp of science.

Flux notes his error wryly and also notes Goldstar has sidestepped the issue of her non-existence in the past.

Goldstar has a good point about drawing unwanted Saurian attention.

"Yes, Goldstar, I see what you mean. Just because we make it back to the past, our present, doesn't mean the enemy won't still have watchers there. So contacting all the local forces is probably out. I would like to heads up the Steel Squadron because they are going to be there anyway and they took the worst losses. But that's a personal preference, I won't push it."

Flux turns to Lily and nods his appreciation.

"Your point about logistics is a good one Menagerie as it applies to the untrained or unready. The people I saw after the disaster appeared quite capable of handeling themselves but you may be right about time constraints. In any case it would draw unwanted attention so we'll leave it be."

"On that personal note Miss-er Lily if I may comment. Don't. Don't tell people about your abilities. Tell your daughter if you feel you must, but no one else. It puts a risk on you and your friends if you spread that info around. With your ability to change your appearence it should be easy to conceal. Explaining time jumping will just get you wrapped in a white jacket and carted off. I know keeping it quiet presents it's own set of problems but the alternative...?"

Flux shrugs and lets the question trail off.

Miss Pak will have to think it through and decide. She seems very intelligent, with a quick mind. I'm sure she'll make the right decision.

Flux starts talking. A lot. Tilt follows as much as she can, but then it all becomes boring. Then Goldstar starts, but she says something that catches her attention.

"oh!oh!oh!" Tilt exclaims, "icandothatrealwell! pullfirealarms... um..." Realising she just exposed one of her "secrets" she looks mildly embarassed. After all, it was just a prank. Those silly fire men never knew how all those alarms seemingly went off at once that one boring summer.

“Who says we have to?” You really think our loved ones or anyone will understand or believe us? And considering we do have better control over our powers it shouldn’t be to hard to keep them hidden. My worry is how to get away from anyone who is around when we are needed.” he states evenly.

If we are to be in the same places as we were 3 days ago, Would it not be wiser to go after the demon crew? I mean Many of us met there and have first hand knowledge of the area. Who was taken and who wasn’t If we can get inside Devilspawn’s force field We could end it far faster then trying to get to a defended saucer.”

Backlash

As he listens to the discussion his he feels a dull pain his head from the arrival of a huge headache, as we figure out which is best course of action to take.

“Not to sound to naïve, but If we are gonna do this Where are we going to meet up before the appointed time?” he asks curiously.
She looks around at the others for comments before continuing. "It seems like the saucer might require the heavier hitters in the group. The sacrifice might do better with stealth and misdirection..."
“That leaves me out.” he says with a laugh. “Never was one to be quiet about anything.”

Backlash will go to whichever Flux deems his skills/powers will most benefit.

I Don't Think We're in Kansas Anymore...

Explaining time jumping will just get you wrapped in a white jacket and carted off. I know keeping it quiet presents it's own set of problems but the alternative...?"

It seems she was not very clear, Lily realizes with an inward sigh. "I don't intend to tell many people, obviously. However, I believe my daughter needs to know. Also, it may be unavoidable to tell something to those who know me best. It is very difficult to suddenly start missing work a lot and otherwise drastically changing your habit and not have it be noticed by those close to you."

"My only real concern with that strategy is that we would be putting all of our eggs in one basket," Lily says. "There is always the possibility of something going wrong. Going after multiple objectives gives more opportunities for success."
Backlash wrote:“Not to sound to naïve, but If we are gonna do this Where are we going to meet up before the appointed time?” he asks curiously.
A good question. Lily would be likely to choose someplace near Horton Plaza, since both events are in that area. She turns to Flux to hear what he has to say on the matter.
Backlash wrote:“That leaves me out.” he says with a laugh. “Never was one to be quiet about anything.”
Lily smiles in response to Backlash's humor.

a tough decision..

“I don’t see why it would alter your existing senses at all, Master Blackout. The only difficulty might arise from trying to use both at the same time, but with practice that may not be an issue. The choice is yours, sir.”
"That makes things a bit easier then," Blackout says finally. "I can't take the chance that I won't be able to adapt my abilities to suddenly having my sight back when we have to stop this event from happening. We don't have time to wait for me to train up enough"

"I appreciate the offer and it's good to know that the advances will happen in time eventually," Blackout continues. "Maybe they will be available when I'm ready to retire the costume. I understand it may not be you that can offer this again Edgar, depending on how changing the past affects our encountering you, but someone else in the scientific community will undoubtably figure out a procedure. It is something to look forward to, even just an uncertain possibility is better than nothing."

Blackout figures he will probably be chosen for the more stealthy mission considering he doubts he can damage a spacecraft. Still, he awaits Flux's decision.

“That leaves me out.” he says with a laugh. “Never was one to be quiet about anything.”

"Well that's good to know," Tesla replies to Backlash with a smile, "for more than just one reason."

"Taking down a flying saucer is probably something more suited for me as well," Tesla says. "So far we haven't found much that can stand up to sustained electrical attacks, past, present or future."

"I'm just not sure why it will be that big of a deal, at least initially," Tesla says, confused. "We're only talking a couple days before the event, for better or worse. Plus you can hide your powers easily, unlike some of us." Tesla says the last while pointing to the electrical glow coming from her eyes, and she has no powers active currently.

"I'm not sure how you told you daughter and the others right after the incident, but as far as missing work, just call out," Tesla suggests. "I can't imagine as a parent you haven't had to call out before, for yourself or your daughter. I think you're making more out of this then it needs to be. If we were going back two or three months before the event, then I could understand."

Plans of Future's Past

Flux

"The disposition of forces will be discussed shortly.
I know more about the sacrificial end because I was there when it started and I can tell you now that field was both tough and impenetrable to me. As in I couldn't break it or pass through it. There were others there that helped but, for some reason, I can't remember anything about them now. I just have vague memories of others being there.'

Flux pauses there, head slightly inclined, but no further memory seem to be forthcoming.

"In any case, the bulk of our forces should be there because the greatest number of people died there first and the most number of hostile targets were there too. The Monster was one such, as was the Leach. The others were not known to me then but they were very tough all by themselves. That said, I do want that saucer handled so at least Tesla and Backlash and probably Tilt will be on that. Best thing to do would be to stop it from even landing if possible."

"The rest of us should be ready unobtrusivley inside the shopping area. Calling in a fire or pulling alarms is good as long as we intercept any police, security, or firefighters before they can get involved. Remember, we will see PRIMUS there somewhere, as they did respond to the saucer alert and Steel Squadron arrived at the summoning site. We just have to be faster then last time-cut it all off before it gets to disaster level."

" Edgar can you bring up a map of the area as it was then? We'll have to pick a place to meet beforehand and scout out the two places, get familiarized with them, and all with out any attention drawn. That means no costumes or power displays."

And yes it means they will all see my face. A very small price to pay in exchange for what we gain.

You know what this means, right MAD? It means I have to re-read the beginning of this all over again!

The brainstorming continues...
Lily wrote:"That's strange, Edgar. Any idea why that might be so?"
"None that I am aware of, unless this temporal incident somehow prevented her from coming into being. That is always a possibility."

Flux wrote:"Yes, Goldstar, I see what you mean. Just because we make it back to the past, our present doesn't mean the enemy won't still have watchers there. So contacting all the local forces is probably out. I would like to heads up the Steel Squadron because they are going to be there anyway and they took the worst losses. But that's a personal preference, I won't push it."
"I guarantee you that they are watching," Goldstar states. "They know that this point in history is key to their existence. They will fight as hard to keep it from changing, as we will to make it right. That's one of the purposes of Time Stations such as this. The more changes you make, the more noticeable you'll be come. Getting together before hand to scout out areas probably won't be noticed, but make full scale changes such as alerting the local authorities before hand probably will."

"Our target arrival date for all of you will be the morning of July 4th, the day before the White Event. Since it's a holiday, you shouldn't have many private life issues to deal with. That'll give you time to get things organized better."
Frostbite wrote:"If we are to be in the same places as we were 3 days ago, would it not be wiser to go after the demon crew? I mean many of us met there and have first hand knowledge of the area. Who was taken and who wasn't if we can get inside Devilspawn's force field we could end it far faster then trying to get to a defended saucer."
"It would be far simpler to never let it come to that point, Frosty," Goldstar answers. "The demons need sacrifices to carry off their part of the plan. If no one is around when they arrive, then they fail. Or even take out Devilspawn before she can begin casting the spell."

"Do not forget that the White Event that caused all of this was the convergence of three energy sources unleashed all at the same time. It's much like a tripod. Remove any one leg and the whole will fall. Therefore anything that stops, slows down or otherwise delays these energies by even a few seconds will change things. If Devilspawn's force field is impenetrable, then do not let things escalate to the point that she creates it. Stop them sooner."
Flux wrote:"Edgar can you bring up a map of the area as it was then? We'll have to pick a place to meet beforehand and scout out the two places, get familiarized with them, and all with out any attention drawn. That means no costumes or power displays."
Edgar will comply. The area is shopping district, so there are plenty of places to gather before hand.

During a break, Edgar will treat Frostbite. Frosty is put under for the procedure and when he awakes half an hour later, it's all done!

Frosty doesn't feel any different, but those around him will notice a change. It's not so numbly cold in the area around him, and he feels like an ice cube to the touch. Unprotected flesh no longer sticks to him.

GM Notes:

Ready to go back to the past? Given that this is time travel, you can take as much time as you like making your plans. Take a week, a month, even a year. Regardless of how long it takes, you're still going to arrive back on the day before the White Event.

Now what?
Try it and find out!

Lily sighs. She's really not doing a good job of communicating her question, as people keep answering different questions than the one she's asking. "It's not an issue of when it occurs, it's one of why. Originally, many of us got our powers from the White Event, something that everyone knew about and was aware that it had given many people superhuman abilities. However, in this case, if we succeed, there will be no White Event to explain the sudden gaining of powers. It will simply be a case of one day not having them, and then the next day - poof - having them. That may doesn't really fit the pattern that people are used to and may be difficult for them to accept. I suspect that any of you that got your abilities from the White Event will encounter the same dilemna eventually." At this point, Lily is reaching the point of just giving up on the issue entirely and dealing with it on her own later.
Edgar wrote:"None that I am aware of, unless this temporal incident somehow prevented her from coming into being. That is always a possibility."

"I seem to recall that she came from some kind of pod attached to the outside of the saucer. Thus, she wouldn't have been there previously."

Menagerie nods. "I was there as well and saw much of what happened. In fact, I was one of those inside the summoning circle when the energy wave hit. I only survived because it destroyed the summoning."

Flux continues to lay out the strategy for handling the situation. Tesla, Backlash and Tilt-A-Whirl are assigned to the saucer. The rest are to slip into the Plaza incognito and try to disrupt the summoning before it gets started. They will all meet beforehand to prepare.

"I should be able to meet you there without any problem; I was there shopping the first time, so I can do so again. Since Rose has a birthday party to attend that day, I should be free anyway. If I need to have someone take her so that I can come earlier, I'm sure my folks can handle that."
Goldstar wrote:"Our target arrival date for all of you will be the morning of July 4th, the day before the White Event. Since it's a holiday, you shouldn't have many private life issues to deal with. That'll give you time to get things organized better."
"Uhm, actually, my family always celebrates the 4th of July together starting in mid-afternoon and lasting well into the evening. I'm likely to be pretty busy the latter part of that day, but I can arrange to keep in contact via my cell phone. I can trade numbers with any of the rest of you."
Frostbite wrote:Waking up he shakes his head as the grogginess dissipates but he doesn’t feel any different. “Hey Edgar, you sure it worked? I don’t feel any difference then before.”
Lily carefully moves closer to Frostbite, testing for the cold sensations she had previously experienced near him. She gets closer than she has in the past, and still doesn't sense the coldness. "As far as I can tell, Frostbite, you're not giving off the cold like you did before..."

Tesla just looks at Lily for a moment, then says, "I understand that this event caused some of you to get your powers. However, what you still are making a big deal over I don't think you're seeing the picture clearly. Yes, I'm sure your daughter and maybe a few close people will know you have powers eventually, but it sounds to me like you're expecting to go around and broadcast it on the major news stations. Who cares how or why? Are you going to be using your powers sitting at your desk at work changing into different people? If not, then no one is going to know. It's called a secret identity. That's why I thought you adopted the name Menagerie instead of just using Lily. If you're going to be public about it, then there is no need for another name."

"Some of us don't have the luxury of hiding our identity," Tesla continues. "However, I'm not doing the same thing I used to be doing. Most everyone else in the world doesn't know my real name and I don't go around telling anybody anything except Tesla. Too many innocent people could be hurt if I sat down for an interview and said, hi my name is... and here are my family and friends. Villains please come hurt them."

"I understand that for several of you, your powers are still new and adjusting is going to take time," Tesla says. "My advice would be to tell as few people as possible, preferably none, about your powers and keep your super identity a secret. When this is all over, we may not all be professional super heroes and instead lead pretty much normal lives. I think that's up to everyone to decide what they want. Spilling your secret though is a recipe for disaster."

Tesla looks at Lily a bit longer then shrugs slightly and prepares for their going back in time. She debated saying more but it's obvious Lily is frustrated and decided to drop it. The question was definitely not offensive, but Tesla just couldn't understand why a person with powers that could be completely hidden was so anxious to run off and tell everyone about them and be concerned about explaining how she got them. Again, unless Lily was planning on being a public hero where everyone knew her identity and where she lived. Her choice I guess, Telsa thinks to herself and then concentrates on the upcoming battle.

“Ah yes, A 4th of July picnic always a fun get together. I mean I can see how important it can be compared to saving the world as we know it. But you go ahead Enjoy yourself, It maybe the last one we ever see.” his tone is even. “Seems our priorities are misplaced, Perhaps we should all have a BBQ instead, Heck we could even send the aliens an invite to attend.” he adds with a bit of sarcasm.

Looking to Flux and the others, “Is there anything else you guys can tell me about this saucer? I really don’t like the idea of going in blind like this when the prize is so High so to speak.”
