Q Files Update: April 6th

Post by Spectrum »

It's another round of Q files!

After some rough spots, things are finally starting to come together in Crusaders. With Firestar injuried during the battle with Mechanon and with Lightwarp missing, Imperial makes his bid to control the group triggering a Crusaders Civil war! All this plus the first appearance of the Tigress in Crusaders #32-34.

In the distant future, the sister's 'god' is finally revealed in Lost Heroes #16-17. The Troubleshooters begin to get organized in Troubleshooters #3-4.

In Frontier #48 we have the conclusion of the battle with Woodstalker! Then in Frontier #49 we have the aftermath of the clash.

The Zombie Master is finally revealed in Sword of Doom #20-22!

Enjoy!

Thanks, MAD. Appreciate the files as often as possible. Great read and isn't it ironic how Cereld and Validar came to terms together. Ditto for Finrod. Too bad we can't get those guys back for our game (Bernie too).

As much as I've always been a fan of superhero games, I find myself reading the fantasy Q files first. Gotta say that I'm having trouble connecting with the Troubleshooters game, and am kinda so-so on the Lost Heros. Nice to see Tigress show up! Hopefully she'll be around long enough for us to get a feel for how she compares with the current.

I usually have the fantasy files ready first too... Right now, they simply are better than the Champs ones.

Troubleshooters is a strange little game as I've noted in my commentary. The fact that I didn't even have a player in the game is telling. I think I've always had at least 1 character in anything I did on Q, outside of the 2 live games I did where it was logicistically impossible. This one is even new to me as I probably hadn't even looked at it in at least twelve years!

Likewise, Lost Heroes was a bit out there as well. Fortunately, we're about a third of the way through that one. It does end up tying into the regular Champs game. In fact, Beth ends up as a sometimes PC in the West Coast portion of the game and another character who has yet to appear ends up as member of the Crusaders.

Unfortunately, Tigress really didn't hang around for a long time. I'll let Panther cover that explanation since it was his character. She appeared in the current ongoing Crusaders for a while and then left.

Panther didn't do anything with the Champions games for a long time after that. Then while I was running the YC game live, he did a few guest shots. He potrayed Jack O'Lantern and Ankylosaur for me, I believe. Later in YC he did another guest shot as Tigress, that in turn led her going back into the Crusaders for awhile. (Off the top of my head, that was around Crusaders #145 or so). Again, she was around for a while, including the first of the infamous game wide crossovers that involved Nightstalker & the Enchantress' wedding!

Next, we did a little bit of Tigress via E-mail on AOL. (We were both on AOL before I left Q and the network shut down.) I ties into events both in LA Knights & Young Champs near the end of the games. And that was pretty much it for Tigress until the current website.

Its tax day here in the states, so here's a Q Files update to easy the pain in the pocket book!

In Crusaders #35-37 we have the conclusion of Imperials takeover bid and the resolution of the Nightingale being controlled by the headband storyline.

In Lost Heroes #18-19, Brawn, Val, & Number 6 reach the shrine and take on Spinadira!

And in Troubleshooters #5-6, the team begins its first mission.

The Seekers depart the ruined city in Frontier #50-53 and are not happy with what they find once back near Gateway in Frontier #54-55.

Finally, the Company of the Sword battles the dreaded Zombie Master in Sword of Doom #23-25!

Enjoy!

Thanks for the update, MAD. Always happy to get another Frontier and then can't wait for the next one. Talk about mixed feelings!

Hopefully will get a file or two back to you this week...

Ok, it looks like the Crusaders have two problems: An enhanced Imperial with Viper connections and a way to convert people to his veiwpoint. (Mind Control via drugs?) And a headband of Chuthulu radio receiver. Where did that come from? Is that the source of trouble in the underground lab? ( How else to explain trained lab techs making such errors?) Lost Heros still seems like a shared delusion to me. Either that or multiple realities/times all located on the Earth. Well, I expect it will all clear up...eventually. I'm having trouble with Troubleshooters too. Can't quite get a connection to the characters-but I do find "QC" very amusing! Seriously enjoying Frontiers posts. The players have gotten past the 2nd guessing stage and right up to good teamwork/planning/roleplaying. (See if you can find Bernice!!) Looking forward to the hit and run tactics about to be used. Got the Zombie Master? Seemed too easy. Maybe...a stunt double? Keep 'em comin' I'm still a readin'.

Hey, Bruce!

Impy also had Mind Control as well. I never really did fully explain just how he pulled all this off. Probably had help and perhaps outside controls such as drugs. A tussle with Impy & his gang became an almost yearly event. His next appearance was in the late 50's of Crusaders.

The headband that Nightingale had does have something of a story to it. For those who have the modual "Wraith of the Seven Horsemen" probably realized where all that was going. The headpiece does appear again, along with the resolution of the above modual. Its also similair to the headband that Lady Darkness currently wears. But LD is more disposed to act that way then 'Gale was so it's not as noticable!

The headpiece didn't really figure much into the "What Rough Beast" mini-modual. It just seemed like a good way to get the thing into the game. It only works for those who already have psionic powers, so the Genocide scientsists probably couldn't get it to work for them.

Let's just say that Lost Heroes is somebodies delusion... and no, not mine!

Troubleshooters wasn't my best effort to be sure. Kill is an outstanding player, no matter what he was running. I have the sneaking feeling that his QC initials stood for Quite Clumsy....

The D&D games were quite good. About a year ahead of the Champs material and it shows. Lots of good players and characters there.

Actually, it was a Zombie Double-- now does that seem appropriate or not?-- that was whacked up by the heroes. ZM does return and has connections to the Seekers as well. ZM remained at large and could potentially return to trouble the folks in the Validar offshot game....

Ironically, if you go back to the Mission Board posted in Frontier #5-6, defeating the ZM is there along with my comments that the award has probably gone up since then...

Update: April 22nd

Post by Spectrum »

Just finished posting another Q files Update! Here's a run down of the new stuff:

Crusaders #38-39 kicks off the 17 part Target: Hero storyline. Look for the Q debut of Daigon!

Lost Heroes #20-22 goes a long way in explaining what is actually going on in this game.

Troubleshooters #7-8 has the team at the ski lodge and on the trail of the aliens!

Its the usual double dip of Frontier action. Frontier #56-59 has the Seekers attacking the invading army, while Frontier #60-61 has them resting after the initial battle.

In Sword of Doom #26-27, the Company searches the Zombie Master's catacombs.

Enjoy!

Lost Royals

Looks like it's bad luck to take a hero name based on royalty. Imperial and Monarch-both gone.

Q Files Update: April 28th

Post by Spectrum »

We close out April with another Q Files update!

Crusaders #40-42 wraps up the first part (of three parts) of the Target: Hero module. The Sorceress is missing! Can she be found?

Things long forgotten come back to haunt the displaced paranormals in Lost Heroes #23-26.

The team contends with alien probes in Troubleshooters #9-11.

The Seekers deal with the ambush in Frontier #62-63 & and plan their next course of action in Frontier #64-65.

The Company of the Sword splits up to cover several different tasks in Sword of Doom #28-29.

Enjoy!

Thanks, MAD. Always great to see new updates.

On the file front, I only have one more file in my possession: the next Spectrum file. So it may be edited and posted this week and it may not. Hopefully it will and then my plate will be clean again, which is always nice.

:) Yes, these Q files are getting better. I'm really starting to enjoy Sword of Doom and Frontier. ( Blod punching Goblins!! ) Great fight in Crusaders....and I'd be nervous too if Dark Saraph showed up. Seven people still in suspension tubes...? Are they dreaming the whole thing? Hanging on every word in Lost Heros to see the answer.

Thanks Bruce!

Glad you're liking our old stuff. That means you should really enjoy the newer, improved games upcoming.

I love the D&D games too.

Not too much longer before the LH answers arrive. Keep your eyes peeled.

Glad you liked the Q Files, Bruce. Finally the Champs games are getting to the point where the Frontier started and the quality is getting better. I was making the transistion from telling stories to writing game posts. (Of course, from my perspective I've converted up to Crusaders #56, while you're back at #42, so my point of view is a bit furhter along.) Even scarier, there is SO much more to come!

Considering Blod couldn't hold onto a sword to save his life, just punching the enemy seemed prudent!

I can reveal this about Lost Heroes. The people in the suspension tubes-- there are only six of them, if it said seven it was a typo-- are not an essential plot point. They were six individuals left behind to awaken one thousand years later to try and reclaim the Earth after the radiation had faded. However, they DO finally get thawed out before the series ends.

The big secret behind LH will be revealed in the 2nd to last post in the series. (Issues #54-56) But there will be more hints along the way. The situation was not resolved when the game ended, but was completed later on in Young Champions.
