New Frontiers #39
Lyonessa:
While that is going on, talk of the paralyzed Kieran reaches her ears.
"Yes, I had nearly forgotten about him. Stand back and I'll Dispel the magic affecting him. But remember he was being controlled by Vryxnr before and still may be."
Jallarzi will cast her second Dispel Magic on Kieran.
Lyonessa is very grateful that there indeed was someone who could help Kieran. Once it is obvious that he has been freed she will approach Jallarzi. "Thank you Jallarzi," she will say.
It seems that there is no need for her spells at the moment, Lyonessa will instead approach Kieran. "Are you alright?" she will ask in a tender voice. "I'm sorry that happened to you. We freed you as soon as we could."

My voice, my will, my magic - three blessings bestowed by Mystra that spell your doom
Elspeth
Elspeth:
With the excitement winding down and those in need of healing being tended to, Elspeth turns her attention back to her reason for being here. The foul looking shrine stands before her as if waiting.
In the background, Ivy lays waste to the last few remaining undead. She always was single-minded when it came to destroying such monsters. Once she has finished with her task, Elspeth will call out, "I will be needing your assistance, Ivy. The task that lies ahead is a great one and I will need your goodness and strength to succeed. I will need your strength as well, Lord Acerion."
Once the way is clear and others have gone forth to inspect the shrine, Elspeth will step inside. The interior of the Shrine is nothing to speak off. There are many in the slums of Elcadan who live in better conditions than this.
Gathering herself, Elspeth will approach the strange black liquid and stare at it for a few moments. Then, unexpectedly, she turns back to those watching her.
"This will not be an easy task. The black liquid has a strange magical life of its own and will not simply be defeated by mundane means. It will resist and I will need the strength of others to aid me. Given their innate goodness, Ivy and Lord Acerion will be a tremendous help. Likewise, the two other priests can help as well as can anyone who is good of heart. Once I cast the spell, I will join hands with Ivy and Lord Acerion and channel their purity against this vile foe. Those who wish to help just need to make contact with any of us. Let the cleansing begin."
Turning back, Elspeth will wait for Ivy and Lord Acerion to join her. Once they are there, she will cast her spell and then take their hands. Elspeth will close her eyes and steel herself for the task to come.

"I am as ready as I can be, Lord Validar.""Elspeth should do her actions now and be done with this vile liquid. Then we will dismantle this foul place, stone by stone if need be. A few of our number should be prepared both inside and out to be ready for any unforeseen surprises."

How can I help?
Sherwood
Sherwood:
Trusting Lifeshield to protect him, Sherwood enters the Shrine and quickly explores. The place seems have been used as quarters and is for the most part empty. After making certain, he goes back to the entrance and waves for the others to join him.
When Elspeth enters, Sherwood will follow her towards the pool of black liquid. Hard to believe that the source of all our troubles is something so innocuous. As the Priestess speaks, Sherwood will sheath Lifeshield. When the time comes, he'll join the circle with Elspeth, Ivy, and Acerion without hesitation.

"Most likely", Sherwood will agree. "It would explain how they did that given how few spellcasters they had.""Potions of invisibility?" Sherra asks to no one in particular when she spots the broken and empty bottles and vials.

Jallarzi
Jallarzi:
Jallarzi follows Elspeth into the shrine and keeps near her. Seeing that there are no threats in the immediate area, she'll dismiss her giant guardian hand. She'll also lend her strength to Elspeth in the attempt to defeat the black water.
"Always a pleasure to assist a fellow Mystrian", Jallarzi will say with her trademark smile. "I am pleased I was able to free him from Vryxnr's control."Lyonessa is very grateful that there indeed was someone who could help Kieran. Once it is obvious that he has been freed she will approach Jallarzi. "Thank you Jallarzi," she will say.
Another smile will come to Lady Sallavarian's face when she sees Kylie's genuine concern. "Don't worry, Kylie. He should be fine. Lifeshield can protect him from most magic.""Sherwood, no!" she shouts in alarm, but it is too late. Kylie can only wait in stupefied horror for her uncle Sherwood to emerge. After some time, he does, and Kylie breathes easier. Thank Tymora! She was certainly with him today.

Edwina! Stop that!
Ivy
Ivy:
But she hears Elspeth's voice calling out to her.
Tucking her mace into her belt, Ivy turns and joins Elspeth. Once inside the shrine, Ivy will stand beside Elspeth, ready to give her friend all the support that she needs to carry out this great task.
Ivy lets out a loud battle cry as she whacks another zombie back into real death. She is quite pleased to have received some assistance in this endeavor. Looking around she spots more zombies except that they are out in the swamp waters. Considering that she's already been in the swamp waters, another trip in there isn't completely out of the question. The only real excitement comes when Ivy goes after those few zombies who are still on solid ground. Her mace dispatches another one, while Lord Corley slices one in half with his greatsword. Argent lends a hand and downs the last one with a Magic Missile. The only zombies left in sight are those wading into the swamp waters.
But she hears Elspeth's voice calling out to her.
"That settles that", Ivy mentally concludes. Reluctantly, she'll let the remaining zombies go. "Perhaps if we succeed in this mission they'll be taken care off in the process?", she thinks to herself."I will be needing your assistance, Ivy. The task that lies ahead is a great one and I will need your goodness and strength to succeed. I will need your strength as well, Lord Acerion."

Argent
Argent:
The Invoker is happy to assist Ivy in the destruction of another undead. She eyes many of the others going into the shrine below her. There doesn't seem to be the sound of battle going on, so Argent isn't that concerned for their safety. She'll continue to fly about the Shrine and keep an eye out for any trouble.

Lilia
Lilia:
The Elf Maiden will eagerly strip the magic items from Vryxnr first. Many of the others are too large to deal with right now. She'll leave the armor and shields be, but will gather up the rest and place them in an out of the way spot near the front steps of the shrine. Identifying the items can wait for the time being.
Once there, Lilia's sharp elfin hearing can make out the human Priestess' words. Intrigued by what she hears, Lilia will step inside the shrine to observe what is going on.
Lilia looks up as Kylie comes up to her. "Of course, young one. The gathering of potentially new magic items is always exciting. There may be something of promise here.""May I help?" If Lilia agrees, Kylie will use her innate ability to detect magic to help Lilia collect up whatever enchanted items can be found.

Chareos
Chareos watches as Sherwood emerges from the shrine proclaiming it safe to enter. Staff in hand he follows after the others and looks around the meager dwellings. With a snort of disbelief he adds, "It is hard to believe a so-called lord would live in such conditions."
The call for strength of heart and will is soon made for Elspeth's ritual. He will approach and do as instructed closing his eyes and thinking of his loved ones as the ritual unfolds.

Laucian
Laucian enters the shrine soon after Validar and the others with his sword drawn. He looks around and notes grime and filth all over but more so that there is no decoration whatsoever.... or perhaps this is what this god deems worthy of his presence.
Laucian walks the shrine looking for anything out of the ordinary such as hidden compartments or doors. Soon his elvish ears pick up Elspeth's plea for help for added strength. Forgoing his actions he will approach Elspeth and the others, "In any way Ehlonna's servant may help, you only need ask," he says with an easy smile.

Acerion
Acerion:
Ivy whips past Acerion as Grondar casts the first of several healing spells upon him. He chuckles as she chases off after the few zombies that are milling about, no doubt still shaken from the number of turnings and divine powers of good that had felled so many of their number already.
"I believe she would chase them down the very roads of hell, and I would be inclined to follow her," Acerion will say with a knowing smile to Grondar as he watches her bash a zombie into oblivion's waiting embrace.
"I will be needing your assistance, Ivy. The task that lies ahead is a great one and I will need your goodness and strength to succeed. I will need your strength as well, Lord Acerion."
"And so you shall have it," Acerion calls back to lady Elspeth. Excusing himself from Grondar, he moves to join her as she enters the shrine. He remains stoic as he stands guard beside her as she stares at the black liquid. It is all he can do to not attempt to cleanse it himself, but he lacks the insight on just how to do that so he remains still.
"This will not be an easy task. The black liquid has a strange magical life of its own and will not simply be defeated by mundane means. Turning back, Elspeth will wait for Ivy and Lord Acerion to join her. Once they are there, she will cast her spell and then take their hands. Elspeth will close her eyes and steel herself for the task to come.
Acerion will concentrate on opening himself up so that Elspeth can take what she needs from him. Depending on just how powerful she truly is, she may find out more about him than few know, but it doesn't matter for it is one of his main purposes for being here. He becomes aware of several others of their adventuring band joining in and offering their strength and Acerion is confident they will have all the power they shall need against this vile foe.

Cleansing of the Black Water
VALIDAR -
"Elspeth should do her actions now and be done with this vile liquid. Then we will dismantle this foul place, stone by stone if need be. A few of our number should be prepared both inside and out to be ready for any unforeseen surprises."
"I am as ready as I can be, Lord Validar."
Validar wll nod his understanding and stand guard near the pool, as Espeth does her 'inspection'.

Validar sees some of the others move forward as well and join the circle. The young noble gives a look toward the black water and sneers. He sheathes his enchanted weapon and moves behind the group, placing one guantleted hand on Acerion's shoulder and the other on Elspeth's. He closes his eyes and prepares himself for what is to come.

Conquer or Die!
Validar's Henchmen
Arocken -
Arocken doesn't get to participate in the fight as he would wish and is quite irritated by that, but keeps his tongue quiet. He quickly takes up a guard position before Validar has a chance to give the order.
When everyone starts to enter the evil shrine, Arocken will move to the steps near his fellow elf, the one known as Lilia, and knocks an arrow, looking off into the swamp.
Arocken exchanges a look with Lilia as she enters the Shrine. Arocken too follows, ready to aid whatever cause he may. He takes his place behind Laucian and places his right hand on his fellow ranger's shoulder.
"We must cleanse the evil and cleanse it we shall, as one united!"
Po-
Po is obviously avoided by the adventurer Talia, so he goes about caring for the horses and resting as best as he can.

Surviving the Swamp Monster
Grondar:
"I like the sound of that, my friend," Grondar replies. "I've already been giving some thought to how to accomplish the razing of this pig sty."Validar wrote:"Elspeth should do her actions now and be done with this vile liquid. Then we will dismantle this foul place, stone by stone if need be. A few of our number should be prepared both inside and out to be ready for any unforseen surprises."
Grondar chuckles in his usual deep-voiced manner. "I do not doubt you, my friend. Her faith is powerful and moving, is it not?"Acerion wrote:"I believe she would chase them down the very roads of hell, and I would be inclined to follow her," Acerion will say with a knowing smile to Grondar as he watches her bash a zombie into oblivion's waiting embrace.
Following Acerion toward the priestess, Grondar reaches out and takes the joining of Elspeth's and Ivy's hands between his own. "I will help in whatever way I may. Please, use my strength to aid your efforts, lady Elspeth. You will not find me lacking."Elspeth wrote:"This will not be an easy task. Ring of Power
Kharyna -
Regardless of the results of her Detect Magic scan of the inside of the shrine, Kharyna will join the Circle of Power that is growing, after informing anyone if there is indeed any unusual magic detected here.
She hesitates for a moment. "Elspeth, is there any reason why some of us should remain out of the circle in case something unexpected should happen or is it more advantageous in this case to have as many of us joined as possible?"
