With Kylie, Sherra, and Talia rejoining the others in the courtyard in front of the castle, the Guardians are united once more. There is much going on as the priests move about healing those in need. Kharyna, Chareos, and Lilia stand near the Web discussing how to go about removing it and the trolls inside.
After discarding Chareos' suggestion, Kharyna casts Dispel Magic on the Web. Lilia's spell is removed from the courtyard. At the same time, the trolls captured within are dispelled back to where ever they had been summoned from.
All that is left are three men. Two of the three fall to their knees in anguish. It appears that they too had been under the influence of the black water and have been released from its affects. The third looks at his comrades in confusion, but is peaceable.
Lord Validar converses with Lord Cavius. As they speak, Ivy uses her Lay on Hands ability to heal Cavius. Acerion also uses his same ability and the Lord of Rennydale is feeling somewhat better. He was very battered and quite near death. While he is now stable, it will take a long time to heal.
"The hospitality of Castle Rennydale is at you and your comrades disposal", Lord Cavius will state. "What there is of it at any rate. Many of the household staff were cast into the dungeons for imagined offenses and cruelly treated. They will need the skills of your priests to recover from their ordeal. Also many of the men around me should not be trusted. They were not part of my regular forces and can be cruel and violent. Furthermore, there are others here who were controlled such as I."
Cavius looks about, trying to find the men in question. Almost unnoticed by everyone, several men have moved past where Swanny had downed the black robed priest and stand in the hallway leading to the throne room of the castle. One of the men is the one Lyonessa had Hypnotized. Another was the one man from the Web. Two more came from the top of the right hand castle tower.
"Them!", Lord Cavius calls out, pointing at the group of men. "All of them are under this dire influence!
Realizing that they've been spotted, the four men rush through a set of double doors and down the hallway leading to the throne room.
"After them!", Lord Cavius calls out as he picks up his fallen swords. "We cannot let them escape with the brazier!"

GM Notes
GM Notes:
The chase is on!
Ivy would estimate that Lord Cavius had lost about 94% of his hit points. After the being healed by her and Acerion, he's up to around 28%.
While the above was going on there were other things taking place. The peaceful members of the attack force were helping get the groups mounts stabled for instance.
Hit Points:
Chareos 46 of 52
Lara 30 of 46
Swanny 38 of 64
Validar 21 of 76
Now what?

VALIDAR -
"After them!", Lord Cavius calls out as he picks up his fallen swords. "We cannot let them escape with the brazier!"
"Those who are fastest! After them! Mages be prepared to stop them with spells if necessary!" As the Guardians begin to rush after the 4 men into the throne room, Validar will ask Lord Cavius, as he picks up his dropped weapons, "Are there other exits from your throne room? Perhaps we can cut them off and seal their escape route?"

Conquer or Die!
Henchmen...
Arocken -
Arocken, being light on his feet and relatively unencumbered, even with his magical chain mail armor, will quickly take chase of the men. He will prepare his bow once he enters the throne room and fires at the first of the four men he can see.
"You'll not get away from us that easily!"

Ivy
Ivy:
"A mystery for another time, Lord Acerion. There are those who need my assistance. Excuse me, please."
Ivy catches the part about those unfortunates imprisoned down in the dungeon. Seeing that everything up here seems to be in order, she'll go along with those going down to free the prisoners to render aid.
Ivy is intrigued by Acerion's comments. Truly there is more to the nobleman than meets the eye. However, there are other more pressing matters to deal with at the time.Acerion will nod respectfully upon noticing Ivy's approach and will smile at her. "Yes, although it is true Heironeous has given me powers to aid in my cause and duty, there are some abilities I possess that did not originate from his blessings," Acerion will reply cryptically.

Lara
Lara:
Lara allows herself a small smile as she listens to the dialogue between Kharyna, Chareos, and Lilia. Oh, to be that inexperienced as an adventurer again! Lara stands ready to assist but Kharyna's spell seems to take care of everything.
"Well, that was easy enough. Being only summoned monsters, those trolls were easy to dispel. Looks like we're about done for the evening."
Lara's sharp elfin ears pick up that something is happening up by the castle entrance with Lord Cavius. However, she doesn't see anything heading this way. She'll keep her weapons ready for use just in case.

Lilia
Lilia:
The Elf Maiden watches as Kharyna weaves her magical spell and the Web is dispelled, along with the trolls contained within.
"Well done, Kharyna of Mystra", Lilia will state.
Excusing herself, Lilia wills step away. Spotting Kylie coming floating down from above, she'll take the time to see if the half-elf is well.
"There you are, Kylie. Where have you been?"

Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!
Talia
Talia:
There's lots going on, but little for Talia herself to do. So, she'll find a spot out of the way and just wait to see what happens next.
"We had plenty of excitement ourselves, Swanny, but I'm glad that everything has been taken care of."Spotting Talia return with Sherra, Swanny goes to make sure her comrade is safe. "Hey there, Talia! You missed all the excitement!"

I shall find the safest path.
Swanny
Swanny:
Swanny has been hanging around the front castle entrance and mostly staying out of the way for the moment. But when Lord Cavius identifies others who were infected like he was, Swanny spots the four men rushing off to the throne room.
"I'm on it!", Swanny calls out as she rushes after the fleeing men. Along the way she'll grab her Flame Tongue and be ready to attack the men.
"No doubt of that, woodsman! Just a matter of time."Lau wrote:"Indeed so. Though I have no doubt you will find another party soon enough."
Swanny will grin back at the Dungeon Scout, fully realizing that her idea of excitement probably wasn't all that exciting. "Yeah, everything seems to have been taken care of for the moment."Talia wrote:"We had plenty of excitement ourselves, Swanny, but I'm glad that everything has been taken care off."

Lets get this party started!
Corley
Corley:
With the last troll burned by Lady Lara, Corley has wandered back to Lord Validar's side. He's content to let Validar handle the discussions with Lord Cavius.
When the four men bolt to the throne room, Corley will also give chase. He won't draw his sword in the hallway, saving that until they reach the larger throne room.
"Stop villains!"

foot race..
Sherra:
Sherra is glad to see everyone faring pretty well, although it appeared Po was in dire straits, but Ivy's abilities proved more than sufficient. She'll walk around and try to find Grondar. Spying him tending to those who are injured, she'll leave him be, smiling over at him if he looks her way but nothing more. There will plenty of time to talk later.
She also doesn't hang around too close to Validar since him and the other lords no doubt have much to discuss. Talia also seems to be surrounded by her companions from the group she originally travelled with. Therefore Sherra just finds a nice quiet wall to lean up against and wait. Soon enough, the quiet is shattered by Lord Cavius.

Sherra will leap up and give chase as well. She's not as heavily armored as many of the lords present and may be able to close the distance a bit faster. Also her weapons are more useful for close-quarters fighting should any of the men turn to engage their pursuers in the hallway. If possible she will throw a brace of her knives if she gets a clear shot while chasing them. If not, then she will draw blades whenever they stop or the situation is not so crowded."Them!", Lord Cavius calls out, pointing at the group of men. "All of them are under this dire influence!

Laucian
As he makes his way through the others, seeing to the wounded as he goes, he hears Cavius' words of treachery amongst his men. Soon after the noble points out four men who turn and flee toward the throne room.
Quickly regaining his feet, as well as his bow Laucian heads in after the men. If a table is nearby and there are more than a few following, Laucian will climb the table while knocking an arrow to his bow. He will take aim at the frontmost (if possible, if not the next) man and attempt a Called shot to the man's knee.
If there is no table he will merely move to the side and take aim at the frontmost man's knee.

Chareos
Chareos watches as Kharyna Dispels the Web. Much to his surprise the trolls within also dissapear!!! As things begin to calm down Chareos begins to walk amongst the others giving congratulations as well as seeing if he can help in any way.
He soon overhears Validar and Lord Cavius' conversation about untrustworthy men among his remaining troops. The thought has crossed the man's mind. Just a few moments later his thoughts and worries become reality as Cavius identifies four men who turn and run from sight.
Cavius soon points out that there are many ways out of the throne room but only two possible ways to leave the castle.

Speaking plainly but with respect,"It would be wise then to move your archers to the ramparts and have them guard the wall that looks to the swamp. If you wish I will accompany them.""Yes, several," Lord Cavius will say. "However, the main gate is the only way out of the castle, short of going over the wall!
Lyonessa:
Lyonessa watches as there is discussion over the trolls that remain. She waits with some dread as the mages seem to offer different opinions. Finally Kharyna seems to dispel not only the web but the trolls as well! such power she possesses. thank Mystra for that and that it is over
Lyonessa sighs with relief as she continues to aid those in need of it. Speaking with the other clerics of the party to find out who may still require healing, she moves to where she can be of most help. As the shout of Lord Cavius rings out, Lyonessa observes several of the group responding. As there is still work to be done outside the halls, Lyonessa does not go with those who are giving chase.

Securing the Castle
Grondar:
Grondar returns to using his own gifts - mundane and blessed - to aid all who have need. Whatever spells remain in his repertoire will be converted to healing and his own patron's gift used as needed.
"Excuse me a moment, young man," he says, rising to his feet. Grabbing his shield off his back, he takes off at superhuman speed after those just departed. As he runs, he draws his mace. Grondar is entirely ready to fight his way through the men to the brazier.
"And none taken," Grondar replies, still smiling."No slight intended, my dwarven friend," Validar will respond.
Grondar has watched as Ivy healed the afflicted man. "That is a most wondrous gift that your patron has bestowed upon you. Truly miraculous!""I am pleased I was able to repair the damage done. Truly, the Blue Lady's gifts are most powerful. I will see to the others now."
Grondar returns to using his own gifts - mundane and blessed - to aid all who have need. Whatever spells remain in his repertoire will be converted to healing and his own patron's gift used as needed.
"I fear that I know little about these men, not even which god they serve. All I do know is that this god seeks to corrupt and destroy all living things. It seeks to turn the world into utter chaos. More puzzling was that they were not all that powerful. Only the simplest of clerical spells could they cast."
"I would have to agree with Ivy's analysis," Grondar replies. "It would seem that this being has not yet achieved great power here. It may be little more than a demi-god, or may be from a far-distant plane and cut off from its source of power. This could explain the priests' lack of spell ability. Either way, gathering worshippers - through corruption or otherwise - is a likely way for it to gain power. Our best hope is to remove it before it can do so.""It could be some new diabolical power moving into our world," Ivy theorizes. "If the god's servants have only access to minor magicks, it could be possible that their master is unable to grant them spells. The simplest of clerical spells come from the priests' own faith in their god. I myself have just reached the skill level where I can draw upon magicks granted to me by Azrella and those good beings who serve with her up in the heavens."
From the description it sounds like a Staff of Withering, a foul magic item that can steal vitality from those struck from it.
Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that his learning includes the knowledge they need. "I have heard of such an item, but alas, my training does not seem to include the formula for its destruction. Perhaps it can be broken by a heavy blow from another powerful item, such as my mace. However, I can't say for certain, but am willing to attempt it."Ivy will agree that the staff is probably a Staff of Withering. "That is most likely. Such an evil staff can unnaturally age those struck or cause their limbs to weaken and wither away. It should be destroyed."
Grondar notices Sherra's smile and returns it with his own craggy grin. It is clearly apparent that he is enjoying this opportunity to use the Revered Mother's gifts to the benefit of those gathered here.Sherra is glad to see everyone faring pretty well, although it appeared Po was in dire straits, but Ivy's abilities proved more than sufficient. "After them!", Lord Cavius calls out as he picks up his fallen swords. "We cannot let them escape with the brazier!"
All the shouting catches Grondar's attention as he is binding a minor wound on one of Cavius' men. Knowing that his enchanted boots make him perhaps the fastest of the entire group, Grondar excuses himself from his present work."Those who are fastest!

Kylie:
Kylie settles lightly onto the roof of the stables. Overhearing the discussion of Kharyna's plans to Dispel the Web, Kylie readies her Scorcher for use on the trolls. However, the trolls disappear along with the Web, bringing a smile to Kylie's face. "Nicely done, Kharyna!" She's glad not to have another battle again so soon.
Admittedly, despite the unreliability of her own magics, she's impressed with how she performed in the battle just concluded. Having singlehandedly taken one group of guards out of the fight and occupied another group so that they couldn't participate in the battle below seems like a fair accomplishment.
The danger passed, Kylie drops from the stable roof to the ground and moves over to where Corley is relaxing from his own exertions. "You look well, Lord Corley. It seems we both did well in this battle." There is something in Kylie's bearing that indicates an increased confidence, and she seems proud of her part in the fight. Of course, Corley's lack of injuries please her as well.

"Of course, Lord Validar, it is the least the people of Rennydale can do. But first I must release the prisoners from the dungeon. Poor souls who were unjustly imprisoned in my madness. They must be freed."
Kylie overhears the discussion of releasing the prisoners. As it had been her intention to do so initially anyway, she would be interested in joining such an effort. However, events take a turn so as to delay that trip...Ivy catches the part about those unfortunates imprisoned down in the dungeon. Seeing that everything up here seems to be in order, she'll go along with those going down to free the prisoners to render aid.

Kylie knows from experience that she is faster than most men. Part of the reason that she relies on magical bracers, rather than armor, is to retain that advantage. Hearing Validar's cry, Kylie immediately takes off running after them. She can't help note that Corley is right behind her, which relieves any fears for her own safety. She still has that Scorcher available, and her bow is still in her hand, so the corrupted men are likely to feel her displeasure."Those who are fastest! After them! Mages be prepared to stop them with spells if necessary!" As the Guardians begin to rush after the 4 men into the throne room, Validar will ask Lord Cavius, as he picks up his dropped weapons, "Are there other exits from your throne room? Acerion
Acerion:
"A mystery for another time, Lord Acerion. There are those who need my assistance. Excuse me, please."
"Indeed, my lady. I look forward to when there is time for such endeavors," Acerion replies and looks deep into Ivy's eyes before bowing again slightly and letting her finish tending to any who still have need of her touch.
Acerion spins when he hears Lord Cavius call out and sees several of the group begin to move, giving chase to the four men still held in the sway of vile corruption.
"Those who are fastest! After them! Mages be prepared to stop them with spells if necessary!"
Acerion is not one of the fastest amoung the companions, but as the other lords are giving chase, he is not going to stand aside, especially if his axe may be needed by what might occur if the four men are successful. With grim determination, Acerion joins the others and moves as swiftly as his heavily armored form can.

odds & ends...
Validar -
Seeing a number of the Guardians of Light rush after the four men who are still to be considered hostile and dangerous, Validar looks for other ways to corner them.
"Are there other exits from your throne room? Perhaps we can cut them off and seal their escape route?"
"Yes, several," Lord Cavius will say. "However, the main gate is the only way out of the castle, short of going over the wall!
"Assuming they do not have magical escape means," Validar will say. "Come lead us to another entrance where we may be able to trap them between us!" If Cavius leads another direction, then Validar will follow, sword drawn.

Kharyna -
Lara allows herself a small smile as she listens to the dialogue between Kharyna, Chareos, and Lilia. Oh, to be that inexperienced as an adventurer again! Lara stands ready to assist but Kharyna's spell seems to take care of everything.
"Well, that was easy enough. Being only summoned monsters, those trolls were easy to dispel. Looks like we're about done for the evening."
"Indeed, it was simple. Better to be safe than sorry, but I expected them to all wink out," Kharyna will say with a smile.
The Elf Maiden watches as Kharyna weaves her magical spell and the Web is dispelled, along with the trolls contained within.
"Well done, Kharyna of Mystra", Lilia will state.
"Thanks. Just a minor detail that needed to be cleaned up. I am ready for a nice bath and a soft bed."
Seeing some of the others chasing after some run aways, Kharyna will stand her ground. A moment later, Kharyna will hear Cavius mention that the walls or the gate are the only escape routes. She will cast her levitate to be ready to gain height and see if the men manage to escape, although in all honesty she expects the ones racing after them to make short work of the unfortunates. "Again, better to be safe than sorry," she will say to Lilia and Lara and prepare a ranged offensive spell in case she needs it.

Post Continued:
Lord Cavius points out several men still under the influence of the black water slowly making their way to the throne room. Fearing that they are attempting to make off with magical brazier the Guardians give pursuit!
Laucian acts first, being already close to the fleeing men. He lines up a shot and fires an arrow at one of the men. His aim is true and the shaft pierces the man's knee from the rear. The man goes down in a heap, screaming in pain. The targets are obscured by others giving chase before Laucian can line up his next shot.
Sherra throws a knife while she still has an open shot. The blade clips another of the men in the back of his right shoulder. He cries out in pain, but keeps on running.
The hallway gets rapidly filled up as several others join the chase. Arocken, Swanny, and Grondar, who seemingly sped in out of nowhere, race after the men and are rapidly catching up to them.
Arocken is the first to reach a target and he connects in the back with his longsword. The fleeing man in leather armor falls to the hallway floor, but will live from his injury.
Swanny is next to strike and after two powerful blows, the man she was chasing now lies scattered in the hallway in numerous pieces.
Grondar reaches the lead runner and whacks him in the back with his mace. The blow causes the man to stumble and he too goes down.
Reinforcements quickly arrive, Corley, Kylie, and Acerion, and the survivors are captured.
The brazier is still in the throne room where Lord Cavius left it. It’s a plain enough looking item, but those close to it do get an uneasy feeling. Those sensitive to such things will feel outright malevolence coming from it.
With that excitement over, things begin to wind down. Lord Cavius leads the way into the basement of the castle where those unjustly imprisoned are released. Most are reluctant to depart fearing this to be some trick, but the appearance of numerous good clerics will put their minds at ease. Most have wounds and all are hungry. Taking care of them will take several hours at best.
The hospitality of the castle is available to the adventurers. There are only four guest rooms in the castle, each designed for a signal guest. Cavius had only a few guests this far out in the outskirts of the kingdom. Food will be prepared, but that will take several hours as well.

KHARYNA -
Everything calms down and the men who were still loyal to the enemy are killed or captured.
Her levitation unneeded, Kharyna will join up with the others in the throne room. As the discussion turns to how to deal with the Brazier, Kharyna steps forward.
"I have a simple solution to the problem," Kharyna will state, pausing to let that sink in to everyone. After a moment, she continues, "My mother is a mage of no small ability and she possesses a magickal artifact that uses other magick items to power it. I could simply take this back to my mother and toss it into the artifact and use its power as 'fuel'. Serves two purposes quite nicely." Kharyna will smile at everyone as she waits for a reply.

While down freeing the prisoners from the dungeon, Lord Cavius will stop at a particualar cell. Using the keys, he quickly unlocks to door. Cavius seems almost ashamed to face the occupant of the cell.
"I am truly sorry for what happened, Gwenith", Cavius says softly. "With the help of these fine adventurers, the madness that held me has been broken. You are free once more."
Those on hand can see that Gwenith is an attractive woman with auburn hair and blue eyes.
Turning to those Guardians with him, Cavius will say, "Please meet Gwenith Moonsong. She was my Captain of Guards until an act of kindness on her part caused me to place her here."

VALIDAR -
As Lord Cavius leads some of the group down to the dungeons, Validar will see to his warhorse, Havok, amd prepare him for the evening's rest as well as watching to see that the stablehands give the other horses proper care.
That task completed, the noble lord will commandeer one of the guest rooms of the castle, offered by their host. Validar will remove his armor, keeping his sword belted at his side, as normal, while still awake. There the group can complete any personal discussions necessary.
"We will use Kharyna's magickal shelter for ourselves. If some of you choose to use the guest rooms, that is an option as well to give us more room. It seems the clerics will be rather busy with duties to the unfortunates that were unjustly confined in the dungeons. Any of you who wish to have a strategy debriefing on our attack can join me in one of the guest rooms."
When Cavius emerges, with his Captain of the Guards now freed and by his side, Validar will introduce himself as well. "A pleasure to meet you, captain."
Later, when Cavius has dealt with his tasks, Validar, and whomever else wishes to, will discuss the ongoing situation with the Lord of Rennydale and ask questions about the swamp and this Lord of Corruption.
"I think your solution for the evil brazier is just fine, Kharyna of Mystra. If your answer destroys it, then by all means, please do so."

"Sounds fine to me. The shelter will have about 8 bunks, so we should all fit, especially if a few use the guest rooms. I can cast two Shelters if necessary, as I have one stored in my Ring as well. I think we would be wise to stay in a secure area considering what just happened, in case there is some attempt at retaliation during the night."
Kharyna will decline the offer for the strategy session, instead preferring to get to sleep as soon as possible to prepare for new spells in the morning.
"I think your solution for the evil brazier is just fine, Kharyna of Mystra. If your answer destroys it, then by all means, please do so."
Kharyna will do so, asking Swannie to help her with putting the brazier into the Portable hole and being certain to avoid direct contact, just to be on the safe side.

Laucian
Laucian watches as his aim is true as his missile pierces the man's knee effectively dropping the man to the ground. He nocks another arrow to his bow and turns his attention to the remaining men but his shot is blocked by the rushing forms of his comrades. He turns his attention back to the fallen man.
As the man clutches at the arrow he will state calmly to the man. "Throw your weapons aside and no harm will befall you."
Once the man is secured he will ask Grondar," Would you cover him with your crossbow, so that I may remove the shaft?"
If he agrees Laucian will see to the man's wound. Afterward he will speak to Corley, "Could you inform Lord Cavius of the situation and ask him what he wishes us to do with the prisoners?"
Later on Lord Cavius leads the way to the depths of the castle to the dungeons. Laucian watches as he unlocks the cells in turn. Yet the occupants do not wish to step forth from their prison. With that Laucian step forward to a cell and reaches a hand in good faith and states, "You have nothing to fear. No harm will befall you. Come let us tend to your needs."
As he helps a women to the stairs he notices Validar and Cavuis unlocking a cell and a striking woman steps forward and introductions are made. "A pleasure Captain."
"If possible I would like to attend this debriefing as well," he will state. Also remind Lord Cavius of what he had asked of him earlier in the courtyard.
Seeing no need to take a room that one of the others may need to use Laucian will opt to sleep in the magical shelter if room is available. "May I bunk with your group again Kharyna?" he will ask.
He will go through his daily rights as well as seeing to Starfire's needs.
(Welcome to the New frontiers, Gwenith)

Chareos
As the excitement settles down Chareos as well as the others head down to the dungeons. As the light becomes dimmer Chareos watches Lord Cavius unlock each cell one by one. Most of the occupants look at each other as if its some cruel hoax. He watches Laucian move forward and offer his hand to those within. After a short time many of the captives step forward to their freedom. He watches as many look half starved and beaten or injured in some way or another. He begins helping those who can not stand on their own power to the light of day.
With the task complete, Cavius moves to a particular cell and quickly unlocks it. He says some apologitic words to the figure as she steps into the light of freedom. A woman with long auburn hair and deep blue eyes emerges and she is soon introduced as Gwenth Moonsong, former Captain of the Guard. Chareos says his greetings. "Hail and well met Captain. I am Chareos."

"I would like to attend this debriefing. When are we to gather?"
"Kharyna, I to see no problem with the suggestion you have offered. As Validar has stated if it destroys it I am for it. Even if this Artifact drains it of its power it would be beneficial to us. If it does the later we could merely melt it down into nothing."
When the time comes to claiming rooms Chareos will wait for the women to have first choice. Afterward he will decide after everyone has spoken their wishes. Yet it seems there is no problem of lodgings as Kharyna should have enough room for the others and himself.
"If it would be acceptable I would like to stay in the secure shelter if the option is open."
When the three prisoners are gathered Chareos will attempt to cast a Dispel Magic on them. Perferably when they are in their cells

Background ..
As the day was drawing close to morning Gwenth was walking near the battlements when she heard the squeaky sound of wagon wheels. It is awfully early in the day for wagons to be moving she thought to herself. She moved closer to the sounds as the wagon came into view.
She approached the wagon with her left hand resting on her sword hilt, " Halt!" she cried, " You know the laws. You are not permitted to leave at this time."
An elderly man stuck his head out of the wagon and replied, "Please Miss, we only wish to escape this land and its tyranny. Many things have happened to this land that we have witnessed. Our sons and daughters, their mothers and fathers taken in the middle of the night," as he pointed to a red headed girl with freckles on her face. "We have lost much and we do not wish to lose what remains of our families and friends."
These words struck the woman with great trouble. Has she not seen this so plainly.... For a time her Lordship ran these lands with respect and dignity where all his people were treated fairly. But now, ever since he and his men returned from the forsaken swamp Lord Cavius was not the same man he once was. How could she have not noticed the men and women being dragged to the dungeons for imaginable crimes. She had seen the paperwork but surmised it as merely a joke from one of her underlings and dismissed the idea of such a thing.
As she looked into herself for answers she realized just how foolish she had been. "I promise you this old man. All will be well for you shall have your freedom from this turmoil. I will accompany you to the gates and order the guards to stand down."
"Thank ye, we will forever be in your debt."
"Nay, it is I whom am in yours," she said as she bowed to the elderly man. "You have shown me the error in my ways. How could I have not seen this. You will not be the last to leave these lands. This I swear."
As they neared the guards they began to move to intercept the wagon and force them back but halted when they saw their captain. "Let them pass."
"Those are not the orders we were given."
"Who are you to question an order that was given to you? Stand down and let them pass. And this has never happened. Understand?" One guard looked tentatively to the next then stepped back letting them pass.
A few hours later Gwenith was sitting at her desk filling out paper ork when there was a rapping at her door. "Enter," and a young guard entered. He stowed his helm under his helm and replied, "Ma'am, his Lordship has summoned you. He wishes to see you immediately."
She placed her quill down and looked up at the guard as if studying his face. "Very well, I will be there momentarily. She rose to her feet and placed her swordbelt to her hip. Once she was ready she headed towards Lord Cavius's throne room?
"You asked to see me my Lord?" she asked as she bowed.
"Yes, there has been word that my people are leaving these walls. How is this possible when I ordered you specifically not to allow this?"
"The fault is no one's but my own. I gave word for the men to stand down and let a wagon pass. They were merely children and beggers," she explained.
As she spoke the words a dark-garbed man emerged on the left of Cavuis. He glared at her with disdain then whispered something into his lord's ear.
Lord Cavuis stared into her cold blue eyes and nodded as the priest spoke to him. Finally Cavius spoke.
"You have underminded me for the last time. You forget your place! It is I Lord Cavius who rules these lands not his treacherous Captain of the Guard. Your services are no longer required. Take her away."
"It is not I who betrayed you. It is you who betrayed yourself and your people!!! You are nothing more than a worm crawling underneath my boot. And I will see those people free as we all should be." And with that her left hand flashed toward her sword hilt and a metallic hiss was soon heard as her long sword glimmered in the room.
Cavuis merely laughed, "Such Fire, such energy. Yet it will serve you naught."
Before she realized what had happened two men in black robes were standing behind her as she lost control of her body movements. As much as she tried she could not move. Cavius looked at her with a menacing look and said. "I will see you rot in my dungeon 'til you are nothing more than bone and senew." And all was then Dark.........

Present Day :
She stood in the cell pacing back and forth. The cell was dark, damp ,and cold. She tried to keep herself sane by pacing and singing softly to herself.
Was that footsteps she heard coming this way? Was this a trick her mind was playing on her?
She heard the jingle of keys comming down this way . Was is another prisoner being throw down in the dark dungeon for the sake of the Lord's amusement? She turned slightly and saw The Lord standing there.
As he apologized for what he has done she felt sorrow for him in her heart that he had not controled his own actions. She bowed to Lord Cavius "My Lord you are back to yourself, is there anything I can do?". She turned to look at each adventurer as introductions were made. She offered her services to help them out in whatever way she could and whatever way they needed her.
Gwenith decided her first order was to help them get the others out of their cells . She leant her hand to the great adventurers as they
freed the beloved people so wrongly jailed.
waves to everyone nice to meet you all

Ivy
Ivy:
Ivy watches the four running men being stopped. Seeing Grondar and Laucian tending to their needs, Ivy will follow Lord Cavius into the dungeon.
Much later that evening, Ivy will return looking extremely tired and weary. She probably missed the debriefing and the discussion on what to do with the evil magic items. All she's really interested in now is sleep.
"That it is, my friend. I am almost ashamed to have doubted the Blue Lady's power. Most Holy Warriors have the ability to cure disease in others. Mother Azrella extends this ability to cure magical afflictions as well. I was not sure of what happened to Po could be undone by this ability, but as we can all plainly see it was."Grondar has watched as Ivy healed the afflicted man. "That is a most wondrous gift that your patron has bestowed upon you. Truly miraculous!"
"Yes, exactly," Ivy agrees. "The faster we can restore those changed, the quicker this dark power will be dispelled from our lands.""I would have to agree with Ivy's analysis," Grondar replies. Our best hope is to remove it before it can do so."
"As do I, Lord Acerion", Ivy will say stepping a way. Is that a slight blush to her cheeks?"Indeed, my lady. I look forward to when there is time for such endeavors," Acerion replies and looks deep into Ivy's eyes before bowing again slightly and letting her finish tending to any who still have need of her touch.
Ivy watches the four running men being stopped. Seeing Grondar and Laucian tending to their needs, Ivy will follow Lord Cavius into the dungeon.
"Greetings Gwenith Moonsong", Ivy will state. "Are you in need of healing?" If Gwenith indicates that she does need healing, Ivy will tend to her wounds before moving on to others.Turning to those Guardians with him, Cavius will say, "Please meet Gwenith Moonsong. She was my Captain of Guards until an act of kindness on her part caused me to place her here."

For the glory of the Blue Lady!
Lord Corley
Corley:
When the chase is on to capture the four still influenced men, Corley is surprised to find Lady Kylie in the thick of things. He is somewhat relieved and a bit disappointed that others were able to reach them first. Relieved that Kylie was saved from the potential danger and disappointed that he himself was not faster.
Once Corley does reach the men, he'll stand guard over them until their fate is decided.
Later he'll sample the cooking of Castle Rennydale before retiring for the evening. His armor will be carefully removed and cleaned, preparing it for the next day's use. He will attend Validar's debriefing.
Welcome Lady Gwenith!
"As do you, Lady Kylie," Lord Corley says as he spies her approaching. Whatever happened to her in the battle must have gone well as she does not seem timid. "Fortunately, Lady Lara was able to permanently dispose of the foul trolls I was battling. Powerful, fearless beast it was. You would do well to avoid them in the future."The danger passed, Kylie drops from the stable roof to the ground and moves over to where Corley is relaxing from his own exertions. "You look well, Lord Corley. It seems we both did well in this battle." There is something in Kylie's bearing that indicates an increased confidence, and she seems proud of her part in the fight. Of course, Corley's lack of injuries pleases her as well.

"Indeed, Laucian. A fine suggestion." Corley will look for Lord Cavius or Validar so as to find out what is to be done with these men.Afterward he will speak to Corley, "Could you inform Lord Cavius of the situation and ask him what he wishes us to do with the prisoners?"

Lara:
Inside the throne room, Lara will eye the brazier with a curious eye. "Not much to look at, is it?
Lara will turn in for the evening in Kharyna's Secure Shelter.
Welcome to the game, Gwenith
"I'll second that notion", Lara will add with a yawn. "Getting out of this cold would most welcome too.""Thanks. Just a minor detail that needed to be cleaned up. I am ready for a nice bath and a soft bed."

"It is a normal procedure for us when coming across malevolent magic items", Lara will add. "Chasreena's Spell Engine will drain the enchantments from both items and destroy them in the process. It is a quick and clean way to dispose of them.""I have a simple solution to the problem," Kharyna will state, pausing to let that sink in to everyone.

Lilia:
The Elf Maiden stands ready to assist with her magic, but others in the group deal with the potential danger. Standing down, Lilia is interested in checking out this brazier Lord Cavius spoke of. She'll examine it, but does not touch it.
"You can almost feel the hatred wafting off of it", Lilia notes.

Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!
Talia
Talia:
The dark haired dungeon scout stays out of the way while others chase after the men. With everything seemingly taken care off, Talia's more than ready to call it a night. She'll stay near Kharyna and be ready to retire for the evening once the magical shelter is called up.

I shall find the safest path.
Swanny cleans up
Swanny:
Swanny chases after the men and manages to catch one of them. Fortunately, her enchanted armor is nowhere as limiting in movement as normal armor is. Even armored Swanny is still quite quick.
Reaching her target, Swanny lashes out with her longsword. Before she can even realize it she makes short and bloody work of the man.
"Oopps… Seems I got a bit carried away there. Sorry about the mess."
Later she'll retire for the evening in the shelter Kharyna conjures

"Sure, I always get to do the dirty work…", Swanny grumbles, but its easy to tell from her grin that she's just teasing.Kharyna will do so, asking Swannie to help her with putting the brazier into the Portable hole and being certain to avoid direct contact, just to be on the safe side.
Later she'll retire for the evening in the shelter Kharyna conjures
Lets get this party started!
Acerion
Acerion:
The men are run down before Acerion can close the distance, but all that was truly important is that they were stopped. He stands by until all have been secured and listens with some interest about the topic of destroying the brazier.
He will accompany Lord Cavius down to the dungeons and stand ready to help in giving aid should it be needed. His own magical healing is mostly exhausted, but Acerion can offer mundane help should the need be there.
When Gwenith is released and some information about who the woman is has been revealed, Acerion will greet her along with the other companions present. He refrains from his typical greeting given the circumstances and can always address her properly at a later time. For now, a respectful nod is what he will offer when introduced.
Acerion will secure one of the guest rooms for himself and will voice his desire to be present during Validar's debriefing. Until then, he busies himself with removing and cleaning his armor. He will don his robes and keep his axe nearby should for some reason the castle halls remain somewhat unsecure. He will also make sure his warhorse is properly tended to and try to get a small measure of food for himself.

Securing the Castle
Grondar:
Moving at an inhuman pace, Grondar quickly catches the lead runner. With one swing of his enchanted mace, he lays the man out. Skidding to a stop, Grondar returns to the man, sits on his back and begins to bind the man with his own belt and strips of cloth torn from his clothes.
Soon, the living among the runners are properly bound and their wounds tended to. Grondar sees that they are turned over to Lord Cavius' men, then returns to the rest of the group.
Grondar moves among his companions, focussing on those who still have wounds. He does what he can to treat them, converting any remaining spells to healing, and binding any that need it.
When the others return from the dungeons, Grondar notes that an attractive human woman is with them. A small smile crosses his face. Stepping forward, the stout dwarf introduces himself. "Hello, ma'am. I'm Grondar. I serve the Revered Mother, Berronar Truesilver. A pleasure to meet you." He will circulate among those released from the dungeons, giving words of encouragement and any other help that he can provide.
Once all has been resolved, Grondar will sack out after a few quick prayers. Come morning, he will take the time to give proper devotions and pray for Berronar's mystic gifts.

It seems the clerics will be rather busy with duties to the unfortunates that were unjustly confined in the dungeons. Any of you who wish to have a strategy debriefing on our attack can join me in one of the guest rooms."
"Either is fine with me. I'll sleep wherever there is room." Grondar is clearly tired after the long day. Still, there is much to be decided. "I would like to join the discussion, if I may, Validar."Kharyna wrote:"Sounds fine to me.

Kylie:
It appears she spoke too soon, as they are soon in pursuit of some who still bear the cult's influence.
Once the men are bound and turned over to the guards, Kylie joins the others in the trip down into the dungeons. The atmosphere is dank and oppressive, but she finds that it is not that much different from the slums of Elcadan. Just less room to move around. Of course, there's also less chance of being stabbed in the back in a chance encounter...
Kylie will take one of the guest rooms, if there are any still available. She will be spending many hours this night rebuilding her spell list, and it would be helpful if she were not interrupted. She cares little for the discussion of strategy, so will get started soon after joining Corley for dinner and a little conversation.
"Thank you, Lord Corley," Kylie replies. "In truth, I am glad to have it done with." She smiles. "I will have to thank Lara for the assistance she provided you."Corley wrote:"As do you, Lady Kylie," Lord Corley says as he spies her approaching. If he agrees Laucian will see to the man's wound.
Kylie giggles, watching Grondar struggle with the larger man beneath him. She moves to where she can cover Laucian's man with her bow. "Perhaps I can assist you, Laucian. It seems I am not so busy," she says with a smirk in Grondar's direction. "And I still have a few spells left, should any of them get too fiesty."Grondar wrote:Grondar looks up at the tall elf. Could you tell us more?"Upon hearing this, the Elf Maiden will arch her eyebrow in amazement. "I have never heard of such a magic item? What is this Spell Engine you speak of? What does it do?"
A small woman, showing some signs of elven or mixed heritage steps forward to greet Cavius' Guard Captain. "Nice to meet you, Gwenith. I am Kylie Lanthorn, formerly of Elcadan. How long have you served under Lord Cavius?"Cavius wrote:Turning to those Guardians with him, Cavius will say, "Please meet Gwenith Moonsong. calming down...
Sherra:
Only able to get off one good throw, Sherra is still pleased by the results.
She will accompany those that go down into the dungeons, however as there are quite a few going, Sherra will hang back a bit from the group and keep a careful eye so that nothing further assails them.
Once an opportunity to meet the recently freed Gwenith is available, Sherra will say, "Hello and well met. I am Sherra."
Sherra will plan on sleeping in one of the magical shelters and will let Validar know she wishes to be present during tonight's discussion. Otherwise she will see if she can find her horse and replenish her quiver of the arrows she had fired.

Blessed Tymora she thinks in her head as she continues to give chase. The other men however are quickly run down, so Sherra goes and retrieves her knife. She helps Grondar bind the man he felled if her dwarven friend needs assistance, otherwise she will stand guard until everyone is secured.Sherra throws a knife while she still has an open shot. The blade clips another of the men in the back of his right shoulder. He cries out in pain, but keeps on running.

Spell Engine
KHARYNA -
Seeing no need to take a room that one of the others may need to use Laucian will opt to sleep in the magical shelter if room is available. "May I bunk with your group again Kharyna?" he will ask.
"Certainly, Laucian. We will have room for everyone. No need for anyone to sleep out in the cold on on a floor somewhere."
Chareos says, "Kharyna, I to see no problem with the suggestion you have offered. As Validar has stated if it destroys it I am for it. Even if this Artifact drains it of its power it would be beneficial to us. If it does the later we could merely melt it down into nothing."
"That's quite a handy solution, Kharyna. And the foul energies of such a vile artifact won't cause any troubles to arise?" Grondar asks. "Hmm... Could we then dispose of the Staff wielded by the other corrupted priest in the same way?"
Lara adds, "It is a normal procedure for us when coming across malevolent magic items", Lara will add. "Chasreena's Spell Engine will drain the enchantments from both items and destroy them in the process. It is a quick and clean way to dispose of them."
Upon hearing this, the Elf Maiden, Lilia, will arch her eyebrow in amazement. "I have never heard of such a magic item? What is this Spell Engine you speak of? What does it do?"
Kharyna listens as various members of the group ask about the Spell Engine. "Lara is correct that the Spell Engine will destroy the items completely. It is a function of the artifact, which can be both advantageous and difficult as it requires magic items to power. When things that are unnecessary or unwanted are available, then it is easy. These two items will be welcomed in this process."
"There is no danger from an item such as this. Although perhaps an item that was infused with a living spirit that was evil may be a worry. I will have to ask on that in the future."
"To answer your question, Lilia, a Spell Engine is basically a powerful magickal artifact that has specific purposes, usually beyond the power of a 'normal' magic item. Some are more specific in their uses and some are more variable. To explain more would be to give away some secrets that I do not feel comfortable doing at this time unfortunately."
After dinner, Kharyna will form her Shelter for those that wish to quickly turn in. She is one of them and will secure her space and quickly fall asleep.

VALIDAR -
Once all the prisoners are freed, the clerics assist them, with Ivy at least spending many hours working her skills.
After dinner (or perhaps over it?) the group asks Lord Cavius what else he knows about the situation in the swamp, the guards and troops and traps there and the Lord of Corruption himself. Anything he may know will be helpful. Also we are assuming that Lord Cavius will deal with the men who we have secured as this is his domain and his rules and his will.
"By my count, we have one more guest room free for use, with Kylie and Acerion claiming ones for themselves. Laucian, Chareos, Corley, Acerion, Grondar and Sherra have all indicated they wish to join in on a talk about our recent strategy and the effectiveness of it. Please join me in the guest room at the end of the hall. And anyone else who wishes to join us is welcome."
Once in the room and everyone is seated, Validar will start with an open ended question: "I am curious first of all what each of think of our assault and what we could have done better."

Conquer or Die!
strategy recap..
Sherra:
"What I'm most curious about is what started all the commotion in the castle. Talia and I encountered no resistance or challenges, so I don't think we were ever spotted. Is there anyone who would be able to know what those guards WERE responding to?"
"Another thing that would have helped would have been a way to let others know we were in and proceeding as planned. I don't know if there is a spell or magical item we can try to acquire for the future should we need to attempt such an entry again."
Sherra will pause and think for a moment before continuing, "About the only other thing I can offer is that when everything did go down, Talia and I were way out of position to offer much help to everyone in the courtyard. I don't know how things progressed for everyone there except that we were victorious, so something must have gone right." Sherra will conclude with a smile.
"Well, unless I'm mistaken," Sherra will begin, "Talia and I were about the only ones who were able to get in before everything broke loose. I think her and I had the right combination of magical items that assisted us in that endeavor though."One in the room and everyone is seated, Validar will start with an open ended question: "I am curious first of all what each of think of our assault and what we could have done better."

GWENITH -
Gwenith turned around to face Ivy with a smile.
"Thank you so much for the offer and kindness but I am not wounded at the moment . Though I am famished and could use some food and water to regain my strength. I have only but had stale bread and water. I also could use a little rest, though I would like to come along and attend the debriefing on this situation."
Once we are done here, she turns to Lord Cavius, "My lord when I was imprisoned my armor and weapons were stripped of me. Would you know of their whereabouts? All I have is the clothes on my back at the moment. Also are my quarters still unoccupied my lord"?
Once she recovers her weapons and armor she will continue her services to Lord Cavius. Unless there is a need for her elsewhere.
"Why hello Validar. Nice to meet you. I can see from your breastplate that you are from Castle Pyris. The pleasure is all mine," Gwenith says with a smile. "What brings you out to these parts?", she asks as she walks toward Validar to the debriefing.

Laucian
Backing up a bit
As all the prisoners are freed and are gathered in the courtyard, Laucian will make his rounds with the other clerics. He will use his mundane healing skills for most of the patients he sees to, saving his remaining spells to be converted for the worst cases.
As the work progresses and more of the unfortunates are seen to and healed Laucian becomes aware of the fact he hasn't eaten and it begins to take its toll. As his mind becomes aware of the fact more and more the feeling of hunger begins to subside. He glances down at the ring entrusted to him by Sherwood and Validar. His thoughts are to thank them again for such a magic item.
Corley--
"Indeed, Laucian. A fine suggestion." Corley will look for Lord Cavius or Validar so as to find out what is to be done with these men.
"Thank you my friend."
Grondar--
Grondar looks up at the tall elf. "Got my hands full at the moment, my friend. I'll be glad to help you in a couple minutes, or perhaps Acerion or Lord Corley could give you a hand," he says, noting the others entering the room.
Kylie--
Kylie giggles, watching Grondar struggle with the larger man beneath him. She moves to where she can cover Laucian's man with her bow. "Perhaps I can assist you, Laucian. It seems I am not so busy," she says with a smirk in Grondar's direction. "And I still have a few spells left, should any of them get too fiesty."
He notes the form of Kylie move above him and covers his patient with her bow. "It is greatly appreciated." He chances a glance in Grondar's direction as Kylie makes her joke and a smile forms across his face. "Even if he were to escape, Grondar would be a match for him. To think a dwarf to outrun a human." He says it with an easy smile.
Validar-
Once in the room and everyone is seated, Validar will start with an open ended question: "I am curious first of all what each of think of our assault and what we could have done better."
The young elf looks to the others reading their faces and then speaks," I think we did very well given the task at hand. In hind site I only foresaw one potential danger. During the battle Grondar retreated toward the portcullis and was effectively cut off from the rest of us. Though he handled himself admirably the situation could have turned dire."
"I would like to say we were extremely effective in removing the spell casters from the field. Removing them from the field so quickly greatly added to our success."
After or before the meeting He will approach Lord Cavius and remind him that he wished to receive confession.
As the meeting comes to an end Laucian will head to the Shelters and make ready to go to bed. Before he does so he will do his daily prayers to Ehlonna.

Wager
Chareos
"There is no danger from an item such as this. Although perhaps an item that was infused with a living spirit that was evil may be a worry. I will have to ask on that in the future."
Chareos listens to the discussion of the brazier as well as this spell engine and replies, "What effect could an evil entity have on such a device? Would it merely disrupt its primary functions?", he asks curiously.
When the debriefing starts Chareos takes a seat at the table and waits for Validar to start the meeting. He doesn't wait long as Validar soon asks:
Once in the room and everyone is seated, Validar will start with an open ended question: "I am curious first of all what each of think of our assault and what we could have done better."
"All things considered I believe we did outstandingly well. Yet there were only two things I do not understand. Our left flank consisted of Lord Corley and Acerion from the start yet when the battle started Acerion moved to your side effectively leaving a hole in our lines that could have been exploited. I believe we were lucky in a sense that there were not more men to this flank...."
"The other thing that vexes me is when Lord Corley and I met these trolls in battle they fought with such ferociousness that I was struck and knocked from my feet. When I was regaining my feet there was a light and then the troll just vanished! How could this be?"
After the meeting Chareos will meet with Lord Cavius for a moment and ask his lordship, "My lord could you suggest a merchant that carries decent wine?"
After receiving the wine he approaches Swanny and whomever is interested, "It appears that I have lost our wager my friend and I am a man of my word." presenting the bottle. "Would you care for a drink?" he says with a smile.
He will then make ready his spell book for studying of his spells and try to have a good night's rest.

Acerion
Acerion:
Acerion is pleased to see so many of the companions gathered together when he arrives for the debriefing. It would have been nice to have seen everyone present, but he knows some of the healers and spellcasters have other, more pressing matters.
Validar opens the meeting by letting everyone voice their observations and questions. Acerion listens to Sherra, Laucian and Chareos as they are the first to speak. It is Chareos' questions that promp Acerion to speak next.
"I can address both your questions Chareos. First I broke off from the left flank at Validar's order. He called all lords to engage Lord Cavius. Naturally since Validar is our declared leader I heeded his call. I believed at the time Validar knew the tactical situation and had reason to summon some of us to aid in dealing with Lord Cavius."
"As for your second question, I believe that was a side effect of my action taken to free myself. One of the foul clerics had cast a hold spell of some sort upon me. I therefore had no choice but to dispel it as I could not be certain anyone else would aid me in such a dire fight as we were facing. The area of effect was such that it dispatched the summoned trolls on that flank. The ones within the dispel range of course."

Debriefing
VALIDAR -
Gwenith - "Why hello Validar. Nice to meet you. I can see from your breastplate that you are from Castle Pyris. The pleasure is all mine," Gwenith says with a smile. "What brings you out to these parts?", she asks as she walks toward Validar to the debriefing.
"I am pleased that we could prove helpful in this land, Captain. My father is indeed the Baron of Pyris and he and your Lord used to be good friends. Rennydale and Pyris are still good allies, now that this matter is behind us, as you well know. Now that Rennydale has been freed from the corruption that tainted its leaders, we will take the fight directly to the Lord of Corruption and the vile swamp that spawned this evil. We will be leaving soon to strike at the heart of this evil and eradicate it once and for all."
At the debriefing session, Validar asks for comments on the attack and what we could have done better or differently. Sherra is the first to speak up.
"What I'm most curious about is what started all the commotion in the castle. Talia and I encountered no resistance or challenges, so I don't think we were ever spotted. Is there anyone who would be able to know what those guards WERE responding to?"
"Only the two of you and Kylie were able to enter the castle. So if they did not respond to you and Talia, then either Kylie or our presence resulted in the alarm being sounded," Validar will diplomatically state.
"Another thing that would have helped would have been a way to let others know we were in and proceeding as planned. I don't know if there is a spell or magical item we can try to acquire for the future should we need to attempt such an entry again."
"That is an interesting thought and one that would help tremedously in the future if we could resolve it. I firmly believe in multiple pronged attacks and coordinating them can be difficult at best at times."
"We were indeed victorious. Some of that is due to the fact that Cavius let us into the castle as part of a trap. Fortunately that worked to our advantage. Otherwise we would have been forced to fight our way in, not knowing whether any of the scouts had been in trouble."
Laucian is the next to off his comments.
"Eliminating or negating the enemy spellcasters is an important part of combat in my opinion. You can neither be too careful nor too light-handed in dealing with them, especially clerics of the evil deities," Validar will saw matter-of-factly. "I believe in ranking the necessary objectives according to importance and threat. Therefore you have three levels of threats or objectives in any battle: those that are required to defeat to win the conflict, those that are dangerous and serious threats and the remainder of the enemy."
"In this battle, I would rank Cavius as the only Level 1 threat. His defeat was paramount to the battle and no one was as serious a threat as him. Level 2 threats would be the priests as they were in hiding and able to strike with some degree of safety or surprise. Fortunately, we were effective in eliminating most of them quickly. Everything else, including the trolls, were not important combatants and to be given the least attention. I am not saying that there was not danger present from the soldiers or the trolls. Simply they were not a major part of the battle."
"Personally, I feel our dwarven comrade could have easily handled the dozen or so soldiers that swarmed from the gatehouse on his own. Perhaps not easily, but I am confident he would not have fallen to their weapons, even had he battled them all. Therefore I would disagree that this is a potential danger point. This is an example of properly categorizing the threat levels, in my opinion."
"We did do well, considering that as a group we have had only a handful of conflicts together. We will get better as everyone knows what to expect from our leadership and from all of each other. In truth however, there were a few instances where we were not the most efficient. I am certain that will get better with experience."
Chareos is the next to speak up. "All things considered I believe we did outstandingly well. Yet there were only two things I do not understand. Our left flank consisted of Lord Corley and Acerion from the start yet when the battle started Acerion moved to your side effectively leaving a hole in our lines that could have been exploited. "I saw the after effects of your power, Lord Acerion. It was an impressive showing and came at a very opportune moment. I dare say that was the moment that the battle was decided. It was moving in our favor slowly and the scales tipped at the point. Well done."
"As for the tactical situation, as I mentioned before the trolls were merely a level 3 threat while Lord Cavius was the true focus of the attack. Defeating Cavius would have left us perhaps with some clean up of the trolls and soldiers, but defeating the trolls and soldiers first may have left Lord Cavius himself too strong for any of us to take in the end. Battles are usually won long before the final sword strike falls."
"My thinking is that calling Acerion away would necessitate Chareos and perhaps even Lara and Kharyna to stand their ground in combat. You did well, Chareos. Had Lord Corley not gone to make contact with the trolls and instead gone for Cavius, then perhaps we could have dealt with the trolls on our left much like we did on the right. Kharyna has used a Wall of Fire before, that would have been effective, but was unuseable with our fighters in hand to hand combat. In any case, the left flank held its own and each of you did well. Next time we may be better at the assignment of targets and the splitting of our actions."
"What do any of the rest of you say? Comments on my opinions?"
Gwenith - "Why hello Validar. Nice to meet you. I can see from your breastplate that you are from Castle Pyris. The pleasure is all mine," Gwenith says with a smile. "What brings you out to these parts?", she asks as she walks toward Validar to the debriefing.
