Morning comes and the Guardians continue their trek along the Streel Highway, heading north towards Rennydale. The weather is much cheerier than it was the day before. Only a few puffy white clouds can be seen in the otherwise clear sky. The sun is shining and made only brighter by the remaining traces of snow. It is much warmer than the day before, the temperature nearly back to normal. The snow is rapidly melting in the sunlight.
After finishing up preparations and casting Mount spells to begin the journey, Sherwood will speak to the group before moving out.
"We are only a few hours away from Ansimont and I thought I would give you some idea what to expect once we arrive. Ansimont is nothing like Elcadan. It is a city of mostly farmers and weavers. Farmland surrounds the city in all directions for many miles."
"As for the city itself, it is dotted with grain silos, textile factories and mills that produce flour and grain meals. These are simple, hard working folks we shall be mingling with. When they unwind at night, they can get rowdy."
"Some of you may have heard of the Ansimont Forge before. For those who haven't it is the largest forge here in Cynalon and it is of dwarven construction. The forge is powered by a waterwheel in the Streel River and renowned for purity of ore it can churn out for manufacturing."
"There is one last thing I should note to you all. Mages are not particularly welcomed in Ansimont. It all goes back to a drunken spellcaster who nearly burned the town down twenty winters back by carelessly casting Fireballs on a dare. So my advice is to curb all open spellcasting while in town."
"Let's move out."
The ride to Ansimont is pleasant and passes quickly. With the whiteout conditions gone, you can see that you are riding along the Streel Highway through a large plains area. At times you can see the Streel River flowing off to your left hand side.
Within the hour, the riders hit the first of the outlying farms. The farmland extends for as long as the eye can see.
By the time the sun is high in the sky, you can see the tallest of the grain silos of Ansimont on the horizon. The rest of the city quickly comes into view.
Size wise, Ansimont is about twice as large as Pyris. Unlike Elcadan, the city has a more open feel to it. The streets are wide to allow easy passage. The main streets are paved with stones while the others are simply dirt covered.
The largest building in town is the Ansimont Forge, coming in at four stories high. It is a stone building on the edge of the shore. Its large waterwheel, nearly as high as the building itself, is slowing turning. The smell of ore being melted is nearly overpowering.
The rest of the shoreline is taken up by docks and warehouses. River barges can be seen, along with local fishing boats.
Sherwood leads the way into town and you ride up to a place called the Amber Waves Inn. He secures rooms for the night. With such a large group, it will be necessary to double up for the night.

GM Notes
GM Notes:
Welcome to Ansimont!
A section near the Ansimont Forge is referred to by the locals as "Dwarf Town", due to the large number of dwarves that dwell there.
Sherwood informs the priests of the temples in Ansimont. There is a temple to Moradin, the father-deity of dwarves in Dwarf Town. Among the humans there are temples to Helm (Protection), Chuantea (Agriculture), and Azrella.
Here is a list of the magical equipment possessed by Lyonessa's former companions:
Erin: (Female Halfing) Shortsword, sling, ring, cloak, and halfling sized leather armor. She also had 145 gp total in coins on her.
Andrew: (Male Human) Chain mail, shield, broadsword, & 470 gp.
Reginald: (Male Human) Throwing Axe, cloak, chain mail, shield, & 540 gp.
Kekond: (Female Human) Large Shield, chain mail, morning star & 45 gp.
Kax: (Male Dwarf) Dwarven Plate, shield, warhammer, & gauntlets. 297 gp.
The group had the following potions: 2 Potions of Extra-Healing, 1 Potion of Flying, & 1 Potion of Water Breathing
Kax's armor and shield are emblazed with the holy symbol of Moradin, the hammer and anvil.
Now what?
Assuming the clerics cast healing spells in the morning, everyone is back to maximum hit points.

A break in Ansimont
Validar -
The next morning finds Lyonessa helping prepare the bodies for travel to their final resting place. Any items she found yesterday will be stored in her saddlebags and spoken about with this group regarding disposition once the tasks at Ansimont are achieved.
Validar will suggest using the located gold on the fallen people for their internment and any other necessary expenses. Of course, this is entirely up to Lyonessa and her ideas of the dispersement of magick and money.
The trek to Ansimont is easy and the sun in the sky is welcomed. Validar will take up his customary position at the rear of the procession in order to watch and protect the group ahead of him. The rangers are better suited to leading and in this instance, his noble bearing does not require him to be at the head of the column as these are his friends, not merely troops.
Unless specifically asked, Validar will not participate in the internment process for the fallen people. Instead he has some other important duty to attend to. Later in the evening, when Validar returns to the Amber Waves Inn, he will search out Lord Corley and present him with a gift, purchased here in Ansimont: a new warhorse. "He may not be Charger, but this is a fine, spirited mount. He will serve you well."

"It is what I was thinking. Thank you for the suggestion Lord Validar." The ride and nicer weather is very pleasant. If only everyone could have made it Arriving in Ansimont it is entirely different than Kingsport. Very peaceful and calming when compared to the cramped port city. a good place to retire to, but my adventures have only just begun it seems
Listening to Sherwood, Lyonessa is not sure where the best temple to intern the bodies would be. She thinks perhaps the followers of either Azrella or Helm would be the best to speak to. Lyonessa will approach Ivy on the subject. She knows Kekond was a priestess of Pholtus, but does not know if any of the others worshipped or believed, and would prefer the best neutral internment possible.
Lyonessa will ask Grondar to accompany her to take Kax to Moradin's temple. She does not remove the armor or shield from Kax's body as she feels it needs to be returned with him to the temple.
Again it is a somber day. Upon returning to the Amber Waves Inn, she will await a time when Sherwood and Validar are together and approach. "I am unaware of the properties of most of the magical items that my old group possessed. Most of the items I will not be able to use myself. Maybe together we can identify everything and make a decision based on what is discovered. I will have no need for all of these items no matter the case and I feel the remaining should be divided among everyone or sold for mutual benefit."
Lyonessa will seek out the inn keeper in the evening hours, asking if there is any interest in her performing for the local patrons. She will display her singing ability if there is question about such. If agreed, she will finish off her ballad she was composing and present it in the evening to the patrons and whomever within the group might be in attendance, using her lute to accompany the tale.

Lilia
Lilia:
The trip to the next human town is much more pleasant than the previous day. The Elf Maiden will ride near Lara, Chareos, and Kharyna so as to engage in conversation about things magical.
Ansimont isn't all that remarkable to Lilia. Another human city, how exciting. After hearing how they are intolerant of mages, Lilia decides to spend the day indoors either reading or in conversation with the others. No point going out and running into any low intelligence types.
After hearing the discussion about the disbursement of the magic items belonging to Lyonessa's former companions, Lilia will speak up.
"With your permission, I can attempt to divine the functions of these items with my own talents. Those I cannot divine can be the subject of Identify spells by the mages come the morning. Is this agreeable?"
If it is, Lilia will begin her task of identifying the items.

Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!
Ivy
Ivy:
Ivy happily continues her conversation with Acerion after assisting Kylie with dinner and the clean up afterwards. Late that night, she retires for the evening and sleep claims her easily.
The trip to Ansimont passes quickly. Ivy herself hasn't passed this way before, but she is aware that there is a Temple to Azrella here along with the more popular locally gods. Mainly Chauntea and Helm. Word has it that the Temple is a smaller one as Azrella's good works are not as desperately needed in Ansimont as in Elcadan.
Riding into town, Ivy can see that these are industrious people not afraid of manual labor. This city doesn't have the stench or the oppressiveness of Elcadan to it.
Arriving at the Amber Waves Inn, Ivy will store her gear in her room before carrying on with the other tasks at hand.
Ivy assists in escorting the bodies to the Azrella Temple, and will speak to those on hand about how to deal with this unusual situation.
This is more Grondar's area of expertise, so Ivy will defer to him in these matters.
After dealing those unpleasant tasks, Ivy will explore the shops in search of some new clothing. The simple dress she wears while on the road has seen better days and she desires a new one. Nothing fancy, a plain blue dress would suffice.
Later, she'll relax in the common room of the inn and enjoy dinner. She will listen to Lyonessa perform as well, before retiring for the evening.
"I fear that only the gods themselves understand their reasons and motivations. Such things are not meant for we mere mortals to know."Acerion will be surprised that Ivy seemed to know it was him, but her words warm him. "I am glad you were not injured too severely either. Indeed it does seem senseless with all the deaths that occurred today, but who can say what drives higher powers to do what they do. At times though, they seem to possess the best and worst of mortal emotions. At least take comfort in the knowledge that we stopped the loss of additional lives, fair Ivy. The few steeds that were lost in the final battle were an unfortunate circumstance, but the toll rose no higher thanks to everyone working together to quickly vanquish our foes."

"The Azrella Temple is ideal for our needs, Lyonessa. Azrella represents the cycle of life, from birth until death, so we are well suited for this grim task. I am not aware of any temples to Pholtus in this area. Many find their priests far too rigid for comfort. Perhaps those at the temple will know who to contact as to properly inter those who have passed on?"Listening to Sherwood, Lyonessa is not sure where the best temple to intern the bodies would be. Ivy will go along on this journey as well. "I have to agree. Kax's armor and shield are dedicated to his god. It would be wrong to separate him from them. Furthermore all of his equipment should be returned to his temple, or his family if he has one here in Ansimont."Lyonessa will ask Grondar to accompany her to take Kax to Moradin's temple. She does not remove the armor or shield from Kax's body as she feels it needs to be returned with him to the temple.

Sherwood
Sherwood:
After reaching Ansimont, Sherwood will speak to Validar for a few moments.
"I am going to be temporarily departing", the Ranger/Mage will say. "Some minor business is all. Checking up on contacts and see how others are fairing. Tomorrow morning, continue on the trek north along the Streel Highway. By days end you'll reach Favaro. Seek lodging at the Far Fields Inn and I will join you the following morning. Then we can begin the final leg to Rennydale. It lies about a day and half's ride from Favaro."
Unless there are any questions, Sherwood will duck into one of the rented rooms and teleport away.

I do what is necessary.
VALIDAR -
Once Sherwood procures rooms for the large group, Sherwood asks Validar aside, as the others head to their rooms. As there are 18 of them, we still require nine rooms just to double up.

Validar will nod at the news. "Very well, Lord Sherwood. May you have a safe journey. I have travelled this road in the past, though not for some time. We shall meet you two days hence." Validar watches as Sherwood steps into one of the as yet unclaimed rooms and pulls the door closed.
Validar will settle into one of the rooms, removing his armor and storing it. He will wear his sword belt as is customary and a white military outfit. There is no rank insignia, rather it is replaced by his coat of arms, an ebon griffon on a field of blue and silver.
Once everyone is on their way, Validar will ask Po if the lad wishes to accompany him on his mount inspection excursion. As the clerics taking care of the internment process go about their business and the others find ways to amuse themselves, Validar will head for the most upscale area of Ansimont and inspect the warhorses that are available. He will select the one with the best physical qualities, while instructing Po on what he is looking for regarding size, musculature, height, and spirit of the animal.
Shortly after Validar returns and the fallen adventurers have been laid to rest, Lyonessa comes looking for Validar and Sherwood.
"Sherwood has some personal business to attend to and has departed from us to complete it, Lyonessa of Mystra. He will meet up with us again in Favaro two days from now."
"Your offer is a kind one and we shall endeavor to honor your wishes. On behalf of the Guardians of the Light, I accept your offer. We can always use additional equipment of a useful nature and I am certain that many of the group would welcome an extra disbursal of treasure."
"A wise course of actions, Lilia of Grunalf. Perhaps you can organize the effort to identify the items with the other mages' assistance. Sherwood will not be available for such a project, as he has his own tasks to attend to currently. Once we have identified the items, then it can be decided on how to parcel them out. "
Later Validar will take a meal in the Inn, sharing it with whomever else is around as well at the time. Lyonessa sings a ballad to her fallen comrades that evening as well as to the Guardians of Light. "It seems Lord Corley that the bards have begun to sing our praises as you foretold," Lord Validar says with a knowing smile. They had joked about Corley's exhuberance before leaving on this mission. "To many more glorious battles such as that," Validar will say, standing up and raising his cup in a toast to his friends.

Miscellaneous
Kharyna -
After the Battle, with Talia -
"I will endeavor to do better, Kharyna. I promise you." The tall, dark-haired thief will gratefully hug Kharyna.
"I am sure you will, Talia." Kharyna returns the surprising hug. "Now lets forget about this and get ourselves out of this place."
At the cabin on the way to Ansimont -
Sherra joins their group in the cabin, spending the evening speaking with Talia. It is good to see that Talia has someone to talk with as she has been rather reserved, even with Kharyna's small band.
Lilia - "Your interests lie along my own personal motivations, Kharyna of Neverwinter. The acquisition of new spells, enchanted items, and knowledge. If that is considered to be mercenary, then I too am one."
"Well, then you are in good and not-so-good company," Kharyna says with a laugh. "I suppose I felt used by the Cold One and set out to make an easy life for myself and try to fulfill my personal desires. It is rather shallow I admit, but has been fun."
Lilia will tell her story and then,
After a pause, Lilia will add, "Perhaps after completing this current mission, you would let me accompany on your task to cleanse the Towers of Gaz. I would be most grateful and find it a most fascinating task."
"I am certain we will return to the Towers of Gaz at some point soon. I am entrusted with the duty by Mystra herself. As it appears that you have been also gifted by Mystra, perhaps we can work together. Our group is rather laid back and not so serious as some. And we strive for comfort and convenience whenever possible as well."
"That's our Swanny. Always on the look-out for a good time. Some day when you least expect it, someone's going to make an honest woman out of you yet," Kharyna says with a playful laugh.
"What a horrible thing to say," Swanny will retort in mock shock.
"Perhaps, but no less truthful," Kharyna will continue with a giggle.
The rest of the eveing is spent in various conversations between the group as they relax near Laucian's fire, before finally retiring for the night.
In Ansimont -
Kharyna is not thrilled to hear about the situation with mages there. She will show her 'clerical side' then while out in the city, should this be necessary.
When Lilia approaches her about the project of identifying the mage spells, Kharyna will assist. "Thanks to Mystra's gifts I can take an Identify spell as a direct gift rather than memorize it and save that for other spells. Who else is assisting in this project and how many spells do you need from me? I could take as many as nine Identify spells in total, but would prefer to keep other spells in memory as necessary."
Kharyna has an Identify spell in memory now. "I can cast a spell now in fact, as I have one prepared. Might as well use it tonight and not waste a slot in the morning."

Might as well use it tonight and not waste a slot in the morning."
a nice day..
Sherra:
The easy ride and nice day make it a pleasant change from recent events. Sherra finds it easy to slip into a comfortable mood even though she keeps a watchful eye during the ride. Upon arriving in Ansimont and seeing the building in which the forge is housed, she finds her interest peaked.
After helping with the horses and any other minor tasks, Sherra heads out and explores Ansimont, eventually weaving her way to the forge. She will strive to use only her newly acquired skill in the dwarven tongue once in the vicinity, not to show off, but hopefully to gain conversational skill and also show respect to the Dwarven folk. She will inquire what she can about the forge, and if possible, try to gain access to see it.
The only other thing Sherra wishes to do during the day is see about purchasing a decent short sword. She will keep it with her stored gear in the saddle bags for now, but with intention to learn to wield it as time allows. She will join the others to hear Lyonessa's performance in the evening and buy a round of drinks for everyone from the group that is present.

GM Notes:
GM Notes:
Lyonessa Performance:
Azrella Temple:
Most of Lyonessa's fallen companions are taken to the local Temple of Azrella. Ivy speaks to High Priestess of the Temple, Ireisal and explains what has transpired. They take the bodies in and will see to their interment.
Temple of Moradin:
Those bearing Kax's body take him into the Dwarf Town area. The change in construction styles is immediately noted, as everything is built to dwarven height. All the buildings are constructed of stone and appear perfectly straight and even. Numerous blacksmith shops are spotted, along with a few pubs. Grondar would estimate that around 150 to 200 dwarves live in this area. Dwarf Town is like a small village within the larger town complete with its own shops and businesses.
The Temple to Moradin is noted and the riders approach. A young dwarf who is sweeping the front steps to the temple spots the riders approaching. After realizing who they are bearing, he drops his broom and rushes inside.
A few moments later, the door to the temple flings open and several dwarves emerge. The first of them is a female dwarf in the traditional garb of a Priestess of Berronar. She calls out in a frantic voice in dwarvish, "What happened to Kax?"
Shopping:
Ivy finds a suitable dress for herself.
Magic Items:
Lilia attempts to use her skill at Identifying magic items on the equipment gained from Lyonessa's companions. She is able to ascertain the magical traits of 4 of the 16 items available. (Discounting all of Kax's equipment at the moment.) They are: Shortsword +1, Ring of Chameleon Power, Halfling sized Leather Armor +1, and Chain Mail +2.
The rest of the gear is Identified by way of spell by Kharyna and Lilia. Here's the complete list (claimed items in italics):
Weapons:
Broadsword +1
Morning Star +1
Shortsword +1
Sling +1
Throwing Axe +1
Armor:
Halfling Size Leather +1
Chain Mail +2
Chain Mail +1
Chain Mail +1
2 Shields +1
Large Shield +1, +4 vs Missiles
Misc:
Ring of Chameleon Power
Cloak of Arachnida
Cloak of Elvenkind
Sherra in Dwarftown:
Sherra finds that she has some grasp of dwarvish from her sessions with Grondar, but isn't quite fluent in conversation just yet. She can understand enough to allow basic conversations, perhaps less than half of the words she hears she knows.
The forge itself is well guarded by armored dwarves. (Smelting down valuable ores does demand security.) Tours of the forge are not permitted, but some idea of how it was constructed can be gleamed.
A basic shortsword can be purchased for 12 gp's.
Arocken:
Arocken will say that he would be interested in the Chain +2, as he currently employes non-magical chain mail. The shortsword or broadsword will also be welcomed as he also has non-magical versions of both.
FYI:
I'm not going to be available much for the next 2 weeks or so, so if several days past without any posting from me, don't be concerned.
Lyonessa Performance:
While the innkeeper has not heard of Lyonessa before, he has heard of her father, the minstrel Elkadar. So, he is agreeable to allow the bard to perform this evening for free room and board.Lyonessa will seek out the inn keeper in the evening hours, asking if there is any interest in her performing for the local patrons. She will display her singing ability if there is question about such. If agreed, she will finish off her ballad she was composing and present it in the evening to the patrons and whomever within the group might be in attendance, using her lute to accompany the tale.

Ivy finds a suitable dress for herself.
Po will go along and try to absorb what Validar is trying to teach him. After much searching, a fine warhorse is located. It will run Validar 700 gp's to purchase.Once everyone is on their way, Validar will ask Po if the lad wishes to accompany him on his mount inspection excursion.

Lilia:
Cabin:
Magic Items:
Gathering up the magic items, Lilia will take them to her room to begin the examination process.
Kharyna:
After IDing:
Lilia will consider what is available after the items have been identified. Not much here in the way of mage related gear. The elfin cloak is the most desirable item and Lilia will claim that. The rest of the items she will turn over to Validar for disbursement to the others.
Otherwise, Lilia will stay around Lara and Kharyna if they are amicable for more discussions of things magical.
Cabin:
"It is good to find others with interests close to my own. Something that has been somewhat lacking with my current companions.""Well, then you are in good and not-so-good company," Kharyna says with a laugh. "I suppose I felt used by the Cold One and set out to make an easy life for myself and try to fulfill my personal desires. It is rather shallow I admit, but has been fun."
"It does sound like an agreeable arrangement to me. I look forward to our future association." Glancing a look at the one called Talia, Lilia will quickly add, "I should also add that I have been fully trained for armed combat and am most proficient with the short bow.""I am certain we will return to the Towers of Gaz at some point soon. I am entrusted with the duty by Mystra herself. As it appears that you have been also gifted by Mystra, perhaps we can work together. Our group is rather laid back and not so serious as some. And we strive for comfort and convenience whenever possible as well."
Magic Items:
"Of course", Lilia will say with a nod. "I shall begin immediately. And as per Sherwood's earlier statement, I claim the right of the first selection.""A wise course of actions, Lilia of Grunalf. Perhaps you can organize the effort to identify the items with the other mages' assistance. Sherwood will not be available for such a project, as he has his own tasks to attend to currently. Once we have identified the items, then it can be decided on how to parcel them out. "
Gathering up the magic items, Lilia will take them to her room to begin the examination process.
Kharyna:
"A most useful gift," Lilia will agree. "Between you and I, the others probably won't be needed for this task, Kharyna of Neverwinter. However, should one of the others agree to assist, I would welcome their support. It appears that we only have 11 items to Identify. I can do as many as 5 with one Identify spell. You may be able to do the rest with a single casting."When Lilia approaches her about the project of identifying the mage spells, Kharyna will assist.

Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!
Lord Corley
Corley:
Validar:
The next day's travel passes harmlessly enough. Lord Corley rides upon the steed magically created by Sherwood, but it is not the same as Charger. Corley is unusually quiet during the ride and is glad to reach civilization once more.
He has never been to Ansimont before or much of this area of the Streel Plain. Much of it is open plains and holds the largest agricultual area in the kingdom.
Once arriving in Ansimont, Corley will help the others take the bodies to the Azrella Temple, but feels a bit out of place as far as going into Dwarf Town is concerned.
After clasping hands, Corley will inspect the mount and find him to be of high quality. "I am impressed that you were able to find such a quality mount here. Yes, he is both fine and spirited. I shall name him Destrier."
Corley will spend most of the afternoon becoming acquainted with Destrier, allowing the warhorse to become familiar with to him. He'll brush the mount down and then take him for a small ride outside of town to test his training after fitting his new mount with riding gear.
Later in the common room, Corley is a bit more upbeat as he eats his dinner, listening to Lyonessa's ballad of fallen friends.
"A most moving ballad, Lady Lyonessa", Corley will say. "A fitting tribute to those no longer with us. I thank you for sharing it with us."
On the subject of magic items, Corley will say: "There is nothing really there that sparks my interest. I am trained to use the broadsword, that would be a welcomed second weapon should no one else need it."
Validar:
"Now you sound like my father," Corley will note. "Wise words, nonetheless.""We live a violent life, my friend. Many of us will die in battle. There are many reasons why the actions that happened went the way they did."

Lord Corley will look upon Lord Validar's gift in surprise and gratitude. "I-- I don't know what to say, Lord Validar. I am deeply touched by your generosity, my friend."Unless specifically asked, Validar will not participate in the internment process for the fallen people.

"Aye, my friend, that is something worth drinking to!""It seems Lord Corley that the bards have begun to sing our praises as you foretold," Lord Validar says with a knowing smile. They had joked about Corley's exuberance before leaving on this mission. "To many more glorious battles such as that," Validar will say, standing up and raising his cup in a toast to his friends.
On the subject of magic items, Corley will say: "There is nothing really there that sparks my interest. I am trained to use the broadsword, that would be a welcomed second weapon should no one else need it."

Ivy
Ivy:
Ivy will listen as the magical gear of the former adventurers is identified.
"I fear that I cannot make use of most of the items here. The ring and the remaining cloak are about it and it seems to be that both of those items would be better served in the hands of the scouts. I shall pass in this particular instance."
Ivy will pray for her standard spell set before leaving Ansimont.

For the glory of the Blue Lady!
Swanny cuts a rug!
Swanny:
Swanny is happy that the next leg of the trip passes quickly. However, Ansimont doesn't seem all that lively of a place.
"Wow, seems rather dull for such a large city. Oh well, I'll just have to make my own excitement."
Alas, excitement does seem hard to come by in this town. If Talia is not doing anything, Swanny will ask for her to continue their painting session. If not, then Swanny will try to find another volunteer. If no one is available, then she'll just do some landscape scenes.
That evening, Swanny will join the others for dinner and to listen to Lyonessa's performance. "Very nice, Lyonessa! Do you know any more upbeat tunes? Something one can dance to?"
If the bard does, Swanny will hit the dance floor and begin to move about, urging her friends to join her. (Swanny is skilled at dancing.)
Magic items: Swanny will pass on the magic items available. Her current equipment is equal to or better.

Lara
Lara:
Lara will curl up on one of the beds in Kharyna's cabin and participate in the discussion of things magical.
"Yeah, Kharyna has a lot of desirable magic items", Lara will agree. "But then again, we all have been adventuring heavily as of late. While not as impressive, both Swanny and I have quite a bit of magical gear."
"My most impressive item would have to be one that it not even magical. I came upon a suit of elfin chain mail and am wearing it even now."
Lara will lift her blouse slightly to show the fine chain mail covering her torso.
"It is a prized item for we elves, as it is as light as normal clothing, but protects as well as chain mail armor. It is so light and flexible so as to not hinder spell casting."
Lara isn't surprised when Lilia asks to join up with Kharyna. The goals of our own little band do seem to mirror her own. Lara isn't sure if she's really needed or not, but another fighter and bow person couldn't hurt either.
After a time, Lara will excuse herself from the magic conversation. Magic is a wonderful and interesting thing, but it does not consume this elf like it does Lilia. Instead, she will strike up a conversation with Laucian. It's been awhile since she's been around a male elf and would like to know more about him.
Lara will hang out at the Inn once in Ansimont, doing her usual reading during down times. She is casually interested in the collection of magic items, but nothing catches her fancy. "I'll pass, thanks."
That evening, Lara listens to Lyonessa's haunting ballad. The bard does have talent and her elfin heritage does show up in it.
When Swanny urges everyone to dance, Lara will happily join in, in hopes that a handsome man or two will join them. (Lara is also skilled in dancing. We elves do love to frolic!)
Lara will swap her Cantrip spell for an Identify. Otherwise, use the standard spell list.

Talia
Talia:
The dark haired thief mostly keeps to herself in Ansimont and will pose more for Swanny. When the magic items become available, Talia will consider what is there.
"Actually, there are few things I could use for myself. The shortsword would be desirable, as mine is not enchanted. The Cloak of Arcahnida would be my first choice, then the Ring of Chameleon power. Those are the only three I could make use of."
Probably to the surprise of the others, Talia will join Swanny and Lara out on the floor. She too is a skilled dancer, although she's not really looking for a partner right now.

Acerion
Acerion:
Validar is likely asleep if the hour is too late when Acerion comes by, but in the morning the noble warrior will confirm their plans. "We are travelling to Ansimont, which was already on our desired path, to assist in the internment of Lyonessa's fallen comrades. As Grondar has some personal business to attend to, as well as needing to replace our fallen mounts, we will stay in Ansimont until the following morning. We can replenish supplies there and stay in a decent inn for the night. Anyone who has personal business they wish to attend to should have time to complete it."
"Good enough. A night at a good inn and peaceful surroundings will do us all well," Acerion will reply.
The ride does indeed go peacefully, of which Acerion is glad for the entire group, especially Ivy and Lyonessa who seemed the hardest hit with the tragic situation. Upon reaching Ansimont, Acerion watches as most of the group disappears to do various tasks or take in the local flavor. Since he has no real business and the appropriate temple is not present, Acerion passes most of the day out of his armor and in meditation. Later on he will begin practicing with his swords, a bastard sword and a scimitar, in the two weapon style. Rarely does he use the swords, but he realizes the importance of keeping in practice.
Upon Lord Corley's receiving of his new warhorse, Acerion will comment, "Looks like a fine steed indeed." He will tend to his warhorse as well, inspecting the hooves, brushing and general care for his trusted companion.
Acerion will pass on the magical item selection. There is nothing he is in dire need of and would rather it go to those who stand to benefit from such items.
Later in the evening, Acerion will join the others for dinner and rounds of drinks while listening to Lyonessa's performance. He will pay close attention to her words and really note the feeling and impact of them. Once several of the others get up to dance when Lyonessa starts a more merry tune per request, he will playfully look over at Ivy to see her reaction at the prospect of dancing, knowing full well he stands a good chance of making a fool of himself since he lacks in any real skill.

Corley entranced
Corley:
Lord Corley is rather surprised when the fair Aswansea begins to dance by herself. The young noble can't help but admire her most flattering figure. Then both Lara & Talia join her! What an unusual and tantalizing group of adventurers the fair Kharyna runs! Corley finds himself entranced by them…

We fight for King and Country!
Ivy
Ivy:
"What a free spirit", Ivy thinks to herself. "Seemingly not having a care in the world. How admirable."
Ivy is even more surprised when Acerion gives her that look. "I really don't know how…", Ivy stammers out. This not exactly something she learned in priestess training! Still the idea of being close to the Paladin of Heironeous does have its appeal. "Well why not? Others are letting loose, so why hold back?"
Rising, Ivy will join Acerion on the dance floor without having much of a clue as what to do. She'll watch the others (Swanny, Lara, & Talia) for some ideas, but what she finds a bit to embarrassing to duplicate!
Ivy is surprised when Swanny asks for dancing music and begins to move about the floor.Later in the evening, Acerion will join the others for dinner and rounds of drinks while listening to Lyonessa's performance.
"What a free spirit", Ivy thinks to herself. "Seemingly not having a care in the world. How admirable."

Lyonessa:
with Lilia:
After hearing the discussion about the disbursement of the magic items belonging to Lyonessa's former companions, Lilia will speak up.
"With your permission, I can attempt to divine the functions of these items with my own talents. Those I cannot divine can be the subject of Identify spells by the mages come the morning. Is this agreeable?"
"It is agreeable Lilia. Thank you for your help in this matter," says Lyonessa.
Ivy and the temples:
"The Azrella Temple is ideal for our needs, Lyonessa. Azrella represents the cycle of life, from birth until death, so we are well suited for this grim task. I am not aware of any temples to Pholtus in this area. Many find their priests far too rigid for comfort. Perhaps those at the temple will know who to contact as to properly inter those who have passed on?"
Ivy assists in escorting the bodies to the Azrella Temple, and will speak to those on hand about how to deal with this unusual situation.
"Thank you kindly for your assistance this day Ivy. The burden has been made easier with you to help lighten its load. I feel that many of my past group would be satisfied at this decision," Lyonessa will remark, truly thankful the priestess of Azrella is with her on this grim task.
Ivy will go along on this journey as well. "I have to agree. Kax's armor and shield are dedicated to his god. It would be wrong to separate him from them. Furthermore all of his equipment should be returned to his temple, or his family if he has one here in Ansimont."
This is more Grondar's area of expertise, so Ivy will defer to him in these matters.
"It is what I believed to be right. I feel bad enough having to divide up the others items that I could not allow it to happen with Kax's." Lyonessa will also allow Grondar to lead the way in this matter, inputting when neccessary.
The language is foriegn to Lyonessa and so must turn to Grondar. She will offer in the human tongue to the Priestess of Berronar, "I am Lyonessa, songstress of the Lady of Mysteries. I was one of the members in the band that Kax adventured with. I was present when Kax fell in combat, giving his life to protect mine and the others," Lyonessa says somberly. "I have chronicled his deeds since the day I joined and I feel, if it is my place, that he indeed should be honored as a fallen hero would." Lyonessa does not wish to be disrespectful, but if pressed, she will indeed tell the tale of Kax, picking up at the point where she joined their group. Wishing to have more to offer this Priestess of Berronar, she only hopes it is enough.
the Amber Waves Inn:
While the innkeeper has not heard of Lyonessa before, he has heard of her father, the minstrel Elkadar. So, he is agreeable to allow the bard to perform this evening for free room and board.
thank you Father for your skill and renown. saved me getting the door in my face. a humble beginning indeed, but at least I am making my way. no coin from Validar's generous pockets need be spent on me this eve Lyonessa will set up, clearing her mind from the grim day so she may entertain her new companions and the other inn patrons this night. Her ballad seems well received, given the tone of the tale, no matter how glorious its ending reveals itself to be.
That evening, Swanny will join the others for dinner and to listen to Lyonessa's performance. "Very nice, Lyonessa! Do you know any more upbeat tunes? Something one can dance to?"
"Indeed so, Swanny." Lyonessa breaks into an unbeat melody on her lute. She will continue to play, varying the songs from the Elven tunes her father taught her, to play some human mariner tunes from Kingsport on her pan pipes. During the numbers, she will use her empathy to uncover the adoration present within several members of the group and, switching back to the lute, mix in some slower romantic tunes to let those feelings flourish.

VALIDAR -
"We are travelling to Ansimont, which was already on our desired path, to assist in the internment of Lyonessa's fallen comrades.
"Indeed, my friend. Our road is made easier by the magickal constructs of our mages, but it is always good to have contact with civilization. There is just something comforting about knowing that the bed will not vanish in the morning," Validar will add with a smile.
"Now you sound like my father," Corley will note. "Wise words, nonetheless."
"I consider that a fine compliment, my friend. General Logan is a man I look up to."
Lord Corley will look upon Lord Validar's gift in surprise and gratitude. "I-- I don't know what to say, Lord Validar. I am deeply touched by your generosity, my friend."
"You don't need to say anything. You are quite welcome."
After clasping hands, Corley will inspect the mount and find him to be of high quality. "I am impressed that you were able to find such a quality mount here. Yes, he is both fine and spirited. I shall name him Destrier."
"You simply have to know where to look, my friend," Validar wil say with a smile. "I have found that if you do not accept average, then you are often left with only quality. Enjoy your new mount, Lord Corley."
"Of course", Lilia will say with a nod. "I shall begin immediately. And as per Sherwood's earlier statement, I claim the right of the first selection."
"But of course," Validar will answer.
Lilia goes about the business of indentifyng the magickal items that were offered by Lyonessa from her fallen comrades, with Kharyna's assistance. They are completed in the morning.
The elfin cloak is the most desirable item and Lilia will claim that. The rest of the items she will turn over to Validar for disbursement to the others.
"Very well, now that we have completed all outstanding issues regarding magick items, do not forget that you have just as much claim to another item as anyone would on this new disbursement."
"As Arocken has expressed interest in the magickal chain mail, he shall receive that. In addition, since so few people require armor upgrades, the lesser magickal chain shall go to Po. That does leave one more set of chain mail should someone desire it. Otherwise we can sell it here for expense money. Also we might as well try to sell the halfling sized armor as well." Validar cannot help but think fondly of his former Seeker companion, Bernice.
"Laucian has asked for the Ring of Chameleon Power. My ranger friend, it is yours. Kylie had asked last time about a magickal short sword, so that will go to her. Talia shall receive the Cloak of Arachnia." Many of the group pass on selections. "What say the rest of you?"

GM Notes:
Quick GM Notes:
The distrubution of magic items in Validar's post were based on discussions that took place outside of the game posts, so they were not simply made up on the fly.
I've recieved word that Gordon is dealing with personal issues right now and will not be posting regularly. I 'll be ghosting his characters for the moment, so here are their updated moves.
Kylie requests the Shortsword +1, as she really wanted one the last time magic was handed out. She is granted this request.
The dwarven priestess accepts Lyonessa's explanation of Kax's fate with great sadness. (She was his wife.) The body is carried inside the Temple to be intered according to their faith. Grondar remains at the temple and spends the night in Dwarf Town, while the Lyonessa and Ivy rejoin the others.

Laucian
The talk of magic begins to turn old and Laucian excuses himself and sits next to the hearth staring into the flickering flames of the fireplace and occasionally adding wood to it as needed. Lara soon joins him by the fire and for a moment he does not realize she is there while he pokes at the fire.
After a time, Lara will excuse herself from the magic conversation. Magic is a wonderful and interesting thing, but it does not consume this elf like it does Lilia. Instead, she will strike up a conversation with Laucian. It's been awhile since she's been around a male elf and would like to know more about him.
As their conversation continues about themselves it appears Lara wishes to know as much as she can about her new companion. "I was raised in a temple of Ehlonna after my mother passed away." Giving a smile of the first time sneaking out into the forest, "The priests there were wonderful to me and showed me many things. Sadly I think I drove poor Ivellios crazy at times disappearing for hours amongst the brush of the forest. When it came time to depart in service of my patron I was sent to the Northern borders of the Elfholds to help with the raiding parties that plague our lands."
Rising earlier this morning than normal Laucian sees to his mount and gear for the trials of the day. Once satisfied with his merits he will walk his mount out into the sunny day. It is a much improvement over the recent weather and makes his life as one of the scouts a little easier to see.
As the others are ready Sherwood speaks of warnings and what to expect of the townspeople. When he begins to explain of the town's assets Laucian becomes curious, "Does this Animonst Have a Leather tanner or Leather maker? My armor has suffered from the previous conflicts and needs to be repaired",pointing to the hole in his shoulder.
Soon the column is on the move and Laucian welcomes the sun as it shines down upon him. He watches the horizon for potential threats but finds none.
The Town of Anismont comes into view and the elfin ranger looks at it in mild disgust for he would much rather be in the open air than confined to a city. They make their way through the human town and find rooms at the Amber Waves Inn. He will stow his gear and remove his armor for his robes. He will excuse himself from the group and begin looking for an armorer to repair his armor.
As the night progesses Validar raises a toast to fallen comrades as he finishes Laucian will reply "Here, here." Soon Lyonessa begins to sing a ballad and the ladies begin to dance. Having a few drinks within him he places down his mug and joins the ladies in dancing doing the best he can to keep up and not look like a fool.
Of all the magical items present Laucian will express interest in the Chameleon power ring.

Chareos
Placing his last notes of one of the spells he has been studying within his own tome, he rubs his eyes and looks around at the others within Sherwood's magical dwelling. Much to his surprise many of the others have turned in for the night so he will follow suit and go to his bunk.
Walking outside into the sunshine is a surprise to him considering the recent cold weather. Soon Sherwood begins to explain of Animont's villagers and businesses. Much to his surprise it is known that they do not care for mages, due to a fireball incident by a drunken mage.
Entering the town he notices several silos and other buildings. They soon get their rooms and Chareos makes to get settled and then gets ready to accompany the others to the temples to deliver Lyonessa's fallen friends.
Chareos becomes quiet as the dwarf comes to speak with them, and listens to Lyonessa's explanation of what happened.
Later on that night drinks are bought by Swanny and Validar soon raises a toast to their and our honor. For a moment he thinks about those who were lost and says silently to himself, "May their spirits find peace."
Soon the mood is left by Lyonessa playing and some of the others begin to dance. He can help but watch the others as they frolic around the dance floor. He is content to sit and watch the others as they lighten their spirits.

Lyonessa:
The good time had by all brings lightens Lyonessa's heart. it is good to see people able to enjoy themselves despite such grim tasks we face Her eye passes on Chareos who seems apart even though within the group. There are others not dancing, not just the mage, but Lyonessa is also not able to read his mood clearly.

Once the night winds down, Lyonessa looks for the mage. "Excuse me, Chareos isn't it? I have met so many people over the last day and a half that I do not want to mistaken anyone. Although not my business, I noticed you seemed somewhat withdrawn this evening. Is everything alright with you? I ask only because you remind me of someone who I know and do not want the same thing that consumed him to happen to others. I also wanted to thank you in accompanying me to the temple earlier. All of the others around made the process a little easier to deal with."

After buying another round for his comrades, if they wish it of course, He will watch the others continue dancing with a smile on his face. He only wishes that he could move as gracefully as the others as they dance and have a good time. As the night presses on and the music has ceased Lyonessa approaches him.

Looking up from his half drunk ale he will reply, "You are not mistaken my friend. It must be difficult to remember the names and faces of so many so fast. Do not worry, all is well." he will look at her reassuringly. "I merely wish not to make a fool of myself out there, much of my younger years were spent studying and I did not partake in dancing much. My mother tried hard to teach me but I inherited my father's skill."
"It was my pleasure, you should not have to carry such a burden alone."
He will take a drink of his ale and look at Lyonessa for a moment then ask, "You are a fine musician, but I wonder if you dance as well as you play. Would you care to dance?"

a drink or more..
Sherra:
Sherra smiles as she watches more and more of those gathered get up and dance. She herself is content to sit and drink, knowing full well she may regret it come the morning. She finds herself missing Grondar's company, although his absence has kept her from getting involved in some Dwarven drinking game no doubt, which she would have indulged in this night, but probably would have lost miserably.
When Lyonessa begins to play some tunes Sherra recognizes from the number of waterfront taverns she had visited, she can not help but begin toe-tapping. The mariner tunes are uplifting, but pull on her heartstrings at the same time.
Once Laucian gets up to dance, Sherra looks after him for a minute, admiring the Elven grace, not just his, but of all the Elves as they dance. Another round of drinks arrive and she takes hers, joining in with the various toasts and enjoying the company.

Lilia
Lilia:
"Then I will select this shield. It will be helpful should I find myself in close quarters combat."
Later, Lilia is dining in the common room with the others. Lyonessa is playing her tune to those fallen in the battle in the snow. It is a haunting melody that can't help but stir emotions. Afterwards, Kharyna's warrior companion asks for music to dance by. Much to Lilia's surprise, Lara joins the human on the dance floor! It is not something she would have expected from her elfin friend. Lilia herself has no interest in joining them.
"You are welcome. The pursuit of things magical is always of an interest to me, Songstress of Mystra.""It is agreeable Lilia. Thank you for your help in this matter," says Lyonessa.
The Elf Maiden pauses. She had been on her way back to her room to try out the cloak of her kin. Lilia turns and makes her way back to Validar. Alas, the selection is still frustratingly limited. Finally, Lilia locks her eyes on one of the shields."Very well, now that we have completed all outstanding issues regarding magick items, do not forget that you have just as much claim to another item as anyone would on this new disbursement."

Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!
Corley
Corley:
When no one claims the broadsword from the magic items, Corley will take it.
"Yes, of course", Lord Corley will say. He acts as if he wants to say more, but does not."I consider that a fine compliment, my friend. General Logan is a man I look up to."
When no one claims the broadsword from the magic items, Corley will take it.
We fight for King and Country!
Ivy waltzing along
Ivy:
Ivy doesn't notice the change in music as she dances close to Lord Acerion. Too lost in the moment and the closeness to be aware of it. Then it all hits the priestess at once. The strength of what she is feeling coupled with the music just makes her hold on even tighter. Leaning forward Ivy rests her head on Acerion's chest and is content to let the music guide her along.
"You are most welcomed, Lyonessa of Mystra. I too hope that we are acting in accordance to their wishes.""Thank you kindly for your assistance this day Ivy. The burden has been made easier with you to help lighten its load. I feel that many of my past group would be satisfied at this decision," Lyonessa will remark, truly thankful the priestess of Azrella is with her on this grim task.
"Agreed. Alas, we have no sure place to return the others belongings to them. Far better to keep them and perhaps use them for good deeds than to allow them to fall into unscrupulous hands.""It is what I believed to be right. I feel bad enough having to divide up the others items that I could not allow it to happen with Kax's." Lyonessa will also allow Grondar to lead the way in this matter, inputting when necessary.
During the numbers, she will use her empathy to uncover the adoration present within several members of the group and, switching back to the lute, mix in some slower romantic tunes to let those feelings flourish.

For the glory of the Blue Lady!
Swanny
Swanny:
"Very good', Swanny will say with an impish grin, making a mental note to see that the bard has suitable refreshments for her evening's work.
At the end of the evening, Swanny will compliment the bard on her talent. "Well played, Songstress. I thank you for your efforts."
"Indeed so, Swanny." Lyonessa breaks into an upbeat melody on her lute. She will continue to play, varying the songs from the Elven tunes her father taught her, to play some human mariner tunes from Kingsport on her pan pipes. Lara
Lara:
"In spite of the time I have spent in this part of the world, I still have yet to see the Elfholds that you call home. I guess it has something to do with them not being my home, so it's not as important to me. I was born and raised with in a small village of elves in the forests of Everwinter. My mother taught me the magical arts and my father how to do battle. Later I fell in with Kharyna and have been a great many places in this world ever since. The last few years have been extraordinary ones for me."As their conversation continues about themselves it appears Lara wishes to know as much as she can about her new companion.
Lara will smile seeing Laucian join them on the dance floor. "Welcome, Laucian. Do not be afraid. Just watch me and do what I do." Lara will proceed to demonstrate some basic dance moves to Laucian. As the night progresses Validar raises a toast to fallen comrades as he finishes Laucian will reply "Here, here." Soon Lyonessa begins to sing a ballad and the ladies begin to dance. Having a few drinks within him he places down his mug and joins the ladies in dancing doing the best he can to keep up and not look like a fool.
Talia
Talia:
After receiving her magical cloak, Talia is eager to try it out. She'll go up the room she is sharing with Sherra and don the magical cloak. It is black in color, so it fits in with her outfit. Talia tries out its ability to climb like a spider and scurries up the wall and across the ceiling with the cloak. It feels weird at first, but the dungeon scout adapts quickly. This will be a very useful item once we get underground again!
Talia enjoys her time on the dance floor and will thank Lyonessa for a pleasurable evening. Spent, Talia will retire for the evening.

My armor has suffered from the previous conflicts and needs to be repaired", pointing to the hole in his shoulder.

Try it and find out!
VALIDAR -
A few more items are claimed, but there are still some items that remain. Validar will claim the large magickal shield for himself and have it repainted in his coat of arms. In addition, he will suggest to Po that he take the remaining magickal shield. No reason for it to be sitting unused when the lad could be protected further by it.
Validar watches the crowd grow and his comrades relaxing by eating drinking and enjoying themselves on the dance floor. He continues to note the various friendships and interrelating that goes on between the various members of the Guardians of the Light. A slight smile crosses his face as he thinks on that and reminisces about past thoughts.

Conquer or Die!
Acerion
Acerion:
Pleased that Ivy will accompany him, Acerion gets up and attempts to will his feet to match the jovial tune. He laughes at his inability to quite match the quick footwork with his large frame, but he does not feel embarrassment as everyone is having a good time. Mercifully though, Lyonessa changes the tune and Acerion moves to dance closer with Ivy.
Acerion feels warmth fill him and his heart quickens as Ivy leans into him as they dance slowly. He closes his eyes and lets the music guide both of them across the floor. He places one hand against Ivy's head, letting his fingers entwine with her hair as he holds onto the moment, wishing it to last an eternity.

The last few years have been extraordinary ones for me."
"Well that is something that we will have to remedy if time allows us to do so. The Elfholds are very beautiful,if I do dare say so. Many of the dwelling are among the trees though a few lay upon the earth. The scenery and the creatures that dwell with in are truly magnificent. Many times I would climb the trees and perch myself upon it branches and watch the wildlife from afar. If you would like I will escort you there."
"When it came to training, Antinua and Ivellios were very strict and I must admit I am grateful they were, though at the time it didn't seem so. They taught me both swordplay and archery, of which I favor the bow."
Dancing---
Lara will smile seeing Laucian join them on the dance floor. "Welcome, Laucian. Do not be afraid. Just watch me and do what I do." Lara will proceed to demonstrate some basic dance moves to Laucian.
Laucian will smile and watch Lara begin to dance and will mimic her movements to the best of his ability. As he begins to copy her moves he will state, "One could get used to this, especially with a teacher such as your self." he will meet her gaze and smile.
The slower music coming forth from Lyonessa's lute soon reaches his ears for a moment he hesitates to ask Lara to dance but quickly regains his composure. He will offer his hand to Lara ,"Shall we?"
magical items--
Laucian will gratefully take the ring and place it upon his forefinger. "Thank you my friend I will use it well." Later on that evening he will try concentrate on operating the ring to mimic his surrounding area.
