New Frontiers #20

Traveling north, the Guardians have come across Auril's latest attempt to destroy Kharyna for her betrayal back on the Isle of Everwinter. Having defeated one force of monsters, the Guardians encounter a second group who was not as fortunate. Only one of their members remains standing as the icy monsters close in.

The two Frost Salamanders went down quickly, along with several Ice Warriors. After they fell, the guiding force behind this storm and assault made itself known. It was a great dragon-like creature constructed entirely of ice. The only feature that stood out was its eyes and they glowed blue in color.

The Ice Dragon demanded the surrendering of Kharyna. The Guardians refused. Battle immediately followed.

Aswansea rushes the large ice beast with her flaming sword in hand. Two quick slices create great gashes in the thing's frozen hide.

At the same time, Talia flees the area. She drops off of her horse and breaks into a run. After a few steps, she begins to take huge ground chewing strides and covers a large area in just a few leaps and bounds. The black-haired thief is quickly out of the combat zone.

Much further back, Kharyna casts a Fireball spell. The effect explodes above the Ice Dragon, sending fire and heat downwards. The top of the beast is singed and portions are melted away. Those close enough can't help but feel the heat from the blast.

Lilia adds to the barrage with a Lightning bolt. The dragon shrugs off both attacks and continues to advance.

Validar is the first of the riders to reach the dragon. He strikes at its flank with his magical sword, causing hunks of ice to go flying.

Sherra takes careful aim with her bow in an attempt to shot the dragon in its glowing eyes. In spite of missing her desired target, both shafts embed themselves in the dragon's neck. Laucian and Lara add more arrows to the beast's collection.

Further back from the conflict, Sherwood casts the warm version of Fire Shield. Violet colored flames begin to flicker about the Ranger/Mage's body, but they do not cause him any harm.

Chareos rides in after the warriors and creates a Flaming Sphere. He maneuvers the sphere into the rear hind leg of the Ice Dragon, causing it to shriek in pain.

Enraged by the assault, the dragon opens its maw and unleashes a blast of cold and ice forward. All those caught within the area feel waves of supernatural cold wash over them and they are pelted by razor sharp hunks of ice.

Corley, who was riding directly at the dragon, takes the brunt of the attack. His armor saves him from the worst of it, but his horse Charger isn't as fortunate. The warhorse stumbles, sending Corley tumbling to the ground. Charger topples as well and lies unmoving on the ground.

Sherra, Laucian, and Lilia are also caught in the expanding blast of cold. Each survives the icy blast, but Laucian is cut up pretty bad as is his mount. Aswansea's and Talia's riding horses are killed outright by the attack.

The far end of the blast reaches Kharyna and Sherwood. The former Priestess of Auril takes only minor damage from the deadly breath and Sherwood's Fire Shield completely protects him from harm.

Further behind the two mages, Grondar destroys another Ice Warrior as he attempts to protect Lyonessa from further harm. Kylie aids Grondar and fires a pair of shafts, destroying another Ice Warrior.

One of the Ice Warriors lunges at Lyonessa and she smacks it with her mace, but fails to destroy it. Arocken steps in wielding Sherwood's flaming shortsword to finally put it down. Nearby, Po struggles with an Ice Warrior.

Ivy moves quickly around them, trying to find signs of life in Lyonessa's companions. Little remains of the first body she comes across. It appears to have been a girl, but it is hard to tell now. Clearly this one has passed on.

Next Ivy reaches the body of a human male. Much of his neck gone and blood still flows from the gaping wound. A shield is still held tightly in the man's one hand, but his broadsword lies close by in the snow. There is no life to the man.

Back up at the main battle, Acerion reaches the dragon and sends his battle axe deep into its side.

Kharyna casts Magic Missile and four of the enchanted arrows slam into the dragon. Sherwood adds his own fireball and it also explodes over the dragon, sending heat and fire down on its target. Fire washes over the top of the Ice Dragon and what remains of its wings are melted away.

Swanny scores another sword hit and Validar's blade is heard from once more.

The dragon tries to move away from its attackers, but runs smack into a spell from Lilia. The elfin sorceress casts Agannazar's Scorcher at the icy beast. A jet of flame leaps from her hands and strikes the dragon's undersides. Fire continues to pour from her hands and burns more and more of the dragon away until it finally collapses, breaking into unidentifiable shards of ice. The fire keeps coming even thought the dragon can no longer be truly called a dragon. The assault continues for nearly two minutes before it ceases.

Chareos moves his Flaming Sphere over what remains, permanently destroying the Ice Dragon.

With the Ice Dragon gone, the remaining Ice Warriors fall apart and collapse into hunks of ice. The unnatural storm ceases and the threatening skies begin to abate. Patches of sunlight break through the cloud cover here and there. It's finally over with.

Never in doubt...

VALIDAR -

As Validar covers the distance between the Ice Lizard attack and this new foe, the Ice Dragon, the noble lord sees his comrades at arms begin their assault. There are bursts of fire and lightning that light up the sky with their power.

As he closes on the advancing beast, leading the charge, Lord Validar sees that the fair warrior Aswansea has already begun the assault of steel with her flaming magic weapon. "Allow us to aid you in your combat, my friend!", Validar will shout as he closes on the beast's right flank. "Together we can make this creature rue the day it decided to cross paths with the Guardiansof Light!" Validar's mithril blade strikes deep into the inviting side of the great beast, causing great chunks of ice to fly with each blow.

Within moments, Validar witnesses arrows and spells assail the dragon as well as the continued charge of his fellows. As expected the great beast bellows its hatred and anger and pain and lets loose a horrible blast of ice shards and cold. Validar sees Corley, in the lead, fall from his mount as well as some of the others engulfed by the breath weapon.

Acerion joins the assault as more spells are unleashed on the behemoth and Aswansea and Validar continue their attacks. The beast is rapidly being destroyed and suddenly a continued burst of fire rings out and melts what remains of the Ice Dragon. Validar steps back and watches as Lilia and Chareos melt what is left of the beast, moving slowly towards those who were hit by the dragon's attack.

Validar will quickly congratulate Aswansea and Acerion with a blade salute. "Well fought, my friends. Well fought, all of you!" He then heads back towards the group.

"Are there any serious injuries?" Validar will survey the battle scene and notice that only Laucian appears grievously wounded, as Lord Corley manages to regain his feet. Arocken and Acerion also show signs of the conflict, as well as many minor injuries among the group. "We have wounded to attend to! Po, Chareos, Kylie! You have watch while we regroup and recover from these attacks. I don't expect any more attacks from this enemy, but we will not be caught surprised after the battle."

Validar sees the fallen horses and noting the valiant Charger, gives his good friend Corley a comforting hand on his shoulder as he passes. Back at the site of the ambush, Validar sees the full extent of the combat. All save Lyonessa have passed on. Validar witnesses the look of futility that is painted upon Ivy's face and the pain at the loss of life. "We will give these people a proper burial and tribute. Some of our own could use your talents, my lady of Azrella," Validar will say softly.

Turning to the cleric that survived the attack, Validar will greet her, sheathing his sword and removing his helm. "Hail and well met. I am Lord Validar and we are known as the Guardians of Light. I am sorry for your losses," Validar will say, gesturing around at the fallen bodies in the snow. "You are welcome to ride with us. We head toward Rennydale and Corunglain."

Acerion

Post by Acerion »

Acerion:

Moving away from the melting ice dragon, Acerion removes his helmet. He watches as the magical construct becomes nothing more than slushy water. He scoops up a handful in his mailed fist as watches as it pours out between the gaps made by his fingers.

"How disappointing," Acerion comments as he looks skyward and watches the storm clouds flee. "I guess someone underestimated our combined abilities," he says to no one in particular.

Validar will quickly congratulate Aswansea and Acerion with a blade salute. "Well fought, my friends. Well fought, all of you!" He then heads back towards the group.

Acerion will return the salute by raising his battle axe over his head, dropping his other hand, thus letting the last of the water that was nothing more than an animated ice sculpture fall to the ground.

On his way back to the group, Acerion will clasp Corley on the shoulder, "A most noble steed indeed. I feel for your loss, friend Corley." With that he continues on.

"Although my abilities to heal are minor, I can led aid should our clerics need assistance," with that said, he scans for Ivy. Spying her, he sees the pain on her face over so many that perished within the other group. Wanting to offer comfort, he remains attentive in case he is needed. There is time enough to talk after all have been given the treatment and attention they deserve and have earned this day.

Regrouping after the conflict...

VALIDAR -

"How disappointing," Acerion comments as he looks skyward and watches the storm clouds flee. "I guess someone underestimated our combined abilities," he says to no one in particular.

As Acerion's comments are not directed to him, Validar does not respond out loud, but a smile graces his lips beneath his helm. "I have gotten accustomed to being underestimated and told that I am over-confident. This group is forming even better than I had dared to hope," the noble warrior thinks to himself.

"Although my abilities to heal are minor, I can led aid should our clerics need assistance," with that said, Acerion scans for Ivy.

"Your skills will of course be appreciated. I suggest you attempt to heal one of those with lesser injuries then. Perhaps Sherra or Lilia or our dwarven friend, Grondar, over there. And be sure that someone sees to your own wounds as well, Lord Acerion."

tumbling down...

Post by Sherra »

Sherra:
Sherra takes careful aim with her bow in an attempt to shot the dragon in its glowing eyes. In spite of missing her desired target, both shafts embed themselves in the dragon's neck.
"Going to have to work on that aim," Sherra mutters under her breath. Then suddenly the dragon releases its icy breath weapon, slamming into several of the group including herself. Picking herself up and struggling to shake off the effects, she realizes there are indeed things much colder than the spray across the wooden deck of a ship in the early morning.

Magical fire makes quick work of the dragon however, and Sherra watches with a smirk as it melts away. Looking around, she sees all of the group are still standing, although Laucian is slow to get to his feet. Several of our mounts have perished however, and it looks like all the other group, except for the woman who was singing, have met their demise.

Sherra's concerned eyes linger on Laucian for a moment until she sees the priests beginning to administer aid. She looks for Talia and makes her way over to her. Sherra begins to realize just how hurt she is, but wants to ensure Talia is alright first. She will walk up to her and try to gauge how she is doing mentally, and then motion to her to return to the group and offer a warm smile.

The Cold One holds grudges!

Post by Kharyna »

KHARYNA -

Kharyna takes pleasure from the effect of her Fireball on the Ice Dragon. Auril always was a jealous and annoying patron, even when she followed her. Now she is becoming a downright nuisance. She should know better than trying to kep up this foolish and just let bygones be bygones. "Your attempts to scare me aren't working, you frozen floozie!"

After the first spell, Kharyna starts to move to her left to spread out as Validar indicated. However, the Ice Dragon opens its mouth and begins to spew forth a barrage of cold and ice shards. The wave of frozen death expands outward catching many of the group in its effects and even reaches far back to herself and the now softly flaming Sherwood. Kharyna feels the cold wash over her and remembers the embrace of cold from her past. She is very glad that part of her life is in the past. How blinded she was by her upbringing on Everwinter, now Neverwinter again.

"Thanks, Mystra," Kharyna says to herself for continuing the gift of resistance to cold that Auril had originally bestowed. "I guess Validar was right that we should have spread out more. Too bad only a few of us listened to him. Next time, spread out first!"

Kharyna casts a brace of Magic Missiles at the Ice Dragon and they unerringly weave their way through the obstacles and strike the Ice Dragon in the neck. Before she has a chance to cast her next attack, the Ice Dragon is put down by more magic and steel from the fighters. Kharyna watches with smug satisfaction as the Ice Dragon crumples to nothingness. "Maybe that will teach you to just leave me alone now!", Kharyna shouts to the skies.

But deep down she is also feeling somewhat guilty. The other party was wiped out because they had a cleric of Mystra also and this moron Dragon managed to confuse the two of them. Of course, it is a dangerous world out there.

From her vantage point, one of the Rangers seems to be the most wounded, so Kharyna will cast her most powerful spell as Healing on the elf known as Laucian. Then she will cast a second level Heal on one of the fighters who seem to need it the most, Lord Corley who was felled from his saddle by the Dragon breath.

Sherwood

Post by Sherwood »

Sherwood:

"That was easier that I expected", Sherwood mentally notes as he observes the icy dragon collapsing to the ground in a giant puddle.

Looking around Sherwood notes that all the other ice constructs go down with the dragon and the weather begins to revert back to normal. So much the better.

"We might as well stop here for the night. It'll be dark in just a few hours anyway and we've much yet to do here. I'll have the house up near sundown so we can rest and get warm without fear of attack."

Looking around at the sheer number of people present, Sherwood realizes that the house is going to be rather crowded and that there won't be enough bunks for everyone due to the limitations of the spell.

"I'll scout out the immediate area and make sure that everything is secure and that no one else needs aid. I'll return in about an hour."

With that, Sherwood will cast Polymorph Self and change into an eagle, albeit one that's covered in violet covered flames! He'll take flight in this form and sweep the surrounding areas for signs of trouble.

Upon returning, Sherwood will check in with Validar to report his findings and learn what transpired while he was away. Before darkness sets in, he'll select an area and begin to cast Leomund's Hidden Lodge. Before retiring for the evening, Sherwood will renew his Stoneskin. Sherwood will pick out a spot to sleep on the floor for the evening and let someone else have a bunk.
I do what is necessary.

Ivy

Post by Ivy »

Ivy:
"Kind words Ivy of Azrella. Sadly they have all passed from their mortal shells I fear. My magic could not save them, but yours may be stronger. I am Lyonessa, a songstress of the Lady of Mysteries."
The woman's words make Ivy pause. They are already dead? If that is the case, then they are in the hands of their gods now and nothing Ivy can do will change that. She has not yet the power to bring a spirit back once it has departed this world.

"I do not doubt your word, Songstress of Mystra, but I shall check nonetheless to make sure."
"Do what you can for them, Ivy! I will see to it that you have the time you need!"
"Thank you, Grondar. I can only pray that our efforts will not be in vain."

While the others charge into battle, Ivy has the grim task of examining those who have fallen. The first body she comes across looks to have been a female, but she can't really be sure it is so badly mauled. Ivy fights to hold back the nausea in the pit of her stomach.

"Mother Azrella…", Ivy mumbles in shock.

The next body is a man and it appears that something bit into his neck. Death must have almost instantaneous. Another that cannot be saved.

Regardless, Ivy continues onward her hope of saving anyone fading with each moment until it is true that only the songstress survived. By now Ivy can't hold back the tears in her eyes any longer and openly weeps. The battle appears over and with a quick look, Ivy confirms that none of the Guardians fell in the conflict, although many look like they need healing.

Wearily, the priestess goes back to Lyonessa.

"It is true, songstress. Your companions have passed on. There was nothing I can do. I can only pray that they have found a better place to dwell."

If Lyonessa is in need of healing, Ivy will do her Lay on Hands on her.

Noting Grondar close by, Ivy will add, "Grondar, you may find this of interest. One of the fallen was a dwarf and he appears to have been a priest. I am not familiar with his order, but perhaps you can recognize his Holy Symbol? A hammer and anvil combination?"
All save Lyonessa have passed on. Validar witnesses the look of futility that is painted upon Ivy's face and the pain at the loss of life. "We will give these people a proper burial and tribute. Some of our own could use your talents, my lady of Azrella," Validar will say softly.
Ivy is momentary startled when she finds Validar standing next to her. So lost in her dark thoughts she was that his words snap her back to reality. "Yes, of course, Validar. You are correct. I will do what I can. Thank you."

Ivy will seek out those wounded who have not yet been healed by the other priests, burning all her spells to Cure spells. She'll use the most powerful Cures on those who appear in the worst shape. Spotting Sherra having difficulty in moving, Ivy will go tend to her first and then to the others working tirelessly in restoring their health.

Lord Corley's Loss

Post by Corley »

Corley:

Lord Corley is holding tight to Charger's reins as he rides hard to engage his foe. Unexpectedly, the beast unleashes an attack unlike any Corley has ever seen. Intense cold and razor sharp hunks of ice fly out of the creature's mouth!

The next thing Corley knows, he is falling and hitting the ground hard. The wind is knocked out of the warrior from the unexpected tumble.

By the time he regains his bearings, the Dragon is being bombarded by fire generated by Lady Lilia and Chareos is employing his fiery globe once more. Little remains of the monster.

"Victory is ours!", Corley cries out. He is ecstatic to see the monster defeated, but disappointed to have not played a role in the beasts demise.

Rising to his feet, Corley looks around to find another foe to engage. That's when his eyes fall upon the prone form of Charger. The mighty warhorse is laying there in an unnatural position, blood flowing from many wounds.

"Charger", Corley cries out in shock. He drops his sword and tosses his helmet aside as he goes to the side of his fallen mount. Alas, the light of life has left the noble mounts eyes. Somewhat in shock, Corley falls to his knees and can only stare at Charger's lifeless form.

Corley notes Validar's passage and his touch on the shoulder. Lord Acerion also approaches.
On his way back to the group, Acerion will clasp Corley on the shoulder, "A most noble steed indeed. I feel for your loss, friend Corley." With that he continues on.
"Yes, Charger was all that and more, Lord Acerion. He was a friend and companion. I fear that I am unsure how to properly… You know… What do I do with him now? I can't just let him lay there for the vultures to feed… I don't know what to do…"

Tears well up in Corley's eyes for his fallen friend.

Now that is better...

Post by Lilia »

Lilia:

The Elf Maiden is pleased when her first attempting at casting a Lightning Bolt fares much better than her earlier attempt at a Fireball. If only she still had that spell now! It would have done a great deal of damage to the frozen monster. Alas one must make do with the tools one has at hand.

The beast retaliates with a frosty breath that is a combination of cold and ice. Lilia is wounded from the attack, but there is still plenty of life left in her.

Casting her next spell, Lilia unleashes Agannazar's Scorcher on the beast. The jet of flame continuously comes from her hands traveling the distance between her and the dragon. What a useful spell! Ideal against ice creatures and trolls!

The jet of flame lasts for nearly two minutes. By then almost nothing is left of the dragon. A pleased smile comes to Lilia's face. Her magic has indeed grown more potent in her time here. Very good.

Looking around, Lilia can see that the battle is over. The weather is breaking and things are returning to normal. None of those she rides with fell in battle, but several mounts did not survive the attack.

Lilia will draw her bow and will stand guard, using her sharp elfin sight to spot any potential trouble. Should any healer come close to her, Lilia will say, "My wounds are minor, but a healing spell would be appreciated."

Later after Sherwood conjures his magical dwelling and it is discovered that we have more people than beds…

"I need only a few hours of sleep to feel refreshed, so I could share a bunk with another."
Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!

Swanny...

Post by Aswansea »

Swanny:

Swanny slashes at the icy behemoth with her flaming sword. Boy, is she happy to have that kind of weapon when dealing with frost butt's icy goons!

The battle ends rather quickly, but that is not surprising considering that we're almost the size of a small army now! Talk about different from the norm!
Validar will quickly congratulate Aswansea and Acerion with a blade salute. "Well fought, my friends. Well fought, all of you!" He then heads back towards the group.
"Yeah, right back at you, big guy!" Swanny waves her flaming sword around in an attempt to repeat the gesture, but just doesn't have the hang of it. "This calls for a celebration!"

Alas it is not to be. Turning around, Swanny can see many of the group are wounded and several of the mounts, her own included, were killed when the thing breathed ice and snow on them. So much for celebrating.

"Well, that's just great…", Swanny mutters to herself. "Now I know why we usually don't use horses any more. Guess some of us will have to double up now."

Swanny will go retrieve what she can of the gear stored on the horse and transfer it to another. Perhaps she and Lara can share a horse until another one can be acquired?

Later when the issue of cramped housing comes up…

"Say, Kharyna why don’t you make your own house so that we won't be so crammed into just one?"

Lara

Post by Lara Spellsword »

Lara:

With her spells mostly depleted from the earlier battle, Lara doesn't figure much in the battle against the Ice Dragon. Arrows are not going to do much against something that big. Thankfully it falls quickly and Auril's champion is no more.

Seeing the others dealing with the aftermath of the attack and not having been wounded herself, Lara will ride her mount a short distance away and stand guard with her bow. She'll take a position on the other side of the group from Lilia.
Swanny will go retrieve what she can of the gear stored on the horse and transfer it to another. Perhaps she and Lara can share a horse until another one can be acquired?
"That's fine with me, Swanny. Your gear probably weighs more than I do!"

Talia:

Running as fast as her magical boots will carry her, Talia reaches a place where she feels safe and turns back around to watch the battle. Combat never was her strong suit and she had no weapon that could hurt a thing like that, so getting out of the way was the only thing that made sense.

Talia lets out a gasp of shock when she sees the Ice Dragon breathe on several people, Kharyna and Sherra included. Fortunately, both appear to survive the attack. Once it appears safe, Talia will walk back to her horse. Or rather where her horse had been. It remained in the danger zone and it paid the price for my fear.

Spotting Sherra, Talia will approach her. She moves faster when Sherra is not as unharmed as she appears, covering the distance in great leaps and bounds.

"I need help over here!", Talia calls out. "Sherra has been hurt!"

Doing her best, Talia will help support Sherra until a cleric arrives to heal her.

Later, Talia will approach Kharyna.

"I'm sorry for my actions, but I didn't know what else to do. You know I'm not much of a fighter and am very much out of my element outdoors like this. I wish I could have done more to repay the kindness that you've shown me instead of running away like some coward. Can you forgive me?"

It appears all the foes are vanquished, the Dragon having been made short work of. Most impressive indeed, if only the others could have seen..

Tears well up in her aching eyes and she watches in vain as Ivy of Azrella tries to find a glimmer of life in one of the others. Lyonessa already knows the outcome, but decides Ivy will not deter from the path until convincing herself. Lyonessa can only watch.

Turning to the cleric that survived the attack, Validar will greet her, sheathing his sword and removing his helm. "Hail and well met. I am Lord Validar and we are known as the Guardians of Light. Warming Up

Post by Grondar »

Grondar:

With no time to watch the conflict with the dragon, Grondar focusses on removing the remaining ice-men. The first he encounters shatters into shards too numerous to count at the touch of his mace as he goes racing by. Two others fall to Kylie and Arocken. Grondar notices Po struggling with another of the almost-men, and zips in that direction to assist their new friend.

Before he can get there, however, the remaining ice-men collapse, seemingly of their own accord. Slowing to a stop, Grondar looks around, and notices the final destruction of the dragon by his compatriots. He returns to where Ivy is speaking with the priestess of Mystra, Lyonessa.
Ivy wrote:"It is true, songstress. Your companions have passed on. There was nothing I can do. I can only pray that they have found a better place to dwell."
The dwarf places a hand on Lyonessa's shoulder. "I am saddened by the passing of your friends, and am sorry that I couldn't do more."
Noting Grondar close by, Ivy will add, "Grondar, you may find this of interest. One of the fallen was a dwarf and he appears to have been a priest. I am not familiar with his order, but perhaps you can recognize his Holy Symbol? A hammer and anvil combination?"
A smile flickers across Grondar's face. "A hammer and anvil, you say? Ah, that would be Moradin the Soul Forge, lady Ivy. Berronar's husband, lord of the dwarven gods. His priest's passing is particularly bitter. I would have enjoyed meeting and talking with him."

It was going to just be a stop over, and now it looks like it will be the final resting place for many." Lyonessa looks at the body of the fallen dwarf, turning back to Validar with tears welled up in her eyes again. "Company would be appreciated if your road takes you near Ansimont."
Turning back to Lyonessa, Grondar replies. "I would be honored to see Stonesplitter properly interred in Ansimont, lady Lyonessa."

Grondar will work in tandem with Ivy, using his spells to provide as much healing as possible to the members of their band. Sherwood's words only serve to confirm that they will be remaining here and have the time to do their work.
Corley wrote:"Yes, Charger was all that and more, Lord Acerion. He was a friend and companion. I fear that I am unsure how to properly… You know… What do I do with him now? I can't just let him lay there for the vultures to feed… I don't know what to do…"

Tears well up in Corley's eyes for his fallen friend.
In the progress of his work, Grondar reaches Lord Corley. He kneels in the melting snow by his large friend. "Animals can be valued companions, even dwarves know this. We will bury Charger, my friend, as it should be. Once the healing work is done, you will see how a dwarf can dig."

Once Grondar is out of spells, and such other wounds as may yet remain have been bandaged, Grondar will turn his attention to the task of seeing that Charger and the other mounts slain in the battle are buried. Retrieving such tools as they have, he begins to dig a large grave for the horses. He will then assist Corley and the others in seeing their mounts properly laid to rest, saying a prayer once the work has been done.

It is late that evening when he completes his work, and a worn Grondar finds his way inside Sherwood's magical dwelling. Grondar barely has strength left to eat dinner, and makes little conversation. He cares not where he sleeps, whether bed or floor, collapsing in the nearest convenient space.

Kylie:

Her arrows strike home, and she downs one of the icy warriors. She can see that several of the others are having their own success. Her eyes note Ivy's progress in examining Lyonessa's companions. The look on the priestess' face tells her all she needs to know about the hopes for that band.

In the distance, she sees the dragon fall, and flaming spells reduce it to little more than a large puddle. Immediately, the remaining snow men crumble. This threat removed, she feels a sense of relief and begins to relax.

She moves to check on Lord Corley, as she has personal interests in the large warrior. Reaching his side, Kylie learns of the death of his horse. She looks at Corley with sadness in her eyes. "I am sorry for the loss of your mount. I know he was important to you. Still, I rejoice that you survived the battle without greater injury." After making certain that he gets the attentions of Grondar that he so richly deserved, Kylie will remain by Corley's side through the burial service.

Once Sherwood creates his dwelling, Kylie goes inside to begin the work of preparing their evening meal. After the fearsome battles they have suffered through this day, it is a pleasure to do something so ordinary and domestic.
Lilia wrote:"I need only a few hours of sleep to feel refreshed, so I could share a bunk with another."
Kylie smiles at her elven friend. "Like you, my need for sleep is limited by my elven heritage. Perhaps we could split a bed between us; one could sleep the first part of the night, and the other the latter part. Okay?"

Recovering from the conflict

Post by Kharyna »

KHARYNA -

After using her most powerful healing spell on Laucian, Kharyna will next go to heal Lord Corley. She sees him still kneeling beside his fallen mount. A tear streaming down his face.

"Where I am from, a funeral pyre is a fitting form of saying goodbye," Kharyna will offer softly. Kharyna does not quite understand the extreme connection between a noble warrior and his mount, but she feels his pain. After a few moments, she will cast a Healing spell upon the fighter.

As she casts her spell, Grondar approaches and offers to help bury the mount. From what she knows, burial is generally reserved for nobles and rich elite in special burial crypts or else on the grounds of a church. Perhaps dwarves have different customs and she does not speak up to downplay Grondar's offer.

"I can understand the reason behind the reaction, but I fear that such strong actions can only show you in a poor light to those who do not know you. You may be out of your element, but we all strive to protect each other. I would certainly have condoned you moving away from the battle, given little way to harm such a beast, but perhaps you could have assisted with the Ice Warriors or something. You have valuable skills."

Later when the issue of cramped housing comes up…

"Say, Kharyna why don’t you make your own house so that we won't be so crammed into just one?"

"Oh, of course, Swanny. I have a Secure Shelter stored in my Ring for just this very purpose. It may not be as comfortable or as secretive as Sherwood's more advanced Hidden Lodge, but it will suffice for a night." Kharyna will mention to Sherwood and Validar that she has this spell available and that it can hold up to eight people in rough bunks, and while not hidden, is rather secure against intrusion and fire.

At some point, Kharyna will approach Lyonessa, hopefully with few people present or able to overhear. She is a little guilty about the attack that Lyonesssa's group succumbed to. "Greetings, sister of Magic. It is good to meet you, Lyonessa of Mystra. I am very sorry for your loss of your companions. I was me that the Ice Dragon was sent by the Cold Goddess to punish."

Kharyna will bunk in her Secure Shelter for the evening, using the Unseen Servent provided by the spell to assist her in her memorization of new spells in the morning. Before she sleeps, she will cast all her remaining spells as Healing that she can as long as people are still injured.

Preparing to Camp...

Post by Validar »

VALIDAR -

Validar nods at the curious salute by his new companion Aswansea. "The customs must be different on Neverwinter," Validar says to himself with a smirk. He notes Acerion's return salute. Together and with Lord Corley's might of arms, we have the nexus of an extremely powerful fighting force. "Let the enemies of Cynalon and beyond quake in fear at our power and might," Validar will add to his two comrades-at-arms.

Ivy is momentary startled when she finds Validar standing next to her. So lost in her dark thoughts she was that his words snap her back to reality. "Yes, of course, Validar. You are correct. I will do what I can. Thank you."

"We can only do what we are able. Do not trouble yourself over issues you cannot change. There is nothing we can do to save these people now. We can only strive to make sure it does not happen to others in the future."

When Sherwood decides it prudent to camp here for the evening, Validar is in agreement. "A wise decision. We have many tasks to resolve and after a battle such as this it is always adviseable to relax and recover from the strain of the conflict and also to address the issues of Lyonessa and her fallen comrades. When you return from your scouting mission, we will be ready to make our encampment.

Seeing some of the others like Lilia and Lara also take up watch points is a good sign. They will not be caught unawares even as other tasks are attended to.

"Pleasurable to meet you Lord Validar. I am Lyonessa, a songstress of the Lady of Mysteries. Thank you for your kind words and your aid. We were on our way to Ardelphia by way of Ansimont. Kax Stonesplitter, the dwarf among our band lived there and had a temple to Moradin nearby. It was going to just be a stop over, and now it looks like it will be the final resting place for many." Lyonessa looks at the body of the fallen dwarf, turning back to Validar with tears welled up in her eyes again. "Company would be appreciated if your road takes you near Ansimont."

"Our road does indeed take us through Ansimont on the way to Rennydale. It is the main thoroughfare to Corunglain. Your words indicate that you wish to return the fallen bodies to Ansimont for burial there. Unfortunately we do not have a cart to transport the fallen, but perhaps one of the mages has a spell that will assist in this endeavor."

"Our companionship is yours, Lyonessa. However, may I ask the purpose for your intended journey to Ardelphia. I am sure that you are aware of its occupation by an army of humanoid rabble. Corunglain is a battered domain and Stone Ridge is not a safe place. The family of Lord Acerion there is from Ardelphia," Validar says pointing out the paladin of Heironeous.

Lord Validar will return to Lord Corley after the initial details are attended to. His good friend is still in obvious pain over the loss of his trusted mount and Validar will offer him his hand and place his other hand on his shoulder. "We can only remember this valiant companion of yours, but we will remember him well. Charger served you well and with honor."

Grondar's suggestion for burial begs a question. Do we have the proper digging tools to complete such a task, or would a funeral pyre be more suitable a sendoff?"

If we have the tools and burial is agreed upon, then we should all get to work and finish the grim task. However, a pyre seems more practical and just as honorable to this noble.

The evening meal will be quite welcome after the trek through the blizzard and the battle with the Ice Dragon.

"It matters not to me how we decide who sleeps in which of the magickal buildings. Perhaps the mages should use Sherwood's cabin if it will be more secluded and allow them easier time to recover their spells."

Acerion

Post by Acerion »

Acerion:

"Your skills will of course be appreciated. I suggest you attempt to heal one of those with lesser injuries then. Perhaps Sherra or Lilia or our dwarven friend, Grondar, over there. And be sure that someone sees to your own wounds as well, Lord Acerion."

"Indeed," Acerion replies, although he is not that concerned about his own wounds. It would seem though that between Ivy and Grondar, he will be receiving healing regardless.

Since it would seem that Sherra is being tended to, Acerion seeks out Lilia. Remembering the rather poor reception from her earlier, he approaches her calmly regardless, finding her standing guard.

Lilia will draw her bow and will stand guard, using her sharp elfin sight to spot any potential trouble. Should any healer come close to her, Lilia will say, "My wounds are minor, but a healing spell would be appreciated."

"If you would allow me," Acerion will remove his guantlets and make sure the elf maiden does not seem ready to pierce his heart with an arrow. He will then Lay Hands upon her. Acerion will then work closely with Ivy and Grondar if they are still in need of assistance once their healing spells run out.

Later on, after either the pyre or the digging have been completed, Acerion will search out Ivy. Having watched her tirelessly tending to the wounded without care about her own injuries and the emotional strain on having so many she could not help, he doubts she thought of healing for herself. Without doubt, Grondar rendered aid, but Acerion seriously doubts Ivy would have allowed any powerful magics be used on her when so many others were in need. He will walk up behind her and gently place his hands on her shoulders. Acerion will use a healing spell that Ivy probably never has seen or felt used before. Similair properties to a Cure Light Wounds, but not cast in the traditional sense, nor is it similair to the Laying of Hands. He will stand there and hold her after the spell is complete for as long as she wishes comfort.

I'm not that hurt... am I?

Post by Sherra »

Sherra:
Spotting Sherra, Talia will approach her. She moves faster when Sherra is not as unharmed as she appears, covering the distance in great leaps and bounds.

"I need help over here!", Talia calls out. "Sherra has been hurt!"

Doing her best, Talia will help support Sherra until a cleric arrives to heal her.
"No really, I.... guess I am pretty beat up," Sherra says, realizing how badly wind-blown and beaten from the intense cold her exposed skin must look. Her body aches and her joints seem frozen, but really she didn't think she was that bad off. Talia's concern and expression erased those thoughts quickly from her mind.
Spotting Sherra having difficulty in moving, Ivy will go tend to her first and then to the others working tirelessly in restoring their health.
"Thank you Ivy," Sherra will smile, "that feels so much better now." She will watch as Ivy moves off to continue healing the others, admiring her caring and good soul.

When Talia goes to speak with Kharyna, Sherra will find Grondar. "If you need them after your spells have been depleted, I have a few potions I've carried for some time now that may be of help."

Sherra will see if any of those pulling guard duty need a break for healing or anything else. If not, she will do what she can around the chosen campsite until Sherwood's return. When the division of who will sleep where is brought up, Sherra has no prefrences, although Validar's suggestion of the mages sleeping in the more secure structure makes sense.

Laucian

With a hard kick to the ribs Starfire carries Laucian towards the glossy form of the Ice dragon. Dismounting as quickly as he can he places his sword into the ground. As his blade stands quivering in the ground he dawns his bow and sets his sights at the frigid beast and fires. His first shot strike home in its shoulder region, his second ringing true again, landing near the first.

Suddenly the beast cries in pain and expels a blast of cold and ice. The wood elf barely has time to cover his eyes with his arm as it rushes toward him to engulf him. The warmth from his body is nearly beated from him as ice shards pepper his body, many of them piercing his armor. He lands with a thud to the earth groaning as he hits the ground. He tries to sit up but has trouble doing so. A piercing pain is coming from his shoulder as well as his thigh. Looking down at what may be causing the pain, he notices two long slivers of ice imbeded in his shoulder and another further down.

Gripping the shards with his good hand he begins to remove the icicles from his body. With a grunt and curse in Elfish the one in his thigh comes free and he quickly applies pressure to it trying to stem the flow the best he can.

Looking around to survey the scene he sees the remnants of the dragon crumble and begin to melt away into nothing via Lilia's spell and great fire ball.

"Are there any serious injuries?" , Validar shouts.

"Here!" in a weakened shout. As Kharyna comes to his aid he sees Sherra looking his way with concern in her face. He will give her a nod and say, "Do not fear, I am in good hands." Surely Ehlonna was looking over him this day.

As Kharyna finishes her spell the elf tries to stand on weak legs and stumbles for a moment. Regaining his footing he will begin to convert all his remaining spells into cure spells and begin helping with the wounded. After the healing of the others is completed he will see what he can do for his mount.

Noticing Corley lean near the fallen body of his mount, Laucian will approach him and place his hand upon his shoulder. "I am sorry for your loss my friend." trying to comfort the man the best he can. "Ehlonna will watch over him and guide him in his new journey." He will say a silent pray to his patron asking her to watch over his spirit.

"A pyre would be best. I will see to the wood if need to be and see what is taken be replenished."

As he passes Validar and hears of bringing forth the lodgings for the night he will speak with him. Knowing full well not to make camp near a hunting trail/ battle " It would be wise to lead tracks away from the camp and lodgings or move away from here entirely. If there are more in the area of which they came." pointing to the scorched earth and water puddles. "They will surely see the smoke and come investigate."

"I will take the floor as well." he will state when they speak of whom gets beds. "I am used to the feel of the earth and would not bother me to do so."

The day trails by and he manages to eat some of Kylie's fine/welcomed cooking. Afterward he will clear his plate and make sure Starfire is okay. Afterward he will go through his devotions and make his bed near the hearth of the fire place. And go to sleep as soon as he can.

Greetings

As introductions are being made to the follower of Mystra, Laucian will take the time to introduce himself. "Hail and well met, I am Laucian. I am sorry for your losses my lady, If there is anything that you require please feel free to let me know."

The Guardians of Light proceed to throw caution to the wind as they make the ice wyrm and its minions eat its masters words.

He watches as the others begin to wage war against the foul beast. Not to be undone he begins to cast his own spell at the beast. As he finishes his casting a flaming sphere comes into existence near the beast. He concentrates and the great ball of fire rolls into the beast's hind leg causing it to shriek in pain.

The beast would have its vengeance though and expels a blast of cold and ice towards the charging fighters. Some of them are knocked from their mounts and the mage curses softly to himself and again concentrates on sending the ball into it again.

With the beast down and the rest of the ice warriors a watery mess Validar calls for a guard. With a nod he pulls out his wand of lightning and begins to look for signs of trouble in the area.

KHARYNA -

Heading up to Laucian, Kharyna sees that he is trying to remove the ice shards imbedded in his shoulder and the wound on his leg is bleeding profusely. She kneels beside him in the snow and casts her healing spell, closing all his wounds in the process. As the most wounded, Laucian likely needs additional healing and she will expend a lesser spell if needed. "The Ice Dragon has a bitter cold breath weapon, but except for your armor and clothing being damaged, you should be just fine. I recommend sitting by a warm fire tonight to chase the chill from your bones however."

Later, she will mention that no one needs to sleep on a floor anywhere, since we will have two cabins for the group and plenty of beds for everyone. "My lesser spell will not have any magickal conveniences, except for an Alarm Spell, Wizard Locked doors and windows and an Unseen Servant for myself, but it should be comfortable enough and certainly better than a bedroll on the floor."

In the morning, Kharyna will cast her Astral Awareness spell once underway about an hour or two. As it lasts about six hours that should cover a bunch of our travelling time. No real reason, other than to be prepared.

Lyonessa:

meeting Kharyna:

At some point, Kharyna will approach Lyonessa, hopefully with few people present or able to overhear. She is a little guilty about the attack that Lyonesssa's group succumbed to. "Greetings, sister of Magic. It is good to meet you, Lyonessa of Mystra. I am very sorry for your loss of your companions. I was me that the Ice Dragon was sent by the Cold Goddess to punish."

"Greetings to you fellow sister Kharyna. Thank you for the kind words." the Cold Goddess seeks to punish Kharyna? there must be great power involved here "Why would a Goddess go to such measures to punish you, especially not your own? Does that not cross some cosmic line, risking the wrath of the Lady of Mysteries herself against such a blatant attacker?"

continue with Validar:

"Our road does indeed take us through Ansimont on the way to Rennydale. It is the main thoroughfare to Corunglain. Your words indicate that you wish to return the fallen bodies to Ansimont for burial there. Unfortunately we do not have a cart to transport the fallen, but perhaps one of the mages has a spell that will assist in this endeavor."

Corunglain is a battered domain and Stone Ridge is not a safe place. The family of Lord Acerion there is from Ardelphia," Validar says pointing out the paladin of Heironeous.

"Not all of my companions were from Ansimont, in fact only Kax to my knowledge hailed from there. I merely thought it suitable that all bodies delivered there for proper laying to rest. It was never a topic we had discussed. I guess no one thought of it ever happening."

"I joined with them in fact to search out my twin sister. An adventurer like myself, although I have far less years then her on the wild road. Some within the group I was in believed she was last seen in the area of Ardelphia. The others were seeking out adventuresome goals - treasure, glory, maybe a tale woven in their name and deeds. Thus a mutual pact was formed between us. The intention was not to desecrate any family holdings." Lyonessa says the last with a long glance at Lord Acerion. a lot of noble families involved in this group. quite a bit of political power.

"The offer of companionship is a bit received with surprise to be honest, Lord Validar. I have just met all of you, and yet you all ring of noble bearing, not just in family inheritance. If after Ansimont it remains the same in manner and mood, then I will take you up on that companionship indeed."

meeting Laucian:

As introductions are being made to the follower of Mystra, Laucian will take the time to introduce himself. "Hail and well met, I am Laucian. I am sorry for your losses my lady, If there is anything that you require please feel free to let me know."

"Most pleasureable to meet you noble Laucian. Thank you for your aid and the kind words. More has been done than I could ever ask already, but I will be sure to let you know if anything else requires your kind offer."

GM Notes:

Lyonessa/Arocken:
An elven warrior intercepts her foe first however and finishes him off. "Thank you noble elf."
"You are most welcome, Lady of Mystra", Arocken will saw with a small bow.

Healing:

After the battle, the clerics of the group cast their various Cure Wounds spells on the wounded. While most are not yet up to maximum, they are in much better shape then they were earlier. In this instance, Ivy's healing spells are far more effective than those of other faiths as healing is the providence of Azrella.

Scouting Report:

Sherwood returns from his scouting for trouble and announces that the area is clear of Auril's icy agents. He estimates Ansimont to be about half a day's ride away. Normally it would take about a day to reach, but the bad weather slowed traveling speed considerably.

Burial issues:

Not much was purchased in the way of digging equipment, but you can assume that there are at least two shovels and a pick available among the group.

Most of the good align religions either support cremating their charges or burial in consecrated common graveyards. The remains in such graveyards are protected from being made into undead by necromancers and their ilk.

Instant Housing:

With both Sherwood and Kharyna creating magical dwellings there are enough beds for everyone. Sherwood's dwelling will hold ten in comfort and Kharyna's eight. Sherwood's dwelling is the more secure of the two. So who is going into which dwelling? Also where are you going do with the bodies of Lyonessa's former companions and their gear?

Sherwood:
"Oh, of course, Swanny. I have a Secure Shelter stored in my Ring for just this very purpose. It may not be as comfortable or as secretive as Sherwood's more advanced Hidden Lodge, but it will suffice for a night." Kharyna will mention to Sherwood and Validar that she has this spell available and that it can hold up to eight people in rough bunks, and while not hidden, is rather secure against intrusion and fire.
"Very good, Kharyna. I was unaware that your mage skills were that advanced. This will make the trip much more bearable for all."

When Sherwood decides it prudent to camp here for the evening, Validar is in agreement. "A wise decision. We have many tasks to resolve and after a battle such as this it is always advisable to relax and recover from the strain of the conflict and also to address the issues of Lyonessa and her fallen comrades. When you return from your scouting mission, we will be ready to make our encampment."
"It seems the most prudent course of action to take. I doubt we could reach Ansimont before night fell anyway, so might as well rest up for tomorrow and hope for better weather."

Upon returning Sherwood will inform Validar of his findings that the area is clear of any unnatural danger.

"The cold beasts seem to have been driven off. Laucian has the right idea as there are still natural predators out there. The smell of death is strong here and it will attract those that would feed on such things. Perhaps we should move down the road just a little bit to avoid waking to predators at our doorsteps. A small fifteen, twenty minute ride should suffice. The bodies of the fallen adventurers will need to be taken inside for their own protection as well."

Sherwood will speak up at this point. "I can memorize several Mount spells and cast them when we leave tomorrow. The horses I summon can carry the dead to Ansimont for us."

Sherwood will also take the time to introduce himself to Lyonessa.

Kharyna -

"Greetings to you fellow sister Kharyna. Thank you for the kind words." the Cold Goddess seeks to punish Kharyna? there must be great power involved here "Why would a Goddess go to such measures to punish you, especially not your own? Does that not cross some cosmic line, risking the wrath of the Lady of Mysteries herself against such a blatant attacker?"

A wry smile comes to Kharyna's face at Lyonessa's questions. "I am afraid that I was the one who 'crossed the cosmic line', sister," Kharyna will admit. "I grew up on Neverwinter, when it was still Everwinter of course, and locked in The Icy One's frozen grip. My white hair is considered a sign of favor those those of her following and I was taken to the temple and 'introduced' to Auril at a young age. Naturally I became a follower for some time and grew in stature in her temple. At one point I learned about The Icy One's true nature and evil and decided to break away. Mystra assisted me and my companions and I destroyed the evil artifact that held Neverwinter in its chilled clutches. Needless to say, the Icy One's followers were driven from Neverwinter, her power diminished and her status questioned by everyone who heard about it. She does not like me much now. Fortunately, the Lady of Mysteries took me in and I continued to follow her. I know have learned much about magic usage as well as the spells granted my our patron. It has been an interesting journey for me."

"Mystra protects me and has given me some small favor. In fact we are in the middle of a large quest to reclaim a temple deep in the Towers of Gaz for Mystra. It is something I must get back to once my commitments here are completed. The Icy One grants her followers a protection against frozen temperatures and even magickal cold. Mystra continued this gift to help me continue to thwart the Icy One's plans when possible and when confronted by her followers."

"Now I have become something of a collector of magic items. I find them fascinating, the more unique and powerful the better. How long have you been a follower of Our Lady of Mysteries?"

Sherwood - "Very good, Kharyna. I was unaware that your mage skills were that advanced. This will make the trip much more bearable for all."

Kharyna will bow her head slightly and smile at the slight compliment. "Jalarzi was a good teacher. And we have had some very successful adventures for magickal knowledge, learning and item acquisition. Reclaiming Ilefarn and the exploration of the Towers of Gaz in particular have been rather profitable adventures."

"I have been trying to concentrate on the direct magickal nature and power of my patron of late. In such a way, the natural learning of my mind in regards to magick greatly accentuates the granted powers that Mystra deigns to favor me with."

"The Shelter is a common method of encampment for us. With so small a group as we possessed, it was prudent to take advantage of every skill at our disposal."

Later, we move up the road about a half hour and then encamp some distance off the main thoroughfare. Kharyna will encamp in her own Shelter since she has the benefits of the Unseen Servant for herself.

Sherwood will speak up at this point. "I can memorize several Mount spells and cast them when we leave tomorrow. The horses I summon can carry the dead to Ansimont for us."

"I will provide a mount spell as well to assist in either carrying our own or the bodies of Lyonessa's fallen comrades."

"As Sherwood and Kharyna have proved for means of carrying the fallen to Ansimont for internment, then we can do so. We will take the fallen into one of the shelters and then make the short ride to Ansimont in the morning. There the clerics can see to their final rest as each sees fit, should they so desire."

"As said, Ardelphia is not a safe place. And there are many reasons one may want to be in Ardelphia now, but to do so is to court danger and death. We will be heading there in due time ourselves."

"For now we search for the evil hand behind the attacks on a member of my family, the ruling house of Pyris. The trail leads us to Rennydale and has brought us into conflict with the Cult of the Blackflame. The Guardians of Light seek to extinguish this evil flame once and for all time. You can be assured that the quests we have committed ourselves to are noble and good."

"I did not mean to take you by surprise with our offer of companionship. In the Seekers, a group I adventured with in the Frontier lands, this sort of thing happened quite often. I would surmise the same happens to adventuring bands in Stone Ridge and northern Corunglain in general. Those groups that have been rendered untenable are combined or absorbed into others. I am certain we can trust you as a follower of Mystra and you should not travel through Elcadan's lands on your own. They not only condone the banditry that exists within these borders, but they support it. You have little choice but to travel with us at least until Ansimont. If you choose your own way that is of course up to you, but there are some among us who wish to travel to Ardelphia in the future. If you wish our companionship, it is there for the offering."

Sherwood returns from his scouting for trouble and announces that the area is clear of Auril's icy agents. He estimates Ansimont to be about half a day's ride away. Normally it would take about a day to reach, but the bad weather slowed traveling speed considerably.

"Then we shall travel to Ansimont in the morning and take the fallen there to be intured. We might as well spend the night there, as there will be precious little travel time left once our tasks in Ansimont are completed. Then we can continue to Rennydale."

"Wise courses to take. I am glad to hear that there seem to be no more attacks imminent from our new enemy."

Ivy:
A smile flickers across Grondar's face. "A hammer and anvil, you say? Ah, that would be Moradin the Soul Forge, lady Ivy. Berronar's husband, lord of the dwarven gods. His priest's passing is particularly bitter. I would have enjoyed meeting and talking with him."
"If this Kax's home temple was in Ansimont, then there must be other dwarves there as well, Grondar. Yes, I agree. We must return him to his home temple so that he may be laid to rest according to the tenets of his faith."

Once Sherwood creates his dwelling, Kylie goes inside to begin the work of preparing their evening meal. After the fearsome battles they have suffered through this day, it is a pleasure to do something so ordinary and domestic.
Ivy will assist Kylie as she usually does in preparing the meal and is happy to clean up the dishes afterwards. Since she is already in Sherwood's dwelling, Ivy will spend the night there.

"Where I am from, a funeral pyre is a fitting form of saying goodbye," Kharyna will offer softly. Kharyna does not quite understand the extreme connection between a noble warrior and his mount, but she feels his pain. After a few moments, she will cast a Healing spell upon the fighter.
While doing her work, Ivy will pass by Lord Corley and his fallen steed. "Cremation is the preferred method of interment for my faith, Lord Corley. Charger's immortal spirit has passed on to the next world. All that remains is the shell that housed his spirit. There is no disgrace in purifying it in fire. It also prevents the shell from being used by those who dabble with the necromantic arts."

Ivy will take the time to say last rites to all who have fallen in this battle, Lyonessa's companions and the mounts killed by the Ice Dragon.

Validar said: "We can only do what we are able. Do not trouble yourself over issues you cannot change. There is nothing we can do to save these people now. We can only strive to make sure it does not happen to others in the future."
"I know", Ivy says with a sigh. "But I cannot put me feelings aside so casually. Unnecessary loss of life is always tragedy."

Later on, after either the pyre or the digging has been completed, Acerion will search out Ivy. Having watched her tirelessly tending to the wounded without care about her own injuries and the emotional strain on having so many she could not help, he doubts she thought of healing for herself. Without doubt, Grondar rendered aid, but Acerion seriously doubts Ivy would have allowed any powerful magicks be used on her when so many others were in need. He will walk up behind her and gently place his hands on her shoulders. Acerion will use a healing spell that Ivy probably never has seen or felt used before. Similar properties to a Cure Light Wounds, but not cast in the traditional sense, nor is it similar to the Laying of Hands. He will stand there and hold her after the spell is complete for as long as she wishes comfort.

Weary and emotionally spent from healing the living and saying goodbye to the deceased, Ivy is momentarily startled to feel a touch on her shoulders. The priestess relaxes almost immediately as she has a pretty good idea just who it is. The next thing she knows she feels healing energy surging through her tired body. Ivy is too tired to really note that no normal spell casting is involved, liking it to the Heironeous version of Laying on Hands.

"Thank you, Lord Acerion," Ivy will gratefully say. "I had the feeling that it was you. I am thankful that you were not seriously injured. All this death and destruction from a goddess spurned. It is so senseless…"

Ivy doesn't mind Acerion's presence and does feel better having him close.

"Thank you Ivy," Sherra will smile, "that feels so much better now." She will watch as Ivy moves off to continue healing the others, admiring her caring and good soul.
"You are most welcome, Sherra. Now if you will excuse me, there are others who need the touch of my goddess. Please let me know if you need another spell cast on you."

Lord Corley

Post by Corley »

Corley:
In the progress of his work, Grondar reaches Lord Corley. He kneels in the melting snow by his large friend. "Animals can be valued companions, even dwarves know this. We will bury Charger, my friend, as it should be. Once the healing work is done, you will see how a dwarf can dig."

Lord Corley thanks his friends and the various priests for their assistance in this matter. "I thank each of your for your kind words and advice. Friend Grondar, I truly appreciate your offer to dig graves, but I think I must side with the others. Charger is now in a better place and I have no desire to see his mortal remains used for some vile purpose. A pyre does seem to be the best choice in this situation."

"Thank you, Lady Kharyna for restoring my health."

After the pyre has been built and the fire is slowly dying out, Corley will thank everyone for their assistance in this matter. He is most grateful for their support in this trying time.

"Yes, he did, Validar. I am ashamed that he fell due to my own careless actions. I sometimes think that nothing can seriously harm me, but forget about those around me. Charger fell because of my own actions."
"Thank you for the kind words, Lady Kylie. I too am pleased that you were uninjured in the battle. I could not bear to bury two friends this day." Corley is pleased to have Kylie by his side during this troubling time.

Later on, Corley will not eat as heartily as he normally would. Nothing to do with Kylie's fine meal, but rather he had not the stomach to eat right now. He turns in early, but does not sleep all that well.

Chareos

As he stands guard over the healers and the wounded a sudden thought comes to his mind. A spell he had be reading about but never truly understood in his mind suddenly pops into his memory. He quickly tries to put the thought in the back of his mind to write it down later.

As the dwelling becomes into existence Chareos will enter Sherwood's and ask to see the 3rd level tome and begin studying it franticly taking little time to eat. As the night progresses he will try to copy as many of the spells with in his own book and than memorize his new spells.

Lara:

Lara remains at her guard post while the others carry on with the aftermath of the conflict with Auril's icy constructs. After a time Sherra approaches seeing if I need a break.

"Thanks for asking, but I am fine. I wasn't wounded during the fighting. Hopefully we won't be much longer out in the open."

Having grown up in the icy clime of Everwinter, Lara is accustomed to the cold. Not that she particularly favors that climate, but she isn't as uncomfortable as some of the others.

At the appropriate opportunity, Lara will introduce herself to Lyonessa. "I hear that you are a Spellsinger. I don't believe I ever encountered one of those before. Nice to meet you."

Later that evening, she will congratulate Chareos for gaining access to 3rd level mage spells. "An exciting time, is it not? I gained access to them just a few weeks back myself. Indulge yourself in the wonders to come."

Lara will retire with her usual group in Kharyna's house.

Lilia:
Kylie smiles at her elven friend. "Like you, my need for sleep is limited by my elven heritage. Perhaps we could split a bed between us; one could sleep the first part of the night, and the other the latter part. Okay?"
"It is an agreeable arrangement to me, Kylie", Lilia will respond with a slight bow. "I can take the first part if that is acceptable to you."

Upon learning that the one called Kharyna is able to conjure her own dwelling, sharing a bunk no longer becomes necessary.
Since it would seem that Sherra is being tended to, Acerion seeks out Lilia. Remembering the rather poor reception from her earlier, he approaches her calmly regardless, finding her standing guard.
Lilia sits on top of her horse, bow at the ready in her hands. She can't help but note that someone is approaching. Those wearing armor tend to not be stealthy and the crunching of ice and snow underfoot only adds to the noise. Lilia turns and glances in that direction before returning to her watch. It is the one called Acerion, with whom Lilia has had little contact.
"If you would allow me," Acerion will remove his gauntlets and make sure the elf maiden does not seem ready to pierce his heart with an arrow. He will then Lay Hands upon her. Acerion will then work closely with Ivy and Grondar if they are still in need of assistance once their healing spells run out.
"You may proceed", Lilia will tell Acerion. After he is finished healing her, Lilia will add, "Thank you for your efforts, Paladin of Heironeous."

Gripping the shards with his good hand he begins to remove the icicles from his body. With a grunt and curse in Elfish the one in his thigh comes free and he quickly applies pressure to it trying to stem the flow the best he can.
Lilia turns away from her guard duties upon hearing the elvish curse and recognizes the voice of her clansman. Glancing that way, the elf maiden can see Laucian on the ground and bleeding. She's about to say something when Laucian calls out for assistance. A moment later, the one called Kharyna goes to his aid and makes use of her healing magic.

Later, Lilia overhears some of the conversation between the two Priestess of Mystra.
"Now I have become something of a collector of magic items. I find them fascinating, the more unique and powerful the better. How long have you been a follower of Our Lady of Mysteries?"
That last bit gets Lilia's attention as it is something of her own goal as well. At an opportune moment, Lilia will approach Kharyna.

"I wished to thank you, Priestess of Mystra, for healing my clansman. I am also impressed by your spell prowess. I hope to consider myself a collector of magic items at some point as well, but I am not that far as of yet. Oh, I am Lilia of Clan Grunalf. I don't believe we were properly introduced before."
As the dwelling becomes into existence Chareos will enter Sherwood's and ask to see the 3rd level tome and begin studying it frantically taking little time to eat. As the night progresses he will try to copy as many of the spells with in his own book and than memorize his new spells.
"Of course, Chareos. Here it is." Lilia will produce Artur's tome of 3rd level spells for his use. "Enjoy the mysteries you are about to unravel."

That night, Lilia will choose the house Kharyna constructed. Hopefully she will be able to further converse with Kharyna and Lara about magic and the treasures they have discovered.

Swanny:
"Oh, of course, Swanny. I have a Secure Shelter stored in my Ring for just this very purpose. It may not be as comfortable or as secretive as Sherwood's more advanced Hidden Lodge, but it will suffice for a night." Kharyna will mention to Sherwood and Validar that she has this spell available and that it can hold up to eight people in rough bunks, and while not hidden, is rather secure against intrusion and fire.
"Great. Sharing a bunk in such cramped quarters is not my idea of fun. Of course it would depend just who I was sharing it with…", Swanny adds with a sly smile.

Talia:
"I can understand the reason behind the reaction, but I fear that such strong actions can only show you in a poor light to those who do not know you. You may be out of your element, but we all strive to protect each other. I would certainly have condoned you moving away from the battle, given little way to harm such a beast, but perhaps you could have assisted with the Ice Warriors or something. You have valuable skills."
"In hindsight, I know, but alas that was not where my mind was at the time. I was unable to even strike any of the Ice Warriors during the earlier conflict while everyone else was putting them down left and right. There seemed little that my knives or darts could do against that kind of foe."

"Just take it easy", Talia will say in a soothing voice. "One of the priests will get you all fixed up in no time."

Talia will also thank Ivy for her healing touch before she departs. Talia will eat lightly of the evening meal, and will thank the cook for their efforts. The dark-haired scout will help clean up afterwards, trying to make herself more useful.

She'll retire in Kharyna's house as she is accustomed to doing.

Sherwood:
Kharyna will bow her head slightly and smile at the slight compliment. "Jallarzi was a good teacher. And we have had some very successful adventures for magical knowledge, learning and item acquisition. Reclaiming Illefarn and the exploration of the Towers of Gaz in particular have been rather profitable adventures."
"Yes, Jallarzi is a very good instructor. My cousin has far more patience when it comes to that sort of thing than I do. She has also kept me up to date with some of your exploits."
"The Shelter is a common method of encampment for us. With so small a group as we possessed, it was prudent to take advantage of every skill at our disposal."

"A most wise course of action", Sherwood will agree. "We should be able to provide adequate shelter for everyone between the two of us."

Next morning while Casting his Mount spells, Sherwood will specifically create a warhorse, complete with riding equipment for Lord Corley to use.

"I know this cannot replace Charger, Lord Corley, but it will serve as a more suitable mount for the time being. I should note that it is only temporary and will vanish when the spell expires. However, that should be at least twelve hours from now."
I do what is necessary.

Laucian

As he begins to apply pressure to his wounded leg, Kharyna kneels down beside him and begins casting a spell on his wounds.

"The Ice Dragon has a bitter cold breath weapon, but except for your armor and clothing being damaged, you should be just fine. I recommend sitting by a warm fire tonight to chase the chill from your bones however."

"It is a small price to pay for the cost could have be far worse." taking his bloody hands away from the wound he can see only a hole in his armor. "I thank you for the healing my lady and I will do as you recommend this night."

The dwellings.

Laucian will look at Kharyna and retort, "Many of the conveniences of which you speak I am not in the practice of using. I am much more used to the bare necessities due to most of my time is spent in the wild and among the creatures of the forest. I welcome the opportunity to get to know you and the others, that is if there is still room among your dwelling."

Remembering what Sherwood had said about magical weapons striking the lizards Laucian will walk toward his mount and gather his long sword +1. He will than seek out Arocken.

"When we set out on this journey to capture those behind this plot I never would have thought it would grow in such a manner. It is with each other's skill and steel we will overcome these trials before us and I for one wish that everyone be prepared for what may come." Raising the sheathed sword in both hands horizontally."This has served me well in the past and it will serve you well in the future."

"Of course, Chareos. Here it is." Lilia will produce Artur's tome of 3rd level spells for his use. "Enjoy the mysteries you are about to unravel."

Taking the tome with a sign of satisfaction on his face, "Thank you Lilia I will enjoy this to its fullest. I have always loved learning more of the arcane arts whenever possible but to gain access to an entirely new level is almost overwhelming. I will remember this day well."

Later that evening, she will congratulate Chareos for gaining access to 3rd level mage spells. "An exciting time, is it not? I gained access to them just a few weeks back myself. Indulge yourself in the wonders to come."

"Aye it is very exciting time indeed. I am looking forward to unraveling the mysteries held within it pages. I only wish my mentor could see this day."

Taking the tome underneath his arm he will walk to the hearth of the fireplace and begin to read into the clues and mysteries that the tome holds. As he figures some of the writings out he will take his own spell book and begin to copy the spells within his own. Once done studying the tome for the most part he will begin to memorize new spells for the next day and then return to more studying. He will go to bed at a decent time to be sure to be well rested for the next day's travel.

Kylie smiles. "I only wish that the results had not been so bitter for you. If you want to talk about this later, I'd be happy to listen."
Lilia wrote:"It is an agreeable arrangement to me, Kylie", Lilia will respond with a slight bow. "I can take the first part if that is acceptable to you."
"That is fine," Kylie says with a smile. "I can make good use of the evening hours." However, it soon turns out that sharing is not necessary, so Kylie will sleep in the earlier part of the night and spend the latter studying her magics.
Ivy wrote:Ivy will assist Kylie as she usually does in preparing the meal and is happy to clean up the dishes afterwards. Since she is already in Sherwood's dwelling, Ivy will spend the night there.
Kylie appreciates the assistance, and chats idly with the priestess while they work. Like Ivy, Kylie will remain in Sherwood's cabin for the night.

Grondar:

The matter of the disposition of Corley's mount and the others garners much discussion. Among his people, due to their connection with the earth, burial is the custom whenever possible. However, these humans have their own ways, and Grondar will not gainsay it. Once a decision is made, Grondar will assist in carrying it out, however he may.
Ivy wrote:"If this Kax's home temple was in Ansimont, then there must be other dwarves there as well, Grondar. Yes, I agree. We must return him to his home temple so that he may be laid to rest according to the tenets of his faith."
Grondar smiles at his human friend. "Thank you, lady Ivy. Kax's spirit and his family will greatly appreciate our efforts on his behalf.

"I must admit, that I have a selfish reason for wanting to go there, as well. It has been some weeks since I have had the company of my own people, and I am looking forward to seeing them. It will also give me an opportunity to tell them of the small shrine I was able to set up in Elcadan."
Sherra wrote:When Talia goes to speak with Kharyna, Sherra will find Grondar. "If you need them after your spells have been depleted, I have a few potions I've carried for some time now that may be of help."
Grondar smiles wearily at his human friend. "Thank you, Sherra. That is very generous of you. Let us see how everyone is doing when all of the healing is done, and we will assess the need to use the potions. Since the party has some held collectively, we should start with those, but I will remember your offer if the need exists."

After dinner, Grondar will take the time to visit every member of the group to determine the need for further healing. Once he has made a complete survey of the group, he will approach Validar and Sherwood. "It appears that we still have some people with injuries. We have some potions that could help, and Sherra has kindly offered some from her personal collection, as well. Or, we could wait until morning, and let us priests finish the work with the new blessings that our patrons bestow upon us. As the leaders of our party, I leave it to you to decide the best course of action in this matter." Grondar will await their decision, then proceed to carry it out.

That night, Grondar sleeps heavily in whichever magical shelter has room. In the morning, he takes the time to perform his usual devotions and supplicate the Revered Mother for her blessings.

KHARYNA -

Laucian - "It is a small price to pay for the cost could have be far worse." taking his bloody hands away from the wound he can see only a hole in his armor. "I thank you for the healing my lady and I will do as you recommend this night."

"No need to thank me. We all work together here and support each other. You helped to fight that Ice Dragon who came for me. The least I can do is try to heal the wounds you received in doing so."

"Hello Lilia, I am Kharyna of Neverwinter. While I am a Priestess of Mystra, I mostly consider myself to be a follower and seeker of Mystra's knowledge and gifts. I have never spent much time in a temple once leaving the Cold One's influence behind. I must admit that I concentrate on having mage type spells even as my priestly abilities. Mystra seems to be pleased by this."

"Collecting of magick is an interesting hobby to be sure. Most of the adventures we've been on have been to procure knowledge and unusual items. I fear we are not so political as mercenary," Kharyna will say with a laugh.

"Great. Sharing a bunk in such cramped quarters is not my idea of fun. Of course it would depend just who I was sharing it with…", Swanny adds with a sly smile.

"That's our Swanny. Always on the look-out for a good time. Some day when you least expect it, someone's going to make an honest woman out of you yet," Kharyna says with a playful laugh.

Conversation with Talia - "I can understand the reason behind the reaction, but I fear that such strong actions can only show you in a poor light to those who do not know you.

"We shall have to strive to acquire some more useful magickal weaponry for you then. As that is your main method of combat, this will make you more effective should this sort of thing arise again. At the very least, move away from the conflict, if necessary, in an orderly fashion and strive to support the others with your eyes. A melee can be a horrible and confusing jumble of sights and sounds and you could save someone from an inopportune attack just by watching."

"Yes, Jallarzi is a very good instructor. My cousin has far more patience when it comes to that sort of thing then I do. She has also kept me up to date with some of your exploits."

"I could not have asked for a better teacher. I have learned many things from her, both magickal and mundane."

Laucian will look at Kharyna and retort,"Many of the conveniences of which you speak I am not in the practice of using. I am much more used to the bare necessities due to most of my time is spent in the wild and among the creatures of the forest. I welcome the opportunity to get to know you and the others, that is if there is still room among your dwelling."

"There is indeed room for you, my forest dwelling friend. Even with the usual four of us and Lilia and yourself, there are still 2 more places available here. Perhaps you could collect the necessary needs for the fire?"

That night, Lilia will choose the house Kharyna constructed. Hopefully she will be able to further converse with Kharyna and Lara about magic and the treasures they have discovered.

Lilia asks questions about the exploits of Kharyna, Lara and their group, so Kharyna will relate some of the experiences, especially in regard to Illefarn and the Towers of Gaz. The elf takes great interest in their magickal gains, so Kharyna will explain some of the items she has kept for herself.

"My Ring of Spell Storing is not particularly unique, but very useful. It gives me some extra spell capabilities if I can plan in advance enough."

"My Cloak of Reflection is one of my favorite items." Kharyna indicates her red silken cloak she normally wears. "It nullifies or even causes the effects to affect the caster on such annoying things as Hold Person, Entangle, Magic Missiles, Color Spray and others."

"My Spell Shield seems an unusual item for a mage, but I am also a cleric and can fight with mace and shield if need be. It rebounds many regular missiles back at the shooter and also absorbs Magic Missiles some of the time."

"The wands are useful and I definitely get use out of them. But my Staff of Power is a very nice addition to the collection. It is a magickal weapon for striking, Protects me and has some wondrous functions. The Globe of Invulnerability is particularly useful in certain situations. I am always on the look-out for more interesting and useful items. What of your exploits so far?"

Next morning while Casting his Mount spells, Sherwood will specifically create a warhorse, complete with riding equipment for Lord Corley to use.
Kharyna will also cast a mount spell to assist Sherwood in the transporting of the fallen comrades of Lyonesa.

winding down..

Post by Sherra »

Sherra:
Lara remains at her guard post while the others carry on with the aftermath of the conflict with Auril's icy constructs. After a time Sherra approaches seeing if I need a break.

"Thanks for asking, but I am fine. I wasn't wounded during the fighting. Hopefully we won't be much longer out in the open."
"Not a problem," Sherra replies, smiling easily. She heads off to tend to the horses, including her own, and help out with any other preperations needed before we bed down for the night.

Much later in the evening, Sherra will seek out to stay with Kharyna and her group. If Talia is up for talking for a bit, that's who she is really interested in seeing right now.

"I didn't hear all of the conversation, and I don't mean to pry, so tell me if I'm out of place Talia. Are your choice of weapons the only ones you would consider using? A bow, dagger or short sword would greatly increase your versatility, and still keep most of the freedom that heavier weapons don't allow for. However, even throwing knives can be deadly," Sherra will show her two braces of throwing knives, one pair on each wrist, and give Talia a sinister smile to let her know those aren't the only throwing knives she carries.

"We could find time to practice together and both improve our effectiveness with them if you're interested. I could also teach you in methods of dagger or bow if you are so inclined. I, myself, am thinking about learning to use the short sword for those times when I'm trapped in a melee. It's bound to happen eventually," she will say with a laugh.

Sherra will continue to talk as long as Talia is interested, eventually bedding down for the night. The following morning she will take a quick inventory of her arrows and reshuffle any around as needed. She will also help with the preperation of the horses and any other duties that may come up.

Lord Corley

Post by Corley »

Corley:
Kylie smiles. "I only wish that the results had not been so bitter for you. If you want to talk about this later, I'd be happy to listen."
"I-- I think I would like that," Corley will gratefully say.

Kylie cannot help but notice that Corley doesn't eat as well as usual. She walks over and places her hand on his shoulder as he makes to rise. "This has been a trying day for you, Lord Corley. I pray you get some rest this night."
"Thank you, Lady Kylie. You have are most kind."

Corley will look on in awe as Sherwood conjures a mighty warhorse from thin air! He pauses for a few moments as he eyes the horse with wonder.

"Thank you, Sherwood. Most kind. Indeed, he shall serve until I can purchase a new warhorse."

Arocken:

Remembering what Sherwood had said about magical weapons striking the lizards Laucian will walk toward his mount and gather his long sword +1. He will than seek out Arocken.

"When we set out on this journey to capture those behind this plot I never would have thought it would grow in such a manner. It is with each other's skill and steel we will overcome these trials before us and I for one wish that everyone be prepared for what may come." Raising the sheathed sword in both hands horizontally. "This has served me well in the past and it will serve you well in the future."
Arocken will be momentarily taken aback by Laucian's gesture. He will accept the sheath and draw the sword, gauging its feel and balance.

"It is a fine blade, Laucian. I am most touched by this gift. I used to have a fine enchanted blade of my own, carved with the runes of our ancestors. Specifically enchanted to slay giants it was, but it was destroyed in explosion of fire that nearly claimed my life. I will use it proudly."

He will grasp hands with Laucian.
Try it and find out!

Sherwood

Sherwood:
After dinner, Grondar will take the time to visit every member of the group to determine the need for further healing. Once he has made a complete survey of the group, he will approach Validar and Sherwood. "It appears that we still have some people with injuries. We have some potions that could help, and Sherra has kindly offered some from her personal collection, as well. Or, we could wait until morning, and let us priests finish the work with the new blessings that our patrons bestow upon us. As the leaders of our party, I leave it to you to decide the best course of action in this matter." Grondar will await their decision, then proceed to carry it out.
Sherwood will consider for a moment. "Unless someone is in dire need of healing right now, I'm of a mind to save the potions and using your patron given powers come the morning. Save the potions for an emergency, since anyone can give them to someone who is wounded."
I do what is necessary.

Lilia

Post by Lilia »

Lilia:

"Your interests lie along my own personal motivations, Kharyna of Neverwinter. The acquisition of new spells, enchanted items, and knowledge. If that is considered to be mercenary, then I too am one."

Lilia listens in great fascination as Kharyna speaks of her exploits and the treasures she has required. The Elf Maiden is almost envious of the magic she has gathered in her career. Perhaps she should have left the forest a long time ago?

"I am most impressed by the treasures you have acquired, and perhaps a tad envious of them as well. I can only hope to acquire such similar items of power."

"My own exploits pale in comparison to yours, Kharyna of Neverwinter. This particular venture is my first beyond the borders of my homeland. Primarily countering orc and other humanoid threats to the Elfholds. My own enchanted items are typically of the weakest form of enhancement."

"However, I do have one prized item. A Ring of Free Action that allows me to ignore the affects of enchantments such as Webs and Entangles. A very useful item depending on the situation."

"While not a Priestess of the Lady of Mysteries, I do have some unusual innate abilities. I can detect the presence of magic without casting spell, and even read enchanted writings without spell. I have a knack of being able to ascertain the enchantment of an item without the use of spells. At times I am even able to resist the effects of magic cast upon me. I am told that the blessings of the Lady Mystra does run strong in my bloodline, stronger then most other elves."

After a pause, Lilia will add, "Perhaps after completing this current mission, you would let me accompany on your task to cleanse the Towers of Gaz. I would be most grateful and find it a most fascinating task."
Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!

Swanny in shock...

Post by Aswansea »

Swanny:
"That's our Swanny. Always on the look-out for a good time. Some day when you least expect it, someone's going to make an honest woman out of you yet," Kharyna says with a playful laugh.
"What a horrible thing to say," Swanny will retort in mock shock.

Talia

Post by Talia »

Talia:
"We shall have to strive to acquire some more useful magickal weaponry for you then. As that is your main method of combat, this will make you more effective should this sort of thing arise again. At the very least, move away from the conflict, if necessary, in an orderly fashion and strive to support the others with your eyes. A melee can be a horrible and confusing jumble of sights and sounds and you could save someone from an inopportune attack just by watching."

"I will endeavor to do better, Kharyna. I promise you."

The tall, dark-haired thief will gratefully hug Kharyna.

Later, Talia is happy to have Sherra along with her and her friends.
"You're not of place, Sherra. I consider you to be a friend. I do have other weapons at my disposal in addition to the knives and darts. I know how to use a shortsword and do carry one. Its not enchanted however, and my own physical abilities are not very good in that sort of thing."

"I do have an enchanted dagger, but I am not as good with it as my knives. I haven't gained much in the way of equipment since my rescue. Perhaps learning to use a bow would be beneficial?"
"Its worth trying," Talia will agree. "Who knows, it might even be fun."
Sherra will continue to talk as long as Talia is interested, eventually bedding down for the night. The following morning she will take a quick inventory of her arrows and reshuffle any around as needed. She will also help with the preparation of the horses and any other duties that may come up.
The thieves will talk for as long as the others are up going on about magical things. She feels a bit more at easy now and will even say goodnight to Laucian, since he is sharing our house this evening.

Laucian

"No need to thank me. We all work together here and support each other. You helped to fight that Ice Dragon who came for me. The least I can do is try to heal the wounds you received in doing so."

Laucian will nod to her statement and reply, "None of us would wish to see you in the monsters cold embrace. Why did it come for you?"

"There is indeed room for you, my forest dwelling friend. Even with the usual four of us and Lilia and yourself, there are still 2 more places available here. Perhaps you could collect the necessary needs for the fire?"

"If that is all of which you require i will go and collect wood." With that Laucian will turn and walk into the forest and begin to gather wood and kindling to last the night. While he is out collecting firewood he will plant a seed from his belt pouch and say a pray to his patron.

Once back at the dwellings he will enter Kharyna dwelling and proceed to begin to start a fire with in.

As the night progresses he will make small talk with the others. Taking out his quiver he will check his arrows and arrange it so he can grab his normal and magical arrows and than place his bow within his quiver.

Once done arranging his weaponry he will stow his gear and sit at the table. Where Lilia and Kharyna are having a conversation of magical items. He listens intently as they go through their inventory.

Seeing how they are divulging their inventory Laucian will share as well. "Of all the magical items that I possess by far my most useful is the Quiver Of Ehlonna I was given when I left my temple. It has 3 compartments for arrows, bows or spears and another for javelins. It has come in handy many a times."

As the night comes to a close Talia seems to be warming up to her new companions. She soon makes for her bed and says goodnight to everyone including himself. Slightly surprised at this considering their pryer conversation he will say good night in return. Before he goes to bed he will go through his devotions and make ready to rise early in the morning.
