Crucible #25 - "Shooting Star"


Activity at Castle Vigilant has picked up considerably. First the Young Champions have arrived from Sanctuary along with most of their medical staff and equipment. The doctors begin to set up their equipment to examine those who were changed by the White Light yesterday, such as Lily and her daughter Rose.

Shortly after the Young Champions arrived, a young woman calling herself Tesla arrived, looking to join up with the Vigilant. Electricity played about her body and she wore modified army fatigues.

Inside the castle, the meetings continue…

Edgar:

If not he will later ask Edgar if he would be able to acquire files on Affrighter and the other bad Bloods. Also, "I thought of something that we might need as in equipment for the castle, unless we have it already. Do we have a cross reference of all mutants in our Database?"

"I have been monitoring your communications bands and gathering as much information about this world as possible, sir. Once assimilated, the information will be placed into a database and cross-referenced for easy retrieval. However, the task will take a great deal of time to accomplish."


Psi-Lad:

"Playing at wizardry is dangerous without supervision young sir. Although I am told by the High One that magic is a weaker force in this realm so perhaps there is less danger in it then I suppose. If you are not a mage then what talent do you possess that brings you here? I have already seen many wonders in this city done by the inhabitants who live here. Are you one such as well? Pardon me I will return in a moment....."

Once more Psi-Lad is surprised by the response that he gets. "It's just role playing", he tries to explain. "Pretend? Make believe? No one is actually playing with 'real' magic."

"As for my own powers, I am what they call Psionic. I can do things with my mind. Not much, but maybe with training I'll be able to do more things."


Archangel:

"An appropriate name, then," Lily replies. "Hmm..." she murmurs, thinking. "Born with, huh? So you've had your powers since birth? That certainly makes Rose seem less unusual. I may want to share that with her, since she may not meet any other metahumans around her age."

"That is correct, so I am a mutant. However, I am unusual in the regard that most mutants don't gain their powers until puberty, so superpowered children are unusual."

Rose giggles happily at Archangel's remark. However, his question leaves her a bit perplexed. "Uhm, I don't know. My powers, I guess."

"Oh, I see." The answer is sort of vague, but probably the best the child can give at the moment, so Archangel won't pursue the point any further.


Dr. Marin:

"Well, actually, he scanned both of us," Lily replies, a little uncertain. "As best I understand it, Edgar is a part of this castle, which is apparently alive and sentient. The only equipment I saw consisted of some kind of strange device which extruded out from the wall or ceiling. I'm afraid I don't really know how he did any of it, which is part of why I'm wanting a regular doctor to confirm what he told me."

Dr. Marin will stand there with an incredulous look on her face. "Edgar is the castle and the whole thing is alive and sentient? I see. Excuse me for a moment, please."

Angelique will rush to inform Gladiator of this surprising development. Gladiator will in turn seek out Flux and will question him in his usual even tempered manner. "I am told that the one you call Edgar is supposedly this dwelling that we find ourselves in. Can you explain this?"

At that moment, Edgar will step up to Flux. "Sir, I've been monitoring the local communications and several matters of interest have cropped up involving superhuman activities. I thought that--"

Before Edgar can finish his thought, a tremendous explosion rings out back on the mainland, but it is loud enough to be heard this far away. Those rushing to take a look can now see smoke rising from the Coronado area. It seems to be in the general vicinity of where the PRIMUS base is located…

"Making your ideal dream girl or guy would have some benefits yet, Personally what happens when you don't like what you get? Kinda moronic if you as me."

"As I understand it, Malachite is into the whole genetic superiority trip, so he probably doesn't believe that anyone born natural is good enough for him. And your right, it does sound rather stupid, doesn't it?"

"It's better to be safe than sorry, Nemesis. Last thing I would want to do his hurt someone unknowingly and cause a conflict in the process. I will bare your words in mind in the future."

"Oh believe me, I know what you mean. With the way my powers work, I can kill pretty easily, so playing it safe is my motto too."


Eldritch:

"Indeed. Powerful in the Arts are they? How would a person make contact with these sorts?"

"Their both been heroes for a number of years now, so I'd guess that they are powerful. I really have no idea since I don't have a proper frame of reference. As for contacting them, call them up on the phone. The Enchantress can be reached at the Avengers Mansion in New York City and the Sorceress at the Ranch in Dallas."

[Bruce]

Flux:

Dr. Marin will stand there with an incredulous look on her face. "Edgar is the castle and the whole thing is alive and sentient? I see. Excuse me for a moment, please."
Angelique will rush to inform Gladiator of this surprising development. Gladiator will in turn seek out Flux and will question him in his usual even tempered manner. "I am told that the one you call Edgar is supposedly this dwelling that we find ourselves in. Can you explain this?"

So much for security and secrecy.

"Sorry Gladiator, the explanation will have to wait. Edgar, what's happening out there?"

Flux will listen to Edgars' update then move outside, expand to full size and call the rest of the Vigilant together.

[Bruce]

Eldrich Arcane:

"They've both been heroes for a number of years now, so I'd guess that they are powerful. I really have no idea since I don't have a proper frame of reference. As for contacting them, call them up on the phone. The Enchantress can be reached at the Avengers Mansion in New York City and the Sorceress at the Ranch in Dallas."

"I shall endevor to do that young miss."

....as soon as I can discover what a 'fone' is and where it can be found.

"I thank you for your help. Excuse me again...."

A psionic? That sounds vaguely familiar...

"Ah, yes a psionisist. I recall this. It is a relativley new discovery back home, only three generations or so have studied it. Non-magical effects, very controversial at first. Many mages insisted it was merely a new form of magic. Mind over matter? Yes?"

Eldrich is pleased to find commen ground at last with the youngster; so far up to now they had only managed to confuse each other!

[Menagerie]

Lily:

"That is correct, so I am a mutant. However, I am unusual in the regard that most mutants don't gain their powers until puberty, so superpowered children are unusual."

"Mutant... Yeah, I think I've heard that term used before. Still, it will be nice for Rose to know that she isn't the first or only metahuman child around."

Dr. Marin will stand there with an incredulous look on her face. "Edgar is the castle and the whole thing is alive and sentient? I see. Excuse me for a moment, please."

Angelique will rush to inform Gladiator of this surprising development.

Lily stands there, a bit confused by Dr. Marin's reaction as the woman rushes off. She would think that someone in her position - being around metahumans all the time - would be used to this kind of thing. Oh well. Lily continues to wait around for the medical team to get set up so they can begin their examinations of her and Rose.

Before Edgar can finish his thought, a tremendous explosion rings out back on the mainland, but it is loud enough to be heard this far away. Those rushing to take a look can now see smoke rising from the Coronado area. It seems to be in the general vicinity of where the PRIMUS base is located…

As she loiters about in the medical area, the sound of an explosion knocks her from her reverie. Lily moves to the nearest window to take a look, noting the telltale plume of smoke from near where she had left her car. Trouble, no doubt. Lily moves to join Flux and the others to find out how they are going to react to the situation. She notices that Rose is floating around in the vicinity of Gladiator and Nemesis, and she instinctively moves protectively close to her child.

[Blackout]

Blackout:

As Blackout walks away from Gladiator, Frosty is curious about his acrobatic back ground he showed while fighting Edgar's inadequate warrior's he will approach him, "Blackout, Would you be able to teach me some of those moves you used in the castle earlier?"

"Of course I can," Blackout will reply. "I'm always looking to improve my own abilities, so I would never turn away someone who wanted to learn. I've never taught before, but I could make a go of it."

Things seem to fall into a routine of question and answer sessions for many on the island. Tesla does not seem to be a threat, but she couldn't have arrived at a busier time to seek out membership. Wonder if we will be getting more 'applicants' if we continue to be plastered across the news.

Suddenly there is an explosion some distance off. Blackout will move to find the rest of the team and see what can be learned and what we will be doing about it.

Post Continued:


Edgar:

"Sorry Gladiator, the explanation will have to wait. Edgar, what's happening out there?"

"As I started to say, I have been monitoring the local communications and several instances of superhuman or unusual activity has been noted. Several bodies were discovered downtown that were seemingly frozen to death in spite of the warm temperatures. A silvery woman with wings has been spotted flying over the city. I have a report of a large, red skin man washing up on the shores near Ocean Beach Pier. There are numerous other such minor reports that members of the Protectors have been dealing with."

"Lastly there is the explosion that we just heard. It seems to have originated at the PRIMUS base. I am also detecting unusually high levels of radiation that were not present before."


Psi-Lad:

"Pretending to do magic? If you are interested why not just go to the closest school for magic and learn it? I have just been told of a few notable mages who can be called by a fone. Do you have access to such a thing?"

Psi-Lad looks confused after those comments. "Uhm, sure, just about everyone has a phone. How could you not know that? And a school for magic? Are you trying to put me on? There is no such thing as that."

"Ah, yes a psionicist. I recall this. It is a relatively new discovery back home, only three generations or so have studied it. Non-magical effects, very controversial at first. Many mages insisted it was merely a new form of magic. Mind over matter? Yes?"

"Of a fashion, yes. I can read the minds of others, locate others, or even cause them pain. That's about it. There are far more psionics around here than mages."


Dr. Marin:

After speaking with Gladiator, Dr. Marin will return.

"How much do you know about this Edgar? We were never told anything about this, so you can imagine our shock about finding out that we're inside a sentient being. Is he dangerous? Why is he here?"

[Gladiator]

Gladiator:

"Sorry Gladiator, the explanation will have to wait. Edgar, what's happening out there?"

"Not good enough," Gladiator will retort. "We will not remain here until this situation is fully explained. None of this was in the reports we were forwarded. I cannot allow the medical staff to remain here until I know that they will be safe. No unit commander would deliberately leave his troops in a potentially harmful situation."

When the explosion is heard, Gladiator will say, "Archangel, Nemesis investigate what happened. Report your findings ASAP. We are here to assist as needed, but by the same token we expect honesty in return."

[Serena]

Serena:

Serena's response catches Archangel off guard. "Uhm, no I was just born with wings, so I'm a mutant and not divine."

"Ah, a member of a winged species of human. I understand now."

"I serve the Christian God, ma'am," the Deacon will answer with a slight southern accent. "But I am open to discuss matters of all faiths."

"I have not heard of such a deity", Serena will respond. But before she can question the priest further, an explosion rings out in the distance. Excusing herself, Serena will locate Flux. She finds him standing with Edgar and the one called Gladiator.

"It sounds as if many troubles have surfaced at once, friend Flux. Perhaps we can divide our forces to deal with these situations. Perhaps the Young Champions can assist as well?"

[Goldstar]

Goldstar:

Goldstar happily listens to all the talking that is going on. Then there is that nasty sounding explosion.

"If Edgar is right and there is radiation there, then I should go check it out! That stuff doesn't bother me a bit!"

Unless told otherwise, Goldstar will fly off to find the source of the explosion and the radiation. Noting that Nemesis and Archangel had been sent along as well, Goldstar will happily fly along with them.

[Sapphire]

Sapphire:

"A-zu-ri-an," she says, trying to pronounce the new word. "So you like to fight a lot? Don't you get hurt? My mom says violence only leads to people getting hurt."

"I am highly resistant to injury, small one. I fight for the joy of combating a skilled foe. Violence is engaging in battle against a foe who cannot fight back or who is without combat skill. There is no honor in such a thing."

After hearing what Lily says to Dr. Marin, Sapphire immediately takes on a far more defensive posture. She follows the physician to Gladiator.

"There is treachery afoot! We're inside a creature!"

Sapphire waits for Gladiator's orders to act and will retaliate should one of those present attack.

[Bruce]

Flux:

"Sorry Gladiator, the explanation will have to wait. Edgar, what's happening out there?"

"Not good enough," Gladiator will retort. "We will not remain here until this situation is fully explained. None of this was in the reports we were forwarded. "The frozen people sounds like Blue Steel or that man of fire and ice at work. The red man could be the former Red Steel. I thought PRIMUS took those two into custody?"

If something happened at PRIMUS....

"The explosion might have come from Major Star--and so could the radiation. I noticed he was humming with power the last time I saw him. And he was caught in the burst that affected the city too. I hope I'm wrong but he may have been altered by it."

With the entrance of the others:

"It sounds as if many troubles have surfaced at once, friend Flux. Perhaps we can divide our forces to deal with these situations. Perhaps the Young Champions can assist as well?"

"If Edgar is right and there is radiation there, then I should go check it out! That stuff doesn't bother me a bit!"

"Yes Serena, I'd like that too," with a look towards Gladiator.

"Goldstar, take Frostbite with you to the city. Watch out for Major Star just in case. He may be like the Steel Squadron was just after their changes!"

"Edgar, prep the transport for the rest of us-we're going now. Try to radio PRIMUS and let them know we're coming in. Also try that with the Protecters too. You'll have to warn us via radio if anything crops up after we leave."

Flux rubs his hand over his face briefly; this was going to be real work now.

"When we get across to the Ocean Beach Pier we take Big Red down fast, then go to assist at PRIMUS. Anything along the way gets handled as best we can. If the radiation is too high then we can't do much there. Same pairings as before unless the situation warrants a change."

Flux will wait briefly for a response from PRIMUS and anything Gladiator wants to say but only briefly.

[Bruce]

Nearly everyone has a 'fone' but there is no such thing as a school for magic?

"I know nothing of this realm young psionisist, so it must follow that I do not know what a 'fone ' is. I am sorry to hear there are no schools for magical study, but then how is magic taught here?"

More psionics than mages. And there are few mages. Very much the reverse of home.

"Where then do you study psionicsism? The initial disiplines are much the same in regard to.."

The rest of Eldrich's statement is cut off by the booming noise coming from the city as he swings around to look for the source of the sound.

"Excuse me again. I think it best if I return to the castle interior. Would you care to use the Folding Step spell with me?"

Whether or not Psi-Lad agrees, Eldrich will teleport back inside to find out what has happened in the city of wonders and terrors!

[Tesla]

Tesla:

This team is newer than I thought. The first time I heard about them was on yesterday's news, but it seems like they may not have been a team before then. Having met Flux and seen a few of the others, they appear to have calmed down to the point of nearly forgetting she is even around. Tesla watches as equipment is unloaded and numerous individuals, superhero or otherwise, dart back and forth carrying on conversations or carrying equipment.

Might as well look around then until it calms down somewhat. Tesla wanders the island grounds, getting a feel for it. She doesn't go inside the castle itself, observing only what she sees from open doorways as people hurry about.

Suddenly there is an explosion and everyone begins to mobilize. Tesla tries to get a good vantage point, but doesn't go too far as she wants to see what the Vigilant does and be nearby in case she is asked anything.

[Frostbite]

Give a kid a science kit and look what they turn into he thinks to himself. " A smile breaks out across his icy features, "I guess he is trying to make up for what he lacks. You know a personality,people skills......"




"Oh believe me, I know what you mean. With the way my powers work, I can kill pretty easily, so playing it safe is my motto too."





Frosty will give a nod in agreement.
A large Explosion rings out, curious about what has been happening looks for a good vantage point. There is a large smoke cloud billowing in the sky. "Holy *7%^, the Primus base is near there!"

Seeing Flux extent to full size and proceeds to call everyone near. Frosty skates over "What's the plan?"




"Of course I can," Blackout will reply. "I'm always looking to improve my own abilities, so I would never turn away someone who wanted to learn. I've never taught before, but I could make a go of it."





"Well I never had the desire to learn acrobatics until now. So we are in the same boat. I won't disappoint you."





"The frozen people sounds like Blue Steel or that man of fire and ice at work. The red man could be the former Red Steel. I thought PRIMUS took those two into custody?"




"If I remember right they did. But than again Green Steel seemed to be unharmed by the radiation. Maybe he took the other two into his custody to try to cure them."




"Goldstar, take Frostbite with you to the city. Watch out for Major Star just in case. He may be like the Steel Squadron was just after their changes!"





"Looks like its you and me." he says. He cant help but wonder what affect the radiation will have on him.

[Menagerie]

Lily:

"How much do you know about this Edgar? We were never told anything about this, so you can imagine our shock about finding out that we're inside a sentient being. Is he dangerous? Why is he here?"

Lily shrugs. "What I've told you is pretty much what I know. I got here only minutes before you arrived, just barely long enough to get introduced, scanned, and experiment with my new abilities a bit. Probably no more than an hour.

"To be honest, I was pretty surprised myself, but the others seem pretty comfortable with Edgar, and I have bigger concerns at the moment.

"Frankly, I'm pretty surprised by your reaction. You work with metahumans every day, and this throws you into some kind of panic?"

"There is treachery afoot! We're inside a creature!"

Lily glares at the big blue moron. This blatant prejudice really bugs her. "What treachery?! You're an alien, it's an alien. You're the one who professes to live to fight, it professes only peace and helping others. You are certainly the far greater danger here as compared to Edgar."

"Not good enough," Gladiator will retort. "We will not remain here until this situation is fully explained. None of this was in the reports we were forwarded. I cannot allow the medical staff to remain here until I know that they will be safe. No unit commander would deliberately leave his troops in a potentially harmful situation."

You have more experience with metahumans than anyone here. You have self-confessed aliens on your own team. What is so different about this alien that it suddenly denotes danger just by its very presence?"

Lily turns to Flux. "I'd like to help if I may. Rose should be safe here with Edgar, and Gladiator's friends - if they don't run off quaking in their paranoid little jackboots."

Rose:

"I am highly resistant to injury, small one. I fight for the joy of combating a skilled foe. Violence is engaging in battle against a foe who cannot fight back or who is without combat skill. There is no honor in such a thing."

"Uhm... okay," Rose replies, not certain whether Sapphire's statement made sense or not.

At Sapphire's subsequent aggressive response, Rose quickly flies over to Lily for safety. "Mom... they're scaring me."

Lily:

Lily does her best to console her daughter. "It's okay, Rose. I'm going to go help with the problems on the mainland. You stay here with Edgar, he'll take care of you. If Dr. Marin masters her fear sufficiently to stay here, then I'd like you to let her have a look at you. I'll be back as soon as I can."

[Bruce]

Flux

Lily turns to Flux. "I'd like to help if I may. Rose should be safe here with Edgar, and Gladiator's friends - if they don't run off quaking in their paranoid little jackboots."

Well said. Guess an ADA doesn't have to mince words!

"Very glad to have your help, Miss Pak, if you're sure. I would suggest you change your appearence just in case of witnesses. I'd also suggest you and Tesla pair up for this jaunt-unless Tesla can't work too closley with others?"

"With all do respect Flux, I'm not sure how the radiation Levels will affect me I'm not even sure I can go near there with out getting radiation poisoning or worse. Wouldn't I be better suited else where? Perhaps the unknown Ice elemental? If people are frozen to death I'm probably the safest one that can take it out with out harm to myself or others. But I will go with Star if you wish it."


If Flux does want him to go with Star to the radiation site he will ask Star to put him down near the outskirts of the base. Saying "Star drop me off near the outskirts. I'm not sure how the radiation will affect me, I'll go slow and walk in and If I feel as though I can take it Ill continue and meet you inside. If not Ill wait out where you dropped me off."

[Menagerie]

Lily:

"Very glad to have your help, Miss Pak, if you're sure. I would suggest you change your appearence just in case of witnesses. I'd also suggest you and Tesla pair up for this jaunt-unless Tesla can't work too closley with others?"

"Yes, I'm sure," Lily replies. "Tesla. That would be the newcomer, right?

"Oh, and Edgar mentioned several problems. Which would you like us to address?"

After getting Flux's reply, Lily approaches the woman with the electrical display. "Hi, I'm Lily Pak. Flux has asked that we work together. Are you ready to go?"

[Serena]

Serena:

"Gladiator, no one is in danger from Edgar. He is a pacifist and a medical expert. Stay or go it's up to you. None of the information was given out to the public about Edgar so as to protect him from harm. If you have any questions-ask him!"

The Knight is a bit surprised and perhaps disappointed as well at the responses given to Gladiator over his concerns about Edgar.

"My friends, I must confess that I am at a loss over your annoyance and open hostility towards such a simple and logical question. Are these not the very same questions we ourselves were asking recently? What is Edgar? Is he a threat or not? And now we treat others who ask the very same thing with scorn and hostility?"

"The one called Gladiator was simply seeking to insure the safety of the medical staff here to help others. Is it all that different that Lily seeking to protect Rose? I think not."

Turning back to Gladiator and his chargers, "As my companions stated, the existence of Edgar was something we sought to conceal from others who may take advantage of him. That is why you were not informed about his existence as those you were in contact with are also unaware of his existence. The strange happenings that caused all the problems in this city also brought Edgar here, but under the thrall of others who would use his abilities to do evil. That last bit was said looking at Sapphire.

"But the time for talk has ended. There are those who need all of our assistance. Let us not squabble while there are innocents who need our assistance."

"So, my friends, how shall we divide our forces to investigate these goings on?"

[Goldstar]

Goldstar:

"Goldstar, take Frostbite with you to the city. Watch out for Major Star just in case. He may be like the Steel Squadron was just after their changes!"

"Oooh, that would not be nice!"

"Looks like it's you and me." he says. He can't help but wonder what affect the radiation will have on him.

"With all do respect Flux, I'm not sure how the radiation Levels will affect me I'm not even sure I can go near there with out getting radiation poisoning or worse. Wouldn't I be better suited else where? Perhaps the unknown Ice elemental? If people are frozen to death I'm probably the safest one that can take it out with out harm to myself or others. But I will go with Star if you wish it."

"Frosty does have a point. If the radiation is harmful to him, then he shouldn't go with me. Perhaps just Nemesis and myself?"

[Sapphire]

Sapphire:

Lily glares at the big blue moron. This blatant prejudice really bugs her. "What treachery?! You're an alien, it's an alien. You're the one who professes to live to fight, it professes only peace and helping others. You are certainly the far greater danger here as compared to Edgar."

Sapphire will glare at the small woman with the big words.

"I have no idea what this Edgar profess to be, since it has yet to speak. It could be controlling you all, subverting you to its will. As a member of the Sanctuary Security force, it is my duty to protect them from any danger I perceive. That means everyone here is a potential danger until they are proven otherwise. Including yourself."

Yes, there is more then a bit of a hint of menace in that last part.

"I accept your word of honor, from one warrior to another. The only violence here will be that started by others. I will happily clean up any problems that may arise."

[Gladiator]

Gladiator:

If Gladiator is annoyed over the way this thing has gone done, he does not show it in the least. Finally, the one they call Serena actually goes into answering the question posed rather then sprouting attitude.

"I find your words reassuring, Serena, and will set the issue aside for the time being. The Young Champions are here to render aid and assistance as needed. This is your home turf. How do you propose we divide our forces to deal with these multiple threats?"

Before departing, Gladiator will speak to Sapphire. "Remain here on guard. Others may arrive seeking treatment and examination. Not all may be friendly."

[Nemesis]

Nemesis:

"Well, if we're all done posturing here, let's get to work!"

"Frostbite does have a point. If there are dangerous levels of radiation present, then only myself and Goldstar should investigate it. It won't bother us, but the rest of you are not as fortunate."

"We've got headsets for communication, so we can all keep in contact with each other. So what's it gonna be?"

[GM Mad]

GM Notes:

Edgar:

"Edgar, prep the transport for the rest of us- we're going now. Try to radio PRIMUS and let them know we're coming in. Also try that with the Protectors too. You'll have to warn us via radio if anything crops up after we leave."

"Of course, sir. I will isolate the frequency of their communication headsets too allow communications with each other. I the mean time, I will go introduce myself to the doctors and reassure them of my intentions. My medical equipment is far more advanced then what they arrived with. Best of luck, sir and madams."


Psi-Lad:

"I know nothing of this realm young psionisist, so it must follow that I do not know what a 'fone ' is. I am sorry to hear there are no schools for magical study, but then how is magic taught here?"

"Oh, that explains a great deal of things then", Psi-Lad says with a sigh. "I guess magic is much the same as being psionic. You can either can do it or you can't. No instruction is involved."

"Where then do you study psionicsism? The initial disiplines are much the same in regard to.."

The rest of Eldrich's statement is cut off by the booming noise coming from the city as he swings around to look for the source of the sound.

"Excuse me again. I think it best if I return to the castle interior. Would you care to use the Folding Step spell with me?"

Whether or not Psi-Lad agrees, Eldrich will teleport back inside to find out what has happened in the city of wonders and terrors!

"Oh, sure, I guess. It won't hurt will it?"


Dr. Marin:

Lily shrugs. "What I've told you is pretty much what I know. I got here only minutes before you arrived, just barely long enough to get introduced, scanned, and experiment with my new abilities a bit. Probably no more than an hour.

"To be honest, I was pretty surprised myself, but the others seem pretty comfortable with Edgar, and I have bigger concerns at the moment.

"Frankly, I'm pretty surprised by your reaction. You work with metahumans every day, and this throws you into some kind of panic?"

"One must always be cautious when dealing with the unknown, Ms. Pak. Yes, I have met aliens, but none of this size, so this is a new experience. I am not panicking, but rather am simply being cautious. If anything, I am surprised at just how easily you accepted this considered just how concerned you are with your daughter."

"PRIMUS and Sanctuary have never had what you would call a good relationship, so that they summoned us to help was something of a surprise. So, yes there is some nagging doubt about the sincerity of their request and this situation did play into that."

"Everything may just be as you describe it to be, but then again, you may have been deceived. Many have taken advantage of the generosity of Sanctuary, so we are a little bit gun shy when it comes to taking things at face value. Since Gladiator has deemed it safe to stay, we shall and try to work with Edgar. Rose will be fine here."

"Not to PRIMUS, Frostbite-just the city. This makes room on the transport and keeps you from having to drop your cold effects-and the identity concealing white. We'll link up again afterwards."

Flux looks around at everybody coming in.

"Let me emphisize this: no going near the PRIMUS base until we know more about the situation. Only radiation-proof people need apply!"


"Tesla, you and Miss Pak try to locate the winged woman. She has a vocal-based attack but is physically weak. Frostbite, we have two possible cold-based attakers out there. The former Blue Steel and that Fire & Ice man so hook up with Eldrich and Serena to try to track them down. Get the locations of any cold related attacks and head there."

"Blackout, you and I will head to the ocean beach pier for the Angry Red Man. After we collect him we'll have to take him with us. Gladiator who's available for this and who is staying besides Sapphire?

Somehow, I knew you would ask that young sir. No time like the present to demonstrate the basics of magic!

"No indeed the effect is painless as we merely step through folded space. Grasp my shoulder and you will move with me. And at some later point in time I would like to use your 'fone' to contact the other mages of your realm if you will permit it. How much does it cost to reach these mages?"

Eldrich smiles to himself; this boy was much like his own early days as a novice, never knowing if the spells would work quite right. But now was no time to tease the lad. The noise was too much like the sound of a fragment impacting into another for comfort. And while it could not be that, anything else was possible here.

Everyone on the Young Champions is available, outside of Sapphire who is mainly here as personal security for the doctors. This would include: Gladiator, Archangel, Nemesis, Psi-Lad, White Crane, and Polaris. Metalla and the Deacon are non-combatants. Of the six, only Archangel and Nemesis can fly.

BTW: Coronado is mostly due south of the castle, while Ocean Beach Pier is to the northwest. The mainland is to the east, so if Goldstar flies Frostbite to the mainland, she's going to be making a trip out of her way.
Coronado is a pennisula like spur coming off the mainland and it connects much further to the south, so dropping him off on Coronado just puts him all that much further away from the mainland then when he started. Not an issue, just wanted to clairify the logistics of things.

Flux looks to Gladiator for info on the capabilities of the Young Champions in regard to cold immunity or ranged attacks. ( i.e. Polaris is an unknown and White Crane seems to have no ranged attacks )

"Gladiator, I suggest you take some of your people downtown; that seems to be the most active area and the most vunerable. Depending on what we find out, our forces will move either to the PRIMUS base or further into the downtown area."

This all seems rather too coincidental to me. Everybody loose and active at the same time! And what happened to the Warlord, Queen and Magus we sent off to custody? Dead, escaped, or responsible for some of this?

Flux

Flux looks to Gladiator for info on the capabilities of the Young Champions in regard to cold immunity or ranged attacks. ( i.e. Polaris is an unknown and White Crane seems to have no ranged attacks )

Nemesis is the only one with a measure of cold resistance and a genuine ranged attack. Psi-Lad can attack at range as well mentally. Polaris and Crane are primarily HTH combatants.

[Blackout]

Blackout:

"Blackout, you and I will head to the ocean beach pier for the Angry Red Man. After we collect him we'll have to take him with us.

Blackout nods and waits as the final pieces are sorted out. He has everything he needs, requiring no additional preperation time.

As he waits, Blackout can't help but think about how the two teams did not hit it off right away. Not just himself, but with several of the others as well. He wonders if all teams have problems co-existing with one another or if they are just the special ones in this instance.

[Tesla]

Tesla:

"Very glad to have your help, Miss Pak, if you're sure. I would suggest you change your appearence just in case of witnesses. I'd also suggest you and Tesla pair up for this jaunt-unless Tesla can't work too closley with others?"

"I do not cause any harm to anyone unless specifically trying Flux," Tesla replies.

After getting Flux's reply, Lily approaches the woman with the electrical display. "Hi, I'm Lily Pak. Flux has asked that we work together. Are you ready to go?"

"Sounds fine with me," Tesla replies, "I am ready to go." That being said, Tesla concentrates and electrical arcs begin to appear around and from her body until finally she begins to hover above the ground. A short distance up, she waits for Lily, seeing if she will be able to join on her own free will.

"Tesla, you and Miss Pak try to locate the winged woman. She has a vocal-based attack but is physically weak.

"Understood Flux," Tesla will call down from her hovering position. Once they are on the move, she will begin scanning the skies for a winged woman.
