Crucible #24 - "Humanitarian Relief"


While Lily is out experimenting with her various water forms, Edgar will keep everyone else up to date. Rose will fly around after her mother, but keeps out of the water. She laughs as she chases mom and Goldstar around.

"The contingent from Sanctuary will be arriving shortly. Their aircraft has set down at the PRIMUS Base and they will be reaching the castle by way of water transport. I hope that everything will be satisfactory to their needs."

Not too long after that, a pair of PRIMUS water transports can be seen approaching baring people and equipment. In short order, the transports move to dock near the east end of the island. You can see a wide variety of colorful individuals on the transports and even a trio flying overhead.

The first of these is a young man held aloft by a pair of large white feathery wings. He wears a gold and white costume with a halo on his chest. Flying with him is a pair of blonde haired young women. The first wears a teal costume with white and black trim. Her arms and feet are bare, but she wears a pair of tinted goggles and golden wrist bands.

The other young blonde woman does not attempt to conceal her identity. She wears a pink top with blue trim, boots, and matching short skirt. She wears a blue headband and there is a stylized letter 'N' above her heart in white.

Those seeing the woman in teal are slightly surprised, as she bares more then a strong resemblance to the woman who called herself Galeforce who appeared yesterday at the saucer site. She doesn't have winds whipping about her or the look of madness to her as Galeforce did.

The boats dock and the unloading begins. The trio of flyers lands and begins helping. A man wearing what appears to be ancient roman gladiator style armor approaches bearing a box. He goes to greet those watching.

"I am Gladiator from Sanctuary," the tall man states. "We were told that we may use this-- castle-- as a place to set up our relief efforts. Who do I have the pleasure of speaking too?"

After being told that this is indeed the right place and being shown where to set up their gear, the unloading will begin in earnest. Gladiator will introduce those with him.

"Those in costume are all members of the Young Champions program that I mentor," the armored man will state in an even tone. "Archangel is the one with the wings, Tempest was the flying girl in teal, while the other in pink is Nemesis."

"That is Sapphire." Gladiator points to an unusually tall blue skinned woman who is ridiculously muscular that is carrying a huge crate. She easily stands seven feet tall!

"Tigress." An attractive and athletic young woman with long brown hair appears next. She wears an orange and black tiger stripped outfit complete with teeth styled accessories. She goes barefoot and those seeing her will do a double take as she seems familiar, but no one can place her just yet.

"White Crane." Next is a small woman, just barely over five feet in height with short black hair. She appears to be Japanese at first glance, but her eyes lack the traditional Japanese appearance suggesting a mixed ancestry. She wears a white tights with gold trim and matching white slippers. She carries a six foot long well worn staff with her.

"Psi-Lad." A teenage boy is next who is not physically impressive in the slightest. He wears a white outfit with blue and gold trim. Thick goggles covered his eyes.

"And lastly Polaris." Stepping off the transport is a young man in green and blue. He appears solidly built and there's a slight humming sound around him.

"Next is our medical staff. Our chief medic is Dr. Angelique Marin." He points to an attractive blonde haired woman in her early thirties of average height.

"Also on the staff is Dr. John Brinton." Dr. Brinton has dark brown hair and eyes, stands just over six feet tall, and appears in his late thirties.

"Our nursing staff, Nurse Compton and Nurse Chang." Compton is an older woman, late forties perhaps, of average height and a little bit overweight. Chang is much younger, late twenties, small and thin with dark hair and eyes.

"The spiritual advisor of Sanctuary, the Deacon." The Deacon is a man in his late forties with thinning brown hair. He's currently wearing a suit with a string tie and doesn't appear to be very exceptional.

"And lastly, the coordinator for this endeavor, Metalla." What is most striking about Metalla is that her skin, hair, and eyes are all entirely silver in appearance. She is wearing a professional looking skirt and blouse combination, but no shoes. Metalla appears to be a metal statue that has come to life. She seems extremely nervous near the shoreline and quickly moves deeper into the castle.

Turning back to you, the Gladiator will say, "The reports we received have been sketchy at best. What transpired here?"

GM Notes:

Roughly six weeks have passed since the last Young Champions file the groups appearance here. There have been changes during that time and at least two major storylines have taken place. (Things for future issues of YC.)

Terra Fire is no longer part of the group and is now a member of the Defenders up in Los Angeles. White Crane is a new character who will first appear in Young Champions #26. Psi-Lad had a brief appearance as part of the Rat Pack in the Superior Seven mini-series. Polaris will first appear in a major story in future issues of the Avengers.

Now what?

[Bruce]

Flux:

"We've got electricity and cold storage and open space, Edgar. If anything else is needed they'll have to tell us."

"How do you do. I'm Flux, current leader of the Vigilant. Welcome to Castle Vigilant. Pass me some boxes and I'll show you where to set up. This is Edgar, our Major-Domo. He can provide answers to technical questions for your equipment requirments."

"The short version? A demonic incursion with ritual sacrifice clashing with energies for the forced growth and mutation of six subjects in a flying saucer which resulted in unpredictable and widespread physical changes to buildings and people and about two thousand dead-with the total still going up."

Well that took a lot of breath!

"The long version involves magic, Monsters, and time inversions. Let me introduce the team and start the unpacking before we go into that."

"I mentioned Edgar before but he bears repeating as he is in charge inside the castle. Consult with him about your equipment placements as the castle is his and we are here as guests."

"The flying woman is Goldstar, one of the subjects from the saucer. She posseses the attributes of a star including bright light and energy bursts."

"This woman is Lady Serena of the Order of the Golden Chalice to use her full title. Also a subject from the saucer, she is a skilled warrior with a blade."

"The man in white is Frostbite. He was in Horton Plaza when things started to go wrong and acquired ice and cold powers as a result."

"This man calls himself Blackout. He's a skilled hand-to-hand combatent with the power to bring up darkness around himself."

"Our resident wizard is the man in the green cloak. He calls himself Eldrich Arcane."

"This woman is Miss Lily Pak and her daughter, Rose. They are not members in our newly formed team but they do have powers and are here to see your specialists. Miss Pak was near the demonic incursion like Frostbite was."

"And I'm Flux. I actually have only a little more time in than the others as I came into my abilities a few weeks ago. I control my size and density for the most part though there are hints of other effects possible to me."

I left out descriptions on purpose as you all should do that yourselves. Likewise I didn't elaborate on powers\abilites. Let them find out for themselves!

[Frostbite]

Frostbite


Frosty watches in surprise as Lily begins to change forms beneath the water of the docking area. Even more surprising is that she does not need to come up for air in fish form. Apparently she takes on the qualities of those she mimics. As she rises from the water she ask while gasping for air. "How did I do?"

"That was amazing! How did it feel?" He can't help but wonder if she can mimic animals how she would handle coping people as well. "Have you tried People as of yet?"

Soon after Edgar says we will be expecting company by way of the waterway. A few minutes later two transports can be seen coming to the island. He also makes out 3 Flying figures above the boats. As he and the others await their arrival he cant help but wonder, "We still don't have adequate food supplies for ourselves. How are we going to support them as well?"

As Gladiator makes introductions of his people as well as himself, Frosty will look them over. Of all the gifted people Gladiator leads two strike is curiosity. The man with feathery wings jutting from his back whom goes by the name Arch angel and the other Sapphire whom has a purplish skin tone and is carrying what appears to be a very heavy crate.

Taking his Leader's actions into account he will offer his help as well, though he will keep his distance from the new arrivals as to not to chill em out of their skin. When introduced "Its a pleasure to be working with you."

When the time comes to describe what happened during the crisis he will try to recall everything he can about the initial meetings that granted him his powers. Adding to what Flux has said " There was a criminals as well one of which when by the name of Affrighter. Ever hear of him?" If he has he will ask him if they know of maybe any other "metahumans" that associated with him.

[Goldstar]

Goldstar:

When Lily is ready, Goldstar leaps into the water and follows her around and then out into the bay. Goldy tries to keep up with Lily as she keeps shifting forms and quickly begins to enjoy trying to catch Lily. Even better Rose joins us and Goldstar will fly up into the air and fly around with her little friend.

"Well, how did I do?"

"That was fun! Let's do it again!"


Returning to the castle, Goldstar notes a bunch of new arrivals showing up. She goes up to greet them in her typical fashion. Goldstar dries off quickly thanks to her own internal heat.

"Stellar!", Goldstar cries out upon seeing Archangels white feathery wings. "Those are so cute looking!"

"Hi! I'm Goldstar!", she quickly adds as she flies in with the others. "I've got solar powers!"

Introductions are made and Goldstar can't help but do a double take at two of those present! At least they don't seem dangerous as of yet, but Goldstar can't be sure.

"Welp, Flux has part of it right. There were four of us created by the saucer. Serena and myself, and a pair that look suspiciously like Tempest and Tigress there! Cute costume by the way! Anyway, we were all artificially created beings for some evil purpose no doubt. But me and Serena were nice, while the other two, Galeforce and Wildcat, were not nice! You look like them, but Galeforce had winds whipping around her while Wildcat was all fuzzy with a tail. How can that be?"

Goldstar's appearance:

Those looking see a gorgeous woman with long blonde hair blowing in the breeze. Her skin is also gold in color, as if deeply tanned. She wears a skintight costume that consists of thigh-high boots with heels that are red in color. The rest of her costume is a bodysuit without the leggings. It is mostly in red, but the shoulders and trunks are dark blue in color. Large golden bracers are on each arm. What are really noticeable are the little sparkles of light that flutter around her. They are not so bright in the daytime, but would stand out greatly at night. The bubbles just further enhance her beauty and innocence.

[Serena]

Serena:

Serena is extremely impressed as she watches Lily frolicking out in the bay.

"That was most impressive, my friend. There seems to be few limits to your ability to become other creatures. You could be a powerful force for right in this world should you choose to pursue it."

The Knight will look on with interest as the new arrivals show up. Serena will covertly look at their aura's to determine if they are tainted or not. To her relief none are evil, but not all of them are as pure as they could be. She is amazed to their varied appearances and choice of clothing, but makes no mention of it.

Serena's hand will go to her sword upon seeing the one called Tempest, but will release it since she does not appear malevolent in spite of her appearing as the wild woman called Galeforce.

"Well met all of you," Serena will call out. "I am Serena, a Knight of the Order of the Golden Chalice. I bid you welcomed to this troubled city."

Serena takes liking to this Gladiator from first sight. He appears to be a most skilled warrior and wears a type of armor for protection. He is clearly the oldest present and no doubt the most skilled of combatants.

The others are a curious puzzle at first glance. The one dubbed Archangel flies upon feathery wings. Serena can't help but wonder if his wings were a divine gift or not.

The abilities of most of the others are not obviously apparent except for a few. Tempest and Nemesis possess the power of flight. Tigress has a wild, feral look to her suggesting some relation to the cat of the same name.

Sapphire is a great curiosity. Her great size and strength suggests just one thing to the Knight. She'll fearlessly step up to the woman and question here. "Excuse me, comrade. Perhaps you would be a small frost giant?"

White Crane appears to be of a nationality unknown to Serena. Curious. Serena doesn't know what to make of this 'sigh-lad'. It is obvious that he is not a warrior of any type based on his puny appearance. Must be a wizard.

Polaris is likewise a mystery, including the strange humming that accompanies him.

Serena is cordial to the doctors and nurses, although they don't appear to be priests as she was expecting.

The last surprise is the woman made entirely of silver metal! How amazing! A golem of some type perhaps?

Serena will be polite and cordial to all who speak to her.


Description: Serena stands five foot five in height. Her hair and eyes are brown in color. She wears medieval looking chain mail armor that covers most of her body. Over this she wears a white tabard, a garment that covers her front and back down to her knees, but has no sides. On the front of the tabard is the image of a golden chalice. Her sword belt keeps the tabard in place. On her feet she wears worn knee high brown boots with the cuffs folded down. Large gloves of nearly the same color almost reach her elbows. Serena wears a silvery headband that serves to keep her hair out of her eyes. She is attractive in her own way and those close to her can feel pure goodness radiating from her.

[Menagerie]

Lily:

"If you mean ' how did I do?' on the shape-changing, only you can judge, although the dolphin looked good. I will say that you did very well in not drowning. Spectacular success there."

Lily smiles at The Vigilant's earstwhile leader. "I'm rather pleased with that part myself. And thank you for letting me know about the dolphin; I can't really see myself very well, so I can only concentrate on an image in my mind and hope that my body makes the necessary changes."

"Seriously though I think you did very well. Any Ill effects?"

Lily pauses for a moment to think back. "No, not that I'm aware of, though we'll see what the doctor says. In some ways, my body feels so alien in those other forms, that it's hard to know how it should feel."

"That was amazing! How did it feel?" He can't help but wonder if she can mimic animals how she would handle coping people as well. "Have you tried People as of yet?"

Frostbite's questions draw Lily's attention. "It felt... strange. I don't really know how to describe it. Each form has it's own sensations, and many seem quite alien. I suspect it will take me some time to get used to it all.

"And yes, I have tried mimicing people. It seems to work pretty well. Let me know if you recognise this one." Concentrating for a moment, Lily shifts her form to the best approximation of Major Star that she can manage. "How does this look?"

"That was fun! Let's do it again!"

Lily is pleased that Goldstar and Rose were able to get in on the fun during her little experimentation session. She smiles at the sparkling woman. "I'm sure we'll get plenty of chances to do more of that soon enough."

"That was most impressive, my friend. There seems to be few limits to your ability to become other creatures. You could be a powerful force for right in this world should you choose to pursue it."

"Thank you, Serena. I'm beginning to see what you mean. These new abilities seem to provide me with a lot of flexibility. It remains to be seen just how long it takes me to get a real handle on what I can do and how best to go about using them. I suspect I have a long road ahead of me."

Climbing to her feet, Lily greets the man named Gladiator from Sanctuary as she is introduced by Flux. "A pleasure to meet you, Gladiator. My daughter and I both underwent some fundamental changes yesterday, and we are looking forward to speaking with your medical experts. I exchanged emails with Metalla last night, and so have come here for this purpose. As you might imagine, I have grave concerns about my daughter's health."

Lily listens as Gladiator intoduces the rest of his crew. The Young Champions are interesting, though probably moreso to Rose, who flies over to talk with Archangel and Nemesis, and any others that seem friendly. Noting the familiar looks of Tempest and Tigress, Lily will pause to look at them carefully, shifting her senses through as many different modes as possible to ensure that there is no deception. Lily's attention is then drawn to the medical team, whose names she quickly memorises. She is also pleased to see that Metalla is hear, and determines to speak with her later.

"If you will excuse me," she says with a polite smile to Gladiator and Flux, Lily proceeds inside to seek out the medical team.

Appearance:
Lily is a somewhat-pudgy asian woman of middling height. Brown eyes peer out from a round face framed by straight, shoulder-length black hair. She appears to be in her thirties, and generally dresses conservatively, though with style. Today she is wearing a pair of stylish designer jeans and patterned green polo shirt. A silver chain is draped around her neck, from which dangles a silver cross. Matching earrings adorn her ears.

[Blackout]

Blackout:

Blackout will stand near Flux as the introductions are made and the conversations ensue. He will reach out to shake Gladiator's hand and greet him, "Hello, I'm Blackout."

Otherwise Blackout will remain pretty quiet, but will offer up any assistance should it be needed in unloading or showing anyone around. Blackout seems to take note of the others about, but doesn't really pay much attention to appearances. He did, of course, join the group a bit later than the other members, and may not have put together the similiarities of some of these heroes with some of the less-than-savory individuals the others had engaged.


Blackout is dressed in a body costume that seems like it would blend in with the cityscape at night. The colors of black, steel and concrete can be subtley detected. Above the elbows and knees the costume is tied off with black cord of some sort, the extra length of cord after the knots trail down like streamers. He also wears a half-mask which hides the top and back of his head and his eyes are covered with opaque lenses.

[Gladiator]

Gladiator:

"How do you do. I'm Flux, current leader of the Vigilant. Welcome to Castle Vigilant. Pass me some boxes and I'll show you where to set up. This is Edgar, our Major-Domo. He can provide answers to technical questions for your equipment requirements."

"Flux, Edgar.", Gladiator will respond with a handshake and a follow up one to Edgar. "I can't say that I've heard of the Vigilant before, but its been a while since I've been in the states."

"The short version? A demonic incursion with ritual sacrifice clashing with energies for the forced growth and mutation of six subjects in a flying saucer which resulted in unpredictable and widespread physical changes to buildings and people and about two thousand dead-with the total still going up."

"Small wonder the reports we had received failed to make much sense," Gladiator agrees. "While fantastic, they are not unbelievable. I've seen many strange things over the years."

Gladiator will take the time to shake the hands of those introduced to him, if they allow or if such an action is not damaging as in the case of Frostbite. Gladiator and the Young Champions will assist in getting the equipment unloaded and put into place.

"There was a criminals as well one of which when by the name of Affrighter. Ever hear of him?" If he has he will ask him if they know of maybe any other "metahumans" that associated with him.

"Affrighter has been around for a long time", Gladiator will relate. "From what I've heard he's a madman out to gain personal power. It is also said that he is one of the Blood. I know of no regular associates, just temporary alliances of convenience."

Climbing to her feet, Lily greets the man named Gladiator from Sanctuary as she is introduced by Flux. "A pleasure to meet you, Gladiator. My daughter and I both underwent some fundamental changes yesterday, and we are looking forward to speaking with your medical experts. I exchanged emails with Metalla last night, and so have come here for this purpose. As you might imagine, I have grave concerns about my daughter's health."

"Ah, yes, Metalla did mention you and your daughter, Ms. Pak. Nice to meet you as well. The staff will be ready to examine you as soon as they've set up their equipment. I can assure you that you are in good hands."


Gladiator is a fit man in his early forties. He stands 6'4" and weights 250 lbs. He wears traditional Roman gladiator style armor.

[Sapphire]

Sapphire:

Once on the island, Sapphire will begin to transport the heavier equipment to the set up area. Once that task is complete, she will secure the area to ensure the doctor's safety.

At the introductions, Sapphire will eye the one they call Serena. "I am Sapphire De Cerulean", she will announce, "Warrior of the First Caste. I look forward to the opportunity to battle beside you."

Sapphire is a great curiosity. Her great size and strength suggests just one thing to the Knight. She'll fearlessly step up to the woman and question here. "Excuse me, comrade. Perhaps you would be a small frost giant?"

"No, I am an Azurian. What is a frost giant? Are they skilled warriors?"

Description: Sapphire stands seven feet tall and weights 400 lbs. Her skin is sky blue and color, while her hair is the color of the ocean. She is ridiculously muscular and is more exotic looking then attractive. She wears a skintight black top with matching shorts and boots.

[Nemesis]

Nemesis:

Jennifer will happily chat with Tempest as we fly along to the strange castle in the middle of the bay.

"That's not something you see every day," Jennifer will note.

Seeing someone flying up from the castle towards us, Jen can't tell if it is a friend or a foe. So she'll give the target the once over and be ready to blast her if necessary.

"Stellar!", Goldstar cries out upon seeing Archangels white feathery wings. "Those are so cute looking!"

"Hi! I'm Goldstar!", she quickly adds as she flies in with the others. "I've got solar powers!"

Jennifer can't help but groan upon hearing that! To Tempest she'll say, "Please tell me that I didn’t sound like that at first too."

Unfortunately, she can't. "I wonder how you put up with me before I grew up," Nemesis says aloud shaking her head.

Landing with the others, Nemesis is there as the introductions are made. Some of the things cause some alarms to go off in Jen's head.

"Are you saying that there were four artificially created beings from this saucer? And that two of them seemed superficially similar to Tempest and Tigress? Oh boy…"

"Basically I'm also an artificially created person and I was 'born' about six months ago. ATLAS was behind all of that, but we wiped them out a while back, so they can't be involved in this. But Malachite's goons did take DNA samples of both Tigress and Tempest a few months back. Perhaps Malachite used those samples to create clones of both Tempest and Tigress? Although that doesn't explain where the Knight and Bubbles here came from."

Seeing Rose fly around, Jennifer can't help but smile at the flying tike. "Wow! I've never seen someone so young with super powers. Boy, Ms. Pak, you have my sympathy. I hope she turns out better than Turbo did."

After the discussions and introductions are finished, Jen will assist the doctors in getting the equipment set up and helping out with the examinations as necessary.

Nemesis appears to be a typical teenager with blond hair and blue eyes. She stands 5'5" in height and weights 112 lbs. Her costume consists of a pink top with blue trim, boots, and skirt. She wears a blue headband and a short white cape.

(And for those familiar with the YC files, Jen has gone through some significant changes between then and now.)

[Bruce]

Eldrich Arcane:

Eldrich is on hand to greet the strangers as they arrive on the dock, looking for any traces of magic. Finding none he conceals his disappointment and assists with shifting crates and equipment to the inside via the Folding Step spell.

Such a diverse peoples live in this realm. Winged folk and blue giants and more pale ones all gifted with these strange 'powers'.


When Gladiator offers to shake hands Eldrich reaches for a forearm grip-too far up the arm for a proper handshake-a mistake he will have to be told about sometime.....

Flux is somewhat embarrassed by Goldstar's correction; hadn't there been more than four people in the saucer? Still as he wasn't there he won't contradict Goldstar.

" 'Bubbles' as you call her is only a day old so make the appropriate allowances please. And Serena, like Arcane is from elsewhere."

Kids! Always so quick to judge.

"I expect Malachite didn't prepare for a demonic troop preparing ritual sacrifice to bring up a 'Neither Lord' anymore than the demons prepared for a burst of radiation from a flying saucer.
Nobody got what they wanted out of that deal."

"Gladiator, pardon me for asking but wasn't there something about white radiation outbreaks in New York a few months ago? Was ATLAS behind that too?"

(Having neglected my own discription preveously I provide it now. Just that lack-of-sunlight time of year again causing synaptic mis-fires.)

Flux stand at 5' 11" with a lean build. He is wearing a dark sleevless tee shirt and camo pants with heavy workboots and has camo paint in stripes on his face. His dark hair is crew-cut short and currently he is employing two Ace bandages wrapped around his knees.

Lily can shape shift and make herself look like Major Star.

Both Archangel and Nemesis will be friendly with Rose as she flies to inspect each of them.

Dr. Marin will introduce herself to Lily. "Hello there, I'm Dr. Marin. You must be the Ms. Pak that Metalla spoke about. Let me get my equipment in place and then I'll see what I can find out about you and your daughter. She's an adorable child."

[Serena]

Serena:

The Knight speaks to Sapphire.

"No, I am an Azurian. What is a frost giant? Are they skilled warriors?"

"A frost giant is a race of a very tall and powerful beings back from where I hail from. They are dangerous foes in combat. I cannot say that I have ever heard of an Azurian, so perhaps it is merely a coincidence."

"As a Warrior of the First Caste, then you must indeed be a great warrior. I too look forward to fighting side by side on the field of honor. Alas, there seems to be many opportunities for battle these days."

[Goldstar]

Goldstar:

"Stellar!", Goldstar will cry out when she hears that Nemesis is also an artificial person. "So I'm not the only one like me around here. I guess that we're sisters in a fashion! That would make you my older sister!"

Goldstar will happily give Nemesis a big sisterly hug. "So what kind of powers do you have? I'm like a star with solar powers. I can fly faster than the speed of light and survive in space. I can project various solar-like energy effects. I don't need to eat, sleep, or breathe as my body converts hydrogen into energy like a hydrogen reactor. I won't get sick or ever grow old."

[Sapphire]

Sapphire:

"A frost giant is a race of a very tall and powerful beings back from where I hail from. They are dangerous foes in combat. I cannot say that I have ever heard of an Azurian, so perhaps it is merely a coincidence."

"These frost giants seem like powerful warriors, so I would take your statement as a compliment. Indeed, perhaps we shall encounter these frost giants one day. It would be a glorious conflict!"

"As a Warrior of the First Caste, then you must indeed be a great warrior. I too look forward to fighting side by side on the field of honor. Alas, there seems to be many opportunities for battle these days."

"I eagerly await the opportunity for battle," Sapphire will agree. In the meantime, Saph will help transport the gear and make sure the area is secure for the medical staff.

[Nemesis]

Nemesis:

Jen will politely greet the others who present themselves, Blackout, Eldrich, Flux, Serena, etc. She'll spot Frostbite in back and be intrigued by such an unusual looking man.

"Hi! Why are you hiding back there?"

With that Jen will step towards Frostbite.

"Believe me, sir, I can relate to Goldstar extremely well. She's almost like me just a few months ago. Childlike, naïve, and easily distracted. Everyone thought I had amnesia at first, but I just didn't have any memories. My mind was like a partially clean slate. I absorbed some of Nightingale's persona into myself and later received even more memories that pushed me into a more adult state that you see before you now."

Nemesis hears the Serena & Arcane being from elsewhere comment, but doesn't ask just what elsewhere would be at the moment.

"Gladiator, pardon me for asking but wasn't there something about white radiation outbreaks in New York a few months ago? Was ATLAS behind that too?"

Jen will step in and field this one for Gladiator. "No, that was not ATLAS related. You see, that white radiation exists in a separate, but extremely close dimension from ours. The energy can seep into our dimension at weak points between the boundaries. The boundaries can be weakened by the use of energy weapons and fields."

"In my mind, here's the most likely scenario for what happened. Malachite took an interest in myself, Tempest, and Terra Fire for the way we were given superpowers by ATLAS. Medical reports on all three of us were stolen from Sanctuary and Tempest was even examined by Malachite's goons."

"That gave Malachite knowledge of the white energy and what it could do to genetic structures. The other numerous bursts of white energy have always seemed to grant super powers to those around them. Such as creating Dreadnaught and Guardian Angel and numerous others."

"My guess is that Malachite decided to test out this method for himself using four samples. He must have calculated that a weak boundary layer between dimensions existed here in San Diego and attempted to use it to create his four artificial beings."

"Obviously, something went wrong and the Tempest and Tigress copies came out wrong, while Goldstar and Serena were changed into something not expected at all. But that's just a guess."

"Stellar!", Goldstar will cry out when she hears that Nemesis is also an artificial person. "So I'm not the only one like me around here. I guess that we're sisters in a fashion! That would make you my older sister!"

"Yeah, I guess you could say that in a weird way." Jen will find it extremely odd to be on the receiving end of a hug these days!

Goldstar will happily give Nemesis a big sisterly hug. "So what kind of powers do you have? I'm like a star with solar powers. I can fly faster than the speed of light and survive in space. I can project various solar-like energy effects. I don't need to eat, sleep, or breathe as my body converts hydrogen into energy like a hydrogen reactor. I won't get sick or ever grow old."

"Well, my powers are a bit unpredictable. My body analyzes any foe and automatically determines what his weakness is. Then I can generate that attack at them. That's why they gave me the name Nemesis.

Jen listens as Goldstar rattles off the list of her superpowers and can't help but notice the similarities. "Wow, I guess we really are alike. Other then me needing to sleep and eat, we're both just about immortal. Cool. I think I like that."

[GM Mad]

GM Notes:

"Excuse me, sir," Edgar will say to Flux. "But it looks like another guest is arriving."

Edgar will point out one of the castle's windows back towards the shoreline. Most don't spot what Edgar is indicating at first, but a few do. Flashes of electricity are what is spotted first surrounding a distant figure.

As the figure draws closer, you can make out that it is a young woman with electricity playing about her body. Lily can tell that it is not Electra, the woman she fought the day before who also had electrical powers. The woman is flying directly towards the castle…


Now what?

[Menagerie]

Lily:

"Ah, yes, Metalla did mention you and your daughter, Ms. Pak. Nice to meet you as well. The staff will be ready to examine you as soon as they've set up their equipment. I can assure you that you are in good hands."

"Thank you, Gladiator," Lily replies, having reverted to her own form. However, based on what Edgar said earlier, she decides to put his idea to the test. When she reverts, she shifts to the thinner, more athletic form she takes when using her speed and strength powers. It will be interesting to see if she can train herself to take this form naturally. "I'm sure they will be able to ease my concerns greatly."

Seeing Rose fly around, Jennifer can't help but smile at the flying tike. "Wow! I've never seen someone so young with super powers. Boy, Ms. Pak, you have my sympathy. I hope she turns out better than Turbo did."

Lily grins at the young woman. "Parenting has many challenges, Nemesis, but I suspect this may have just kicked the bar up a notch. Still, Rose is a very good kid, and hopefully she'll get enough exposure to other metahumans that she won't feel like a freak."

A curious expression appears on her face. "Who is Turbo, and what happened with him?"

Dr. Marin will introduce herself to Lily. "Hello there, I'm Dr. Marin. You must be the Ms. Pak that Metalla spoke about. Let me get my equipment in place and then I'll see what I can find out about you and your daughter. She's an adorable child."

"Ahh... Dr. Marin. A pleasure to meet you. Thank you, Rose is very special. I know I may come across as a hypochondriac, but I've never been involved in metahuman events before, and it's all very new to me. And as a parent, I can't help being anxious when something I don't understand happens to my child. Hopefully, it will turn out that my fears are unfounded, and I can go about finding proper training for Rose and myself."

Lily will continue to chat with Dr. Marin and Dr. Brinton while the equipment gets set up, being careful to stay well out of the way.

As she waits, she notes the approaching figure in the distance. At first, she fears it may be Elektra come looking for some payback. However, she finds that by amping up her senses as far as they will go, she can soon determine that this is indeed not the same woman. Not wanting to leave the medical area, Lily will wait until later to make acquaintance with the newcomer.

[Tesla]

Tesla:

Finding the island and castle didn't prove to be as hard as previously thought. Of course, with the additional recent arrivals there it made finding it a lot easier. Tesla surveys the damage evident from yesterday's events on her way out to the island. Things always look worse in person Tesla thinks somberly.

She will begin to slow her descent and the electricity arcing its wild dance across her body begins to slow consideribly. Tesla begins to look for members of the Vigilant that she saw in the televised reports. She chooses a spot in the open and makes a landing.

Those approaching her will she a young woman with the build of an athlete. Tesla is wearing military-style fatigues and boots with a shirt tied in a fashion that shows off her stomach and abdomen. Electricity plays along her skin, making it tough to judge its color and complexion. Arcs of electricity also seeming emerge from her eyes, making it impossible to tell their coloration. Her hair, which is cut short and frames her face, is the easiest to determine in color, which is brown, as there is little in the way of electricity playing along the top of her head.

Tesla will wait until approached before doing anything further, unless a significant amount of time passes with no contact, in which case she will make her way around the castle to look for an enterance.

[Bruce]

Flux:


Listening to Nemesis (Jen) explain the history of white radiation usage, genetic manipulation and alternate dimensions gives him flashbacks to Goldstar's expounding of tesseracts.

Oh yes, definitley a resemblance here.


"So if Malachite was behind the saucer event then there are four people who he has a strong interest in acquiring back, and two of them are right here. Couple that with the effects of the magic burst and the 'specimens' take on even more interest."

"If you're right about boundries being thinner or weaker here that explains the demonic attempt at summoning too. I wonder if the timing wasn't coincidental after all. Might just have been the best time for both purposes."

At Edgar's alert Flux will turn to spot the incoming visitor.

"OK everyone, let's go greet the new arrival carefully so as not to startle her into anything."

Umm, practical gear, bit like mine, noting the fatigues and boots , but then who needs flash with all that arcing going on.


"Welcome to Castle Vigilant, Miss. Are you here to see the Santcuary medical team?"

Flux will offer his hand in spite of the electric arcs. Must be polite after all!

Going to have to start filling out scorecards soon if I want to keep up...

[Bruce]

Eldrich Arcane:


Eldrich is facinated by the new arrivals. While most seem to be of the pale race others are most certainly not. He tries to listen to every conversation at once while looking at every person. This only serves to make him look distracted and confused until the subject of amnesia comes up.

Eldrich homes in on that mention of memory trouble, only catching the last bit.

"Is this a commen occurrence to have memory loss in this frag- realm? And what happens to those who suffer from it?"


Like the others, Eldrich will turn to watch the new arrival land.

Another amazing being! And controlling lightning! Most likely without any magic as well....

Eldrich floats down to the new guest, admiring the control of one of the most powerful, difficult, primal elements known to magic.

[Blackout]

Blackout:

Blackout will listen to the various conversations and notice how several members of each team seem to strike up conversations easily and that instant bonds almost seem to exist.

When an opportunity arises, Blackout will seek out Gladiator, "I have a question for you if you don't mind. Are you an expert in martial prowess as your name suggests or is it just because of the flashy outfit?" Blackout will smile and keep his tone good humored. Despite the sarcasm and joking, he is curoius about the other man's skill.

"The main reason I ask is because I enjoy seeing how my fighting style fares against others. I guess it's the competitive nature I inherited," Blackout will offer. Depending on Gladiator's answer, Blackout will ask if there is any interest in an opportunity to spar if time and circumstance permits.

Upon hearing news of a new arrival, Blackout will make his way out to the castle grounds and take up a good position should this turn to conflict. He will note the energy coming off of the yet-to-be-identified woman and try to judge her intentions by her stance and body language.

[Tesla]

Tesla:

The wait is not a long one as several individuals that Tesla remembers seeing from the televised reports emerge from the castle. Once she has landed, the electricity arcing off her body slowly fades until completely gone, revealing a golden tan one would expect a native of California to possess. The electricity continues to arc from her eyes however, and makes no apparent indication of slowing down or stopping.

"Welcome to Castle Vigilant, Miss. Are you here to see the Santcuary medical team?"

Flux will offer his hand in spite of the electric arcs. Must be polite after all!

"Actually, I'm here to see you, well all of the Vigilant to put it properly," Tesla replies as she takes Flux's hand and shakes it firmly. Flux feels no electrical shocks coming from her handshake, but he still couldn't guess her eyecolor if his life depended on it.

"You can call me Tesla. I was wondering if your team might be considering recruitment, in which case I would like to discuss it. Otherwise, I'm here to offer any aid I can to this city's citizens."

[Bruce]

Flux:


"Well, Miss, er Tesla we would appreciate any help you can lend us. As to joining, we're a group of volunteers right now, no formal structure exists yet. If you want to be here, you're here."

"Do you plan on moving in or do you have quarters in the city?"

(Flux has not noted any duffle bags or backpacks.)

[Frostbite]

Frostbite





Frostbite's questions draw Lily's attention. "It felt... strange. I don't really know how to describe it. Each form has it's own sensations, and many seem quite alien. I suspect it will take me some time to get used to it all.

"And yes, I have tried mimicing people. It seems to work pretty well. Let me know if you recognise this one." Concentrating for a moment, Lily shifts her form to the best approximation of Major Star that she can manage. "How does this look?"


"That's outstanding! His own mother wouldn't be able to tell the difference. That is if your voice didn't give you away."

Gladiator begins to tell Of Affrighter's affiliates and partners.


"Affrighter has been around for a long time", Gladiator will relate. "From what I've heard he's a madman out to gain personal power. It is also said that he is one of the Blood. I know of no regular associates, just temporary alliances of convenience."

" I'm sorry, I'm a bit new at this. Who or What is the Blood?"

The Blonde girl known as Nemesis begins to tell her tale of her origins.

"Are you saying that there were four artificially created beings from this saucer? And that two of them seemed superficially similar to Tempest and Tigress? Oh boy…"

"Basically I'm also an artificially created person and I was 'born' about six months ago. ATLAS was behind all of that, but we wiped them out a while back, so they can't be involved in this. But Malachite's goons did take DNA samples of both Tigress and Tempest a few months back. Perhaps Malachite used those samples to create clones of both Tempest and Tigress? Although that doesn't explain where the Knight and Bubbles here came from."





"Perhaps this Malachite altered the DNA samples to his liking to create in his eyes a better version of the original?"




Jen will politely greet the others who present themselves, Blackout, Eldrich, Flux, Serena, etc. She'll spot Frostbite in back and be intrigued by such an unusual looking man.

"Hi! Why are you hiding back there?"

With that Jen will step towards Frostbite.

"Hello," he will give a slight smile and laugh and stepping back a step." I'm not hiding from you. I merely didn't wish to harm you or any of your friends." Seeing her curious look he will elaborate. "Yesterday I was at Horton Plaza when the white radiation wave hit us. When I awoke I was as you see me now. There are a few drawbacks to the abilities I was granted with. One of these is that I radiate intense cold and those that get to close become colder and colder and if you were to touch me you would get stuck. Although I don't have to stay in this frozen form all the time."

"The powers that the radiation granted me with are cold based. And I have found that I can generate ice and snow. If you consider all these factors you will see why I took on the name of Frostbite."




"Excuse me, sir," Edgar will say to Flux. "But it looks like another guest is arriving."

Following the finger of Edgar Frostbites eyes can not see anything at first but than he begins to see a few flashes of electricity and a form with in them "Who's this?" he cant help but wonder as he walks a little closer trying to make out the person.

She soon lands and arches of elecrticity bounce around her form and most strangely her eyes.

Advancing with the others in the intent on greeting Flux greets the young women.



"You can call me Tesla. I was wondering if your team might be considering recruitment, in which case I would like to discuss it. Otherwise, I'm here to offer any aid I can to this city's citizens."


Hearing Flux's answer he will simply say, "Welcome aboard Telsa, I'm Frostbite."

[Tigress]

Tigress:

The nervousness in the pit of Tigress' stomach gnaws at her during the entire flight from Sanctuary. Some sort of disaster has occurred back in her home town and new supers are popping up everywhere. She can only hope that her family is safe…

"That wasn't there before," Tigress says of the strangely out of place castle in the middle of North San Diego Bay. "That's our destination? Weird."

That's a worry for another time. Tigress brings the jet in for a landing at the PRIMUS Base near Coronado. The transporting of equipment from the jet to the water transports seems torturously slow. Finally we're on our way and arriving at the mysterious island. The island smells strange and it only adds to Tigress' skittishness.

The unloading process begins and is quickly finished thanks to the help of the island natives, a bunch of supers that were not in San Diego the last time Tigress was.

She's getting ready to depart when she hears this:

"Welp, Flux has part of it right. There were four of us created by the saucer. Serena and myself, and a pair that look suspiciously like Tempest and Tigress there! Cute costume by the way! Anyway, we were all artificially created beings for some evil purpose no doubt. But me and Serena were nice, while the other two, Galeforce and Wildcat, were not nice! You look like them, but Galeforce had winds whipping around her while Wildcat was all fuzzy with a tail. How can that be?"

"What a minute! What are you talking about? Someone who looks like me but with fur and a tail? What's up with that?"

And then Nemesis speaks up:

"Are you saying that there were four artificially created beings from this saucer? And that two of them seemed superficially similar to Tempest and Tigress? Oh boy…"

"As interesting as this is, I'm taking off, Sarge. I've got to make sure my family is safe first."

Glancing at Tempest, Tigress will say, "Give me a ride back home?"

Assuming Tempest aggress, she and Tigress will take off immediately.

[Tempest]

Tempest:

"So this is San Diego", Tempest says to herself as she looks out of the jet window. "Not bad looking."

After the mundane task of unloading and loading, Jess is flying towards the very much out of place castle in the middle of the bay with 'Wings and Jen. At least she's not so annoying since 'growing up' from what ATLAS did to her.

Approaching the island, a tall blonde haired woman seemingly surrounded by glowing sparkles flies up to greet us.

"Stellar!", Goldstar cries out upon seeing Archangels white feathery wings. "Those are so cute looking!"

"Hi! I'm Goldstar!", she quickly adds as she flies in with the others. "I've got solar powers!"

"I'm sure you are…", Tempest mutters under her breath. Somehow she reminds Jess of the way Jen was at first. The thought of two of them is almost too much to think about!

Jennifer can't help but groan upon hearing that! To Tempest she'll say, "Please tell me that I didn’t sound like that at first too."

"Nah," Tempest will answer. "You were worse."


We land and introductions are made and they seem to have Tigress and myself confused with someone else…

"Are you saying that there were four artificially created beings from this saucer? And that two of them seemed superficially similar to Tempest and Tigress? Oh boy…"

"That son of a--", Tempest curses aloud. "I knew something bad was going to happen from all that prodding and poking! So now I've got a loony clone on the loose calling herself Galeforce? Geez, what a lame name! Well, at least I don't have fur and a tail…"

"As interesting as this is, I'm taking off, Sarge. I've got to make sure my family is safe first."

Glancing at Tempest, Tigress will say, "Give me a ride back home?"

"Sure thing."

Tempest will pick up her friend and begin to fly back to the mainland.

"Don't wait up, Sarge!", she'll call out as they fly off.

GM Notes: Other Voices

Archangel:

"Stellar!", Goldstar cries out upon seeing Archangels white feathery wings. "Those are so cute looking!"

"Hi! I'm Goldstar!", she quickly adds as she flies in with the others. "I've got solar powers!"

"Bon jour, mademoiselle", Archangel answers in a slight French accent. Jean Paul can't help but stare at Goldstar as she flies closer and introduces herself. What a stunning woman! Tall, blonde, and beautiful. The glitters that sparkle about her only enhance her looks.

"I am pleased that you find my wings so attractive. I am most proud of them. Perhaps I could show you them closer some time?"

Once on the ground, Archangel will reach out and kiss the back of Goldstar's hand. "And now a proper greeting for one so lovely by a French gentleman."


Moving into the castle, Archangel will be cordial to all the others. He'll kiss Serena's hand when meeting her. There's just something special about the armored warrior that can't help draw Archangel's attention. There's a strong presence about her, an aura of goodness that just makes Jean Paul want to trust her.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Serena", Archangel will gallantly state as he kisses her hand. "I see that you carry a sword. I use a broadsword myself. Perhaps we can compare techniques at a later date?"

Archangel is drawn away from the lovely warrior by a flying child and her gentle laughter. "Why hello there, little one. It is amazing to find such ability in one so young."

"Is she your child," Archangel will say to Lily.

For the most part Archangel will stay out of the way. He lacks the strength the others possess when it comes to moving the equipment about and is content to observe and greet the members of the Vigilant.

When the electric woman arrives after us, Archangel will wave at her in greeting, forgoing the kiss as he has no desire to be shocked.


Description:

Archangel stands 5'10" tall and wears a gold and white costume with a halo on his chest. His long hair is platinum blond in color and he has blue eyes. He is rather handsome.

White Crane:

The White Crane will greet each person with a dignified bow of respect. She says little unless spoken to, but continues to observe her environment for any signs of treachery towards members of her extended clan.

When the electric woman arrives, White Crane will hold her staff tightly and be prepared for battle, but does not act unless she is aggressive in nature. She does not appear to be hostile, and Crane eases up.

White Crane will wish Tigress good fortune and hopes that her family is unharmed before they depart.


When an opportunity arises, Blackout will seek out Gladiator, "I have a question for you if you don't mind. Are you an expert in martial prowess as your name suggests or is it just because of the flashy outfit?" Blackout will smile and keep his tone good humored. Despite the sarcasm and joking, he is curious about the other man's skill.

Upon hearing this, and completely missing the joking nature in the man's voice, White Crane rushes to Gladiator's defense. She interposes herself between the two men and holds her staff before her.

"Most Honorable Gladiator is the foremost martial artist in the world and it would do you well to treat him with respect. If you seek to do battle with him, then you will need to get past me first!"


Description:

White Crane stands barely over 5' tall. She has lean, lithe body with excellent muscle tone. At first glance, White Crane appears to be Japanese, but she is of a mixed heritage. Her eyes lack the traditional oriental oval shape and are brown in color. Her black hair is cut short. White Crane wears a white costume with gold trim and white slippers. She carries a well worn staff that is taller than she is.


Polaris:

Polaris mainly helps out in transporting the equipment. He bears their weight easily, and it should be easy to tell that he is stronger than a normal human, but nowhere near Sapphire's class. He'll greet the others with a cheerful, "Hey, how are you doin'?" as he carries out his task.


Psi-Lad:

Psi-Lad mainly stays out of the way and seems to be on the shy side.

Psi-Lad does seem astonished when Eldrich begins to move the crates from one place to another, seemingly by magic. It is puzzling as he can't detect any mental powers in action.

"Excuse me, sir," Psi-Lad says to Eldrich, "But how are you doing that?"

Psi-Lad tries not to stare at the beautiful Goldstar, but it is difficult. Serena is even more enchanting and the powerful feeling of goodness around her is almost puts Psi-Lad into a trance. He is in awe of the woman warrior.


Lily/Frostbite:

When Lily changes into Major Star, her voice changed to match his as well.

[Frostbite]

Frostbite

Frostbite's questions draw Lily's attention. "It felt... strange. I don't really know how to describe it. Each form has it's own sensations, and many seem quite alien. I suspect it will take me some time to get used to it all.

"And yes, I have tried mimicing people. It seems to work pretty well. Let me know if you recognise this one." Concentrating for a moment, Lily shifts her form to the best approximation of Major Star that she can manage. "How does this look?"

"It looks outstanding!! Even his own mother wouldm't be able to tell the difference. And Your voice even changed!"
"Think you could cover me at work once in a while." he will say with a smile across his face.

[Gladiator]

Gladiator:

Gladiator makes no note of Eldrich incorrectly attempting a handshake. A proper handshake can vary from culture to culture after all.

"Gladiator, pardon me for asking but wasn't there something about white radiation outbreaks in New York a few months ago? Was ATLAS behind that too?"

Nemesis steps into answer that question as she has far greater insight into the situation then he does. "Nemesis accurately describes the situation, Flux. She and Nightingale of the Avengers are close acquaintances and learned much about the New York incidents. As I recall, they were more like unexpected side effects rather than a deliberate act."

Gladiator observes the arrival of the Tesla, but takes no actions of his own. She could be another member of the Vigilant for all he knows.

"Thank you, Gladiator," Lily replies, having reverted to her own form. However, based on what Edgar said earlier, she decides to put his idea to the test. When she reverts, she shifts to the thinner, more athletic form she takes when using her speed and strength powers. It will be interesting to see if she can train herself to take this form naturally. "I'm sure they will be able to ease my concerns greatly."

"That is our hope. If you find yourself in need of spiritual reassurance, you may wish to speak to the Deacon. He would be more than happy to discuss your current situation."

"I'm sorry, I'm a bit new at this. Who or What is the Blood?"

"The Blood are a family of mutant-like beings who come from another dimension. Some are on the side of good, some are bad, and still others are indifferent. I believe the best known member of the Blood is Firestar of the Defenders."

When an opportunity arises, Blackout will seek out Gladiator, "I have a question for you if you don't mind. Are you an expert in martial prowess as your name suggests or is it just because of the flashy outfit?" Blackout will smile and keep his tone good humored. Despite the sarcasm and joking, he is curious about the other man's skill.

"The main reason I ask is because I enjoy seeing how my fighting style fares against others. I guess it's the competitive nature I inherited," Blackout will offer. Depending on Gladiator's answer, Blackout will ask if there is any interest in an opportunity to spar if time and circumstance permits.

Upon hearing this, and completely missing the joking nature in the man's voice, White Crane rushes to Gladiator's defense. She interposes herself between the two men and holds her staff before her.

"Most Honorable Gladiator is the foremost martial artist in the world and it would do you well to treat him with respect. If you seek to do battle with him, then you will need to get past me first!"

Gladiator regards Blackout without any sign of emotion. He is not surprised with White Crane interposes herself. Her strong desire to protect those she considers part of her clan is one of her defining character traits, but one that is wholly unnecessary in this instance.

Gladiator says something to White Crane in Japanese. Her response is as equally brief. White Crane bows and then walks away.

"Forgive my student. She is sometimes overprotective of other members of the Young Champions. As for your question, I have mastered a wide variety of martial disciplines. I have no problem in measuring your skill at a suitable time and place."


When Tigress and Tempest depart, Gladiator will say, "Keep in touch." He is not surprised that they departed as Tigress' family lives in San Diego.

[Serena]

Serena:

Serena continues to mingle with the new arrivals. Upon hearing that the one called the Deacon is one to turn to for spiritual guidance, the Knight will approach the man. "Forgive me for being forward, but am I to understand that you are a Priest? To which god do you serve?"


Serena eyes the arrival of the woman with the light flashing about her. The Knight can see that the woman is not evil and does not expect trouble. She will fearless walk up to the new arrival and introduce herself. "I am Serena, Knight of the Order of the Golden Chalice. I bid you welcome."

"Actually, I'm here to see you, well all of the Vigilant to put it properly," Tesla replies as she takes Flux's hand and shakes it firmly. Flux feels no electrical shocks coming from her handshake, but he still couldn't guess her eye color if his life depended on it.

"You can call me Tesla. I was wondering if your team might be considering recruitment, in which case I would like to discuss it. Otherwise, I'm here to offer any aid I can to this city's citizens."

"Well, Miss, er Tesla we would appreciate any help you can lend us. As to joining, we're a group of volunteers right now, no formal structure exists yet. If you want to be here, you're here."

"If you are willing to stand with us, Tesla, then I bid you welcome", Serena will state. "Clearly our skills will be needed to assist those in need."

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Serena", Archangel will gallantly state as he kisses her hand. "I see that you carry a sword. I use a broadsword myself. Perhaps we can compare techniques at a later date?"

Serena will permit the kissing of hands, as it something she is familiar with but does not expect. "Blessed Salvation is far more than a simply blade, friend Archangel. It is a holy weapon imbued with the power of my god to go forth and do good deeds in the world. Combat training is always a desirable thing. I look forward to sparing with you."

"Are you a real angel sent down from on high? Do you have divine abilities?"

[Sapphire]

Sapphire:

Saph notices the new arrival and will watch her for the first sign of treachery. Since none appears to be forthcoming, she returns to her guard duties and will watch as the doctors put their equipment together.

The one named Lily stands close by while her offspring flies about the nearby area.

"Why are you so big and blue", the little girl asks.

"Why are you so small and pink?", Sapphire counters curiously.

[Goldstar]

Goldstar:

Jen listens as Goldstar rattles off the list of her superpowers and can't help but notice the similarities. "Wow, I guess we really are alike. Other then me needing to sleep and eat, we're both just about immortal. Cool. I think I like that."

"Can you fly in space too? I visited the sun a little bit ago!"


When the new arrival is spotted, Goldstar will fly up to greet her. "Hi, I'm Goldstar! Who are you?"

"I am pleased that you find my wings so attractive. I am most proud of them. Perhaps I could show you them closer some time?"

Once on the ground, Archangel will reach out and kiss the back of Goldstar's hand. "And now a proper greeting for one so lovely by a French gentleman."

Goldstar doesn't really know what to make of all of this. She'll return the greeting kiss Archangel's hand back in turn. "I was unaware of this type of greeting. How interesting! I can see your wings quite closely now. Why should I wait until later on?"

[Nemesis]

Nemesis:

Lily grins at the young woman. "Parenting has many challenges, Nemesis, but I suspect this may have just kicked the bar up a notch. Still, Rose is a very good kid, and hopefully she'll get enough exposure to other metahumans that she won't feel like a freak."

"Having her mom around can only help. Actually, I have to admit that I'm unsure just what it's like to be a child. I mean, much like your Goldstar, I was 'born' as I am now. Pretty much a child's mentality inside an adult body. The adult mind came in a little bit later."

A curious expression appears on her face. "Who is Turbo, and what happened with him?"

"Turbo was another member of the Young Champions until he quit. He was a hyperactive mutant and a speedster. However is body aged twice as fast as normal. So while he was only ten years old, he looked like he was twenty. Unfortunately, his intellect just advanced like normal, so he was a ten year old inside the body of a twenty year old."

"His parents couldn't deal with him any more and ask Sanctuary to care for him. They accepted and things seemed okay for a time. Turbo even bonded with a caretaker on Sanctuary who also had superspeed."

"Turbo was something of a brat and never really got along with anyone or followed orders all that much. He abandoned the team while we were in El Paso and fell into the wrong sort of crowd. I'm not sure what happened to him after that."

"Can you fly in space too? I visited the sun a little bit ago!"

"I try to avoid flying in space, personally, although I've done it once by accident, Goldstar. If you've been to sun and back, you can fly a lot faster in space then I can."

"So if Malachite was behind the saucer event then there are four people who he has a strong interest in acquiring back, and two of them are right here. Couple that with the effects of the magic burst and the 'specimens' take on even more interest."

"That is very possible," Nemesis will agree. "In fact, given the way this whole thing happened, it's quite possible that Malachite would be interested in anyone changed by the accident. He'd probably want to see how they tick. No, he's not real nice guy and I doubt that he'd ask before trying to examine anyone."

"Is this a common occurrence to have memory loss in this frag- realm? And what happens to those who suffer from it?"

"No, amnesia isn't all that common. Typically, it occurs in two ways. One is some traumatic event that the mind tries to block out or a blow to the head can damage the brain. Typically it just wears off over time."

"Amnesia was not my problem for lack of memories. I simply didn't have many memories to draw from to begin with."

"Perhaps this Malachite altered the DNA samples to his liking to create in his eyes a better version of the original?"

"That is very possible. Probably trying to create his dream girl or something diabolical like that."

"Hello," he will give a slight smile and laugh and stepping back a step." I'm not hiding from you. I merely didn't wish to harm you or any of your friends." Seeing her curious look he will elaborate. "Yesterday I was at Horton Plaza when the white radiation wave hit us. When I awoke I was as you see me now. There are a few drawbacks to the abilities I was granted with. One of these is that I radiate intense cold and those that get to close become colder and colder and if you were to touch me you would get stuck. Although I don't have to stay in this frozen form all the time."

"The powers that the radiation granted me with are cold based. And I have found that I can generate ice and snow. If you consider all these factors you will see why I took on the name of Frostbite."

"Yeah, that makes a lot of sense, Frostbite and I can see your concern. However, several of us probably wouldn't be affected by your cold aura. I can survive in space, so it shouldn't be any problem to me. Sapphire and Tempest probably wouldn't be bothered by it either. Everyone else, I'd keep your distance from."


Before Tempest and Tigress take off, Nemesis will wish them well. "I hope your family is okay, Tigress. Don't be stranger, okay?"


When Goldstar flies off to investigate the electrical woman, Nemesis will go after her. "I'll keep on eye on her."

Goldstar doesn't really know what to make of all of this. She'll return the greeting kiss Archangel's hand back in turn. "I was unaware of this type of greeting. How interesting! I can see your wings quite closely now. Why should I wait until later on?"

Oh boy! Romeo is at it again. Nemesis will step in to rescue her 'baby' sister. "She's not your type, Jean Paul, so push off before I do something you won't like."

Jen will pull Goldstar away from Archangel and try to explain what was really going on. Boy, is that going to be a chore!

[GM Mad]

"Ahh... Dr. Marin. A pleasure to meet you. Thank you, Rose is very special. I know I may come across as a hypochondriac, but I've never been involved in metahuman events before, and it's all very new to me. And as a parent, I can't help being anxious when something I don't understand happens to my child. Hopefully, it will turn out that my fears are unfounded, and I can go about finding proper training for Rose and myself."

"It is a very understandable reaction to your situation, Lily. Were I in your shoes, I'd be concerned about the health of my child as well. She seems healthy and happy, so that is a very good sign. With your permission, I'll run a full battery of tests on her once the equipment is in place. X-Rays, an MRI, blood tests, and a DNA sample. Hopefully they'll be able to tells us what we need to know about Rose."

[Blackout]

Blackout:

Blackout feels he needed to say something in there, but the Japanese just throws him off completely that he lets the whole incident slide by. Regaining his composure, Blackout offers, "No really, it's quite alright. I meant no offense, trying to keep it light and all. I've learned though that if I have to explain I'm joking it's too late by then."

Blackout tries to shake off dwelling on the minor blunder and continues, "I definitely am extremely interested now. Let me know when the time is right for you."

With that, he nods to Gladiator and leaves, letting him focus on the various tasks at hand.

[Bruce]

Eldrich Arcane:

Psi-Lad mainly stays out of the way and seems to be on the shy side.
Psi-Lad does seem astonished when Eldrich begins to move the crates from one place to another, seemingly by magic. It is puzzling as he can't detect any mental powers in action.
"Excuse me, sir," Psi-Lad says to Eldrich, "But how are you doing that?"

Eldrich turns to the young man, a 'scilad', at the question.

"I am using the Folding Step spell young sir. It is a common method of travel between the world fragments where I am from. This method and the slow moving barges are the only ways to move people and trade goods through the aeither. In this instance I am not going very far, just to the inside of the castle. Are you interested in magic?"

He would be about the right age for the end of an apprenticeship and preparing for journeyman studies if they had magic here. I wonder if they even have mages in this realm?They do not seem to need them for anything.



Eldrich & Nemisis

"Ah, thank you young lady. But my memory block is magical in nature, done to me by another.
Do you have any skilled in the Arcane Arts with you?

[Bruce]

Flux:

Glancing at Tempest, Tigress will say, "Give me a ride back home?"
"Sure thing."
Tempest will pick up her friend and begin to fly back to the mainland.
"Don't wait up, Sarge!", she'll call out as they fly off

Sarge!! How did-?

Looking up in suprise Flux can see at once that the young woman called Tempest did not mean him, but Gladiator.

Easy there. Let's not give away any more than we can help.


Blackout & Gladiator

Flux can't help but be amused by Blackout's statement; Gladiator is rather famous after all!

Should be interesting to watch. Blackout's darkness might give him an unexpected edge too.
Hurm, maybe I'll ask for a few pointers later on. Can't hurt to learn from the best.

After the quick resolution, Flux excuses himself to meet the incoming visitor.

[Menagerie]

Lily:

"That is our hope. If you find yourself in need of spiritual reassurance, you may wish to speak to the Deacon. He would be more than happy to discuss your current situation."

Lily ponders this information for a moment. "Thank you for the information, Gladiator. While I am not the most devout believer, it is possible this Deacon may be able to help settle my frazzled nerves."

"Thank you, Frostbite," Lily replies. "Without a mirror or anything to see what is happening or make changes, I have to rely on my memory. And I have no way to check the details. It is interesting that my voice changed along with my form. I didn't particularly try to do that, so it must be a function of the power. From what I can tell, I get the physical abilities of whomever I copy, though I don't know if that extends to powers.

"I suppose I shall have to try that out as well at some point..."

"Is she your child," Archangel will say to Lily.

Lily smiles at the young man. "Yes, she is," she says, a note of pride in her voice. "This is my daughter, Rose, and I am Lily. Did I hear Gladiator say your name was Archangel."

"I'm sorry to hear that," Lily replies. She is particularly disturbed by the boy's abandonment by his parents. It is hard for her to imagine any parent doing that. "This must have been very hard on the boy. I hope he gets a chance to find the love and support he needs before he gets himself into a mess he can't get out of."

The young girl is obviously enjoying flying around and meeting everyone on the island, particularly the Young Champions. At the same time, she seems a bit shy when actually speaking to them. She is particularly fascinated by Tempest and Tigress, who look like the bad metahumans they saw the previous day. Unfortunately, she is too young to understand all this talk of cloning and whatnot.

When she encounters Nemesis, she smiles. "You fly too, like me. I think flying is fun! Don't you?" Rose whirls and twirls around gracefully in the air.

Archangel is drawn away from the lovely warrior by a flying child and her gentle laughter. "Why hello there, little one. It is amazing to find such ability in one so young."

"Uhh... hi. I'm Rose," she says, shyly, but happy to talking to the angel-guy. "The white light yesterday made me this way. Edgar says I'm cosmic, like Goldstar."

"Why are you so big and blue", the little girl asks.

"Why are you so small and pink?", Sapphire counters curiously.

Rose giggles. "Most people are pink - or brown, or yellow or red. But I've never seen any blue people. Are their other blue people? Where do the blue people live?"

Rose will wave sadly as Tigress departs with Tempest. She hopes they will come back, though she understands Tigress wanting to go see her mommy and daddy.

Eventually Rose makes her way to Gladiator. "Uhm... Gladiator? Are you the Young Champions' teacher? Can I be a Young Champion? I want to learn my powers and do exciting stuff."

Again, not a response Jean Paul was expecting. Where did they find these two at? Before Archangel can say anything, Nemesis sticks her nose in where it doesn't belong.

"Just being friendly to our hosts, Jen. Nothing to get excited about."

Lily smiles at the young man. "Yes, she is," she says, a note of pride in her voice. "This is my daughter, Rose, and I am Lily. Did I hear Gladiator say your name was Archangel."

"That is correct, mademoiselle. Mainly because of the angelic like wings I was born with."

"Uhh... hi. I'm Rose," she says, shyly, but happy to talking to the angel-guy. "The white light yesterday made me this way. Edgar says I'm cosmic, like Goldstar."

"Hello there rose. The white light made you an adorable child? How lucky for you!", Archangel will say with a grin on his face. "Cosmic like Goldstar? In what way?"


Psi-Lad:

That response really comes as a surprise to Psi-Lad. The speaker sound too sincere to come across as playing a joke on him. For a brief instance, I consider reading his mind to find out, but decide against such a misuse of powers.

"I've honestly never heard of such a thing. I have a certain interest in magic, mainly from Role Playing Games. I was always playing some type of wizard."


Dr. Marin:

"Thank you, Dr. Marin. At the very least, you should be able to tell me if there are any problems that need to be addressed," she says. "Inevitably, knowing is better than not knowing. At least then you can take steps to start to address the problem.

"If there is one," Lily adds, not wanting to sound fatalistic. "Edgar has already examined her with it's / his sensors and he believes that she is in good health. Still, it will be reassuring to get that opinion verified by a human doctor specializing in metahumans."

Dr. Marin will turn and look at Lily with a surprised look upon her face. "Are you saying that the gentleman in the butler suit already scanned Rose to examine her? How did he do that? Where's his equipment located at?" Angelique is genuinely confused by this. It sounds like this Edgar has access to technology current beyond what exists on Earth!

[Goldstar]

It is not surprising that Goldstar doesn’t quite grasp what's going on here. Even with Nemesis explanation, it still doesn't make much sense. But Goldstar feels she can trust Nemesis since they are so much alike, so will go along with her in this matter.

Eventually Rose makes her way to Gladiator. "Uhm... Gladiator? Are you the Young Champions' teacher? Can I be a Young Champion? I want to learn my powers and do exciting stuff."

"Yes, I am their mentor, Rose. It is understandable to want to properly and safely use your new abilities, but joining the Young Champions is up to your mother, not me. You would need her approval first."

[Nemesis]

Nemesis:

"Ah, thank you young lady. But my memory block is magical in nature, done to me by another. Do you have any skilled in the Arcane Arts with you?

"With us? No, but I have met several. There's the Sorceress of the Superior Seven or Six, I get that mixed up all the time. The Enchantress of the Avengers is another. Uhm, let me see who else is there… Warlock who used to be a member of the Guardians. There are a few others, but none that come to mind at this moment."

Lily frowns, just a bit uncertain how to take this news. "How strange that must have been for you. I hadn't realized that this sort of thing was so common among metahumans. Have you heard of others with similar experiences?"

"It hasn't really been all that strange, since I've never known anything else. Until our arrival here, I thought was unique in that aspect, but Goldstar here makes at least two of us. Four counting the Tempest and Tigress clones mentioned earlier. I'm not so sure about Serena as Flux said she came from 'somewhere else'. Any idea what that meant?"

"I'm sorry to hear that," Lily replies. She is particularly disturbed by the boy's abandonment by his parents. It is hard for her to imagine any parent doing that. "This must have been very hard on the boy. I hope he gets a chance to find the love and support he needs before he gets himself into a mess he can't get out of."

"Yeah, I know what you mean. Unfortunately, he comes across so unlikable that it makes such a thing difficult at best. Think of him more of a juvenile delinquent then anything else. He fell into a group that will only bring out the worse in him."

When she encounters Nemesis, she smiles. "You fly too, like me. I think flying is fun! Don't you?" Rose whirls and twirls around gracefully in the air.

"Oh, it’s a lot of fun!" Jen will take to the air herself and put her arms out away from her body and begin to twirl in the air. "Can you make like a propeller, Rose?"

The little girls joy of flying reminds her a lot of Jen's when she as mentally younger.

If not he will later ask Edgar if he would be able to acquire files on Affrighter and the other bad Bloods. Also, "I thought of something that we might need as in equipment for the castle, unless we have it already. Do we have a cross reference of all mutants in our Database?"

"Thank you, Frostbite," Lily replies. "Without a mirror or anything to see what is happening or make changes, I have to rely on my memory. And I have no way to check the details. It is interesting that my voice changed along with my form. I didn't particularly try to do that, so it must be a function of the power. From what I can tell, I get the physical abilities of whomever I copy, though I don't know if that extends to powers.

As Blackout walks away from Gladiator, Frosty is curious about his acrobatic back ground he showed while fighting Edgar's inadequate warrior's he will approach him, "Blackout, Would you be able to teach me some of those moves you used in the castle earlier?"

"I am using the Folding Step spell young sir. It is a common method of travel between the world fragments where I am from. This method and the slow moving barges are the only ways to move people and trade goods through the either. In this instance I am not going very far, just to the inside of the castle. That response really comes as a surprise to Psi-Lad. The speaker sound too sincere to come across as playing a joke on him. For a brief instance, I consider reading his mind to find out, but decide against such a misuse of powers.

"I've honestly never heard of such a thing. I have a certain interest in magic, mainly from Role Playing Games. I was always playing some type of wizard."

Eldrich mulls over the response the youngster has given him, in particular the 'playing' part but can make no sense of it.

"Playing at wizardry is dangerous without supervision young sir. Although I am told by the High One that magic is a weaker force in this realm so perhaps there is less danger in it then I suppose. If you are not a mage then what talent do you possess that brings you here? I have already seen many wonders in this city done by the inhabitants who live here. Are you one such as well? "With us? No, but I have met several. There's the Sorceress of the Superior Seven or Six, I get that mixed up all the time. The Enchantress of the Avengers is another.Uhm, let me see who else is there? Warlock who used to be a member of the Guardians. Then there are a few others, but none that come to mind at this moment"

The Sorceress, the Enchantress? Are there so few Arcane practicioners that such names are sufficient to identify them??

"Indeed. Powerful in the Arts are they? How would a person make contact with these sorts?"

And would they even deign to speak with such a crippled one as I?

"That is correct, mademoiselle. Mainly because of the angelic like wings I was born with."

"An appropriate name, then," Lily replies. "Hmm..." she murmurs, thinking. "Born with, huh? So you've had your powers since birth? That certainly makes Rose seem less unusual. I may want to share that with her, since she may not meet any other metahumans around her age."

Dr. Marin will turn and look at Lily with a surprised look upon her face. "Are you saying that the gentleman in the butler suit already scanned Rose to examine her? How did he do that? Where's his equipment located at?" Angelique is genuinely confused by this. It sounds like this Edgar has access to technology current beyond what exists on Earth!

"Well, actually, he scanned both of us," Lily replies, a little uncertain. "As best I understand it, Edgar is a part of this castle, which is apparently alive and sentient. The only equipment I saw consisted of some kind of strange device which extruded out from the wall or ceiling. I'm afraid I don't really know how he did any of it, which is part of why I'm wanting a regular doctor to confirm what he told me."

Rose giggles happily at Archangel's remark. However, his question leaves her a bit perplexed. "Uhm, I don't know. My powers, I guess."

"Yes, I am their mentor, Rose. It is understandable to want to properly and safely use your new abilities, but joining the Young Champions is up to your mother, not me. You would need her approval first."

Rose looks suddenly crestfallen. "Oh. I guess so, huh?" She drifts away, looking for others to talk to.
