Sherwood's Tower:
As the disbursement of magic items comes to a close, Chareos is given the 12 Dart's +2. All that remains is the four Daggers +1.
Up in her private guest room, Sherra dons her new magical armor and attempts to use its blending function. Upon her mental direction, the armor changes shape into the black leather she desires and remain in that state.
Later that evening, Sherwood will present Lilia with a small book of spells that he mentioned earlier for all the mages to make use of. (I'll cover the details in the Spell Thread.)
Towards Hendry:
After a good night's rest, the group is active once more and has breakfast before hitting the open road again. The weather remains overcast, but at least it has stopped raining. Mounting up and refreshing the food supplies, the Guardians move out.
The trip out of the valley holding Sherwood's Tower is as uneventful as the trip in. The obscuring mist remains present, but with Sherwood in the lead the passage is easily made. The heavy forest quickly lightens into lighter forest as the group rides along a trail in a north-northwesterly direction. The woods breaks out into plains and travel becomes even easier. Turning north, the group heads toward Hendry.
Hendry is also a village, but one a little larger than Twin Forks. Lumber remains the number one trade and there is a very large lumber mill in Hendry. Logs are cut up into lumber and the chips and sawdust are used to create paper. Most villagers work at the lumberyard and production proceeds around the clock. There are the typical support industries and services. It looks like a very dull place.
There is a long delay as a barge is used to shuttle the Guardians back and forth across the Helleck River along with their mounts. It is early afternoon by the time everyone is across.
Sherwood does not stop in Hendry, but continues on following the road leading to the northwest and Elcadan. Travel continues until the sun sets when Sherwood stops for the night.
"We'll rest here for the evening. We'll reach Elcadan by the afternoon tomorrow."
Sherwood will conjure his magical dwelling for the evening.

Elcadan:
The Guardians are on the road as the sun comes up. The miles fly by as the group rides up the road to Elcadan. The first thing that can be seen is the tower of the Elcadan Wizard's Guild. The structure stands six stories high and is easily the highest structure in Elcadan.
Elcadan is the largest city in this area, and the second largest in the Kingdom, with a population of around 50,000 citizens. The city itself is divided into five distinct districts. While much of the city sits on the eastern shore of the Streel River, portions of it are on a small island out in the water itself. A large stone bridge connects the island to the rest of the city.
The Streel is far too wide to have a bridge span the distance given the current level of technology. This has helped serve as a natural barrier against invaders from the Broken Lands.
The first and oldest district is the apply named Old Town area. This was where the first construction in Elcadan took place. The entire Old Town area is surrounded by a thick stone wall. The wealthiest live in Old Town and this is where the Wizards Guild Tower was built.
Directly south of Old Town is New Town. New Town grew up as Old Town reached its size limits by virtue of its stone wall. New Town occupies the rest of the small island and is surrounded by a wooden stockade. The next group of wealthy people occupies this area of land.
Crosstown, as one might guess, is directly opposite of Old Town on the mainland. Crosstown is the area visitors to Elcadan usually see first. There are numerous Inns to stay at and various support business. This is the next best place to live in Elcadan after Old and New Town.
South of Crosstown things get worse. The next two areas are the slums, commonly referred to as the North and South Slums. The houses and streets in the slums become more compact and maze like the further south you go. Unlike the other parts of town, there is no sanitation system in the slums and bodily waste can be seen and smelled in the streets.
As Elcadan expanded, the slums were pushed further and further south. The South Slums are the worst of the lot. The city guard never patrols this area, and only patrols the North Slums during the daytime. Only the hardiest, or the foolish, wander this area at night.
The major east-west artery in northern Cynalon, the High Road, bisects and ends in Elcadan. Old Town and Crosstown are north of the High Road, with New Town and the Slums to the south.
As the Guardians ride in, the first area of Elcadan they can see in the tightly packed South Slums. Not the prettiest thing to see first.

The Sallavarian Estate:
Sherwood goes around the outskirts of Elcadan and continues north past the city. Just a few miles outside of Elcadan lies the Sallavarian Estate. Worked farmland surrounds much of the area, but there is little activity as the growing season has long passed.
The main estate consists of several houses, including a large stable and a huge main house. There also appears to be another, much smaller stable on the side of the main house opposite of the main stables. What sounds to be a giant bird can be heard from the inside of this smaller stable.
Workers on the estate spot the riders and one rushes to the main house to alert the Lady Sallavarian.
Sherwood guides the group to the main stable. Numerous stable hands are present to accept the parties horses, promising that they will be well kept and feed. By the time the group dismounts and gathers up their gear, Jallarzi will make an appearance.
For those who have yet to meet the Lady Sallavarian, Jallarzi stands about 5'7" in height and is distractingly attractive with her long, wavy honey blond hair and light blue eyes. Her broad smile and pearly-white teeth set off her healthy, tanned complexion most flatteringly. Jallarzi is frequently dressed in silk and satin outfits. On her forearms she wears a pair of matching bracers constructed out of some reddish hide that are bound with platinum filigree and bloodstone settings.
Perched on Jallarzi's shoulders is her infamous familiar, Edwina. Edwina looks like a red dragon, but she's only 18 inches long from snout to tail tip. Edwina's tail ends in a stinger.
The little pseudo-dragon looks everyone over, seemingly unimpressed. "Boy, what a motley looking crew!"
"Shush, Edwina!", Jallarzi chastises. "Welcome everyone to my home." Jallarzi will take the time to introduce herself to those of you who have not met her yet. "Come everyone, the others are already here and are relaxing in the study. We have much to discuss."
"Others?", Sherwood wonders aloud.
"I found Kharyna and her associates just outside of Gaz's tower. I figured that it would be simpler to just bring them here then have you try to meet up with them in Rennydale. Time wise it would have taken them a few days to make the journey anyway."
"Oh, and there is a visitor for you, Lord Validar," Lady Jallarzi adds. "He arrived at Castle Pyris right before I was going to leave. He claimed he was a fellow associate from the Seekers, so I brought him along as well."

Friends, Old and New:
Jallarzi leads the way into the huge main house. The estate is very clean and decorated. The floors are varnished wood and numerous carpets cover the floor. Warmth is provided by several fireplaces and the inside is quite comfortable.
Once inside, everyone is lead into Jallarzi's study. Inside are five other people that you've heard about, four women and one man.
The man is immediately recognizable to Validar as Arocken, the elven ranger he adventured along with in the Seekers. Arocken only stands about five and a half feet in height and is out of his armor.
The other ladies in the study are each vastly different from each other. Kylie and Sherwood will recognize Kharyna, who was another of Jallarzi's apprentices. Kharyna stands 5'3" in height and weights a little over 110 pounds. She has white hair and sparkling green eyes. She wears dark blue and the holy symbol of Mystra can be seen around her neck.
Curled up in an easy chair that seems very large for her is Lara Spellsword. She is a tiny elf maiden who stands only 4'6" tall and weighs 80 pounds when dripping wet. Lara has brown hair and brown eyes and is deeply engrossed in the tome that she is reading.
The last two women are Aswansea and Talia. Aswansea is average height, 5'6" and weights about 130 pounds. She is sketching a picture of Talia. Talia is the tallest and the youngest of the bunch. She stands 5'9" in height, but weights only 110 pounds and is quite thin. Talia has jet black hair and matching eyes.
All four of the women are very attractive, with Talia being the most.
After introductions are made, Jallarzi will reveal her findings about the Swords of Cynalon.
"I went back through Jalazar's journals about the swords. We already knew plenty about Jalazar, James the Red, and the brothers Validar and Valerian. Arak Stonehand was indeed a dwarf, and something of a beserker in battle. Not the subtlest of dwarves from what I've read. He commonly referred to elves as 'tree huggers'."
"Melchor was a Priest of Heironeous and a human. Beleme was the scout and rogue of the group. He was a half-elf."
"That just leaves Nightmist. According to the accounts that I've read, Nightmist was an 'exotic elf maiden with flowing silvery hair'. She was unusually tall, for an elf that is. Almost human in height. From what I've read, she and James were quite good friends."
"An exotic elf with flowing silvery hair?", Sherwood repeats out loud, a look of contemplation on his face. "You don't think it could be Little Grandmother, do you?"
"That's was my first thought as well," Jallarzi agrees. "Unfortunately, she's away on a personal matter. I don't know when she is returning. According to the notes Nightmist was a skilled sorceress and warrior."
Turning back to the group, Sherwood will say, "Relax and get to know each other better. We'll be departing for Rennydale in the morning."

GM Notes:
Lots of new faces around!
It's midday, and Elcadan can be ridden to in just a few minutes for those who wish to explore the city or have business there. We'll begin the journey to Rennydale in the next post.
I've updated the Adventurer Roster to reflect all the new faces, added Acerion's family to the People List, and updated the Timeline for the game.
Mages check out the post in the Spell Thread covering the spells that Sherwood gave the mages.
Now what?

New Friends and Old...
VALIDAR -
Validar looks over the city of Hendry as the pass through it. It seems much like Twin Forks, only bigger. Validar wonders if there are any remnants of banditry here from Lothar. He can only hope that it was minor and will drift apart with Lothar's capture. Perhaps the Guardians of Light will be able to do something similar to Twin Forks here in the future.
Validar has been to Elcadan before when he was younger and despite its size, he remains unimpressed. Especially for a place that can have such retchedness and filth right under its nose. Validar can't help but think that it is an appropriate, if unfortunate for those living there, example of the true status of Elcadan.
Validar is pleased that the group is circumventing the city for the moment and heading to Jallarzi's estate. "Hail, Lady Sallaverian. It seems we have been meeting quite often of late."
Validar is intrigued about the potential for new associates for the group. As Lord Acerion so eloquently stated in their conversation at Sherwood's Tower, they were still small in number to complete the various tasks that loomed before them.
When she mentions one of the Seekers being here, a wide grin forms on the noble warrior's face. Upon entering Jallarzi's study, Validar sees his friend Arocken sitting there. "Arocken, it is good to see you, my elven friend." Arocken rises and the two cross the room to greet each other. Validar will then introduce his friend to the Guardians of the Light and vice-versa.
"Alas, I am the only one to take up your request. The Seekers have changed and I felt out of place with them," Arocken will state. "When the group left for a winter exploration, I decided to head back to the woods. Your messenger arrived just as I was about depart. And here I am." Arocken is approximately 5'6" tall and 155 lbs. he Has shoulder length brown hair except for one long (knee length) braid that he keeps wrapped loosely around his neck.
"It is good to have you, Arocken. You will have plenty of opportunities for battle with the Guardians of Light, my impetuous friend."
Jallarzi introduces the other guests here at the estate. "Forgive my poor manners, ladies. Good day to each of you." Validar notices that the entore band is female. Not that women are any less able, but it is an unusual situation. His gaze lingers on the white-haired woman, Kahryna is her name. Her bright green eyes sparkle back at him. For a moment he thinks about another set of green eyes that had enthralled him. But that memory fades as he pushes it down. "Greetings to all of you. Are you intending to ride with us then?"
Talk soon turns to the Swords of Cynalon and the identity of Nightmist. "Who is this 'Little Grandmother' that you speak of?"
"Ivy, I believe we have an audience to attend with your order in Elcadan. Perhaps we should not tarry. Lord Acerion, if Lady Ivy does not object, I would welcome you to join us as well. That invitation is open to any others who wish to join the excursion."

Lord Corley
Corley:
The night at Sherwood's tower seems to pass slowly. There is a sense of tenseness in the group. Some were not happy at the way the distribution of magic items was handled. Kylie seems more quiet for some reason as well.
Retiring to his room, Corley will gather up his old suit of armor and take it to Lord Acerion. "May this armor serve you as well as it served me, Lord Acerion. It was earned by myself in honorable combat and thus has no great sentimental value to it."
Much to Corley's surprise, Lord Validar spends a great deal of time in private discussions with Acerion. Exactly what they are talking about eludes Corley and he does not pry into their personal affairs.
Next day we are on the road once more. During the trip, Lord Corley will ride up beside Kylie. "Are you well, milady? You've seemed-- distracted as of late. Is there something wrong?"
Hendry seems like such a forgettable place that Corley is glad to just pass through.
Next day we reach the City of Elcadan. Corley hasn't been here much before. It was not one of mother's favorite places to visit, some for the most part Corley has only heard the stories and rumors of Elcadan.
The Slums seem to live up to their name. A place of tightly packed houses with maze-like streets. The odor is most pungent and unpleasant. It does seem like a horrid place.
Continuing on past Elcadan, we ride to the estate of the fair Lady Sallavarian. Corley has met Jallarzi while at Castle Pyris and is also aware of her most vocal familiar.
Dismounting, Corley will pay his respects. He will gallantly kiss the fair lady's hand. "A pleasure as always Lady Sallavarian. And good to see you again, Mistress Edwina."
Corley will keep his distance from Edwina, knowing that the fickle little pseudo-dragon will bite if provoked.
Once inside the main house, Corley will warmly greet the newcomers. "Pleased to make your acquaintance Arocken. Lord Validar has spoken about you to me during the past week. I am sure that you will be a valued addition to your band."
The other new arrivals are stunning to say the least and a feast for the senses! An entire adventuring band consisting of only fair maidens? How most unusual!
"I am pleased to make you acquaintance, ladies. I am Lord Corley."
The one named Kharyna is most unusual lady. Corley had never seen anyone with white hair who was not elderly before! Lara Spellsword, a most unusual name, has to be the smallest elf he has ever seen! He thought Lilia was tiny, but she seems huge to the almost child-like Lara.
Then there is the fair Aswansea! She has the appearance of a swordswoman and Corley finds himself eager to battle beside her. Lastly there is the fair Talia. An unusually tall and thin woman. For some reason she seems a bit nervous as Corley speaks to her.
After the introductions are made, Corley is content to sit and listen as the other discuss matters. He can't help but chuckle at the 'tree-huggers' comment, but tries to contain himself for the other elves in the group.
He listens intently as the other members of the Swords of Cynalon are fleshed out better. The enhanced descriptions do nothing to reveal more information to Corley. At least this Nightmist has been revealed to be an elf, and an exotic maiden with flowing, silvery hair.
When Lord Validar speaks to the fair Ivy about journeying to her home temple, Corley will speak up as well. "I would be interested in coming along as well."

When Lord Validar speaks to the fair Ivy about journeying to her home temple, Corley will speak up as well. "I would be interested in coming along as well."
We fight for King and Country!
Ivy
Ivy:
"Along the same lines, Azrella makes me immune to the draining affects of undead who siphon away ones life force. I may be immune to the affects of Blackfire as well, not that I wish to discover first hand for myself."
Next day we are on the road again. Another day of riding is not welcomed and Ivy is sore from the experience. She had not spent this much time on horseback before and it shows. Finally the familiar site of Elcadan comes into view. It may not be much, but it is the only home that Ivy has ever known. She is pleased that the Slums come into view, allow each member of the group to see the squalor that the poor are forced to dwell in.
Continuing on, the familiar sight of the Sallavarian Estate. Ivy has been here a few times with her friend Elspeth in the past, but has no been a regular guest. Taking her turn, Ivy will greet Jallarzi. "A honor to see you once more, Lady Sallavarian. I trust that Elspeth has returned with you?"
Once inside, we meet more new adventurers. This Arocken seems to have adventured with Lord Validar before. This is good as perhaps he knows how to deal with the noble warrior better then many of us seem able to do.
Kharyna and her small adventuring band seem unusual. While female adventurers are common, an entire group of them is unique, with the exception of one other that Ivy heard of-- the Company of the Catlash.
"Pleased to meet you, friends. I say, Kharyna is it?, you bear the holy symbol of Mystra. Are you a follower of the Lady of Mysteries?"
The idea of returning to her home in the company of three such handsome men does please Ivy. That thought can't help but bring a smile to her face.
"Unfortunately, the spells duration is such that it must be cast before entering into a battle where Blackflame may be involved. Alas, there may not be time to prepare for such a thing.""If what you say turns out to be true, then we will be much better protected against our enemies. As you say unfortunately, there can be no sure way to tell if we are successful, for the Blackflame struck me in this past battle and while the wound was stronger than normal due to Artur's magickal enhancements, the Blackflame itself did not affect me. That said, we would be wise to attempt this defense where possible."
"Along the same lines, Azrella makes me immune to the draining affects of undead who siphon away ones life force. I may be immune to the affects of Blackfire as well, not that I wish to discover first hand for myself."
"Lord Validar, where I grew up I was simply happy to have a hot meal, let alone what it was. Perhaps you have experience with this process, but I do not and others seem equally unsure what to expect. Regardless of how I worded it, both Corley and I were given a second item before others were given a first. It was our choice to let go of those items and our second choices took away from others before some were even given the chance to gain their first. I find that to be unfair to everyone. Yes, both Corley and I relinquished items but it was our choice to do so, while Kylie and Sherra appear to prefer to hang on to their spare items. I would have been perfectly happy to take a second item when it came my turn to gain one. Everyone should have had one item before anyone gained a second. You seem to blame us for reacting to rules known only to yourself. Everything should have stated clearly up front before the process was even started.""If I asked you what you would like to eat and you said, perhaps some fresh fish cooked with exotic spices, roasted chicken, steamed cabbage or maybe hearty beef stew and then I brought you the steamed cabbage, would you have room to be upset when you really wanted the chicken? Why wouldn't you just say that? If one was so unconcerned about the process to not even bother to indicate a preference, then where is the unfairness if an item indicated is in fact chosen for you? I certainly expected the list to be in order, knowing that a choice would be based on that list."
"I look forward to the conversation, Lord Acerion. And I take no offense at your words. While it is true that in your order the number of men far outraces women, the opposite is true in my order. It is rare to find anyone who serves Azrella who is not female. I would suspect that our abilities are most different as I am specialized in the destruction of undead, not countering all forms of evil.""Indeed, most interesting," Acerion will reply at learning Ivy is also a paladin. "I would be most interested, when time allows, to speak with you about your beliefs and the wisdom of Azrella. Until now, I have not met another Holy Warrior, especially not a woman." Sensing that might be taken the wrong way, he adds, "Do not mistake my comment, for on the contrary, it shows your strength and convictions, for the road to obtaining paladinhood is not an easy one. I am truly honored." Acerion will show his sincerity in his eyes as he speaks those words to Ivy.

"Yes, of course, Lord Validar. Let us be on our way. Lord's Corley and Acerion are most welcome to accompany us. I am sure that my sisters would be delighted to meet them.""Ivy, I believe we have an audience to attend with your order in Elcadan. Perhaps we should not tarry. Lord Acerion, if Lady Ivy does not object, I would welcome you to join us as well. That invitation is open to any others who wish to join the excursion."
The idea of returning to her home in the company of three such handsome men does please Ivy. That thought can't help but bring a smile to her face.

Acerion
Acerion:
"I look forward to the conversation, Lord Acerion. And I take no offense at your words. While it is true that in your order the number of men far outraces women, the opposite is true in my order. It is rare to find anyone who serves Azrella who is not female. I would suspect that our abilities are most different as I am specialized in the destruction of undead, not countering all forms of evil."
Acerion will show interest as Ivy reveals that bit of information and ponder it. "Most interesting indeed. You speak as if you know a bit about my order. Have you had dealings with any of us before?"
Retiring to his room, Corley will gather up his old suit of armor and take it to Lord Acerion. "May this armor serve you as well as it served me, Lord Acerion. It was earned by myself in honorable combat and thus has no great sentimental value to it."
"Much thanks, Lord Corley. I vow to engage only in honorable combat when surrounded by its protective plates." Acerion will clasp wrists with the young lord in thanks.
After the lengthy private discussion with Validar, Acerion will retire. He will wake early, don his ceremonial robes and offer up a prayer to Heironeous. After which he make sure the armor Corley gave him fits in all the vital areas. He will then secure his old armor, prepare his packs and make sure his warhorse is ready before joining the others for the morning meal.
Acerion will ride with Ivy as the road allows while travelling to Hendry, talking with her about her faith and anything else that might be of interest to her. As the group has the long delay in crossing the river, Acerion will take note of the surrounding landscape as he has not been to this region before.
Acerion will marvel at the magical dwelling Sherwood provides as we stop for the night - as this is his first night in such a dwelling. Later, he will tend to his warhorse and engage in small talk with Validar and Corley, learning more about both of them and their recent activities. Acerion is also curious to hear about the engagement against the Cult members from both of their perspectives, and will pay close attention to learn what he can about the abilities and mannerisms those particular Cult members possessed.
The next day brings us to Elcadan and the slum area is quite visible. Acerion will observe those he can see, looking to see if the residents take notice of our group, even if from a distance. Acerion finds such living conditions appalling but knows it is an unfortunate fact that is not restricted to just Elcadan.
As Acerion contemplates many of the things he's learned and seen over the last few days, the group eventually arrives at the Sallavarian Estate. As stable hands come out to gather and tend each of the horses, Acerion puts confidence in them that they will indeed give proper care to each animal. Acerion will then move to greet the Lady Sallavarian in his typical manner. The sight of the pseudo-dragon is most interesting to him, and he may get a bit closer to Edwina than Corley would dare, since Acerion knows no better.
Acerion will move in with the others and see the other group already inside. He will wait until introductions are made and then will move to clasp wrists with Arocken and kiss the hands of the ladies if they are receptive to it. Those that may not be, he will instead give a bow of his head, but will offer a smile to each of them.
"Ivy, I believe we have an audience to attend with your order in Elcadan. Perhaps we should not tarry. Lord Acerion, if Lady Ivy does not object, I would welcome you to join us as well. That invitation is open to any others who wish to join the excursion."

Sherwood
Sherwood:
"The darts are yours as well. We do not require your gold for them."
Later that evening, Sherwood delivers the spellbook he promised Lilia and gives her the general instructions to the spells contained within. He will repeat the instructions to each of the other mages as needed.
The trip to Jallarzi's estate is trouble free. As they ride in, the screeching of Farthon can be clearly heard. That bird is nearly as noise as Edwina. Nearly.
Jallarzi greets us as we depart the stables.
Inside the house we get to meet Arocken, a former associate of Validar's. After exchanging pleasantries with him, I move on to Kharyna. "You are looking well, Kharyna. How go your explorations of Gaz's towers?"
The other ladies Sherwood has only heard about, so this is the first time they've actually met.
Sherwood will also repeat his thoughts about Jalazar's researching into magic to counter the affects of Blackfire to Jallarzi.
"My ancestor does indeed echo your own thoughts, Ivy. In fact, it mentions that Jalazar Sallavarian was attempting to research a spell that provided protection against the Blackflame using Negative Plane Protection as a starting point. I don't know how far along he came in is research. Perhaps Jallarzi will uncover his notes on the matter.""I was taught that the Negative Plane was where undead gather their strength from. It is the antithesis of the positive life force. Certain undead can steal away the life energy of others with their unlife touch. As gruesome as this is, it may also suggest a potential defense against the Blackfire. I now have access to a spell called Negative Plane Protection. It may serve as a protection against Blackfire. Unfortunately, there is no way to test my theory outside of direct confrontation with the cult itself."
"Keep the wand, Chareos, you earned. Since you lack the ranged attacks of either Kylie or Lilia, it will serve you best. If there is any error from this night is on myself and Validar for assuming that everyone understood exactly how the process would work. Tonight was a learning experience and the next such treasure disbursement will go much smoother."Chareos looks at the departing form of Lilia and begins to think rapidly, then speaks. "Excuse me Sherwood. This still could be accomplished. I realize that this wand is of no mere enchantment and should be used wisely. If Lilia has interest in the wand, it could be possible to trade her for the talisman. Upon doing so I would place it with the communal to be used as you proposed. With the compensation of the girdle I do not mind doing so. What are your thoughts on this?"
"The darts are yours as well. We do not require your gold for them."

The trip to Jallarzi's estate is trouble free. As they ride in, the screeching of Farthon can be clearly heard. That bird is nearly as noise as Edwina. Nearly.
Jallarzi greets us as we depart the stables.
"Edwina", Sherwood states before stepping up to Jallarzi."Boy, what a motley looking crew!"
"Very good. At least we can head up to Rennydale in a group. Hopefully this whole affair will be over with shortly.""Shush, Edwina!", Jallarzi chastises.
"Little Grandmother is a name of affection we have given to an occasional associate of ours. Her real name is Silvarn and she superficially matches the description of this Nightmist. Silvarn is an elven lady of great power and skill. She has been both a friend and mentor to both Jallarzi and myself.""That just leaves Nightmist.
Talk soon turns to the Swords of Cynalon and the identity of Nightmist. "Who is this 'Little Grandmother' that you speak of?"
Sherwood will also repeat his thoughts about Jalazar's researching into magic to counter the affects of Blackfire to Jallarzi.
"I will accompany you into Elcadan, but will depart on personal business. I wish to speak with Gottman and the High Road Inn about our friends from Corunglain. I will met you later at the Estate.""Ivy, I believe we have an audience to attend with your order in Elcadan. Perhaps we should not tarry. Lord Acerion, if Lady Ivy does not object, I would welcome you to join us as well. That invitation is open to any others who wish to join the excursion."
I do what is necessary.
Post Update
Post Update:
Arocken will further explain that he journeyed to Pyris in the company of Gabriella and that he brought along Validar's share of the Seekers spoils.
A small group rides from the Sallavarian Estate south towards Elcadan. The way is easy to follow as a well worn path leads to the city. Reaching the High Road, the group rides on a paved street into Elcadan. It is mid-afternoon and there is the typical hustle and bustle of the big city. People riding into and out of the city are most common. Numerous other individuals that you would take for adventurers are noted as well, including dwarves and elves.
The division between sections of the city is readily noticeable as you ride into the city. The Crosstown area to the north of the High Road is noticeable much nicer then the North Slums area to the south.
The paved streets of Crosstown are straight for the most part with regular cross streets breaking the area down into regular blocks. The area is a bustling place packed with people, particularly near the river where there are numerous dock slips and warehouses.
The streets are not perfectly clean and the faint odor of garbage and manure can be smelled, but is not overpowering. The buildings in the Crosstown area are sturdy wooden dwellings for the most part and look as if they see regular upkeep.
Ivy will speak of the city as you ride along.
Buildings of note that you will pass along the way include:
On the outside of town in the Elcadan Inn, a stone and wood building owned by the Duke himself. Most knowing travelers avoid it.
Next is a two story house called the Emporium. It is said that the Emporium can supply anything a person may desire for a price.
A small brick building housing a kiln is next, followed by two storage sheds.
Vinton's Wine Shop is something of an eyesore. The cracked wood, crumbling stone, and peeling paint look very dreadful. However, Ivy assures everyone that they carry a good quality of wine.
Peevey's Tavern is next and it is a favorite watering hole for adventurers. The building itself is two stories high and in need of maintenance.
Behind the tavern is the High Road Stable, originally the private stable for guests at the High Road Inn. In addition to stabling horses, the stable will also rent out horses for private use.
Next up is the High Road Inn, a quality place with a good reputation across the kingdom. It is a three story building of polished stone. Prices are on the high side, but it is a quality establishment and the most popular in Elcadan.
In sharp contrast to the Crosstown side of the road, here is what you see along the North Slums side. The North Slums looks like a rundown version of Crosstown. Most of the buildings are weathered and in poor condition. The stench from the tar distilleries, slaughterhouses, and dye vats is nearly overpowering. Open sewers running down the middle of the dirt streets add to the filth and odor.
There is no rhyme or reason to the street layout in the North Slums. Most likely simply well worn paths formed by the passages of thousands of feet.
Buildings are typically of poor design with wattle and daub construction being normal. Business of the same type are typically clustered together in a single area. Small shops can be found anywhere, but the quality of merchandise is usually poor.
A pair of warehouses is the first thing the adventurers see. Armed guards stand before the entrances, wearily eyeing everyone who passes.
Two seemingly run down and deserted houses are next. Most suspect that vermin live inside them.
Next is a two-story building that is used by the Free Patrol, a militia that attempts to keep law and order in the Slums areas with only varying success.
Plowman's Inn is next and is a two story wooden building that looks very run down. No activity is seen around it.
Next door is the Anvil Tavern. The outside is not very clean.
Sherwood says his goodbyes and rides off to the High Road Inn.
Continuing on, the group comes to the Streelspan Bridge, the large, wide stone bridge that connects Old & New Town to the main land. A three story guard tower stands before the Streelspan and armed guards are present.
The guards polite greet Ivy and allow her to pass unmolested. The others are not as fortunate. The guards are older men with beaten faces.
"Welcome to the Streelspan Bridge, milord's. As per the order of Duke Maurice, you must pay a toll to cross the bridge. That will be a copper for each of you and two for each of your mounts."
Now what?

Ivy:
As we ride along, Ivy will attempt to explain the tenants of her faith to Acerion. "Azrella is the patron of life and I try to follow her teachings. Human life is sacred to us, along with the lives of those other enlightened races who do not prey on humanity. Those creatures who make a mockery of life, undead in particular, are a vile insult and must be destroyed."
"While my sect is weak in combat and are not permitted to slay enlightened beings, we are fierce combatants against undead with many special abilities. I myself have taken this training much further and have become what is known as an Undead Hunter, a special warrior dedicated to the destruction of undead."
"Other duties of the priesthood include assisting in childbirth and raising children who have lost their parents. I was raised in an Azrellan orphanage when my village was wiped out by undead and joined the priesthood when I was old enough. I swore an oath to destroy every undead in the world to prevent any child from enduring what I had to."
Later as we ride through Elcadan, Ivy will point things out as we pass. At the tool bridge Ivy simply nods to the guards and rides along, momentarily forgetting about the toll. Turning back, Ivy will reach for her purse. "I will cover the fee for these fine gentlemen, guard."
"To a certain extent, yes I have Lord Acerion. There is a Temple to Heironeous located in New Town. Your brethren, along with the followers of Helm are frequently concerned about the welfare of my sisters when we go forth into the Slums to render aid and accompany us for protection."Acerion will show interest as Ivy reveals that bit of information and ponder it. "Most interesting indeed. You speak as if you know a bit about my order. Have you had dealings with any of us before?"

For the glory of the Blue Lady!
On to Elcadan... (Which rhymes with Doxidan)
VALIDAR -
When Validar meets Arocken, the elven ranger mentions that he was accompanied by Lady Gabriella to Pyris. He looks on that with a curious eye and a grin forms on his features at the thought of the raven-haired beauty. The two of them had been spending more and more time together before he had to leave Gateway to return to Pyris. He only had time to leave a quick note and not actually say goodbye face to face. "I trust Gabriella is well, my friend?"
"As for the spoils of the Seekers, I thank you quite kindly. Those funds were indeed substantial and will go along way to assisting our tasks here." Validar is quite pleased at the situation. "Of course, your presence here is most valuable. It will be good to ride with you again, my friend."
"There is one item of spoils that you'll be most interested in, Validar. Stephanie was the most vocal is retaining it for you. It is packed away in a box here at the estate," Arocken will explain.
A smile graces the noble lord's face at the mention of his friend and comrade, Stephanie. The warrior was one of many friends that he left behind on the Seekers. He hopes they are all well.
Back to the treasure issue-
Validar lets a mirthless smile tug at the corner of his mouth as Ivy repeats her stance that he already refuted one time. He lets out a brief sigh as he explains again the process. "I have explained at length that the process was not one of 'pick a person, pick an item'. If that were the case, then why bother to have Sherwood and I make the choices, we would perhaps pick the order of the choosing or leave it up to chance for that matter. So why are you fixated on the spoken order, when it has no direct bearing on the choices themselves. Your perception and obviously that of Lilia is skewed for some reason."
"As Sherwood and I made the overall choices, there were no items removed from the mix before others had a choice as the choice was already made. You are illogically applying the ideas behind one method of treasure disbursement to the actions of a wholly unrelated one. As I said before, and I grow weary of repeating myself, Chareos was not decided to have the Wand of Lightning AFTER giving the Ring to you. In fact it was made before. I simply spoke the words in the order that they were spoken, not in the order chosen. The speaking is linear, the choosing is not and was done as a whole. Choices made for the group, then spoken in the manner that was done."
"There are no rules to be broken. The agreement was that the leaders of this group would make the choices based on preferences given. That was the single rule. To achieve that, some people may be given three items or four to equal the effects of one very powerful item. That is how it is. Your point is only valid if we had picked a choosing order, each member was making their choices in order and I interrupted the process to give you and Corley extra awards. There is nothing further from the truth. So please do not go on any longer about order and one receiving items before another. These statements have no bearing on actual events."
"Truth be told, the next treasure we divide up will be done much differently. As for Sherwood and I making the assumptions, I disagree with that statement. We did as was agreed upon. The assumptions were clearly made by others.
Next morning before leaving Sherwood's Tower -
Validar will speak to Corley as the ready their mounts to depart. "Lord Corley, I had some very good conversations with this Lord Acerion last evening. He has committed as well to the recovery of Stone Ridge. I think it will be good to have the paladin's might alongside us. We also gain the favor of all who look on Heironeous with respect with his addition. Lady Ardel will be most pleased>"
At Lady Sallavarian's Estate -
"Of course, Lord Corley, we would be pleased to have you join us. I did not wish to speak for you, as there are other engaging activities here as well." Validar will give a quick look over to the new ladies they had met with a smile. The noble warrior catches that smile warmly returned by the one they introduced as Kharyna. His gaze lingers on her for a moment, then returns to Corley. "Let us ride as one."
"Yes, of course, Lord Validar. Let us be on our way. Lord's Corley and Acerion are most welcome to accompany us. I am sure that my sisters would be delighted to meet them."
"I can only hope they will recieve us well. Our plan will have so much more success and be less interfered with under the care of the Blue Lady."
On the ride into Elcadan -
Validar makes note of the Slums and makes a mental note to himself that Pyris will never grow in such an uncared for and unplanned manner. This city is a shining example of Lord Maurice and his true character. To some he puts on the trappings of wealth and extravagance, but in truth there is mostly putrid waste.
Validar listens to Ivy's explanations as they ride and he looks at the arrangement of the city streets. More he is concerned with the guards and soldiers that they see. He gauges their equipment and their dedication to their duty. He looks for regular patrols through the town and considers for a moment the apparant lawlessness of the Slums. An idea comes to him and Validar cannot suppress a smirk. He then gives more of his attention to Ivy's 'tour'.
Reaching the Guard Tower to cross the Streel River-
The guards politely greet Ivy and allow her to pass unmolested. The others are not as fortunate. The guards are older men with beaten faces.
"Welcome to the Streelspan Bridge, milord's. As per the order of Duke Maurice, you must pay a toll to cross the bridge. That will be a copper for each of you and two for each of your mounts."
"My good man, I am Lord Validar of the Barony of Pyris. It is not lawful, nor seemly for a Noble Lord to pay a tax to another Lord. We owe our tax only to those whom we swear fealty to."
At the toll bridge Ivy simply nods to the guards and rides along, momentarily forgetting about the toll. Turning back, Ivy will reach for her purse. "I will cover the fee for these fine gentlemen, guard."
"It is not necessary, Ivy of Azrella. I find it quite humorous in fact. An amusing annecdote at the King's Court perhaps. Here is your fee." Validar will flick a gold goin to the soldier, knowing full well that the amount would cover more than ten times their number. "May we continue on?"
Conquer or Die!
riding, riding, riding...
Sherra:
Seeing that the new armor adapts to her thoughts, Sherra smiles. Even though she plans to keep this armor looking like it does now, the blending features could prove very useful in the future.
Sherra will awaken the next morning fairly early. As everyone goes down for the morning meal and prepares for the day's ride, she will get lost in the activities as well. Sherra will keep an eye on everyone since there were some problems last night, and will try to judge the mood this morning.
Riding through Hendry, Sherra will watch the work and wonder if a simple life was ever to have been hers if things had worked out differently. Somehow though, she doubts it, and one way or another, she would have found herself either on the sea or the open road even if events had not played out the way they did.
During the long wait in crossing the river, Sherra will see if Grondar wants more lessons, and will find a suitable place. She will enjoy the feeling of the water once more, not knowing how long it may be before having the chance to spend time in or near any sizeable amount of it in the near future. Sherra will pass the rest of the time reciting any more of the dwarven language that Grondar shares with her.
As the slums of Elcadan come into view, Sherra keeps an eye out. It's very doubtful anyone will be looking for her, especially in any sizeable group such as the one she now travels with, but she will not let her guard down. Nothing happens and the ride ends at the estate.
Sherra is quite surprised to see so many people already here and apparently waiting, at least in part, for our arrival. She watches as Validar reunites with one of his old companions and smiles. Arocken, like Laucian, is quite striking, as Sherra admits to herself it is the exotic elven features that make them so appealing. She will greet each of those introduced and listen to see if everyone here will be joining the group or if it is just a matter of a good place to meet and conduct business.
Ivy, Sherwood and the lords within the group are all travelling into Elcadan for some business, but Sherra really has no desire to do so. The time she had spent there will go a long way to keep her satisfied, and she does not ever think she will truly miss it. Instead, she will spend time at the estate and see what the others are doing, engaging in conversation if the opportunity arises. Otherwise, she will spend time walking the grounds of the estate and reflect on some memories.

Grondar:
Grondar watches the rest of the item awards and discussions with growing concern. He is pleased that Chareos is granted the Girdle, as that is an excellent choice for the young warrior-mage. The Ring for Laucian is also reasonable, though Laucian makes a good point in that regard as well.
At the same time, he is gravely concerned over Lilia's outburst and perception of these events. In honesty, he doesn't feel that there was any overt intention to deprive anyone, yet he can also see her perspective regarding the manner in which this has been handled. Grondar is also disappointed that she will accept no further items, as he feels she is the best recipient for the Boots. Still, Sherra is a good second choice, and Grondar is content with the decision.
Grondar has but one thing to say on the matter, then he will be done. "It has been my experience that logic and how people feel are rarely related. A good leader understands and recognises this. I agree that this will have to serve as a learning experience for all of us, and that we will need to handle this somewhat differently next time."
=====
The move out the next morning, headed toward Hendry. The weather is improved, and Grondar finds that his riding skill is starting to improve, if just a little. At least he no longer feels that he is in constant danger of falling off, and the level of discomfort is slowly decreasing.
The town seems nice enough, for one not located underground as a proper city should be. Still, lumber is a worthy industry, and the people seem hardworking and content. He does not see anyone in particular need of the Revered Mother's blessings, so he takes Sherra up on her offer.
Removing his gear, Grondar wades into the water of the river with Sherra. As he struggles to learn her lessons, he responds by testing her memory and pronounciation of the words he taught her earlier. Once satisfied, he will introduce some more words, focussing on the natural world around them: tree, leaf, branch, sky, and the names of a variety of animals, birds and other creatures.
Once across the river, they press on well into the evening. Despite his improving skill, he is still sore by time they make camp for the night. At least Sherwood's magical retreat is comfortable and he is able to tend to his distress.
The next morning, they continue on to Elcadan. As they reach the city and travel through it, Grondar finds himself quite disappointed by this "achievement" of the humans. It is poorly-build, poorly-organized, and far to many of the residents live in squallor. If he had ever been inclined to doubt the stories of Ivy and Kylie, he sees more than enough to substantiate their claims in his mind. The rulers should be ashamed; were they dwarven, they would have been driven from their positions long ago. He sees little option here better than leveling the city and building anew from the ground up - or down.
The home of Lady Sallavarian proves much more pleasant. However, the sight of the creature perched on her shoulder fills him with alarm. His first instinct would be to attack it on sight to save her and all of them from such a predator. However, she seems to treat it as a pet, and the others do not seem particularly concerned, so he holds his judgement.
"A pleasure to meet you, Lady Sallavarian," he says when introduced. "May the blessings of the Revered Mother ever shield you and yours." So this is the woman who taught Kylie in the magical arts... Hmm. No doubt she would have some fine tales to tell.
Upon entering Jalarzi's home, Grondar finds that there are many other visitors. He does his best to remember all of the names, while greeting everyone in a friendly manner. The mention of Arak calling elves "tree-huggers" elicits a chuckle from the dwarf, but otherwise he listens interestedly to the discussion of long ago.
Grondar will ask Ivy if he may be allowed to accompany her on the visit to her temple. He would enjoy learning more of her order, and he is fairly certain that few of the dwarven deities have facilities in this wretched city.

Grondar smiles. "I did not know that, my friend. While Validar and Sherwood are our elected leaders, I have always seen the value of other viewpoints. It was my intention to simply add to the thought processes as best I may, so that the best result would be achieved in the end.""You are not mistaken my dwarven friend. It is true that I too have only received one item." He considers for a moment before speaking choosing his words carefully not to make offense. "I spoke to Validar in private beforehand about my interests as well as among all of you. Validar believes that this method is best and I believe him. This is why I left it to both Sherwood's and Validar's decision."

Kylie:
=====
Seeing Lilia retreat from the distribution convention, Kylie feels some measure of guilt, centered on her own greediness for the items. Rising, she makes her way to find the elven woman, but is rebuffed by her. Troubled, she wanders a while about Sherwood's home before returning to the main room. She misses much of the discussion in her absense.
=====
Before leaving on the road to Hendry, if no one else has shown an interest in them, Kylie will exchange her two ordinary Daggers for the enchanted ones that remain.
The travel is long and dull, but they make it to Elcadan in less than two days. As usual, she cooks for the others as they proceed on their journey; Acerion will have the opportunity to sample the results of her labors. Kylie has little to say along with way, still tormented by her inner demons, but responds when Corley approaches her.
=====
Kylie finds the return to Elcadan unpleasant. Ugly memories assail her as they ride through town. Much that they see - particularly in the slum areas - is familiar to her, though she could wish it weren't.
The arrival at Jalarzi's home is the best part of the day. Kylie curtsies when the Lady greets them. "Hello, Jalarzi," she says with a smile. "It's great to see you again." Kylie gives the taller woman a hug. She then stretches up and gives Edwina her usual kiss. "Hi, Edwina! How are you? Eaten any rodents lately?"
Passing within, Kylie is not pleased to find a bevy of beautiful women waiting inside. Worse, she notes some looks of interest directed towards Lord Corley, and some pleased response from him. She will have to watch him closely while these tramps are around. At least she knows Kharyna from before and considers her a friend, but the others just look like competition to her. Kylie attempts to feign friendliness toward the women, but when it becomes evident that they will be travelling together for a while, it is almost more than she can bear.
On the other hand, Validar's elven friend is rather handsome, and Kylie appreciates the presence of another attractive man. "Kylie of Elcadan," she says when introduced. "I was a student of Jallarzi's before being picked for this expedition."
Later, some depart for the city, but Kylie chooses to stay behind. This will give her an opportunity to get reacquainted with Jallarzi, Kharyna and Edwina. Plus, she'll have time to review the new spells provided by Sherwood and learn as many as possible.
"I-- I'm sure you are right, Lilia. Perhaps I am being silly, or letting my fears run away with me. I don't know that I am cut out for this, but I will continue to do my best. I can only hope that I can survive long enough to find out what happened to my mother."Not quite sure what to say, Lilia will answer back in Elvish. "For a human, Lord Validar does have some good thoughts. The true enemy does not exist out here, but inside you. I have had extensive combat training as part of my upbringing that you lack. Conquering ones own personal fear is the greatest challenge you will face. No rational being wishes to die, but acting upon impulse and ones own fear is a quick way to be sent on to the next world."
"Both of our own styles in battle are similar, Kyle Lanthorn. In as such we both use our bows and magic from a distance. Thus we will always be away from the main action that others will be facing. Since we will be on the edge of any conflict, we should be safer then most in the group. There are several skilled warriors among us and several priests to heal wounds should the worst occur."
"Keep a clear head and you should emerge unscathed from most conflicts. Also remember that we watch each other back should the worst occur. As part of a group, you will never be alone on the battlefield."

"Thank you, Sherwood. That is what I will do." Kylie pauses to consider before continuing. "I will give them to my father at the next opportunity. I believe he will appreciate having them, and they will serve to protect him while I am away." She does indeed give them to her father when Sherwood takes her to visit him in Orlane before they depart. He seems happy to have them in his care, as they serve as a momento of both her and her mother."No one is required to exchange items if they get something better. While it is a good practice, it is not a requirement. Some items do have great sentimental value and should not be parted with. Likewise items do tend to get destroyed frequently, so having back up gear is also desirable. Keep your mother's bracers Kylie and Sherra hold on to your old leather armor."

Kylie smiles at Corley, though her visage is a bit forlorn. "I'm concerned about Lilia. I know she feels slighted, and she's been so kind to me that I wish I could help, but she seems unwilling to talk about it at all. I fear some of the blame is on my head as well, as my greed got the better of me that night. I can't really appologize for that, as it is as much a part of me as anything. Having lived without anything of value to call my own for so long, I find it hard to resist wanting everything I can lay my hands on. It's not noble, but it's who I am. Still, Lilia is my friend, and I hate the thought of having contributed to her distress."During the trip, Lord Corley will ride up beside Kylie. "Are you well, milady? You've seemed-- distracted as of late. Is there something wrong?"

VALIDAR -
Grondar will ask Ivy if he may be allowed to accompany her on the visit to her temple. He would enjoy learning more of her order, and he is fairly certain that few of the dwarven deities have facilities in this wretched city.
Validar is not surprised that Grondar also wishes to come along on the trip to visit the Azrellian temple. Validar will welcome the dwarven cleric as he is sure that Ivy will not have any reason to deny his request.

Initial Meetings
Kharyna -
Kharyna (pronouned Ka-REE-na) will warmly greet Kylie when this other group of Sherwood's arrives. "It's been too long, Kylie. How have you been doing since I last saw you?"
Kharyna is a shorter, thin woman, but she is not skinny, rather the fine silken garments she wears show off her well-formed figure. Even in the relative warmth of Jallarzi's estate, Kharyna is dressed very lightly for the weather and temperature. She also seems to wear quite the collection of fine jewelry in gold and gems.
A large armored warrior speaks his greetings first. "Forgive my poor manners, ladies. Good day to each of you."
"Good day to you as well." Kharyna will smile at the noble warrior. "I am Kharyna and this is the rest of my adventuring band."
"Greetings to all of you. Are you intending to ride with us then?"
"Sherwood asked us to get involved in his current project and we needed a break from our current expedition. As we tend to go where the interest and opportunity lie, then perhaps for a time we will indeed ride together."
"I am pleased to make your acquaintance, ladies. I am Lord Corley."
"Hello to you as well, Lord Corley." Kharyna watches the young warrior's reaction to meeting her friends, especially Aswansea. "I think you have an admirer, Swanny," Kharyna will say with a smile.
Ivy - "Pleased to meet you, friends. I say, Kharyna is it?, you bear the holy symbol of Mystra. Are you a follower of the Lady of Mysteries?"
"Kharyna, it is. I see you are a follower of Azrella yourself. You could say that I am a follower of Mystra, and perhaps a bit more than that. When I was born my white hair marked me for special status amongst those that worshipped Auril on the island that was once known as Everwinter. While I didn't have the blue eyes as well that would have indicated true status in her sect, I was trained and favored by Auril for some time. When I learned of her true intentions and evilness, I helped to overthrown Auril's control of myself and the island and with the Lady of Mystery's assistance, it was returned to Neverwinter."
"Since that time, I have grown in the tutelage of Mystra's followers, as well as learning the skills she bestows upon non-priests. You could say that magic of some form now is my life." While she is talking, Kharyna catches the noble lord Validar's eye and smiles again warmly. He is most attractive. "And what is your tale, follower of the Blue Lady?"
Kharyna will allow Lord Acerion the kiss of her hand. She is not used to traveling in noble social circles, but she also is not rude. "It appears your group is both well-armed and well armored, milord."
Sherwood - Inside the house we get to meet Arocken, a former associate of Validar's. After exchanging pleasantries with him, I move on to Kharyna. "You are looking well, Kharyna. How go your explorations of Gaz's towers?"
"Oh, you know, a little here, a little there. We've gotten down about 6 layers so far in the current tower we're exploring. It's been interesting, but we're all ready to spend some time above ground for a bit."
Kharyna will also greet the rest of the Guardians of the Light and speak with some of them as the evening progresses. "Kylie, you seem not quite yourself this evening. Is something bothering you? I remember that scowl you're trying to hide from before," Kharyna says with a smile when she has a chance to speak to her apart from the others.

Laucian
Laucian wakes early and double checks that all his equipment is in working order before heading down to breakfast. He eats sparingly of the meal. Afterward he gathers his gear and gets Starfire ready for the trip. It is yet an overcast day so Laucian makes sure to have the mount's blanket upon it to keep it warm as the days seem to be colder as time passes on.
The ride from Sherwood's tower is slow through the thick forest but soon becomes quicker as they move through lighter forest. Laucian looks at the surrounding scenery for both trouble as well as the pure enjoyment of having the wind on his face.
The party soon passes through Hendry, a small villiage but large compared to that what he has seen at Twin Oaks. As they pass the lumber yard the sight of stacked timber catches his eyes. Although he knows full well the uses of the wood whether it be shelter, paper or even fuel, He can't help but wonder how many trees were lost let alone the wildlife that was affected. He makes a silent pray to Ehlonna to show these men that they must replace what they cut or in time there will be nothing left but barren land.
As they pass through Hendry, Laucian will ride alongside Lilia and look her over. In elvish "I know last night upset you my friend, but please do not dwell on it. There are those among us that have seen to it that it will not happen again. Grondar tried to get you more than you bargained for. Even young Chareos was willing to sacrifice his wand in order to keep the peace. We are in good company, and I do not believe they will let it come to pass again."
As they reach the outskirts of Elcadan a large structure can be seen from afar. Laucian can't help but to gaze upon its form. As they begin to come closer and begin passing through what these humans have referred to as slums, Laucian can't help but wonder why things were let to be so bad. The stench of human waste and household garbage is overpowering. After a time it slowly makes his stomach turn.
Much to his relief they soon ride out of this forsaken area. And soon come to a large Plantation of sorts and are guided to the stables. As Laucian dismounts, a stable hand reaches for his mount. He offers the man a warning, " This mount is very spirited my friend and very few can handle him. If you find him too difficult to handle please come get me and I will tend to him."
The Lady of the house, Lady Sallavarian, comes to greet us. Laucian will bow and gently take her hand and kiss it. Noting the miniature dragon on her shoulders he can't help but wonder, "What manner of creature is this? Edwina, it a pleasure to meet you both." He will reach into his food pouch and produce an apple from it. "With your permission my lady?" he will offer the small morsel of food to the small dragon.
We are soon ushered inside of a large dwelling. Laucian begins to look around as they are ushered into yet another room. Several women and one male are seen as they enter the study. Laucian scans the other party as they are introduced; many of the women are very beautiful especially a women with black hair and eyes, even though she is human. "I am Laucian Nailo of Clan Grundalf, may Ehlonna's blessing be upon you all."
As the meeting is started and Arak Stonehand's, as well as the other members', tales are told Laucian listens intently. He doesn't care for being referred to as a tree hugger but holds his tongue in the presence of Grondar. Grondar is the only dwarf that he had the privilege of meeting and wished not to offend the dwarf. Even if the insult came from a lowly bottom feeding dwarf such as Stonehand.
It is revealed that Nightmist has Silvery hair which is odd from what Laucian can recall. Not many elves he has known and met have had that type of color. He can't help but wonder if this woman is indeed a drow. Apparently Sherwood may know who this women is and Validar beats him to the question.
After the meeting is concluded he will ask Ivy for a moment of her time. Reaching into his money pouch he will remove 10 gems and place them in Ivy's hand. "The children of this city need this far more than I. Will you see that your order sees to their needs?"
As the others leave the compound Laucian will approach the Elven Male. "Arocken was it not? Pardon my curiousity but where do you hail from?"
Laucian will engage in small talk with everyone as well as greet each one in turn. As time goes on he will head outside, excusing himself if needed, and begin to practice with his sword, mock fighting his shadow.

Arocken & Validar:
Into Elcadan:
After paying the toll, those traveling with Ivy are allowed to continue onward. The Streelspan Bridge is large and wide, allowing many dozens of people to cross back and forth at the same time with ease.
On the other side of the bridge, the High Road shortly comes to an end. To the north is the main gates leading into the Old Town area. The entire Old Town area is surrounded by a 12' high stone wall. Guard towers flank the gateway area. The gate currently stands open and typically is during the day time.
On the New Town side of the road, the Goatsfoot Tavern can be seen just past the bridge. Close by is an open air market. The streets in New Town are in better condition then Crosstown and there are no offensive odors. A wooden palisade surrounds New Town.
Ivy leads the group through the main gate and into Old Town. As might be expected, Old Town is the nicest and cleanest part of Elcadan. The streets are paved and there is regular sewer. Drainage grates can be seen every so often. The streets are wide and clean and grass and trees are plentiful. The presence of city guards is noticeably higher here than anywhere else.
To the riders left sits a row of what appears to be granaries complete with guards. A guard barracks sits to the right. A few private residences, mostly stone buildings with wood trim are spotted. Most are in excellent shape.
Straight ahead and dominating the landscape is the mage guild tower. It stands over 100' wide at the base and rises six stories high. This was the very first building erected in New Elcadan after the fall of Old Elcadan, long before the founding of the Kingdom of Cynalon. Across from the guild tower is a temple dedicated to the goddess Mystra.
Continuing onward, Ivy rides to the right of the Mage Guild and you pass a large building labeled the Marvelia. The Marvelia contains as many as thirty merchant shops selling goods from far away lands.
Just past the Marvelia is the temple of Azrella. It is a simply looking structure. One portion is the main temple itself with the orphanage behind. Entering, the adventures can see several other priestess of varying ages along with numerous children. The children seem well feed and clean for the most part. Their laughter can be heard.
Ivy greets and is in turn greeted by many as you pass. Many of the children watch with great interest. A few even follow along behind.
"IVY!", a little girl cries out and runs to hug the priestess. Ivy picks the little girl up and hugs her back.
"My friends, this is Sephie. She was found wandering the Slums and we have yet been able to locate her parents. Isn't she the cutest thing you've ever seen?"
Showing Sephie better, you can see that she is part elvish with slightly point ears. Sephie can't be much older then four or five and is indeed quite cute. "Oh, shiny armor!", Sephie will cry out.
"Yes, very shiny armor, Sephie."
Continuing on while carrying Sephie, Ivy leads you onward. Spotting Elspeth up ahead, Ivy goes to greet her friend. After their reunion, Elspeth will lead you all to the High Priestess of the Temple, an elderly woman known as Boelle. Introductions are made and Ivy will explain why you have come. Time for Validar to make his presentation!
Sallavarian Estate:
Those who wander the estate will find that it seemingly has more workers then normally would seem to be required. There are several outlaying buildings that serve as housing for the staff. For the most part they appear to be well fed and have good quality clothing.
Those approaching the smaller stable well away from the main stable can't help but hear bird-like screeching sounds coming form inside. Whatever is in there doesn't sound like it's in pain, just chirping loudly.
Arocken & others:
The Elven ranger will to courteous to those who speak to him. "I served with Validar in the Seekers and wish to continue to do so with those who now ride with him. I look forward to fighting by your sides."
Arocken & Validar:
"Indeed, the lady is well. She was disconcerted over your sudden departure and wished to travel to Pyris by herself. I agreed to accompany her as the trek is too dangerous for one to make alone. She looks forward to seeing you again."When Validar meets Arocken, the elven ranger mentions that he was accompanied by Gabriella to Pyris. He looks on that with a curious eye. The two of them had been spending more and more time together before he had to leave Gateway to return to Pyris. "I trust Gabriella is well, my friend?"
"I look forward to battling by your side once more, Validar. I trust we shall be seeing plenty of action?""As for the spoils of the Seekers, I thank you quite kindly. Those funds were indeed substantial and will go along way to assisting our tasks here." Validar is quite pleased at the situation. "Of course, your presence here is most valuable. It will be good to ride with you again, my friend."

"Kylie of Elcadan," she says when introduced. "I was a student of Jallarzi's before being picked for this expedition."
"Welcome brother ranger," Arocken will say, grasping hands with Laucian. "And a follower of the Lady of the Forests to boot, very good. I call the Elfholds my home, friend. Clan Red Arrow."As the others leave the compound Laucian will approach the Elven Male. "Arocken was it not? Pardon my curiosity but where do you hail from?"

Welcome to my home...
Jallarzi:
Edwina will give Corley a toothy grin. "Did you bring me any sweets, young noble?"
Edwina will regard Laucian with interest. "An elf. We don’t get many of those around here. Ohh, and an elf offering fruit!" Edwina will devour the apple in just a few gulps. "I like him. He can stay."
"Indeed, Lord Validar. It used to be only special occasions while visiting Aunt Lysandra."Validar is pleased that the group is circumventing the city for the moment and heading to Jallarzi's estate. "Hail, Lady Sallavarian. It seems we have been meeting quite often of late."
"Welcome to my home, Lord Corley. I have already alerted the cook to prepare for an extra large meal this evening."Dismounting, Corley will pay his respects. He will gallantly kiss the fair lady's hand. "A pleasure as always Lady Sallavarian. And good to see you again, Mistress Edwina."
Corley will keep his distance from Edwina, knowing that the fickle little pseudo-dragon will bite if provoked.
Edwina will give Corley a toothy grin. "Did you bring me any sweets, young noble?"
"Hello, Ivy. Yes, Elspeth returned with me and has returned to your temple."Continuing on, the familiar sight of the Sallavarian Estate. Ivy has been here a few times with her friend Elspeth in the past, but has not been a regular guest. Taking her turn, Ivy will greet Jallarzi. "A honor to see you once more, Lady Sallavarian. I trust that Elspeth has returned with you?"
Edwina will regard Acerion with interest. "What's up with this guy?", the little dragon will cry out in her usual lack of manners. "He smells different!"Acerion will then move to greet the Lady Sallavarian in his typical manner. The sight of the pseudo-dragon is most interesting to him, and he may get a bit closer to Edwina than Corley would dare, since Acerion knows no better.
"Greetings Grondar of Berronar. I am pleased to finally meet you. I've heard much about you. I welcome you to my home.""A pleasure to meet you, Lady Sallavarian," he says when introduced. "May the blessings of the Revered Mother ever shield you and yours." So this is the woman who taught Kylie in the magical arts... Hmm. No doubt she would have some fine tales to tell.
"Hello Kylie. Sherwood has spoken well of your exploits. I am proud of you."The arrival at Jallarzi's home is the best part of the day. Kylie curtsies when the Lady greets them. "Hello, Jallarzi," she says with a smile. "It's great to see you again." Kylie gives the taller woman a hug.
"Rodents!?!", Edwina screeches where little eyes nearly bulging out. "BLECH! Tell you what, I've forgive you if you whip up some of your special pastries for me! Please?"She then stretches up and gives Edwina her usual kiss. "Hi, Edwina! How are you? Eaten any rodents lately?"
"Welcome, Laucian of Ehlonna to my humble abode. Edwina is, for better or worse, my familiar. She is a pseudo-dragon. Surely you've seen her kind, along with faerie dragons, before in the Elfholds?"The Lady of the house, Lady Sallavarian comes to greet us. Laucian will bow and gently take her and kiss it. Noting the miniature dragon on her shoulders he can't help but wonder ,"What manner of creature is this? Edwina, it a pleasure to meet you both." he will reach into his food pouch and produce an apple from it. "With your permission my lady?" he will offer the small morsel of food to the small dragon.

Checking out the guys...
Swanny:
To past the time, Aswansea works on her favorite hobby of painting. She decides to do a portrait of Talia, provided that the thief can stand in one spot for two minutes. Swanny quickly begins to sketch the basics of her the pose she is looking for when the door opens and Lady Sallavarian enters with the band of adventurers we've been waiting for. There seems to be a great many men among the band, handsome men at that.
"I wonder how long these guys will last," Swanny will say to Kharyna. "Anyone care to take a wager?"
"Don't you have any non-nobles in this country? Everyone seems to be Lady this and Lord That. Where are all the common folks?"
Swanny will chuckle at the 'tree-hugger' comment and will fend off the nasty look from Lara. "I think I would have liked this Arak Stonehand. That was funny!"

"Don't you have any non-nobles in this country? Everyone seems to be Lady this and Lord That. Where are all the common folks?"
"Indeed. Obviously a man with excellent taste. So tell me, young noble, what do you for excitement in this town?""Hello to you as well, Lord Corley." Kharyna watches the young warrior's reaction to meeting her friends, especially Aswansea. "I think you have an admirer, Swanny," Kharyna will say with a smile.
"And to you as well. It's amazing that you have some many men, and of various races, in your group. The most we ever had was one and he kept dying!""I am Laucian Nailo of Clan Grunalf, may Ehlonna's blessing be upon you all."
Swanny will chuckle at the 'tree-hugger' comment and will fend off the nasty look from Lara. "I think I would have liked this Arak Stonehand. That was funny!"
VALIDAR -
Introductions-
Arocken -"Indeed, the lady is well. She was disconcerted over your sudden departure and wished to travel to Pyris by herself. I agreed to accompany her as the trek is too dangerous for one to make alone. She looks forward to seeing you again."
"I did not have time to tell her of my departure with all of the organizational issues of the Seekers new members before I left. I barely had time to have a quick note delivered to her. Of course, I also had no idea that I would not be returning in due time as well. Perhaps we will be ready for the Spring War with Keln."
"I thank you for accompanying my lady on the journey. While it is not as lawless as some of the Western parts of the Kingdom, there are many dangers just the same."
"I look forward to battling by your side once more, Validar. I trust we shall be seeing plenty of action?"
"Indeed we shall, friend Arocken. We go to battle the Cult of the Blackflame and seek to extinguish its evil once more and for all time. Beyond that, the plans I have are quite ambitious and we strive to recover Ardelphia from the hands of the humanoids who soil her streets with their presence. If you are looking for battle, my spirited friend, then you shall surely find it here."
Validar will ignore Aswansea's first comment about them being able to survive, but cannot fail to address the second. "My lady, you have the look of a fine swordswoman about you. And clearly you are not from Cynalon. But I can assure you that my comrades and I are indeed in this adventure to see it through to its end. You will witness our valor and courage when we next see battle as I am sure we will witness yours."
Into the Temple of Azrella-
Validar takes in his surroundings as he rides into Old Town. He compares what he sees now with his memories of previous trips here. It seems to have changed only superficially. The guard bararcks has been increased slightly in size with some extra buildings around it. The Tower of the Mage Guild seems much the same as before.
Together the group rides to the Azrellian temple and enters. Before long, they are ushered into an inner room and Validar is given the floor.
"Greetings, Followers of the Blue Lady. I am Lord Validar of the Barony of Pyris. My comrades and I are known as the Guardians of the Light and we are in direct conflict with the resurgence of the Cult of the Blackflame." Validar will wait for responses from the priestesses, as he is sure that Boelle must be aware of such vileness.
"But that duty is not why we are here in your presence. Our group is not just a wandering band of adventurers seeking treasure and battle and leaving the common people behind us with the remnants of our escapades. We strive to be a true force for good, for change and for righteousness."
"The lands in the Western portion of Cynalon: Corunglain, Akorros, Elcadan, are beset by many challenges currently. And the common man is the one most affected by these challenges, whether through the lack of resources, simple disregard or need to defend its borders, these lands have let their people suffer."
"The Guardians of the Light have taken it upon themselves to begin to alter that tide. In the small village of Twin Forks we eliminated a bandit leader which has plagued the area, especialy preying upon the High Road between Timberline and Wrassledown. Even now, Sherwood has other adventurers combatting the remnants of their various cells in Western Elcadan."
"We have contributed a sizeable sum to the villagers for improvement of their lives, as well as creating more business opportunities in the area for businessmen. We seek to create a haven for opportunity and growth in this town. Pyris has already committed to protection and has begun plans to construct a fortification to protect the town and see to it that the bandit Lothar is not simply replaced in time. Each family is being given 20 gold coins, a sizeable salary even in a large city such as this, over the next year to support themselves, to develop businesses and trade routes to the East. In addition, we wish to offer a similar grant to select individuals who move to the soon-to-be-growing town of Twin Forks."
"The important part of this is the presentation and choices of who receives that offer. At the suggestion of your priestess, the lady Ivy, we are petitioning your order to assist us in this noble endeavor. Ivy suggested that your order could be most advantageous in assisting those who wish to relocate from Elcadan city to Twin Forks and to distrubute a portion of their award or coordinate travel for the people."
"We certainly do not want to start an uproar with a mass migration and I think you would agree for the sake of safety and giving those truly deserving of the opportunity, that we should not make this arrangement known to everyone. Certainly we should not speak of it to the nobles or merchant houses of Elcadan, or they will surely contort it to their own ends." Validar is tamer in his speech towards the leaders of Elcadan as he does not know the political stance of the Order. No point in upsetting Boelle or her followers.
"We feel with the Temple's assistance and perhaps the building of a shrine in Twin Forks that the endeavor will appear to be one orchestrated by your Order and therefore draw less attention from those who could impede its true goal. We need to make sure the people who are offered this chance are ones who will make the most of it. There will be more opportunities in other areas in the future I am certain. This should be made available only to the truly needy and truly deserving."
"This endeavor can succeed without your assistance. However, there can be no doubt that if you contribute your resources, there is much more good that can be done, much quicker and reach many more deserving citizens of Cynalon. We have the ability to change lives here. What say you, Boelle of Azrella? Will you assist in this undertaking?"
Conquer or Die!
Chareos
Backing up a bit.
Validar listens closely to the young mage's offer of sacrifice for his comrade at arms. As he has removed himself from the process, Validar says nothing specifically about the man's offer to help placate their offended partner's hurt feelings. "If we all approached the group as you did, friend Chareos, we would all be much better served. Your compassion and understanding make me proud to stand by you in this mission for the Crown." Validar will look to Sherwood and wait to see if the mage is more interested in placating the snobby elf at Chareos' expense or if maturity and honor are what is respected here.
A sense of pride can be seen with in the young mage's face as he reflects on one of his leader's praise. "I thank you for your kind words, my friend. I too am honored as well as privileged to stand amongst all of you. And I hope that we have many adventures and tales to to tell in the future.
"Keep the wand, Chareos, you earned it. Since you lack the ranged attacks of either Kylie or Lilia, it will serve you best. If there is any error from this night is on myself and Validar for assuming that everyone understood exactly how the process would work. Tonight was a learning experience and the next such treasure disbursement will go much smoother."
Realizing that Sherwood is indeed right in the respect that his ranged attacks are limited with his sling he will adhere to the decision. " As you wish Sherwood. I do not believe that you and Validar are solely to blame for the results of tonight. After all are we not in this together? We should have shown more interest in the items we wished for. How were both of you to know which item we favored least or greatest of those we were interested in? The blame should lay upon all our shoulders. It is a learning experience as you say, nothing more."
Validar will stop the young mage in his actions. "Put away your gold, my friend. Sherwood already stated that they are for the taking of whomever so desired. We do not buy magick items from the group and if we did I trust that even a dozen darts would fetch a fair price in the hundreds."
A embarrassed look appears across his features. "I must have not heard him correctly for I was examining the structure and writing upon the wand. My apologizes." He will try to pay more attention as to the disbursement in the future, so he does not act the fool.
The ride to Elcaden is slow and Chareos begins to look around at his companions. A few look to be bothered by last night's events; a fact that he wishes to be remedied as soon as possible. He will approach Lilia slowly, "Pardon me Lilia, I merely wished to apologize for last night. I do not feel that the disbursement was fair. Lord Validar and Sherwood mean to do the best they can and by no means did they wish to be unfair to anyone here."
Realizing that the elf maiden may not wish to speak anyone this overcast day he will fall behind her as the day progresses. As he rides he will engage the others in conversation.
As we close within eyesight of Elcaden the Mage's tower towers over the rest of the city. They soon begin to travel within the slums and the smell is appalling. He covers his nose with the cuff of his robe as he follows the rest of the group.
Lady Sallavarian's estate soon comes into view as we are guided to the stables by Sherwood. The estate is quite remarkable and many hands are on staff. As they near the stables he hears a loud chirping coming from yet another stable. He cant help but what manner of creature is making the racket though it does seem bird like.
Lady Jallazari introduces herself and makes us feel welcome.
"It is pleasure to meet you both. " taking some of the others actions into account he will keep is distant from the psuedo dragon on her shoulders.
As they make their way inside Chareos cant help but marvel at her estate. The warmth alone is welcoming though Chareos begins to look at the decorations with her home. "Your estate is beautiful." He realizes this is an under statement.
We are ushered into her study where another adventuring party is apparently waiting. Most odd that majority of them are women and only one male. As introductions are made Chareos will take each women's hand and kiss it. " It is a pleasure to meet you all. I am Chareos."
As more information on the Swords of Cynalon are revealed he listens intently. This Nightmist is revealed to be an exotic elf maiden with Silver flowing hair. Most curious. He gives a slight chuckle at the treehugger comment though he supresses it quickly into a cough.
He mutters "Must be getting a cold."
Chareos will stay behind as the others leave and begin to flip through his tome studying spells for the upcoming day. He will engage in small talk with the others as the need arises.
"Don't you have any non-nobles in this country? Everyone seems to be Lady this and Lord That. Where are all the common folks?"
The women that was painting the picture is quite attractive and no doubt a foreigner of some type by her questions. "We do have non nobles among us Aswansea, though only a few. You merely have to seek us out."
"I noticed you were capturing your friend upon your isle. How long have you been painting?" He can't help but wonder how many men's hearts she has captured by her beauty.

The Witch is Back!
Lilia:
Lilia will look up from her book when she hears the knock on her door. Sherwood enters and hands her an old book, explaining that it holds his ancestor's Renee Sculley's theories on mage signatures and a few other additional spells. Lilia will eagerly dig into the new tome, setting her other book aside for the moment. She will attempt to learn all the spells contained within. She finds the Dancing Blade spell very desirable as it will allow her to be engaged in close combat and still lob spells or fire arrows at enemies.
Lilia remains quiet for most of the trip and will read when travel is slow, trusting her mount to follow the others without the need to be controlled constantly.
The elf is disgusted to see the lumber industry in Hendry! "Butchers of trees!", she will cry out in elvish. Fortunately, we don't stay but the sight will haunt Lilia for many years to come.
This 'City of Elcadan' is the sort of travesty the elf would have suspected of a human city. No regard for nature around them. Only lowly animals live in their own filth.
Thankfully we ride past the city and out to a more sedate and peaceful looking estate. Lilia picks up the cry of some great bird as we ride in and can't help but wonder what it is. It certainly sounds quite large.
Upon meeting Jallarzi, Lilia will say, "Greetings, Jallarzi Sallavarian," in elvish without even thinking about it. Jallarzi responds back in well spoken elvish much to Lilia's surprise.
"Greetings, Lilia of Clan Grunalf. Welcome to my home. There is someone inside whom you may find interesting. An elf much like yourself with very similar interests."
"Indeed", Lilia will respond, raising a curious eyebrow.
The Elf Maiden will give Edwina a curious eye, but keep her distance. She has seen a pseudo-dragon or two in the past back in the Elfholds. Like most dragonets, they are mischievous, but generally benign creatures.
Entering the house, we meet the others Jallarzi spoke of. This Arocken is an elfin ranger, much like Laucian. Having another elf around perks Lilia up.
Make that elves as she spots the person Jallarzi must have referred to earlier. Curled up in a ridiculously large human chair is another elf maiden deeply engrossed in a book. Even more surprising is that she is even smaller than Lilia! Almost child-like in size, but her eyes show a deep intelligence.
"Well met. I am Lilia of Clan Grunalf. What are you reading?"
Lilia does not wish to enter the human city and see its deplorable conditions up close. If the elf woman is agreeable, Lilia will converse with her.
This Nightmist being an elf woman does not greatly surprise Lilia. Her size does, however, as it is most unusual for an elf. Unless magic was somehow involved...
"As you say, Kylie, indeed not everyone is 'cut out' for this sort of life. If your worries and self doubts do continue, then perhaps it would be best to not continue on.""I-- I'm sure you are right, Lilia. Perhaps I am being silly, or letting my fears run away with me. I don't know that I am cut out for this, but I will continue to do my best. I can only hope that I can survive long enough to find out what happened to my mother."

"I am not dwelling on that debacle. Validar cares little for me, so it is not surprising. I should have expected it. But it is disturbing to see things this that you really wanted given thoughtlessly away as second choices to others before being even given one trinket. But, alas, he is a human and I should have expected such treatment.""I know last night upset you my friend, but please do not dwell on it. There are those among us that have seen to it that it will not happen again. Grondar tried to get you more than you bargained for. Even young Chareos was willing to sacrifice his wand in order to keep the peace. We are in good company, and I do not believe they will let it come to pass again."
"There is no need to apologize, Chareos, as you did not wrong me in any manner. The wand would have been an interesting trinket, but I now can toss Lightning Bolts on my own. Plus the wand will eventually use up its magic and fall into dust, so it is only a temporary magic item. Until that time, it will serve you well."He will approach Lilia slowly, "Pardon me Lilia, I merely wished to apologize for last night. I do not feel that the disbursement was fair. Lord Validar and Sherwood mean to do the best they can and by no means did they wish to be unfair to anyone here."

Lara the teacher
Lara:
The woman seated and reading will look up as the others enter the chamber. Jallarzi had taken Lara aside earlier and mentioned that one of the arrivals shared interests similar to her own, but was somewhat lacking in her maturity. Jallarzi requested that I try to help this elf, a Lilia, in overcoming her short comings.
"Why me?", Lara mentally sighed to herself. Still the prospect of meeting someone with similar interests was exciting. My conversations on things magical were most interesting with Kharyna, and Jallarzi was no slouch either, but they had only passing interests in the subject. So in spite of having to deal with this problem child, the thought of having someone to talk to was appealing.
Lara watched over her book as the others entered and greetings were exchanged.
"Greetings to each of you", Lara will wave over her book. "I am Lara Spellsword. As my name implies, I am both skilled in sword and sorcery."
Lara will let Swanny and Kharyna deal with the others as they are better suited for the task. There are some handsome men among them. The two elfin rangers are each handsome in their own way. It will be most unusual to have more men then women among us.
Not surprisingly, an elf woman approaches me. This must be our problem child. She also speaks in elvish.
"That sounds most interesting. What have you uncovered so far?"
Sliding over, Lara will gesture for Lilia to join her in the chair. "Here I'll show you."
Naturally, Swanny laughs at the tree hugger comment and Lara will send her visual daggers.

"Greetings, Lilia. I am Lara Spellsword. Alas I have no clan as I was not born in your Elfholds but on the Isle of Everwinter. The book I am reading concerns the life of the mage named Gaz. He constructed a large ruin that my friend Kharyna has been charged by Mystra to clean out so that it can be restored to its former glory as a grand temple to the Lady of Magic. I am attempting to learn more about Gaz so that I can gain insight on what to expect during our explorations of the ruins.""Well met. I am Lilia of Clan Grunalf. What are you reading?"

Talia the Shy
Talia:
Talia grows bored with posing for Swanny's latest artistic endeavor. Alas, there really isn't anything better to do while we wait.
Finally the door opens the others begin to stream in. The tell-tale sign of surprise comes to Talia's flawless face. Men. So many men. She can't help but shrink away from the sight of them all.
Talia will keep her distance and allow Swanny and Kharyna to engage them. Talia will stand behind Lara's chair and try to keep her distance. She will speak if spoken too, but prefers to avoid physical contact.

More Meeting the Guys...
Swanny:
Knowing how skittish Talia is around men these days, Swanny will happily intercept any that head her way. Given what happened to her, Swanny can understand and respect her feelings.
"I hope you guys are as good as you claim. It started to become a real drag carrying Daramos's body back to have him resurrected just as things were getting interested."
"I've been painting most of my life. It’s a hobby and a way to pass the inevitable wait one experiences as an adventurer. Although being out dancing with a cute guy or gambling are also welcome diversions." Swanny will smile at that last part.

"That's right, we're not from around here. We come from the Island of Neverwinter to the North and East. Just visiting, so to speak. And I do swing a fair sword."Validar will ignore Aswansea's first comment about them being able to survive, but cannot fail to address the second. "My lady, you have the look of a fine swordswoman about you. And clearly you are not from Cynalon. But I can assure you that my comrades and I are indeed in this adventure to see it through to its end. You will witness our valor and courage when we next see battle as I am sure we will witness yours."
"I hope you guys are as good as you claim. It started to become a real drag carrying Daramos's body back to have him resurrected just as things were getting interested."
"Ah," Swanny will say with an look of enlightenment. "That is good to know. Almost everyone we've met in this land has had a title of some sort. And please, call me Swanny. Everyone does."The woman that was painting the picture is quite attractive and no doubt a foreigner of some type by her questions. "We do have non nobles among us Aswansea, though only a few. You merely have to seek us out."
"Oh, Talia's not from Neverwinter like the rest of us. She's a local girl who---" Suddenly realizing that she's started to say more than she should, Swanny clams up for a moment. "Let's just say we helped her out of a bad situation and leave it at that.""I noticed you were capturing your friend upon your isle. How long have you been painting?" He can't help but wonder how many men's hearts she has captured by her beauty.
"I've been painting most of my life. It’s a hobby and a way to pass the inevitable wait one experiences as an adventurer. Although being out dancing with a cute guy or gambling are also welcome diversions." Swanny will smile at that last part.

Kylie takes the remaining magical daggers and all the items have now been given homes.
Arocken/Validar:
"Welcome to our temple, Lord Validar. May the Blue Lady bless you and your companions on your mission."
"I find your plan a most interesting and noble one, Lord Validar. Ivy was correct in having you come here to address me. Indeed, there is many here in Elcadan who could benefit from such an arrangement. I grow weary of having to beg for crumbs from the City Council to just feed the hungry. Without the donations we receive, Elcadan would be a much worse place."
"I believe that, succeed or not, your plan merits trying. The more people we can lift up from misery, the better for all. What do you need the sisters and I to do?"

Arocken/Validar:
"It was the least I could do and my path led to the same destination, so traveling together seemed prudent and gave each of company on the journey.""I thank you for accompanying her on the journey. While it is not as lawless as some of the Western parts of the Kingdom, there are many dangers just the same."
"Stemming the tide of vile humanoids is always a good thing. Too frequently have they endangered the Elfholds. I look forward to the campaigns to come.""Indeed we shall, friend Arocken.
The Cult of Blackflame will need to be fleshed out a bit more for Boelle. It's simply not something that is commonly known that much in this day and age. The older woman will consider Validar's words before speaking.Boelle:
"Welcome to our temple, Lord Validar. May the Blue Lady bless you and your companions on your mission."

Lord Corley off guard
Corley:
"Unfortunately, milady, I am not familiar with these parts. Perhaps Lady Sallavarian could supply the information that you desire?"
"Oh," Corley will say, mildly surprised. "Very good then."Validar will speak to Corley as the ready their mounts to depart. "Lord Corley, I had some very good conversations with this Lord Acerion last evening. He has committed as well to the recovery of Stone Ridge. I think it will be good to have the paladin's might alongside us. We also gain the favor of all who look on Heironeous with respect with his addition. Lady Ardel will be most pleased."
"Indeed there are other activities of interest, but I did give the fair Ivy my word that I would see the conditions of her city with my own eyes. I consider myself to be a man of my word.""Of course, Lord Corley, we would be pleased to have you join us.
"Milady, the fact that such a thing concerns you tells me that you are not as greedy as you suspect. A truly greedy person would have had no regrets over their actions. Alas, I cannot fathom the motivations of your friend. I did not find the way the items were disbursed to be that troubling, but then again I wouldn't know what items were of particular great value to her either."Kylie smiles at Corley, though her visage is a bit forlorn. "I'm concerned about Lilia. I know she feels slighted, and she's been so kind to me that I wish I could help, but she seems unwilling to talk about it at all. I fear some of the blame is on my head as well, as my greed got the better of me that night. I can't really apologize for that, as it is as much a part of me as anything. Having lived without anything of value to call my own for so long, I find it hard to resist wanting everything I can lay my hands on. It's not noble, but it's who I am. Still, Lilia is my friend, and I hate the thought of having contributed to her distress."
The openness of this Aswansea momentarily startles Lord Corley. Obviously she is not one to conceal her feelings and desires."Hey there," Swanny will say in greeting. She seems both surprised and pleased when the men, Corley and Acerion, kiss her hand. "What a charming greeting", she will say with a smile and wink. "I might like this place."
"Hello to you as well, Lord Corley." Kharyna watches the young warrior's reaction to meeting her friends, especially Aswansea. "I think you have an admirer, Swanny," Kharyna will say with a smile.
"Indeed. Obviously a man with excellent taste. So tell me, young noble, what do you for excitement in this town?"
"Unfortunately, milady, I am not familiar with these parts. Perhaps Lady Sallavarian could supply the information that you desire?"
We fight for King and Country!
Sherwood. Just Sherwood
Sherwood:
After departing the other riders, Sherwood will make his way to the High Road Inn with the intention of speaking to Galtman about Arkane and Artur's stop in Elcadan.
"Very good then. It is a satisfactory solution for all involved.""Thank you, Sherwood. That is what I will do." Kylie pauses to consider before continuing. "I will give them to my father at the next opportunity. I believe he will appreciate having them, and they will serve to protect him while I am away." She does indeed give them to her father when Sherwood takes her to visit him in Orlane before they depart. He seems happy to have them in his care, as they serve as a momento of both her and her mother.
"It sounds like you are making progress then. I would dearly love to have the time to explore those ruins, but alas Lady Mystra demands my presence elsewhere. I wish you well on your quest.""Oh, you know, a little here, a little there. We've gotten down about 6 layers so far in the current tower we're exploring. It's been interesting, but we're all ready to spend some time above ground for a bit."
After departing the other riders, Sherwood will make his way to the High Road Inn with the intention of speaking to Galtman about Arkane and Artur's stop in Elcadan.
I do what is necessary.
Ivy
Ivy:
Ivy will let the infamous treasure discussion pass. Might was well be talking to a tree. Ivy will depart the room, balling her fists in annoyance. "Our cause is just, our cause is just", she will mutter under her breath.
"There are six main temples in Elcadan. Mystra and Azrella in Old Town, Heironeous and Mortidus are in New Town, and in Crosstown are places for those who worship Tymora and Helm."
"There is also a placed called 'God's House" in Crosstown where there are small shrines to many of the other non-evil human gods where people can go to pay their respects."
"Typically, the only real dwarves seen in town are adventurers. Although that is beginning to change with the recovery of the dwarven city of Illefarn to the west."
"A most amazing feat to thwart the plans of a goddess, Kharyna. I am pleased that you were able to overcome the icy goddess' hold and bring warmth back to Neverwinter."
"Alas, my tale is not as dramatic or with such far reaching implications. My home village was overrun by undead while I was a babe. A party of adventurers found me days later crying in my basket concealed under some ivy. They named my Ivy and brought me to the Temple of Azrella here in Elcadan."
"When I was old enough, I joined the priesthood and undertook special training to gain skill in the slaying of undead. My task is to destroy undead wherever they may be found. This Cult of Blackfire seems to have been created by a lich and the fire itself drains away the life force of all who feel its embrace. Such a dire and vile thing must be stopped. It is this quest that has brought us here this day."
Once past the toll bridge, Ivy will ride into Old Town leading the others. She will point up the Temple of Mystra and the large Mage Guild Tower. Riding past the Marvelia, Ivy will ride up to the only home she's ever known.
Going inside, a smile comes to Ivy's face as she hears the children playing. She will greet the other priestess as they walk past.
Still carrying Sephie, Ivy will continue onward. She spots Elspeth along the way and stops to chat with her friend. Saying that they will talk later, Ivy asks to see Boelle, and will transfer Sephie over to Elspeth. This is not a meeting for children to be attending.
Ivy will great Boelle with a warm hug and then turn over the donations given to her and all but a few coins of the monetary treasure she earned on this mission.
"Mother Boelle, may I present my companions: Lord Validar, Lord Corley, Lord Acerion, and Grondar of Berronar." (She will include anyone else who comes along too.)
"Lord Validar has a matter that he wishes to discuss with the temple that may be a great benefit to all involved."
Ivy will step back and allow Lord Validar to speak his peace.
Ivy will let the infamous treasure discussion pass. Might was well be talking to a tree. Ivy will depart the room, balling her fists in annoyance. "Our cause is just, our cause is just", she will mutter under her breath.
"Thank you, milady. I look forward to seeing her there.""Hello, Ivy. Yes, Elspeth returned with me and has returned to your temple."
"Of course you may, friend Grondar. For better or worse, Elcadan is a free city and anyone may enter. Alas, the residents of the city are primarily human and I know of no temples dedicated to any demi-human god within its boundaries."Grondar will ask Ivy if he may be allowed to accompany her on the visit to her temple. He would enjoy learning more of her order, and he is fairly certain that few of the dwarven deities have facilities in this wretched city.
Ivy listens to Kharyna's tale with great fascination. It was said that the Isle of Neverwinter used to be locked into a perpetual winter had been called the Isle of Everwinter until the hold of the cold goddess was broken."Kharyna, it is.

It is this quest that has brought us here this day."
"Of course, I will, Laucian. Thank you very much for your generosity." As per her habit, Ivy will kiss Laucian on the cheek in gratitude. After the meeting is concluded he will ask Ivy for a moment of her time. Reaching into his money pouch he will remove 10 gems and place them in Ivy's hand. "The children of this city need this far more than I. Will you see that your order sees to their needs?"
Ivy will give Sephie a great big hug. She has to be among the nicest and cutest children that she's seen. The priestess suspects Sephie to be a half-elf who was abandoned here in the city. Surely no responsible parent would part with such a lovely child."IVY!", a little girl cries out and runs to hug the priestess.
Still carrying Sephie, Ivy will continue onward. She spots Elspeth along the way and stops to chat with her friend. Saying that they will talk later, Ivy asks to see Boelle, and will transfer Sephie over to Elspeth. This is not a meeting for children to be attending.

Jallarzi:
When asked to clarify, Jallarzi will add that Farthon is her griffon. Since griffon's are fond of horseflesh, Farthon is stalled well away from the stables.
"Welcome, Chareos. Don't concern yourselves over the racket that Farthon is making. She's just annoyed that I haven't come out to see her today."Lady Sallavarian's estate soon comes into view as we are guided to the stables by Sherwood. The estate is quite remarkable and many hands are on staff. As they near the stables he hears a loud chirping coming from yet another stable. He can't help but what manner of creature is making the racket though it does seem bird like.
Lady Jallarzi introduces herself and makes us feel welcome.
"It is pleasure to meet you both. " taking some of the others actions into account he will keep is distant from the pseudo-dragon on her shoulders
When asked to clarify, Jallarzi will add that Farthon is her griffon. Since griffon's are fond of horseflesh, Farthon is stalled well away from the stables.
"Thank you, Chareos. Much of this was constructed by and for my ancestors. I many keep the place from falling into disrepair."As they make their way inside Chareos can't help but marvel at her estate. The warmth alone is welcoming though Chareos begins to look at the decorations with her home. "Your estate is beautiful." He realizes this is an under statement.
With Swanny looking for some excitement, Jallarzi will add, "There are several fine eating establishments in Elcadan. The Lowerfalls Inn is a charming place. I would recommend trying the Streel River Trout as it is unique to this region. There are several gambling houses in town, along with places for those looking for more-- shall we say more personal delights?""Unfortunately, milady, I am not familiar with these parts. Perhaps Lady Sallavarian could supply the information that you desire?"

Grondar:
There are many woman here, both among his companions and others, who are attractive by human standards. Yet none are of any particular interest to him. Would that this all-female group included a dwarf or gnome among there number...
It occurs to Grondar that he has met many people on this trip, but not one other dwarf or gnome of either gender. How strange. Are his people really so rare in these parts?
The mention of Illefarn brings a smile to his face. The recovery of that town is a point of pride with many dwarves.
With Ivy's and Validar's acceptance, Grondar joins the others on the trip to the temple. He is bothered by the exchange at the bridge, but he knows little of human cities, so remains quiet and allows the others to handle the situation as appropriate. Fortunately, it is not long before they continue on their way.
Grondar eyes the buildkings as they pass, evaluating the workmanship and age. This part of the city is far nicer than those they travelled through earlier. Again, Grondar has no comprehension of why some are allowed to live so much better than others. In a dwarven city, some may have larger homes than others, though that is usually due to the longevity of the family and their own hard work. All of the city is kept clean and all are fed and their basic needs provided for. Sloth is quite rare, and usually leads to being sent out of the city. Even greedy dwarves rarely steal from their neighbors.
Finally, they reach the temple to Azrella. Grondar smiles at the children and especially Ivy's young friend. "Greetings, Sephie. I am Grondar, priest of the dwarven goddess Berronar Truesilver. May she watch over and protect you." He notes that she seems to be of a similar ethnicity to Kylie.
Grondar greets Elspeth and Boelle as graciously as he can manage, bowing a bit awkwardly. "A pleasure to meet you both. My name is Grondar Foehammer. May the grace of Azrella and the shield of Berronar ever have a unity of purpose. It is a priviledge to visit your fine temple and see your good works."
When Lord Validar makes his presentation, Grondar sits quietly nearby. While he is not yet clear on all the details, he supports Validar's plan in principle.
Later, he will approach Elspeth. "May I speak with you a moment, Lady Elspeth?"
Grondar bows awkwardly to the lady of the house. "I am honored by your gracious hospitality, Lady Sallavarian.""Greetings Grondar of Berronar. I am pleased to finally meet you. I've heard much about you. I welcome you to my home."
A deep rumbling chuckle, like two rocks being ground together, emits from Grondar's chest. "Aye, fair lady. I am as much a common folk as you might imagine.""Don't you have any non-nobles in this country? Everyone seems to be Lady this and Lord That. Where are all the common folks?"

Grondar listens as Ivy discusses the temples in this city. He is not particularly surprised that there are no temples to dwarven dieties. "Perhaps it might be worth a visit to this God's House. Perhaps those who manage it could be persuaded to allow shrines to other gods as well. At least then, those non-humans who pass through - whether adventurers or from nearby towns and cities - will have an opportunity to give observance to their beliefs.""Of course you may, friend Grondar. Kylie:
"I seem to be developing certain... feelings for one of my companions. It is hard seeing so many others display an attraction to him, yet I can't bring myself to speak with him directly about it. It's frustrating; it... hurts, and I don't know what to do or how to act."
"What about you, Arocken? Where do your skills lie?"

The mention of interesting things to do in town is of some interest to Kylie. However, this city holds many bad memories for her, and she decides not to venture out. Instead, she spends her time learning some of the spells Sherwood has provided. Additionally, she visits Jallarzi's kitchen and bakes some of the tarts that Edwina likes so well. Knowing that she needs to get along with as many of these new people as possible, Kylie makes a large batch, so that there are suffient for any who want them.
Lilia's words do little to ease Kylie's concerns. "You may be right. However, I made a commitment, and I will stand by it for as long as I can manage it." Whether this is a matter of pride or honor for her is not clear."As you say, Kylie, indeed not everyone is 'cut out' for this sort of life. If your worries and self doubts do continue, then perhaps it would be best to not continue on."
Corley's words bring a weak, momentary smile to light Kylie's face. "I know not whether you are right, but I thank you for your words."Milady, the fact that such a thing concerns you tells me that you are not as greedy as you suspect. A truly greedy person would have had no regrets over their actions. Alas, I cannot fathom the motivations of your friend. I did not find the way the items were disbursed to be that troubling, but then again I wouldn't know what items were of particular great value to her either."
Kylie smiles sheepishly. "Thank you, Jallarzi. I am doing the best I can, though I have doubts about my fitness for this task.""Hello Kylie. Sherwood has spoken well of your exploits. I am proud of you."
Raising one eyebrow, Kylie taps her lips with her finger as though debating the idea in her mind. "Hmm... I suppose I might be persuaded to fix a little something or other later this evening... We shall see.""Rodents!?!", Edwina screeches where little eyes nearly bulging out. "BLECH! Tell you what, I've forgive you if you whip up some of your special pastries for me! Please?"
Anger, embarassment and a dozen other emotions flit across Kylie's face. She looks around to make sure they are alone before replying. "Yes. No... I don't know."Kylie, you seem not quite yourself this evening. Is something bothering you? I remember that scowl you're trying to hide from before," Kharyna says with a smile when she has a chance to speak to her apart from the others.
"I seem to be developing certain... feelings for one of my companions. It is hard seeing so many others display an attraction to him, yet I can't bring myself to speak with him directly about it. It's frustrating; it... hurts, and I don't know what to do or how to act."
"Well... I have some training, admittedly, but I specialize in the finding of lost items. The magic is really just a tool to assist in that endeavor."Well met, Kylie of Elcadan. I take it that you are a sorceress then?"
"What about you, Arocken? Where do your skills lie?"

VALIDAR -
Chareos -A sense of pride can be seen with in the young mage's face as he reflects on one of his leader's praise. "I thank you for your kind words, my friend. I too am honored as well as privileged to stand amongst all of you. And I hope that we have many adventures and tales to to tell in the future."
"Indeed we shall, friend Chareos. Indeed we shall. Some might say that glory and honor come easier to one who does not search for it, but I find this sort of talk foolish. For how can one expect to complete incredible deeds if they do not search them out. Life is what we make of it. It is our choice. To sit back and let it happen around you is a tragedy."
"As you wish Sherwood.
Validar is silent, but he is pleased that the young mage has some sense and tact about the situation. He will make a fine member of this group, Validar thinks.
Ivy will let the infamous treasure discussion pass. Might was well be talking to a tree. Ivy will depart the room, balling her fists in annoyance. "Our cause is just, our cause is just", she will mutter under her breath.
Seeing Ivy stalk off, muttering under her breath, Validar cannot fathom why she cannot see the error in her logic after multiple explanations. She has a good heart, but seems far too emotional to the young noble. Better he thinks to rule your emotions, than the other way around.
Corley -"Indeed there are other activities of interest, but I did give the fair Ivy my word that I would see the conditions of her city with my own eyes. I consider myself to be a man of my word."
"Of that, I have no doubt, my good friend."
The Temple of Azrella -
"Welcome to our temple, Lord Validar.
"I would have expected there to be difficulty in dealing with the ruling bodies of Elcadan. We have always had trouble in any negotiations that involved them, either directly or in court at Alexandria."
"The Temple's involvement would include perhaps establishing someone in Twin Forks as a contact person once the people arrive there. I am sure that you would want to conduct a shrine their as well. With all the people there who will be assisted by your order, I am sure it will receive much use."
"We will need your order to identify the best candidates for this program and ensure their silence. The full details may be given only after they are on their way. We need some sort of caravan established for them and we will provide that as well as hiring guard support for the short trip. Even counting 2200 gold for guards and the caravan for numerous trips, there is enough gold set aside for about 140 families to be paid 12 gp each this year and cover another 12 gp per family next year as well."
"Much of the funds are in goods and are being transfered to gold as we speak. We will have a porton of the funds brought here to get the process started and the rest will be held in Pyris and disbursed monthly to Twin Forks for safe hand outs."
"Keep the talk quiet and do not let those benefitting know too much until they are ready to leave. I am sure you can entice people to leave here just with the offer of a gold coin and a chance to build in a new place. Twin Forks will have strict building guidelines. We will not allow it to be a disorderly place either. The town militia will be a fine source of work and grow readily to help protect the project."
That is all you need to do: identify suitable candidates, keep the idea quiet and coordinate the travel to Twin Forks, as well as establish whatever base you wish there yourselves. It seems a no-lose situation for your Order."
Conquer or Die!
a meeting...
Sherra:
Sherra walks by the stable removed from the others and hears an entirely unique sound coming from them. She had heard the noise earlier but did not pinpoint where it had indeed come from. Looking about, Sherra tries to see if there are any stable hands nearby and will ask them if it would be alright to see what is within this stable. If she needs to seek out Jallarzi to ask, she will do so. Upon hearing it is a griffon stabled there, Sherra will definitely be eager to see it, having never seen one that she can recall. Maybe if Jallarzi is going to visit her griffon anyway, Sherra could tag along...
Later on as it appears that those that left for Elcadan will be some time in coming back, Sherra will seek out Talia. Judging the nervous woman's reaction, she will proceed with caution, "Greetings Talia, I am Sherra. I could not help but overhear some of Swanny's words. When she said you were a local girl, did she mean from here in Elcadan? Several of us are, or have spend quite some time here in the past, like myself. I do not intend to pry, but I too was helped out of a bad situation here, only it was Sherwood who saved me."
Sherra will see how Talia reacts before trying to proceed further with any conversation.
Sherra takes note of Talia's shrinking away and then listens to Swanny's unintentional but interesting revealing of information about Talia. Sherra thinks about that as she wanders the grounds of the estate, and finds how expansive it is."Oh, Talia's not from Neverwinter like the rest of us. She's a local girl who---" Suddenly realizing that she's started to say more than she should, Swanny clams up for a moment. "Let's just say we helped her out of a bad situation and leave it at that."

Acerion
Acerion:
"There are six main temples in Elcadan. Mystra and Azrella in Old Town, Heironeous and Mortidus are in New Town, and in Crosstown are places for those who worship Tymora and Helm."
Acerion will ask Ivy, "Perhaps if time allows after this important meeting you could show me where the temple to Heironeous is. If you have other matters to attend and do not wish to accompany me, just point me in the right direction, I would be greatly honored."
Showing Sephie better, you can see that she is part elvish with slightly point ears. Sephie can't be much older then four or five and is indeed quite cute. "Oh, shiny armor!", Sephie will cry out.
Acerion will smile at the half-elven child. Her innocence and high spirit is a pleasure to see, as Acerion is sure there are many here within Elcadan who do not have such happiness. He will smile at Ivy as she holds Sephie.
Upon meeting Elspeth, Acerion will bow his head slightly and kiss her hand if she is receptive. When he locks his gaze upon her eyes he will visibly pause, seeing something he really did not expect to see within the windows to her soul. He will break the gaze so as not to be rude to Elspeth and be left pondering this revelation. If given the chance, he will try to speak to Elspeth a bit more privately to ask her a question or two.
Acerion will pay Boelle great respect and bow his head slightly as Ivy makes introductions. He will then move to one side and listen to Validar as he explains his plan and his desire to include this temple in its actions. Acerion will approve of what is proposed and be impressed to the length that Validar has gone to think this through. It is a sound plan and from what Acerion can gather about all he knows, Validar has chosen some strong allies to see this plan take hold and become a boon to all involved.

Laucian
"Welcome brother ranger," Arocken will say, grasping hands with Laucian. "And a follower of the Lady of the Forests to boot, very good. I call the Elfholds my home, friend. Clan Red Arrow."
"I look forward to our endeavors together." Arocken looks down and notices his holy symbol. " I have been In Elhonna's service for sometime now. Matter of fact I was raised with in the walls of one of her temples since I was knee high." Realizing he is being vague he will elaborate. "My village was attacked by an orc raiding party and was soon overrun. My mother was wounded in the conflict and fled with me in her arms. We reached a Temple of the Lady of the forests, the priests their did everything they could for her but Sadly it wasn't enough. She died soon after. I Only have two things to remind me of her, " Reaching into his tunic he will take out a necklace with highly polished stones with engraving upon them as well as his bow. "They are all that I have of her memory."
"Welcome, Laucian of Ehlonna to my humble abode. Edwina is, for better or worse, my familiar. She is a pseudo-dragon. Surely you've seen her kind, along with faerie dragons, before in the Elfholds?"
Edwina will regard Laucian with interest. "An elf. We don’t get many of those around here. Ohh, and an elf offering fruit!" Edwina will devour the apple in just a few gulps. "I like him. He can stay."
"I have seen her kind only in passing. Lady Edwina is the first that I have had the pleasure of speaking with."
Turning to Edwina, "I am glad I meet your approval."
As introductions are made Swanny speaks up.
"And to you as well. It's amazing that you have some many men, and of various races, in your group. The most we ever had was one and he kept dying!"
"I am sorry for the loss of your comrade." he cant help wonder if this comrade of theirs was trying to impress one of the many ladies and paid dearly for it.
Noticing the quiet and withdrawn form of Talia behind Lara's chair. Laucian will approach her and introduce himself. "Good day to you. I am Laucian Nailo and you are?." as he extends a hand in greeting. "What skills do you possess?"

KHARYNA
"I wonder how long these guys will last," Swanny will say to Kharyna. "Anyone care to take a wager?"
Kharyna will give Swanny a look, but she knows her friend is just being playful.
"That's right, we're not from around here. We come from the Island of Neverwinter to the North and East. Just visiting, so to speak. And I do swing a fair sword."
"I hope you guys are as good as you claim. It started to become a real drag carrying Daramos's body back to have him resurrected just as things were getting interested."
"Come now, Swanny. You have to admit, poor Daramos was rather brave to continue with his string of bad luck. I don't blame him for finally retiring. Many adventurers never get that chance. And he is a rich man now too."
"Oh, you know, a little here, a little there. We've gotten down about 6 layers so far in the current tower we're exploring. It's been interesting, but we're all ready to spend some time above ground for a bit."
"It sounds like you are making progress then. I would dearly love to have the time to explore those ruins, but alas Lady Mystra demands my presence elsewhere. I wish you well on your quest."
"There's still a lot to explore. We're still have quite a ways to go to recover the shrine to Boccob. But it has been interesting. I look forward to returning sometime soon."
Ivy listens to Kharyna's tale with great fascination. It was said that the Isle of Neverwinter used to be locked into a perpetual winter had been called the Isle of Everwinter until the hold of the cold goddess was broken.
"Neverwinter was beign altered by an evil artifact. So it was a matter of learning that, I always have been interested in history and managing to destroy it. I had help, but it was very satisfying nonetheless. However, I am sure I hold her emnity to this day."
"As for the Cult of the Blackflame, I hope we can be of some assistance. I cannot say our group is very politically motivated. We usually look for ancient magickal interests. Lara is also interested in unique magick and Swanny just likes the adventure, so she's easy. I hope you succeed in your quest."
Jallarzi -"Welcome, Chareos. Don't concern yourselves over the racket that Farthon is making. She's just annoyed that I haven't come out to see her today."
"If you're heading out, I would love to see her again. It has been awhile since I've had a chance to ride her."
Grondar - The mention of Illefarn brings a smile to his face. The recovery of that town is a point of pride with many dwarves.
Kharyna sees the look of satisfaction on the dwarf's face and gives him a knowing smile. Then she looks away quickly.
"Kylie, you seem not quite yourself this evening. Is something bothering you? I remember that scowl you're trying to hide from before," Kharyna says with a smile when she has a chance to speak to her apart from the others.
Anger, embarassment and a dozen other emotions flit across Kylie's face. She looks around to make sure they are alone before replying. "Yes. No... I don't know.
"I seem to be developing certain... feelings for one of my companions. It is hard seeing so many others display an attraction to him, yet I can't bring myself to speak with him directly about it. It's frustrating; it... hurts, and I don't know what to do or how to act."
An easy smile comes to Kharyna's beautiful features. "Oh, Kylie, you are making this so much harder on yourself than you need to. So tell me, which one of these guys is it? There are quite a few respectable choices there."
"If there are others who seem interested in your young hero, then perhaps you should let him know of your own attraction. Has he responded with interest back to you?"
"I wonder how long these guys will last," Swanny will say to Kharyna. "Anyone care to take a wager?"

Elspeth
Elspeth:
Elspeth is delighted when her friend Ivy is spotted in the temple. The two grew up together in the orphanage and were as close as sisters. Much to her surprise, Ivy is not alone. Lord Validar and Lord Corley are known to Elspeth, but the others are not.
"Welcome home, Ivy. I see that you are not alone. Good to see you again, Lords Validar and Corley. What can we do for you this day?"
After finding out that they are here to see Boelle about some project, Elspeth will take Sephie from Ivy letting her carry out her duties.
"Certainly, Lord Acerion. What is it you wish to discuss?"

By now, Elspeth has spent much time around the nobility and is comfortable with Lord Acerion's actions. The gentle healer will look up into Acerion's own eyes and see something that she was not quite expecting. There is something different about him, but what she cannot fathom.Upon meeting Elspeth, Acerion will bow his head slightly and kiss her hand if she is receptive.

Jallarzi:
"Of course", Jallarzi will add with a grin, "All one needs to do to make Edwina a friend for life is feed her."
Later on, Jallarzi will show Farthon to those who wish to see her. Farthon is a typical griffon, combining the features of an eagle and a lion. She stands 5' high and is easily 9' long. Her full wingspan is 25'. Her head, upper torso, and forelegs are like those of a giant eagle. This eagle half is covered in golden feathers from her wingtips to her razor sharp beak. The rest of her body is lion like covered with tawny fur and tail.
Jallarzi will fearlessly step up to the griffon and scratch its head.
"I've had Farthon since she was a hatchling. She quite tame, unlike her kind found in the wild. Still, I wouldn't venture too close until you've earned her trust."
"And we can ask for little more. You are stronger then you realize, Kylie."Kylie smiles sheepishly. "Thank you, Jallarzi. I am doing the best I can, though I have doubts about my fitness for this task."
Edwina will lick her lips in eager anticipation.Raising one eyebrow, Kylie taps her lips with her finger as though debating the idea in her mind. "Hmm... I suppose I might be persuaded to fix a little something or other later this evening... We shall see."
"That is not surprising. Most Pseudo-dragons keep to themselves in the wild.""I have seen her kind only in passing. Lady Edwina is the first that I have had the pleasure of speaking with."
"Indeed you should, elf. I am a most excellent judge of character.Turning to Edwina, "I am glad I meet your approval."
"Of course", Jallarzi will add with a grin, "All one needs to do to make Edwina a friend for life is feed her."
"That's not a bad idea, Kharyna. I've been away often as of late and haven't been spending much time with her. So if you wish to take her out, do so with my blessing. She could use the exercise."Jallarzi -"Welcome, Chareos. Don't concern yourselves over the racket that Farthon is making. She's just annoyed that I haven't come out to see her today."

Grondar:
"I'm sorry to bother you," Grondar replies, "but I'm hoping you can help me. I believe my order's nearest temple is in Crossroads, and I haven't had the opportunity to report my activities in a while. Do you know of any secure, reliable means by which I might send messages and, perhaps, funds to our temple?""Of course-- Grondar was it? What is it you wish to discuss, my friend?"

Kylie:
"I-- I don't know. He seems to respond at times, but yet he responds in like manner to all of the other women as well. It's just... I've never been interested in a man in this way, and I don't know what I'm doing or what to expect. And while talking to him about it would probably be the right thing to do, I just can't bring myself to do it." A note of anxiety creeps into Kylie's voice at the thought of being so forward.
Kylie will join those going to visit the griffon. She has an odd relationship with the flying beast. She likes Farthon, and he seems to respond well to her, yet she is terrified of actually riding him. Kylie brings an apple and offers it to him, then begins to scratch him behind the ear in the spot that he has always liked.
Embarassment covers Kylie's fine features. "Lord Corley," she replies in a small voice. An easy smile comes to Kharyna's beautiful features. "Oh, Kylie, you are making this so much harder on yourself than you need to. So tell me, which one of these guys is it? There are quite a few respectable choices there."

She likes Farthon, and he seems to respond well to her, yet she is terrified of actually riding him. Kylie brings an apple and offers it to him, then begins to scratch him behind the ear in the spot that he has always liked.

GM Notes:
Edwina and the tarts:
Edwina will flutter about, annoying most as she pokes her little nose into just about everything. For a time she'll land on the back of the chair where Lara & Lilia are reading and stare over their shoulders. Later she'll watch Kylie as she works in the kitchen on her tarts before moving on to torment others.
Later that evening, Kylie will be surprised, but not too surprised at the same time, to find that Edwina devoured all the tarts. The little pseudo-dragon is just laying there, on her back yet, among the remains of the tarts, partially covered by the gooey filling, her belly bulging largely sleeping contentedly.
Kylie/Arocken:
Laucian/Arocken:
Grondar/Sephie:
"He's fuzzy!", Sephie will announce.
Grondar/Boelle:
Validar/Boelle:
"I find the arrangement you propose most agreeable. Come and sit, young noble. Let us iron out the specifics of the arrangement and what you require from us."
(Basically the nuts and bolts of the deal, timetables, etc. Stuff you don't have to go into online. Boelle can supply what you need from her.)

Kylie/Arocken:
"I am a skill woodsman and warrior. Unlike your friend Laucian, I am not a priest of the Lady of the Forests, but do hold her in high esteem.""Well... I have some training, admittedly, but I specialize in the finding of lost items. The magic is really just a tool to assist in that endeavor.
"What about you, Arocken? Where do your skills lie?"
Laucian/Arocken:
"A sad tale, my friend, but as long as orcs remain it shall be one that is repeated. Treasure the memory of your mother and I hope she is pleased with what her son has become.""I look forward to our endeavors together." Arocken looks down and notices his holy symbol. We reached a Temple of the Lady of the forests, the priests there did everything they could for her but Sadly it wasn't enough. She died soon after. I Only have two things to remind me of her, " Reaching into his tunic he will take out a necklace with highly polished stones with engraving upon them as well as his bow. "They are all that I have of her memory."
Grondar/Sephie:
Little Sephie will be entranced by Grondar's appearance and look at him wide eyed. She'll reach out with her little hand and playfully tug on her beard, but not to hard.
"He's fuzzy!", Sephie will announce.
Grondar/Boelle:
"You are most welcome within our halls, Grondar of Berronar. It has been many years since I last encountered a follower of Truesilver. We are honored with your presence. Followers of Berronar are always welcomed in the Temples of the Blue Lady."Grondar greets Elspeth and Boelle as graciously as he can manage, bowing a bit awkwardly. "A pleasure to meet you both. My name is Grondar Foehammer. May the grace of Azrella and the shield of Berronar ever have a unity of purpose. It is a privilege to visit your fine temple and see your good works."

Lilia and the vulture of doom...
Lilia:
Intrigued by the book Lara is reading, Lilia will climb up next to her in the chair. Gaz was among the mages who made up the Fellowship of Mages. While he did eventually go insane, he did not become a lich, at least it is believed that he did not.
It is said that he built a great fortress near the shores of the northeastern side of Lake Amsorak, highlighted by three great towers. The Tower of War, the Tower of Power, and the Tower of Gaz. It is also said that the fortress fell, all that remains is the lower levels of each tower, said to number at least 10 levels deep each. Gaz was a devote follower of Boccob, who is now believed to be a male avatar of Mystra.
To explore and uncover the secrets of this tower would greatly interest Lilia.
Hearing a noise above her, Lilia will look up and be surprised to find the toothy grin of Edwina looking back at her.
"Do you mind?"
"Not at all", Edwina answers back. "Continue to study and learn, elf. But not all there is to learn can be found in a book."
After making her strange announcement, Edwina flies off once more.

Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!
Talia's secret...
Talia:
"Talia", she'll finally say. "I'm a scout, of sorts. Please excuse me."
With that, Talia makes a hasty departure from the study to the more quiet privacy of the guest room she is sharing with Lara.
Talia is a bit startled when Sherra approaches her, but noticeably relaxes more.
"Hello, Sherra. Swanny is somewhat a bit too free with her words at times, but I know she means well." Talia will pause to let out a loud sigh.
"You have the look of a rogue to you, Sherra, not that I mind. In fact, I find that a bit comforting. Like you I live by my wits and my wiles."
"I'm local in the sense that I'm from Cynalon and not Neverwinter like the rest of the girls. I was a member of a different adventuring party that was exploring Gaz's ruins. We were overrun by orogs and some of the group was killed, some were captured. I did what I had to, to stay alive…"
Talia trails off at this point.
"Eventually, Kharyna and her companions found me and I gladly joined up with them. I think I found a home with them, a place I belong. Even better there were no men with us. I'm just not ready to deal with men. I hope you can make them understand that it's not personal."
(For the curious Orog's is an elite form of orc. Some suggest the result of ogre/orc breeding.)
Talia becomes more agitated as Laucian approaches her. She looks as if she's ready to jump out of her skin and does not offer her hand.Noticing the quiet and withdrawn form of Talia behind Lara's chair. Laucian will approach her and introduce himself. "Good day to you. I am Laucian Nailo and you are?." as he extends a hand in greeting. "What skills do you possess?"
"Talia", she'll finally say. "I'm a scout, of sorts. Please excuse me."
With that, Talia makes a hasty departure from the study to the more quiet privacy of the guest room she is sharing with Lara.
Several of us are, or have spent quite some time here in the past, like myself. I do not intend to pry, but I too was helped out of a bad situation here, only it was Sherwood who saved me."

Swanny
Swanny:
Her features will soften and Swanny will add, "I meant no offense to you. We just had some bad experiences with dwarves in the past and I find it hard to be relaxed around them still."
Swanny will laugh at that last comment. "Why Jallarzi, have you been out sneaking around without me? No, I think a little gambling would be a nice way to relax this evening. Too bad we have to leave in the morning. I'm sure I could find even more amusing activities to spend my time on. Anyone want to go spend some money with me?"With Swanny looking for some excitement, Jallarzi will add, "There are several fine eating establishments in Elcadan. The Lowerfalls Inn is a charming place. I would recommend trying the Streel River Trout as it is unique to this region. There are several gambling houses in town, along with places for those looking for more-- shall we say more personal delights?"
Swanny will turn and eye the dwarf closely. "Indeed, you are dwarf", she'll slay bluntly.A deep rumbling chuckle, like two rocks being ground together, emits from Grondar's chest. "Aye, fair lady. I am as much a common folk as you might imagine."
Her features will soften and Swanny will add, "I meant no offense to you. We just had some bad experiences with dwarves in the past and I find it hard to be relaxed around them still."
"Oh, we didn't really lose him. He finally got tired of dying and hung up his sword. I would imagine that if I died half a dozen times, I probably would think twice about walking into a dungeon too.""I am sorry for the loss of your comrade." he cant help wonder if this comrade of theirs was trying to impress one of the many ladies and paid dearly for it.
"That is one way to look at it", Swanny will concede. "Or maybe he just had a sweet spot for you.""Come now, Swanny. You have to admit, poor Daramos was rather brave to continue with his string of bad luck. I don't blame him for finally retiring. Many adventurers never get that chance. And he is a rich man now too."
a bit of conversation..
Sherra:
Sherra will pause for a moment before continuing, "I will pass on your desire to not be approached by any of the men within our group. Laucian is a good man from what I've seen, as are pretty much all the others, but I'll let you draw your own conclusions when you know the time is right for you." Sherra will give a comforting smile.
Sherra will engage in any other small talk if Talia is up to it. She will focus on her pleasant memories of being at sea with the feel of a sturdy ship beneath her bare feet. Once it becomes obvious that Talia wants some space and solitude, Sherra will depart with a smile.
She will then try to find Laucian and let him know he did nothing wrong. "Laucian, I learned that Talia had a very bad experience with men in her past and is trying to work through it. She wanted me to tell you that it's not anything personal, and I believe she will just need some time before she becomes more open on her own."
Sherra will try to make sure Laucian doesn't feel too put out and will spend some time talking with him if he wants to, and suggest maybe they can get in some target practice with their bows if he's feeling up to doing such.
Sherra will reply, "I spent most of my life on the open sea with some less-than-savory characters. I learned what I could though so that I could survive, and then made my departure when the time was right.""You have the look of a rogue to you, Sherra, not that I mind. In fact, I find that a bit comforting. Like you I live by my wits and my wiles."
Sherra's mood will become a bit more somber, "It must have been something most dreadful for you to feel the way you do towards men. I have had my share of bad experiences but have seen that there are good ones also. If not for Sherwood's intervention in the not so distant past, I probably would not have had the pleasure of meeting all of you here today.""Eventually, Kharyna and her companions found me and I gladly joined up with them. I think I found a home with them, a place I belong. Even better there were no men with us. I'm just not ready to deal with men. I hope you can make them understand that it's not personal."

Talia
Talia:
"Let's just say that I didn't shed any tears when they killed that orog high priest."Sherra's mood will become a bit more somber, "It must have been something most dreadful for you to feel the way you do towards men. I have had my share of bad experiences but have seen that there are good ones also. If not for Sherwood's intervention in the not so distant past, I probably would not have had the pleasure of meeting all of you here today."
"Thank you, Sherra. The idea of being touched by them just makes my skin crawl and sick inside. I know they are just trying to be friendly, but I'm just not ready…"Sherra will pause for a moment before continuing, "I will pass on your desire to not be approached by any of the men within our group. Laucian is a good man from what I've seen, as are pretty much all the others, but I'll let you draw your own conclusions when you know the time is right for you." Sherra will give a comforting smile.
Talia doesn't mind the company or the conversation. She'll relate that she's more of a dungeon scout, locating and disarming traps, finding safe paths, and opening locks than the traditional robbery thief you find in cities.Sherra will engage in any other small talk if Talia is up to it. She will focus on her pleasant memories of being at sea with the feel of a sturdy ship beneath her bare feet.
