Danger seemed to never be far for the crew of the Archelon. A load of flash-frozen seafood was bargained for by Roona and it has finished being loaded into the cargo hold. As the waves lap against the footings of the docking platform where the repaired ship is resting and the sun is beginning to set on the far horizon, the crackle of a faint transmission is heard from the ship's comm system.
<Static> “...anyone there? I've suffered a malfunction and my skiff is sinking. If you can hear me, I need help. Please, if anyone is out there...” <Static>
The voice, it should be mentioned, is that of a Human female, one who sounds fairly refined in her upbringing. Xander runs a scan on the ship's sensor suite which locates the source of the transmission. It's not far away.
The crew decides to investigate and the Archelon is soon on it's way. The source of the transmission is an Ubrikkian Bantha II cargo skiff, one that is clearly having problems. The vehicle is partially submerged in the turbulent ocean, with waves continually cresting over it. At the control console, a Human female struggles to keep it operating, while also fighting the waves to keep an unconscious Human male aboard.
Settling in over the struggling skiff, Ymira managed to hover the Archelon while, Irdis and Roona prepared to rescue the skiff's occupants. However, as Roona was getting set to rappel down to the sinking ship, a giant eel-like creature burst from the water and chomped down on both boat and the unconscious human. It then disappeared under the waves. Zavi rushed to the gunnery area as soon as this happened.
A few moments later the keelkana crashed into the ship once more trying to get at the remaining inhabitant. Zavi took the opportunity and fired the ship's dorsal gun at the sea monster. Despite it being partially submerged, the blast took the creature in the side, blowing huge chunks from the wound. It quickly sunk out of sight, unfortunately taking the unfortunate victim with it.
Roona managed to make the rescue after this point, although the skiff was also a complete loss. Pulling the crying woman to the ship, the rescue was complete.
Irdis checked the woman for injuries and it was found she had minor abrasions and cuts from the attack but nothing serious. He mended her up as she mourned the loss of her brother. Eventually as she recovers, she explains that her name is Gaea. She is the daughter of an influential family in the Tion Hegemony. She explains that she and her brother, Derc, were preparing for a local skiff-racing competition. The competition is not entirely legal, promoted by a Quarren crime boss named Toruck Chel.
It consists of a race through a series of rocky islands using skiffs with repulsorlifts modified to decrease their flight ceilings, making for difficult flight. The prize is 10,000 credits. She and her brother had hoped to win the prize of ten thousand credits. When asked why they were wanting to race, she answered that the two are bored of their ordinary lives and are seeking a little excitement.
At this point, if she is going to compete in the race, she needs help, and asks for it from the crew. What is more, because she cares little for money, she offers the full prize if they will assist her. After some debate, including discussing the need and timeframe to get back to Rodia, they decide to commit to the race, as it is only the next day.

Re: Turbulence (Episode 21)
Gaea leads the PCs to the islands where the competition is being held. One in particular boasts sandy beaches and private cabins, along with a restaurant and bar. This is where Toruck Chel has set up his base of operations, and where the competitors are being lodged.
The restaurant is run by a friendly and outgoing Nautolan named Nadira. It has a broad common room filled with tables and chairs for patrons, along with two smaller rooms for private seating. The kitchen and pantry are in the back, along with the rear exit. There are refreshers in the front corner.
Nadira welcomes the newcomers and enquires about the purpose of their visit as she takes orders for food and drinks. She can provide most of the popular potent potables from around the galaxy, but the cuisine runs heavily toward seafood. It is still delicious, though.
The group meets some of the other competitors. There is a very boastful Xexto who makes a bit of a nuisance of himself. A blond woman is seen sauntering up to the bar, but she seems to keep her distance from the rest of the competitors. Eventually a prim and proper man comes over and asks some questions of the Archelon's crewmembers. He asks some general questions about their proclivity in regards to the Empire and Ymira makes some bold statements. She later finds out that answering questions from strangers is never good when too much alcohol has been consumed.
Gaea will later point out that the individual was Lieutenant Druun Debah, an Imperial officer. As the comments pointed toward being opposed to the Empire and more Rebellion aligned, there could be serious repercussions from these hasty remarks.
Eventually Toruck Chel, surrounded by his Quarren bodyguards, greets them. As he has apparently heard of Gaea's accident, he expresses his relief that she is okay and then discusses any changes to her racing situation that are necessary. He also assigns the team to their own private cabin, one of the many located along the beach. Gaea is a bit stiff in her replies to Toruck, obviously some strain exists in their relationship.
Xander has been not feeling well, and Gaea orders him some soon and escorts him to the cabin and spends some time with him, helping him with the meal and getting him to rest. She gives him a kiss on the cheek before leaving.
Gaea then manages to procure a used skimmer but it has some engine damage. It is the only one available on such short notice. Zavi tries to do the repairs, but again it appears that the imbibing of excess amounts of alcohol at the party affected his skills and he was unable to manage the repair properly.
Ymira is racing with Gaea. The other competitors start with a local Mon Calamari named Mujnah. She is well regarded by others, a skilled pilot and
a fair competitor. The Xexto hotshot, Togala Genu, is one who is full of confidence and has the aptitude to back it up. While he can talk trash, he is not known to cheat. The third is the blonde Corellian. Golthani Ru is her name. There is also a Shistavanen named Sen Wral. His reputation is not good, as it's believed that he'll resort to any means necessary in order to win a race. Last is the Imperial officer.
As the race is about to begin, pilots and their crews board their waveskimmers and then head for the starting line. Toruck Chel is present, too, and looses a number of camera droids to monitor the race. They broadcast back to Nadira's Cantina, as well as “to those who are watching around the galaxy.” Once everyone is in position, Toruck produces an old-fashioned slugthrower pistol and uses it to accentuate the “On your marks, get set, go!"
Golthani is quickly off the starting line with Sen not far behind. Ymira, Togala and Druun battle for third place, while Mujnah gets a late start and is bringing up the rear. The race switches from pure speed to a handling challenge as the competitors round one of the islands on the course and change direction. Torgala makes a great inside move and catches up to Sen as the two leaders. Golthani dropped off into the third place struggle with Ymira and Dunn.
Here is where some shenanigans start to happen. Coming around the back of the next island, the camera droids have a hard time keeping track of the racers amid the crashing waves and spray. Duun opens fire with a blaster on Torgala, but his handling is thrown off in doing so and he hits the island and is airborne for a moment. Sen also tries to crash into Ymira's racer, as she makes a marvelous turn and briefly takes the lead. At this stage Sen is still right behind and Golthani and Torgala fight for third.
After the wide turn, the course leads through a third open stretch. Golthani and Sen catch up to Ymira and Gaea's lower powered racer on this section. As the racers all hit another sharp turn around a hilly island, Golthani races out to a commanding lead. Ymira struggles to keep up with the other racers, but is passed by Sen, Torgala and even Mujnah, who is making a late surge in the race. Druun has fallen far behind and is out of the race by now.
The final straight away remains and the Corellian pilot easily cruises to victory. Sen, Ymira and Togala are fighting for the remaining spots as Mujnah tries to finish making up ground at the end. Torgala and Ymira pull ahead of Sen and Torgala manages to cross the finish line a mere moment before Ymira, who comes in third.
Toruck Chel, Nadira and the assembled visitors are waiting to congratulate the winner, and to present her with the 10,000-credit purse. Golthani humbly accepts the prize. Gaea congratulates Ymira for a solid performance, given their disadvantage with the used and damaged skimmer.
Later, Xander and Gaea are seen spending some private time together before the Archelon prepares to depart for Rodia.
