Fer'Ir'distex Intro Scene

Post by GM Fang »

In a galaxy aflame, the Savareen Sector remains one last point of hope for those who seek treasure, discovery and adventure unhindered by conflict. The Savareen sector, the gateway to the Outer Rim, sits on the border of the Mid Rim and on the heart of the Corellian Run. Those that come in are taking their first steps into the true galactic outback, where the rule of law – and the hand of governments – is a little bit lighter, the technology is a little bit more suspect, and the danger is a little bit higher. The swamps and jungles of Rodia are no place for the timid. While the great cities of Rodia belong to the Rodians, the vast tropics of the planet remain wild and untamed.

One of those who found his way to Rodia was the Chiss doctor, Fer'ir'distex. Once he was being groomed for Imperial Service and dabbling in Astrogation as well the medical field. Yet as a prominent Chiss he railed against being forced in and managed to secure passage out at a heavy price. His benefactor was Ranem Tivv, known as "The Glove". Tivv was a Rodian who owned Tyrius Sysworks Syndicate. Tivv was always looking for potential employees and contractors. Having a Chiss on his "team" would prove useful in his dealing with Core World negotiations and be a little bit of a boost to the Rodian's reputation and prestige.

Irdis tried to keep his distance from becoming too entwined with Ranem's machinations. However, he did owe an immense favor. Without which, he would be assigned to some unknown ship in some unknown sector, with no means to control his own day to day activities much less his destiny. Rodia was remote and while technically sided with the Empire, there was very little Imperial control or influence here. It was a place where one could ply their own way, as they chose. And with the Rodians being as violent a culture as they were, there was plenty of work for a medical doctor to stay busy.

Irdis settled into a smaller city, named Karsteeku. Like most of the Rodia cities, it had its own protective bubble to protect it from the dangers of the Rodian jungles. Ranem Tivv would often have some tasks or missions for Irdis and his varying band of acquaintances. Irdis normally went along. The pay was fair and the favor loomed. Today was one of those days that Ranem would come calling.

Irdis holoreceiver lit up and the image of the Rodian syndicate leader appeared. "Irdis," Ranem began. "I have a job that I need your assistance with."

Irdis put down his equipment and moved over to get a more direct view of the holo-image. "One of our employees has gone missing, along with her team. One very important employee. Doctor Gena Tann is an anthropologist who's team has not been heard from in three days. Her research has been developing toward finding very valuable data from a location lost to the ages. The job requires finding the team, assist them in completing their task and bring as many of the team back alive."

Idris was intrigued. He was aware of a young Rodian woman by the name of Tora Ninn. He had been seated next to her at the banquet of some forgotten exhibition. By the end of the otherwise boring evening, he was convinced that Tora had potential in her field, but that she was being held back by forced apprenticeship, regardless of whether the learning was needed. As it turns out, Tora Ninn was the assistant to Dr. Gena Tann and therefore part of the lost team. This had a hint of personal stake now. Irdis responded that nearly all of his working contacts were offworld now on another mission, however.

Renem continued, "That is fine. I don't want local workers for this job. The data is too valuable and too risky to hire someone who might know it's true value and backstab us. But there's also no time to bring in a group from outside the system. They've already been out of contact for three days and this must be done as soon as possible. We'll need outsiders for this one."

"How do you propose we find them in such a short time?" the Chiss wondered. Rodia was packed with hunters of various skill and ability. And they each would likely undermine their own mothers for a sufficient number of credits.

"Not to worry. I have our security team searching through landing records of all ships that have landed on Rodia in the last seven days and are still on planet. We'll cull the list to a couple of potential groups for hire. You should be getting the information very shortly. In the meantime, gather your gear and be ready to head out."

Not too much later, a data transfer signaled on Irdis' datapad. It was the promised hiring options. Scanning the three groups that had any potential at all, Irdis decided on one that seemed to be the most likely to try first. It was a small group that had arrived three days ago. Yesterday it seemed that they held a funeral pyre for one of their number. The remaining team consisted of a Mirialan smuggler, a human computer tech, a Rodian scout and a Squib gunner. Tivv's people found they had recently come into possession of their ship, an older GHTroc 720 with the moniker Archelon. They were starting to make a name for themselves, based out of Tatooine. The Archelon would be docked conveniently in the Spaceport Zone of Karsteeku as well.

Dr. Tan was last known to be located in the jungles west of the city of Karsteeku. She and her team had reported a breakthrough in locating a historical data cache, but following that, the team failed to report in for three days.

Her area of interest was an area sized in the several hundreds of square kilometers, and since she’s operating under a low-impact protocol, our scout ships have been unable to locate her last campsite. Suggest that the search be made before nightfall, as waiting until morning decreases chances of survival dramatically.

Payment will be made for a successful recovery of the data cache and Dr. Tan’s work. Additional compensation may be afforded for the rescue of any members of Dr. Tan’s team.
