War for Gateway Session Recap #5

April 13th, 569 CR:

After watching Herit escape out onto the underground lake on her Hover Barge, Wyvern Squad decides to make their way back to Eagle's Nest to rest and heal. The return trip is uneventful and nothing of interest happened during their absence in the Nest.

April 14th, 569 CR:

Next morning, Wyvern Squad decides to deal with the hobgoblins and ogres at the bottom of the hill from Eagle's Nest. A plan of action is put into place. Saladino flies the obsidian steed captured from the enemy priest yesterday. Using it, he'll fly around and come up behind the enemy position. Daubeny carries the extra large shield which the ogre who was carrying archers was using. Several of the group moves with Daubeny behind the shield for protection. Flare fires arrows at the enemy once close enough around the large shield.

Anik and Kendell take a more direct approach. Both have Levitate cast on them and using it, simply fall down the side of the hill towards the enemy! Arrows are fired at them, doing only minor damage. Once on the ground, they directly attack. Kendell goes after an ogre, while Anik battles hobgoblins.

The rest of the group gets close enough to unleash spells. A Sleep spell puts two hobgoblins down, while a Hold Person freezes three of them. Kendell and the ogre he is fighting exchange many hits, while the other ogre moves up the hill side path to engage Daubeny. At this moment, Saladino sneaks in and back stabs the ogre! The ogre survives, but only for a moment as Daubeny puts him down.

In short order, the enemy unit is defeated. The last hobgoblin tried to run, but he did not get far.

Healing magic is used restoring most to full health, or close to it. The enemy army traveling down Graystone Pass is expected to pass the side road leading to Eagle's Nest later today. Wyvern Squad decides to rest up and regain spells. Once the army has passed the side road, they will be able to come in from the rear to harass the army from behind.

April 15th, 569 CR:

Next morning, as expected, the enemy army has passed the side road and is closing in on Fort Graystone. Attack is imminent.

Anik claimed the magical bracers worn by Anen. They have serpent designs on them.
