The Squads have encountered a supply caravan leaving the goblin lair! The wagons are being pulled by ogres in harness, with hobgoblins serving as guards and drivers. The Squads split up into three groups to deal with the caravan, hoping to deny the main enemy army food and supplies.
“More than enough for what we need!” Ren answers with a wicked grin.Butternut wrote:Butternut looks up at the mention of fuses for the vials they collected. "Ren told me that he found a fair bit of fuse cord when he was checking the bodies, so that should help." Turning, she waves the gnome over to join them. "Ren, can we see how much fuse you collected?"
Vernar devises a plan to surprise the first wagon with a trio of Alchemist's Fire bombs. They'll be planted in the road and once the wagon is close enough, the fuses will be lit and hopefully they will all go off at the same time. Two are set to intercept the ogres pulling the lead wagon while the other one targets the wagon itself. While Vernar, Butternut and Ren, work to prepare their trap, Kaylessa returns to the main group to let them know of the plan.
Gerett leads one group up the right hand side of the road keeping to the trees for safety. Erisciana and those with her cross the road and move up the left hand side. Along the way, Gerett chats with those he is leading into battle.
“I can only fight undead,” Wimzy tells Gerett, “But I'll keep my eyes open for any trouble while you boys are in the thick of things.”Gerett wrote:Wimzy had always been polite to Gerett and had assisted him with healing powers before. She was an oddity to him, almost childlike in enthusiasm but not at all averse to violence. He did not pretend to try to understand the application of her powers, but simply reviewed with her what he had discussed with Erisciana. "We must fully commit to the attack once begun," he stated, "but be ready to retreat at a moment's notice. Even disabling one wagon will suffice if we can get away unscathed. Position yourself where you can work best with me and the other three in our group, and keep your ears open for a call to charge or retreat."
“I have a few spells at the ready,” Sorvani reports. “I have a Color Spray and a Magic Missile in memory.”Gerett wrote:"I'm afraid I haven't gotten to know you very well thus far," Gerett began as he reintroduced himself to the mage. "I'm no expert or even a novice in your glamour-craft, but I'd at least like to know what you've got on hand for this next fight."
“I'll cast my Magic Missile first,” Sorvani relays. “From there I'll use my bow, saving Color Spray in case I run into a bunch of the enemy.”Gerett wrote:"You know best how to apply your spells. It's my understanding that Sleep is more effective on little guys and your missiles can hurt the ogres we expect to see. In any case, we're going to try to bring down any ogres we see one at a time, as fast as possible. Any goblins would be best kept out of the fight while we do that. Use your judgment and stick as close to us as you can while staying out of danger. The caravan might have scouts riding out around at a distance."
“In the heart o' the action is where you'll find me!” Sann says with a laugh. “I be not as good as the rest o' you in tussle, but I can hold me own in a scrap.”Gerett wrote:Lastly Gerett approached the historian. "I'm a bit ashamed to admit I know very little about ye, Sann. Aside from the fact that your knowledge o' the keep and its history has saved our collective necks a few times. Where do ye prefer to be in the fight? Vardra and I will be switching between range and melee as needed. Let me know where ye can fight best and we'll work on getting ye there."
