Validar continues to question the bandits. The lieutenants who are watching from a distance are on horseback. The bandits have a small encampment back in that area where their own mounts and other equipment is stashed. (None of the men had food on them, for instance.)
It is decided for a small group to ride out after the lieutenants. Sherra and Kylie lead the way and are quickly joined by Corley, Laucian, and Chareos. The small group gallops down the path in between the boulders that would have served as the ambush center.
Beyond that is a short trek through the denser forest. Piles of blown leaves cover the road and swarm around the trunks of these trees. Were the leaves still on the trees, this entire area would be covered in darkness. But they have fallen and the light of day can filter in.
Riding on, the group breaks out of the dense forest into a more open area. The path winds its way up ahead towards a hillier region. This region would make an ideal place to watch the ambush area from a safe distance.
Much to the adventurers' surprise, riders are coming towards them down the path! There are two riding horses approaching at a walking pace. The first one bears a man who superficially looks like Sherwood, but is much shorter in stature. The rider is holding the reigns of the second horse. Tossed over this horse are two unconscious men.
Drawing closer, the riders can see that it really is Sherwood except his features have taken on an elfin appearance. He even has large pointed elf-like ears.
"This is a surprise", Sherwood notes as the riders approach. "What brings you all this way?"
Sherwood will explain what has transpired. "When Laucian spotted the ambush, I simply moved off the road and tethered my horse in a safe spot. Then I Polymorphed Self to scout the situation out." Sherwood was the eagle that some of you spotted flying overhead.
"During my reconnaissance I spotted these two observing everything from those hills. I figured there were either the commanders or watchers for the bandits. They probably had orders to retreat and go to Twin Forks to warn Lothar should they not be strong enough to stop us. So, I stopped them first, but not before they could sound the retreat horn."
"Did I miss anything exciting?"
Joining with Sherwood, everyone rides back to the ambush site and to the rest of the group.

GM Notes:
GM Notes:
And that's where Sherwood was. The two lieutenants have also been captured and everything is secure here. As the bandits noted, they had a small camp near the spot Sherwood found the lieutenants. There is a small cave close by as well.
The lieutenants' gear is added to the pile. Lilia checks the weapons for magic items and finds that of all the gear only four daggers and one short sword register as positive.
Between all the men here are the coins acquired: 224 CP, 108 SP, & 321 GP.
The two lieutenants had several small gems between them; three pieces of jet, two bloodstones, and a small piece of jade.
Now what?

Lord Corley
Corley:
Lord Corley spurs Charger on as he attempts to keep pace with those on faster horses. As we race along, the terrain becomes more open as we pass the narrow ambush area. Up ahead, two horses with one rider can be seen. Corley stains to make out who it is. At least they do not appear threatening.
“Can anyone make out who that is? Friend or foe? Sherwood? That’s Sherwood? He seems to have shrunken.”
Lord Corley joins the others as they ride up to Lord Sherwood. “I say, well done! We were just riding out in hopes of capturing these men! Why are looking like an elf?”
Corley simply accepts Lord Sherwood’s explanation with a nod. While aware of the combat value magic has, Corley himself knows little about it.
“At any rate, we’ve capture most of the bandits back down the road. Shall we rejoin the others?”
Turning Charger back around, Corley joins the others in riding back to the rest of the group.
“Sherwood was kind enough to deal with the bandit lieutenants while we were engaged with the main body of the robbers. So my friends, it seems we have prevailed in our first test of valor! Now comes the question what do we do with these men? Perhaps these men Sherwood captured will be able to answer questions about Lothar’s whereabouts and what we might expect in Twin Forks. Then we can make our plans to capture Lothar.”

Lilia
Lilia:
Ignoring the goings on with the bandits, Lilia bends down to examine their gear for any enchantments. She finds five such sources, a short sword and four daggers. Separating those items from the rest of the pile, Lilia will attempt to identify the type of enchantment upon them. The Elf Maiden has always had a knack for figuring things like this out. A skill that she’s grown more proficient in as time has gone on.
To the others she will say, “I have discovered that these five items are enchanted. I am now attempting to ascertain the nature of the enchantment on them. Were I to venture a guess, and based on who possessed these items, they are probably just barely enchanted. I will attempt to learn more.”
The riders’ returning draws Lilia away from her task. She raises a curious eyebrow upon seeing Sherwood appearing as an elf. Elf-Friend indeed!
That certainly makes the situation easier. With the bandits caught, there will be no advanced warning for Lothar. We’ll be able to enter Twin Forks and capture him. This mission is nearly over.
Lilia leaves the planning to that for the others. Out of nowhere, the formula for a spell crystallizes in her mind. It a spell that she’s seen before, but was never able to comprehend. While the others talk, Lilia settles underneath a tree. She fumbles through her backpack and pulls out her spellbook. Unpacking an inkbottle and quill, the Elf Maid quickly jots down the formula for her new magic.

Ivy
Ivy:
Ivy is pleased when the others return uninjured. Even better Sherwood is with them and his absence is explained.
“At the very least, we can now decide the fate of these men without feeling rushed. I can pray for a Know Alignment in the morning and then use it to determine which of these men, if any, are worthy of being released. Find out which of the might repent instead of lumping them all together into one group. That will just leave the unpleasant task of what to do with the rest of them.”

For the glory of the Blue Lady!
Climbing Up the Food Chain
Kylie:
As the woods thicken, they are forced to slow their pace. Kylie can only hope that this won't enable their targets to get away. Fortunately, they are soon through it into a more open area, and Kylie spurs her mount to greater speed.
It soon proves that their speed and urgency were unnecessary. Encountering riders coming down the hill, Kylie notes that one appears to be an elf that bears a remarkable resemblance to Sherwood. Even the voice sounds right.
"Sherwood? Is that you?" she asks, incredulously.
Indeed it is Sherwood, and he quickly explains what happened. Kylie isn't surprised that he managed to capture the leaders while they were fighting the bandits. At least she can stop worrying about her "uncle Sherwood".
Corley tells Sherwood that they caught most of the bandits. However, mention of the brings a question to Kylie's mind. "Sherwood? Do you know how far away this Twin Forks is? Would they have been likely to hear the horn there from this distance?" Depending on the answer, it may tell them something about what Lothar and his men are likely to be expecting.
Turning their horses about, they are soon back with the rest of the group. Once again, Corley speaks up and outlines the situation for the rest of the group. The handsome warrior turns the leaders over to Validar for questioning.
"It might be good to know what Lothar is expecting in the way of communication from these fellow after the raid," she says. "This might suggest a way to avoid him being alerted to trouble, which could help in capturing him. I know if I were in his shoes, I would have arranged some kind of signal. At the very least, he may be expecting them to show up within a certain amount of time. If they don't appear, he'll know it didn't work out."
As usual, yet another thought occurs to Kylie. "Should we return and gather up the bandit's gear from their campsite?" she asks, to no one in particular. "Certainly, the food and horses are of value and should be considered. Also, there was a small cave, and they might have had other stuff stashed in there."
Kylie notes the pile of loot that has been gathered. A smile crosses her face. Looks like this is starting to pay off already, even if it's kind of meagre so far... she thinks. In particular, the gems catch her eye. Kylie considers using her trained ability to determine if any bear enchantments of their own. However, it occurs to her that they will likely go after Lothar immediately, and that she might need it later.
Noting what Lilia is up to, Kylie moves closer to the elven woman. "Enchanted weapons, eh? Perhaps I should memorize Identify in the morning; what do you think? Then again, we might want to wait until Lothar is captured and we have the time to perform a proper evaluation of everything."

Climbing Up the Food Chain
Grondar:
The dwarven priest smiles as the rest of the party returns. Even better, they have both Sherwood and the lieutenants with them, though credit for the capture apparently goes to the mage. He is glad that they are unharmed, though he was certainly prepared to treat any injuries as necessary.
Grondar approaches the two bandit leaders, checking for injuries and determining whether they need any aid, magical or otherwise. If their lives are not in danger, he will forgo use of magic and treat any injuries using the skill with which he was trained. If they are unharmed, he will be most pleased and thank Sherwood for his discretion.
The renewed discussion of what to do with the captives attracts Grondar's attention. "I'm still in favor of releasing them if we don't have the resources to see them returned to Pyris. One other option might be to bind them somewhere outside Twin Forks, then return for them once we've taken the town."
He turns to Ivy. "Not a bad idea, Ivy, but I'm not certain that it is a full answer, either. It has been my experience that very few men are entirely irredeemable, even if they are inclined toward evil at the current time."

everyone wrapped up..
Sherra:
Once Sherra is certain that it is indeed Sherwood with the two captured lieutenants in tow, she is very disappointed. This outcome is the one everyone wanted - the capture of the two lieutenants before they could pass on word of our arrival, but Sherra still was looking forward to the hunt.
Sherra will turn her mare around and return to the main body of the group. She is in anticipation of Validar beginning a new round of interrogations upon these two. Sherra will also take an interest in the gems and watch briefly as Lilia finishes up her examinations of the enchanted weapons, but her main focus will be watching the prisoners and seeing how they react to the capture of their leaders.

"We were after that pair of loose ends that you have so nicely gift wrapped for us," Sherra will reply, pointing at the two lieutenants, her smile slipping easily back into place. Disappointed or not, there will be ample more opportunities ahead and no one was seriously hurt, well except for the bandits, this time. Praise Tymora."This is a surprise", Sherwood notes as the riders approach. "What brings you all this way?"

Laucian
Laucian urges his mount into the denser wood. As we begin to climb an upgrade two riders come into few. The lead rider looks vaguely familiar. 'Is that Sherwood?" he thinks as he takes another look thinking his eyes are deceiving him. "Looks to be friendly," noting that it is Sherwood though not himself. "What has happened to Your Ears?
Laucian will accept Sherwood's explanation. "I am glad to see you well friend." He begins to chuckle at his question. "Come and see we have been busy."
Once back to camp he will help remove the Lieutenants from the horses. If Sherwood hasn't bound them yet he will. And bring them near the others. As he has already stated what he thinks of what should be done he will remain silent as for Lord Corley's question. "Let's wake them and see." Having never been good at interrogation he will leave it to the others, though he will listen intently to what is said.
Seeing how the battle is over, Laucian will take a seat among the trees and begin to pray to his deity. He will leave the others to the weapons and gold/treasure. When all is found out about them he will than look.

Chareos
Chareos will urge his mount to keep up with the others. Riding through denser terrain he begins to look around the side paths for activity, finding none. We reach higher ground and begin to climb When two riders begin to descend towards them. He begins to squint hoping that he may make out who they are but to no avail. " Who are they? Sherwood, it cant be he was behind us." as he comes closer. "What have they done to him?" he wonders out loud.
Chareos listens to his explanation. "Genius", he mumbles to himself. "The bandits have been nuetralized many were taken prisoner."
"I think they should be disarmed and bond to each other. I do agree with Grondor to a point about coming back for them. But leaving them near Twin Oaks while we try to take it would be a mistake. If a patrol found them they would be set free and we would most likely face them again. Speaking of which," turning to the bandit that spoke" When were you due to report back?"

Sherwood Speaks
Sherwood:
Sherwood quietly accepts the congratulations from the other party members. He was never big on such things and makes no comment on them other than, "Thanks, but it was really nothing. Just was attempting to discover the number of bandits involved in the ambush. You guys did most of the work. You should be proud."

Just was attempting to discover the number of bandits involved in the ambush. You guys did most of the work. You should be proud."
Sherwood notes the conspicuous absence of 'Uncle' before his name by the young half-elf. "Why Kylie, you sound as if you were concerned. As your skill with magic grows, you will find many spells that allow you to do things impossible to ordinary men. The Polymorph spell will permit you to change form as many times as you like while active. Allowing you to change into a bird to fly, a fish to swim, or even an ooze to go underneath locked doors. It would take your 'finding' skills to a whole new level. However, the spell will automatically end if you assume your true form, so I'm temporarily an elf. The spell will run a few more hours and should the need arise will be able to make use of it again.""Sherwood? Is that you?" she asks, incredulously.
"No, they would not have heard the horn. We are still over a days ride away from Twin Forks. Without this interruption, we would have arrived late tomorrow afternoon. For the moment, Lothar is unaware that we've spotted his bandit ambush. At least unaware by normal means."Corley tells Sherwood that they caught most of the bandits. However, mention of them brings a question to Kylie's mind. "Sherwood? Do you know how far away this Twin Forks is? Would they have been likely to hear the horn there from this distance?" Depending on the answer, it may tell them something about what Lothar and his men are likely to be expecting.
"I have every intent of learning all there is to know from these bandit leaders, Kylie. Once we've settled in for the evening, I will cast Charm Person on one of them and question him at length. Under the influence of the spell, he'll be happy to share any information with me. Even better, they will answer without deception and without resorting to threats and violence.""It might be good to know what Lothar is expecting in the way of communication from these fellow after the raid," she says. "This might suggest a way to avoid him being alerted to trouble, which could help in capturing him. I know if I were in his shoes, I would have arranged some kind of signal. "Actually, it would be my suggestion to gather up these men and all of us go to their camp. The prisoners can be held in the cave overnight while we rest. I will use magic to seal them in for the night. Once we have the bandit leaders information, then we can plan accordingly to ensnare Lothar. Is this agreeable to you all?"As usual, yet another thought occurs to Kylie. "Should we return and gather up the bandit's gear from their campsite?" she asks, to no one in particular. "Certainly, the food and horses are of value and should be considered. Also, there was a small cave, and they might have had other stuff stashed in there."

Lilia:
Lilia will continue to scribe her new spell while the other deal with the bandits. Then she'll return to trying to Identify the magic items until the group moves out again.
"I would wait to use magic to Identify these items until a later date Kylie Lanthorn, as it would require one spell per item. In the meantime, I may be able to ascertain the enchantment on these items without the use of spell. When I was young I discovered that I had a knack for figuring out what magic items could do. The chance of success is small, but I am getting better. I will attempt to do so while we are idle and perhaps save more work down the road."Noting what Lilia is up to, Kylie moves closer to the elven woman. "Enchanted weapons, eh? Perhaps I should memorize Identify in the morning; what do you think? Then again, we might want to wait until Lothar is captured and we have the time to perform a proper evaluation of everything."

Kylie:
Sherra's reply to Sherwood brings a giggle to Kylie's lips. She finds that she's starting to like this other woman; her irreverance is quite entertaining.
=====
"Concerned?" she replies to Sherwood, arching one eyebrow. "Pfah. Only insomuch as Jallarzi might hold me responsible if anything happens to you." She's not about to admit such weakness to him, especially in front of the others.
"Sounds like a very useful spell. Hopefully, I will gain the mastery of it someday. I can manage something similar now, but only in a much more limited form."
She smiles. "Ah, Charm Person. I'm familiar with that one; Jallarzi has described it to me. Unfortunately, I haven't yet learned its secrets, though I hope to with time. Getting them to talk is a very practical application of the spell. I shall have to remember it for the future."
Sherwood proposes that they spend the night in the bandits' camp. "Sounds good to me. By the way, how will you go about sealing the cave? Jallarzi once mentioned some Wall spells, but they are well outside my current learning."
=====
Kylie is truly impressed by Lilia's special ability. "That's an incredible ability, Lilia! Like many wizards, I can detect magic occasionally, but identifying it without a spell is well beyond me."

Glancing over at Chareos, Grondar scratches his neatly-trimmed beard. "Ah, good point, Chareos. We would certainly want to keep them far enough away that they aren't likely to be found. Probably want to hide them somewhere inconspicuous, as well."
=====
"That is good news indeed, Sherwood! If they have not heard the horn and have no way of knowing what occurred here, then it should be that much easier to take them unawares."
Overhearing Sherwood and Kylie discussing the interrogation, Grondar pipes up. "An excellent strategem. I have heard that some gods grant access to a miracle with similar properties, but it is not one that is available to me. I will have to find out if any of the other priests in our little alliance have it within their sphere."
Sherwood finishes outlining his plan for the captives. "Hmm... A good plan as far as it goes, but it doesn't address what to do with them come morning. Do we let them go, take them with us and hide them in the woods when we assault Twin Forks, try to send them back to Pyris or just slay them out of hand - something I am strongly opposed to doing."

Sherwood:
Sherwood will grin monetarily at that expected response. Kylie isn't the type to show such strong feelings and Sherwood isn't about to force them out of her. "Indeed, Kylie she might. Of course if I was to lose one of her promising apprentices she may not invite me to dinner any more, so we both have strong motivations to get through this unscathed."
While waiting for the Webs to fade, Sherwood will approach Validar. "A fine catch here this day. Now the problem is what to do with these men. Have you given any thoughts to this matter."
(Yes, it was discussed a little bit earlier, but Sherwood wasn't here at the time.)
Seeing Grondar eyeing the captured bandits, Sherwood will add, " They are merely unconscious, Grondar. Surprised them both with a Color Spray that knocked them out. From there it was simple matter to bind them and bring them back.
"Concerned?" Kylie replies to Sherwood, arching one eyebrow. "Pfah. Only insomuch as Jallarzi might hold me responsible if anything happens to you." She's not about to admit such weakness to him, especially in front of the others.

"Yes, Change Self and Alter Self spells. Useful in their own way, but as you noted much more limited in their scope. The one danger of such spells is that an enemy can Dispel them. Nasty if one happens to be a bird in flight.""Sounds like a very useful spell. Hopefully, I will gain the mastery of it someday. I can manage something similar now, but only in a much more limited form."
"When possible, I prefer to find non-violent solutions to problems. There are times when you have to stand and fight, but mindless combat should be avoided. Cynalon has lost too much to be reckless."She smiles. "Ah, Charm Person. I'm familiar with that one; Jallarzi has described it to me. Unfortunately, I haven't yet learned its secrets, though I hope to with time. Getting them to talk is a very practical application of the spell. I shall have to remember it for the future."

I have heard that some gods grant access to a miracle with similar properties, but it is not one that is available to me. I will have to find out if any of the other priests in our little alliance have it within their sphere."
"There are a whole slew of Wall spells out there, some more practical than others," Sherwood will explain. "In this particular instance, Wall of Stone will suffice. I'll just leave enough room for air to get in but no one to get out."Sherwood proposes that they spend the night in the bandits' camp. "Sounds good to me. By the way, how will you go about sealing the cave? Jallarzi once mentioned some Wall spells, but they are well outside my current learning."
While waiting for the Webs to fade, Sherwood will approach Validar. "A fine catch here this day. Now the problem is what to do with these men. Have you given any thoughts to this matter."

"No it doesn't address the fate of these men. That is something that we'll have to arrive at an agreement about. They will either have to go back to Pyris, be released, or permanently dealt with. I also agree that simply slaying them isn't much of an option. It makes us little better than they are."Sherwood finishes outlining his plan for the captives. "Hmm... Lilia:
"It was these talents that caused me to seek out instruction in the magical arts. My teachers thought I was a most promising student and I learned all that I could about magic and spellcasters that I could. Unfortunately, it appears that much of what I learned was not from an unbiased point of view. A point that I intend to rectify."
Lilia starts to turn back to her tasking of Identifying the items but pauses. Kylie Lanthorn has been most respectful towards Lilia and does seem trustworthy enough. "Perhaps later on this evening we might discuss magic further? Perhaps even swap spells? If you are willing, of course."
Lilia's first thought to simply write off her special talent as part of her elven heritage. After all, elves are more in tune with magic. Kylie's own detect magic ability must be part of her own elven heritage. But such words might be misconstrued. Instead a small smile comes to Lilia's face.Kylie is truly impressed by Lilia's special ability. "That's an incredible ability, Lilia! Like many wizards, I can detect magic occasionally, but identifying it without a spell is well beyond me."

Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!
Ivy:
Ivy:
"It has been my experience, friend Grondar, that there is no easy answers in situations like this. I do worry that someone who could be saved be punished as badly as those who revel in their acts."He turns to Ivy. "Not a bad idea, Ivy, but I'm not certain that it is a full answer, either. It has been my experience that very few men are entirely irredeemable, even if they are inclined toward evil at the current time."
For the glory of the Blue Lady!

Kylie:
"And we know how much you like Jallarzi's cooking!" Kylie replies with a laugh.
"Ahh... yes. I see what you mean. That would be most unfortunate." The spells mentioned weren't really what she was referring to, but she suspects that her magic hat may have similar limitations.
Kylie listens thoughtfully. "Wall of Stone, eh? That does sound effective for the purpose. Perhaps I will master it some day as well."
=====
Kylie nods as Lilia tells of some of her past. It sounds as if this woman is certainly well qualified for such a career - certainly moreso than Kylie herself. The elven woman's proposition brings an excited tone to Kylie's voice which she can't entirely suppress. "That would be wonderful, Lilia! I would enjoy that very much. Thank you!"

Grondar:
"I agree most heartily, good mage! Combat is sometimes necessary, as it was here today, but should be avoided if possible. Killing a sentient, non-magical being is almost never a good thing."
It gives him heart to know that the leaders are not seriously hurt. "Well done, friend Sherwood. And I'm glad we're of a mind regarding their fate and that of their fellows.
=====
Grondar nods, his expression serious. "I share your concerns, Lady Ivy. I would rather spare the worst fiend, than slay one who might be saved."

VALIDAR -
Validar is pleased when they return with the lieutenants, but he is not at all effusive with praise about the deed. Someone of Sherwood's capabilities SHOULD have taken two bandits with nary a thought. Any other result would be inconceivable.
While waiting for the Webs to fade, Sherwood will approach Validar. "A fine catch here this day. Now the problem is what to do with these men. Have you given any thoughts to this matter."
I think we should use a few of them to assist us in the hunt for Lothar. It would make our entrance and movement through the area perhaps less obvious. Those we cannot use or do not bother with charming should be stripped of most everything they have and turned loose. Unless you have the ability to held them or transport them back to Pyris for incarceration."
"Spending the night at the bandit's camp seems reasonable. Although I wonder about wall all of us in. The Seekers created a Wall of Stone as a precaution recently and ended up needing to remove it by hand. Do you have a means to rapidly eliminiate it as well should that be needed? I suppose it would also make it secure and preclude the need for guard duty again this nght."
Addressing, everyone, "Since Sherwood has Charm abilities and Ivy can do her Alignment Discernment, we should be able to question them thoroughly and also gain assistance in our endeavors. I think that it may be helpful to have a few of these bandits assisting us whether of their own free will or by magickal persuasion. In any event we may be welcomed into Twin Forks more easily in their company and not tip off any more surprises at least immediately. Someone knew we were coming, hopefully not who exactly WE are."
As the discussion about the merits of the bandits and the potential good in them is brought up, Validar will make his feelings known on the matter. "These men have taken up a scoundrels life. It may be a life they fell into originally, but it is a life they have chosen. As such, while there may be some redeamability in one or two of these thugs, they have spent likely months and years terrorizing and stealing from innocent people, and likely some not so innocent. There are some who have killed. They all attacked us and would have slain us given the opportunity. Had they succeeded, the process would only have been repeated again and again. If these men wanted to escape from this lifestyle, they are near the border of Pyris and the inner baronies. They could have slipped away and crossed into our territories. At worst taken up with a temple and worked their way into respectability. This is not the middle of Elcadan city where people are held in their poverty and lifestyle simply to survive. They had coins among them and horses. They could have sold their weapons and chosen a peaceful existence. Please do not shed unnecessary tears over the 'plight' of these 'poor souls'. Likely they all deserve death or the dungeon for their past transgressions."
"Perhaps one or two of them will choose to change their ways and take this opportunity that they do not deserve. Ivy will determine their merits in the morning." Validar walks over to the bandits and directs an icy glare at them all. "To those who do not convince her of their intentions, if any of this band see you again engaged in bandit activity, you will be slain on the spot with no quarter."
Grondar nods, his expression serious. "I share your concerns, Lady Ivy. I would rather spare the worst fiend, than slay one who might be saved."
Validar admires his allies' idealism and staunch beliefs, but having battled fiends and dragons and other evil spawns, he feels that sparing any evil creature results in the deaths of untold numbers. Validar walks past his idealistic dwarven friend and places his gauntleted hand on his head briefly, meeting his eyes, but not saying a word. He then continues on to his horse and mounts up, leading it back to the weapon pile.
"We should not tarry here any longer. Let's round up these scoundrels and their equipment and head for this cave Sherwood located past those boulders. We can then interrogate the lieutenants and get some rest. We have already lost some time on our journey, let us make the most of it."

Sherwood:
(The above comments did cause me to go back and see just what happened before. Its in Frontier #88 for the curious. It was Finrod who initiated the idea of using tools to break through the Wall of Stone Pad erected. I can see Stoney making that error, as he typically didn't have access to the rulebooks and Fin couldn't cast the spell himself. None of the other mages corrected him and it wasn't my job to do so. As a result, Fin manually made a hole in that particular Wall of Stone that could have been removed with a simple Dispel Magic.)
"Fine meals for me are far apart and few in-between," Sherwood notes. "So Jallarzi's efforts are most appreciated.""And we know how much you like Jallarzi's cooking!" Kylie replies with a laugh.
"You've got a long way to go until that day, Kylie. That's the upper limits of my own spellcasting abilities."Kylie listens thoughtfully. "Wall of Stone, eh? That does sound effective for the purpose. Perhaps I will master it some day as well."
"Sound strategy. Use those that Ivy determines to not be malevolent for that purpose. Actually, I think I may be able to have the rest of them walk to Pyris of their own accord. It's just a matter of how scared I can make them and it would solve the current dilemma. ""I think we should use a few of them to assist us in the hunt for Lothar. "Removing it by hand?", Sherwood will reply incredulously. "Why in Mystra's name would you want to do that? The wall is permanent in as much that it will remain until removed by hand or by magic. I can Dispel the wall and it will vanish without any work or fuss.""Spending the night at the bandit's camp seems reasonable. Although I wonder about wall all of us in. "Indeed. We should be ready for when the Webs go down. Those with bows have your weapons ready to cover these men. We'll be marching them down the path towards their former campground. Laucian, Kylie, and Sherra should scout out the campsite and caves for any potential trouble while the rest of us stand guard. Kylie:
Kylie returns from her discussion with Lilia in time to hear Validar's suggestions and Sherwood's replies. A possibility occurs to her, so she presents the idea to those gathered. "The idea to use a few of the bandits to help us infiltrate Twin Forks is a good one. For the rest, I like Sherwood's idea. However, if he can't make it work, perhaps the best thing would be to leave the rest walled up while we raid the town. As long as they have food, water and air, they should be fine until we get back.
"As for tonight, once we finish questioning the leaders, we can sleep in Sherwood's magic cabin." Kylie grins at her little joke. "I can tie the lieutenants up so they'll keep until morning." Looking over at Validar, she sticks out her hand. "By the way, can I have my rope back?"
She looks over at Sherwood. "Actually, some of the meals were cooked by me. I learned enough from Jallarzi to be able to imitate her style, though different from what I grew up with."
Kylie nods, a bit somber. "Yeah, I know it's likely to be a lo-o-ong time, but it gives me something to look forward to."
"Okay." Kylie look to Laucian and Sherra to see if they're ready to go. Once they are, she begins riding back toward the campsite at a modest pace. No real need to hurry now. Her first concern will be the cave and making sure there's no back way out or other means by which their prisoners might escape.

Grondar:
The preparations for interrogating the captives concern him far less than their eventual disposition. He is glad to hear that Validar is in favor of releasing them, though his arguments for disposing of them bring a deep frown to Grondar's face. "I don't agree with your assumptions but I understand your position. It's seems I just have a greater faith in the redeemability of my fellow person." When Validar puts his hand on Grondar's head like the dwarf was some kind of child, Grondar looks at him with one eyebrow raised, but likewise says nothing. Being a noble seems to have lead the warrior to a vast ego and the belief that only he really understands the world and its workings. Hopefully, time will allow him to grow and change those attitudes.
As instructed, Grondar gathers up his crossbow and prepares a bolt. He then mounts his pony and prepares to escort the prisoners to the cave.

"Perhaps we may even obtain a few retainers for our group on a permanent basis. I am sure we can pay much better than this Lothar for those that prove loyal." Validar will say this loud enough and near enough to the bandits to make them understand the opportunity this presents for them. "As far as getting the remainder to simply walk back to Pyris for thier punishment, I am all for that if you are able to accomplish it, Sherwood. I am not so idealistic to believe that we would not see some of these same fools back in their same lifestyle were we to simly let them go. I have no desire to bother with guarding and holding them, so anything that rids us of their presence is desirable to me."

"Then you are a much better mage than the one known as Padraig that accompanied the Seekers. Truth be told, I did not care much for his brand of magic, nor his attitude for that matter. We closed in a pit we were exploring after vanquishing a fiend of the lower planes, a Greater Baatezu, I think they called it. Regardless, none of the mages in the group were able to dispel the barrier we erected. Or they failed to offer the option."
Sherwood - "Indeed. We should be ready for when the Webs go down. Those with bows have your weapons ready to cover these men. We'll be marching them down the path towards their former campground. Sherwood's plan is sound and Validar will take up the point of the group behind the scouts. He is alert to further attacks, even though he feels it is very unlikely at this point to happen.
Kylie - "As for tonight, once we finish questioning the leaders, we can sleep in Sherwood's magic cabin." Kylie grins at her little joke. "I can tie the lieutenants up so they'll keep until morning." Looking over at Validar, she sticks out her hand. "By the way, can I have my rope back?"
"Certainly. We have not as yet used it."

Sherwood - "Indeed. We should be ready for when the Webs go down. Those with bows have your weapons ready to cover these men. We'll be marching them down the path towards their former campground. Laucian, Kylie, and Sherra should scout out the campsite and caves for any potential trouble while the rest of us stand guard. Once everything is secured, we'll place all of the bandits except for the leaders in the cave. Make sure they have enough food and water for the night, but no weapons or tools to dig with. Once they are secured, I'll begin to question the leaders at length. Let get ready to move out."
Conquer or Die!
Chareos
"We should relieve them of their armor and weapons, bind them and send them on their way."
When the subject of where to make camp arises Charoes wonders how safe this camp shall be. He cant help but speak up. Validar, " I cant help but wonder, How many of these bandits know about this camp and if any are due to arrive?"
Having no bow, Chareos will stand ready with his staff in hand and move towards the back of the prisoner convoy. If any stragglers arise he will tap them in the back to get them to pick up the pace. Once at the caves he will make ready provisions for the bandits for the night.
in reply to Kylie's remark of lodgings for the night. " It would beat sleeping in the cold of night that is for sure."

Laucian
Overhearing Sherwood asking Validar what should become of those captured. Laucian will speak up. "I would be in favor of disarming, removing everything of value and set them on their way. If their gods see them fit for redemption they will find their way, if not than they would have paid for their crimes."
Where to make camp for the night----
"That sounds good to me, Sherwood. Though I would like to search this cave first before you seal them in for the night unless you already have done so." Pushing his hair out of his face.
He will mount up. He will will Move towards the bandits camp and scout the perimeter of the camp. Once he feels it is secure he will dismount and enter the cave. He will look for any chests or tools that maybe within. As well as any other tunnels that may prove to be exit points. Once it searched he will leave the cave and proceed to bring some provisions for the bandits than the bandits themselves.
Noting the horses that recently were relieved of their owners he will walk amongst them. He will take note of which horses are the best for the party to keep.
When the interrogation begins he will stand by and listen to what the men have to say.
-Prayers for the night-
Quietly he begins to concentrate on the recent events that have unfolded. He gives thanks that no one among his party was injured or taken prisoner. The peace that follows after a battle is comforting to him. Suddenly a female voice is heard deep with in his consciousness. It is soothing and warm. "You have served me well Laucian but there is still much to be done. Therefore I am granting you more abilities than you currently possess. Use them wisely."
As he finishes his prayers, he rises up from the ground feeling refreshed.
