Sylvan Realm #13 (#57)

December 1st, CR 571 or Deepnight 23rd, 20,519 AP

The Sunflower has reached the Mother Tree! Even now it is slowly being lowered so that its gangplank can be extended to reach one of the griffon landing areas here at Golden Peak. The elves left behind to guard the Mother Tree were ready for your arrival. Griffon riders circle the Sunflower and the warrior Arlen Brightsword calls out.

“Now that is what I call an entrance!” Brightsword calls out with a laugh. “Welcome home!”
Laucian wrote:Waving back to his fellow rider, “And we were trying to be subtle!” he calls back with an infectious grin. “It is good to be home! I trust we did not miss much?”
“That's something you'll need to work on then,” Arlen calls back. “Its been quiet here, but we only reached the Mother Tree yesterday, so more could have happened.”

Elfin mages each powered by a Fly spell land on the deck of the Sunflower. There is more room now, since Valena dismissed the griffons except for Aura. They are Rhymer, Gweyr Autumnfire and Councilmen Stobon, Triestar Silvarost, and lastly but not least Kylie's mother Allurien Feador. Allurien is carrying the Priestess of Sehanine Moonbow Sheeryl Soulsearcher. Greetings are exchanged.
Laucian wrote:Elves begin to drop upon the deck from multiple spells. Laucian greets Rhymer and then to Gweyr. Having only met Gweyr the one time at the fort, Laucian smiles, “It is good to see you again.“ How did you know we were coming?”
Before Gweyr can answer, Allurien explains that the Sheeryl had foreseen your arrival this night and that healing magic would be needed. Lilia answers Sheeryl's question and then Lia steps up as well.
Lilia wrote:“She is correct on both counts,” Lilia states. “Something happened to Talen and he's been unconscious for hours now.”

“He's down below deck,” Lilia answers as she points to the door leading to the Captain's Cabin. “Go the left behind that door and you'll come to him. Andlin is on guard.”
Lia wrote:Moving forward, Lia looks to Sheeryl. “Come, I’ll show you to my brother. I tried what I could but nothing wakes him. He also has these marks above his head.” as she continues to walk to the cabin.
“I will follow you,” Sheeryl says as she and Lia go below deck.

“It's good to be seen,” Gweyr will finally say to Laucian as she looks around. Gweyr is small, even for an elf. Her robes have flame patterns on them leaving you no doubt that she's fond of fire. “Here I thought that this was going to be something nice to burn, but this flying ship is amazing!”
Kylie wrote:Just then, Kylie sees other elves approaching the ship, flying under their own power - but her attention is entirely captured by one. Her mother lands on the deck, carrying the seeress, Sheeryl Soulsearcher. "Mom!" she cries, and flies over to give her mother a hug. "It is so good to see you again!"
“Kylie!” Allurien responds with her own grin and hug. She easily lifts her daughter up into the air. “I am so happy that you made it back okay. I had been so worried. So what did you find? What happened with Chandra?”

Nearby, the stricken elf from the Crimson Crest beings to stir and come out of his stupor. Seeing this, Lilia goes to his side.
lilia wrote:“How do you feel?” Lilia gently asks. “Do you know what happened to you?”
“Horrible headache,” the elf says as he drinks heartily from the offered waterskin. Handfuls of trail mix soon follow. “There was this screeching noise from that outpost. I couldn't block it out, but no one else heard it. It overwhelmed me and... and that's all that I remember.”

Lia and Sheeryl reach the Captain's Captain. Andlin is on guard, but then backs away upon seeing the new arrival.
Lia wrote:Stopping before the cabin door and Andlin, “Please do all that you can. He was reckless and foolish but he is still my brother. I would hate to have to tell Nightmist….” She trails off not wishing to finish her statement.
“I will do what I can,” Sheeryl vows. “I have a Heal spell prepared. It will remove any injury or disease infecting your brother.”
Lia wrote:Lia will stay with Talen and watch and hopefully learn what Sheeryl does to “cure”him.
It takes about a minute for Sheeryl to cast her spell on Talen. Upon it's completion Talen does start to stir! He yawns and then sits up and innocently asks, “Is it time for breakfast?”

Now what?
Try it and find out!

Lilia:
Lia wrote: “Down in the ship is a room with a metal door that was locked.” she says looking at the thief then to Lilia. “The door is now open. There is a large desk, two chests and a vast amount of papers on the desk.”
“Peculiar,” Lilia states in a puzzled tone. “A treasury of some kind?”
Valena wrote:“It will good to be back home and away from these ancient ruins,” Valena notes. “I miss my companions.”
Lilia nods in agreement. It seems like ages since she's played with Lady!

Not long after we arrive back at the Mother Tree the comatose elf comes around! Lilia questions the man.
“Horrible headache,” the elf says as he drinks heartily from the offered waterskin. Handfuls of trail mix soon follow. “There was this screeching noise from that outpost. I couldn't block it out, but no one else heard it. It overwhelmed me and... and that's all that I remember.”
“That is strange,” Lilia notes. “Did you think this screeching was calling to you?”

Sheeryl goes done below decks to tend to Talen along with Lia. Kylie is reunited with her mother as the new arrivals mingle.

“It will make a full report to all,' Lilia announces, “once the Sunflower has docked. Chandra and many other elves perished in the conflict. Even worse we encountered the ancient evil Sheeryl prophesied and they will continue to be a danger. To the north, were the orcs live, there is the ruins of an Elder City. We rescued two others while there. The first is a human mage by the name of Argent. She is something of an expert on the Elders. The second is what they call a 'scro', an advanced type of orc. Myev is not evil or malevolent. She helped Argent survive up here and has been a great aid to us. Both are our guests and they will remain on the ship.”

“More importantly, we have many dead and wounded to tend to. Their bodies will need to be stored near the entry point to the Rainbow Bridge so that why the way to the Elfholds opens, they can be returned home. But for now, let us relax and enjoy being home once more.”
Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!

“That's something you'll need to work on then,” Arlen calls back. “Its been quiet here, but we only reached the Mother Tree yesterday, so more could have happened.”
Laucian chuckles to himself. “That is good to hear.”
“It is.” He says as he shakes his head, “And far faster than the barge that brought us to the Slyvian realm. .It can out pace the griffons. It makes me wonder just what can match it in speed. Whomever own this ship before the scro, “seeing the confusion upon her face, “An advanced orc, worked upon it Immensely. The wood working is amazing.”
Myev is not evil or malevolent. She helped Argent survive up here and has been a great aid to us. Both are our guests and they will remain on the ship.”
Laucian listens to Lilia speak to the others, ‘A magnificent floating prison, but a prison none the less.’he thinks to himself hearing where Argent and Myev are staying. He looks about the other elves trying to gauge their reaction of allowing the scro and human mages to remain among them.
When Lilia is alone, Laucian will ask her for a moment, “While I understand and respect your decision, do you feel it best to give two mages of non elvish decent to remain on a magical item that they indeed can control?” he says softly. “If they decide to take it....”he says leaving the rest to Lilia’s imagination.
As things settle down. Laucian makes his way to Aura, patting down and petting her. “You did well today, I cannot thank you enough. You deserve your rest this day and weight in food. Go get some rest and hunt. I will see you at the stables soon enough.” Giving the griffon a loving pet upon it’s neck.
“More importantly, we have many dead and wounded to tend to. Their bodies will need to be stored near the entry point to the Rainbow Bridge so that why the way to the Elfholds opens, they can be returned home. But for now, let us relax and enjoy being home once more.”
Laucian helps with the removal of bodies. Once complete Laucian silently prays to Elhonna of their passing and allowing them to rest.
As the night unfolds the Cooshee and Onyx coming running to him, knocking him over in a pile of fury and wet kisses. He gives each attention and pets each in turn. “I have misses you guys. Have you been good?”as he strokes the black cats back and tail. “
Til Ehlonna's will be done

“Peculiar,” Lilia states in a puzzled tone. “A treasury of some kind?”
“Perhaps. I could not tell if the items were trapped or not. The door is closed but not locked. Did Laucian know someone that could read different languages?
“I will do what I can,” Sheeryl vows. “I have a Heal spell prepared. It will remove any injury or disease infecting your brother.”
Lia nods upon hearing of the spell. “That spell is indeed foreign to me.”she says somewhat dejected but determined to serve her patron better.
It takes about a minute for Sheeryl to cast her spell on Talen. Upon it's completion Talen does start to stir! He yawns and then sits up and innocently asks, “Is it time for breakfast?”
Seeing her brother start to stir she smiles at Sheeryl. “Is it working?” she asks hopefully as she sees her brother act like he is waking up from a deep sleep. “Thank you!”she says as she sees her brother yawn then asks about breakfast.
A flood of emotions comes to her: relief, happiness with a hint of anger. Not saying a word she cross the the remainder of the distance between them and gives her brother a tight hug. “You had me worried! If anything happened to you…”the rest is lost as she buries her face in his shoulder. After a few moments. She pulls back, “You big jerk, you could of told me where you were going! Lilia and a few of the others said that you were being taught? Are you feeling different? Do you remember anything after the stone snake?” she asks.
After the barrage of questions, Lia will look for something to get her brother to eat. As she leaves she hugs Sheeryl. “Thank you. I will not forget what you have done this day. “

Before Kylie can say more, the incoherent elf from Crimson Crest stirs.
“Horrible headache,” the elf says as he drinks heartily from the offered waterskin. Handfuls of trail mix soon follow. “There was this screeching noise from that outpost. I couldn't block it out, but no one else heard it. It overwhelmed me and... and that's all that I remember.”

Talen feels like he is coming out of a deep sleep. He's not quite aware of his surroundings, but his belly tells him that he is hungry! He yawns and then sits up and innocently asks, “Is it time for breakfast?”

“Huh?” Talen says at first, but then it all starts to come back to him. “I was awake all night because of that noise. It was calling to me. So for my own sanity I went to find out what it was. I don't remember much after that.”

“I feel hungry,” Talen adds hopefully. “What stone snake?”
Lia wrote:After the barrage of questions, Lia will look for something to get her brother to eat. As she leaves she hugs Sheeryl. “Thank you. I will not forget what you have done this day. “
Lia moves off leaving Talen even more confused then before. Talen remembers Andlin from before, but the priestess who gave the dire warning was not. “Are we back at the Mother Tree?” Talen asks as he gets out of bed. “What's going on?”

Argent:

Time passes as the stew simmers and the break bakes for Argent in the galley. She's getting hungry from the smell alone! Myev seems to be hungry as well.

“Soon,” Argent will tell Myev. “It'll be ready soon.”

The meal if finally ready and Argent ladles out some stew into waiting bowls and slices the bread. The two share a quiet meal unsure just what is going on up on the main deck.
Kylie wrote:Eventually, Kylie learns that Argent has made some bread and stew for dinner, so she flies down to get some before returning to the crow's nest. "Thank you, Argent!" she calls during the fleeting moment when she spies the Invoker near the door hiding from the griffons.
At one point Kylie comes flying in and helps herself to the meal.

“What going on up there?” Argent asks. “How long will we need to keep below decks?”

As the night wears on, its clear that we have arrived where ever it is we were going to. Argent will cautiously make her way to the upper deck back the way she came. Upon reaching the door, she'll open in slightly to see what is going on.

Valena:

Seeing that there is no danger, Valena eases the tension on her bow and stores her arrow. She follows Lia and Sheeryl down below decks to see if the priestess can heal Talen. When they arrive at the Captain's Cabin, Valena is content to keep her distance and observe. Sheeryl casts a powerful Heal spell and Talen starts to come around. And as it typical he's hungry.

Valena leaves Lia to tend to her brother and makes her way back up on deck.

“Talen is awake,” Valena will happily announce. “And he's hungry, so that must be a good sign.”

“We are within the Scro ship at the Mother Tree. You been asleep for a few hours.” Not wanting to scare him, “We liberated it and the scro are no more.”Lia sees that her brother has little to no memory to what happened to him. “You really don’t remember?” she asks concerned. “When we found you a stone snake had you by the head, causing burns. You were beating it with your fists then it disappeared. I was unable to wake you, though I tried everything I could think of.”

“I feel hungry,” Talen adds hopefully. “What stone snake?”
“Yea, your feeling normal.” She says shaking her head trying not to smile. “I’ll can get you some food in a moment. Do you recall the ruins, the pillars?”
Then she leaves to get him some food.

Argent wrote:“What going on up there?” Argent asks. “How long will we need to keep below decks?”
"We're flying back to the Mother Tree, Argent," Kylie replies to her friend's first question. "Very fast, no less. I'm quite impressed by how fast this ship is."

Argent's second question elicits a chuckle and a mischievous grin. "Need to? That's entirely up to you. If you're asking how long until we reach our destination, then I would guess an hour or two. It's really hard to judge at this speed and distance..."

Valena wrote:“Talen is awake,” Valena will happily announce. “And he's hungry, so that must be a good sign.”
Valena is the first to emerge from the captain's cabin after Sheeryl enters. Her announcement is met with obvious joy. "That's wonderful! Thank you so much for letting us know, Valena!" Kylie gives her elven friend a hug. "Is it okay for us to go see him?"

Post Continued:

December 1st, CR 571 or Deepnight 23rd, 20,519 AP

Sheeryl Soulsearcher has worked her healing magic and Talen seems to be restored back to his normal self. As the Sunflower is being lowered so that it can dock with one of the landing areas at Golden Peak, more elves arrive on griffon back and by magical flight. The comatose elf seems to have recovered on his own as well. Lilia and then Kylie speak to him.
Lilia wrote:“That is strange,” Lilia notes. “Did you think this screeching was calling to you?”
“Not at all,” the elf flatly states. “It was a dreadful screech that I couldn't keep out.”
Kylie wrote:Kylie's listens in to the conversation. "I'm glad that you are returning to yourself. What is your name?"
“Ombryn Elarus,” the elf states. “It is good to be back at the Mother Tree and far away from that hellish stone.”

The others mingle with the new arrivals. Laucian speaks to Gweyr.
Laucian wrote:“It is.” he says as he shakes his head, “And far faster than the barge that brought us to the Sylvan realm. It can out pace the griffons. It makes me wonder just what can match it in speed. Whomever own this ship before the scro.“ seeing the confusion upon her face, “An advanced orc, worked upon it Immensely. The wood working is amazing.”
“It is an amazing piece of magecraft,” Gweyr will say as she looks around. “It could use some elfin touches to it, though.”

And down below decks...
Lia wrote:Lia nods upon hearing of the spell. “That spell is indeed foreign to me.”she says somewhat dejected but determined to serve her patron better.
“It is a very potent spell,” Sheeryl will softly say. “Very few priests grow powerful enough to be able to pray for it. You do your patron no disservice by not being powerful enough to access this spell. It will come in time.”

Back up on deck, Kylie is reunited with her mother while she continues to lower the Sunflower to the landing area below.
Kylie wrote:"I'm fine, mom. Really,"Kylie replies grinning, though her voice takes on an edge of sadness. "But many of the elves died, and something is wrong with Talen. I hope Sheeryl is able to help him..."
“This was all so pointless,” Allurien will say in regards to the dead elves. “Such a waste. I am sure that Sheeryl will be up to the task. Unlike most elves she is only a priestess, so she is very powerful.”
Kylie wrote:Kylie turns to her mother once more. "I'm looking forward to a good night's rest and catching up with what has happened here while we were gone. However, I don't want to leave until we find out if Talen is going to be alright."
“Take all the time you need,” Allurien will say. “While there is sadness for those lives that were lost, there is joy for your safe return. Sleep will not come easy this night.”

Lilia speaks to all the new arrivals.
Lilia wrote:“I will make a full report to all,' Lilia announces, “once the Sunflower has docked.
The elves exchanged worried glances when Lilia speaks of the ancient evil and the scro.

“You cannot desecrate the Mother Tree with the presence of non-elves,” Councilman Stobon objects. “There is a reason the Elfholds were closed off to all but the Children of the All-Father!”

“I think we need a more in depth explanation from the Queen before we leap to any conclusions,” Councilman Silvarost will add. “At the appropriate time of course.”
Lilia wrote:“More importantly, we have many dead and wounded to tend to. Their bodies will need to be stored near the entry point to the Rainbow Bridge so that why the way to the Elfholds opens, they can be returned home. But for now, let us relax and enjoy being home once more.”

By now the Sunflower has reached the landing area and hovers just beside it. The gangplank is pushed out and it touches the wooden deck. You can now just walk off the Sunflower and be at Golden Peak! Even more elves have gathered here, many stunned to see the large galleon hovering close to the Mother Tree.

The task of moving the bodies of the dead begins and they are carried off to a place near the arrival point for the Rainbow Bridge. While this is going on, Valena comes back up on deck and reports that Talen is awake! A collective sigh of relief is heard with that news.
Laucian wrote:As things settle down. Laucian makes his way to Aura, patting down and petting her. “You did well today, I cannot thank you enough. You deserve your rest this day and weight in food. Go get some rest and hunt. I will see you at the stables soon enough.” Giving the griffon a loving pet upon it’s neck.
Aura then flies off, leaving the deck of the Sunflower free from griffons. The door to the lower decks slowly opens and everyone can see Argent standing there with Myev peeking out behind her. Councilman Stobon goes for his staff, but does not move to attack. At least not yet.

“Hi,” Argent sheepishly waves. “We're really not that dangerous...”

Lilia:
Lia wrote:“Perhaps. I could not tell if the items were trapped or not. The door is closed but not locked. Did Laucian know someone that could read different languages?”
“A historian I believe,” Lilia answers. “Elora? We'll worry about that tomorrow.”
Ombryn wrote:“Not at all,” the elf flatly states. “It was a dreadful screech that I couldn't keep out.”
“That's a surprise,” Lilia notes. “Clearly whatever happened to you was not what happened to Talen. We are dealing with two different affects.”

Lilia sighs to herself as she saw this coming. “Do not forget who saved the Mother Tree included half-elves and even those with drow blood,” Lilia states coldly. “Not to mention the human who led us to the Sylvan Realm. All of whom are clearly unworthy in yours eyes, councilman.”

“But not unworthy in the eyes of the All-Father himself! He chose this group and those in it. Clearly, the All-Father is not as narrow minded as you are Councilman Stobon. I have come to believe that the All-Father considers those who are half-elves and those who have drow blood to be is children. While we elves have shunned to who are part elf or have gone on a different path, the All-Father has not. There is a lesson for we elves to be learned here. We have forgotten just who we are. That is the lesson we must take away from nearly loosing the Mother Tree. We have lost our way and it took something nearly tragic to wake us up and open our eyes.”

“Change is what is happening here in the Sylvan Realm. For far too long we elves have hid in our forests and let the world pass us by. We thought the we could simply out live the threat to the Mother Tree. We were wrong and foolish. We need to be vigilant against whatever foes we will face. Change is coming whether we want it or not. We have clung too long to the ways of old. Now we will forge our own destiny for the betterment of all elves. In time I can see a place for half-elves here in the Sylvan Realm. Perhaps one day they will take their place among the great clans as equals. One day they will have their own clan hold here in the Sylvan Realm.”

“As I stated previously the two are our guests,” Lilia continues, her sermon winding down. “For now they will remain on the Sunflower. I do see the wisdom of keeping outsiders away from the Mother Tree while there are so few of us to protect her. But this will not always be the case. In time there will be a place for outsiders within our lands so that we can trade and share knowledge with. Our days of hiding from the world is over.”

“Put your weapon away, Councilman,” Lilia states. “As I said earlier, they are under my protection. As my position dictates I deal with outsiders here in the Sylvan Realm. They both have information that will be valuable to us and for a time we will provide them with shelter.”

Turning to Argent and Myev, Lilia will say, “It's alright. Come on out.”
Laucian wrote:When Lilia is alone, Laucian will ask her for a moment, “While I understand and respect your decision, do you feel it best to give two mages of non elvish decent to remain on a magical item that they indeed can control?” he says softly. “If they decide to take it....”he says leaving the rest to Lilia’s imagination.
“It was my understanding that Kylie and perhaps the twins were going to stay on board with them,” Lilia notes. “Until the emergency with Talen came up, my plan was to move the Sunflower to the docks by the Elfin Palace where they wouldn't be notice as easily. Clearly plans changed.”

“Even if they did take it, would Argent be able to find her way back home? It seems to me that Myev really has no where to go since she's betrayed her own people. Their options are limited.”

More Lilia:

The Sunflower settles in close to the landing area and the gangplank is lowered. Seeing that virtually all the elves are now here, Lilia takes a deep breath and steps up on the railing using a guide rope for support. After getting everyone's attention, Lilia makes her report on what they found on the mission to locate Chandra.

She speaks about the arrival at Crimson Crest and finding that Ombryn had been left behind. The strange properties of the stone and the log entries that they found. Back when the elves were here in the Sylvan Realm the city to the north was mostly buried. Since they the orcs moved in and uncovered much of it, but much still seems to be buried.

Lilia relates the trip into the ruins, finding the elves guarding the rocs and fighting off the attacking orcs. Then it was on to the Tall Tower and finding the hive parasite among the dead while a Pillar Artifact was found at the towers peak. Far below what once had been an outdoor plaza had been unburied. More Hive were found and even more arrived via a larger version of the Pillar Artifact. The scro were discovered and Hive converted the scro leader and Chandra, learning all their secrets in the process. The Hive knows of the Mother Tree and the flying ship the scro used to reach here. The Hive seems to be led by a Hive Queen, who is also controlled by a parasite. The Hive Queen was a dead ringer for the mage known as Argent who is parasite free.

The Hive were buried when magic was used to force the ceiling to collapse, killing the Hive Queen, Chandra and all in the cave. On the way back up the tower another Argent and Myev was found. Argent told her story and Lilia suspects that the mage had been duplicated by a Pillar Artifact accident months ago. Myev came from another world where those elves had been wiped out. A flying ship flown by yet another group of elves landed among her world's elfin ruins. The scro killed them and stole their ship. Which in turn lead to them attacking a stronger target and getting the ship heavily damaged. The scro them stole the Sunflower and arrived on Arret.

Having stopped the Hive and rescuing all the elves that they could we withdrew. Valena was to lead the elves back to the Mother Tree while the rest of us went to capture the Sunflower to keep it out of both Hive and scro hands. That part was accomplished easy enough, but Talen went off on his own as something deeper in the ruins was calling to him. What we believed to an Elder Teacher had done something to Talen and he was unconscious when we found him. We figured out how to use the Sunflower and used it to fly back to the Mother Tree, stopping only pick up the rescued elves at Crimson Peak.

“That's pretty much everything,” Lilia concludes. “The Hive are still out there. The scro seem to have been dealt with and the orcs who live in the elder ruins seem to have been decimated between the elf attack and the Hive. But there are other dangers we must face. Moorkroft also used fire giants and humans in his armies and both of them are out there. Argent has knowledge of the Elders that can help us. Myev has knowledge of those lost elves from her world. I feel we must record that knowledge for posterity.”

“For now, our duty is clear. We protect the Mother Tree until the Rainbow Bridge opens and reinforcements arrive. We'll need griffon riders up in the air and ground patrols around the clock. When the bridge back to the Elfholds does open, those of you who wish to return may do so. Likewise our honored dead will be sent back as well. But until that times comes, all we can do is wait.”

“The council will meet tomorrow morning, as several members will have to be replaced and a new Head Councilman has to be selected. For now, I am weary and need to rest. Pleasant night to you all.”

After her speech, Lilia will go down below deck to check up on Talen. She'll also talk to Kylie.

“Does your Spell Engine have enough power to keep the Sunflower aloft overnight?” Lilia asks. “I think I'll just stay on board tonight and don't want it to drop out beneath my feet.”

Afterwards, Lilia ventures out into Golden Peak to grab the few items she left behind in her temporary quarters and to find Lady. They will then make use of one of the crew bunks below the Captain's Cabin for the evening.

There is some tension up on deck when Valena returns to announce that Talen is awake. Seems that she missed something. Valena is a bit surprised to be hugged by Kylie, but makes no mention of it.

“You're most welcome,” Valena will say. “I don't see why you couldn't go and visit Talen.”

After that Valena is content to listen to the conversation. The issue of Argent and Myev seems to have come up and the reaction of some elves is not a surprise. But Lilia seems to have an effective and logical counter argument. After that Lilia recounts our adventures to the north and return. Then she lays out her plans for the future. They are bold and again, there might be resistance to them.

“The Silver Maiden's will assist the ground patrols, Your Majesty,” Valena will state in regards to protecting the Mother Tree. “The ground will remain clear of threats.”

Valena will then say her good nights and venture off into the Golden Peak to find her animal companions and the other Silver Maidens to see what transpired back here while we were away.

Lia wrote:“We are within the Scro ship at the Mother Tree. You been asleep for a few hours.” Not wanting to scare him, “We liberated it and the scro are no more.”
“Oh,” Talen says. “That's good then.”
Lia wrote:Lia sees that her brother has little to no memory to what happened to him. “You really don’t remember?” she asks concerned. “When we found you a stone snake had you by the head, causing burns. You were beating it with your fists then it disappeared. I was unable to wake you, though I tried everything I could think of.”
Talen unconsciously feels his head for the burns Lia mentions. “Oh yeah, that. When I reached what was calling me I was standing before a column of some kind. It had more of those Elder runes on it. Something leaped out at me and that's the last thing I remember.”
Lia wrote:“Yea, your feeling normal.” She says shaking her head trying not to smile. “I’ll can get you some food in a moment. Do you recall the ruins, the pillars?”
“Of course I do,” Talen answers. “This pillars were at the top and then we found the Hive and rescued Myev and Argent. That was all yesterday?”

After Lia leaves, Talen will get up and stretch and then start to look around.

Kylie wrote:"We're flying back to the Mother Tree, Argent," Kylie replies to her friend's first question. "Very fast, no less. I'm quite impressed by how fast this ship is."
“Okay,” Argent mouths making it sound like she really doesn't know what that means. “That's good, I guess.”
Kylie wrote:Argent's second question elicits a chuckle and a mischievous grin. "Need to? That's entirely up to you. If you're asking how long until we reach our destination, then I would guess an hour or two. It's really hard to judge at this speed and distance..."
“Well I don't want to get eaten by those horrible birds!” Argent counters fiercely. “I'll wait until it is clear.”
Aura then flies off, leaving the deck of the Sunflower free from griffons. The door to the lower decks slowly opens and everyone can see Argent standing there with Myev peeking out behind her. Councilman Stobon goes for his staff, but does not move to attack. At least not yet.
Hours later, the deck seems to be clear of those horrible birds and so Argent, with Myev in tow, steps out and almost immediately finds an elf that seems ready to attack her!

“Hi,” Argent sheepishly waves. “We're really not that dangerous...”
Lilia wrote:“Put your weapon away, Councilman,” Lilia states.

“If you think it is okay,” Argent will answer. “Not trying to make things difficult for you. I'm just thankful for my freedom.”

Argent is not quite sure what is going on here and is content to listen as Lilia gives a grand speech about what happened. Thankfully with her earrings on, Argent can comprehend all that she hears. It seems that this Sylvan Realm is an elfin nation, much like the Elfholds are back home. Interesting.

Finally all the elves start to go back to their homes, Argent assumes. Feeling tired herself, Argent will head back to her adopted quarters and get ready for sleep. While she is doing that, she spots Lilia with an absolute gigantic and strangely colored dog!

“What in the world is that?” Argent wonders. “It's bigger than me! Is it dangerous?”

“It is an amazing piece of magecraft,” Gweyr will say as she looks around. “It could use some elfin touches to it, though.”
“In time that can be arranged. I would be curious to know more of how the sails and rigging work. Perhaps there are some here that know the workings of a ship.”
“You cannot desecrate the Mother Tree with the presence of non-elves,” Councilman Stobon objects. “There is a reason the Elfholds were closed off to all but the Children of the All-Father!”
Laucian listens to the Councilman’s words and walks forward as Lilia begins to explain further. He can’t help understand where the councilman is coming from. Elves have always kept to themselves. With only a few earning the title of elf friend aside from the dealings of the marketplace within the Elfholds.
“No disrespect my queen, but given how our council has acted recently I am ashamed of the actions some take. It makes me wish I should have reconsidered the seat of councilman for our clan. I’ll stay as well. The night air might do me some good.
“The Gryphons will see to the air. I will see to an aerial patrol is established shortly.” Laucian hears the words from the queen and shakes his head slightly. “I would be surprised if any would leave. In truth, this is as much home as the Elfholds were. There is much to do as the clans homes need to be reclaimed and I would like to see the twins and Kylie be able to call the Mother tree home, regardless of close mindedness of others.”
Laucian watches as Lilia calls Argent forward. “If you think it is okay,” Argent will answer. “Not trying to make things difficult for you. I'm just thankful for my freedom.”
“You are under the Queen’s protection,” he says evenly. “It seems difficulties are our specialty.” He says back in common as he looks to Lilia then to Argent.

As the night progresses, Laucian goes off to find onyx and the cooshee. Once reunited he will bring them to the ship, where he will set up a bedroll on the deck of the ship. With his companions around him, Laucian begins to draw up plans for the gryphons to patrol the area.

Argent wrote:“Well I don't want to get eaten by those horrible birds!” Argent counters fiercely. “I'll wait until it is clear.”
"Don't worry, Argent, I won't let the big bad birds eat you," Kylie replies with a laugh. "Besides, most of the are resting at the moment and way over there on the other end of the deck."
Ombryn wrote:“Ombryn Elarus,” the elf states. “It is good to be back at the Mother Tree and far away from that hellish stone.”
"Good to meet you, Ombryn," Kylie says. "Yes, it is good to be back."
Lilia wrote:“That's a surprise,” Lilia notes. “Clearly whatever happened to you was not what happened to Talen. We are dealing with two different affects.”
Kylie turns to the queen. "This bears more investigation - when we have the time and have assured the safety of the Mother Tree and all those here."
Allurien wrote:“This was all so pointless,” Allurien will say in regards to the dead elves. “Such a waste. I am sure that Sheeryl will be up to the task. Unlike most elves she is only a priestess, so she is very powerful.”
"Yeah..." Kylie says, nodding grimly. "I don't know how many went, and I don't know if we were successful in finding all of the bodies, but only a handful have returned alive with us. Andlin is the only one that I've had the chance to speak with, and he seems to be a decent guy."
Allurien wrote:“Take all the time you need,” Allurien will say. “While there is sadness for those lives that were lost, there is joy for your safe return. Sleep will not come easy this night.”
"Thank you, mom," Kylie replies. While not sleepy, there is a weariness in her eyes and in her posture. This has been a grueling, draining few days.
Stobon wrote:“You cannot desecrate the Mother Tree with the presence of non-elves,” Councilman Stobon objects. “There is a reason the Elfholds were closed off to all but the Children of the All-Father!”
Kylie can hardly believe her ears as the councilman spouts this racist trash and she instinctively moves closer to her friend. Nevertheless, she resists the urge to respond angrily, trusting the queen to address the matter appropriately. Lilia quickly steps in and does just that.

Instead, Kylie turns and notes that the ship is nearly level with the landing platform. Focusing, she slows the ship's descent, then stops it as they draw level. Ropes are tossed across and the ship is pulled in close, followed by moving the gangplank into place. This allows other to come aboard or depart as they see fit. More importantly, they begin the grim task of moving the bodies of the dead to their final resting place.
Valena wrote:There is some tension up on deck when Valena returns to announce that Talen is awake. Seems that she missed something. Valena is a bit surprised to be hugged by Kylie, but makes no mention of it.

"I didn't want to get in the way while Sheeryl and Lia take care of him. I will go now," she confirms, though sounding just a bit hesitant.

Kylie makes her way to the captain's cabin, trying not to get in the way of others as they go about their business. Entering, she sees Talen seated on the edge of the bed, while Lia goes to collect some food for her brother. A wave of relief washes over her.

"Talen?" Kylie asks softly as she moves closer to the side of the bed. "How are you feeling? It is so good to see you awake..." Just then, Talen rises to his feet. "Talen! Careful! Are you sure you should be up so soon?!" she asks, moving close to support him in case he stumbles.

A little later, Lilia comes down to check on them.
Lilia wrote:“Does your Spell Engine have enough power to keep the Sunflower aloft overnight?” Lilia asks. “I think I'll just stay on board tonight and don't want it to drop out beneath my feet.”
"I believe so, and I will be putting my few remaining spells into it, so that should ensure that we don't run low.

"By the way, I need to spend some time with my mother this evening," Kylie says. "I'll return once we've had a chance to talk a bit." She also want to change into the enchanted dress that she keeps in the chest, and get Dapple. She hasn't seen her cooshie friend in several days now.

A thought occurs to Kylie. "Uhm... How far away from the ship can I be and have it still hover? Is there a limit of some kind?"

Lilia:

Kylie and I speak to Ombryn and discover what he endured was not similar to Talen's ordeal.
Kylie wrote:Kylie turns to the queen. "This bears more investigation - when we have the time and have assured the safety of the Mother Tree and all those here."
“Agreed,” Lilia will say. “Oh, Lia said that she dispelled the Wizard Lock on that metal door down below. There was a room with chests and more doors in it. When you have time tomorrow why don't you check it out using those skills that Rat taught you.”

Argent turns up on deck and causes some tension with one of the Councilmen.
Argent wrote:“If you think it is okay,” Argent will answer. “Not trying to make things difficult for you. I'm just thankful for my freedom.”
“You and Myev are not our prisoners,” Lilia stresses in the common tongue. “However, there are those elves who do not accept outsiders within our borders. For example there is only one place in the Elfholds where outsiders are welcomed, the town of Alfheim. And we are hovering near the top of the Mother Tree itself. For we elves this is a holy place as the Mother Tree is the living symbol of our gods to us. Because of this, I would like you two to remain on the Sunflower for now.”
Laucian wrote:“No disrespect my queen, but given how our council has acted recently I am ashamed of the actions some take. It makes me wish I should have reconsidered the seat of councilman for our clan. I’ll stay as well. The night air might do me some good.”
“There are those to set in their ways to see that things are changing,” Lilia will easily say. “Alas, another worthy member of our clan has taken the seat at the council. Triestar Silvarost is from Clan Grunalf and he was far more measured and thoughtful in his words.”

“I'll stay on the ship as well,” Lilia adds. “I just need to grab the few things I left behind and find Lady, assuming that she does not find me first.”

Lilia reports on what happened while we were away and the need for vigilance.
Laucian wrote:“The Gryphons will see to the air.
Valena wrote:“The Silver Maiden's will assist the ground patrols, Your Majesty,” Valena will state in regards to protecting the Mother Tree. “The ground will remain clear of threats.”
“Thank you both for your assistance,” Lilia will state. “Hopefully it won't be to long before the Rainbow Bridge opens up.”

After picking up her things and having played with Lady for a bit, Lilia returns to the ship and speaks to Kylie.
Kylie wrote:"I believe so, and I will be putting my few remaining spells into it, so that should ensure that we don't run low.”
“I'll add more to the one I am bonded with as well,” Lilia says. “Just in case.”
Kylie wrote:"By the way, I need to spend some time with my mother this evening," Kylie says. "I'll return once we've had a chance to talk a bit." She also want to change into the enchanted dress that she keeps in the chest, and get Dapple. She hasn't seen her cooshee friend in several days now.
“That's perfectly understandable. Go, enjoy yourself.”
Kylie wrote:A thought occurs to Kylie. "Uhm... How far away from the ship can I be and have it still hover? Is there a limit of some kind?"
“Let's not put that to the test, shall we?” Lilia suggests in realization. “Let us power both of our engines. Then you can start to shut down the lift function and I will start to power mine up. That way I can take over and we won't be surprised if there is a control range. Tomorrow morning when we have the light, we can see if there is a place in the river down below where we can land the Sunflower and not have to worry about controlling it.”

Afterwards, Lilia picks out a quarters to bunk in for the night. Lady gets noticed by the other guests.
Argent wrote:“What in the world is that?” Argent wonders. “It's bigger than me! Is it dangerous?”
“This is a cooshee,” Lilia explains, “an elfin dog. It is only dangerous to an enemy. A cooshee only attacks when we elves are threatened. I doubt Lady here will find you to be a threat.”

Once in her quarters, Lilia will close the door so that she can remove her clothes and wash up. Once changed into her sleeping garments, Lilia will play with Lady for a time before going to sleep.
Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!

Post Continued:

December 1st, CR 571 or Deepnight 23rd, 20,519 AP

Tensions run a bit high as Councilman Stobon of Clan Erendyl declares that only full elves should ever be allowed in the Sylvan Realm in regards to Lilia mentioning Argent and Myev. Queen Lilia quickly puts him in his place noting that non-full elves were among the group chosen by Corellon himself to save the Mother Tree. Anger flashes on the face of the councilman in regards to the lecture, but he keeps quiet. Later on when Argent and Myev do appear, he draws his staff but once again backs off when Lilia points out that the pair are under her protection. Stobon then flies off after this and disappears into Golden Peak.

“Sad, but not a surprise,” Allurien Feador notes. “After all, he voted for himself when it came to the election for king or queen of the Sylvan Realm. 'Royal clan', indeed!”

Down below decks, Sheeryl Soulsearcher has worked her skills and Talen wakes up after having a Heal spell cast upon him. The young half-elf does not seem any worse for wear. Satisfied that he is well, Sheeryl departs the Captain's Cabin along with Andlin. Lia arrives not long after with some of the stew and bread that Argent made earlier. More visitors arrive not long after.

Back up on deck, the Sunflower has docked next to a griffon landing area at the top of the Mother Tree. The gangplank is extended and the ship tied off. The dead elves are moved from the ship to a place near where the Rainbow Bridge opens up, so that they can be taken back to the Elfholds. Most of the elves at Golden Peak are taking in the sight of the Sunflower. Lilia uses this gathering to make her report on what happened on the adventure to the north. She speaks of Chandra's fate, the lost city of the Elders, the Hive, the Scro, and the acquisition of the Sunflower. Most of the elves here seem to be in agreement with Lilia's immediate plans.

After the speech, more elves come forth to greet the riders of the Sunflower. Laucian can introduce Arlen Brightsword and his brother Onas. The fire mage Gweyr Autumnfire is present and after a time the lovely Lorelei Spellsong appears along with the historian that Laucian spoke of before: Elora Calauth. Both Lorelei and Elora are interested in hearing your tales of saving the Mother Tree. Lorelei so that she can put these epic deeds into great songs and opera's while Elora wants to record those events for history.

“For the most part, things have been quiet back here,” Allurien reports. “There were a few tense moments when those who cast the Sacred Guardian spells knew that you were in danger, but that you survived it. It was nerve wracking.”

“Lilia, you spoke of a place much like Alfheim where outsiders can enter the Sylvan Realm,” Allurien continues. “It seems to me that if we are to have such a place, and I do support the idea, then it needs to be by the Elfin Palace, much like Alfheim that you are attempting to model. The Royal Palace of the Elfholds is above the same city. Since you are dealing with outsiders anyway, it makes sense for them to be allowed to visit your Palace. Perhaps this place can also be used for the half-elves and those others of elfin blood that you spoke of. I would imagine that the normal Clan Council's meeting area is there as well, as it should be on neutral ground.”

Andlin comes forth and speaks to Lilia. “Your Majesty, it is clear to me that with the enemies that we now face that you need operatives to go forth and do the work that needs to be done. There are many adventurous elves here that would be happy to help. I myself would volunteer for such a thing. A-- A Queen's Guard. It is the only way to deal with such numerous threats. And you should not be putting yourself into such dangerous situations any more. ”

“I like the sound of that,” Arlen Brightsword declares. “Count my sword among those willing to be part of the Queen's Guard. Just give me a target and let me go to work.”

“If I can burn our enemies, then count me in as well,” Gweyr excitedly declares.

All present do agree with the current course of action. Protect the Mother Tree until reinforcements arrive.

Laucian brings up the subject of any elves knowing how to sail.
Laucian wrote:“In time that can be arranged. I would be curious to know more of how the sails and rigging work. Perhaps there are some here that know the workings of a ship.”
“I've sailed a ship before,” Allurien calls out. “I traveled and adventured for almost twenty years before I met Kylie's father. I've done a lot of things and picked up many skills. Sailing among them.”

Kylie talks to her mother.
Kylie wrote:"Yeah..." Kylie says, nodding grimly. "I don't know how many went, and I don't know if we were successful in finding all of the bodies, but only a handful have returned alive with us. Andlin is the only one that I've had the chance to speak with, and he seems to be a decent guy."
“We may have to go back and look for more bodies,” Allurien notes. “And if it is as you said, that this Hive might return, we will have to be there to turn them back once more.”

“Andlin Alastra?” Allurien repeats. “I know him well. He was part of my group that went over the Rainbow Bridge. He is a very skilled warrior. I am glad that you saved him and the others.”
Kylie wrote:"Thank you, mom," Kylie replies. While not sleepy, there is a weariness in her eyes and in her posture. This has been a grueling, draining few days.
“I will mingle for a time before returning home,” Allurien states. “I will see you later.”

As things wind down for the evening, many visit Talen after his recovery. Lilia and Laucian decide to spend the night on the Sunflower. Rather than risk a catastrophe Lilia takes full control of the Sunflower from Kylie. Lilia selects one of the officer quarters in the same area where Argent and Myev are staying. Lady is with her and the cooshee gives the two guest a curious smell and then leaves them alone.

Up on deck Laucian is content to sleep out under the stars with his animal companions. While preparing, the other members of the Golden Griffons approach him. Valis and Niles report that they scouted out the two closest griffon stables from the Mother Tree. Both were in a similar condition as the stable found earlier. There were some griffons there. Right now there are more griffons than elves to ride them.

Andlin also decides to spend the night on the Sunflower as a precaution. He sees Laucian laying out his bedroll.

“You might want to be undercover when the rains comes tonight,” Andlin notes. “Unless you like to sleep and bath at the same time! It'll find a comfortable chair inside.”

GM Notes:

Lots to discuss, I imagine, so I'm not advancing to the morning just yet. As Andlin noted, it pours every night in the Sylvan Realm, so sleeping out in the open will guarantee waking up wet. Everyone's animal companions have found them.

Now what?

Seeing Arlen and Onas, Laucian goes forward and greets them. He introduces them to Lilia and the others gathered. After a time Lorelei and Elora join them. Laucian will take part in the telling of their stories. After some time he will approach Elora, “When we reached Crimson Crest, we found several journals of past patrols. They are onboard and given your talents there maybe more for you to catalog for history.”
“I agree with Allurien.” Laucian agrees steadily, “We will have to make sure the palace is cleansed for your office and visitors. Besides imagine the wonder of our visitors when they lay their yes upon the Mother tree and the natural beauty of the palace.”

“It sounds as though your adventuring days are coming to a pause, my queen.”he says evenly though with a hint of mirth. “Though you would be in unrivaled company.” He says looking to the others who volunteered.
“I've sailed a ship before,” Allurien calls out. “I traveled and adventured for almost twenty years before I met Kylie's father. I've done a lot of things and picked up many skills. Sailing among them.”
“That is amazing? Would you be able to show me what you know?” he asks curiously.
“You might want to be undercover when the rains comes tonight,” Andlin notes. “Unless you like to sleep and bath at the same time! It'll find a comfortable chair inside.”
“Atleast I wouldn’t smell!” he jokes begins to as he takes the elf warrior’s advice. As he gathers his things, he looks to the warrior. “If you are to be of the Queen’s guard, I must ask a favor. See that no harm comes to see her.”Knowing he is more than up to the challenge. For the first time, Laucian sees Lilia for all that she has become and yet more. No longer is she his kin and clanswoman but a symbol for their people.
Laucian will go below deck his companions with him.

Kylie wrote:"Talen?" Kylie asks softly as she moves closer to the side of the bed.
“Oh hey, Kylie,” Talen says upon seeing his visitor. “How goes it?”
Kylie wrote:"How are you feeling? It is so good to see you awake..." Just then, Talen rises to his feet. "Talen! Careful! Are you sure you should be up so soon?!" she asks, moving close to support him in case he stumbles.
“I feel fine,” Talen adds as he stands up and stretches. “Really, I'm fine, just a bit hungry is all. Why is everyone acting like I'm suddenly fragile?”

When Lia returns with the food, Talen thanks her and digs in.

“Did I miss anything?” Talen asks between bites. “What are we doing next?”

Kylie wrote:"Don't worry, Argent, I won't let the big bad birds eat you," Kylie replies with a laugh. "Besides, most of the are resting at the moment and way over there on the other end of the deck."
“I've seen them lunge at Myev before, so I will give those evil feather bearin' critters a wide, wide berth!” Argent announces.

Lots going up on deck as Lilia tells everyone what happened. Seems that she is the Queen of the elfin king-- Queendom! There's lots of people that Argent doesn't know and issues that don't seem to concern her.
Laucian wrote:“You are under the Queen’s protection,” he says evenly. “It seems difficulties are our specialty.” He says back in common as he looks to Lilia then to Argent.
“At least some things in the world are consistent: difficulties!”
Lilia wrote:“You and Myev are not our prisoners,” Lilia stresses in the common tongue.
“I understand,” Argent easily answers. “I'm just a guest here, so I will follow your rules. Oh, I got my gear back, including my translating earrings, so I can understand what everyone says. So you don't have to speak to me in the Common tongue. I still can only speak Common or Alphatian, so that's how I will answer.”

After a time of seeing the elves talk and debate, Argent gets tired and goes down below to prepare for bed. Later she sees Lilia with a ginormous dog!
Lilia wrote:“This is a cooshee,” Lilia explains, “an elfin dog. It is only dangerous to an enemy. A cooshee only attacks when we elves are threatened. I doubt Lady here will find you to be a threat.”
Sure enough the 'cooshee' gives me a smell and trots away. It's paws are bigger than my feet!

“What a weird place,” Argent says to herself. “Giant birds and giant dogs and more elves that I ever seen in my life, oh my!”
I am an Invoker of no small power.

“I'm pretty sure that Sheeryl is finished her work,” Valena states. “She cast a powerful Healing spell and it did the trick. I would say that Talen is back to normal. Well, normal for him.”
Lilia wrote:“Thank you both for your assistance,” Lilia will state. “Hopefully it won't be to long before the Rainbow Bridge opens up.”
“That will be a good day,” Valena agrees.

After saying her good nights, Valena goes forth to find her animal companions and spends some times playing with them/paying attention to them back at her quarters. Eventually she tires and turns in for the night.

Lia
Walking down to the galley, Lia is met with the smell that is warm and inviting. She walks over to the pot and gives it a sniff and helps herself to some stew and bread. Once finished she gets another bowl of stew and tears of a chunk of bread.
She carefully brings it back to Talen and she finds him up and around with Kylie close at hand. She smiles slightly to herself. Then says, “You still hungry?' She says moving across the room and placing the bowl and bread upon a desk.
When Lia returns with the food, Talen thanks her and digs in.
“Did I miss anything?” Talen asks between bites. “What are we doing next?”
“Aside from the battle with the scro and Kylie recovering the ship and recovering our kin. You did not miss much at all.” She says shaking her head slightly. She cant believe he did what he did but says nothing more of it.
Looking to Kylie she wonders what transpired upstairs, “What did the other elves make of Myev and Argent?”
“What do you think of working on our home here?” Looking to Talen then to Kylie. “If Lilia allows our “clan”could we not have a say on the council?” After a few moments, Lia recalls the metal door, “Well there is that metal door room that we can explore. It had a few chests and two doors within it. Perhaps we could learn more of this ship and the belongings.”
When the topic of the Queen’s guard reaches her ears, Lia can’t help agree with the notion. Perhaps with renewing the Darksong Knights Lia could help with seeing to the Queens safety as it was hinted the Palace was their headquarters.

Kylie:
Argent wrote:“I've seen them lunge at Myev before, so I will give those evil feather bearin' critters a wide, wide berth!” Argent announces.
"Okay, Argent, whatever works for you," Kylie replies with a chuckle before returning to the crow's nest for the remainder of the flight.
___
Lilia wrote:“Agreed,” Lilia will say. “Oh, Lia said that she dispelled the Wizard Lock on that metal door down below. There was a room with chests and more doors in it. When you have time tomorrow why don't you check it out using those skills that Rat taught you.”
"She what?" Kylie asks, her voice tinged with exasperation. "Did she have anyone else backing her up when she did so?" Kylie shakes her head. "She's almost as impulsive as her brother. Sounds like she got lucky and there wasn't anything immediately dangerous inside..."
Allurien wrote:“Andlin Alastra?” Allurien repeats. “I know him well. He was part of my group that went over the Rainbow Bridge. He is a very skilled warrior. I am glad that you saved him and the others.”
"Oh, I didn't know that," Kylie admits sheepishly. "Perhaps you can introduce me to others of your group later on..."
Laucian wrote:Seeing Arlen and Onas, Laucian goes forward and greets them.
Kylie will greet Laucian's friends when they are introduced. "I am happy to share what I know and answer any questions you may have, but not tonight. Would you like me to seek you out tomorrow?"

Talk swirls about amongst a number of those on-board regarding the creation of a Queen's Guard. While several of her friends volunteer for this new responsibility, Kylie does not. From her earlier discussions with the queen, Kylie sees her future role as being a bit different: more advisor than bodyguard, really.
Allurien wrote:“Sad, but not a surprise,” Allurien Feador notes. “After all, he voted for himself when it came to the election for king or queen of the Sylvan Realm. 'Royal clan', indeed!”
"Yeesh," Kylie says with a grimace. "His ego is as inflated as Chandra's was."
Allurien wrote:“For the most part, things have been quiet back here,” Allurien reports.

"I have been talking with Lilia, and she is willing to let us set up a half-elven clanhome in one of the non-forested regions of the Sylvan Realm. Lilia suggested that it might serve well as an entry point for non-elves coming to the Realm. There is an area not too far southeast of the Royal Palace that seems like a good candidate. It will be a lot of work to organize this new clanhome - including coming up with a good clan name - but I think the effort is worth it and will benefit many people."
Laucian wrote:“I agree with Allurien.” Laucian agrees steadily, “We will have to make sure the palace is cleansed for your office and visitors. Besides imagine the wonder of our visitors when they lay their yes upon the Mother tree and the natural beauty of the palace.”
"Lilia had suggested to me earlier that cleaning out the palace might be a good next mission for us, and I too am in agreement."
Laucian wrote:“That is amazing? Would you be able to show me what you know?” he asks curiously.
Allurien admits to knowing how to run a ship. "I would like to learn as well, mom," she replies, glancing at Laucian.
Valena wrote:“I'm pretty sure that Sheeryl has finished her work,” Valena states. “She cast a powerful Healing spell and it did the trick. I would say that Talen is back to normal. Well, normal for him.”
Kylie giggles. "I suppose that is as good as we could have hoped for..."
Allurien wrote:“I will mingle for a time before returning home,” Allurien states. “I will see you later.”
Lilia wrote:“That's perfectly understandable. Go, enjoy yourself.”
"Thank you both."
Lilia wrote:“Let's not put that to the test, shall we?” Lilia suggests in realization.
Kylie nods. "Sounds like a good plan, Lilia." On her way to check in on Talen, Kylie goes below-deck and adds her remaining spells - other than Passwall - to her bonded Engine.
___
Talen wrote:“Oh hey, Kylie,” Talen says upon seeing his visitor. “How goes it?”
"Better now," Kylie states cryptically.
Talen wrote:“I feel fine,” Talen adds as he stands up and stretches. “Really, I'm fine, just a bit hungry is all. Why is everyone acting like I'm suddenly fragile?”
Kylie nearly chokes. "You have been unconscious for hours, Talen. It required the talents of the most powerful healer in the entire Sylvan Realm to bring you back. So yes, people are going to be concerned. And you better take it easy and rest up before you do any more ridiculous things!"

Lia returns with food and a snarky reply for her brother.
Lia wrote:Looking to Kylie she wonders what transpired upstairs, “What did the other elves make of Myev and Argent?”
"Let's just say that the reaction was mixed," Kylie replies with a grimace. "One councilman nearly attacked them and had some harsh words, but Lilia had some strong words of her own and he backed off. For now."
Lia wrote:“What do you think of working on our home here?” Looking to Talen then to Kylie. “If Lilia allows our “clan”could we not have a say on the council?” After a few moments, Lia recalls the metal door, “Well there is that metal door room that we can explore. It had a few chests and two doors within it. Perhaps we could learn more of this ship and the belongings.”
"I believe that is Lilia's intent, from what she's told me. However, that is likely to be a long time off. The security of the Realm will need to be ensured first. Then we need to assemble and organize our new clan - which is likely to take years on its own. Only then will we be in a position to request representation on the council."

Kylie pauses a moment to collect her thoughts. "As for the mystery room, we should definitely investigate it further - as a group - but let's leave that for tomorrow. It is late and I for one am very tired."
___

Returning to the deck in search of her mother, Kylie finds Dapple waiting for her at Allurien's side. "Dapple!" she exclaims. "It is sooo good to see you!" The young half-elf is nearly bowled over by the huge bundle of fur and muscle. Laughing, Kylie scratches his sides as she does her best to avoid having her face anointed by the cooshee's tongue.

"Mom, I'm ready to head home now." Fortunately, Allurien is ready as well, and they are soon back in their new home. Kylie spends the next few hours giving her mother a detailed account of everything that happened over the past few days from her perspective, including her feelings about the various events.

"Oh, and mom, one good thing came of all this - I figured out how to cast Passwall! That means I'm capable of learning a whole new echelon of spells! If I can find a way to learn Teleport, I can take Argent home, so she can make peace with all she's endured during her captivity. While there, I could access the Salavarian spell library, and fill up my spell-book a bit more."

It is the wee hours of the morning by the time Kylie and Dapple find their way back to the ship. Kylie slumps into the first convenient, unoccupied bed she finds and is asleep within moments. Dapple worms his way under her arm and lies down beside her, content to be together once again.

Allurien wrote:“Sad, but not a surprise,” Allurien Feador notes. “After all, he voted for himself when it came to the election for king or queen of the Sylvan Realm. 'Royal clan', indeed!”
Kylie wrote:Yeesh," Kylie says with a grimace. "His ego is as inflated as Chandra's was."
“The king of the Elfholds came from Stobon's clan,” Lilia explains. “Clan Erendyl. That's why they consider themselves the 'royal clan' whether they deserve that title or not.”

“A pleasure to meet you all,” Lilia will graciously state. “I am sure as the days go past there will be time to meet and tell our tale. I never imagined being part of an opera or a historical event! Elora I have heard of your ability to decipher texts in other languages. We found many papers here on the Sunflower that need to be transcribed, while Myev has important information that will need to be recorded.”
Allurien wrote:“Lilia, you spoke of a place much like Alfheim where outsiders can enter the Sylvan Realm,” Allurien continues. “It seems to me that if we are to have such a place, and I do support the idea, then it needs to be by the Elfin Palace, much like Alfheim that you are attempting to model. “I believe what Allurien is suggesting is that home for the half-elves be constructed on the ground underneath the Royal Palace, just like it is in Alfheim,” Lilia states. “That is an intriguing notion. Until we can remove the thorny growth from the island, no one is going to be able to live on the ground or up in the sky palace.”
Andlin wrote:Andlin comes forth and speaks to Lilia. “Your Majesty, it is clear to me that with the enemies that we now face that you need operatives to go forth and do the work that needs to be done. I still can only speak Common or Alphatian, so that's how I will answer.”
“Very good than,” Lilia notes. “I can speak either language, so it matters not to me?”
Kylie wrote:"She what?" Kylie asks, her voice tinged with exasperation. "Did she have anyone else backing her up when she did so?" Kylie shakes her head. "She's almost as impulsive as her brother. Sounds like she got lucky and there wasn't anything immediately dangerous inside..."
“I heard about it after the fact,” Lilia reports. “So I would have to say no. At one point I found it hard to believe that they were related. I no longer have those doubts.”

After all the excitement and meeting and greeting is over with, Lilia finds Lady and settles into her quarters for the night. There are so many things that need to be done its hard to figure out where to start. Protecting the Mother Tree takes precedence, so all other things are secondary. But the day will come when we will be able to focus on other things. When that time comes a plan of action will be needed. Lilia thinks about things for a time but eventually falls asleep.

December 1st, CR 571 or Deepnight 23rd, 20,519 AP

As the evening starts to wind down, many of the elves move back to their quarters while others hold smaller conversations. The notion of having the half-elven settlement on the ground below the royal palace comes up.
Laucian wrote:“I agree with Allurien.” Laucian agrees steadily, “We will have to make sure the palace is cleansed for your office and visitors. Besides imagine the wonder of our visitors when they lay their yes upon the Mother tree and the natural beauty of the palace.”
“Why thank you, Laucian,” Allurien says graciously.
Kylie wrote:"I have been talking with Lilia, and she is willing to let us set up a half-elven clanhome in one of the non-forested regions of the Sylvan Realm. Lilia suggested that it might serve well as an entry point for non-elves coming to the Realm. There is an area not too far southeast of the Royal Palace that seems like a good candidate. Lilia wrote:“I believe what Allurien is suggesting is that home for the half-elves be constructed on the ground underneath the Royal Palace, just like it is in Alfheim,” Lilia states. “That is an intriguing notion. Until we can remove the thorny growth from the island, no one is going to be able to live on the ground or up in the sky palace.”
“Yes, exactly,” Allurien states nodding towards Lilia. “It would be easier to place it on the island the palace sits on. Assuming that it is even possible, since I have only heard stories about the palace and have not been there myself. But the one big advantage to having there would be security. The palace will be well guarded. What is this 'thorny growth' that you speak of?”

Allurien mentions that Andlin was parts of the adventuring group that she led to the Sylvan Realm.
Kylie wrote:"Oh, I didn't know that," Kylie admits sheepishly. "Perhaps you can introduce me to others of your group later on..."
“I don't know them all that well,” Allurien admits. “Our group was the first and we were simply the best elves on hand at the time. Among us was Andlin, Sheeryl, Councilman Olantius, Rhymer, Jetter & Kaffa, Lorac, and Jamar. Many I knew by reputation, but I hadn't adventured with any of them before.”
Lilia wrote:“Queen's Guard?” Lilia repeats. “What you propose does make sense, Andlin. There are too many dangers for myself to face alone and we have many elfin adventures here that it would be silly not to make use of them.”
“That is why so many of us went with Chandra,” Andlin adds. “We came here to save the Mother Tree and when we did arrive the deed had already been done. Many of us just wanted to help and still do.”
Lilia wrote:“Well, that seems to settle it then,” Lilia states. “Very well then. Since this is your idea Andlin, then you can get it organized. Find out who is interested. Having a pool of talented elves at my disposal will solve some of our immediate problems.”
“As you wish, Your Majesty,” Andlin says with a bow. From there he speaks those who offered their services and starts to put a list of operatives together.

Kylie wrote:Kylie will greet Laucian's friends when they are introduced. "I am happy to share what I know and answer any questions you may have, but not tonight. Would you like me to seek you out tomorrow?"
“That would be fine,” Elora states. “It seems that I will be rather busy with translations and recording history for many days to come.”

Lorelei will politely say, “thank you.”
Laucian wrote:“That is amazing? Would you be able to show me what you know?” he asks curiously.
Kylie wrote:Allurien admits to knowing how to run a ship. "I would like to learn as well, mom," she replies, glancing at Laucian.
“I can show you the basics,” Allurien states. “I spent a year sailing around the Southern Sea when I was younger. I picked up many skills from that time.”
Laucian wrote:“At least I wouldn’t smell!” he jokes begins to as he takes the elf warrior’s advice. As he gathers his things, he looks to the warrior. “If you are to be of the Queen’s guard, I must ask a favor. See that no harm comes to see her.”
“That, as always, is my intent, my friend. Whether she likes it or not,” Andlin adds with a laugh.

Later on in the evening, Kylie meets up with her mom for some private time. By now Golden Peak is mostly clear of elves and quiet.
Kylie wrote:"Mom, I'm ready to head home now." Fortunately, Allurien is ready as well, and they are soon back in their new home. Kylie spends the next few hours giving her mother a detailed account of everything that happened over the past few days from her perspective, including her feelings about the various events.
“While I may not have done the same things that your friend Lilia did,” Allurien states, “I cannot find fault with her results. There are some troubling things that you uncovered. This 'Hive' is obviously one of them. If what you suspect is true, then they must be fought at some point.”

“Discovering this Elder City is a major find. I've heard of them, but never encountered their artifacts before. What was it trying to do to Talen? Was Sheeryl able to stop it? He will need to be watched to find out.”

“The knowledge of these 'scro' is very troubling. More advanced orcs is not something anyone needs. The fact that they wiped out another race of elves just verifies that. The Sunflower seems like a magnificent vessel. I do have to wonder if those who actually own it will come looking for it?”
Kylie wrote:"Oh, and mom, one good thing came of all this - I figured out how to cast Passwall! That means I'm capable of learning a whole new echelon of spells! If I can find a way to learn Teleport, I can take Argent home, so she can make peace with all she's endured during her captivity. While there, I could access the Salvadorian spell library, and fill up my spell-book a bit more."
“That's wonderful, Kylie!” Allurien says. “That means you are skilled at magic as I am. I know Passwall as well, among many other spells of that tier. I do know the Teleport spell. In fact, I could take you and Argent to where you need to go. I'd like to meet the people who helped you along when I was away. I'll give us a chance to spend some time together. What do you say?”

GM Notes:

As noted above, Allurien's idea was to put the half-elf clan hold on the island the Royal Palace sits. Granted it's not known what is there right now as the thorny growth covers the island. The order hall for the Darksong Nights is believed to be under that same island. If Lilia is right, then a Pillar Artifact there as well. Given all of that, placing it here makes a great deal of sense.

The notion for the Queen's Guard is to assemble a team of elves to go forth and to the things that need to be done. Not necessarily to be the Queen's body guards. Adventurers going out and solving problems, essentially.

Now what?
Try it and find out!

Kylie:
“That would be fine,” Elora states. “It seems that I will be rather busy with translations and recording history for many days to come.”

Lorelei will politely say, “thank you.”
"Okay, I'll plan on that - once I've gotten some rest..."
Lilia wrote:“The king of the Elfholds came from Stobon's clan,” Lilia explains. “Clan Erendyl. That's why they consider themselves the 'royal clan' whether they deserve that title or not.”
Kylie nods, listening. "Hmm... So really one - or perhaps a few - members of the clan are royalty. Of course, since you're the queen of the Sylvan Realm, that makes your clan just as royal as theirs."
Allurien wrote:“Yes, exactly,” Allurien states nodding towards Lilia. “It would be easier to place it on the island the palace sits on. Assuming that it is even possible, since I have only heard stories about the palace and have not been there myself. But the one big advantage to having there would be security. The palace will be well guarded. What is this 'thorny growth' that you speak of?”
Kylie frowns, realizing that she misunderstood. "Ahh, okay. I thought it had been mentioned previously that the half-elven clanhome would have to be in one of the non-forested areas, but I may be mistaken.

"So there's a half-elven clanhome below the Royal Palace in Alfheim?" Kylie asks. "I don't recall it being mentioned that the residents on the ground level were half-elven when we were there."

Kylie turns to her mother. "When we visited the Royal Palace recently, there were huge, thorny vines growing in a massive thicket all around and under the palace. I think it was Laucian that suggested that it might be the result of a clerical spell, though whether that is true or not I don't know."
Allurien wrote:“I don't know them all that well,” Allurien admits.
"That's quite a group," Kylie replies, thinking over what she has heard of some of them. "I met a few of them briefly before, and others I have heard mentioned, but a couple of the names don't sound familiar."
Lilia wrote:“I heard about it after the fact,” Lilia reports. “So I would have to say no. At one point I found it hard to believe that they were related. I no longer have those doubts.”
Kylie just snorts, shaking her head, but doesn't say anything else. 'What are we going to do with those two,' she thinks to herself.
Allurien wrote:“I can show you the basics,” Allurien states. “I spent a year sailing around the Southern Sea when I was younger. I picked up many skills from that time.”
Kylie smiles happily. This will be a great chance to spend more time with her mother and learn a useful skill.

Allurien wrote:“While I may not have done the same things that your friend Lilia did,” Allurien states, “I cannot find fault with her results. There are some troubling things that you uncovered. This 'Hive' is obviously one of them. If what you suspect is true, then they must be fought at some point.”
"Indeed," Kylie says, nodding. "We are not quite sure where they live, but we will probably have to use the pillar artifacts to reach them. The only one we have seen them come through is currently buried under tons of rock and dirt, but I doubt that will stop them."
Allurien wrote:“Discovering this Elder City is a major find. I've heard of them, but never encountered their artifacts before. What was it trying to do to Talen? Was Sheeryl able to stop it? He will need to be watched to find out.”
Kylie thinks for a moment. "From what Argent said, apparently their was Elder writing that said something about the young learning. I suppose it is possible that it was trying to inject knowledge into his brain.

"I don't know about 'stopping it', but Sheeryl was able to return him to consciousness. He seemed to feel fine and was surprised that everyone seemed so worried about him." Kylie shrugs. "That's Talen for you..."
Allurien wrote:“The knowledge of these 'scro' is very troubling. More advanced orcs is not something anyone needs. The fact that they wiped out another race of elves just verifies that. The Sunflower seems like a magnificent vessel. I do have to wonder if those who actually own it will come looking for it?”
"From Myev's story, I got the impression that the scro came from another world, or perhaps another continent. I don't know that we're likely to meet any more of them, as I believe that Myev is the only survivor of the group that came here.

"I don't know about the owners of the Sunflower," Kylie says. "I'm not sure who owned it previously, or how likely they are to come here. I suppose it is possible that they have some means of tracking it, but I just don't know."
Allurien wrote:“That's wonderful, Kylie!” Allurien says.
"Really? Wow!" Kylie replies enthusiastically, amazed that she has already caught up with her mother as a spell-caster. "That sounds like a great idea. I'll mention it to Argent and see what she thinks of the idea. I would love to introduce you to Jallarzi and Uncle Sherwood."

Talen:
Kylie wrote:"Better now," Kylie states cryptically.
“That's good then,” Talen easily answers.
Kylie wrote:Kylie nearly chokes. "You have been unconscious for hours, Talen. It required the talents of the most powerful healer in the entire Sylvan Realm to bring you back. So yes, people are going to be concerned. And you better take it easy and rest up before you do any more ridiculous things!"
“Oh,” is all Talen can think of to say at first. “I didn't realize that. Sorry? I thought it was because I was awake all last night with this thing in my head calling me. It was like having a fly buzz around your head all the time. Maybe I was just tired?”
Lia wrote:She carefully brings it back to Talen and she finds him up and around with Kylie close at hand. She smiles slightly to herself. Then says, “You still hungry?' She says moving across the room and placing the bowl and bread upon a desk.
“Well, yeah,” Talen says incredulously. “Since I haven't eaten anything that just stands to reason.”
Lia wrote:“Aside from the battle with the scro and Kylie recovering the ship and recovering our kin. You did not miss much at all.” She says shaking her head slightly. She cant believe he did what he did but says nothing more of it.
“That's good then.” Talen looks at Lia and then back to Kylie. “Sorry if I made you both worry. I was exhausted and made a bad decision to get rid of that noise in my head before I went crazy.”
Lia wrote:“What do you think of working on our home here?” Looking to Talen then to Kylie. “If Lilia allows our “clan”could we not have a say on the council?”
Kylie wrote:"I believe that is Lilia's intent, from what she's told me. However, that is likely to be a long time off. The security of the Realm will need to be ensured first. Then we need to assemble and organize our new clan - which is likely to take years on its own. Only then will we be in a position to request representation on the council.”
“If its a long time to an elf, then that just means not in our lifetime,” Talen adds in an annoyed tone. “We may never see the end result if we start this.”
Lia wrote:“After a few moments, Lia recalls the metal door, “Well there is that metal door room that we can explore. It had a few chests and two doors within it. Perhaps we could learn more of this ship and the belongings.”
“Did you go looking for traps again?” Talen accuses Lia. “You know that you're terrible at that!”
Kylie wrote:Kylie pauses a moment to collect her thoughts. "As for the mystery room, we should definitely investigate it further - as a group - but let's leave that for tomorrow. It is late and I for one am very tired."
“Okay,” Talen easily answers between bits. “You're the boss. Besides I need more of this stew! Now this is something I can sink my teeth into!”

“Well, yeah,” Talen says incredulously. “Since I haven't eaten anything that just stands to reason.”
“I was just hinting at the fact you always seem to hungry. It would not be the first time you thought with your stomach.” she adds playfully as a smile etches across her ebony skin.
“That's good then.” Talen looks at Lia and then back to Kylie. “Sorry if I made you both worry. I was exhausted and made a bad decision to get rid of that noise in my head before I went crazy.”
“Worry isn’t the word, Talen , I truly feared for you. But, I am glad you are better.”
“If its a long time to an elf, then that just means not in our lifetime,” Talen adds in an annoyed tone. “We may never see the end result if we start this.”
“Can you think of a better legacy?” she asks her brother and Kylie. “To know you built something for your people would speak volumes of yourself and for your kin. You would be remembered like Nightmist to the countless people she has helped find a home.” She rationalizes.
“Did you go looking for traps again?” Talen accuses Lia. “You know that you're terrible at that!”
“Sometimes they find me." she counters with a wolfish grin. Apparently foolishness and stubbornness run in our family.” She says back her eyes narrowing. “It seemed safe enough. With all the weapons about the door I figured the Scro triggered any trap upon the door.”
Kylie pauses a moment to collect her thoughts. "As for the mystery room, we should definitely investigate it further - as a group - but let's leave that for tomorrow. It is late and I for one am very tired."
“Okay,” Talen easily answers between bits. “You're the boss. Besides I need more of this stew! Now this is something I can sink my teeth into!”
Lia makes a sound like a whip cracking at Talen when he mentions she is the boss. “I don’t know how you can sleep with all this excitement going on about you! A new ship that flies, untold items and information rooms away. Not to mention cleaning of the Palace and rebuilding a place we can call home!”she says looking back at the others.
Lia leaves after saying good night and finds Lilia.

“I have heard that there is word of starting a queen’s guard? I would like to offer you my sword. If you will have it. Once the Palace is freed I would like to see about these Darksong Knights that are spoken of in such high regard."

"When the rainbow bridge opens, How long will it remain open? I would be interested in seeing the Elfholds. Though, I dare say I would not go alone. They may think the Slyvian realm is over run with drow and attack on sight."
The last thing you shall hear is the bladesong of my sword.

“I've seen them lunge at Myev before, so I will give those evil feather bearin' critters a wide, wide berth!” Argent announces.
“I understand your hesitation. The griffons understand and are friendly with elves due to some magic in the past that traveled within their blood lines. They do not care for orcs as you can see. Humans I do not know. If you would like to try with Aura, you are welcome to. I can ask her not to harm you.” He says to the mage.
"Lilia had suggested to me earlier that cleaning out the palace might be a good next mission for us, and I too am in agreement."
“With it cleared and the rainbow bridge opening we can then focus on the clan homes and safely seeing to our forests and the friends we have here. There are many that call this home, centaurs, brownies and other allies that we have neglected. We need to see to our allies as well.” He says back to Allurien.
“The king of the Elfholds came from Stobon's clan,” Lilia explains. “Clan Erendyl. That's why they consider themselves the 'royal clan' whether they deserve that title or not.”
“I don’t think any within clan Grundalf would ever call themselves royal.”he says evenly, “No disrespect. But I wonder. When the Rainbow bridge between our homes come to pass will their be a council among the Queen and King? Surely it is something to ponder.”he says evenly.
“I will pray for Ehlonna’s guidance. Unless our mages know of a different way to deal with the thorns.”
“Kylie warned me about such a thing.” Lilia admits with a sigh. “Looks like she was right.”
“Only if you wish it.”he says with a rueful smile, “after all, you are queen. If you are need of my skills you only need make it known.” He adds,”I would gladly serve you in your reign.”

Laucian is curious by Argent’s earrings, “So, you understand us in elvish? Impressive! You thought of learning our language?”
“I can show you the basics,” Allurien states. “I spent a year sailing around the Southern Sea when I was younger. I picked up many skills from that time.”
“I would be in your debt, Allurien.”
“That, as always, is my intent, my friend. Whether she likes it or not,” Andlin adds with a laugh.
“You have your work cut out for you. She can be headstrong.” He says with a smile and shake of the head. “I am glad you came with us. It has been sometime since we shared companionship of other elves. In time I hope this place dwarfs that of the Elfholds..”he says absently as he looks about the grandeur about him.

Later on Laucian will play with both cooshee and Onyx, while trying to figure out names for the pair. When it is time for bed Laucian will say his prayers to Ehlonna. Thanking her for her guidance, prayers and what they have accomplished here.
Til Ehlonna's will be done

“An advanced form of Wall of Thorns,” Lilia chimes in. “That was our guess.”
Kylie wrote:"So there's a half-elven clanhome below the Royal Palace in Alfheim?" Kylie asks. "I don't recall it being mentioned that the residents on the ground level were half-elven when we were there."
“No, there isn't,” Lilia says. “I had been trying to figure out how I was going to convince the Clan Council how to do this. That's when I realized that if I said it was the Sylvan Realm version of the Alfheim, the only place in the Elfholds where non-elves are free to live, that could work. It was your mother who suggested putting it on the island that holds the Royal Palace. It is an intriguing notion. We'll know how feasible that is once the thorny growth is removed.”
And;in wrote:“That is why so many of us went with Chandra,” Andlin adds. “We came here to save the Mother Tree and when we did arrive the deed had already been done. Many of us just wanted to help and still do.”
“I understand your point of view, Andlin,” Lilia states. “There is much to do and I would be a fool to turn down such skilled help.”
Andlin wrote:“As you wish, Your Majesty,” Andlin says with a bow. From there he speaks those who offered their services and starts to put a list of operatives together.
“I could get used to telling people what to do,” Lilia silently notes.
Lia wrote:“I have heard that there is word of starting a Queen’s Guard? I would like to offer you my sword. If you will have it. Once the Palace is freed I would like to see about these Darksong Knights that are spoken of in such high regard."
“Andlin is handling that,” Lilia explains. “This seems to be a similar concept to those rapid response units that Chandra proposed. Except these ones will deal with problems within and without the Sylvan Realm.”
Lia wrote:"When the rainbow bridge opens, how long will it remain open? I would be interested in seeing the Elfholds. Though, I dare say I would not go alone. They may think the Sylvan Realm is over run with drow and attack on sight."
“I-- I don't know how long the Rainbow Bridge will remain open,” Lilia admits. “That is something that we need to find out. We visited some of the Elfholds during our journey to the Sylvan Realm. Alfheim where we met the Elfin King and then we stopped at Ainsun an afternoon while flying the barge.”
Laucian wrote:“I don’t think any within Clan Grunalf would ever call themselves royal,” he says evenly, “No disrespect. But I wonder. When the Rainbow bridge between our homes come to pass will their be a council among the Queen and King? Surely it is something to ponder.” he says evenly.
“While I am not as verse in elfin politics as I probably should be, it seems to me that each domain is a separate thing,” Lilia surmises. “Given our positions, I would assume that I would deal with the King of the Elfholds about any issues between the elf nations. Another thing to deal with when the time comes.”
Laucian wrote:“Only if you wish it.”he says with a rueful smile, “after all, you are queen. If you are need of my skills you only need make it known.” He adds,”I would gladly serve you in your reign.”
“There are different ways to serve,” Lilia notes. “I will have to find a balance for myself. I am honored to have your skills and your council to aid me in the days to come.”
Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!

It was your mother who suggested putting it on the island that holds the Royal Palace. It is an intriguing notion. We'll know how feasible that is once the thorny growth is removed.”
"Thank you for the explanation, Lilia," Kylie says as the look of confusion on her face fades somewhat. "I fear I have too many things going on in my head these days and I am having trouble keeping them all straight. It occurs to me that we will need to take into account the need to house and feed all those who come to join the new half-elven clan, and I have no idea how many people that may end up being or how much space that may require."
Laucian wrote:“With it cleared and the rainbow bridge opening we can then focus on the clan homes and safely seeing to our forests and the friends we have here. There are many that call this home, centaurs, brownies and other allies that we have neglected. We need to see to our allies as well.” He says back to Allurien.
"You make a good point, Laucian," Kylie replies. "We do need to think in terms of all those living in the Sylvan Realm, whether sentient or not. I had lost sight of that, so thank you for the reminder."
Talen wrote:“Oh,” is all Talen can think of to say at first. “I didn't realize that. Sorry? I thought it was because I was awake all last night with this thing in my head calling me. It was like having a fly buzz around your head all the time. Maybe I was just tired?”
"I think it is pretty clear that you were 'called', Talen", Kylie says. "One thing I don't understand is why only you felt that call, and not any of the rest of us. As best we understand what was written at the site of the ruins, they call out to 'the young' of the Elder for 'teaching'. That seems to indicate that you are alike enough to one of the Elder races that you were affected. However, if that is so, why were your sister and I not also affected? I supposed Lia may not have been affected due to her conversion to full drow. The only difference I can think of between you and I that might matter in this instance is that I am a year or two older than you. Perhaps I was just slightly too old to be affected? I really don't know."
Talen wrote:“That's good then.” Talen looks at Lia and then back to Kylie. “Sorry if I made you both worry. I was exhausted and made a bad decision to get rid of that noise in my head before I went crazy.”
Lia wrote:“Worry isn’t the word, Talen , I truly feared for you. But, I am glad you are better.”
Kylie sighs. "Trying to get rid of the noise was not a bad decision, Talen. Running off and trying to do it by yourself was the bad decision. You ran toward a totally unknown situation, with no hint of what dangers might await you, with no one to back you up. You not only thrust yourself into potentially mortal danger, but also put the rest of us in danger trying to adapt to the situation. Do you understand how serious this is, Talen?"
Talen wrote:“If its a long time to an elf, then that just means not in our lifetime,” Talen adds in an annoyed tone. “We may never see the end result if we start this.”
Lia wrote:“Can you think of a better legacy?” she asks her brother and Kylie. “To know you built something for your people would speak volumes of yourself and for your kin. You would be remembered like Nightmist to the countless people she has helped find a home.” She rationalizes.
Kylie listens to Lia's response as she collects her own thoughts. "'Long time' were my words, not Lilia's, and my lifetime is no longer than your own." She hesitates uncertainly for a moment before continuing. "I was trying to convey to you that this is likely to take years, rather than weeks or months, not lifetimes. It will take time to ensure the security of the Sylvan Realm. It will take time to plan and execute the design and organization of a brand new clan-home. It will take time to recruit other half-elves to come join us here, to build homes and farms and ranches and businesses. And on top of that, it will take time to determine how to govern ourselves. Is that clearer? I'm just trying to be realistic about what this may require to get where we want to be."

Kylie looks over at Lia. "And I agree with you, Lia. I cannot think of a better legacy for us to strive toward."
Lia wrote:“Sometimes they find me." she counters with a wolfish grin. Apparently foolishness and stubbornness run in our family.” She says back her eyes narrowing. “It seemed safe enough. With all the weapons about the door I figured the Scro triggered any trap upon the door.”
"Lia, the scro triggering traps upon the door would not in any way protect you from any dangers that may have been waiting inside. As with your brother, doing this by yourself rather than getting others of the group to back you up placed both yourself and the rest of us in unnecessary danger. We need to think and act as a team if we want to survive to build a better future."

December 1st, CR 571 or Deepnight 23rd, 20,519 AP

The day is winding down and smaller conversations are taking place on the deck of the Sunflower...
Kylie wrote:Kylie turns to her mother. "When we visited the Royal Palace recently, there were huge, thorny vines growing in a massive thicket all around and under the palace. I think it was Laucian that suggested that it might be the result of a clerical spell, though whether that is true or not I don't know."
Lilia wrote:“An advanced form of Wall of Thorns,” Lilia chimes in. “That was our guess.”
“A reasonable assumption,” Allurien surmises. “Perhaps there is a temple within the palace complex and that is what controls the defenses? I know that priests can make use of their altars to control magical affects that are inline with their patron.”
Lilia wrote:“I understand your point of view, Andlin,” Lilia states. “There is much to do and I would be a fool to turn down such skilled help.”
“Well, at least we can rule out you being fool,” Andlin adds with a mischievous grin as he sets out on his task.
Laucian wrote:“You have your work cut out for you. She can be headstrong.” He says with a smile and shake of the head. “I am glad you came with us. It has been sometime since we shared companionship of other elves. In time I hope this place dwarfs that of the Elfholds..”he says absently as he looks about the grandeur about him.
“We are not all the different,” Andlin notes. “We all set out to save the Mother Tree, to ensure our heritage. Including more individuals in the Queen's activities can only be a good thing. As for the Queen herself, it will be an interesting challenge to take on.”

Afterwards, Kylie and Allurien spend some time together in the Clan Master's home...
Kylie wrote:"Indeed," Kylie says, nodding. "We are not quite sure where they live, but we will probably have to use the pillar artifacts to reach them. The only one we have seen them come through is currently buried under tons of rock and dirt, but I doubt that will stop them."
“I'm not very keen on that idea,” Allurien says with slight concern. “I would rather not teleport without knowing what waits at the arrival point. It's an idea place for an ambush And from what you said, these parasites control others, then giving them more soldiers is a bad idea.”
Kylie wrote:Kylie thinks for a moment. "From what Argent said, apparently their was Elder writing that said something about the young learning. I suppose it is possible that it was trying to inject knowledge into his brain.”
“That is interesting and strange all at the same time,” Allurien concludes.
Kylie wrote:"I don't know about 'stopping it', but Sheeryl was able to return him to consciousness. He seemed to feel fine and was surprised that everyone seemed so worried about him." Kylie shrugs. "That's Talen for you..."
“From my own experiences, a Heal spell is very powerful magic,” Allurien relates. “It not only heals any body injury, but mental ones as well. Maybe his mind was being changed and the magic stopped that process. I would keep an eye on your friend. He may not sill be 'himself'.”
Kylie wrote:"From Myev's story, I got the impression that the scro came from another world, or perhaps another continent. I don't know that we're likely to meet any more of them, as I believe that Myev is the only survivor of the group that came here.”
“I can always ask her,” Allurien says. “She must have made an impression on you to bring her into the Sylvan Realm. I can speak orc, so I can communicate with her.”
Kylie wrote:"I don't know about the owners of the Sunflower," Kylie says. "I'm not sure who owned it previously, or how likely they are to come here. I suppose it is possible that they have some means of tracking it, but I just don't know."
“There should be records on board the ship to tell who owns it and where its home port is,” Allurien suggests. “It just a matter of finding them and understanding them if its in a different language. That should give us some idea where the ship is from and who really owns it.”
Kylie wrote:"Really? Wow!" Kylie replies enthusiastically, amazed that she has already caught up with her mother as a spell-caster. "That sounds like a great idea. I'll mention it to Argent and see what she thinks of the idea. I would love to introduce you to Jallarzi and Uncle Sherwood."
“I look forwards to it,” Allurien says with a smile. “Didn't I exchange greetings with Sherwood a few days ago?”

“Nooooooo thanks!” Argent quickly answers. Sensing that more is needed, the Invoker adds, “I had a bad run in with Jallarzi's griffon when I first arrived at the Sallavarian Estate. I don't like griffons, they don't like me, so we keep our distance.”
Laucian wrote:Laucian is curious by Argent’s earrings, “So, you understand us in elvish? Impressive! You thought of learning our language?”
“Yes,” Argent easily answers. “With them on, I can comprehend any spoken language. Admittedly, I haven't though much about adding another language. I chose Alphatian as it was the language of mages and I can read Elder, but that was all that I have attempted thus far.”

Next morning, Argent will rise and finally memorize some new spells! Afterwards she'll make her way to the galley to see what she can whip up for breakfast. Beyond that, she doesn't have much in the way of plans.
I am an Invoker of no small power.

Lia
Kylie sighs. "Trying to get rid of the noise was not a bad decision, Talen. Running off and trying to do it by yourself was the bad decision. You ran toward a totally unknown situation, with no hint of what dangers might await you, with no one to back you up. You not only thrust yourself into potentially mortal danger, but also put the rest of us in danger trying to adapt to the situation. Do you understand how serious this is, Talen?"
Lia listens to Kylie’s words but remains quiet. While she understands Kylie’s point she can’t help but feel for her brother. First she scolded him now Kylie. Trying to safe her brother partially, she says, “I think he knows how serious it is.” looking to Kylie then to Talen. “He would not knowingly endanger any of us. And he did apologize for his actions.”
Silently she thinks to herself, ‘Is life not adapting to what arises before you?’
“Do you think I have not thought of that? Whomever locked that door did so to protect what was inside. Myev said most if not all the crew was not on board when this ship was stolen by the Scro. They were mostly likely protecting what they thought valuable, information or trinkets.
I disagree, Kylie. Perhaps it was risky, but to bring this ship within the Sylvian realm unchecked be considered riskier? What if it opened while we slept? Could you sleep soundly knowing there was the unknown not 10 feet where you rested your head. I could not.” She says evenly.”I can handle myself quite well with my longsword and have Sasha and Misha I can call upon. One of them would be sent you, while the other would stay with me. Besides, I did tell Lilia of what I did. She did not scold me like I was some child.”
Lia will go to the deck and pray to her Patron dancing and singing in the moonlight. When she is done she eill turn in for the night and be ready for the following day. Once awake she will find Kylie and Talen to check out the remainder of the metal door room.
The last thing you shall hear is the bladesong of my sword.

Talen:
Kylie wrote:"I think it is pretty clear that you were 'called', Talen", Kylie says.
“I don't know either,” Talen quietly adds. “Lucky me, I guess.”
Lia wrote:“I was just hinting at the fact you always seem to hungry. It would not be the first time you thought with your stomach.” she adds playfully as a smile etches across her ebony skin.
“I am still growing,” Talen replies.
Lia wrote:“Worry isn’t the word, Talen , I truly feared for you. But, I am glad you are better.”
“I didn't realize,” Talen softly says. “All I can say is sorry.”
Kylie wrote:Kylie sighs. "Trying to get rid of the noise was not a bad decision, Talen. Running off and trying to do it by yourself was the bad decision. You not only thrust yourself into potentially mortal danger, but also put the rest of us in danger trying to adapt to the situation. Do you understand how serious this is, Talen?"
“Serious enough to get yelled at,” Talen says defensively.
Lia wrote:“Can you think of a better legacy?” she asks her brother and Kylie. “To know you built something for your people would speak volumes of yourself and for your kin. You would be remembered like Nightmist to the countless people she has helped find a home.” She rationalizes.
Kylie wrote:Kylie listens to Lia's response as she collects her own thoughts.

“I think I am hopelessly over my head,” Talen answers taking all of that in.
Lia wrote:“Sometimes they find me." she counters with a wolfish grin. Apparently foolishness and stubbornness run in our family.” She says back her eyes narrowing. “It seemed safe enough. With all the weapons about the door I figured the Scro triggered any trap upon the door.”
Kylie wrote:"Lia, the scro triggering traps upon the door would not in any way protect you from any dangers that may have been waiting inside. “If there were defenses outside, then there are bound to be more inside,” Talen suggests. “If this ship was a trading vessel, than it probably has highly valuable goods locked in there. I doubt anyone is in there. After all if they didn't come out during the months the scro were on the ship.”
Lia wrote:Lia makes a sound like a whip cracking at Talen when he mentions she is the boss. “I don’t know how you can sleep with all this excitement going on about you! A new ship that flies, untold items and information rooms away. Not to mention cleaning of the Palace and rebuilding a place we can call home!”she says looking back at the others.

Talen sighs, picks up his bowl of stew and bread and slips out of the cabin for some peace and quiet. Those two seem to be arguing about something a lot lately and Talen isn't in the mood for it. Talen makes his way up top and finds a place to sit and eat in peace.

Lilia:
Kylie wrote:"Thank you for the explanation, Lilia," Kylie says as the look of confusion on her face fades somewhat. "I fear I have too many things going on in my head these days and I am having trouble keeping them all straight. It occurs to me that we will need to take into account the need to house and feed all those who come to join the new half-elven clan, and I have no idea how many people that may end up being or how much space that may require."
“It was an idea forming in the back of my head for many days now,” Lilia states. “This was the first time I made my thoughts public.”
Kylie wrote:"You make a good point, Laucian," Kylie replies. "We do need to think in terms of all those living in the Sylvan Realm, whether sentient or not. I had lost sight of that, so thank you for the reminder."
“Another thing to add to my chore list,” Lilia notes.
Allurien wrote:“A reasonable assumption,” Allurien surmises. “Perhaps there is a temple within the palace complex and that is what controls the defenses? I know that priests can make use of their altars to control magical affects that are inline with their patron.”
“That makes the most sense,” Lilia agrees, “given that the affect is similar to a priest spell.”
Andlin wrote:“Well, at least we can rule out you being fool,” Andlin adds with a mischievous grin as he sets out on his task.
“Indeed,” Lilia utters in slight surprise, one eyebrow arching.

Lilia's immediate concerns include defending the Mother Tree. Replacing those who were lost on the Clan Council and electing a new Council Master. Landing the Sunflower in the river down below, provided it is deep enough to safely hold the ship. Lilia will replace her spent spells first thing in the morning.
Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!

Kylie:
Talen wrote:“I don't know either,” Talen quietly adds. “Lucky me, I guess.”
"It is a question that I think we need to find an answer to," Kylie says. "Hopefully we will get a chance to go back and investigate further."
Talen wrote:“I think I am hopelessly over my head,” Talen answers taking all of that in.
"It's not all that bad, Talen," Kylie says with a chuckle. "We can do a little at a time and see how it goes."
Talen wrote:“Serious enough to get yelled at,” Talen says defensively.
Kylie just sighs and shakes her head. "I'm sorry if you felt like I was yelling at you; I didn't mean it to come across that way."
Lia wrote:Lia listens to Kylie’s words but remains quiet. While she understands Kylie’s point she can’t help but feel for her brother. First she scolded him now Kylie. "I know he wouldn't, Lia," Kylie says. "And yes, he did apologize. I hope you are right."
Lia wrote:“Do you think I have not thought of that? Whomever locked that door did so to protect what was inside. Myev said most if not all the crew was not on board when this ship was stolen by the Scro. They were mostly likely protecting what they thought valuable, information or trinkets.

Besides, I did tell Lilia of what I did. She did not scold me like I was some child.”
Kylie pinches the bridge of her nose between her thumb and forefinger as she takes a deep breath. Clearly, she came off harsher than she meant to; she'll have to be more careful about that in the future. "That is one possibility. Another is that it was wizard-locked to keep something in. If so, it may still be there; not all threats are obvious. I would have slept better knowing there was a wizard-locked door between me and whatever danger might be in there.

"You are certainly capable, Lia, as are we all. And we are far more capable as a group. No one of us would have survived those bug creatures alone, but we all survived by working together."
Talen wrote:“If there were defenses outside, then there are bound to be more inside,” Talen suggests. “If this ship was a trading vessel, than it probably has highly valuable goods locked in there. "Whatever is there, we will find out tomorrow," Kylie says.

Lilia wrote:“It was an idea forming in the back of my head for many days now,” Lilia states. “This was the first time I made my thoughts public.”
Kylie nods. The queen and her mother have given her much to think about and to discuss with Lia and Talen.
Lilia wrote:“That makes the most sense,” Lilia agrees, “given that the affect is similar to a priest spell.”
Kylie listens to the exchange between her mother and Lilia, but has nothing more to add. They both seem to know more of these things than she does.
___
Allurien wrote:“I'm not very keen on that idea,” Allurien says with slight concern. “I would rather not teleport without knowing what waits at the arrival point. It's an idea place for an ambush And from what you said, these parasites control others, then giving them more soldiers is a bad idea.”
"Neither am I, Mom," Kylie replies. "Another option might be to set up a watch or some kind of ambush for when they return. Not exactly sure how to make that work, since it's currently buried, though."
Allurien wrote:“From my own experiences, a Heal spell is very powerful magic,” Allurien relates. “It not only heals any body injury, but mental ones as well. Maybe his mind was being changed and the magic stopped that process. I would keep an eye on your friend. He may not sill be 'himself'.”
"I intend to," Kylie says resolutely.
Allurien wrote:“I can always ask her,” Allurien says. “She must have made an impression on you to bring her into the Sylvan Realm. I can speak orc, so I can communicate with her.”
"You can?" Kylie asks, surprised. "I suppose I should learn some day. Been so busy, I haven't really had time to learn a new language."
Allurien wrote:“There should be records on board the ship to tell who owns it and where its home port is,” Allurien suggests. “It just a matter of finding them and understanding them if its in a different language. That should give us some idea where the ship is from and who really owns it.”
Kylie nods. "That makes sense. I supposed we can look into it tomorrow."
Allurien wrote:“I look forwards to it,” Allurien says with a smile. “Didn't I exchange greetings with Sherwood a few days ago?”
"Oh, yeah... that's right... you did." Embarrassment at her lapse brings a blush to Kylie's face. "It slipped my mind..."
___

At the end of an incredibly long and busy day, Kylie finally lies down to bed. As she prepares for sleep, she makes a mental checklist of all the things she needs to do on the morrow. 'Renew my spells. Investigate the mystery room with Talen, Lia and any others that are willing to help. Land the ship. Talk with Argent about Mom taking us back to Cynallon. See how Myev is doing. Find Andlin and talk with him about this new Queen's Guard group he's assembling. Catch up with Elora and Lorelei and share whatever perspective on the events of the trip that she is able. Spend more time with Mom. And probably more that I'm forgetting...'
