Tales from the Edge - Investigations & Examinations

Post by GM Fang »

Now that the cantina commotion has died down, the group heads outside. Kitazza suggests that the group should try to get the ship that the Ubese or Rodians had, if it indeed existed.
Harrison wrote:"That is a good point, I suppose it is ours by rights of salvage on defeating them. However, don't forget that the Ubese did flee the scene and I bet he will take offense to us requisitioning his ship. Still it is definitely worth checking out, if you know the landing pad it is located at. If it is on our way to where Neesa is taking us, perhaps we can all check it out together. If not, maybe you two can check it out, after we see where Neesa is taking us, so that he can come back and report the situation." After a small pause Harrison will continue, "Also, why not get into contact with Pash and Vlad by comlink and get them to back you up. They are missing far too much of fun."
Neesa begins to comment, “The two landing bays here in Mos Shuuta are in far corners of the town. Unfortunately neither are on our path.”

Kitazza and Zavi are tasked with trying to find the ship. Kitazza arrived in Landing Bay Besh with Pash. Pash and Vlad are currently waiting there which is the one not far from Teemo’s palace. Landing Bay Aurek is the one at which Harrison arrived. (Are you going to meet them there at Besh or have the four go to Aurek?)

Meanwhile, Zavi gives a blaster to Harrison and the other he stuffs in Kit’s pack. Kit and Zavi both share a few words with Kori as well.
Harrison wrote:Once at the hideout, Harrison listens to Neesa's story about the Ubese and says "Well we are a team now and teammates look out for one another. As for Hutts, I suppose they are like anyone, some got your back, others have their own backs. I guess I was fortunate hooking up with Ursula like I did. She runs a antiquities museum on Nar Shadda, so she and I share some of the same interests in preserving cultural artifacts. That shared interest has helped make sure we have a good working relationship."
“Not every team seems to operate at you suggest,” Neesa says with a hint of anger in her voice. “Hopefully this assemblage will be as you say. There are some trusts yet to develop.” She pauses for a moment. “I don’t think that Seedoneo’s bodyguard likes me very much. As for the Hutts, best not to trust them any farther than one can toss them, I say. They have many loves and their workers are far down on the hierarchy. It’s good that you have managed to develop an equitable arrangement with you keeper. It does not always work that way and it often does not always remain,” she cautions.

----------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, Mile’ka becomes bored with the drama unfolding in the street. She grabs the weapons that the Ubese left and her pack and heads for the bunkhouse. The location is not the greatest, as smoke from the Slagworks continues to spill over this way.

Stepping inside, Mile’ka sees that there is a modest eatery on the ground floor. A few humanoids of various types are scattered about around the room. The place is only about half the size of the cantina. The owners of the bunkhouse, a human couple, great Mile’ka as she comes in. “Are you looking for food or a room?” the woman asks. “Or both?” her husband adds, hopefully.

Still outside, Kori is continuing her conversation with her sister Lannera.
Kori wrote:Kori tries to digest all the things her sister is telling her. Something fishy is going on but Kori has no idea what. A thought does come to her. “Did you talk to any of his friends? Is there anyone from his gang days he still hangs out with?”
“Larek split ties with the swoop gang long ago. That’s why we moved from Mos Zabu to here. It’s not much better overall, but is a different environment without those previous distractions,” Lani explains.

“None of his friends know what happened either, but I haven’t had the chance to talk to any co-workers yet. His good friend from the Landing Bay wasn’t at home either. I did meet another woman at the Troopers Barracks when I was trying to find out what was going on. It seems the same thing happened to her boyfriend.”
Kori wrote:Speaking to the whole motley crew of scum and villainy, Kori will say, “So, any of you have any idea who would kidnap a former swoop bike racer? Or who might know who did?”
Zavi denies any knowledge of the situation or who might be involved. Neesa thinks for a moment and then steps closer. “The Imperials have no reason to hide an arrest. If this person was guilty, they would simply hold him or send him off-planet for his sentence. Unfortunately, Mos Shuuta being what it is, any number of unsavory characters could be involved. But fortunately, Mos Shuuta being what it is, someone, or several someones, know exactly what happened and for a few credits might be eager to tell the tale. The trick is finding out who. For what it’s worth, we haven’t heard any talk within Teemo’s palace about anything like this. He’s been too busy getting ready for his business take overs.”

Neesa continues, “There are several of Teemo’s direct employ who know a lot of what happens in Mos Shuuta. And there are many individuals here who barter in information as much as goods. Perhaps you should talk to Vorn?”

Kori:
Lani wrote:“Larek split ties with the swoop gang long ago. That’s why we moved from Mos Zabu to here. It’s not much better overall, but is a different environment without those previous distractions,” Lani explains.
Kori simply nods at her sister's explanation, but mentally adds, “As far as she knows. Husbands don't always tell their wives what they are doing while out.”
“Now that really is strange,” Kori agrees.

In an attempt to get more information, Kori asks the group that was attacked in the cantina if they know anything. She is momentarily surprised when the Squib answers her.
Furry Munchkin wrote:“Zavi don't know know any kidnappers,” the squib will flatly say without any emotion.
Kori nods in appreciation and says, “Thank you anyway.”
Slinky Green Woman wrote:Neesa thinks for a moment and then steps closer. “The Imperials have no reason to hide an arrest. Much to Kori's surprise, the Falleen steps forward and offers a great deal of information. What the woman says makes sense to a certain degree and it does align with her own suspicions.

“Thank you very much for your kindness,” Kori gratefully says to the Falleen. “I'm not familiar with this Vorn, but then again, I'm not from around here. Any idea where I could find him?”

Zavi:
Harrison wrote:To Zavi, "Sure, I will take one of those blasters, always pays to carry a spare."
Zavi gives one of the blasters to Harrison and hands the other to Kit so that he can put it into his backpack, saving the wookie the pain of the Squib having to climb him like a tree to reach his backpack.
Harrison wrote:"That is a good point, I suppose it is ours by rights of salvage on defeating them. Slinky blue/green woman wrote:Neesa begins to comment, “The two landing bays here in Mos Shuuta are in far corners of the town. Unfortunately neither are on our path.”
“Two landing landing pads, opposite sides sides of town,” Zavi agrees.

Turning to Kit he adds, “You contact Pash? Find out if ship ship is where they are at. If not, then we all go go to Aurek. If we find Ubese eliminate eliminate him and his threat. Then we all safe safe.”
Silly Human wrote:Kori nods in appreciation and says, “Thank you anyway.”
Zavi nods back and then goes off with Kit on their trip to Besh to meet up with Pash and see if ship is there. If not, then on to other landing pad.

Vlad hears Pash's com start to go off and looks at him. "If it is our allies, tell them we have a pirate ship here and would like help. The enemy does not seem to be too well armed," Vlad likes peace as much as the next guy but battle is where he grew as a man. Now lets hope they get here and that ship is ours. Vlad stands up and moves behind the crate that he was on. As soon as Vlad sees more of his allies he will take aim and fire on the pirate captain unless his fellows say no.

Harrison listens to Neesa's comments then is suddenly shocked at her comment that Ursula was his keeper. He says to her "My keeper? Look, I am sorry if I said something to upset you, but I was honestly trying to let you know that you could count on me looking out for you now that we are working together. As far as Vlad's problem with you, maybe he had a falling out with the last Falleen woman he met or is just plain moody or maybe a loner. It's not like he is trying to stick with the group at all. As for everyone else, I didn't notice any animosity towards you." Harrison pauses a moment realizing that Neesa's caution is warranted. Harrison then gives Neesa a smile before continuing "I do have to admit though, if I do go over budget with her money, I could very well find myself hung out to dry."

Kitazza

Kitazza listens to the human female. " I don't deal with kidnappers," he growls as his translator whirls and squeaks out a reply. "Maybe he ran away." He suggests seeing if the trait runs in the family.

Ship business... Kitazza will agree with Zavi. He will then head to the hanger and see if Pash and Vladimir know of the ship in a hanger.

Kori continues to search for answers or at least clues regarding her brother-in-law’s recent disappearance. It seems he was detained for an evening, but then the Imperial authorities later denied Larek’s apprehension. Lannera is clearly confused and desperately concerned, unable to get a straight answer to what may have happened.

A few from Harrison’s group are unable to offer any relevant information, but the Falleen woman, Neesa, has some insight and a suggestion for the young droid engineer.
Kori wrote:Much to Kori's surprise, the Falleen steps forward and offers a great deal of information. What the woman says makes sense to a certain degree and it does align with her own suspicions.

“Thank you very much for your kindness,” Kori gratefully says to the Falleen. “I'm not familiar with this Vorn, but then again, I'm not from around here. Any idea where I could find him?”
“Vorn is the junk shop dealer here in Mos Shuuta,” Neesa responds. Kori realizes that she does know who Vorn is, but never really knew his name. Or maybe she just didn’t like the guy very much because of the way he mistreated his R5 droid, R5-K3. She’s had to deal with him several times to get extra parts needed on previous visits to Mos Shuuta.

The junk shop is not far from the cantina and bunk house, a little north and just about in the center of the town. It is a low pourstone building with an attached scrapyard. Kori has spent much of her time in Mos Shuuta here rummaging for bits.

Harrison, Zavi and Kitazza agree that the two furry humanoids should check on Vlad and Pash at the Landing Bay. Kit contacts Vlad on his com and Vlad tells them that there is a ship there and some enemies that he thinks they can take. Zavi and Kit head for the Landing Bay Besh. They circle back past the traders and up past the barracks and customs office to where Kitazza originally arrived in Mos Shuuta with Pash.

Once there, they see a ship that Vlad points out. It is a Wayfarer-class medium freighter. The three organics that Vlad and Pash saw have since gone back onboard with a few others that have met them here at the landing pad. A Nikto with a blaster carbine has come out of the ship and stands casually near the ramp. The droid is on a platform doing some minor repairs to the ship’s exterior.

Meanwhile, Harrison, Neesa and Bep go to a safe location to discuss their original business which is procuring transport to Gavos and back. Neesa negotiates a conditional agreement for 2500 credits to take them all there and back. Bep is willing to drop the price to 2250 if Harrison and Neesa agree now and not wait until the group attempts to acquire their own ship.

On the way there Harrison and Neesa discuss thoughts on the group.
Harrison wrote:Harrison listens to Neesa's comments then is suddenly shocked at her comment that Ursula was his keeper. He says to her "My keeper? As for everyone else, I didn't notice any animosity towards you."
Neesa smiles at Harrison’s comment. “My anger is directed toward my former teammate. He is a strong warrior, but also a gullible fool. He will not end his agenda until he is dead or accomplishes his mission however. Those Ubese are so stubborn.” She thinks for a moment and her features change slightly as her emotions alter. “Perhaps you are correct about the bodyguard. I will keep an open mind, for now.” She pauses for a moment. “And two open eyes!”
Harrison wrote:Harrison pauses a moment realizing that Neesa's caution is warranted. Harrison then gives Neesa a smile before continuing "I do have to admit though, if I do go over budget with her money, I could very well find myself hung out to dry."
“You see. My point is very correct. It is not so easy to leave the employ of a Hutt without much pain and bloodshed, I have heard.”

While the others go off on their own adventures and agendas, Mile’ka has decided on some rest while she determines her next move. The human couple who are proprietors of the establishment greet the Twi’lek. The male points out the outer stairwell which leads to the common sleeping area. “You can choose your own cot and the air shower is at the end of the room,” he says.

The woman chimes in, “If you’re hungry we have a real treat today: Dewback stew.”

Now what is everyone going to do?

While she has no intentions of staying, Mile'ka nonetheless wants to get some information from the locals. However, she must be cautious, and will use their next answer to determine how she proceeds further.

Vlad looks at Pash, Zavi and Kit, "It is up to you guys if we take this Wayfarer-class medium freighter. Starting to get edgy from the waiting. Either way I have a feeling that the planet we are going to and the mine is going to be getting a lot of blaster holes." Vlad sees that the two furry demi-humans have burns on their fur and thinks that they have gotten into trouble already. He clicks his tongue at no one thinking this day just gets better and better. Vlad will still move to behide the cart and wait for his allies to make the final call.

Kitazza looks to the armed individual and droid working on the freighter. Kitazza looks at the freighter looking for cannons, glances at Zavi then back at Vlad, “I’d rather not have a freighter firing their cannons on us,” he growls out.“Besides for the trouble at the cantina, we may have acquired a ship through right of salvage. We came to get you guys and see if you were interested in coming to find it,” he growls out, his amber eyes looking to both Pash and Vlad.

As Neesa finishes with her last bit of insight on her former companion, Harrison replies "Well from what you are saying, it sounds like your old companion just might be a reoccurring problem for us, as we attempt to complete this job.Hopefully we will get enough of a head start off this rock, before he can recruit any more help and find out where we are headed."

To Bep Harrison says "I appreciator the lower offer of transport if we act quickly, but I still would like to wait until we get a report back on the situation. I would think that a chance to acquire a ship doesn't come around too often, and that you could appreciate our taking the chance at grabbing one."

Neesa sighs, then responds, "Yes, it certainly does seem that way. Hopefully he will find another direction for his efforts, but I don't expect that to happen anytime soon."
--------------------------

Bep lets out a hoot and shakes his head. "Kodamoe! Price is lower because you maybe find ship. Take ship now, pay now or ras quee high."

Neesa leans in and whispers, "I think what he is trying to say is that he will reduce the price to lock it in. Otherwise, they are out the credits if we get the Ubese' ship, assuming it's still intact and is still here. If we try for the other ship, their price will be higher." Neesa smiles. "Supply and demand..."
----------------------------

At the bunkhouse, Mile'ka chats with the human proprietors. There is a counter near where they accept credits for the food on this level where the Twi'lek places her blaster carbine and pack.
Mile'ka wrote:"Is it really a treat?" Mile'ka asks skeptically.
"Oh indeed," the man says. "Daylana here makes the best Dewback stew on Tatooine!" Mile'ka agrees to get some food and pays for a shower.
Mile'ka wrote:Still, she will get food and a shower, but before she heads for the stairwell, she will ask the humans, "What passes for work around here?"
The two look at each other for a moment. "Well, considering your... appearance," the woman begins, "one of the few wealthy individuals in town may need a bodyguard. The Imperials don't hire anyone, of course. And there's always Teemo, if you really want to work for one of those Hutts." She makes a disparaging face as she says this last part.

"Mos Shuuta isn't that big," the man adds. "We don't get many visitors and few people move in here permanently. Depending on what skills you have there are a few major businesses, like the junk shop or some of the other traders who are always looking for unusual gear. Oh, and I hear that the Desert Survey office is always looking for scouts. I suppose an enterprising individual such as yourself could find some work here."

Zavi:

As Kit talks to Pash via the comlink, Zavi adds, “Tell him to keep keep eye out for the Ubese. And if any ship ship there belongs to Rodians!”

After that we're off to the landing bay. Zavi will drop to all fours to keep pace with the long strides of the wookie. Zavi knows Mos Shuuta well enough to lead the way if Kit gets lost.
Once there, they see a ship that Vlad points out. It is a Wayfarer-class medium freighter. Zavi listens to what Vlad discovered and then the Wookie's response. Taking a good look at the ship, a grin comes to the Squib's furry face.

“Its Captain Zate's ship ship!” the Squib says excitedly. “Why you want to be mean mean to him? Let's see if he has anything good good to buy!”

Zavi will move closer, nod non-threateningly at the Nikto as he passes and go up inside to see what new cargo Captain Zate has for sale.

“I doubt that,” Kori simply says, biting her tongue from saying a great deal more to the large and heavily armed Wookie.
Slinky Green Woman wrote:“Vorn is the junk shop dealer here in Mos Shuuta,” Neesa responds. Kori realizes that she does know who Vorn is, but never really knew his name. Or maybe she just didn’t like the guy very much because of the way he mistreated his R5 droid, R5-K3. “Oh, that's who that is,” Kori realizes. “The guy who runs the scrapyard. Thank you very much.”

Kori turns around to say something to the Twilek, but much to her surprise she is gone! “Whatever,” Kori shrugs mostly to herself.

Turning back to Lani, Kori says, “Hop in, we'll go pay this Vorn a visit.”

Kori gets in the landspeeder herself and starts it up. She'll casually make the short drive to Vorn's place.
The junk shop is not far from the cantina and bunk house, a little north and just about in the center of the town. It is a low pourstone building with an attached scrapyard. Kori has spent much of her time in Mos Shuuta here rummaging for bits.
Pulling up and stopping near the scrapyard, Kori powers down the landspeeder. Turn to Lani she says, “Why don't you stay here and let me deal with Vorn. Okay?”

Given just how emotional her older sister may be, Kori would rather just do this on her own.

Kit and Zavi arrive at Landing Bay Besh, where Vlad and Pash have been watching a newly arrived ship.
Zavi wrote:When we arrive at the landing bay, Zavi will ask, “Was there a Rodian ship ship here? A wounded Ubese?”
Pash answers, “We haven’t seen any Ubese come into here. Nothing has left since we arrived. Not sure what that ship belongs to over there, “ he says pointing at a docked freighter.

When Zavi goes into the ship, named the Redoubtable, he first comes across the Mon Calamari pilot, Mujnah. “Hello Zavi,” she says, recognizing the Squib. She is carrying a toolbox and heads to the bridge.

In the cargo bay, there are racks of various equipment, weapons and parts of known and unknown varieties in various states of repair and disrepair. Crates and boxes block some of the aisles in a haphazard winding array of paths between the myriad items that Captain Zate has for sale.

In a cleared section of the cargo bay, Zavi sees Captain Zate bargaining with several Arcona. Nearby a Devaronian is looking at some equipment with the Besalisk, Vas’neg. A Bothan waits nearby for a chance to discuss purchases with Zate.

Seeing Zavi approach, Zate raises his paw for a moment. “How are you doing, you purple-furred scoundrel?”

Korianna and Lannera take the short trip to Vorn’s Junk shop and the Scrapyard. Kori suggests that Lani stay with the speeder. She agrees, nodding her head, but remaining silent.

As Kori steps inside she sees a hunched old human male lurking behind a low counter covered with disassembled droid and machine parts. The man glances up at her then turns to the garbage-can shaped R5 unit standing at his side. He kicks the droid and shrieks, “You’re supposed to tell me when I have customers, you bucket of bolts! Go outside and finish stripping that speeder bike wreck.” The droid trundles off with a surly ‘booooop” and the man turns back to Kori.

“Welcome! As you can see,” he points at the racks and shelves and enormous buckets of scrap metal and parts. “I have anything you could want… for the right price.”

Vlad listens to what the Wookie says and starts to head out of the landing bay looking back at the others not caring about the sqib. "If there is a ship at the other landing bay it will be locked up and have a guard or two around it. Also time is running out before we are spouse to meet so we will have to run. Pash we need you to fly the ship if it is there. Zavi we are leaving here up!!!!" Vlad yells the last part. This day may be looking up. If the ship is there we have a ride and we can move a bit more freely. The other thing I like about this is the fact that I can start to look for my objective.

“Good, you flea flea-bitten pirate!” Zavi says back in a good natured tone and wave.

Just then, off in the distance, Zavi hears the voice of the bodyguard who seems to dislike guarding bodies. “Zavi we are leaving here up!"

Zavi sighs to himself and mentally kicks himself for just forgetting about the Rodian ship and the dangerous Ubese. Turning around, Zavi drops to all fours and dashes off after the others heading to the other landing bay.

Kori:
Korianna and Lannera take the short trip to Vorn’s Junk shop and the Scrapyard. Kori suggests that Lani stay with the speeder. She agrees, nodding her head, but remaining silent.
Seeing her older sister being quiet, Kori feels like she has to say something at this point. “It'll be okay,” she tries to reassure her sister as she walks towards the scrapyard.

Hopefully it sounded more convincing than Kori actually felt. Kori is still trying to figure out just how she's going to go about getting the information that she needs. She knew how to be charming with the boys when she wanted to be. In her mind it was just a matter of using her natural charm towards a different goal. Pausing to check out her reflection in a shiny surface, Kori adjusted her face and tried to wipe away some of the dirt from her face.
Kori has been in the shop before, and the way the proprietor treats her droids makes her angry. “You'll get yours someday,” Kori thinks to herself with a grimace.
vorn wrote:“Welcome! As you can see,” he points at the racks and shelves and enormous buckets of scrap metal and parts. “I have anything you could want… for the right price.”
“Hello!” Kori responds with a bright smile, concealing her own disgust. Kori slinks forward, eyeing the parts and looking for a few parts that she really could use. “Yes, you have quite the collection of parts. But anything? Surely you can't have everything here for sale.”

“Keep him talking,” Kori thinks to herself. “Maybe I can get him to open up about his sideline and make it seem like his idea.”

Vlad looks at the Wookie and sighs a little. "What I am worried about is the number of people in the hunter group. If you can tell me how many was in the fire fight with you I can do a rough guest of the ship and the number of what is left of the party. Beside if they are any type of good bounty hunters I would be worried about the anti-ship guys they have." Vlad says this to the group. He sees Zavi come running up to meet them. "If there is a guard out side of the ship do not make him go boom . I want one of them alive. They will wish they were dead after I was through with them." Vlad says the last line as if he had done it on numerous accessions. Vlad brings his blaster up to his hips and make sure that his sword is there as will. "Now let the bug hunt begin."

The Imperials do hire, Mile'ka thinks to herself, but there is no point in getting into that argument with these two. She ignores the distaste from the human woman over her appearance. Humans simply are one of the most xenophobic and intolerant of other races that exist in the galaxy. The rest of the information is standard fare, and of course there are Hutts. Still, the information helps confirm her choices and what she must do next.
Mile'ka thanks them for the information and eats quietly. She will watch to see if she is overly noticed by any of the other patrons, otherwise she will finish up and go shower.

Relieved to get the sand out of everywhere, even if just for a few moments before trudging back out into it, Mile'ka gathers her typical load out and heads back into Mos Shuuta. Now to avoid the Imperials and the Hutts, she thinks. Mile'ka will start at the spaceport, getting directions from someone if needed. She wants to see what kind of ships are there, but will do so from a casual stance. Later, she will determine if passage is available, and what type of negotiating techniques might be required, but first she wants to weigh her choices.

Mile'ka -

Mile’ka eats quietly and discreetly keeps an eye out for whoever might be overly interested in her presence. The few other patrons here look away when she catches their eye and the Twi’lek thinks it’s more because of her arms and armor than anything else. People in Mos Shuuta know that some individuals are not to be trifled with and probably assume she is either a bounty hunter or an enforcer for the Hutt.

After getting a relieving air shower, Mile’ka heads back into the dusty street. The wind has died down some in the late afternoon. Getting directions from the bunkhouse proprietors, she learns there are actually two Landing Bays: Aurek in the northwest corner and Besh in the northeast. Mos Shuuta is not large enough for a true spaceport. In addition, they tell her about the access consoles that are available which can show a map of the city.

Wanting to avoid both the Imperials and the Hutt as much as possible, Mile’ka heads to Aurek which is a little further away but not close to the Imperial barracks or Teemo’s palace, as Besh happens to be.

Mile’ka passes through town, heading east. Along the way, she notices a figure atop the water tower, slighting north of her path to Aurek. It seems to just be sitting there and not looking down the sight of a rifle or even electrobinoculars. The last building that she passes is the warehouse for Landing Bay Aurek, aptly named Warehouse Aurek.

Arriving at the Landing Bay, she sees that there are Imperial sentries at the entrance. Stepping into the shadows for a moment, to decide her next step, she notices a somewhat familiar figure in the crowd. It is the Ubese mercenary who had started the fight in the cantina!

Kori goes into Vorn’s Junk Shop and begins to try and get some information from the proprietor, which she holds in high contempt. She sees all sorts of parts from disassembled speeders and lots of droid parts from various models. The mechanic in her is easily attracted to the cornucopia of wires, metal, gear, machinery and more that cover the counter.
Kori wrote:“Hello!” Kori responds with a bright smile, concealing her own disgust. Kori slinks forward, eyeing the parts and looking for a few parts that she really could use.

The old man’s eyes light up a little and he stands up a little straighter, but still hunched over somewhat. “I’ve seen you in my shop before, haven’t I? Yer Corran’s kid, ain’t ya?” he says, the questions more rhetorical than anything.

“I’ve got any of the parts you may need for your work out at your old man’s shop.” He sifts through a few of the items, as examples, lifting them briefly to show her. “Why we’ve got control valves, transponders, power couplings, energy adapters. And if I remember you like to tinker with droids.” He holds up a droid cognitive module. “You might be able to do something interesting with this. Better than my old hunk of junk.”
Kori wrote:“Yes, you have quite the collection of parts. But anything? Surely you can't have everything here for sale.”
He pauses for a moment, thinking about her comment and rubs his chin. He looks around, although there is no one else inside the shop at the moment. He then leans in and whispers. “I have contacts. I can get just about anything you want: Drugs? Poisons? Weapons?” he pauses for a moment, letting the revelation linger. “Do you need someone…. taken out?”

Neesa and Bep both wait for Harrison's decision. Bep hoots something unintelligible and types some things into his datapad. He then looks up again at Harrison and says," We may have another opportunity. Want ship or no?" The Ortolan looks at him questioningly with its beady black eyes.

Zavi, Kit, Vlad and Pash -

“Good, you flea flea-bitten pirate!” Zavi says back in a good-natured tone and wave.

Zate looks hurt at the comment and places his paws on his hips. “You know I am not a pirate. I am a business-squib.” He laughs though at the comment.

Zavi hears from Vlad, and they along with Pash and Kit decide to make their way to Landing Bay Aurek. The trip across town passes quickly enough and most people in the streets pass when they see the Wookie leading the way. Passing quickly by the Imperial sentries, the group enters the Landing Bay. This one is somewhat larger than Besh and there are three YT-1300s here. One is having some repairs done. There seems to be more activity here as well. Another of the ships is having cargo unloaded and moved out of the landing bay.

So now what?

Zavi laughs as well, as Captain Zate knew he was only kidding. “If you're a business business man, then so am I!” But alas, the visit is a short one as bellowing from outside puts Zavi on the move again.
Kit wrote:Soon after Zavi comes running up', they selling anything good?" he growls his translator whirling out a quick response.
“Didn't get a chance chance to look,” Zavi answers as he runs after the wookie. “Captain Zate always have have something good!”

“At least five five Rodians, the Ubese, and three three others in armor,” Zavi reports. “Only the Ubese left left the cantina.”

“Understood,” Zavi simply answers.

“You must know my father then. I didn't know you had a history?”

Kori is genuinely surprised at what nasty things the shopkeeper is involved in. Looks like information isn't the only thing he trades! Trying not to seem sickened by this old coot, Kori will say, “Do I need someone taken out? No not today. But today day isn't over yet!” That last part was said with a laugh, let the slimy shopkeeper know that she was just teasing.

Kori will lean in herself and much like he did look about for a moment before speaking while pouring on the charm. “For someone who has, as you say, contacts, then you must really be informed about what goes on in Mos Shuuta? You probably know everything!”

Kori will smile again and waits on the shopkeepers reply.

“So far, so good,” She thinks to herself.

Maneuvering through Mos Shuuta is relatively straightforward besides not having one centralized space port. She does spot one peculiarity on her way to one of the landing bays; a lone figure perched atop a water tower. Might be a lookout for raiders or other things like storms, she considers. There are easily half a dozen other reasons Mile'ka can think of that would put someone on a high vantage point, but since she is not going to stop and speak with the person, she dismisses all those thoughts. Finally, she reaches her destination, but there are some unexpected surprises.
Arriving at the Landing Bay, she sees that there are Imperial sentries at the entrance. Stepping into the shadows for a moment, to decide her next step, she notices a somewhat familiar figure in the crowd. It is the Ubese mercenary who had started the fight in the cantina!
Curious, she thinks as she watches the mercenary. She will wait and see what the Ubese does, and if he is somehow connected with the Imperials or simply moves past them. If she is lucky enough, he lost all his friends and finds himself the sole occupant of his own ship. That would be almost too fortuitous to be true.

When Vlad sees the Imperials at the landing bay, he knows there is going to be trouble.
“Excuse me,” Zavi will say, “do any of these ships ships belong to Rodians? We''re supposed to meet meet them here.”
"If the Ubese called these Imperials here, you just told them you were in the gun fight," Vlad hisses softly, "and by the numbers that you have said, it is safe to say that the bugs were hired here on planet and were not part of the crew; which is a problem because that means that there are at least 4 more armed individuals we have to deal with. Now which ship is his." Vlad looks at the 3 YT-1300 the unloader, the repair or the clam one choices. "Wish you guys could have gotten one of those bugs alive; would have made this part easier. Other ship is looking easier to me more now." Vlad will scan the ships and crowd to see if he can figure out which ship is the one that they need before trouble finds them.

The woman who manages the landing bay docking assignments is easy to find. Once the group has her attention and Zavi asks his question, she sighs briefly and then eventually begins to access her datapad terminal.
Vlad wrote:"If the Ubese called these Imperials here, you just told them you were in the gun fight," Vlad hisses softly, "and by the numbers that you have said, it is safe to say that the bugs were hired here on planet and were not part of the crew; which is a problem because that means that there are at least 4 more armed individuals we have to deal with. The woman stops and looks up briefly, a blank look turning to one of worry. She looks from Vlad to Zavi and back to Vlad. She then begins to start typing on her datapad again.

Vlad is not really able to tell which ship is which from here. They are all versions of YT-1300s which are a very common, highly modifiable craft. The one that has been unloading islarge silver crates and they appear to be finishing up with the process. The one being repaired is being done by service droids and the ship looks old and rusty.

Or possibly hoping to avoid someone. As he gets close to the landing bay, he pulls out some electronic device. Mile'ka cannot see it clearly as his body is blocking it from her view. He pauses for a moment, then moves off back into the crowd and moving to the east.

Kitazza merely looks about as Zavi asks for the Rodians' ship whereabouts. He then hears Vlad's chiding of Zavi, from which he rolls his amber eyes. 'Way to be subtle,' he thinks to himself as he sees the landing bay managers reaction, worry visibly upon her face. Moving calmly towards her and slowly takes 75 credits from his cache, he looks to the manager. Softly he growls, his translator following suit. "You needn't worry miss," sliding the credits toward her. "Just the information and for your discretion. We wouldn't want any imperial entanglements," he says with a smile.

Kitazza continues to look around, his amber eyes being alert for any sign of the remaining crew, if any., as well as any imperials.

Zavi is speaking to dock manager trying to find out which ship belongs to the Rodians by subterfuge.

Now which ship is his."
Zavi turns towards the human, a stunned look on his face as if the human just sprouted a second head! His whiskers twitch unnaturally. He literally just told the dock manager what he accused Zavi of doing! Guess he never conned anyone out of information before.
The woman stops and looks up briefly, a blank look turning to one of worry. She looks from Vlad to Zavi and back to Vlad. She then begins to start typing on her datapad again.
“Yes, the Rodians were were in a gunfight,” Zavi says in a tone reserved for parents scolding their children. “That's why they they hired us for protection.”

Leaning closer to the dock manager, Zavi adds in a slight whisper, “Pay him no mind. Too many blaster blaster hits to the head.”

Kit steps up with his own solution to this very unnecessary complication. Zavi has nothing to add at this point, but will be ready to bolt if the situation goes any further south and Imperials arrive in force.

Vlad knows that his comment was harsh but he also knows that Imperials do not like beating around the bush and how they get info. "Lets find the ship and get out of here, and were in the 9 hells are the other members at?" Vlad will walk away from the dock girl and wait for the others.

The landing bay docking agent at Landing Bay Aurek is a bit surprised by the conversation started by our protagonists. The looks up at the group, worry on her face.
Kit wrote:Moving calmly towards her and slowly takes 75 credits from his cache, he looks to the manager. Softly he growls, his translator following suit. "You needn't worry miss," sliding the credits toward her. "Just the information and for your discretion. We wouldn't want any imperial entanglements," he says with a smile.
The woman takes a step back as the large Wookie moves closer and bares his teeth! But somehow there is a human voice coming from a machine on the furry alien's chest and he holds credits toward her. Tentatively she takes them, but pulls her hand away quickly and stuffs them in a back pocket.

Zavi:

Zavi is speaking to dock manager trying to find out which ship belongs to the Rodians by subterfuge.

Vlad wrote:
"If the Ubese called these Imperials here, you just told them you were in the gun fight," Vlad hisses softly, "and by the numbers that you have said, it is safe to say that the bugs were hired here on planet and were not part of the crew; which is a problem because that means that there are at least 4 more armed individuals we have to deal with. Zavi wrote:“Yes, the Rodians were were in a gunfight,” Zavi says in a tone reserved for parents scolding their children. “That's why they they hired us for protection.” Leaning closer to the dock manager, Zavi adds in a slight whisper, “Pay him no mind. Too many blaster blaster hits to the head.”
The woman looks suspiciously at Vlad as he walks away, then to the two furry and fanged creatures in front of her. Her eyes move between the tall Wookie and the short Squib. "Ah, sort of like crazy Jakob," she says, with a nod and a wink. After a moment, she returns to working her datapad. Eventually she says, "We have three freighters docked currently. One," she indicates pointing at the ship being repaired, "is owned by Trexx, a Trandoshan. That's the Krayt Fang. The one we are nearly finished unloading is the Star Talon. It shows it is owned by a Hutt trader from Nar Shadaa. The last one is registered to a Trans-Galactic Import and Export Company. It doesn't say anything more than that." She pauses for a moment, then leans in and whispers, "If you ever need more information, I can be happy to assist." She then waits for a moment, if there are any other questions and then will go back to her normal duties.

All four keep their eyes open during the exchange warily, watching for signs of trouble, but so far nothing apparently out of the ordinary can be noticed.

Now what?

Kori continues her discussion with the shopkeeper Vorn of Off-World Traders.

“If it happened here, I know about it. “ He pauses a moment. “Or I know someone who does….” He smiles, proud of himself.
Kori wrote:“Really?” Kori says in a mixture of surprise and wonderment. “That is amazing! I never would have guessed that you had that kind of insider knowledge. Or are you just pulling my leg?”
"That's what makes it a such a successful operation," he says with a wink.

GM NOTES:

Players can roleplay their way through encounters or they can use their skills to accomplish the same tasks. Generally, when roleplaying, you will be expected to play to your character and not reference or use knowledge or information that the character would not have.

When using character skills, the player can post that they are attempting to Negotiate or Deceive or Charm or whatever. They then should post some premise or method that is being used to utilize the skill or justify it's use.

Combining them is likely the most effective means of accomplishing a desired task and good RPing will likely give bonuses to skill rolls.

Kitazza

Kitazza looks at the manager as she steps back clearly afraid. Between the common from his translator and the fact he is a rather large Wookie tends to shock. 'I'm gonna have to work at not smiling so people don't think I'll eat them.'

For a moment the large Wookie takes in the information given. And shakes his head slightly, he was hoping for a better outcome; then a thought comes to his mind. "Can you check the other bays? What of an Ubese?" Kitazza will try to recall any call signs or patches on the dead armor. Perhaps there is something they missed.

"We should radio in the transport might be our only option..." He says to Zavi slightly disappointed.

Now what is he up to? Mile'ka ponders. It doesn't seem like the Ubese has any contacts or friends left, at least not in the immediate area. He does, however, seem to be looking for something or someone, and briefly pulls out a.. what?.. a scanner or something that she cannot quite be sure.

As he moves back into what passes for a crowd in this tiny settlement, Mile'ka will wait and see if anyone follows him or looks off in his direction. After another three heartbeats past when anyone tailing him would be forced to begin following to keep up, she casually moves along his route (assuming no one is following him). There are only so many places he can go here, as opposed to a larger city, so she is hardly worried about losing tabs on the Ubese.

Zavi:
Zavi is disappointed in what he hears, but does not show it. Clearly this search for the Rodian ship has just been a waste of time.

“Thank you, ma'am,” the squib will courteously say. “And I'll keep keep that in mind.”

Kit tries to get more information from the woman, but doubts he will find success.

“Agreed,” Zavi states, also a bit disappointed. “I don't don't have a comlink. Make the call. Find out which which bay the transport is in.”

“I guess it does at that,” Kori says in an impressed voice. “May I put that to the test?”

Assuming he does not disagree, Kori will follow up with. “Some dock workers went missing a few nights ago. Do you know anything about that?”

Based on what Vorn has said so far, Kori has a rough idea on what happened, but her guess work only goes so far. Where the men are now for one. Maybe Vorn can fill in the missing pieces.

Kori -

Korianna asks Vorn the Trader about whether he has information on the dock workers that went recently missing. Vorn's eyes narrow as he considers the question, then he smiles a bit leaning back.

"Aha, I know what you are doing. Trying to get free information! Nothing's free in these parts, young lady." He picks up a random part from the counter and turns it about in his hands. After a moment, he looks back at her. "There's a Sullustan that was asking similar questions. Might find him at the cantina or the bunkhouse eventually." He then leans in close and whispers, "This is a favor to your father. But you didn't hear this from me. Imperial Lieutenant Herkin."

He then moves away a bit, tossing the part to Kori. "I have some things to attend to..."

Mile'ka -

Mile’ka watches the Ubese mercenary go near the Landing Bay Aurek and then head further east. The crowd is nowhere near as thick as one of larger cities, but the windy roads and alleys mixed with the scattered crowd does make it just as challenging to follow and keep in view.

The Twi’lek keeps her distance but makes sure to keep the Ubese in view, as best as she can. A few times he slips out of her sight, but she manages to pick him up again as he moves onto a series of rickety wooden platforms, held aloft by giant gas balloons. The whole section of the city is hanging from the northern side of the mesa.

The Ubese cuts behind a small processing plant and (at least temporarily) out of sight.

Pash speaks up, “The transport that Neesa was referring to is back in Landing Bay Besh. That’s why she wanted us to meet there. We never checked out the ship because we were waiting for the rest of you guys to show up.”

The woman looks up again, a quizzical look on her face. “Did you say, an Ubese? You mean, one of those creatures with the mask and the weird voice? “ She doesn’t pause long as her questions are mostly rhetorical. “That creep and I had a run-in when he last landed here.” She looks a bit angry. “He came in on that ship.” She points to the one that she had identified as belonging to the Trans-Galactic Import and Export Company.”

Vlad is going to check the time and see if it is time to meet with the rest. The Ubese hitched a ride, well that is nothing new. Vlad will come back up to the group and ask, "Well now what? Our friends don't seem to be coming and we do have other things that need to be done." Vlad at this point is trying to figure out what in the hell he has gotten himself into. Should have just went to my friend, may have been able to get a ship a little easier. Well live and learn.

Mile'ka is not overly concerned when she loses sight of her quarry a couple of times. After all, this is merely to help pass the time, although she was hoping the Ubese had a ship of his own and was preparing to leave this dust bowl of a planet. They are clearly going the wrong way for that possibility to remain true. Once her target ducks behind a larger building, a processing plant by the looks of it, Mile'ka realizes there are minimal options if she wants to continue to follow.

Making sure she herself is not being tailed, she will weigh her choices quickly. If she can skirt the edge of the building in a wide arc, she will do that to avoid the obvious ambush point at the corner. If that is not possible because of design or terrain, she will move to the corner carefully, trying to perceive if there is any noise coming from where the Ubese disappeared from sight. She will peek low in case someone is expecting a humanoid sized individual turning the corner, her hand on the new blaster pistol she acquired, glancing at it to ensure it is charged enough for at least a few shots should they be needed.

Kitazza
"Fire fights have a way of holding people up," he growls softly to Pash. Turning to Zavi, "I don't have one either," his interpreter wheezing in response.

"It's to hide the ugly." He half smirks trying not to show too much teeth. Kitazza looks to the other ship and a smile slowly etches across his hairy features. "Pash you think he would mind if we borrowed it?" Then looking at the human and the Zavi. "We may have a ride and ship." Kitazza will look back at the dock manager. "Thanks." Then walk toward the ship. Seeing if any bays are open or if there is a command hatch to open it up.
