New Kingdoms #11

Post by GM Fenrir »

Before departing the company of her companions and that of the Queen of Maletar, Stephanie had some choice words and scathing comments, along with a swift fist that left Erizhi stunned momentarily on the floor. The queen regained control of the situation largely in part to the magical talents of Rollester and soon Stephanie was forcibly led out of the secret meeting place by Captain Maletar. Rollester and Torvin also depart as they are apparently needed to manage leaving the locale. The ominous feeling that everyone was being watched by something else slowly begins to subside after things calm down.

After being helped up, Erizhi also tries to defuse the situation with the queen as certainly now the group of adventurers may not appear to be quite what the queen had hoped for when she revealed her designs for them. Erizhi will also note that the pain in her nose has almost vanished completely. It was so subtle that she didn't realize it was happening until just at this moment.
Your Majesty," she will say with a formal curtsey, "again my companions and I apologize for the behavior of that person. From her words, you can clearly see that she was not one of us. The four of us," she indicates herself and her three remaining companions with a sweep of her arm, "are honorable people. All with a reason to be here. I would be most disheartened to witness the mutual benefit of your proposed offer fail to come to fruition. Regretably, this was all quite unseemly." She will bow again slightly and return to stand behind the chair she had occupied, awaiting the command of the Queen to either sit and resume their discussion or to be sent away from her presence.
Queen Aerowyn nods in agreement to Erizhi’s last comment, but then says, “You are wrong on one point, and that is Stephanie was one of you, if only for a short while, and even if her heart wasn’t in it.” She looks to Aesa to make her point given the druid’s reaction to the whole event.

“Sadly, Stephanie had some good concerns, but given the manner she wished to bring them to the floor, I was not allowed to address them,” the queen adds.

Kaelyn also speaks up and attempts to not lose the chance of what the queen was offering.
“Please do not be so quick to judge us, your majesty. We may yet surprise you.” He says evenly though not very loudly, for he knows the queens temper is being pushed by that of the others.
Queen Aerowyn makes a sweeping gesture with her hand, including those of her retinue that are still standing. “Please all, let us be seated again,” she will say. “While what occurred was highly troubling and quite unpleasant, I am not wavering on my decision.” She will wait until everyone has retaken their seats before beginning.

GM Notes: I have removed the following section from the last post thread and put it here. It makes more sense in terms of continuity and also I’m sure most everyone might need a refresher on what the queen had explained and revealed.

“I am very pleased so many of you wish to help our kingdom,” she begins. “I will now tell you a little more about the order. As I stated before, you do not have to answer regularly to anyone and if you choose to not partake in any offered assignments that is perfectly fine. However, you will not be compensated for not doing anything either, as you might imagine.”

“In nearly every village and certainly every town and city in the kingdom there are those who are members of this order,” the Queen reveals. “Here in Dormare of course it is Torvin and the inn. In Taeltell it is Rollester and his mage’s guild. There are others as well that travel the roads or otherwise make no permanent home. So, you might be wondering, how might you seek out aid or information? The answer is simple once you know what to look for.”

The Queen then pulls out a charm that fits easily in her palm and sets it upon the table for all to see. It is of an eagle (see attached image).
eagle of Maletar pendant.jpg
eagle of Maletar pendant.jpg (25.22 KiB) Viewed 20793 times
“The order is called the ‘Eagles of Maletar’ as you are all the keen eyes of the kingdom and, if need be, its talons,” she says. “You however are not soldiers and will lead nor muster in any army. Instead it is my hopes you will strike down evil that threatens any good people of any kingdom, not just this one.”

“This charm is used to identify any other member of the order,” the Queen explains. “It is also added subtly into any building or residence that is a safe haven for members of the order. The next time you are at the bar here see if you can’t find what I mean,” she says with a smile. “Only those who know what to look for would even be aware.”

“Now, you don’t have to wear this charm, but I do ask you have it upon your person in some fashion,” she says. “Some have had a smith hammer it into a sword pommel while others have it tooled on a belt or embroidered inside of a sleeve on a robe. A few have had it tattooed,” the Queen adds while looking at Aesa’s large shoulder tattoo. “Ultimately it is up to you, but it must be available to be in view of others of the order so they may know who they speak to. To be deceitful in this is to violate the trust I am putting in all of you. Depending on how you decide to display this I might be able to directly help, or most certainly put you onto the right path if I can not.”

“What comes after is up to you,” Queen Aerowyn says next. “You are certainly all welcome to enjoy the festival or pursue what you might desire immediately. There are also a number of assignments I can offer in addition to the ones we’ve already touched upon. I would also like to know what type of compensation each of you might be most interested in receiving. This can be done publicly or privately at your desire. Any additional questions may also be asked freely.”

The Queen and the others wait patiently should anyone wish to ask or discuss anything with them. Rollester and the innkeeper are also returning at this point so they can be spoken to as well as they head to retake their seats. Captain Maletar does not return however as his new task will presumably take some time.

Erizhetiana Iltani of Lotan -

With the unseemly actions apparently resolved, Erizhi attempts to defuse the situation with an explanation to the Queen as well as a show of support for her remaining three allies.

The Queen nods in her directions, but disputes one part of the statement, seeming to desire to link Stephanie to them still.

Erizhi grits her teeth and sets her jaw so as not to show her disagreement that Stephanie was EVER really part of the group. 'Semantics," the priestess thinks to herself. 'But no reason to turn this into a further disagreement.'

Eri also looks to Aesa who seemed to be the closest to Stephanie, and who also seemed to show considerable emotion at the fall from grace of her 'friend'. Sadly, the amazon woman did not seem to return the same feelings, essentially accusing the northerner of being inhuman and deceitful.

Erizhi will smile slightly and take her seat along with the others. By this time she has actually taken notice that the pain in her nose and face has completely subsided. She touches her nose gingerly at first to test it, but it seems to have 'healed'. Perhaps it is the result of the same feeling of envigorment that she felt earlier.

The Queen explains about her order, the Eagles of Maletar. Interesting that a lioness of Ishtar is now also an eagle of a foreign land. Erizhi wonders if Ishatr forsaw this development at all and why she was chosen for this task, or if this is all some bizarre coincidence.

Erizhi has a few questions on her mind, when the Queen addresses the subject. "Majesty, this 'place' is certainly one of palpable magicks. There is a vitality in the air that certainly each of us has felt. May I inquire as to where we are? Without question we are not in the courtyard of the inn. Not directly anyway."

Sir Rovach

Waiting until Stephanie is led out of the area by the Captain, and the Ranger (with her bear companion) has return to her seat, Sir Rovach will then walk over to where he left his helmet and retrieve it. Lady Erizhetiana and Mister Kaelyn proceed to converse with the Queen about the actions of their group, and the participation of Lady Stephanie. He will listen to this as he proceeds over to his seat. Different views for different people, he will think to himself. I must remember this when I am in a different land. The differences of other cultures can not only be obvious but also very subtle. He will continue to listen to the Queen's offer, during which making no remarks of his own until she is finished (unless directly asked by her or another). He will watch the expressions of the others during her expaination, but still attempt to avoid eye contact with Lady Aesa.

After hearing the Queen tell them about the charm and ask what kind of compensation each individual might be interested in, an answer seems to pop into his mind almost automatically: the pommel of his sword would be a perfect place for such a symbol at this time. Once he felt he was worthy of displaying his own, perhaps adding it to his coat of arms one day? Yet, that time seems stil like a long way off when he would be ready for that. And still, who knows what the future would bring. As for compensation, this is something he would bring up privately with the Queen when the opportunity arose. It wouldn't be proper to ask for such openly.
“What comes after is up to you,” Queen Aerowyn says next. “You are certainly all welcome to enjoy the festival or pursue what you might desire immediately. There are also a number of assignments I can offer in addition to the ones we’ve already touched upon.
"I think this would need to be decided by the group as a whole, your Majesty." Sir Rovach will reply to he offer of assignments. "There seems to be quite a few opportunities available for us to do good in this world. Please tell us what other assignments are available so we might make a more informed decision, your Majesty, and determine where we may have the best impact."

GM Notes: Anyone who wishes to discuss in private what they are interested in receiving for compensation for joining the queen’s order can PM or email me to make things easier if you have not already done so. It can be RP’ed out or simply just let me know what your character is after.

Erizhi -
Erizhi has a few questions on her mind, when the Queen addresses the subject. "Majesty, this 'place' is certainly one of palpable magicks. There is a vitality in the air that certainly each of us has felt. May I inquire as to where we are? Without question we are not in the courtyard of the inn. Not directly anyway."
The queen smiles and replies with a question, “Are you so certain?” She continues before it can possibly be answered, “It might be best to let our good innkeeper explain what he wishes on the matter.” With that she motions to Torvin who was just returning.

The innkeeper also smiles and turns to respond to Erizhi while including the others in his answer. “We are indeed still within the courtyard,” he insists. “I have made special arrangements to make use of this place,” he says, using his arms to indicate the whole of the area everyone is in. “I shall not betray the trust that was given me by providing more than that cryptic response however,” he adds.

“The effects you have all felt are one of the many benefits bestowed here. You will find that you will most likely not need sleep once we depart despite the lengthy day all of you have had,” the innkeeper does explain. “It is how I am always seemingly tending bar,” he adds with a wry smile.

Sir Rovach -
"I think this would need to be decided by the group as a whole, your Majesty." Sir Rovach will reply to he offer of assignments. "There seems to be quite a few opportunities available for us to do good in this world. Please tell us what other assignments are available so we might make a more informed decision, your Majesty, and determine where we may have the best impact."
“Very well,” Queen Aerowyn replies pleasantly. “Besides the reports of the dark ranger mentioned earlier and further investigating the plot you uncovered today there are three other occurrences that need attention at this time.”

“First is something that is actually affecting our neighbors in Baravain,” she begins. “Reports of a fog rolling in from the Shimmering Sea and moving up the Blue Mist River have been occurring during the predawn hours. Each night the fog moves further upriver. It recedes by the time the sun has broken the horizon and in its wake at first was only devastated coastal vegetation. Almost two weeks ago it reached the farmland and fishing community outside of Camberie and left withered crops, destroyed boats, slain livestock and a few deaths. If it continues the same course, it will reach the riverside village of Kalsur within eight days. The first group of adventurers that investigated have not been heard from and Baravain is missing several of their soldiers assigned to investigate as well.”

The queen takes a brief pause before continuing. “Secondly there have been reports from the village of Tantwell that they have seen movement and lights coming from the ancient temple grounds to the southeast of that village. Occasionally a priest or adventurer will explore the temple since it is from a time when even the Akorian Empire was young, but everything of value has long been removed or decayed away. My first thought is that it is being used as a staging area for this wicked plot just recently uncovered, however patrols through the area over the last ten-day have encountered nothing.”

“Lastly, our elven neighbors have told us that there is a group of humanoids that are operating along the Maletar-Daeyshir border that have been harassing the wood and high elves,” the queen next says. “Of late they have raided the elven community of Aelfahr as well as slain several wood elf patrols. Elven scouts have tracked them moving south and they could possibly hit Dormare or even Eversen next.”

Aesa:

Aesa said her goodbyes to Stephanie even though the fellow warrior woman couldn’t hear her. It still doesn’t feel right. Aesa understands the queen’s verdict but that won’t help figure out what Stephanie is trying to deal with. Clearly she never trusted any of us, Aesa thinks, but that isn’t the feeling she received from Stephanie when she first arrived in Dormare. We were both in the arms tournament and shared some time at the inn and even a room, she reminisces. There is something more troubling going on here.
Stephanie had more reason to be here than any of the rest of us, Aesa counters mentally. She continues to think about all that has occurred and she remembers the individual that knew Erizhi at the farm and how the others expressed the desire to get more information from their priestess, but it has yet to happen. Now she tries to distance herself as far from Stephanie as possible to continue her own agenda, Aesa thinks, much like she would probably act towards the prospect of digging through the dirt to plant a tree.
Aesa returns the look and tries to judge what Erizhi is thinking. “Thinking on how to next get rid of me?” Aesa will say. “I will save you the trouble.”

Aesa turns to the queen who has motioned all to return to their seats. “I am sorry, Your Majesty,” she says. “I understand your decree but I do not believe that it will help the woman who has been nothing but a hero for these good folk of Dormare and the surrounding countryside. I believe your offer to be genuine and that you seek to help your kingdom, and maybe this is the best way to do so. I can not know. I do know that I will not be partaking in such at this time, I must see to Stephanie.”

She will turn to Kaelyn, “Goodbye and fare well. Find Buchard and end this. If I am able when you do, then I shall stand with you, if not then maybe we shall meet again at some other time.”

She turns next to Sir Rovach who seems to be having difficulty even looking at her. I can not aid his troubles and ensure Stephanie is well at the same time, she thinks sadly. Aesa will touch Sir Rovach’s arm lightly and then move on.

Aesa will not give Erizhi anything further to manipulate to her desires and instead hurry to catch up with Rollester and the good innkeeper so they may escort her from this magnificent place. Of all the things she has seen so far upon leaving her homeland, this one she will miss the most.
That which must be done will be done.

Erizhetiana Iltani of Lotan -

The Queen answers Erizhi's question about where they are with one of her own.

“Are you so certain?” She continues before it can possibly be answered, “It might be best to let our good innkeeper explain what he wishes on the matter.” With that she motions to Torvin who was just returning.

"Yes, I believe that I understand what you are saying to a degree. And that is what I meant by saying that we are 'not directly' within the courtyard. Perhaps technically, but then that is just semantics, no?"

Erizhi considers the charm in the shape of the eagle. It would be easy enough to incorporate into a piece of her jewelry. Perhaps it would be ironic to add to one of the ankle bracelets locked on her by her brothers, she thinks.

Rovach had asked about the other tasks which currently existed and the Queen lists a few. Erizhi's attention is particularly drawn to that of the temple grounds. If it is from ancient Akorian times, there is bound to be something of interest there. "I, for one, find the investigation of the temple to be quite enticing. And if it is in fact a staging ground for a plot against the Queen, then that is of supreme importance. What say the rest of you?"

When Erizhi turns to look at Aesa, she responds in a very unexpected manner.

Aesa returns the look and tries to judge what Erizhi is thinking. “Thinking on how to next get rid of me?” Aesa will say. “I will save you the trouble.”

Once more, Erizhi finds herself with her mouth agape for a moment. "Excuse me?" she will say, incredulously. Erizhi cannot help but wonder what has gotten in to everyone and looks around at everyone else questioningly as the northern barbarian changes her mind before the queen and then offers her goodbyes. Erizhi will lean back in her chair for a moment, still somewhat incredulous at this development, but decides there is nothing to be done about it. When Aesa specifically leaves her out of the good-byes, Erizhi will say, "I must commend you on your loyalty to one who clearly distrusts you, even this day. I think your choice is severely misplaced, but that is now a decision you shall have to live with. Fare well." The priestess will turn away, not expecting any more answer from the druidess and wondering who is going to be the next to surprise her.

Everyone else seems quiet for a moment. Silently, Erizhi wonders while the situation with Stephanie did not ruin their chances with the Queen, if this might tip the scales. Not wanting to show any distress or concern, Erizhi will refill her glass with water and take a long drink. She had planned to discuss the reward aspect of this arrangement with the Queen more in private, but now seems not the right moment to bring that up.

Things have calmed down considerably once the Queen intervened. Stephanie has been led out, and shortly after one of the other women gets up and departs. There seems to be quite the mistrust with this one known as Erizhi, Redjak thinks as he retakes his seat and listens to the Queen explain about the Eagles of Maletar. Of course, he and Zarya already had a little foresight into all of this upon their arrival to this kingdom's shores. Still it is good to learn all of the details and that the Queen truly doesn't seem to be wanting them to be spies or an auxiliary military unit. The Queen also says that all the members are identified with an eagle charm:

“Now, you don’t have to wear this charm, but I do ask you have it upon your person in some fashion,” she says.

I can easily have it worked into the tooling on my quiver, Redjak thinks. Straightforward enough to believe an eagle to be an apt design on such an item.

Sir Rovach proclaims he is interested in just what tasks may be facing this kingdom. He can't help but glance at Zarya when the Queen explains what is troubling the neighboring kingdom of Baravain. It sounds eerily familiar to some of our own troubles, Redjak thinks grimly. The priestess, Erizhi, is the first to speak up:

Rovach had asked about the other tasks which currently existed and the Queen lists a few. Erizhi's attention is particularly drawn to that of the temple grounds. If it is from ancient Akorian times, there is bound to be something of interest there. "I, for one, find the investigation of the temple to be quite enticing. And if it is in fact a staging ground for a plot against the Queen, then that is of supreme importance. What say the rest of you?"

"I would agree an investigation of the temple to be paramount," Redjak replies. "That or the encroaching humanoids pose the most immediate threat to Maletar and its people. Personally however, the situation in Baravain is most troubling as it almost mirrors something we endured in the Greyson Isles not that long past."

He will lean back deeper into his chair and look to Sir Rovach, as he is most curious to see what the paladin's thoughts on these matters are.
For our family, our people, our kingdom, we will prevail!

Kaelyn
Taking his seat when the Queen gestures, Kaelyn listens to her words. Soon she speaks of a pendant of an eagle causing his thoughts to where to put it on his person, perhaps beneath my belt? He thinks to himself.

Soon Sir Rovach speaks of what other missions might be available. But soon Aesa speaks up catching the thief mage off guard.

She will turn to Kaelyn, “Goodbye and fare well. Find Buchard and end this. If I am able when you do, then I shall stand with you, if not then maybe we shall meet again at some other time.”

“Goodbye, Aesa,” he says solemnly. “ I will see it through. It would be my pleasure to stand with you, gods willing,” he says with a smile. “Until that day.” He watches the druidess leave, then looks to the others, in disbelief asking is this the end of their ragtag band?

“The problems in which you speak are curious.” Lights within ruins? Dissappearances? These are not things to be taken lightly though the maurading humanoids effecting the elves and possibly the very town they are in strikes his interest and he asks, “ Have the elves any clue as to what matter of humanoids maybe doing this act?”

Sir Rovach

Sir Rovach listens to the Queen's response on possible assignments they could take on in her service. But before he has much time to think about each one, Lady Aesa makes a startling statement.
Aesa returns the look and tries to judge what Erizhi is thinking. “Thinking on how to next get rid of me?” Aesa will say. “I will save you the trouble.”
She turns next to Sir Rovach who seems to be having difficulty even looking at her.
Sir Rovach was ashamed of himself; not that he thought his actions were previously wrong but that he had caused a Lady some distress, which he would never want to do. And then Lady Aesa declares that she will be leaving the group and help Stephanie, mainly because of her distrust of Lady Erizhetiana. Circumstances that this are the bane of us all; distrust of each other because of culture and worrying about ourselves, not realizing that our neighbors problems will be come ours if ignored. This is why Buchard and whatever allies he may have are able to get away with what they can. "Are you sure about this, dear Lady?" He will ask as she leaves, but not really expecting an answer in return.

Following this, the others proceed to give their thoughts and feelings around what quests they should take on next. At this point, Sir Rovach will speak up and give his opinions on the matter.

Standing up, Sir Rovach will begin. "Of all the possible assignments before us, obviously some are more pressing then others. Some we have personal interests in, and some might be handled by local forces. Some might be addressed rather quickly, others might take years. Then what should we choose and where shall we go?"

"We had spoken earlier tonight about a Basilisk that threatens the village nearby. We also came upon one who's brothers were recently slain by this beast. While my heart years to test myself against such a foe, it does not seem very pressing to the area as a whole as long as steps are taking to have people avoid it's lair and hunting grounds. We can always come back to this matter if the danger of this creature escalates."

"We have the foul villian Buchard, and those who he has allied with, to look into. I have a personal interest in this: the souls of the Makkee's cry out for justice and I am concerned who amongst my own people would help him in this foul plot. However, while this is a danger to both our realms, it is not immediate and can possibly be investigated as we pursue other missions in the area. The same can also be said about this Dark Ranger we have been told about; actively pursue another assignment while keeping our ears & eyes open about them."

He will smile at this point. "The adventurer in me would love the opportunity to investigate ancient Akkorian ruins. The ruins of our forefathers, and what secrets they may hold, is of high personal interest to me. But I must be honest with everyone: this is purely selfish of me for I see another far more pressing need for us."

He will pause, look toward Sir Redjak and nod his head. Then he will continue. "These humanoids seem to be directly and immediately threatening this area of Maletar. Indeed, while we will surely move on in the future, I see this area for now as a base for us at this time as we branch out further afield in our travels. So I would recommend we address the issue of the humanoids first and take care of matters close to home." He will smile again. "But I will not be opposed to exploring the Akkorian ruins or pursuing the matter of justice with Buchard & his allies if that is what the group wants."

"I respect everyones opinion here, but if the choice is between the Akkorian ruins or the hunanoids? Then I say the humanoids first." He will bow to his companions and then take his seat again.

More voices rise to answer the call of the threats facing Maletar. They are almost unanimous in their desires:

“The problems in which you speak are curious.” Lights within ruins? Dissappearances? These are not things to be taken lightly though the maurading humanoids effecting the elves and possibly the very town they are in strikes his interest and he asks, “ Have the elves any clue as to what matter of humanoids maybe doing this act?”

"I respect everyones opinion here, but if the choice is between the Akkorian ruins or the hunanoids? Then I say the humanoids first." He will bow to his companions and then take his seat again.

"I would concur," Sir Redjak says. "These humanoids seem to possess the immediate and quickest potential to widen the fear and destruction they have already sown." He too will look to see if the Queen or one of her advisors has more information on this marauding band, but not before adding a comment to Sir Rovach, "Perhaps we may even be able to deal with this basilisk of yours if the tasks lie in the same direction."

It would seem that Aesa has had a change of heart. She addresses Queen Aerowyn and most of her former companions before departing.
The Queen regards the druidess for a moment and then gives just the slightest on nods before saying, “Go then to your friend.” She, and several of the others in the company of the Queen, watch her depart before returning to explain the Eagles of Maletar and the role of all present.

At Sir Rovach’s request, Queen Aerowyn offers up several tasks that are pressing in addition to the ones already laid out before them. Nearly all of the adventurers agree that confronting the band of humanoids should take immediate precedence.
The Morthauris twins having been quite so far suddenly break their silence, "While we live far from here it is our goal to defend the lands of all Elves, pray tell inform us of these humanoid marauders that are despoiling elven lands, then we must away to destroy this menace."
“Allow me to defer to one with more information on this,” the Queen says and motions towards Maldos Goldenmane, indicating he should reveal what he knows.

Keeping an unreadable expression firmly in place, Maldos speaks from his chair. While his manner is all business, his voice still carries the lightness of the elves and could be quite persuasive if he were to bend it to such.

“These humanoids we believe are remnants from the orcish horde that was driven north out of the Deep Wood many, many years ago,” he begins. “In addition, our scouts have reported tracks that are clearly goblinoid as well as some wolves. Orcs and goblins both use wolves for sentries and war while the smaller of the pair of races will use them as mounts on occasion. There are a handful of booted tracks that we assume are orcish war band leaders but could also be something else entirely.”

“Their number is uncertain but while the common folk and others who have survived lay claim that their ranks are in the hundreds, these ‘observations’ can not be trusted,” Maldos continues dryly. “It is my belief they may be a score in number, although possibly closer to a dozen with two or three mangy wolves tagging along for scraps of fresh kills the band makes. Regardless, they despoil the forest by their very presence and threaten both of our peoples,” he says, indicating the Queen. “It would be well received if you all dispatched these brigands with utmost haste.”

...but not before adding a comment to Sir Rovach, "Perhaps we may even be able to deal with this basilisk of yours if the tasks lie in the same direction."
Sir Rovach brightens up when he hears Sir Redjak's comment to him. He is looking forward to fighting side-by-side with this good Knight in their stand against the darkness of this land. "Indeed, Sir Redjak, that would be most fortuitous. The opportunity to help the communities on the Maletar-Daeyshir border, prevent a possible raid on Dormare, perhaps have our actions strengthen ties with our elven neighbors, and finally a chance to test our mettle against this cold-blooded beast that preys on the citizens of Dormare. " He will grin to the good Knight. "Count me in."

The elves (or rather one of them) speak up first about the humanoid marauders on the border. That is not surprising, the priestess thinks to herself.

Then Redjak, Kaelyn and Rovach all seem to agree that the raiders are the most important threat initially. The Queen's advisor, Maldos, gives some additional explanation regarding the expected make-up and number. If he is right then this may be a minor challenge at best. However, if the number is closer to a hundred or more that the observers had claimed, they would be in for a series of fights.

Erizhi is a little disappointed as the Akorian ruins are clearly far more interesting. However, there is the matter of gaining the Queen's further trust and a united front is important at this time. "Those humanoids will barely have time to rue the day that they have made enemies of us. We will eradicate their stench from the face of this land," Erizhi says simply. This will at least be a chance to practice her craft. As a priestess of the Goddess of War, a battle of this size is something that Ishtar would approve of! "When do we depart?"

Erizhi will also wish to discuss the Queen's terms of compensation in private. (Look for PM to follow.)

Seemingly everyone has come to agreement with the decision to pursue the humanoids that have been harassing and raiding the Deep Wood and its elven inhabitants and have now seemingly turned south and west to threaten the kingdom of Maletar. They have been given the information on this band to be had by Maldos Goldenmane and now more then a few of the group sound eager to depart.

“Very well,” Queen Aerowyn says smiling pleasantly and nods to Rollester.

The mage and guild master manages to find his feet and retrieves a pouch from its place on his belt. He fishes out enough eagle charms for the entire group and sets them on the table.

“Please each take one,” the queen instructs. “There are a few craftsman staying at the inn or that reside here in the village that Torvin knows and can get you together with. I also have a seamstress with the pattern in my retinue that can embroider the eagle onto whatever you wish should you choose that route to honor your commitment. If none of these are the fit you are looking for, we have magical options at our disposal or can discuss it further.”

“If there is anything else you wish to discuss with any of us, please come forward and we can do so now,” she adds. “Otherwise this meeting is adjourned and all of you may return to your rooms or however you wish to spend the remainder of this night.”

GM Notes: I have received several PMs in addressing the queen and her offered rewards so far. Those conversations will take place during this time along with anyone else who has yet to do so.

The innkeeper will address the group once everyone appears they have nothing further to say and are ready to go. “You will all find you may not need much sleep for the remainder of tonight. That is perfectly normal and is an added boon. You will also find very little time has actually passed when we return to the inn as compared to what has gone on now. It is just the way things work while here.”

Once everyone is ready, the innkeeper and Rollester will lead everyone out much the same way all had arrived. Dareos will leave with the group, but Maledos and the queen make no move to depart at this time.

GM Notes: The four new characters are paired up in semi-private rooms should there be the desire for such. Arrangements were made prior to the start of the spring festival, so despite the crowds their rooms were guaranteed. It is completely up to the group if they wish to sleep at all or begin a new adventure immediately.

Additionally, experience points will be given out to the original group (about time I know!). :D Please see the separate thread for those!

With the decision made to oppose and remove the humanoids from the border, the Queen ends the group meeting.

Rollester produces a pouch and dumps a number of eagle charms onto the table.

Erizhi will wait for the others to reach for a charm first, then will take one for herself. She will consider it for a moment, turning it in her fingers and considering a deep thought. She will then tuck it into a fold of her clothing to make sure she does not lose it.

“If there is anything else you wish to discuss with any of us, please come forward and we can do so now,” she adds. “Otherwise this meeting is adjourned and all of you may return to your rooms or however you wish to spend the remainder of this night.”

Erizhi will come forward and wish to discuss the arrangements with the Queen in as much privacy as possible. (See PM.)

Once all is completed, Torvin explains that the rejuvenative powers of this place will also render them not needing sleep. Erizhi will ask Master Torvin about a recommendation for a jeweler. Someone who could perhaps attach the charm to an existing piece of her jewelry collection or else to maybe engrave or etch the design onto something she wears.

While it is still early in the morning and not much can be accomplished then, Eri will return to her room to pray and recover her spells. She will then relax if possible and wait until a more normal time for breakfast to descend down to the inn.

Sir Rovach picks up one of the charms presented to his companions, studying it and turning it over in his hands. "My thanks for presenting these to us", he says to Rollester and the Queen. Bowing his head towards the Queen, he will add "I will do my best to bring honor to this cause."

Addressing both the companions and Innkeeper Torvin. "As much as my heart wishes to pursue these humaniods immediately, I'm sure we all have a few things to do before we leave. For myself, I currently wish to check up on young Raile, to make sure all is as well with him. Then, once the shops are open, I will look into having this charm placed upon my sword hilt. And, while I don't want tp intrude upon the sorrow of the Makkee tragedy, I will inquire with Sir Gorvin about the reward assigned to his posting. We can then divide up the coin when we meet. If that works for everyone, perhaps we may spend a day preparing for our assignment and leave on the morning of the following day?" Sir Rovach will wait to hear what the other companions have to say, answering any comments they may have, before turning to address Sir Torvin.

Turning to the Innkeeper, Sir Rovach will ask before leaving to check up on young Raile, "Do you know a smith who may place this upon my hilt, Good Sir?"

Redjak will stand and collect two of the charms, setting one in front of Zarya while he regards the one he took for himself. This will fit nicely on my quiver he thinks, smiling slightly. He then listens to Sir Rovach's proposal about waiting another full day before departing.

Addressing both the companions and Innkeeper Torvin. "As much as my heart wishes to pursue these humaniods immediately, I'm sure we all have a few things to do before we leave. "While we don't have any reason to delay our departure," Redjak says indicating himself and Lady Zarya, "I do understand there are things you and your companions need to complete. A day will give us time to see about fastening our charms as well as a chance to take in a bit of this festival. Perhaps for those who can make it, an evening meal together here at the inn would be appropriate? A chance for all to truly meet one another and go over any details we wish at that point. Say, sunset? Lasting until we wish to retire for the evening?"

Redjak will listen attentively to whomever is recommended for these tasks. He isn't quite sure which option may be more appealing to Zarya, but he does have a few thoughts. Once all are ready to depart, Redjak will accompany Lady Zarya back to their room. Depending on the time of night it still is, there may be a chance for some rest after they privately discuss a few things.

A number of the adventurers begin to ask the innkeeper of people he may know of that can help them turn the eagle charms into something more desirable.
“There is a jeweler that is visiting for the Spring Festival,” the innkeeper replies. “She is a half-elven woman named Gaeldra. If you miss her for her blond hair and elven features, you certainly can’t miss her human bodyguard,” he adds with some mirth.
Turning to the Innkeeper, Sir Rovach will ask before leaving to check up on young Raile, "Do you know a smith who may place this upon my hilt, Good Sir?"
“Jalvin, the local blacksmith can probably help,” the innkeeper says. “Although if you want fancier work, you probably want to seek out Master Gerdenbar. He is a gruff old dwarf that just arrived this evening and probably doesn’t have his portable forge set up yet. If you’re interested, you better let me introduce you to him given his disposition,” he says chuckling.

Once everyone is ready they will be led outside in the same manner as their arrival. True to the innkeeper’s word, it would seem as though little time has passed. The sun has still yet to even begin to break the horizon, looking to be a good two hours off minimum. There is little in the way of remaining patrons and even less in the way of staff about at this hour. Still, if someone desires something to break their fast, it can be ordered, and there are more then enough empty tables to be had.

"An excellent idea, Sir Redjak". Sir Rovach responds to the Knight's suggestion for an evening meal as a group. "Barring any unknown complications, I will be there and look forward to dining with you & the Lady."

If there are no further comments or questions, Sir Rovach will then proceed back to the Inn and see what young Raile has been up to during their meeting ("Hopefully sleeping after his meal" Sir Rovach thinks to himself as he leaves).

Erizhetiana Iltani of Lotan -

Rovach suggests that the group have a day for tying up loose ends and such.

If that works for everyone, perhaps we may spend a day preparing for our assignment and leave on the morning of the following day?"

"A fine idea," Erizhi will offer. "It may give us more time to prepare and ready ourselves. The marauders will still be waiting even one more day hence."

The knight from the southern islands hen suggest meeting for a group meal.

"Splendid," Erizhi answers. "A chance to learn a bit about each other over a meal may help to alleviate some of the hostilities that remained under the surface with several of our former 'allies'. The inn certainly provides a magnificent selection of meals. Master Torvin, is it possible to reserve a private room for such a meeting and meal in the evening?", she will ask.

When Eri asks the innkeeper about a jeweler to vist, he suggests one who is visting the fair.

“There is a jeweler that is visiting for the Spring Festival,” the innkeeper replies. “She is a half-elven woman named Gaeldra. If you miss her for her blond hair and elven features, you certainly can’t miss her human bodyguard,” he adds with some mirth.

She smiles, not knowing exactly what he is refering to, but guessing that this guard is a notable individual of considerable size or some other blatant feature.

After speaking briefly with the Queen in a few indefinite exchanges, Erizhi is ready to depart back out of their 'pocket dimension'. She will say her goodbyes to the rest of those assembled and then return to her room to change her clothes and freshen herself from the long day. She will complete her morning prayers and spend some extra time in meditation since she has it, as well as praying for the replenishment of her prayers and studying her tome of magicks. When the normal morning hours arrive, she will descend down to the inn to order a breakfast, sharing the time with any of the group who may be present. On the way down, she spots someone who seems vaguely familiar leaving the inn, but the priestess cannot see them because of their cloak. Erizhi considers for a moment, a frown forming on her features, then let's the thought pass as there is no way to tell if it was who she thought.

After breakfast, she will wander the area of the festival, taking a chance to sample some of the cakes and sweets that are for sale and stopping to watch the occassional street performer or browse the goods of a merchant that catches her eye. Eventually she will come to the jeweler that Torvin indicated. She is fairly certain of this by the presence of a large man in black leather. Erizhi will drift among the cases, casually glancing at the wares until she gets the attention of the blonde elfin woman. "Good morning," the priestess will say with a slight bow. "I was referred to you as one who would be most able to help me with a 'project'. I am looking to have a charm added to a piece of my jewelry or perhaps to something new. Or alternatively, to have the design engraved onto one of my anklets. I would prefer the more subtle option and would like to hear your suggestions of what could be done and the price." Erizhi will produce the eagle charm from her beltpurse and show it in a slightly concealed manner, in case anyone is watching or being nosy, but without being obvious. "What do you think?' she will query.

The meeting with the Queen has broken up and everyone talks a bit more before being led back out into the inner courtyard of the inn. As people finish up their conversations, a few have questions for the innkeeper.

Sir Rovach -
"You have my thanks. And please, Master Torvin, I would be honored if you would introduce me to Master Gerdenbar. If you have the time early enough today, that is." Sir Rovach will respond with a a bow of head. "In the meantime, I will check up on young Raile. Perhaps I can meet you downstairs after the breakfast rush?" If there are no further comments or questions, Sir Rovach will then proceed back to the Inn and see what young Raile has been up to during their meeting ("Hopefully sleeping after his meal" Sir Rovach thinks to himself as he leaves).
“I certainly can,” the innkeeper says. “Sometime after his morning ales would probably be safest. Meet me whenever you are ready but before the midday meal. I believe I will be quite busy then.”

Sir Rovach will see there are only a few patrons left in the main and common rooms of the inn. He is still surprised though at how differently time has passed as it surely seems as though these patrons are doing exactly what they were before the meeting with the Queen.

The paladin finds Raile curled up in one of the larger chairs set near the massive fireplace. He is wearing fresh clothes and, although these too have seen some wear, he is far cleaner then he was prior. Raile stirs a bit as the armored Sir Rovach moves in and blinks his sleepy eyes. Upon seeing him, Raile sits up.

“I, I wasn’t sleeping,” he starts, but then he scrunches his face and changes his response. “I mean I didn’t mean to sleep. I waited, but the meal and that cider was so good! That must have been what made me sleepy.”

Erizhi -
Splendid," Erizhi answers.
“Certainly,” Torvin replies. “We have several others that have expressed similar desires, but you are all welcome to the room you shared earlier with the Captain if that will suit your purposes.”
The morning meal choices are quite extensive, ranging from eggs, fresh bread, fruits, ham, porridge as well as a few delicacies such as nut muffins and spiced teas. Once outside, a few copper can easily purchase a pastry or three and Erizhi can see the marketplace is fully awake and teeming with people. More carts are arriving although the priestess wonders just where all of these people might possibly fit. It isn’t hard to imagine that many will be spilling out into the countryside just to have ample room.

Erizhi feels the presence of probing eyes as she spots Gaeldra. She sees the bodyguard who is sizing her up and he is quite an intimidating figure. He seems to sense your training and regards you seriously. Gaeldra however is much more pleasant.

Her eyebrows raise when Erizhi mentions a “project” and will take the charm from the priestess if allowed to so she may look it over. A moment passes and then she replies with a smile, “I most certainly can either add this or craft something new to complement it’s work. It is a fairly popular design in this part of the continent,” she adds casually.

“My question to you is how quickly you would want the work done?” Gaeldra probes. “I could add it to whatever you already wear while you wait. A new piece could be retrieved tonight or on the morrow depending on the intricacy of design you desire.”

“I could also manage an engraving, but that would hardly be as melodious as adding the actual charm to your ensemble, would it?” she adds with a knowing smile.

"An excellent idea, Lady Erizhetiana." Sir Rovach will respond to her suggestion to get to know everyone during the forthcoming evening meal. "It can also give us a chance to know where each others skills are and what each of us excels in. If we are to go into combat against goblins and their ilk, working together and knowing each others strengths can only help us in working together as one."

Sir Rovach looks around the inn and soon discovers the fate of young Raile; he is curled up asleep in a large, comfortable-looking chair near the fireplace. Good, he's getting some rest after all. Sir Rovach approaches young Raile with the intent to gently awaken him when the young boy awakens on his own, somehow sensing him moving towards him.
"It's alright, young Raile. Sleep is necessary for us all. And you had quite a day yourself. I am sorry to have awaken you, but I wanted to see how you are faring. The meeting I was part of is now over. Come. It is still a few hours before dawn. I am not tired and do not need sleep at this time. However, you may make use of my room here at the inn to sleep a few more hours before daybreak." Sir Rovach will then show Raile to his room, letting him try to sleep for a few more hours. Sir Rovach will attempt to remove his armor and clean it as quietly as he can in his room so as not to awaken Raile again. After this he will follow-up with his prayers to Anu, thanking him for allowing him the opportunity to help others this previous day, for the safe return of his companions, and to ask him for the wisdom to act properly this next day.

When the sun rises, Sir Rovach will wear a fresh set of cloths and don his armor & weapons once again. He will wake young Raile up, if he isn't already, and once he is ready they will proceed downstairs for breakfast. If they come across any of the other companions, he will invite them to breakfast with them as well.

Once breakfast is ordered and coins exchanged, Sir Rovach will speak with Raile again. "So today I thought we would start by visiting Sir Gorvin. Afterwards, we will return here and speak with Master Torvin who will introduce us to someone I wish to pay for a service."

He will pause, trying to read Raile's face as he tells him this. If Raile has no questions, he will then continue. "Yesterday, you inquired about becoming my squire. I have no doubt you were serious, but it may not be your path in life. Today as you meet my other companions, and especially tonight at dinner, I want you to watch them. Here in town, ask them any questions you may have. They are good people and you may find your true profession to be like theirs. At the least, it can only broaden your knowledge of others and their ways."

Sir Rovach will rise from the table once their breakfast is done, leaving behind a few silvers on the table for a tip. "Shall we be off to Sir Gorvin's then? On the way I would ask you to tell me about yourself. Specifically, I would like to know what you are good at. Is there anything you have found yourself particularly good at? Areas you excel in, above and beyond those of your brothers and friends?" Sir Rovach will then leave the inn with Raile, proceeding to Sir Gorvin's office and listening to whatever answers young Raile may have.

Erizhetiana Iltani of Lotan -

Erizhi asks the innkeeper about a room for the gathering that Sir Redjak suggested.

“Certainly,” Torvin replies. “We have several others that have expressed similar desires, but you are all welcome to the room you shared earlier with the Captain if that will suit your purposes.”

"I think that should do just fine," the priestess replies. "There are fewer of us than previously, so space will not be an issue and the privacy is quite appreciated."

Erizhi smiles briefly. "I for one would like to avoid the situation that developed on the previous excursion. It was not readily apparent that... several... of our companions were actually harboring such deep-seated animosities. There was also no organization or coordination between people, as we were unaware of what each was capable of and what their fighting styles were. I recommend that we nominate a leader for combat situations, at the least. That way everyone will have some form of direction and not just rush about with no sense of tactics. We were lucky there were no casualties at the farm. I doubt these humanoids raiders will be such an easy foe."

-----------------------

At breakfast, Erizhi will sample various foods as she has been wont to do, especially enjoying the fruits and porridge and taking a nut muffin with her to snack on as she wandered the morning streets. She meanders about, keeping an eye for the jeweler that Torvin mentioned, but also browsing as she goes, tasting some other treats. She is just finishing an apple sweetcake as she sees Gaeldra's booth. The large foreboding guard seems to focus in on her, despite the presence of other passersby and customers. She will glance at him and smile briefly, then continue looking until the jeweler herself steps up.

Eri smiles as the woman raises her eyebrows. Presenting the eagle charm from her belt purse, Gaeldra opens her hands and Erizhi places the charm into her palm. She looks it over curiously for a moment.

A moment passes and then she replies with a smile, “I most certainly can either add this or craft something new to complement it’s work. It is a fairly popular design in this part of the continent,” she adds casually.

"I was told that it has some significance to the area, hence my interest in adding it to my 'collection'. It was presented to me as a gift." Erizhi will look around nonchalantly to see if there is any such similar marking about the woman or the stall. She is curious if this woman is one of their network or just one who does fine craft.

“My question to you is how quickly you would want the work done?” Gaeldra probes. “I could add it to whatever you already wear while you wait. A new piece could be retrieved tonight or on the morrow depending on the intricacy of design you desire.”

"I would prefer to complete the process by this evening, as my friends and I will be leaving the town on the morrow and may be gone for several days. Hopefully not long, but the business in question is somewhat 'open-ended', if you catch my meaning." Erizhi will consider for a moment. "If the charm will be used as is, then I would quite like a new piece certainly," she says with a smile.

“I could also manage an engraving, but that would hardly be as melodious as adding the actual charm to your ensemble, would it?” she adds with a knowing smile.

The priestes chuckles briefly. "I am already quite melodious," she will offer enthusiastically, as she raises her leg behind her and runs her fingers through her anklets and bells, creating numerous tinkling sounds. She smiles again. "I suppose the decision would depend on how long it would take to do the engraving. Certainly a new piece would allow you to work at your leisure. The engraving would have to be done while I am here."

Erizhi will also ask, "Are you familiar with the Immaterian jewelry designs? While I would certainly appreciate a style that befits this area, I would like an ankle bangle much like the Nosok design that is prevalent in our lands."

GM Notes: Apologies to all for the lack of replies up until now. With the holidays I have found myself extremely busy, and add on top of that being sick and working quite a bit of overtime, it has left very few opportunities to post. I can imagine most of the rest of everyone have been busy as well. Post as you can. I’m looking at mid to late January to be able to get the game back into full swing once more.

Sir Rovach -
"It's alright, young Raile.
Fighting a yawn and losing, Raile replies, “A few more hours of sleep would be quite good.” It takes very little time once he is in Sir Rovach’s room to fall back asleep. The young man sleeps quite soundly and, even though the paladin makes every effort to be quiet, he has little doubt Raile would sleep through most noises.

It takes a moment, but soon Raile is awake. He does little to freshen up despite the state of his hair and the clothes he slept in. He will follow Sir Rovach down to breakfast dutifully and listen to what the plans are for the morning, but makes no response.
“Um ok,” Raile replies sullenly. Then he seems to think it over a bit and then nods more positively. Once the food arrives, he looks at it longingly but he catches himself at the last second, hand in mid-motion and glances at Sir Rovach to make sure it is alright for him to partake.
Raile follows the paladin out and listens to his questions. Together, the two of them are assaulted on all sides after leaving the inn. People are everywhere and the noise, while not overbearing, makes Raile stay close so that Sir Rovach can hear his responses without having to resort to shouting.

“Well, I don’t know,” he starts off uncertainly. “Oh wait! I am a fast runner!” he says beaming. “Faster then my brothers at least. And, let’s see. I tried juggling, but I’m no good at it. I can fish though! I know a great spot, this tiny lake not more than a day’s walk from here. The fish aren’t very big but they’re really tasty fried up.”

Sir Rovach can hear the clash of arms as the melee tournament is in full swing. There is also several armored knights that are lancing rings along a section of the palisade that comes into view as he nears Gorvan’s building. He can hear voices coming from inside and sees the constable’s horse where it was before.

“No ma’am, I’m quite sure no one has made off with your cow,” the paladin hears Gorvan patiently saying, “but I will tell the militia to keep a watchful eye for it.”

As Sir Rovach approaches the door, a bewildered woman dressed in peasant’s clothing leaves and moves past. She’s muttering to herself with worries about her lost cow and fails to see either of the two of them.

Upon entering the office, Gorvan looks up and recognizes Sir Rovach. “Ah, good Sir. Come in, come in,” he says with a motion of his hand. Offering a seat, he spots Raile lingering in the doorway. “Who’s this with you?” he asks, and then recognizes the youth. “What business brings you here Raile?”

“Um, I’m going to be his squire,” Raile says sheepishly, then adds, “hopefully.”

“Oh, I see,” Gorvan says, his eyes finding Sir Rovach’s for confirmation. It would seem as though Gorvan may have been told some tall tales by certain young boys in the past given the constable’s reaction.

Erizhi -
"I was told that it has some significance to the area, hence my interest in adding it to my 'collection'. It was presented to me as a gift." Erizhi will look around nonchalantly to see if there is any such similar marking about the woman or the stall. She is curious if this woman is one of their network or just one who does fine craft.
Gaeldra nods in agreement, adding, “Yes much like they revere bears in the northern lands and horses in Baravain.”

Erizhi’s eyes can’t find any eagles on Gaeldra’s person or anywhere on her stall. The Queen had said it would be visible to those who knew what to look for, so it is probably safe to assume the half-elf is not part of the network.
“Certainly I understand,” she says smiling but doesn’t probe further.
“Depending on the recipient material, an engraving might actually take longer,” Gaeldra explains. “Some metals and minerals are harder to work with than others.”
Erizhi will also ask, "Are you familiar with the Immaterian jewelry designs? While I would certainly appreciate a style that befits this area, I would like an ankle bangle much like the Nosok design that is prevalent in our lands."
“Sadly I am not overly familiar,” she answers. “I find most among the Shining Coast are intolerant to my kind,” she adds while raising a finger to point at her ear. “If you wish to temporarily part with something for the day, I can render a design as close as I am able, especially if I can work in silver like your other pieces.”

Sir Rovach

Sir Rovach starts to answer young Raile, when he hears a mysterious voice speak inside his head...

"Happy Holidays everybody! I wish you and your loved ones the very best this season and a very joyous New Year!"

What Holidays? Sir Rovach thinks to himself. Shaking his head, he looks around at the crowds going about their business but it appears nobody else heard what he did. Without know how, or even why, he has the feeling the message wasn't for him, but for others. Others who are somehow watching over them, the people's of this land, perhaps even directing their actions in some way.

Or perhaps he's just going crazy. Smiling, he says quietly "All the best my friends. Whoever and wherever you may be."
"Sir?" Raile asks, looking at him with a puzzled experession.
"Nevermind, young Raile." Sir Rovach responds. "Let us continue on our way."

Sir Rovach nods his head in Gorvan's direction. "Indeed, Sir Gorvan. Young Raile has expressed his desire to become a knight such as myself. I have promised to help him along that path, to the best of my ability, if such is his destiny."

Sir Rovach motions for young Raile to have a seat while he continues to speak to Gorvin. Rovach continues to stand, with his hands folded together in front of him, as he speaks. "Please forgive me, Sir Gorvan, if it might be too soon to ask this, for I would understand if the pain is still fresh, but I have come to inquire about payment on behalf of myself and my companions for the investigation into the Makkee farm incident."

Sir Rovach pauses a bit, wondering if they could have done anything differently to have saved at least some of the Makkee family. He then continues "It is to my utmost regret & sorrow that we were unable to save any of the Makkee family from their fate. But we can at least take some measure of comfort that justice was brought to all but one. And that remaining one shall find justice soon enough." Finished speaking, Sir Rovach will then wait for Sir Gorvan's reply.

Erizhetiana Iltani of Lotan -

"I was told that it has some significance to the area, hence my interest in adding it to my 'collection'. It was presented to me as a gift." Erizhi will look around nonchalantly to see if there is any such similar marking about the woman or the stall. She is curious if this woman is one of their network or just one who does fine craft.

Gaeldra nods in agreement, adding, “Yes much like they revere bears in the northern lands and horses in Baravain.”

Erizhi takes in the info, with a nonchalant smile. "In my lands there are several animals that the people associate with, but in my temple, the lion is our patron animal," she will respond.
---------------------

Erizhi looks about the jewelers' area at the marketplace, with careful glances between browsing the wares and chatting with Gaeldra. She also looks over the woman briefly as well, but to no avail. Gaeldra is likely not a member of the order, based on the info provided to Erizhi, but that is of no overall consequence. The priestess of Ishtar was just taking a moment to see how easy it might be to recognize the symbol when she did see it first. She doubted that the number of members was overly large, but had no true way of knowing.

They begin to discuss a piece of jewelry to be made. Erizhi is looking for something to be completed today, since they would be leaving out to deal with the humanoids raiding band in the morning.

“Depending on the recipient material, an engraving might actually take longer,” Gaeldra explains. “Some metals and minerals are harder to work with than others.”

"Since all of my jewels are of silver, I would suppose that should be the requisite choice for an additional piece as well. While I would prefer to wear gold, my familiy standing sadly does not currently allow for such," Erizhi says with a smile and a dismissive wave.

Erizhi had already been told by Torvin that the jeweler was half-elven, so it does not surprise her when Gaeldra admits to such. "Yes, well, we are a proud, haughty, self-indulgent society that believes all others are inferior," Erizhi says with a sarcastic hint and a chuckle. "I have experienced some of that intolerance in return myself on this visit, but I must say that in general, the peope of Maletar have been quite open, accommodating and friendly."

"I am not so much needing a piece that is a copy of design, but rather of style." Erizhi will prop one foot up on a nearby bench, stool, crate, box or whatever is handy to show Gaeldra what she means. She points out one of the bangles on her right ankle, a round hoop. The piece is engraved with alternating triangular or cone shapes with small enameled insets of blue at the tips of the triangles. Upon close inspection one can see the level of detail, with finer engravings on every alternate triangle. "I was presented with this pair," she wears a matching one on her left ankle also, "by my father when I reached the age of the temple's final initiation. The engravings, symbols and style are clearly Immaterian and the blue enameling is representative of my sect. I would like a similar bangle, but with a style that is uniquely Maletaran, along with the eagle charm. So in a sense, I am leaving the design to you. You can measure the size as you need, but I am loathe to part with them for even a moment as they are a symbol of my affinity to Ishtar."

"I would like to collect the piece by the end of this day, if it is possible," She will reiterate as well.
-----------------------

Once the dealing with Gaeldra is complete, Erizhi will continue to wander the festival merchants to see what might strike her fancy and just to get an overall impression of the event. She will stop for a time to observe the sparring in the tournament, grab herself a light meal in the mid-day from a food vendor, and take in the sights and sounds that make up the event. If there is anyone selling general supplies, she will collect items she does not have such as extra rope, rations, and such and inquire about what supplies might be available. Otherwise, she will look for a regular seller in the town, if none are part of the bazaar.

Later she will clean up before the group meal and change into something more suitable for dinner with the other adventuring members. She will dress almost entirely in white, a mid-length skirt with silver embroidery throughout and a white short-sleeved silk top which bared part of her mid-section. Her jewels were in place as usual and she wore the hair combs she sported the first day she was in Dormare.

Erizhi will arrive early to the meeting, taking the time to make notes in one of her journals as she waits for the others and for the meal to be served.

Sir Rovach -
Sir Rovach motions for young Raile to have a seat while he continues to speak to Gorvin.
“No, no. Of course not,” Gorvan says, brushing off the paladin’s concerns although it is plainly clear he is deeply troubled. While Sir Rovach continues to talk, the constable fishes out a key and opens a small coffer taken from inside his desk.
“Well you did manage to save their young daughter,” Gorvan corrects. “Although I guess it was more of her finding your companions, but it is still a life saved.”

Gorvan tests the weight on one of the pouches contained within the coffer and sets it in front of the paladin. “I don’t believe that there was anything any of us could have done differently. Certainly if it had only been Captain Maletar’s men who were the first to arrive, those responsible would have long fled. There is still hope that his men may find the remaining Makkee children.”

“At least the girl will be well taken care of,” Gorvan adds after a pause. “I have heard that she will become a ward of the Queen herself. I’m not sure about the farm. It will most likely fall to ruin. No one will want that land. The livestock will be auctioned off most likely.”

Then the constable interrupts himself and says, “Anyway, I’m rambling to you about things that you need not be concerned over. Thanks to you and your companions for their help in this matter.” With that, he will stand and offer his hand.

Turning to Raile, he adds, “Sir Rovach is a good man and you should consider yourself lucky for him to take you on as a squire. That is a high honor and you best do him proud.”

Raile nods and manages to say, “Yes Sir.”

Erizhi -
"Since all of my jewels are of silver, I would suppose that should be the requisite choice for an additional piece as well. While I would prefer to wear gold, my familiy standing sadly does not currently allow for such," Erizhi says with a smile and a dismissive wave.
“It will prove the easiest for me to finalize a piece this day since you are in quite the hurry,” the half-elf replies.
Gaeldra either fails to “get” Erizhi’s sarcasm or else still doesn’t find it funny. Clearly she has some history with the Shining Coast. She manages the barest of smiles on Erizhi’s comment of the people of Maletar but nothing further.
"I am not so much needing a piece that is a copy of design, but rather of style." Erizhi will prop one foot up on a nearby bench, stool, crate, box or whatever is handy to show Gaeldra what she means. She points out one of the bangles on her right ankle, a round hoop. The half-elf comes around to look at the jewelry. Her bodyguard tenses up at seeing her leave the relative safety of behind the stall. Gaeldra pays him no mind, instead focusing on the intricacies of the designs. After a short amount of time, she stands upright and addresses Erizhi.

“I can understand you not wishing to part with those pieces,” she says, “and I think I can work well enough without them, especially since you said you wanted something with a more local flavor. I must caution however, that the Maletar people are not as detailed in their designs, but I believe I can come up with something that will be to your liking.”
"I would like to collect the piece by the end of this day, if it is possible," She will reiterate as well.
“I said I will and so it shall be done,” the half-elf says tersely as she returns behind her market stall. “It shall be done no later than the onset of full night no matter how busy my day may be.” GM Notes: Full night is typically an hour after sunset when there is no more lingering light from the sun and only the stars and moon illuminate the sky.
There is a small general store in the village that carries an assortment of tools and supplies that farmers would typically need. The village doesn’t have anything for sale that resembles adventuring gear. Among the merchants however, just about anything that one might think of, and probably some things one wouldn’t, can be found. Even still, quantities are quite limited, so outfitting a company of soldiers would be impossible but enough supplies for a few people is obtainable.

- - - - -

For those who are walking about the village, either for the duration of the day or after conducting business, there seems to be quite the buzz of excitement building. Although slowly at first, once it becomes known, it isn’t long before the entire population is talking about a bard that is supposed to be arriving and performing tonight. The bard’s name, only mentioned by a few in passing or by anyone who is asked directly, is Marizen. She is apparently half-elven but resides in the Deep Wood among the elves. It would seem that the people of Maletar consider it an opportunity of a lifetime to have her come to the Spring Festival and perform. A few rumors begin spreading later in the day that the Queen will be attending the performance.

Sir Rovach
Gorvan tests the weight on one of the pouches contained within the coffer and sets it in front of the paladin.
Rovach picks up the pouch and puts it away inside one of his own belt pouches. (OOC: if it will fit. If not, he will secure it near the front of his belt, next to one of his own pouches). Not wanting to appear rude in front of Sir Gorvan, he will count the contents once he is outside. "My thanks, Sir Gorvan." Rovach will say with a bow of his head. "You are a good man & have been a good friend. I give this promise to you in return: If you ever need help, and you can find me, just ask and I will come to your aid and help however I can. It is the least I may do for the kindness & honor you have shown me."
“At least the girl will be well taken care of,” Gorvan adds after a pause. “I have heard that she will become a ward of the Queen herself.
Startled at this, Sir Rovach has the sudden thought of her being placed in some forgotten orphanage: uncared for, with no family. "What do you mean by 'ward of the Queen', Sir Gorvan?" he wil inquire.
Turning to Raile, he adds, “Sir Rovach is a good man and you should consider yourself lucky for him to take you on as a squire. That is a high honor and you best do him proud.”

Raile nods and manages to say, “Yes Sir.”
Sir Rovach is alittle embarrassed by this kind comment, but he tries not to let it show. "Come along, young Raile. I'm sure Sir Gorvan has much more to do than chat with us. And we still need to meet with Master Torvin, who is to introduce me to Master Jalvin for some work I need him to do." If nothing else arises, Sir Rovach will then take his leave and proceed back to the inn. It should be late enough now that Master Jalvin has had his morning ales he thinks as they proceed outside and, after stepping aside and quickly (and discreetly) counting the coin he received from Gorvin, head straight back towards the inn.

"Yes, well, as a diplomat, time is not always my own. We are sometimes forced to move quickly to take proper advantage of situations."

Gaeldra either fails to “get” Erizhi’s sarcasm or else still doesn’t find it funny. Clearly she has some history with the Shining Coast. She manages the barest of smiles on Erizhi’s comment of the people of Maletar but nothing further.

Erizhi will smile more broadly in return and let the clumsy matter drop. While proud of her heritage, it is clear that it can be a detriment to here time her certainly.

The half-elf comes around to look at the jewelry. Her bodyguard tenses up at seeing her leave the relative safety of behind the stall. Gaeldra pays him no mind, instead focusing on the intricacies of the designs. After a short amount of time, she stands upright and addresses Erizhi.

"Excellent," Erizhi says, clapping her hands together, with a chiming jingle. "Yes, something more local would be appropriate in this case, especially in conjunction with this charm. As Maletar seems to be my home for the forseeable future, something in the local flavor would be rather interesting. Do you have an idea on cost so that I can bring proper coin with me?"

"Most kind," Erizhi will reply trying to defuse the half-elven maiden's mood. "I do not question your ability or timeliness, I was simply emphasizing my own immediate need so there were no misunderstandings. I look forward to concluding business with you," she will say cheerily.

Erizhi is not entirely sure what she will need. She saw the need for having rope, so she will purchase two lengths, as well as some basic tools like a hammer, shovel, etc just because you never know when they could come in handy. She will also purchase an extra knife (she already has a dagger for fighting, but a knife has other uses. She will purchase a little extra oil for her lantern, as well as a bundle of torches for an emergency.

While wandering about the bazaar, Erizhi will hear several comments about the bard who is purported to be performing this evening. Eventually, Erizhi overhears that she is half-elven and goes by the name of Marizen. Eri decides that this might be a welcome excursion after the meeting with the other adventurers. When Erizhi hears that the Queen may be attending also, she just smiles a knowing smile.

If there is time amidst the busy day, Erizhi will return to her room and examine the magickal lyre she found more carefully. She will head out of town a very short distance and see if she can find a secluded area where she considers trying to strum the instrument. So far, only the vile 'Rooster' seems to be one with any magickal talent that she is aware of in Dormare so far and she is loathe to even be near the man, much less go to him for any sort of assistance. After some thought, Erizhi will pluck one of the chords at the end and if nothing happens, proceed cautiously through the full line of strings once.

Kaelyn
(My apologies, been a little crazy around here.)

‘This does not bode well.’ The thief thinks to himself as he looks about the others, gauging their reactions of this news. He can’t help but wonder of these armored boots left within the mud. By the sounds of it perhaps they are the leaders of the orcs but if it is something else, surely it is bigger to leave such a print in the ground.’ he surmises silently.

Kaelyn takes the charm and holds it in his hand then slips it away. For the time being he will hold it within his belt pouch and leave it as such until he can secure it later.

The idea of a meal together before departing soon comes to light as Erizhetiana suggests which Sir Rovach soon agrees. For a few moments the thief mage is silent then says. “I agree, I just hope everyone here can be forthcoming with their skills and experience,” he says evenly.

For the time being, Kaelyn will walk about the town and tents just to see at their wares and pass the time. (sorry been a while since I last posted not sure where I left him or if I could interact with anyone)

Given all they have endured, Redjak isn't surprised that he had fallen asleep. Waking, he looks over at the other bed in the room and sees Zarya sleeping softly. His eyes linger for but a moment on just how peaceful she is resting and a thin smile finds its way to his lips. She has endured all of this well to be sleeping so, he thinks. Then he gets up and gathers his armor and gear. While he doubts there will be such a need in this inviting little village, he has seen just how quickly things can become horrifying.

Dressed and ready for the day, he moves to slip out, but a hand catches his armored wrist. Redjak looks down to see a sleepy-eyed Zarya brushing away strands of hair with her free hand and looking up at him. "I was going to get us some breakfast," he confesses. "Allow you a few more moments of sleep, but since you are up then I will hope you shall join me downstairs."

With that, he excuses himself so she may dress in private and makes his way through the morning crowd to find a table. He will order whatever fare they might have, hopefully something with fruit or a nice juice beverage. Redjak is unable to recall the last time he had fresh fruit. Eggs and ham or some other meat, along with warm bread or muffins would be quite perfect. He will let the serving wench make any recommendations and then wait for Lady Zarya's arrival.

Once they finish breakfast, he will look to see if he can find that dwarven smith that the innkeeper had mentioned would be able to help with the charms. That will probably be the best choice to get it fastened to his quiver. He will see what Zarya decided upon for her charm and then see where the day takes them. "I would certainly like to walk among the merchants and see what wares this part of the world offers," he will tell her.

During the day there is more than a little excitement and anticipation building for a bard that is supposed to arrive that evening. Redjak will have to see if his new-found companions would be interested in attending a performance since they plan to leave the village behind on the 'morrow. They may not have another chance if this Marizen is as much of a recluse from the human lands as the fervor suggests.
For our family, our people, our kingdom, we will prevail!

Sir Rovach -
Rovach picks up the pouch and puts it away inside one of his own belt pouches.
“Much appreciated,” Gorvan replies with a smile.

GM Notes: I only saw one large pouch listed on your sheet and it appeared to be carrying quite near its load limit. The pouch of coins from Gorvan would only fit if that pouch was empty so you have to secure it directly to your belt.
Startled at this, Sir Rovach has the sudden thought of her being placed in some forgotten orphanage: uncared for, with no family. "What do you mean by 'ward of the Queen', Sir Gorvan?" he wil inquire.
Gorvan looks uncertain at first as to what Rovach might be getting at but then he seems to understand. “Well, I’m not sure how different cultures handle such situations,” he begins, “and it’s not a common practice in this kingdom. The way I understand it is that the girl will be moved to the Queen’s household to learn skills and have at least something of a family. I don’t know what might happen if the girl was exceptionally bright or gifted, but given that the Queen was herself an adventurer for a short time, I can only imagine that the girl would have opportunities she wouldn’t get in a small village like this.”
GM Notes: I’m guessing you mean Master Gerdenbar, the visiting dwarf. Jalvin is the local blacksmith but his work is more practical where Master Gerdenbar can work wonders with metal given his race.

A quick count of the coins shows about fifty Gold Towers. You return with Raile to the inn. He pauses a moment to watch two armored knights joust. It is an impressive display and the small crowd cheers at the victorious knight in polished armor with a golden sheen so pale it is almost white.

“Do you know how to joust?” Raile asks as he hurries to catch up, his eyes lingering back at the field a moment longer.

Arriving at the inn, Sir Rovach sees the innkeeper back in place behind the bar. If the paladin looks around, he can also see Sir Redjak and Lady Zarya sharing a late breakfast at a table near the inner courtyard. Approaching the innkeeper, he smiles and waves a greeting, motioning you closer even though that was your original intent.

“The good Master Gerdenbar just finished his fourth tankard. It should be safe enough for introductions,” he tells Rovach with some mirth.

Leaving the bar, he leads Rovach and Raile towards a table near the massive fireplace. Sitting alone has to be the burliest dwarf Rovach has ever seen. Although not likely to be five feet in height, the dwarf blacksmith is easily as big around in the chest as the paladin. His massive beard is flecked with grey in its black waves. Rovach can see where parts of it looks to have been burned away, probably from getting too close to hot metal or the forge itself. The hair on the top of his head is thinning but hangs below his neckline in a loose braid. His calloused hands slam down a now-empty tankard and foam from the ale is on his lips and sliding along his beard.

“Ahhhhh,” the dwarf lets out with a sigh followed by a resounding belch.

“Yes, it’s quite safe now,” the innkeeper says to Rovach then turns to the dwarf. “Would you care for another?”

With a nod of the dwarf’s head, Torvin picks up the empty tankard and wipes the table clean with one quick motion. “Very good,” he repies, then makes introductions. “While you wait, there is someone who has need of your forge this day. This is Sir Rovach, a paladin from the Shining Coast. Sir Rovach, this is Master Gerdenbar.”

“A paladin, you say?” the dwarf questions, then turns eyes the color of beaten copper to Sir Rovach. “The Shining Coast eh? Yer a long way from home, lad. Step up here and let me get a look at you.”

Assuming the paladin complies, Master Gerdenbar looks him over with a skilled eye. “So what you be needing? Yer armor looks crafted well enough. Proud of that you should be I would think. Pull up a chair and let us talk. Don’t be expecting me to be buying you any rounds though.”

Erizhi -
"Excellent," Erizhi says, clapping her hands together, with a chiming jingle. "Yes, something more local would be appropriate in this case, especially in conjunction with this charm. As Maletar seems to be my home for the forseeable future, something in the local flavor would be rather interesting. Do you have an idea on cost so that I can bring proper coin with me?"
“Unless you want me to add in gems, the design I am thinking about will run eight gold,” Gaeldra replies. “The charm will be the centerpiece and so besides the silver, there is little in the way of costs except for my craftsmanship.”
Purchasing the supplies doesn’t take any major effort and so there is ample time for Erizhi to spend some of it studying the magical lyre. She finds a nice secluded spot just south of the village and off the road. She plucks first one string and, when nothing noticeable happens, she proceeds through the entire range. She can feel an energy in the air and something seemed to be on the verge of happening, but nothing on the physical world seems affected. Apparently caution will not cause any effects to occur, beneficial or detrimental. Erizhi doubts that strumming the lyre like one would in a song would be wise however, at least until she learns how to wield it properly. It would seem to her the magic needs a focus and such an outpouring from the instrument without clear direction might prove quite devastating.

Kaelyn -
For the time being, Kaelyn will walk about the town and tents just to see at their wares and pass the time. (sorry been a while since I last posted not sure where I left him or if I could interact with anyone)
If it seems easier for the gm, Just have Kaelyn work(cut) on the gems he acquired
GM Notes: I would figure that we would pick up after the meeting finalized and everyone returned to the inner courtyard of the inn. Kaelyn could easily converse with anyone if he stays at the inn as the others are coming and going. Otherwise he is free to roam the village as he might desire. There is quite a bit going on. He could easily enough pass the time working on his gems as well until the planned evening dinner. It’s not a matter of ease for me, that’s of no concern, but rather how you want Kaelyn to spend this day.

Redjak -
With that, he excuses himself so she may dress in private and makes his way through the morning crowd to find a table.
“Certainly we have all those,” the young tavern girl says smiling, a light dusting of freckles on her nose and cheeks. “We have fresh fruit and juice aplenty. I can bring you a pitcher if you would desire.”

Within a short time, Redjak’s table is covered with a bowl of winter pears from the last crop of the past season, a pitcher of fresh juice, thick-cut slices of ham, boiled eggs, a half-loaf of warm bread and a small basket of fresh muffins.

“Let me know if you need anything else,” she says with a smile and a wink.
Once they finish breakfast, he will look to see if he can find that dwarven smith that the innkeeper had mentioned would be able to help with the charms. That will probably be the best choice to get it fastened to his quiver.
The innkeeper will be about, and at one point Redjak sees Sir Rovach being led over towards a table near the fireplace. From the distance he can just make out a dwarf sitting there and introductions being made. Should Redjak desire, he can join them easily enough.

Sir Rovach

Upon taking his leave from Sir Gorvan, Sir Rovach and Raile proceed back to the inn to meet up with Master Gerdenbar. On the way there, he hears folk they pass talking about some bard coming to town; the town seems to be abuzz with excitement around this bards visit. It would be interesting to see this bard perform but, as he was taught, needs first before pleasure. Maybe a chance will arise later.
“Do you know how to joust?” Raile asks as he hurries to catch up, his eyes lingering back at the field a moment longer.
"I am skilled in the use of the lance, young Raile." Sir Rovach will answer his question. "It is standard training for all knights of my Order. Even those who have choosen the path of the Paladin, like myself. But it is not my preferred method of fighting. I prefer to meet my foe face-to-face, looking my enemy directing in the eye, if at all possible. Not running by him to strike. But that is me, and my ways are not necessary correct for everyone. Why do you ask? Does such a form of combat interest you?"
Upon stepping inside the inn, Sir Rovach will remove his helmet and hand it to Raile. "Young Raile, could you please hold on to this while we are inside the inn?" he will ask as he hands his helmet over to him.
Looking around for the innkeeper, he see's Sir Redjak and Lady Zarya at a table enjoying their breakfast. Sir Rovach will smile and wave in their direction as he continues through the inn, making his way towards the innkeeper.

The good innkeeper leads them over to one of the ....well....largest dwarfs he has ever met. Not that he has met too many in his life, but he has heard stories about them and generalities about their culture. I wonder how much of what I was told is true? he thinks to himself and introductions are made.

"As the guest coming to you, it would only be proper for me to buy you the next round." Sir Rovach will reply with a smile, removing his sword from his back and taking a chair. He will place some coin on the table to pay for their next drinks. When the innkeeper, or one of his emplyee's, returns with Master Gerdenbar's ale then Sir Rovach will order one for himself as well. "As for the round after that, we'll have to see if we can stand each other's company for at least a little while." Sir Rovach will grin as he says this, as to confer this not as a challenge or insult but as just good natured banter.

"You honor me with your comment about my armor, Master Gerdenbar. It has served me well, so I have no complaints. But it is not the reason I am here. This is." At this point Sir Rovach will place his sword onto the table. "And this" He will then remove the charm given to him by the Queen and place it beside the sword so the dwarf can see it.

"This sword is a part of me. As much so as one of my arms or legs. With it, I can strike back at those forces of darkness that prey upon this world." Pointing to the charm, he will say "This charm is a part of me as well. A part that represents my honor: to keep a promise and help others in need."

Sir Rovach will then pause, trying to measure Master Gerdenbar's reaction to what he has said. If more ales are needed, Sir Rovach will pay for them too. As long as their conversation continues.

After a short pause, Sir Rovach continues. "This is what I ask. To join together two items that represent parts of myself, of who I am and what I am and what I stand for. I ask you Master Gerdenbar, for it is said that you are the best there is: can you do this for me?" If the ales have arrived at this point, Sir Rovach will take a drink, then continue to look the dwarf in the eye, waiting for his response.
"You are

when it counts."

Kaelyn
(going to do my best with this to play catch up)
As the meeting comes to a close, Kaelyn looks to his new and old companions. A few he thinks he can trust but a few others not so much. For a few moments Kaelyn thinks about their former druid companion and wonders if there was to be friendship there. Sadly he will never know until their paths cross again.

Silently Kaelyn agrees to the two foreigners statements of getting to know each other strengths, and even so perhaps each others’ weaknesses as well. “I think it may be necessary to perhaps hire some help as well. Perhaps one who knows the woods or can track given we have not seen our ranger for a time.” He surmises.
When Kaelyn arises he stretches and splashes water upon his face. Then wets his hair and slicks it back. A few strands fall into his face as he dawns his leather armor, swords and daggers. Walking down to the inn main floor, he orders his breakfast of poached eggs and yesterday’s bread. Wolfing it down then wiping his mouth with his sleeve, the theif mage gets up and heads out the door to the festival. He will walk among the tents for a time looking at their wares. He has heard of a Bard of some skill has come to the festival which would greatly take his mind to a better place before they encounter the humanoids.
But before he can leave he sees the others speaking to a dwarf with a tankard in his hand. Never having much experience speaking with a dwarf Kaelyn finds himself walking over. “Good Morning Sir Rovach. It seems you have made another acquaintance. Who is your friend? Looking at the dwarf, “Are you to be coming with us Tomorrow?”he can’t help but to ask.

Perhaps one who knows the woods or can track given we have not seen our ranger for a time.” He surmises.

Catching parts of the conversation, Redjak listens in and hears the concern over not having a ranger. "I am a ranger," he will offer when the opportunity presents itself. "I am not, however, familiar with these lands. My own talents lie in other areas as my homeland has little in the way of 'wilds'. So while I may be of some help in our travels, someone who knows these woods would defintely be an asset."

“Certainly we have all those,” the young tavern girl says smiling, a light dusting of freckles on her nose and cheeks. “We have fresh fruit and juice aplenty. I can bring you a pitcher if you would desire.”

"Yes that would be most welcome and quite refreshing," Redjak replies. Seeing all the food arrive makes him realize just how hungry he truly was. All of the stress of the flight from their home and landing on uncertain shores proved to be quite draining. He was really going to enjoy this meal.

“Let me know if you need anything else,” she says with a smile and a wink.

The girl's actions give Redjak a momentary pause. He will smile pleasantly and watch the girl depart. Could it be that she treats all the customers that way? he ponders. Clearly there is some benefit to having your patrons feel even more welcome, but that can be a dangerous game. Zarya's arrival shakes him from his musings and together they enjoy this lavish breakfast.

Looking around for the innkeeper, he see's Sir Redjak and Lady Zarya at a table enjoying their breakfast. Sir Rovach will smile and wave in their direction as he continues through the inn, making his way towards the innkeeper.

Redjak catches Sir Rovach's arrival. He returns the friendly greeting and then finishes the final mouthful of delicious ham. Seeing that Sir Rovach is moving towards the rear of the common seating area, he looks to Lady Zarya. "It would seem the dwarf is here. I am going to go and see about getting this work completed," he will tell her and wait to see if she wants to accompany him. Before he departs, he places several pieces of silver on the table as a tip.

Once Redjak arrives at the dwarf's table, he will wait for a lull in the greetings before interjecting himself. "<Greetings and well met, Master Gerdenbar>," Redjak will say in dwarvish, then switch to the common tongue. "I too am interested in conversing a bit with you about the possiblity of having some work done this day. We have been told you are the one to seek out for the finest quality," he will say, indicating Sir Rovach so as to make it known to the dwarf that they are not strangers to one other.

Redjak will then wait, allowing Sir Rovach to conduct his business since he was the first to arrive.
For our family, our people, our kingdom, we will prevail!

Sir Rovach -
"I am skilled in the use of the lance, young Raile." Sir Rovach will answer his question.
“Oh,” Raile says, then stumbles through his reply to Rovach‘s query. “Well, yes… Sorta. Well, it just looks so… Um... The crowds do sure enjoy it.”
Upon stepping inside the inn, Sir Rovach will remove his helmet and hand it to Raile. "Young Raile, could you please hold on to this while we are inside the inn?" he will ask as he hands his helmet over to him.
“Um, certainly. Ooooff…!” Raile says as he takes the helmet in both hands. He does manage to keep a good hold on it even though its weight surprised him.
“Ah, now that be the best thing I’ve heard all morning,” the dwarf replies smiling broadly. A couple of his teeth are chipped, possibly from a miss-swung work hammer?

“Mmmm,” Gerdenbar mutters while regarding both. “Mhmmm, I see,” he says in reply to Rovach’s additional speech but has his eyes locked on the sword and charm.
The drinks have arrived, and Sir Rovach is greeted with the bitterest tasting ale he has ever attempted imbibing. The dwarf eyes the paladin, judging his reaction from the drink before saying, “Aye. I can do this. It shan’t be a problem. Will even hone its edge for you as it seems you have a bit of wear upon it.”

Kaelyn -
But before he can leave he sees the others speaking to a dwarf with a tankard in his hand.
“I not be knowing nothing about going anywhere,” the dwarf replies. “If that be something yer friend was to mention he has yet to get around to it.”

Redjak -
Once Redjak arrives at the dwarf's table, he will wait for a lull in the greetings before interjecting himself.
The dwarf’s eyebrows shoot up trying to launch themselves over the top of his head upon hearing Redjak’s greeting in dwarvish. “Gabil grunnj brizag,” he will respond in dwarvish, then also switch to common. “Aye lad, this one already be inquiring and the task shan’t take long. So what you be needing?”

Sir Rovach
“Ah, now that be the best thing I’ve heard all morning,” the dwarf replies smiling broadly. A couple of his teeth are chipped, possibly from a miss-swung work hammer?
Sir Rovach is glad Master Gerdenbar has reacted favorably so far; he had never known a dwarf before but had heard stories about what they were like. And one of those stories was that they liked their ale. And if that is true about their race, then Master Gerdenbar appears to Rovach to fit what he's heard.
“Mmmm,” Gerdenbar mutters while regarding both. “Mhmmm, I see,” he says in reply to Rovach’s additional speech but has his eyes locked on the sword and charm.
Another of the more "positive" sterotypes about dwarves that Sir Rovach had heard (and there was more than enough negative ones he had heard back home....) was that they liked blunt, to-the-point conversation. So he had tried this. However, Rovach becomes alittle worried when he doesn't see much response out of Master Gerdenbar. Well done Rovach, he tells himself, this is what you get for believing in sterotypes...
The drinks have arrived, and Sir Rovach is greeted with the bitterest tasting ale he has ever attempted imbibing.
Sir Rovach manages to take a drink, and keep it down, despite the extreme bitterness of the ale. Still holding on to his drink, he will reply "By the wind, Master Gerdenbar, I've never had an ale so bitter! I do enjoy an excessive amount of hops in my ale, but I have never had a bitter ale such as this. What is it called if I may ask?" Sir Rovach will then take another sip. Hopfully knowing what to expect will make the drink become easier to swallow now.
The dwarf eyes the paladin, judging his reaction from the drink before saying, “Aye. I can do this. It shan’t be a problem. Will even hone its edge for you as it seems you have a bit of wear upon it."
Relief fills Rovach as the dwarf acknowledges that he can set the charm to his blade for him. He is about to respond when Mister Kaelyn joins them at their table.
“Good Morning Sir Rovach. It seems you have made another acquaintance. Who is your friend?" Looking at the dwarf, “Are you to be coming with us Tomorrow?”
“I not be knowing nothing about going anywhere,” the dwarf replies. “If that be something yer friend was to mention he has yet to get around to it.”
"Good morning, Mister Kaelyn." Sir Rovach will say to Mister Kaelyn with a smile; it was good to see his friend again.
Turning to the dwarf, he will say "Master Gerdenbar, let me introduce my friend and companion, Mister Kaelyn. A good and honorable man whom I have been given the chance to adventure with."
Turning back to Mister Kaelyn, Sir Rovach will speak to him. "This is Master Gerdenbar, the Master Blacksmith we were told about. I have inquired with him if he could help me set the charm we were given to my sword."

Sir Rovach is about to continue speaking with the dwarf about price and ability to finish the job by the end of the day, when another joins them at their table.
"Master Gerdenbar, may I introduce you to another friend and companion of mine." Sir Rovach will smile and indicate towards Sir Redjak with his tankard. "This is Sir Redjak, a noble knight who I look forward to fighting side-by-side with in battle."
Sir Rovach will wait for Sir Redjak's response to Master Gerdenbar's question. When the moment arises in the conversation & it is appropriate to ask, Sir Rovach will inquire with Master Gerdenbar "Would you be able to complete this task this day, Master Gerdenbar? And if so, may I ask the price? For I would like to ensure I have the coin before you commit to the work."

Knowing that dwarves typically don't like anyone to dance around an issue, especially regarding craftsmanship, Redjak will explain pointedly. "I have need of this charm to be placed along the metal collar around the top of my quiver," he will say, producing the charm and await the response.

Redjak sees the paladin's sword and charm on the table and so ponders if the dwarf will make anything of the same symbol being repeated. There is the chance that he simply won't care.

Kaelyn

Catching parts of the conversation, Redjak listens in and hears the concern over not having a ranger. "I am a ranger," he will offer when the opportunity presents itself. "I am not, however, familiar with these lands. My own talents lie in other areas as my homeland has little in the way of 'wilds'. So while I may be of some help in our travels, someone who knows these woods would defintely be an asset."
Kaelyn is a bit surprised of this, but tries not to show it. “I stand corrected.” He says with a smirk, as he acknowledges the now known ranger.

“Oh.” He says looking embarrassed, “ My apologizes.” He says as he inclines his head to the dwarf in apology. “It is good to have you, Master Gerdenbar. I to may have some work for you, if you would do me the honor. “ taking out the charm, “Would it be possible to attach this to a sword scabbard? And for what price?”

Sir Rovach -
Sir Rovach manages to take a drink, and keep it down, despite the extreme bitterness of the ale.
Gerdenbar lets out a laugh that starts low in his belly and by the time it reaches one’s ears, it is a wonder the very floor isn’t vibrating. Only after a few moments’ time does the laughter subside and the dwarf regains his composure.

“Very well played,” he says to Sir Rovach, still brimming with mirth, “or mayhaps say drank? Around the Halls o’ the Dwarves that brew be called the ‘Pale Gnome’ for that be the shade they turn after imbibing.”

After a bit of a chuckle at some private joke or memory Master Gerdenbar obviously enjoyed by himself he continues. “There be a winter grain my mountain cousins manage to harvest up top their lofty fortresses and be where that particular batch comes from. The good innkeeper ‘ere certainly has ways of obtaining the rare.”
“Aye, it be an easy enough one to finish a baker’s dozen o’ those in a day,” the dwarf says as if his pride might be hurt, although his voice remains cheerful enough. “What ye be taking me for, an elf?”

Redjak and Kaelyn -
Knowing that dwarves typically don't like anyone to dance around an issue, especially regarding craftsmanship, Redjak will explain pointedly. "I have need of this charm to be placed along the metal collar around the top of my quiver," he will say, producing the charm and await the response.
The dwarf regards the work laid out before him much like he did with the paladin; doesn’t say much but seems to be eyeing everything thoroughly.

“Yes, I can be setting you boys up in yer ‘Eagle Brotherhood’ or whatever ye being a part of. I shall do the whole lot fer thirty silvers. Axes or Rods if ye be having them. If not then what might pass fer silver this far south.” Gerdenbar explains. “Can follow me to my forge if ye be wishing or can meet back here. Shan’t take long.”

Sir Rovach
The dwarf regards the work laid out before him much like he did with the paladin; doesn’t say much but seems to be eyeing everything thoroughly.

If not then what might pass fer silver this far south.” Gerdenbar explains. “Can follow me to my forge if ye be wishing or can meet back here. Shan’t take long.”
Sir Rovach considers the dwarf's offer and removes 4 of his Immaterian gold pieces from his pouch, setting them on the table in front of the dwarf. "That is more than a fair offer, Master Gerdenbar, and I thank you." Sir Rovach will say with a smile. "I do not have any Axes or Rods on me, but will this cover the work for all three of us? Plus the inconvienence away from your relaxation here enjoying this fine ale?"

"I myself would like to accompany you to your forge if that is alright with you, and you don't mind my squire coming along." Sir Rovach will then wait to answer any responses from the dwarf or his companions, if needed, and then follow him to his forge. Afterwards, Sir Rovach will then look to purchase equipment for Raile in town before proceeding to this nights gathering for dinner.
