Pirates of the Burning Seas

Post by Tatyanah »

Well, as a lark, I tried something new out this morning.

It's called Pirates of the Burning Seas and is an MMO set in 18th century Caribbean. I truly love lots about the setting: the naval battles, swashbuckling, sword-fighting, the period military uniforms and all that. So it is a natural for a trial.

It is a bit less refined than WOW and CoH in the interface, but the combat system is not bad. As with anything it takes some getting used to.

All that said, it will only be a trial as I cannot justify $15 a month for a game I would play sporadically at best. but it is pretty cool and fairly customizable as far as the character look.

Below is someone who may seem familiar to some who read my pirate in the MB game! She is currently a level three privateer for the British Navy.

You can be British, French, Spanish or Pirate and there are land skirmishes and open sea naval warfare, which is one of the draws for me. Interesting concept. After the 14 days are up, may continue this one if I get my raise.

I tried this out when it first appeared, as my son was working for the maker, Flying Labs. Seemed like a decent game, though I have a genetic block against paying monthly fees for a game. I don't think Flying Labs is doing very well, as my son and a bunch of other employees got laid off last summer.
