Games on Hiatus
Games on Hiatus
Boy, it's been a long time hasn't it? And yeah, I bet you're saying '"tell me something that I don't know!"
At any rate, folks stopped posting and I stopped posting and here we are some 6 months later. Maybe we all needed a break from it. Hard to say.
Anyway, right now I'm just finding out who is interested in continuing on with some or all of the games, and who does not wish to. Just finding out interest right now and nothing more.
I did hear from Gordon back in July and he did express interest in going on once the issues he was dealing with were resolved. So let me know what you all think.
Thanks!

Re: Games on Hiatus
I still have interest in all the games. I apologize I haven't gotten in touch with you sooner, been a little hectic this term.
Til Ehlonna's will be done
Re: Games on Hiatus
Nothing to worry about, Dave. We've all been away it seems. Thanks for letting me know. We might be able to do something to get things going again.Laucian wrote:I still have interest in all the games. I apologize I haven't gotten in touch with you sooner, been a little hectic this term.

Getting back into it
I certainly would like to see one or more of the games restart again. The main D&D one was just starting to get really interesting when it all stopped, so that one would be my vote if it's a limited return, but again any of them would be great to see continue on.
I haven't been dropping by as often, expecially after it all died down. I need to get back into the habit of checking here a little more regularly.

Re: Games on Hiatus
Okay, here's a hypothetical question. If the games were to restart, do you want to pick up where things left off or skip a bit?
The reason that I ask this is that in many of the games, I was in the position where I was waiting for people to post so that I could then update. Granted, I haven't done much with my own characters either, but anything they would have posted really wouldn't have done much to advance the post to the point where there could be a GM Update anyway.
So do you want to skip past what seems to be the boring stuff that no one was posting for anyway, or just jump back in where you left off?

I could see a bit of a skip in the timeline. But I'm only in one game so my view should not cover all the other ones.

Wow, looks like I missed this by a couple of weeks.
Guess I haven't been coming here as often as I should.
In answer to your question, Ken, my answer is a bit muddled. For most of the games, I could see jumping ahead. However, that doesn't seem like it would work so well for Yusef, as he's right in the middle of an adventure. His thread may be separate, but is tied temporally to the other threads in the same world, so getting them to sync up properly later on might prove unweildy.

I haven't been checking this as often either. Jumping ahead would be feasible on some of the games I believe. I'd have to go back and check all of them to see if we'd miss anything important as it's been so long I don't remember each stopping point. I think we were in planning stages for a couple of them so as long as we didn't miss any important details it would be alright.
Re: Games on Hiatus
Working from memory, I believe that jumping Eternal Vigilance up to the next mission would be the way to go with that game. I probably should have done that in the first place as the current stories were winding down or at the very least not progressing anywhere. So if no one minds, I'll just pick up that one with the group being summoned for the next mission.
The others are a bit more complicated. In New Frontiers we were waiting on Validar. No idea of what Steven plans to do with this. I can't imagine him starting to post again any time soon, but one never knows. I'm not comfortable in going further in that without his blessing. We've gone through this many times in the past where a game would be inactive for sometimes years and then pick up on it again. This happened with both his other characters. Its just this time there are other players involved.
Again, working from memory, Hammerfall was seemingly in a planning stage where folks were waiting for the PL to post. I can do a bit with Elfquest, including advancing a few things that the PC's are not directly involved in as of yet.
Yusef is right where he was left at. To answer your question, Gordon, I decided a long time ago that trying to keep track of time in each game was foolish and would cause more problems then it was worth. Simply put, each game is happening now. If things were to crossover, then they also would be happening now. Its the only realistic solution to avoid having different characters in different time frames. A conceit of this particular genre.
Admittedly, I haven't had much desire to write for quite a while now. So if I do start again, I'd start small instead of jumping back into everything all at once. So most likely Eternal Vigilance and/or Elfquest would be the ones to see any new posts.
That seems to sum up where we are at right now.

Re: Games on Hiatus
The elf game would be good. Of course I don't HAVE a character in that one even though I had been following it too. I do have an idea for an elf though that I could make and have join (I know, who would've guessed that I would have any character ideas!)
