[GM Mad]

Elfquest #32


The elves have met the enemy! Six wyvern riders were bearing down on the roc and griffons. Laucian took out four wyverns with Arrows of Stunning and Valena removed two more. Nariya threw her magical spear into one of the remaining wyverns, taking it out. The last wyvern reached the roc and did some minor talon damage before Lia slew it with her longsword. But not before the wyvern bumped with the roc, throwing Talen off balance and off the giant birds back! He’s falling and has Dapple in his arms.

This has not gone unnoticed. Trailing behind the roc and flying thanks to various magical abilities are Kylie and Lilia. Kylie’s gift from the Elfin Gods was the ability to fly. Lilia follows in the form of a sylph. Kylie dives after Talen, pushing her flight to its maximum.

Lilia trails for a moment and then slows to a stop. She casts Feather Fall and targets the magic at Talen. The affect covers both Talen and Dapple and they both start to slow down. Kylie catches them both easily now and can either hold onto them, completely stopping their plummet entirely or just let them drift towards the ground.

With Talen and Dapple safe and the wyvern’s dealt with, there are no other threats in the sky. The story is different on the ground, however, as around a hundred orcs are rushing towards the Sylvan Realm.


Now what?

[Nariya]

Nariya:

Nariya's aim is true with her spear and she takes one of their foes from the sky. Her friends deal with the others without mercy. Suddenyl she is aware that Talen has fallen from the roc! There is little she can do as others race to save him. It seems they finally slow his plummet and catch up to him with the use of magic. maybe i have been wrong about magic for all this time she thinks as her spear reappears in her hand.

With Talen and Dapple safe and the wyvern’s dealt with, there are no other threats in the sky. The story is different on the ground, however, as around a hundred orcs are rushing towards the Sylvan Realm.

"That's where we need to be!" Nariya calls out, pointing below. "We have the skies now so it should be easier to drive them from our lands forever." She will wait impatiently to be put down on the ground so she can seek out their leaders and engage them with her spear.

[Lilia]

Lilia:

Lilia casts Feather Fall and the magic envelopes Talen and Dapple stopping their descent. Kylie catches up to them a moment after that. That problem solved, Lilia looks around. She's relieved that Talen is safe, but there are other matters to deal with. The sky is clear of threats, but the ground is full of orcs.

"That's where we need to be!" Nariya calls out, pointing below. "We have the skies now so it should be easier to drive them from our lands forever." She will wait impatiently to be put down on the ground so she can seek out their leaders and engage them with her spear.

“Agreed!” Lilia calls out. “We’ll secure a safe landing area for the roc. Laucian, lets take the fighting to the enemy!”

Lilia dives down towards the orcs. Once in range she’ll cast Fireball, Wall of Ice in sheet form, and then Otiluke’s Acid Cloud to soften the enemy up. Once closer to the ground, Lilia will cast a Lightning Bolt so that it will cover as many orcs as possible.

[Valena Feador]

Valena:

Valena hears Lia shouting behind her, but says nothing. She knows that there is nothing she can do to save Talen, but doesn’t have the courage to speak the words. Fortunately, Kylie reaches Talen and stops his fall. Valena lets out a heavy sigh of relief.

"That's where we need to be!" Nariya calls out, pointing below. "We have the skies now so it should be easier to drive them from our lands forever." She will wait impatiently to be put down on the ground so she can seek out their leaders and engage them with her spear.

“Agreed!” Lilia calls out. “We’ll secure a safe landing area for the roc. Laucian, lets take the fighting to the enemy!”

Valena nods her understanding and speaks to the roc once more. She’ll ask it to land well before the orcs so that it can be airborne once more before they arrive. Once down, Valena will slip off the roc and thank it for its noble service. Then she’ll take a position where she can fire her arrows into the approaching horde.

To her companions, Valena will say, “I’m going to conjure a field of Spike Growth before the approaching horde. This will slow them down and possible even slay those foolish enough to rush into it. All of you need to keep your distance from it.”

[Talen]

Talen:

One moment Talen is falling, the next he feels as if he is floating.

“Must be magic,” he reasons to himself.

The next thing he knows, Kylie is there, holding on to him and Dapple.

“Hi,” Talen says. “Fancy meeting you here. I don’t know what you did, but thanks. I owe you one.”

[Laucian]

Laucian

“Agreed!” Lilia calls out. “We’ll secure a safe landing area for the roc. Laucian, lets take the fighting to the enemy!”

Knowing his bows limits, Laucian will direct his griffon towards the orc horde, once in range he will rain arrows down on them from above.

[Lia]

Lia

Lia can only watch as her brother plummets towards the ground as the others reach out and do something. Talen starts moving slower causing her to ward what just happened.

Once they reach the ground, Lia will give her brother a huge then hit him in the arm. “Don’t scare me like that!” She will draw her longsword and wait for the orcs to come a calling

[Kylie]

Kylie:

Kylie dives toward the falling pair, driving herself as fast as she can. Suddenly, Talen and Dapple slow dramatically just as the words of a Feather Fall spell reach Kylie's ears from Lilia's lips. It is only a moment before Kylie is beside Talen.

“Hi,” Talen says. “Fancy meeting you here. I don’t know what you did, but thanks. I owe you one.”

"Hi, yourself. I'm glad you're safe, but I cannot take credit for it; Lilia cast the spell that saved your lives." Kylie hands the ring to Talen that she just fished out of her enchanted Girdle. "Here, Talen, take this Ring of Feather Falling. That way, I won't have to worry about you leaping from flying birds in the future.

"Join the others as soon as you reach the ground. I'll see you when the battle is over."

Kylie peels off and follows Lilia in on her attack run. She doesn't have any Fireballs, but she does have a Lightning Bolt. As she passes over the orcs, Kylie drops a Wall of Ice on them and follows it up with Agannazar's Scorcher. Next, she does her best to line up a shot at the fire giant and hellhounds with the Lightning Bolt, splitting it if need be to catch the maximum number of the beasts. If that isn't sufficient to put down the giant, Kylie will hit him with Iron Spikes.

Post Continued:

With the skies clear of Wyverns and their riders, the elves target the advancing orc horde below. Trailing behind the horde is their fire giant commander with a pack of hellhounds. Lilia, Laucian, and the griffons go to greet the horde while Kylie gives Talen a Ring of Feather Falling. The roc begins to slow and prepares to land a safe distance from the orc horde.

Lilia slows and hovers at the extreme limits of her Fireball range. The spell is cast and a large ball of fire erupts among the advancing orcs. Over a dozen orcs go down from the fiery assault.

Laucian has his griffon slow to a glide even higher overhead. Drawing his Hunter’s bow, Laucian fires into the horde. His first two shafts are true and the target orcs fall.

The riderless griffons continue forward, not slowing their speed at all. They dive and rake their talons on those orcs unfortunate enough to get in their way.

The orcs try to fight back. A few spears are hurtled, but its clear that their targets are beyond the missiles reach. Arrows are tried and a few come close, but none hit the mark.


Further back, the roc is on the ground and its passengers slip off the giant bird. The orcs are still a minute or two away, so they have time to prepare.

Kylie joins Lilia and Laucian on the offensive. Both she and Lilia cast horizontal Walls of Ice overhead of the orcs. The sheets then plummet, crushing any orc underneath. Nearly twenty more orcs are removed from the battle this way.

Lau fires another volley of arrows and two more orcs go down.

The riderless griffons continue onward, flying away from the orcs but towards the fire giant. Their talons scratch the fire giant, but the giant fights back. He slashes at one of the griffons with his giant sword and slices into the griffons flank. Both griffons fly off past the giant and will have to slow to circle back around. The wounded griffon isn’t moving as well as the other one.


Lilia drops Otiluke’s Acid Cloud into the midst of the enemy with devastating results. Those orcs who are exposed go down screaming as their flesh is dissolved away. Even worse, the Acid Cloud remains in place on the battlefield, burning any who get too close to it. About another fifteen orcs meet this unpleasant fate.

Kylie follows up with Agannazars Scorcher. A jet of flame erupts from her hand extending for sixty feet. Any orc struck by it or those too close are burned by the attack. Scratch another half dozen orcs.

Lau spies an orc with better armor than the other orcs who wear plain leather armor. Figuring him to be a leader type, Laucian targets him. His first arrow strikes the orc in chain mail in the chest and the second punctures his neck, killing him instantly.

Nariya readies her spear for the approaching orcs, while Lia flashes her longsword. Valena casts Spike Growth on the plains between you and the orcs. The spell affects are unseen to the naked eye, but the grass and roots within the area of effect are twisted and sharpened to a razor’s edge. Any creature entering that area will be injured by the magic.

The giant roc flaps its wings and rises into the air once more, safely out of reach of orc spears and arrows.

A horde of about forty orcs is rapidly approaching those on the ground, unaware of the Spike Growth before them.

Much further back, Talen and Dapple safely touch ground.

[GM Mad]

GM Notes:

That covers the first three rounds of combat. The battle didn’t advance far enough for everyone to carryout all the actions that they posted. Agannazars Scorcher has a two round duration, so the fire jet will cover the entire next round of combat. Likewise, the Acid Cloud is still on the battle field, but its not near any elf on the ground.

Nariya and Lia can either advance toward the enemy or just wait for them to arrive. They will also need to avoid the area of Spike Growth Valena laid down. It’s roughly an area ten feet wide by eighty feet long, so it can potentially catch many of the orcs unaware. A lone cooshee is with you as well.

The vast majority of the orcs wear leather armor. Three others wore chain, but Laucian took one of them out. One wears plate mail, so he’s most likely the leader of the orcs. With the ranks thinned out as they are, he can be easily spotted now.

Now what?

[Kylie]

Kylie:

By time Kylie catches up, Lilia has already taken out a swath of orcs with a fireball. Apparently thinking alike, the two sorceresses both drop Walls of Ice on the disgusting creatures, crushing quite a few more. However, they have different spells in their respective arsenals and choose different ways to follow up their success. Kylie unleashes Agannazar's Scorcher to good effect, though it isn't as effective as Lilia's spell.

Continuing to fly over and past the orcs on her way to greet the fire giant and his hounds, Kylie continues to sweep the orcs with the magic flame. And if she should happen to catch one of the orcish leaders with the fire, so much the better.

Kylie's approach is indirect, leading her somewhat off to the side of where the giant is. Her intention is to attack from either the side or rear with her Ligntning Bolt, depending on which will allow her to catch the most hellhounds along with their master.

[Laucian]

Laucian


Laucian will continue to rain arrows down from about, The orc in plate mail is his first target, his second being the giant.

[Lia]

Lia


Lia will stand at the ready with her cross-bow and take a shot when she can. Once the orcs come to close, Lia will drop her crossbow and draw her sword, being mindfull of Valena's spell.

[Lilia]

Lilia:

Lilia hovers above the orcs, unleashing her large-scale magicks upon the horde. Combined with Kylie’s spells and Laucian’s arrows, over half the orcs are taken out. To even further tip the odds in our favor, Lilia will cast Sleep.

Seeing Kylie getting ready to move on to the fire giant, Lilia follows.

“You take one side, I’ll take the other,” Lilia calls out as she beats her Sylph wings. “I’ve got a Lightning Bolt ready. Perhaps we can get him in a crossfire.”

Once close enough, Lilia will dive closer to the ground so that she can catch the hellhounds in her forked bolt as well as their giant master.

[Valena Feador]

Valena:

With her Spike Growth in place, Valena moves to roughly the center of the affect. She draws her bow and begins to rain arrows upon them.

[Talen]

Talen:

"Hi, yourself. I'm glad you're safe, but I cannot take credit for it; Lilia cast the spell that saved your lives." Kylie hands the ring to Talen that she just fished out of her enchanted Girdle. "Here, Talen, take this Ring of Feather Falling. That way, I won't have to worry about you leaping from flying birds in the future.

Talen accepts the ring with a curious look on his face. “I could have used this a few minutes ago and it’s not like I choose to jump, you know!”

"Join the others as soon as you reach the ground. I'll see you when the battle is over."

“Right,” Talen agrees as he floats towards the ground.

The battle has already started and Talen just watches as he slowly falls. He’s tempted to try a few spells from this distance, but decides not too as he’s not totally sure of the distance and doesn’t wish to catch any of his friends in their affect. Talen will cast Strength on himself as he is able.

Once on the ground, Talen will run to catch up with the ground forces. If there is a large group of orcs, he’ll cast a Lightning Bolt at time. If the forces are smaller, he’ll use Magic Missile.

[Nariya]

Nariya:

Nariya and Lia can either advance toward the enemy or just wait for them to arrive. They will also need to avoid the area of Spike Growth Valena laid down. It’s roughly an area ten feet wide by eighty feet long, so it can potentially catch many of the orcs unaware. A lone cooshee is with you as well.

Mindfull of the spike growth, Nariya waits along the edges of it. She looks for leaders, seeing those in the better armor as her targets. She will wait until they are close enough to throw her spear at, but if they stay too far away, she will use her bow and begin picking off as many as she can. She hopes they will charge.

Post Continued:


The assault on the orc horde continues! What had started out with nearly 100 orcs has been thinned out to about forty or so.

Hovering over the battlefield, Lilia casts a Sleep spell and seven orcs nod off in response. Lilia then flies with Kylie towards the fire giant.


High overhead, Laucian locates the orc commander, the only orc wearing platemail. Twin shafts are fired and both impact on the orcs torso. Not that far away, and separated from him by the field of Spike Growth, Nariya spies the same orc. She tosses Orcsbane and it punctures his chest, killing the orc commander instantly.

Valena stand stock-still and quick fires her arrows. A volley of three shafts are loosed and all three take out their targets. Lia fires her crossbow, wounding another orc.


Further back, Talen is on the ground again and casts Strength on himself. Dapple breaks into a full sprint and reaches the ground elves faster and joins the other cooshee near Valena.


A force of about thirty orcs unwittingly runs into the Spike Growth field in an effort to reach those orcs on the ground. The affect is dramatic on the first rank of orcs. Many are badly wounded by the Spike Growth and in turn fall, impaling themselves among the razor sharp foliage. A dozen orcs meet this unpleasant fate and those who do survive the Growth field are badly hobbled from the damage done to their feet.


Further back, Kylie and Lilia close on the fire giant. They fly in along the flanks close to the ground and cast Lightning Bolts at both the giant and his hellhound companions. The fire giant withstands both bolts of lightning easy enough. He doesn’t even break stride. He waves his giant sword about, but both mages are too far away to reach.

The hellhounds are not as fortunate. Each bolt took out two hellhounds right away, while two more were caught in the crossfire and were struck twice. Only two hellhounds remain of the original eight.


Over the orc horde, Laucian continues his methodical removal of the orc commanders. Another one in chain mail is targeted and removed. No more orc leaders remain.


Those elves on the ground now have hobbled orcs closing in on them. Nariya uses her regular spear and impales two of the numerous orcs rushing her. She takes a glancing strike from a shortsword in the process. Orcsbane returns to her hand a moment later.

Valena continues to quick fire and removes three orcs rushing her. Both Dapple and other cooshee stand before Valena to protect her. Both leap up and bowl over an approaching orc dragging them down. Several orcs do reach Valena and she’s stabbed with a spear.

Lia drops her crossbow and utilizes her longsword. She begins to sword dance and it’s a deadly waltz as two orcs are slashed to death. Five other orcs try to hack and stab Lia, but none of their weapons reach the mark of their fleet target.

Talen rushes closer, pausing only long enough to cast Magic Missile. Three missiles issue forth and plunge into an orc, killing him.

[GM Mad]

GM Notes:

That covered two more rounds.

There’s about twenty orcs in the area around Nariya, Lia, Valena, and Talen. Two cooshee’s are present as well. There are no more leader orcs present, but the horde’s moral remains strong. The orcs are hobbled from the Spike Growth and cannot move as fast as normal.

The fire giant is wounded, but still in good shape. Two hellhounds remain.

Now what?

[Lilia]

Lilia:

The battle continues and Lilia unleashes more and more of her spells. Alas, she’s rapidly reaching the end of her useful magicks! If on she had left the Star Crown on; she’d have twice as many spells at her command!

But no time to worry about that. Looking back, Lilia can see that those on the ground have engaged the orcs and seemed to be doing well. Lilia decides to concentrate her efforts on the fire giant. She’ll cast Magic Missile at the fire giant and then follow it up with a Color Spray. After that, she’ll draw her Manabow and fire arrows repeatedly hovering from a safe distance.

[Valena Feador]

Valena:

The unsuspecting orcs run into the area of Spike Growth and pay the price. The sharp caltrop-like foliage damages their feet and many collapse into the growth and are killed. The rest are limited in how fast they can move.

Using her archer skills, Valena quick fires arrows into the orcs. Many go down but many more are closing in. Switching to her short swords, Valena continues to attack the orcs.

[Talen]

Talen:

Safely on the ground, Talen rushes to join his companions. He’ll pause to cast ranged spells until he joins the others fighting the orcs. Talen will use his other Magic Missile and then Color Spray in necessary. Once in hand-to-hand range, Talen will attack with his bastard sword.

[Kylie]

Kylie:

Talen accepts the ring with a curious look on his face. “I could have used this a few minutes ago and it’s not like I choose to jump, you know!”

"Are you sure about that?" Kylie asks with a grin. "I don't know..."

“You take one side, I’ll take the other,” Lilia calls out as she beats her Sylph wings. “I’ve got a Lightning Bolt ready. Perhaps we can get him in a crossfire.”

"Sounds like a plan to me," Kylie calls back. Sweeping into position, she unleases her own Lightning Bolt.

Amazingly, the twin Lightning Bolts hardly even seem to phase the giant! Fortunately, three-quarters of his pets are removed from the field of play. With no better idea how to deal with the huge humanoid, Kylie allows herself to drift higher as she fires a set of Iron Spikes into the giant. She immediately follows those with enchanted Ice Arrows from her quiver, which she'll keep firing until the giant goes down.

[Nariya]

Nariya:

Those elves on the ground now have hobbled orcs closing in on them. Nariya uses her regular spear and impales two of the numerous orcs rushing her. She takes a glancing strike from a shortsword in the process. Orcsbane returns to her hand a moment later.

The orcs just lumber forward and impale on Nariya's spear. They do have some fight to them as she nearly avoids a sword swing. Only but a scratch she fights on when Orcsbane returns to her.

Even without leaders they seem strong. Nariya drops her other spear and will Orcsbane against those closest to her. If she runs out of close targets, she will throw it at any orc in range.

[GM Mad]

Post Continued:


The battle against Moorkroft’s forces continues. The elves have gone to intercept the occupants of one of the eleven forts that surrounded the Sylvan Realm. A horde of orcs led by a fire giant was rushing toward the realm, intent upon destroying the Mother Tree.

The orcs have been whittled down considerably by use of magic and ranged attacks. A mere twenty remain now, along with the lone fire giant and a pair of hellhounds.

Kylie and Lilia continue their magical assault upon the fire giant. Kylie casts Iron Spikes and four iron missiles slam into the giant. Lilia adds a four regular Magic Missiles and between the two attacks they can see that the giant is hurt.

In response to the attacks, the fire giant produces a boulder from his sack and throws it at Lilia! The primitive missile hits the elfin priestess and she’s thrown backwards and crashes into the ground. Lilia is hurt from the impact and the fall, but keeps her wits about her.

The giants’ last two hellhounds break into a sprint towards the prone Lilia. The devil dogs are bearing down on Lilia when from seemingly out of nowhere, the griffons streak in and each picks up a hellhound and flies off with it! The griffons then gain altitude and once high enough, drop their unwilling passengers fatally back down to earth.


High overhead on his own griffon, Laucian continues to rain down death. Two more orcs are removed from the battle by his shafts.

Orcsbane has returned to Nariya’s hand and she thrusts it into another orc who dies immediately from the attack.

Valena proves that she’s just as deadly with her blades as her arrows as she downs two orcs with her short swords.

Lia adds another orc to the growing pile with her own sword.

Talen casts Magic Missile and one more orc bites the dust.

The orcs that remain, about eleven of them have finally had enough. They retreat and start to run away. The two cooshee’s pursue.


Further back, the fire giant takes his huge sword in hand and starts to lumber towards the prone Lilia. Kylie hovers not too far away.

[GM Mad]

GM Notes:

Another round in the books. The orcs are in full retreat and are thus open to attacks of opportunity. The hellhounds are gone and just the fire giant remains as a threat. He’s visibly hurt and doesn’t look like he can take much more damage.

Now what?

[Lilia]

Lilia:

Magic Missile is cast and the fire giant is starting to show signs of being wounded. The giant reaches into his sack, pulls out a boulder and throws it at me! Lilia tries to move away, but isn’t fast enough. But she’s not too concerned, after all she has her Stoneskin in place.

The collision actually hurts Lilia and she’s thrown to the ground. The impact with the ground also hurts!

“No Stoneskin,” Lilia mutters in realization. “I’m wearing armor…”

As she tries to gather her wits, Lilia spots the hellhounds rushing towards her. Throwing her arms up, the elf maiden tries to protect herself. Fortunately aid in the form of the riderless griffons arrives! The swoop in like giant birds of prey and snatch the hellhounds away.

“Wonderful creatures!” Lilia notes, mostly to herself.

“The giant is weakening,” Lilia calls to Kylie. “Keep the pressure on!”

Lilia draws her Manabow and takes aim. As she does so, she rises into the air once more moving both higher and further away from the giant at the same time.

[Valena Feador]

Valena:

While she doesn’t use her swords very often, Valena proves that she’s skilled with her blades. The orcs moral finally breaks and they start to retreat.

“We cannot allow any of them to survive,” Valena calls out as the cooshee’s give chase.

Stowing her swords once more, Valena draws her bow and goes for her arrows. She’ll fire at the fleeing orcs until they are all brought down.

[Talen]

Talen:

The orcs start to flee just as Talen arrives on the scene.

“Wow, we did it!” He pants.

Valena and the cooshees seem intent on taking down all the orcs and Talen will not object. Lacking any real ranged attacks, Talen will stay here and see if anyone needs help or not.

[Kylie]

Kylie:

The battle continues, and Kylie and Lilia pelt the fire giant with missile spells, clearly wounding it. However, it is not so wounded as not to be dangerous, as the giant picks up a boulder and hurls it at Lilia. The rock strikes Lilia, knocking her to the ground, and the remaining two hellhounds streak after the downed elven spellcaster! Kylie is about to fly to her rescue when a pair of griffons swoop down and pluck the hellhounds into the sky. Moments later, the 'hounds fall from high above, crashing into the ground, never to rise again.

Out of the corner of her eye, Kylie can see that the few remaining orcs of have started to flee. Surely they will not get far...

Not giving up despite being the only real threat left on the battlefield, the giant pulls out a huge sword and moves toward Lilia.

“The giant is weakening,” Lilia calls to Kylie. “Keep the pressure on!”

Lilia draws her Manabow and takes aim. As she does so, she rises into the air once more moving both higher and further away from the giant at the same time.

Seeing that Lilia is able to rise and wield her bow, Kylie shifts her path to move higher over the giant. Readying the bow she inherited from her mother, Kylie begins to pepper the humanoid with a stream of enchanted Ice Arrows from her quiver.

[Laucian]

Laucian

Laucian will turn his attention to the fire giant, shotting arrows down at him

[Lia]

Lia

Lia moves as her grandmother had taught her moving with grave and balance as her blades dances along with her. The faint ring of steel on steel is felt and only furthers her movements as her blade moves through two orcs dropping them to the ground.

Within moments their movements are in full retreat but the Fire giant remains, “For to long you have not felt the sting of elvish steel.” Lia will close in on the Fire Giant and teach him to dance.

[GM Mad]

Post Continued:

The invading orc horde has been whittled down considerably in size. Only their leader, a fire giant remains while eleven orcs are fleeing for their lives.

Kylie fires a pair of Ice Arrows at the fire giant, but only one finds the mark. The ice causes that part of the giants’ body to steam upon impact.

Lilia pulls back the string on her Manabow and an energy arrow forms. Two arrows are fired and much like Kylie’s efforts, only one of the arrows pierces the giants’ armor.

High overhead, Laucian lets loose with a pair of shafts and both of them burrow through the giants armor. Gushes of blood spurt out of the wounds. The fire giant slows his advance and then tumbles to the ground accompanied by a loud thud. The giant is dead.


Elsewhere, Valena fires arrows into the fleeing orcs taking them down. The cooshee’s easily overtake the orcs and drive them to the ground. Nariya and Lia easily depose off the few that remain.

It took nearly a dozen minutes, but the orc horde has been destroyed.


GM Notes:

The orcs have been defeated. The two riderless griffons will come in and land. Both were wounded in the battle, as was Laucian’s griffon, but none of the injuries are life threatening. The roc has left the area, so you’ll need to find another way back to the Mother Tree. You’ll need to decide what to do with the orcs that Lilia put to sleep earlier.

Now what?

[Kylie]

Kylie:

A series of shafts from herself, Lilia and Laucian finally put down the giant. Sighing in relief, Kylie flies over to Lilia. "Are you okay, Lilia?" When Kylie is certain that Lilia is not seriously injured, she will fly down and search the giant for anything of note.

Once everyone is together again, Kylie puts forth a suggestion. "I think we should continue on to the fort and destroy it. It's probably worth searching the fort first, though. You never know what we might find."

Kylie won't suggest it, but she doesn't have a problem with someone killing the snoozing orcs - as long as it isn't her.

[Nariya]

Nariya:

The remaining orcs turn to flee and Nariya throws her magic spear at one of them before he can get far.

“We cannot allow any of them to survive,” Valena calls out as the cooshee’s give chase.

"They won't," Nariya replies and gets out her bow since the spear has yet to return to her. She fires at the few orcs as they try to flee. The range of their weapons and the speed of the cooshees is too much. It is over.

Once everyone is together again, Kylie puts forth a suggestion. "I think we should continue on to the fort and destroy it. It's probably worth searching the fort first, though. You never know what we might find."

"Right," Nariya says. "we want nothing left of them on this blessed land." Since she figures the sleeping orcs must die, Nariya has no problem doing the task.

[Valena Feador]

Valena:

"They won't," Nariya replies and gets out her bow since the spear has yet to return to her. She fires at the few orcs as they try to flee. The range of their weapons and the speed of the cooshee’s are too much. It is over.

“No, they won’t,” Valena agrees as she quick fires her arrows into the fleeing orcs. Perhaps not the mot noble or heroic of tactics, but necessary ones.

Soon it is all over and no orcs remain. Valena quickly cleans the blood from her weapons and then turns her attention to their animal companions. She’ll make sure that they are okay and if wounded will heal them, converting her spells into healing magic.

Once everyone is together again, Kylie puts forth a suggestion. "I think we should continue on to the fort and destroy it. It's probably worth searching the fort first, though. You never know what we might find."

"Right," Nariya says. "We want nothing left of them on this blessed land." Since she figures the sleeping orcs must die, Nariya has no problem doing the task.

“Sounds like a plan to me. The griffons should be able to carry us there. Afterwards, all these bodies should be rounded up and burned.”

Valena will ride one of the griffons to the orc fort.

[Lilia]

Lilia:

Lilia draws her Manabow and fires. It’s strange in that she’s possessed such a powerful weapon for a long time now, but only rarely used it instead resorting to her magic spells. Perhaps that is a tactic that needs to change.

A series of shafts from herself, Lilia and Laucian finally put down the giant. Sighing in relief, Kylie flies over to Lilia. "Are you okay, Lilia?" When Kylie is certain that Lilia is not seriously injured, she will fly down and search the giant for anything of note.

“I will live,” Lilia notes as she scans the battlefield. “We’ve come a long way since gathering in Pyris. Would any of us imagine just where our travels would lead us?”


Slowly the companions regroup as the battle is over. Lilia sees Valena tending too and healing the griffons and cooshee’s of their wounds.

“I now have the power to heal,” Lilia silently realizes. But since she has yet to pray for spells, her new priestly magicks remain unavailable. “Yet another thing I will have to become accustomed to.”

Once everyone is together again, Kylie puts forth a suggestion. "I think we should continue on to the fort and destroy it. It's probably worth searching the fort first, though. You never know what we might find."

“Sounds like a plan to me. The griffons should be able to carry us there. Afterwards, all these bodies should be rounded up and burned.”

“We are of like minds then,” Lilia agrees. “The orcs and their allies, along with their fort must be reduced to ashes. Only then can we return to the Mother Tree. We must be confident that the other adventuring bands will meet with success like we have.”

“Laucian, Kylie and myself will scout the fort from overhead. If it appears to be deserted, we’ll all go in and explored. Take anything you wish and we’ll burn the rest. Let’s finish the job.”

Lilia will fly to the fort under the power of her Polyself spell.

[Talen]

Talen:

The battle is over and Talen helps out as best he can. He is reunited with his sister.

Lia will give her brother a hug then hit him in the arm. “Don’t scare me like that!”

“Ow! Hey, it wasn’t on purpose, you know!” Talen objects.


“You guys were impressive! There must have been a hundred orcs here!”

Talen follows along with the plan to go and explore the fort. While he’d rather go there on foot, it’s far enough away that riding on griffon back makes sense. At least he’s got a magical backup this time!

[Laucian]

Laucian

With several arrows the Giant succumbs to his fate as his body hits the ground with a loud thud. Laucian pats the side of his Griffon, “Let us go to the others.” As the griffon soon lands soon enough by the others, he quickly sees his griffon is hurt and will convert one of his spells to heal its wounds. (darkness to CLW) turning to check the wound once more he will say, “You flew well my friend.” Petting the griffons neck then turns to see the others.

“Let us be done with it and then see to the others.” Laucian will search out for the leaders of the orcs and strip them of their goods. If any of the orcs have any arrows of worth, Laucian will take them till his Quiver can hold no more.

Once the deed is done, Laucian will mount up on his griffon, and offer his hand to Nariya. “The view is fair, though the company would improve its beauty.” Seeing if Nariya would care to share a ride.

[Lia]

Lia

Lia will have no hesitation in helping Nariya dispatch the sleeping orcs. Afterword, she searchs them for anything of value then gathering them together.

“Ow! Hey, it wasn’t on purpose, you know!” Talen objects.

“I know, I just couldn’t bare the thought of losing you.” She say in reply.

Lia will be ready to move forward to the fort, hopefully the griffons can hold her weight.
