Crucible #14 - "Mad Dogs! Part Three"

Outside of Horton's Plaza a collection of newly created and some semi-experienced supers have gathered. Introductions are made all the way around.

All around them, emergency services personal fill the area. Paramedics are examining those who collapsed in the street. The quickly reach the same conclusions that Serena did. They are all dead, killed by some unknown force. Just glancing around in this area you note dozens of lifeless bodies. Given how wide spread the affect was, the death toll might reach unimaginable numbers.

PRIMUS Agents in full battle gear show up and under the direction of Major Star take Mad Dog into custody. Several of you met the Major earlier. For the new people, Major Star is the commander of the local PRIMUS branch and a full fledge super in his own right. The Major has nuclear energies flowing throw his body and wears patriotic red, white, and blue armor.

"Your help in this crisis has been most appreciated. However, there remains a great deal of work. Other newly created supers are out there harassing innocent people. We're simply too overwhelmed to deal with everything. Even worse, Gargoyle is missing."

Receiving yet another emergency call, Major Star rockets away.

Upon hearing that Rage has recovered from his initial thumping, several of those present decide to take care of him again. Goldstar carries a shrunken Flux and Blackout while dragging Eldritch Arcane behind her. Frostbite follows, skating across the ground, preferring not to expose his allies to the freezing affect of being too close to him.

The group quickly reaches the entrance to the open plaza. Down below, they can see the source of the problem. There is a large, 6'8", man with reddish skin, as if he's had a really bad sunburn, tearing things apart with his bare hands. Flux has encountered this powerhouse before.

GM Notes:

Small post this week. I'll need to know who else is going take on Rage and just how you plan to go about that. I'll also need to know what everyone else is going to do in the meantime. I have Flux, Goldstar, Blackout, Eldritch, and Frostbite going to deal with Rage. Everyone else is still outside.

There also was time to ask Major Star a few questions. Apart from him, the other PRIMUS people in the area are all enlisted men. There are also numerous police, firemen, and paramedics in the area. So far the media has been confined to overhead helicopters.

All yours!

Lily:

Lily makes sure to meet everyone as best she can under the circumstances. It's hard to be social when there is death all around. The thought of so many people being killed leaves Lily feeling rather sick to her stomach.

"Uh... I think I'll stay here and help Serena. I've seen the red guy, and I doubt I can be of any assistance in apprehending him." In truth, Lily is rather afraid of the big man, and being unsure of her new powers, suspects that she would likely be more hindrance than help.

"Good luck!" she calls out as the others depart.

The Goldstar Express!

Post by Goldstar »

Goldstar:

All the people who died sadden Goldstar. What a horrible thing to happen! She can’t help but wonder who was responsible for all of this and just what they were thinking! She hopes that when the good guys catch up to them that they give them all good thumping!

Flying off with her charges in tow does make Goldstar happier. Flying makes her happy. At least this way she is contributing and helping out.

Reaching the open Plaza, Goldstar will land a safe distance away from the rampaging red meanie, unless Flux directs her to do otherwise.

“Try to stay of out his reach,” Flux instructs everyone.

“Okay!" Goldstar will fly to a point about thirty feet from Rage and start to hit him with her various energy blasts. Photon Blast at first and then working to the stronger attacks. Goldstar will only fire when she has a clear shot, as she doesn’t want to hit any of her new friends.

“Photon Blast!”

FROSTBITE
As Serena moves from body to body I cant help but to hope that My father is ok. I will have to call him when I get a chance to make sure he is ok,making a note to himself.

After listening to Major Stars speech Frostbite will reply "We will deal with them accordingly you can count on us." Hopefully not putting words in the others mouth.

Upon reaching the plaza the form of a sunburned 6'8 rage comes into sight. "This is not going to be easy."

Frostbite will concentrate on the ice shards that he threw at Mad Dog and target Rage. If it doesnt seem to effect him I will try doing it again but trying it with a little more power. Also I will Only "fire" if I have a clear shot not wanting to hit anyone except for rage.

Post by Serena »

Serena:

The stench of death fills the air. Unfortunately, Serena has witnessed battlefields filled with dead soldiers. But this is different. These are not soldiers who perished in combat. These were innocent souls struck down from some unknown magic.

Anger swelling in her chest, Serena clutches Blessed Salvation and points the Holy Sword straight up in to the sky. “I swear by the blood of these innocents that the party responsible for this shall be brought to justice!”

Afterwards, Serena wanders the street trying to give aid. She watches as the local healers arrive to examine the victims. They use strange tools that Serena has never seen before. Even stranger, they don’t appear to be casting any sort of spells. These healers don’t seem to have any more success than Serena.

Greatly sadden, Serena wanders back to those who did not go with Goldstar.

“Where do we go from here, comrades? I am stranger to this world and know little of your customs, but I am a strong force for good and justice.”

She looks at Serena as she returns, the sad expression on the woman's face matching the feelings insider herself. "There is much to grieve here, but there also remains the possibility of much to do. With all that's happened, there may be others in need of your help.

red is for rage

Post by Blackout »

Blackout:

After being set down by Goldstar near the rampaging red one, he will move to the right to try to get into a flanking position. Once the others open up with their attacks or if Blackout himself becomes Rage's target, he will throw his rod at Rage, heeding what was said before and keep this engagement at a distance.

"Parachute Jumps!"

Post by Bruce »

Flux:

"Major: in the event of securing prisioners or paitents where should they be taken?
I know of one person who might be able to cure the afflicted but I don't know if there's a limit to his abilities."

If the Major has no answer I will inform him of Yu's capabilities and ask if he knows where he is.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As we approach the area Rage is in I will tell the others my plan.
"I intend to drop off of Goldstar, increase Density to full , maintain small size and land on Red. (Tackle manuever) This will knock him down, I hope, keep me out of everyone's way, I hope, and give every one else better shots at Rage. "
Never thought I'd be doing parachute jumps again. I'm going to need buckets of ice for my knees tomorrow!

Eldrich Arcane

The flight over the city is swift, leaving little time for the bronze-skinned man to look for anything familiar. When he reaches the zone of combat, he releases his grip on Goldstar's foot and hovers above the red giant.
'This creature is impossibly strong. Even the be... the beh.....'
Alarmingly, though the image of a white furred humanoid throwing a boulder is clear in his mind the name of the beast will not come to him. Still, those brutes were nothing compared to the monster in human form below. It was breaking stone and metal alike without injury to itself!

Arcane readies eldrich bolts and activates the shielding amulet while remaining well above the conflict.

Post Continued:

Major Star responds to Flux:

"Bring them to the saucer wreckage site. That will be our base camp for the time being. Return there upon completing your mission. Good luck with your hunting!"

The Major knows of Yu, but hasn't seen his powers to neutralize the abilities of others yet. The last he knew, Yu was back at the saucer wreckage. (You guys saw Yu since the last time Major Star did.)

Returning once more to the open plaza that was the summoning area for the Nether Lord, the heroes spots the rampaging Rage ripping things apart with his bare hands. Flux lays out his plan of attack and the fun begins!

Goldstar hovers directly over Rage and Flux jumps off her shoulder, increasing his density as he plummets to the ground. Mini-Flux slams into Rage's chest like a meteorite, driving both men to the plaza floor with a tremendous crash. The force of the impact sends Flux tumbling away from the red skinned man. Rage himself is slightly woozy from the surprise attack and is lying on his back.

While that is going on, Goldstar sits Blackout down and then rises up into the air once more. With Rage an open target, the gold skinned hero fires off a blast of energy and cries out, "Photon Blast!" Unfortunately, the attack doesn't seem to have any affect on Rage.

Blackout tosses his rod from a safe distance, but it just seems to harmlessly bounce off Rage's thick skin.

Hovering overhead, Eldritch Arcane unleashes a blast of eldritch energy. This attack hurts Rage and he cries out in pain!

Frostbite skates in and around the prone Rage. He concentrates and shards of ice emerge from his hands striking the red skinned man. But much like many of the other attacks, Rage doesn't seem to be affected.

Rage rises to his feet looking for someone to pummel. He grabs a nearby bench and heaves it at Frostbite, but he simply skates away from the impromptu missile.

Goldstar retaliates with an Ion Blast but is wide of the mark. Blackout strikes Rage in the back of the head with his flung rod, but again it just seems to annoy the giant man.

Eldritch hits again and Rage grabs his head in pain once more. The big man is staggered and almost out on his feet. He's so distracted that he fails to see Flux rapidly growing underneath him. Flux lands a tremendous uppercut that sends Rage flying over forty feet. Rage crashes to the ground and is unmoving.

Frostbite tags him with more icy shards for good measure. Just like that, the battle is over. Goldstar will then carry Rage to the saucer wreckage and he's taken into PRIMUS custody.

GM Notes:

I'm going to assume that everyone meets back at the saucer wreckage eventually. That pretty much brings us (finally!) to the end of the opening scenario. There are still some minor trouble spots out there and major fall out from what happened here to deal with, but nothing that specifically requires full-fledged supers to solve. You can go out and help more should you so desire.

So, we're finally at the point where you guys can decide if you're going to join forces as a group or not. If so, then you're going to need to get yourselves organized. Pick a team name, pick a leader or team spokesmen. Lots to do!

Everything's pretty much in your court! So what's it going to be?

Oh, It & Yu haven't been seen since they left to investigate the strange lights down one of the other streets. The light has long since disappeared and all is quiet over there.

I'll hand out XP's in the next post.

Goldstar:

"Photon Blast!", Goldstar cries out as she fires upon Rage. Seeing that it doesn't even faze the big man, the heroine follows up with an, "Ion Blast!" To Goldstar's amazement that doesn't make any impression upon the rampaging red meanie either!

"Wow! He's one tough cookie! Time to kick it up another notch!"

Internal energies surge through Goldstar as she gathers the strength to unleash a potentially fatal Radiation Blast. However, it never comes to that as Flux and Frostbite puts the mad dog down!

Goldstar flies in and circles Rage making sure he's really down. Seeing that he is, Goldstar will cry out, "Stellar!", before landing.

"Way to go, guys! You were great!"

Goldstar will happily hug both Flux and Frostbite. Eldritch and Blackout will get the same treatment once they join us.

"We made a great team!"

After congratulating her friends, Goldstar will shift into Neutron Star form and carry Rage away to the mad-dogcatchers. She's not sorry to see him go!

Later, Goldstar is outside with everyone else.

"So what do we do now?"

Serena:

Outside the large structure known as Horton's Plaza, Serena speaks with Lily.

She looks at Serena as she returns, the sad expression on the woman's face matching the feelings insider herself. "There is much to grieve here, but there also remains the possibility of much to do. With all that's happened, there may be others in need of your help.

"Perhaps, if I can get that speed power thing to work again, I should search the area. If I find any injured people or other problems, I could return and let you know.

"Does that sound like a good idea?" Lily is very new to this whole 'superhero' concept, and isn't really sure what to do.

"A find suggestion, Lily. Yes let us see what aid we can lend to these poor unfortunates."

Together Serena and Lily go in search of those needing aid. They do find a few survivors that they help until the local healers can arrive, but for the most part it is a tremendous disappointment. Eventually, the pair finds themselves with the others back at the crash site.

"My friends, I find myself in a land that desperately needs heroes. This strange incident has slain many innocents and while still more have undergone fantastic changes. Together we may rend more aid than we could individually. What say you all?"

Flux:

As Rage goes down under the combination attack Flux takes the opportunity to look around carefully. From this vantage point he should be able to see Hellfire and the Monster if they are were they were before. If so he will want to collect them as well. ( I know Hellfire's gone, but the corpse of the Monster might be visible.)

Flux smiles when Goldstar enthuses over their victory.

"Yes, you were great. All of you. Red went down before he could hurt anyone."
And now maybe he'll get the help he needs, thinks Flux.

As everyone gathers together at the saucer site Flux looks for some of the others that helped out before; the flying man, and disappearing woman, Yu and It, even the demonic looking biker but they are not in evidence.

When Serena mentions banding together right after Goldstar does Flux waits for the reaction of these others who he has just met before adding anything.

This mess isn't over one way or another yet. San Diego needs all the help it can get. I'm sure Sam will understand. I can't stay in the dark forever. I hope he and his are all right. Have to sneak off for a quick phone call soon and find out.

Eldrich Arcane

The battle is quick. The red giant goes down and is taken away by the flying gold-skinned woman who effortlessly carried the others here.

Much about this battle confused him. The changing size of the one man, the control of cold from another, all without any magic source at all!

'How can any of this be possible? Is magic forbidden here? But then who guards the city? I will ask the Knight how things stand. I will not break the Law if it is so but I will depart to another fragment-assuming I can.

When the subject of joining together is raised he will agree.

"I too feel I must aid order and uphold justice. I do not know why I feel this strongly about it but I do. I will join any who ally themselves with the Knight of the Golden Chalice."

"I must point out however, that unless someone corrects the atmosphere soon this fragment will lose all it's viability."

{Make of that comment what you will}

Lily:

Lily does her best to scout the area for survivors, but there are far too few. She makes certain to swing over past where Yu and It had gone to investigate the strange lights, but there is no sign of either. Saddened and weary, Lily joins the others near the wreckage of the saucer (Lily refuses to refer to it, or even think of it, as a 'spaceship').

Serena's suggestion causes Lily's mind to immediately slip into lawyer-mode. She's no expert on metahuman affairs, but she is certain that there are numerous laws involved in such activities. "Exactly what are you proposing, Serena? Some kind of superhero team? I'm no expert, but I think it would be wise to look into the legalities before committing too far in that direction. Not that it's a bad idea, but it may be advisable to step carefully.

"Personally, I'm not certain how interested in joining up I would be; my inexperience and uncertainty about how all this is would affect other aspects of my life are a concern. However, since I'm a lawyer, I could at least assist in checking the applicable laws and regulations with regard to setting up such an organization. Would that be of interest to you?"

Frostbite

In reaction to Rage throwiung a bench at me "Awe your so kind, but I perfer to stand thanks!" as I skate away Unharmed.
With the battle over and rage knocked out, "Guess I was wrong about this being hard. Good Job everyone!" He will smile at Goldstar and hug her in return. "Think he will think twice before messing with us."

Frostbite will look around the area for any other threats if any. When he has a moment he will go to where Affrighter's body was when Goldstar wisked Flux and him away to meet her friends. If he seems to be still knocked out, I will call for the others and say, "We should take him to the saucer. He was one of those responsible for this mess."
If he is dead(assuming he saw flux land on him) He will simply throw him over his shoulder and bring his corpse to the saucer.

At the saucer site. When Serena mentions banding together to help out. Frostbite doesnt have to think twice about it. I dont see why we shouldnt,we do work rather well together. And Plus With the Steel squadron MIA and with PRIMUS having their plates full, There isnt really anyone else to deal with this mess."

Blackout:

As he catches his rebounding rod after the second accurate, yet ineffective attack, he taps on it to make sure it hasn't been hollowed out or something. "Hmmpphh... :?: "

At least the battle is over before he has to contemplate a different attack style, but it will be something worth thinking over. No one did get hurt on the hero side of things this time around, and that's a good starting point.

His thoughts are echoed when everyone assembles together once more. He will nod at the prospect of joining together. "A most honorable undertaking it would be for all of us."

Some quick GM Notes:

The Monster's body can be found. It looks as if his life force had been sucked from his body. It is rather gruesome to see his green flesh shrunken over his skeleton!

Affrighter is right where he as left and is just unconscious. He can be grabbed and taken back to the saucer site. PRIMUS will take him into custody from there.

When Goldstar initially carried Frostbite and Flux from the open plaza, the flying man flew off with the invisible woman and went off on their own.

Also, I should point out that Rage is very tough and can easily shrug off certain kinds of attacks. Its not that some of you guys weren't affective, but he's just that difficult to bring down. Eldritch had an attack that Rage had no defense against, and Flux with growth and density can be nasty!

I'm going to leave this post open a few days for you guys to get organized.

"Exactly what are you proposing, Serena? Some kind of superhero team? I'm no expert, but I think it would be wise to look into the legalities before committing too far in that direction. Not that it's a bad idea, but it may be advisable to step carefully."
"Superhero team?", Serena repeats as if she doesn't understand what exactly that word means. "I was only suggesting that like minded individuals join forces to accomplish more then they could alone. Why would such a thing be against the law?"
"On the contrary, Lily, you would be a boon to such a group. You have some amazing abilities that you need to grow accustomed to. Better to come to terms with them among friends then alone against enemies. From what I've seen, everyone can be helpful."

The Knight is even more confused by the bronze-skinned man's words:
'How can any of this be possible? Is magic forbidden here? But then who guards the city? I will ask the Knight how things stand. I will not break the Law if it is so but I will depart to another fragment-assuming I can. "
"Why would magic be forbidden? I too am new to this land. I know not who guards the city or what exactly laws are here. Lily here seems to know of the laws of this strange land, perhaps your questions could be answered by her?"
When the subject of joining together is raised he will agree. "I too feel I must aid order and uphold justice. I do not know why I feel this strongly about it but I do. I will join any who ally themselves with the Knight of the Golden Chalice."
"You are most welcome to join, my friend, but I feel my lack of knowledge of this world makes me inappropriate to lead such a band. Perhaps the giant would like the honor? He seems skilled in commanding others."
"I must point out however, that unless someone corrects the atmosphere soon this fragment will lose all its viability."
"I do not comprehend what you are saying, my friend. Fragment? Atmosphere?"

OOC:

Before anyone gets any ideas, Serena does NOT want to be the leader. She's too unfamiliar with Earth culture and be effective in such a position. Plus, I've been down that road before with Firestar. The team leader should be a PC.

He will smile at Goldstar and hug her in return. "Think he will think twice before messing with us."
"You betcha, frosty!"

Otherwise, Goldstar is content to spend time with her new friends.

OOC:

Goldstar is definitely NOT leader material, but you all knew that.

I should also point out that she also didn't say Mad Dog Catchers aloud, so you'll need to come up with a different team name.

Legal Perspectives

Lily:

Serena expresses confusion at Lily's remarks. While she has always considered the idea of people from other worlds or universes to be the stuff of bad science fiction, more and more it's becoming clear that such a thing may be true of this woman warrior. Of a certainty, she shows know sign of understanding any of the basic concepts of how this world works.

"I apologize if I wasn't more clear, Serena. 'Superhero team' is a term frequently used in this world to describe groups of people with abilities beyond those of the average person who choose to use those abilities for the common good. Such abilities are often referred to as superhuman, metahuman, or paranormal - though the latter is frequently specific to those of a mystic nature.

"Anyway, our government tends to prefer to keep law enforcement in the hands of its own duly-authorized agents. This, in theory, allows them to maintain control over the manner in which law enforcement activities are conducted, and ensure that they are done correctly - so as to reduce the number of mistakes and incidents of inappropriate enforcement behaviors. For the most part, it is understood that law enforcement against metahuman criminals frequently benefits from the assistance of helpful metahumans. Still, they tend to prefer metahuman assistance from those who work with the authorities and follow the same rules regarding how enforcement is conducted. Anyone who attempts to enforce the law on their own without proper authorization tends to be considered a 'vigilantee' and is frowned upon and may be treated as a criminal in their own right."

Serena's words regarding her worth to such a group are appreciated, and help to calm Lily's frayed nerves a bit. "Thank you, Serena. I appreciate your confidence in me. Certainly, getting some kind of training to help me master these new abilities - particularly if they prove to be permanent and not some kind of temporary quirk - is critical. Still, I am both a parent and a lawyer, and I haven't yet had a chance to assess how these changes may affect those facets of my life. Until I do, I don't feel comfortable committing myself to your proposed group. At the very least, I am willing to serve as legal counsel while I try to straighten out my personal life."

The words of the newly-met man floating in the air confuse Lily as well. "Huh? What do you mean? Is there some problem with the atmosphere that we are not aware of?"

Raw Recruits and Legal Eagles

Post by Bruce »

Flux:

"Seems we are in agreement on one thing", says Flux. "We work well together. The Steel Squadron managed to form without drawing any legal problems so there must be a way to manage it." Flux rubs his forehead through the ski mask remembering all the government forms he's filled out over the years.

"Probably a form on it in city hall somewhere. What we'll have to decide on is how to organize this."

Look at them, they have no idea how badly this can go wrong. Three of them don't seem to know anything about the world and they're all so young, untrained, unready. Not like me with my many minutes of experience. It's just like the Army again, raw recruits and good intentions. But if I walk away I'll feel responsible for anything that goes wrong later.....

"if we do this we have to stick with it. Once we commit we can't turn around later and quit. I doubt the people of San Diego would understand or forgive. Not after all this."

Sam will just have to understand I couldn't step away after today. Maybe if I explain it slowly...

"Miss Pak your understanding of law would be invaluable to all of us. If you have just acquired unusual abilities too then at least let us or someone you trust monitor your health and test your abilities. You wouldn't want any surprises coming up at the wrong time."

Flux scratches his head at mention of atmospheric problems.

"Thought the smog problem was pretty low today but that's just me."

Eldrich Arcane

The bronze-toned man is confused again! The Knight is new here? The giant is used to command? The one person he thought he understood is not a figure of authority here.

"Excuse my ignorance please, Lady Knight. But if you are new here some of these others must be native to this fragment."

He turns to face as many of the others as he can and speaks.

" The color of the sky is quite wrong as you must know. That is one of the warnings of an imminent failure of a Rune Plaque. Someone must not be tending it, or failing to tend it properly. If this warning goes unheeded sooner or later the gravity will cease and life here will not be possible"

"If the Rune Plaque cannot be repaired then evacuation to another fragment must begin soon. If the stable path of this large fragment is lost it most likely will collide with another, thereby threatening other lives as well!"

"I cannot remember if I ever knew how to do such a thing before, but I know I cannot do so in my present condition. If any of you know the condition or placement of the Rune Plaque please take me there so I may speak with the Keeper."

Eldrich Arcane gives every impression of honest urgency as he says all this.

'I hope they understand', he thinks to himself. 'If knowledge of the Rune Plaques has been lost somehow then I cannot think of what the consequences will be.'

Serena:

Lily:
"I apologize if I wasn't more clear, Serena. 'Superhero team' is a term frequently used in this world to describe groups of people with abilities beyond those of the average person who choose to use those abilities for the common good. Such abilities are often referred to as superhuman, metahuman, or paranormal - though the latter is frequently specific to those of a mystic nature.
“Ah,” the Knight says gaining some understanding. “From my land such groups are called Adventuring Bands.”

Much of the rest of Lily’s words go over Serena’s heads. “Why would anyone object to a group defending the weak and doing other good deeds?”
“Of course. Take all the time you need. Such a fellowship should allow members to come and go as they wish.”

Serena will approach Eldritch and attempt to calm the man.

“I am sorry, my friend, but I do not comprehend what you are saying. The sky has always been blue. What is this Rune Plaque of which you speak? Does anyone know of such things?”

Goldstar explains it all!

Post by Goldstar »

Goldstar:

“Fragments? What fragments? Of course the sky is blue, you silly! It’s supposed to be blue. It’s that way because of the light reflecting of the moisture in the air, or something like that.”

“Do you mean the planet? The Earth is spherical in shape and about 93 million miles from the sun. I can show you if you like!”

Gee! I thought I was supposed to be the loopy character around here! :D

Oh, and someone stop Goldie from taking Eldritch into orbit, please!

GREEN STEEL -

After Rage / Red Steel is beaten again and corraled by Goldstar, Green Steel will appear on the scene again. Green Steel will claim Red Steel from PRIMUS and fly off with him.

He will then return a short time later and collect all the bits from Red Steel and Blue Steel's armor and the shattered fragments of Grey Steel along with Black Steel's body. He will spend enough time combing the areas completely where each of them fell/were transmuted, using his enhanced computer senses as well.

Team Name

Post by Bruce »

Flux:

"Er, Goldstar, better hold off on sub-orbital trips for now," as he eyes the bronze colored man sideways.

"I don't know anything about Rune Plaques keeping us grounded. I thought gravity took care of that by itself," he says with a grin in his voice. "And the sky has been blue for oh, several centuries now. I don't wish to disturb you but perhaps you're not thinking clearly or suffering aftereffects of the energies released earlier."

Or maybe you're just crazy....

"In any case we are in no danger of falling off the world just now. Trust me."

Hoping that will put an end to further panic on the part of the stranger Flux offers his notion of a team name.

"...Sentries?" he tentatively suggests. "Hm. Too short. What is the nickname of San Diego? Does anybody know? Maybe we could incorporate that into the name."

"Speaking of names what's yours friend?"

GM Note:

I've yet to come across any nickname for San Diego. As for the name itself, apparently one of the early explorers who first sailed into San Diego Bay did so aboard ship called the "San Diego".

No, not much help.
Try it and find out!

"Er, Goldstar, better hold off on sub-orbital trips for now."
"Oh, okie!"

With that, Goldstar will simply stand there and observe what's going on occassionally adding comments here and there. She spies the man in the green armor showing up again and will cheerfully wave to him.

When the subject of a name comes up, Goldstar will toss in, "Hey, how about the Stars? That would be so stellar!"

Frostbite

Wondering what the Bronze skinned man is talking about,Frostbite will reply "Correct the atmosphere? What do you mean its fine except for a little smog.... Isn't it? Umm... What's a rune plaque, Do you mean planet? Keeper,I never really heard of a keeper." he will look around to the others to see if they understand it while thinking this guy is 5 cans short of a six-pack and the last ones crushed.

Flux mentions getting organized as a team, which Frostbite is all for. He will suggest " Maybe we could Ask Primus to fund us." When the topic of a team name comes up he will listen to everyone's suggestions and try to help in anyway he can.
"Sentries isn't bad but lets see what else we can come up with. How bout The San Diego Praetorians?" shrugging his shoulders as he says it.

OOC: know the name i came up with is a little old but thought it would somewhat fit, If I remember correctly they were the High Guards of the Roman Empire. Might have spelled it wrong

Lily:

Lily turns to the size-changing man who introduced himself as Flux. "You're right that I will need some help in coming to grips with these new abilities; I just don't know yet what the best way of doing that is. It may be that PRIMUS or some other government agency has facilities for such, or it may be that you people are my best opportunity. I'll have to look into it and find out what options are available to me."

Serena's question causes Lily to pause a moment. "I don't know how better to explain it to you. For now, perhaps you can accept it as just part of the nature of this place, and let me see what I can do about arranging the proper approvals so that you can proceed in your calling."

The bronze man's words are very strange; he seems as displaced as Serena, if not moreso. "I must agree with the others. I have lived in this city my whole life, and the sky has always been this color. I have never heard of a Rune Plaque or a Keeper, but I don't believe we are in any danger from the sky."

The discussion of team names strikes Lily as a bit premature, but she supposes it doesn't hurt to start thinking about it. "Well, I don't know if this helps, but the city motto is Semper Vigilans, which means 'Ever Vigilant'. You may be able to do something with that, though I don't recommend calling yourselves the Vigilantees.

"Also, the city was originally named for a Spanish Catholic saint, San Diego de Alcalá. One of the earliest buildings here was a mission named after him. Also, the first real civilian community was on Presidio Hill.

"Additionally, you might want to consider Spanish translations of various possible names. For example, 'defenders' would be los defensores and 'protectors' translates to los protectores. Similarly, 'sentries' or 'sentinels' is los centinelas, and 'guardians' becomes los guardianes."

Eldrich Arcane:

The bronze man is taken aback by the absolute conviction expressed by everyone that nothing is wrong. Even the people who must be native to this fragment insist that the warning of blue sky is normal.

The man invokes the Cloak of Floating to rise somewhat above the others to gain a moments thought.

"Excuse me for a moment, please."

'There are only a few conclusions possible from their reactions to my warnings.'

First, the blue sky warning has been left so long that everyone is used to it.'
A moments consideration dispels that notion. If the warning had been left that long then this fragment would have been long since uninhabitable.

'Second, this fragment is so isolated from the rest that it has lost all knowledge of history.'

Also not possible really. This place might seem strange but it is hardly a drift of backward primitives.

'Third, I have been moved backward to the time before the Shattering which fragmented the world.'

Since no one knows what the world was like from that time this could be true except for the wrong color of the sky and the fact that such travel is not known to be possible.

'Finally, the last and most likey conclusion: I am demented.'

Sadly, this explains all the discrepancies to him. His memory, already incomplete, is suspect and the memories he does have do not match the world that he sees or the certain knowledge of all the people he has met. It even explains where he first found himself.

'Yes, that must be the truth. Best to go to the ground and have myself sent back to the place I came from. No doubt I am unstable and a danger to the populence.'

Beletedly he recalls that the size changing man wanted a name from him, although most of the names he had heard were more like discriptions. Blackout, Frostbite, Flux, Goldstar....not true names at all. Yes he could provide that at least before departing. A name that discribes him.

When he drops back down he gives his new name to these new friends: Eldrich Arcane.
