Elfquest #30

At long last, the elves are face to face with Moorkroft, just not in a manner that they were expecting. The evil Archmage has taken possession of Lilia’s body! By doing that, he hoped to release the Mother Tree and be close enough to destroy her once and for all!

But what Moorkroft didn’t know might very well spell his downfall. Lilia, along with Kylie, Lia, Nariya, and Talen were granted the energy need to heal the Mother Tree by Corellon Larethian himself. This energy amplified the natural abilities of all involved and created a previously unknown connection between them all. Using this energy, Kylie aided by Lia, Talen, and Nariya reached out to Lilia and were drawn into her psyche. But Moorkroft is there too, and thus the showdown is immanent.

Lilia grasps just what is going on and wills herself to grow giant sized just like Moorkroft had. She throws her sword hand back and while doing so, a sword materializes in her hand! She then swings forward towards Moorkroft. However, he creates a shield to block her attack. Even though he wasn’t directly struck, the force of Lilia’s blow moves Moorkroft back several steps.

Talen creates a hand crossbow and moves to his right to have a clear shot.

Kylie conjures chains to bind Moorkroft’s body and a blindfold and gag to prevent spell casting. Moorkroft struggles with these for a moment and then wills them away. At the same time, he generates a blast of force that knocks Kylie and Lilia from their feet.

Using this as a distraction, Talen fires his hand crossbow and the bolt strike the evil mage! Lia doesn’t give him a chance to recover before and she strikes Moorkroft’s leg from seeming out of nowhere with a flaming longsword!

Moorkroft spins, giving Nariya an open. She’s also grown to the giant size of Lilia and is rushing forward with an equally giant spear in her hand! The spear puncture’s Moorkroft in his side and emerges from the other side of his psychic body. Blood sprays the immediate area.

But even that isn’t enough to keep Moorkroft down. He mentally repairs some of the damage done with one hand, while he sends Nariya flying off with just a gesture.

By now Kylie has regained her wits and once more enchains Moorkroft, stopping him from healing himself. Talen lands another bolt and Lia drives her flaming longsword into the mages other leg.

Lilia rushes in once more just as Moorkroft removes his bonds again. She swings her sword in a wide arc and it connects at Moorkroft’s neck, neatly severing his head. Moorkroft’s head goes flying off bouncing several times before it rolls to a stop. His body stands there for several seconds and then falls.

All is quiet for several moments and the elves draw closer to Moorkroft’s body. It starts to twitch and his arms begin to move! His body is trying to crawl its way back to its head!

The elves lash out once more with their weapons and Moorkroft moves no more. The body shrinks and turns to mist and harmlessly drifts away. The head is likewise destroyed.

After that, the elves become aware of the presence of others here on this psychic plane. The first is a tall male elf of truly unearthly beauty and grace. He wears a sky blue cloak and an amulet showing a crescent moon motif hangs about his neck. A pair of dazzling battle gauntlets is on his wrists. There is little doubt that this is Corellon Larethian himself, the Father of All-Elves.

Riding beside him on a majestic unicorn is an unearthly beautiful woman in woodsman clothes. In Lilia and Nariya’s eyes, the woman is an exotic elfin maiden, while Kylie, Lia, and Talen see a half-elf.

Lingering behind the two and not approaching any closer is a tall, naked, and exotic drow maiden. She stands at least nine feet tall and has ankle-length, sweeping hair of glowing silver.

“Moorkroft is defeated,” Corellon will say. “You have done very well. Very well, indeed. When you awaken, you will be able to give the Mother Tree the energy that she needs to survive. You’re mission has been completed. I knew I could count on you.”

“We used Moorkroft’s own treachery to defeat him,” the maiden on the unicorn adds. “Here in this place he wasn’t strong enough to defeat you all. Your love and compassion for each other was more than he could bear. Even worse he choose the body of one who hated human mages. He set up the circumstances of his own defeat and will trouble you no longer. Although those things he put into motion will remain. The Sylvan Realm is not safe just yet. Moorkroft’s army still remains and the aid of those of you who choose to remain the Sylvan Realm will be needed. But you will not be alone, as the other elves will return as well. Eventually everything will be as it should have been.”

“You will be rewarded for your service,” Corellon continues. “Once the Mother Tree has been freed, all you need to do is meditate before her and your reward will be given. Tell the others with you to do the same, as they also played a role in this.”

“Except for you, my daughter,” Corellon says turning to face Lilia. “I know what your heart desires and what has been missing from you all along. Your secret wish will be granted.”

“Go now,” Ehlonna states. “The Mother Tree awaits you.”

With that, the psychic world fades around you.

Back out in the real world, all is quiet. Jewel, the unicorns, and the brownies along with Sherwood, Laucian, and Valena keep watch. Overhead, the battle between the black dragon and the rocs rages. After a time you become aware of wyvern riders flying overhead too, but the griffons intercept them. Slowed by their riders, the griffons tear into the wyverns and riders forcing them to retreat.

Words from Jewel attract every one’s attention. “It is over with. Moorkroft has been defeated.”

Looking back to the others from Jewel, you can see Nariya, Lia, Kylie, and Talen moving once more.

The change is Lilia is even more dramatic. The black robe she wore and the staff that she possessed are gone. She now wears elegant elfin chain mail with her elfin boots. Her cloak is now sky blue in color and a medallion with a crescent moon on it hangs about her neck. A longsword rests in its scabbard around her waist and a longbow is on her back. The Star Crown is still on her brow.

“Welcome back children,” Jewel gratefully says, hugging each of you as goes. “Come, the Mother Tree needs you.”

GM Notes:

And thus Moorkroft meets his well-deserved end the Elf Quest proper nears it end. Now is the time to start thinking about what direction your characters are going to go in next. There are more adventures to be had here in the Sylvan Realm, or you can return to Cynalon. You can remain as a group or go it alone. The choice is yours.

I wanted to give Kylie, Nariya, Lia, and Talen time to consider what rewards they will receive, as there is a great many choices to be had. As noted in the post, Lilia was already rewarded.

Here are some of your options. You might think of others, so mail me and we’ll talk about it and iron out something satisfactory.

Kylie, Lia, and Talen can be changed into full elves, should they so desire. Given Lia’s faith, she’d be a full-blooded drow. If you choose this, you lose all your half-elf traits, but then can buy elf ones to replace them. In all aspects, you’d be elves. Naturally, this does option does not apply to Nariya.

Other options for those who held Corellon’s energy are to spend 20 more points on race and class abilities. The half-elves can buy full-blooded elfin abilities to augment their half-elfin ones. For example, half-elves spend 5 pts to gain 30% resistance to charm and sleep spells. A full elf spends 10 pts to gain 90% resistance. So, the half-elves could spend 5 pts to gain the full 90% resistance, provided that they already possessed 30% resistance.

Alternatively you can raise any stat or stats by a total of 2 pts.

Another alternative is requesting a unique magic item.

Or a combination of the two, such as raising 1 stat and using 10 pts to buy class and racial abilities.

Lots of choices and lots to think about, so take your time. No need to rush into it.

Laucian, Valena, and Sherwood will gain a lesser reward for their service. They can either raise 1 stat by 1 pt, or buy 10 more pts of racial or class abilities. Or email me if you have something special in mind.

Once you have made your choice, meditate before the Mother Tree and your reward will be given.

Oh, and feel free to ask questions of Corellon, Ehlonna and Eilistraee if you’ve got them.

Now what?

Nariya:

Behind Lilia, Kylie, Lia, Nariya, and Talen appear, all drawn together by the energy they possess. As they take in the scene, the voice of Jewel whispers in their ears, even though the woman is nowhere to be seen.

"This is a place of will and imagination," Jewel states. "Just think it and it will occur. These are the weapons with which you can defeat Moorkroft!"

Taking words to heart, Nariya 'sees' the perfect path to get to Moorkroft unhindered. As she takes this path, she grows in size following Lilia's example. The spear she chooses is massive, able to fell the foulest of dragons. She waits patiently, arriving at the end of her path right at the perfect spot to strike.

The spear is driven deep but Moorkroft isn't down. Nariya can hardly believe it, and he makes a simple dismissal motion with his hand and she is hurtled away. Before she can regain her feet though, it is over. The others finish him off and make sure he can never come back.

Shortly after there are three figures that appear before them. It is humbling to Nariya to see exactly who they must be. It is all she can do to even listen to the words being spoken, so great is the presence of them.

“Moorkroft is defeated,” Corellon will say. “You have done very well. Very well, indeed. When you awaken, you will be able to give the Mother Tree the energy that she needs to survive. You’re mission has been completed. I knew I could count on you.”

Nariya is overcome with the joy of this. She is speechless, but listens to the rest of the explaination. A reward? She can hardly imagine what she would want, seeing that saving the tree and all the realm is what really mattered.

"You look truly radiant," Nariya tells Lilia after a moment. Such a drastic change. She hardly even registers Jewel's words, but they're not quite done yet. Nariya joins the others to finish healing the tree.

"I think I should like to remain here for a time," Nariya says after thinking a bit, looking over at Laucian first before the others. "There is much here still to do and many places for me to see. Plus all the paths to find," she says the last with a smile. Depending on what the others decide will influence what she says next..
Put away that silly map, city-boy. I know a faster way.

Lia

Hearing Jewel’s words, Lia wonders how true they are as she imagines herself vanishing from sight. Within a moment a feeling comes over her she never felt before as her longsword springs into her hand. Within moments the amber flames lash out from her sword licking and dancing up and down her blade.
‘It is time you paid for your crimes.’ She thinks to herself as she moves forward silently. She watches as a bolt from her brother rips into him seeing the opportunity she takes a swing of her Long sword.
Using this as a distraction, Talen fires his hand crossbow and the bolt strike the evil mage! Lia doesn’t give him a chance to recover before and she strikes Moorkroft’s leg from seeming out of nowhere with a flaming longsword!
“I will have you a piece at a time, if need to be.” She almost growls as Nariya’s spear punctures his chest.

Yet amazingly the mage still lives!! A second bolt rips into his flesh as she lashes out with her Flamesword cutting a deep gash in his other leg.

Then Lilia ever so sweetly removes his head as it bounces off and yet the body still clings to life!! Driving her sword into the mages headless body over and over till it shrinks into nothingness.

Lia looks at the figures walking towards them her eyes narrow and untrusting, Could it be a trick? No, This is not she finally decides lowering her sword as the flames diminish. Her eye linger not on the Unicorn riding female or The majestic male elf. But on the naked exotic Drow Female walking behind them. So many questions run through her head as she hears Corellon’s words.

Seeing Eliistrate for the second time makes her heart and spirit soar, Slowly she sheathes her sword upon her hip and kneels before her Patron. “It is an honor and a privelage, Dark Maiden.” Tentatively looking up upon her 9 foot body. “Corellon speaks of a reward for our service to you, though I hesitate to take such a gift, I can’t help but wonder. I wish to honor you and my grandmother, Is it possible to become one of your children? I wish to truly carry the burden of our people, though the world may shun me for it.” Swallowing she looks up hopefully at Eilistraee, “I wish to shed my human side and become a Drow, but I am scared. if I am granted such a gift will those who knew me still see that it is me?” Wondering if her brother and grandmother as well as all her friends know it is her and not some stranger wishing to do them harm.

Rising slowly to her feet, “I will always treasure this moment and keep it close to my heart.”

Shaking her head she looks around wondering if it was but a dream but then she spots Lilia in the garb of Corellon and suddenly her thoughts diminish as she lets out a wide smile as she looks to the others and hugs Jewel in return.

Lia will go to the Mother tree and get ready to relinquish the energy that she was given so long ago.

“I know not where the road will rise up to meet me. There is still much in this world to see and many whom need guidance from past wrongs. Though I am not sure how to go from here.” Lia will look to the others and will make up her mind later on as to which path she wishes to take.
The last thing you shall hear is the bladesong of my sword.

To Save Mother Tree

Post by Kylie »

Kylie:

The battle of wills with Moorkroft is engaged! On this psychic plane, their weapons are anything they can imagine. Kylie attempts to bind and gag Moorkroft as the others attack. She can feel his will struggling against hers for a moment, then he wipes them away. Before she can reengage, he blasts her away with a bolt of power. Still, this gives the others a bit of an opening, and they take advantage of it, wounding the mad mage.

Dragging her battered body up off the ground, Kylie rebinds Moorkroft before he can heal his wounds. Her companions renew their assault, culminating in Lilia sweeping his head from his body with her giant sword. Moorkroft's psychic body shivers for a few moments, then collapses.

Kylie breathes a sign of relief. "Is that it? Is he really dead?"

Not wanting to take any chances, the others - lead by Lia - carve the lifeless body into bloody slivers. Kylie focusses on the head instead, using her will to disintegrate it into dust.

Moments later, they are joined on the psychic plane by a trio of unearthly beauty. Kylie stares, dumbfounded, at what she knows must be deities - even though she's not immediately sure of the identies of all of them. Overcome by the spectacle and wonder of these three, she collapses to her knees, her body sagging from weariness and emotional strain.

Corellon - for she has met him before and thus recognises him - speaks of their victory and of rewards, though Kylie has trouble focussing on it. Still, she has no doubt that his words will remain with her for the rest of her life. Bravely, Lia approaches the drow-looking elf and makes her request, though Kylie is too dazed - or perhaps it is too personal to speak aloud - to hear what it is. The female on the unicorn - whom Kylie suspects is Ehlonna - bids them goodbye, and the three gods depart.

This strange place fades away with them, and Kylie finds herself back in the company of the entire group.
Jewel wrote:“Welcome back children,” Jewel gratefully says, hugging each of you as she goes. “Come, the Mother Tree needs you.”
Kylie nods quietly, rising tiredly to her feet. She climbs the platform and descends into the depression where the Mother Tree waits, its pain and sadness battering at her. Once the others join her, she will push Corellon's energy out of herself and into Mother Tree.

Now, perhaps she will finally find out whether her mother yet lives within the Rainbow Bridge...
________________________________________________________________
Not really sure yet what Kylie will do next. It may depend at least partly on what happens with Mother Tree and her own mother. My personal inclination is to stay here for a while, though we'll see what happens.

Lilia the Prietess

Post by Lilia »

Lilia:

Psychic sword in hand, Lilia rushes to attack the vile mage who violated her body. Hatred unlike any she’s ever felt rises up in her. Moorkroft blocks the attack, but the hatred behind it forces him back. Kylie attempts to bind the mage, but he breaks free and then knocks both of us back from the battle.

The others step in taking the battle to Moorkroft with the effort punctuated by Nariya driving her giant spear into the enemy.

It becomes clear to Lilia that while Moorkroft’s will is so great that he can withstand and perhaps even defeat two or three of us in a battle, he cannot best all five of us. No matter whom he dispatches, two or three others are there to continue to fight. His will continues to be worn down while we can recover.

Due to this, the final outcome is never in doubt. Lilia settles the issue with her sword, severing the head from the body. But evil’s will is strong and Moorkroft struggles to put himself back together. The body and head are further damaged and Moorkroft can no longer hold himself together. He’s blown away on the psychic wind like a bad dream.

Lilia gratefully turns toward her friends and companions. Her feelings towards them have changed over this long journey. Some she barely knew, others she didn’t really like at all. But now they are all true friends and she’d defend each of them to the death. Lilia’s life since leaving the Elfholds has been a long and strange road.

Before Lilia can say anything to them we have visitors. She knows Corellon well by now, as this will be the fourth time she’s been in his presence. The first time really shook her to her core and it was then that she started to wonder about the choices she’s made in her life. Each further contact has made her realize that she was meant to go in another road than the path she had started down.

With Corellon is Ehlonna, his half-elfin daughter from a tryst with Silvanus. Being a goddess, she can appear as she wishes and commonly can be seen as an elf, a half-elf, and even a human. In Lilia’s eyes she is an exquisite elf maiden on the back of a regal unicorn.

Lastly, there is Eilistraee, another daughter of Corellon. Her mother became Lolth, the highest goddess of the drow. But unlike her mother, Eilistraee never gave up hope of her followers rejoining the surface elves.

The god speak, but much of what they say Lilia had already deduced.
Corellon wrote:“Except for you, my daughter,” Corellon says turning to face Lilia. “I know what your heart desires and what has been missing from you all along. Your secret wish will be granted.”
“Thank you, father,” Lilia gratefully answers. Thoughts of this changed had been with her for a long time. Now, Corellon makes them real and Lilia’s life is forever changed.
The change is Lilia is even more dramatic. The black robe she wore and the staff that she possessed is gone. She now wears elegant elfin chain mail with her elfin boots. Her cloak is now sky blue in color and a medallion with a crescent moon on it hangs about her neck. A longsword rests in its scabbard around her waist and a longbow is on her back. The Star Crown is still on her brow.
Once back in the real world, Lilia cannot help but stare at herself. Her very clothing has changed and she’s now wearing elfin chain mail armor. The holy symbol of Corellon hangs around her neck. Her shortsword is now a longsword and her Manabow is now the size of a longbow.
Nariya wrote:"You look truly radiant," Nariya tells Lilia after a moment. Such a drastic change. She hardly even registers Jewel's words, but they're not quite done yet. Nariya joins the others to finish healing the tree.
“Thank you, Nariya,” Lilia answers. “I feel different, but good. I am happy. The blessings of the All-Father are upon us all.”

Gathering her wits about her, Lilia will say, “Come friends, let us complete our quest and restore the Mother Tree.”

Lilia will make her way down to the Mother Tree underneath the Crystal Platform. Once she and the others are ready, she’ll lay hands on the Mother Tree giving her the energy she needs to survive.

Once the deed is done, talk of what path we are to take next arises.

“I will be remaining in the Sylvan Realms for the foreseeable future,” Lilia will state. “I have much to learn in the service of Corellon and there is much to do here in the Realms.”

Turning to Sherwood, Lilia will say. “I am grateful for all that you have shown me in our time together, Sherwood Elf Friend. My life has changed for the better.”

Reaching up, Lilia will remove the Star Crown from her brow. She looks at it for a moment and then hands it to Sherwood.

“I no longer need this,” Lilia will say. “Corellon is the patron of elfin magic and I will still be learning its ways. My mage skills do remain, but I no longer hunger for that kind of power. Give this to someone who can make better use of it.”

---

Lilia is now a tri-classed character picking up Priestess of Corellon Larethian, in addition to fighter and transmuter. Her stats have changed significantly too.

Talen

Talen:

Talen doesn’t really understand what is going on, but that doesn’t stop him from trying to help. He uses his crossbow to fire bolts after bolt into Moorkroft. Finally the mage goes down from the relentless assault and is permanently destroyed.

Then they are visited by not one, but three gods! It’s almost too much to comprehend and Talen finds himself unable to say anything.

Soon we are back in the real world and Lilia has seeming been transformed into a priestess.

Seeing Kylie on her knees, Talen will go to her and offer his hand.

“Come on,” he’ll say softly. “Let’s finish this and free your mother.”

Joining the others Talen will give the Mother Tree the energy he was given.

Talen has no set plans as of yet.

Valenia:

Valena is a spectator as the final battle if fought. Overhead the rocs are fighting the dragon, while the griffons are engaged against wyvern riders. She wishes them all well in the struggle.

The chosen five can move again and the change in Lilia’s appearance is startling. She now has the holy symbol of Corellon Larethian on her! Somehow she’s become a priestess of the All-Father. Perhaps now she’ll find happiness.

After the Mother Tree is restored, talk about what we are to do next comes about.

“I shall be staying as well,” Valenia will state. “There is much to do here and I will do my part.”

As for a reward, Valenia already has something in mind. A very special mount…

Sherwood:

Wondering just what is going on, Sherwood can only watch. Finally, Jewel announces that it is over and the five who were frozen can move again. The change in Lilia is dramatic. It appears that she’s become a priestess of the elfin father.

The five restore the Mother Tree and afterwards thoughts turn towards the future. Many of those here plan to remain in the Sylvan Realm, which does not surprise Sherwood.

“I have my homeland to return to,” Sherwood states. “We have more than our fair share of problems to deal with there. I’ll be taking the barge and the Spell Engine with me. I am glad that I was able to help out the elfin people in this task.”
Lilia wrote:Turning to Sherwood, Lilia will say. “I am grateful for all that you have shown me in our time together, Sherwood Elf Friend. My life has changed for the better.”
“Then I am happy for you, Lilia.”

Sherwood is genuinely surprised by this, but makes no comment. He accepts the Star Crown and stares at it for a moment.

“No,” he says, handing it back. “This is an artifact of the elfin people. It was made by elves and belongs with the elves. I am sure that there will be a suitably powerful sorceress among the elves who return to make use of this.”

Laucian

Laucian can only watch as the battle overhead continues as the Wyrven riders arrive quickly getting ripped apart by the griffons. Silenly he wishes he could be among them, though he knows just how unskilled he is to do so.

The Five chosen finally remove, though the change in them is not apparent minus that of his kinsman. His eyes linger upon Lilia as she is garbed as a priest of Corellon.

Laucian stays where he is keeping his bow knocked and looks for trouble as the others go forth and restore the mother tree.

There is talk of what do after the mother tree is restored, Nariya watches him as he debates his options as a thought of one so far away breaches his minds eye. “I will go where Ehlonna’s will carries me.” he says evenly.

As the others tell him of a reward for his service, he can only think of two things. The hopes of seeing his father once again, if he still lives or a special mount.

Psychic Plane:

Moorkroft has finally been defeated. The vile Archmage was defeated by his own deceptive practices. He Magic Jarred himself into Lilia’s body, but she didn’t have to fight him alone as the five chosen by Corellon were all linked together. On a mental plane the five battled Moorkroft and utterly defeated him.

Afterwards a trio of gods who have a great interest in this project appear. They are Corellon himself, along with his daughters Ehlonna and Eilistraee. Conversation is sparse as the chosen are too overwhelmed by the presence of the gods to really speak.

Lia, however, does approach her patron.
Lia wrote:Seeing Eilistraee for the second time makes her heart and spirit soar, slowly she sheathes her sword upon her hip and kneels before her Patron. “It is an honor and a privilege, Dark Maiden.”

The Dark Maiden lovingly gazes upon her follower. Eilistraee’s very long hair does cover her body up somewhat. When she speaks her voice is musical in tone.

“No, child, you honor me through your words and deeds.”
Lia wrote:Tentatively looking up upon her 9-foot body. “Corellon speaks of a reward for our service to you, though I hesitate to take such a gift, I can’t help but wonder. I wish to honor you and my grandmother, Is it possible to become one of your children? I wish to truly carry the burden of our people, though the world may shun me for it.”
“Such a thing is possible,” Eilistraee will say. “Many are the benefits you will gain, but alas many are the burdens you will be taking up.”
Lia wrote:Swallowing she looks up hopefully at Eilistraee, “I wish to shed my human side and become a Drow, but I am scared. If I am granted such a gift will those who knew me still see that it is me?” Wondering if her brother and grandmother as well as all her friends know it is her and not some stranger wishing to do them harm.
“It is the wise being who looks beyond appearances to what lies within, child. Those who know you and love you will accept you. Only your appearance will have been changed, not what lies within. Prepare yourself.”

The Dark Maiden begins to dance about Lia, generating a cloud of silvery radiance as she goes. Eilistraee sings as well. Her voice is perhaps the purest that you have ever heard. Her song has an unearthly beauty to it and some of those present will be driven to tears by it. There is also an undeniable erotic quality to the dance as Eilistraee has the beauty of a goddess and she is naked.

The dance ceases, the song fades, and the radiance dissipates. When Lia can be seen again, she has the glossy black skin of a drow elf. She retains her height, but her hair and eyes have changed color as part of her transformation.
Lia wrote:Rising slowly to her feet, “I will always treasure this moment and keep it close to my heart.”
The Dark Maiden smiles and steps away. “Be true to yourself, child and in turn you will be true to me.”

The Mother Tree:

Back in the real world, the fighting continues above the great elfin forest. But there is no danger on the forest floor. The Chosen Five descend below the Crystal Platform to where the Mother Tree awaits them.

“We had best move back a safe distance,” Jewel tells those who remain behind. “It will not be safe for us shortly.”

The ethereal stairs lead down to the chamber holding the Mother Tree. The room is sparse. There is a bed along one wall, along with a table, chair. A small bookcase holds a few books. This was the sleeping area for the Keeper, the elf who remained behind to tend to the Mother Tree. The Keeper was captured and then later killed by Moorkroft many years ago. Without the Keeper to tend to the Mother Tree, she began to die.

(Editor’s Note: The Keeper’s body was found in the manticore cave many posts ago, starting with #10.)

The Chosen draw closer and encircle the Mother Tree. Then they reach out, touching the Mother Tree. The energy in their bodies is unleashed and each of you is drained considerably. You’re vaguely aware of the ground shaking and movement, but can’t really comprehend just what is going on.

The story is very different from the outside. There is a flash of light when the energy is transferred and then the ground begins to tremble. A great and majestic tree erupts from the ground and rapidly grows into the sky! The entire Crystal Platform is lift up into the air and carried high into the trees. It is soon lost from sight.

The Mother Tree has been restored and she has grown back to her normal height in just the space of a few heartbeats. The Mother Tree towers over everything in the Sylvan Realm, easily reaching over 1000 feet in height! That’s nearly three times taller than any other tree in the Sylvan Realm.

With the Mother Tree restored, the elves can no longer feel her pain, but rather her love. It’s briefly overwhelming, but you quickly become accustomed to it.

The Chosen now find themselves within the Heart of the Tree. The tiny tree that they just touched is now a healthy and leafy branch. The Heart of the Tree is it’s metaphysical heart, just like any living being. While no words are spoken, you can feel the gratitude and love of the Mother Tree.

The Ethereal Stairs are gone, but now natural wooden ones are there. After climbing up these stairs, you emerged from the gigantic trunk of the Mother Tree unto one of her branches. The branches of the Mother Tree are the width of streets, so staying safely on them is not an issue.

Not far away, at the end of a great branch sits the Crystal Platform, now elevated high into the sky. It’s been restored to its proper glory and it twinkles in the sunlight.

A rainbow arcs in from the sky and it strikes the Crystal Platform, the light splitting off into its various colors. As it does so beings begin to appear on the platform’s surface. They step off the platform in understandable confusion. Their mission was to restore the Mother Tree, but it has already been done.

As the group moves closer, more and more elves arrive. There’s at least seventy of them thus far, all members of the previous failed expeditions. These elves will note Lia’s presence with great concern.

Kylie weaves her way through the crowd and then finally spots who she was looking for. Not looking any different than the last time she saw her, Kylie sees her mother.

Those looking out over the Sylvan Realm will see that the griffons have driven off the wyvern riders. The rocs have likewise slain the black dragon.

Further out in the forest, the trees that held elfin spirits release their slumbering guests. These elves step out to greet a new day where the Mother Tree has been restored to her full glory. Grateful, but confused, they begin to make their way back to the site of the Mother Tree.

GM Notes:

Lia has received her gift and is now a drow elf. I’ll need to know what new hair and eye color she has taken on. Drow commonly have white hair, although silver and copper-hue hair is possible.

Eyes are typically red, but green, brown, black, gray, amber, blue and purple are possible.

Teeth may be white, black, or purple with the gums, tongues, and throats being pink, red, or purple.

The choice is yours in this matter.

Eilistraee also altered Lia’s armor, so that it has a motif more in keeping with her faith.

Now what?

Lilia the Leader?

Post by Lilia »

Lilia:
The Dark Maiden begins to dance about Lia, generating a cloud of silvery radiance as she goes. Eilistraee sings as well. Her voice is perhaps the purest that you have ever heard. Her song has an unearthly beauty to it and some of those present will be driven to tears by it. There is also an undeniable erotic quality to the dance as Eilistraee has the beauty of a goddess and she is naked.
The beautiful and unearthly song does draw Lilia away from the avatars of Corellon and Ehlonna. She’s understandably puzzled by what is transpiring, but is sure that nothing malevolent will happen to Lia. The song is sad and for the first time in her life, Lilia begins to fathom the pain Eilistraee must feel for what became of her children. The dance and song ends and Lia is transformed into a full drow!

“It appears that I am not the only one changed by our journey,” Lilia will say to Lia. “I wish you well on the new road you have taken up. I cannot say that I would have had the strength to do the same.”
Sherwood wrote:Sherwood is genuinely surprised by this, but makes no comment. He accepts the Star Crown and stares at it for a moment.

“No,” he says, handing it back. “This is an artifact of the elfin people. It was made by elves and belongs with the elves. I am sure that there will be a suitably powerful sorceress among the elves who return to make use of this.”
Lilia will smile and laugh lightly at Sherwood’s comments. “You are a wise man, Sherwood Elf-Friend, far wiser than I ever gave you the credit for. I will see that this artifact is made ready to an elfin mage worthy of it.

Joining the others, we enter the chamber underneath the Crystal Platform and give our energy to the Mother Tree. The burden of carrying that energy is lifted, but we are weakened from the experience. The chamber shakes and there is a sense of moving.

Once we are able to focus again, it becomes clear that the Mother Tree has grown to gigantic proportions and that we’re not high in the sky! The Mother Tree towers over the entire Sylvan Realm! Even Lilia is surprised at just how large the Mother Tree has become. She’s like a town to herself and her branches are the size of streets.

Looking off in the distance, we can see the rocs defeat the black dragon and the griffons drive away the Wyvern Riders.

Not far away the Crystal Platform now sits high above the ground. It shines in the sunlight, its facets splitting light into various colors. A rainbow streaks in from out the sky. In its wake, dozens of elves sent to restore the Mother Tree via the Rainbow Bridge have finally arrived. With the Crystal Platform broke and in the wrong position, they could not complete their journey.

The new arrivals are understandable confused and concerned upon seeing Lia. Kylie rushes off in search of her mother. Gathering up her courage, Lilia will stand before the elves and speak.

“Welcome to the Sylvan Realm brothers and sisters. I am I am Lilliathelionn Allandros of Clan Grunalf. I know that this is not what you were expecting and that you are understandable confused. I will do my best to explain.”

“The receiving end of the Rainbow Bridge was damaged. Once you entered it in the Elfholds, there was no way for you to complete your journey to the Sylvan Realm. Thus you were ‘stuck’.”

“More and more of you were sent until the All-Father decided that a new approach was required. To that end, he appeared to me my comrades. He gave us the energy to restore the Mother Tree and commanded that we travel here overland, bypassing the Rainbow Bridge.”

“I know that might come as a surprise to many of you. Yes, my companions are indeed elves, dark elves, and those of mixed elfin heritage. The All-Father minded not. All elves do come from his blood. We are all his children and he is our father. As long as they are allies in our cause, then they should be treated with the respect given to any of our elfin brothers and sisters.”

“We made the long journey from the Elfholds to the Sylvan Realm, assisted by a human of great skill. Some of you may know him as Sherwood Elf-Friend. We travelled by magic and the journey took us a week.”

“We found a puzzle had been left behind. Twelve medallions needed to be recovered so that the Mother Tree could be reached. Attempting to thwart us was Moorkroft, the mad mage who would see the Mother Tree destroyed.”

“Since we are all standing here, you can see that we succeeded. The Mother Tree has been restored. Moorkroft himself as been defeated, but his armies still remain. There remains much yet to do. The Sylvan Realm needs to be secured against her enemies. Broken alliances need to be re-forged. Our homeland needs heroes to help restore her. It is my hope that with your assistance we can accomplish this task. Will you join me in this task?”
Either by my magic or my bow you WILL fall!

To Save Mother Tree

Her song has an unearthly beauty to it and some of those present will be driven to tears by it. The dance ceases, the song fades, and the radiance dissipates. When Lia can be seen again, she has the glossy black skin of a drow elf. She retains her height, but her hair and eyes have changed color as part of her transformation.
Kylie watches, entranced as the dark goddess dances erotically about Lia singing a song of such beauty that it brings tears to Kylie's eyes. Kylie loses track of time as she watches the performance. Still, it ends, as do all things. Shaking her head to clear it, Kylie looks up to see what has become of Lia, only to find a drow standing in her place.

"Lia? Is that you?" Though the look is different, her features are still recognisable. "I don't know what to say. This is a bold, brave choice. Still, you are friend and this doesn't change that. Your road may be hard, but I will stand by you as a friend."
Talen wrote:Seeing Kylie on her knees, Talen will go to her and offer his hand.

“Come on,” he’ll say softly. “Let’s finish this and free your mother.”
"Thank you, Talen," Kylie says, accepting his hand and rising to her feet. She doesn't release his hand immediately.
Lilia wrote:“Thank you, Nariya,” Lilia answers. “I feel different, but good. I am happy. The blessings of the All-Father are upon us all.”

Gathering her wits about her, Lilia will say, “Come friends, let us complete our quest and restore the Mother Tree.”
"I agree," Kylie says. "I don't fully understand this transformation, Lilia, but you look happier than I've seen you in a long time and I sense that you have entered a wonderful new phase in your life. I'm very happy for you." Kylie offers her friend a hug, unsure of whether she will accept.

They descend into the pit wherein stands the dying Mother Tree. Together, the five companions return Corellon's Gift to the tree. The results are immediate and striking. The ground rumbles and the Mother Tree grows at an allarming rate, carrying the companions with it! The experience is both frightening and exhiliarating. It is also quite draining and Kylie slumps to her knees, her head hanging in weariness.

When the motion stops, they find themselves within the heart of the tree. The warmth and love emitting from the tree do much to offset the fatigue of the day.

Emerging from the heart of Mother Tree, Kylie realizes that they are now on a huge branch, far above the forest floor. Further out on the branch sits the Crystal Platform, now restored to it's original beauty and function. As they watch, and rainbow streaks in from the sky and melds into the platform. Almost immediately, elves begin to materialize from the rainbow and hope floods into Kylie's heart. The newly arrived elves move from the platform as more and more arrive behind them.

Unable to wait any longer, Kylie races in among the arriving elves, searching every face for that of her mother. Tension rises as she searches, her heart aching with every face that isn't hers. There are so many! Finally, Kylie spots the face of her mother, unchanged even amidst these long years. Racing over, she throws her arms around her mother in a big hug. "Oh, mom! It is so wonderful to finally find you; I can hardly believe it is true." Tears of joy are running down her face. "I have missed you so much!"

Sherwood:

Apparently Lilia’s change isn’t the only surprise to come when the five chosen ones return. Lia has been transformed into a full drow!

“Lia? Are you okay? Is this what you wanted?”
“We had best move back a safe distance,” Jewel tells those who remain behind. “It will not be safe for us shortly.”
Sherwood isn’t sure just what Jewel is getting at, but obeys her nonetheless. The Mother Tree is restored and it grows to the size of a mountain!

“That is one big tree.”

More and more elves arrive, either coming down from the Mother Tree or coming out of the force. Sherwood begins to feel more and more uncomfortable around them. His time to move on is rapidly coming.
Lilia wrote:Lilia will smile and laugh lightly at Sherwood’s comments. “You are a wise man, Sherwood Elf-Friend, far wiser than I ever gave you the credit for. I will see that this artifact is made ready to an elfin mage worthy of it.
“Thanks,” Sherwood answers, a look of slight puzzlement still on his face. “I think.”

Sherwood will remain on the ground for now, letting the elves enjoy this time.

Talen

Post by Talen »

Talen:

Talen’s attention is drawn away by the Dark Maiden’s dance. It is highly erotic and coupled with her naked state and mesmerizing voice; Talen can’t help but be entranced. He just desperately hopes that he doesn’t get too excited and embarrass himself.

The dance ends and Lia is transformed into a drow! Talen can’t help but approach, this monumental event forcing him to look away from the Dark Maiden.

“Lia! Are you okay? This is a bit of a shock, although in hindsight it probably shouldn’t be. Grandma is going to be surprised!”
"Thank you, Talen," Kylie says, accepting his hand and rising to her feet. She doesn't release his hand immediately.
Talen will hold on for as long as Kylie does.

We journey into the Heart of the Tree and release the energy given to us. The Mother Tree is healed and grows to colossal size. Talen could never imagine a tree being that large before!

Exiting the chamber, we find ourselves high up in the tree, so far up that the Sylvan Realm is now below us! The Crystal Platform was moved up here too, and it begins to release those elves that had been sent before us. Kylie runs off in search of her mother and is soon lost in the crowd.

The new arrivals eye Lia suspiciously and Talen will unconsciously put himself between her and them. Lilia speaks to the elves with far more eloquence than she ever had before. Hopefully they’ll listen to her words.

Valena:

Keeping watch from above, Valena is surprised in the change in Lilia, but absolutely shocked of the one in Lia. She’s become a drow! Was it here choice to do so? If so, it was a very brave one.

As the five go to tend to the Mother Tree, Valena will store her bow and climb down to the forest floor. She’ll join the others as they move away.

The ground shakes and the Mother Tree erupts from the ground and streaks into the sky! It is enormous and even grander than Valena could have ever imagined! The love and warmth of the Mother Tree is felt and Valena feels at home.

“It is done,” Valena says rhetorically. “The Mother Tree is restored. All is well.”

“I wonder what happens now?”

Lia

As the silvery glow radiates from the Dark Maiden, Lia listens to the sad song of her patron her eyes becoming misty from a combination of excitement and being scared, Lia closes her brown eyes as she feels a slight tingle begins lingering up and down her body. Daring not to open her teary eyes, she can only feel the wet drops of her tears running down her face and the soft caress of the Dark Maiden’s voice upon her ears.
The dance ceases, the song fades, and the radiance dissipates. When Lia can be seen again, she has the glossy black skin of a drow elf. She retains her height, but her hair and eyes have changed color as part of her transformation.
Lia hesitantly opens her eyes to see the Dark Maiden looking down upon her gauging her reaction. Bringing her hand to her face to wipe the tears away, Lis now sees her dark tanned skin is but a memory, Her eyes now fall upon her skin which is glossy black. Looking down at her form, she is a full drow like her Grandmother Midnight!!! She begins to touch her face as she looks up at her Patron elation upon her face as he white teeth etch across her ebony skin.
The Dark Maiden smiles and steps away. “Be true to yourself, child and in turn you will be true to me.”
“With your gift, I am that much closer.” She says in thanks. “I will do my best to honor you and hold true to your ways.” She says back watching her Patron turn and leave.
Lilia wrote:“It appears that I am not the only one changed by our journey,” Lilia will say to Lia. “I wish you well on the new road you have taken up. I cannot say that I would have had the strength to do the same.”
“Thank you, Lillia of Corellon. And you as well. “I am no different as I was before, though my shell has changed, I still remain. I once heard a saying among our tribe. ‘It is our choices that define us.’ You had the strength to ask of Corellon’s blessing as I did of Eilistraee, We are not so different besides the color of our skin.”
Kylie wrote:"Lia? Is that you?" Though the look is different, her features are still recognisable. "I don't know what to say. This is a bold, brave choice. Still, you are friend and this doesn't change that. Your road may be hard, but I will stand by you as a friend."
Lia’s lavender eyes lock onto Kyle’s as she smiles and nods, “It is, Kyle. You need not worry. I could ask of nothing more. It is a privelage to have such friends, I’m starting to see what my grandmother meant when she sent us out of the Lost Valley.”
Sherwood wrote:Apparently Lilia’s change isn’t the only surprise to come when the five chosen ones return. Lia has been transformed into a full drow!

"Lia? Are you okay? Is this what you wanted?” Her Uncle asks concern written about his face.

Wiping the remenats of her tears from her lavender eyes, she smiles at her Uncle. “I am blessed beyond that I have ever thought possible. I met Eilistraee herself and yes I asked for this gift!” her smile growing wider. “I know you may not understand my choice but I hope to still call you kin.” She looks at her Uncle Hopefully.
talen wrote:“Lia! Are you okay? This is a bit of a shock, although in hindsight it probably shouldn’t be. Grandma is going to be surprised!”
“I am fine little brother, more so then you can imagine. I felt I needed to be closer to Eilistraee and to fully understand her teaching. If I can show one that our lineage can be good then I am content, to show those who are lost to see the light I would gladly take on this burden at every crossroad.
The new arrivals eye Lia suspiciously and Talen will unconsciously put himself between her and them. Lilia speaks to the elves with far more eloquence than she ever had before. Hopefully they’ll listen to her words.
Lia notices her brother step before her shielding him as she has done for him countless times. Walking up and placing her hand on his shoulder Lia smiles, “You need not worry, Talen. Though I appreciate your support, this is the burden I face, and I will not hide from anyone. Let them look upon me as they will.”

Looking to the newcomers, Lia will greet them with a warm smile, knowing full well she will have daggers at her back. “Welcome to the Slyvain Realm, May Eiliestrae Bless you on your safe journey here.” As she moves her shoulder length silver hair from her face, “ Are any of you injured? Or Hungry perhaps?”
The last thing you shall hear is the bladesong of my sword.

Laucian watches as the others wake up from their dream and move about. His eyes are drawn to Lilia whome is garbed at a priest of Corellon, “Welcome back, Clansman.” He says as he suddenly realizes that there is a drow among them Pulling back on his bow string and peers down his site to spot a drow wearing the holy symbol and armor of Eilistraee, relaxing his bowThe ground shakes and the Mother Tree erupts from the ground and streaks into the sky! It is enormous and even grander than slightly Laucian can’t help but wonder what transpired between them to cause such a result…. “Lia of Eilistaree?” he asks clear confusion upon his face.
Valena could have ever imagined! The love and warmth of the Mother Tree is felt and Valena feels at home.

“It is done,” Valena says rhetorically. “The Mother Tree is restored. All is well.”

“I wonder what happens now?”

“There is still much to be done in these lands. With one tyrant gone others will try to take his place.” He says evenly looking at his fellow ranger. “But that is for a later time to worry about. For now let us enjoy our freedom of Moorkroft and the Warm and love of the Mother tree.”

Moving toward the tree he notices Sherwood’s hesitation to join them. “Are you ok Sherwood Elf Friend?” he asks curiously. Afterward Laucian will move to where the others are and look among those who have arrived, perhaps there are those who share his clan? Seeing Lia and Talen near each other as the others glare at her untrustingly, Laucian stands near them his weapons stowed by, giving Lia a nod of encouragement.

When things have relaxed Laucian will go to the mother tree and pray to Ehlonna.

Post Continued:

The Mother Tree has been restored! The elves that crossed over the Rainbow Bridge have been released and those elves who stayed behind in the Sylvan Realm have been freed from their trees. Greeting them are the heroes who restored the Mother Tree to her true glory.

Amongst the throng of elves, Kylie searches for a very familiar face.
Kylie wrote:Unable to wait any longer, Kylie races in among the arriving elves, searching every face for that of her mother.
Allurien Feador is momentarily surprised when Kylie hugs her.

"Excuse me, I-" Allurien pauses and then recognition comes to her features. Allurien returns the hug and fully embraces her grown daughter tightly. "Kylie? Is this you? How did you get here? You've grown so much! What is going on?"

The newcomers are wary of Lia. Most are cool to her, but none are outright rude. None of the elves seem worse for wear from their ordeal. To them, no time has passed since they entered the Rainbow Bridge and arrived here, even though as much as ten years has passed for some of them. But to a full elf, such a passage of time is almost nothing.

Lilia's speech seems to have swayed their opinions. To the ears of a full-blooded elf, Lilia's words seem to carry far more weight then they otherwise would. They agree that the discussion should be limited to just the party leaders of the bands sent over the Rainbow Bridge.

(Editor's Note: Priests of Corellon have their Charisma enhanced while dealing with other elves.)

It is decided to continue the conversation at Golden Peak. Golden Peak is a dwelling at the very top of the Mother Tree. It's the order hall for an elite unit of Griffon Rider's known as the Order of the Golden Griffon. Its view of the Sylvan Realm is unparallel.

Golden Peak is a large platform nestled in the uppermost branches of the Mother Tree. It has a huge landing area, a griffon stable and a manor house for the order members.

While everyone is getting settled for the meeting to come, Laucian says a quick prayer to Ehlonna and states his wish for his reward.

After completing it, Laucian hears a nearby chirping. Standing close by is a majestic griffon wearing golden barding signifying that it is a mount of the Order of the Golden Griffon. Laucian's wish has been fulfilled.

Valena does the same and her wish is granted too. A unicorn appears beside her and gently nudges her shoulder. The unicorn wears custom silver and blue barding signifying that it is a mount of the Order of Silver Maidens.

While the leaders and the elfin heroes make the trek up the Mother Tree to Golden Peak, the rest of the groups will spread out to secure the immediate area. Those who reach the ground are warmly welcomed by the cooshee's. Some elves go out to forage, as with this many elves food and drink for a large group is going to be required.

Back up in the meeting room of the Order of the Golden Griffon, introductions are made. Kylie's mother, Allurien Feador, was the leader of her expedition, so she is present. Here's a rundown of the leaders of the other expeditions:

Kaffa & Jetter Novanion are twins and both are Rangers and Priests of Ehlonna. They are the co-leaders of their expedition. Kaffa is female, Jetter male. Clan Feador.

Voluril Ocing, a man dressed all in black. His body language suggests that he favors stealth. Clan Chossum.

Dorotha Kenig, a forest maiden wearing tradition woodslady garb carrying a longbow. Clan Grunalf.

Sheeryl Soulsearcher, a Priestess of Sehanine Moonbow. Clan Erendyl.

Sithel, a warrior wearing elfin plate mail. Clan Red Arrow.

Olantius Jasus, an elfin warrior and wizard. Clan Mealidil.

Chandra Sakar, a Priest of Corellon decked out in elfin chain mail carrying a longsword and shield. Clan Red Arrow.

Solus, another elfin warrior wizard. Clan Longrunner.

Stobon, a Priest of Solonor Thelandira. Clan Erendyl.

“Well met, Clan Brother and Sister. This is my daughter, Kylie,” Allurien will say to Kaffa and Jetter. “I have to assume that you came in an expedition that left after mine. You were both considered for my expedition, but we couldn’t contact you time.”

“We were away from the Elfholds on business for the Lady of the Forests,” Jetter explains. “You were gone by the time we returned.”

It quickly becomes apparent that Chandra Sakar is the most powerful personality here. Plus he is a high level Priest of Corellon and that adds to his aura.

"Well met, Feywarden Sister," Chandra says to Lilia. Feywarden's are the name given to the Priesthood of Corellon. "I am pleased to find one of our order here. It is only natural that one of our sect be part of such a great task."

To everyone else present at the meeting, Chandra will ask, "What is the situation in the Sylvan Realms here and now? What sort of enemy do we face? Do you know where they are located?"

Back on the ground, the first of the elves freed from the trees arrive. Many of these elves were Keepers of the Tree, a sect that tended to and cared for the Mother Tree. Many of these elves retrieve gear they had stored away from before in secret places. This includes what appears to be wooden armor with the design of leaves carved into them making it appear as chain mail from a distance. These armored Keepers take up positions all over the Mother Tree and serve as her guardians.

Lastly, the highest-ranking Keeper who survived makes his way up to Golden Peak. He is Alanik Feador, the High Keeper of the Tree.

Allurien makes a point to greet another member of her clan and will introduce Kylie too.

"Corellon's children have truly been blessed this day," Alanik will say as introductions are made. "The Mother Tree is restored and her faithful Keepers revived to see that this never happens again."

Alanik then notices Lia’s presence.

"A drow?" Alanik blurts out in surprise, but he quickly regains his composure. "It's been a long time since a dark elf walked among us. Have you come to restore the Darksong Knights?"

Lots to discuss, I would imagine.

Laucian has been granted his reward. The Order of the Golden Griffons is just one of many elite organizations in the Sylvan Realm and among the elves in general. Order armor and weapons can be found in the armory of Golden Peak. Only order members can wear them, but Laucian can wear it should he so desire. He can be the first of member of this restored Order if he so desires.

The Darksong Knights and the Silver Maidens are other such orders. Each has their own stronghold somewhere in the Sylvan Realms. Order armor and weapons can be found at those locations. Likewise Lia and Valena can be the first of these restored orders like Laucian.

Membership in an order can be part of your reward for those of you who are undecided.

Also, Lia now being a full drow, will be bothered by the full light of day. Down on the forest floor its okay, but at the top of the Mother Tree it is not.

Now what?

Lia

The newcomers are wary of Lia. Most are cool to her, but none are outright rude.

The sun invades her sense of sight causing her to squint from the glare of the sun. Widening her eyes she tries to dismiss the feeling but only compounds the problem, it seems her eyes are much like her Grandmother’s! Pulling her cowl of her cloak over her head so it shades the sun gives her some of a reprieve, ‘Is this what it means to be a drow?’ she thinks to herself .

"A drow?" Alanik blurts out in surprise, but he quickly regains his composure. "It's been a long time since a dark elf walked among us. Have you come to restore the Darksong Knights?"

“It is good to see your slumber has not affected your vision.” she says with a smirk. "I am Lia of The Dark Maiden." she says inclining her cowled covered head. “Pardon my naivety, But I am far younger then I look. I’ve only seen nineteen winters.” She says looking at the Elder Elf. “What are the Darksong Knights?” she asks curiously, “What were their responsibilities?” she asks.
The last thing you shall hear is the bladesong of my sword.

Laucian

As the meeting is getting ready to assemble, laucian makes his way before the mother tree, placing his weapons by his side and kneeling. He closes his eyes and prays to Ehlonna for her guidance and support, then reveals his wish to her. For several long minutes he remains his eyes closed to the outside world as he hears a silently chirping coming from behind him.

After completing it, Laucian hears a nearby chirping. Standing close by is a majestic griffon wearing golden barding signifying that it is a mount of the Order of the Golden Griffon. Laucian's wish has been fulfilled.

Turning his head in the direction of the chirping, Laucian eyes focus on the majestic griffon standing near him. Its golden hind quarters the start of its main is fur but then erupts in golden brown feathers, that quickly changed to white when it reaches his head. Intelligent Chocolate brown eyes stare back at him. For several long moments Laucian stares at the Griffon then rises to his feet, “You belong to someone else it seems.” noticing the Golden Barding about it but then something in its eyes tells him different. Reaching up slowly with his right hand he offers it to the Griffon. Then slowly walks about it admiring its beauty and grace. Looking down at Onyx, darting in between his own legs, The griffon looks at the cat oddly. “Come now Onyx, there is no need to be jealous.”

While Laucian wishes to attend the meeting, His curiosity of this mount urges him to stay and get to know the majestic beast. Laucian will take his time getting to know the Griffon, speaking in soothing tones as to not spook it, perhaps working up to petting it. Once it is comfortable enough he will lead it(maybe fly it to a stable at the Order of Griffon Stables.

(Curious as to what the Order of the griffon entails, though he would not done their armor over his of Ehlonna.))
Til Ehlonna's will be done

To Save Mother Tree

Post by Kylie »

Kylie:
Lilia wrote:Lilia happily accepts and returns Kylie’s hug.

“I’m not sure I understand it myself,” Lilia will say, “but it feels right. Ever since my first contact with the All-Father I’ve been changing my views on things and my role with the gods. Over time I came to realize that serving the All-Father is what I really wanted. Now I am.”
"That's wonderful, Lilia," Kylie replies. "I'm confident that this is the right thing for you."
Lia wrote:Lia’s lavender eyes lock onto Kyle’s as she smiles and nods, “It is, Kyle. You need not worry. I could ask of nothing more. It is a privilege to have such friends, I’m starting to see what my grandmother meant when she sent us out of the Lost Valley.”
"Then I am happy for you, Lia," Kylie says and hugs her friend.
Allurien wrote:Allurien Feador is momentarily surprised when Kylie hugs her.

"Excuse me, I-" Allurien pauses and then recognition comes to her features. Allurien returns the hug and fully embraces her grown daughter tightly. "Kylie? Is this you? How did you get here? You've grown so much! What is going on?"
Her mother's response confuses Kylie for a few moments, then comprehension dawns behind her eyes. "I -- I'm sorry, Mom. This must be quite a shock for you. You probably had no sense of the passage of time while you were stuck in there, so it seems like no time has passed, even though it's been years."

Kylie pauses a second to collect her thoughts, sitting down and inviting her mother to do the same. "What the elders didn't know when they sent out all those teams to investigate the situation up here was that the Cyrstal Platform was damaged and Mother Tree was dying. Thus, there was no terminus to the Rainbow Bridge and you were all caught in stasis within. This was all due to the actions of a mad wizard named Moorkroft who wanted to destroy the Sylvan Realm.

"Meanwhile, years passed, and Dad and I were left to believe that you had died of some strange elven sickness. Some time later, he was crippled in an accident and was no longer able to work. We ended up living in the slums of Elcadan where I learned to steal to get food. Eventually, a wizard realized that I had magical talent and arranged for me to be trained in the mystic arts. Once my training was complete, that same wizard recruited me to join a group of adventurers he was assembling.

"A few months ago, the elders approached the elves in the group and asked us to look into the situation here in the Sylvan Realm. By this time, they had realized that a new approach was needed, so they asked us to make the trip by more normal means. Thus, we ended up flying all the way out here on a flying barge powered by a Spell Engine. It took quite a while, but we managed to collect all twelve of the Crystal Platform's medalions, defeat Moorkroft and restore Mother Tree. Doing so completed the Rainbow Bridge and released you all from stasis.

"And here you are," she says with a joyful smile. "I have missed you so much, Mom." Kylie hugs her mother once again, then realizes that Lilia has been addressing the gathered elves.
Lilia wrote:While speaking with the newly arrived elves, Lilia will add, “There are far to many of us to speak about the issues that we need to discuss. Perhaps if the leaders of each expedition were to come forth, we might get some where.”
It is decided to continue the conversation at Golden Peak. Golden Peak is a dwelling at the very top of the Mother Tree. It's the order hall for an elite unit of Griffon Rider's known as the Order of the Golden Griffon. Its view of the Sylvan Realm is unparalleled.
As it turns out, Allurien was the leader of her expedition, so she heads upwards to attend the meeting. Not wanting to let her mother out of her sight, Kylie accompanies her.
Allurien wrote:“Well met, Clan Brother and Sister. This is my daughter, Kylie,” Allurien will say to Kaffa and Jetter. “I have to assume that you came in an expedition that left after mine. You were both considered for my expedition, but we couldn’t contact you time.”
"Hello," Kylie says, a little hesitantly. "It is a pleasure to meet you both."

Since Lilia seems to have the ear of the elves, Kylie will remain quiet during the meeting - only speaking up when asked or details need to be added. Instead, she is content to just sit near her mother and enjoy this reunion.

After the meeting, they begin to descend Mother Tree to rejoin everyone else. On the way, Kylie asks her mother to pause a moment while she enters the heart of the tree. Kneeling, she places her hands against the ancient wood and whispers her request. A moment later, she rises and returns to her mother.

"Can I meet you at the bottom of Mother Tree, mom? There is something I need to do." She then walks out to the Crystal Platform. Closing her eyes for a moment, she thinks about rising into the air just as she would do if she had cast a Fly spell. Looking down, Kylie sees that she is indeed floating in the air nearly a foot off the platform! With a happy smile, she takes off and goes spinning and wheeling through the air and around Mother Tree, revelling in the freedom and joy of pure flight. Realizing that she has been doing so for several minutes, Kylie begins working her way down and around the tree to the ground, landing lightly a few steps from her mother.

"Hi, mom," she says, beaming.

Once they reach the forest floor, Allurien introduces her to Alanik Feador, the High Keeper of the Tree. Again, Kylie is intimidated a little to meet so important an elf, but greets him politely as best she can.

GM Notes:

The Order of the Golden Griffon is a collection of individuals with similar interests. In this case, membership is open to those elves that excel at aerial combat on the back of griffons. The griffon stable that you found many posts ago was the home to a regular aerial cavalry unit of griffon riders. The Golden Griffons would be an elite unit. For example, the leader of such a normal regular unit could be a Golden Griffon himself. These are the cream of the crop, the best of the best, the top guns of griffon riders.

Just what it entails really depends on what you want to do with Laucian from this point on. He could just be a member but otherwise have no responsibly with the running of the unit and go on adventures on his own. Or he could become the leader, recruit other members and the unit could be at the beck and call of the elfin rulers to deal with special problems. It all depends on what Laucian wants to do.

The Golden Griffons are similar to being a Knight. They are an elite unit and there is much prestige that goes with it. To be a member is a great honor for those who ride griffons into battle. And while knights don’t always go out on adventurers together, sometimes they do. There’s a lot of flexibility to this.

The Order of the Silver Maidens is very similar to the Golden Griffons, the exception being that members are limited to those elf maidens who have unicorn mounts. While each group has its own armor and weapons, you do not have to make use of them. For instance, both Laucian and Valena could keep their Ehlonna armor and just wear the order tabard over it.

The Darksong Maidens, on the other hand, are an order of Priestess of Eilistraee. Their goal is to further the Dark Maiden’s cause here in the Sylvan Realms. They turn back invaders who try to attack the realm from below and foil drow plots when they are able. Basically do the normal things a Priestess of Eilistraee would do, but as part of a like-minded group.

Again, it all really depends on what direction you want to take your characters in. These are all just options that are available.

Lilia Explians it all

Post by Lilia »

Lilia:
Lia wrote:"Thank you, Lilia of Corellon and you as well. I am no different as I was before, though my shell has changed, I still remain. I once heard a saying among our tribe. 'It is our choices that define us.' You had the strength to ask of Corellon's blessing as I did of Eilistraee, We are not so different besides the color of our skin."
“Perhaps not,” Lilia answers diplomatically. “Regardless of what happens from here on out, know that you will always have a friend in me.”
Laucian wrote:His eyes are drawn to Lilia whom is garbed at a priest of Corellon, "Welcome back, Clansman."
“Good to be back, Clansman,” Lilia says with a nod. “It seems that I missed quiet a bit. But for whatever discomfort that I endured, it was worth it to have the Mother Tree restored.”
Kylie wrote:"That's wonderful, Lilia," Kylie replies. "I'm confident that this is the right thing for you."
“It is something of a leap of faith,” Lilia says with a sly smile.
Lilia's speech seems to have swayed their opinions. To the ears of a full-blooded elf, Lilia's words seem to carry far more weight then they otherwise would. They agree that the discussion should be limited to just the party leaders of the bands sent over the Rainbow Bridge.
While unaccustomed to such public speaking, Lilia quickly takes to it. Did she have this in her all along or is part of the gift given by the All-Father? She always found Priests of Corellon so enchanting in the past, their words so important. Does she have that talent now?

The new arrivals agree to limit the meeting to just the leaders of the various expeditions. It is decided to go up to the Golden Peak, a griffon stable high atop the Mother Tree. Among leaders is one from clan Grunalf.
Dorotha Kenig, a forest maiden wearing tradition woodslady garb carrying a longbow. Clan Grunalf.
“Well met, Clanswoman,” Lilia will say in greeting. “In addition to myself, Laucian is also from Clan Grunalf. Do you know how long ago you left the Elfholds?”

Lilia spots Kylie with walking and talking with an unfamiliar elf lady.

“You must be Kylie’s mother.” Lilia will say in greeting. “It is an honor to meet you. You have a very fine daughter. Without her help and skill, I doubt we would have succeeded in our mission.”

“The honor is mine, Feywarden Brother,” Lilia answers with a bow of respect. “Alas, I am new to the priesthood. Becoming a priestess of the All-Father was my reward for restoring the Mother Tree. I have been blessed to have heard the words of the All-Father are four separate occasions now. This was not the path I originally intended to walk, but I’ve gone through many changes and now it is the road I wish to take.”
To everyone else present at the meeting, Chandra will ask, "What is the situation in the Sylvan Realms here and now? What sort of enemy do we face? Do you know where they are located?"
“When we arrived in the Sylvan Realms, we found it seemingly deserted,” Lilia states. “From what we were able to piece together, that when Moorkroft and his armies arrived to destroy the Mother Tree they were puzzled to find it missing and the elves gone. Moorkroft feared that the orcs would destroy some vital clue to the Mother Tree’s location and so he ordered them out of the Sylvan Realm.”

“To that end, the armies built forts all around the Sylvan Realm, perhaps a dozen in all. We had to covertly raid one fort to retrieve a Medallion. We found it occupied by orcs, humans who rode wyverns into battles, all of whom were led by a Fire Giant. I believe that Nariya or Laucian can help provide the locations of these forts.”

“As for Moorkroft himself, he continued to work on finding the Mother Tree. He claimed the Elfin Palace as his home. The years passed and he could not find the tree. As I understand it, the elves originally believed that the armies would just leave in time, but Moorkroft was persistent. He found a way to drain those elves that remained behind inside of trees of their life’s essence. Moorkroft used this energy to unnaturally extend his own life so that he could live long enough to take the secret of immortality from the Mother Tree.”

“But there was a side effect to Moorkroft. The more elfin essence he took in, the more like an elf his appearance became. This drove Moorkroft mad and forced him to command his armies from a distance. Right now they are not an organized force. Apart from Moorkroft himself, we only encountered his black dragon pet and a force of Wyvern Riders.”

“That is not to say that an army of orcs are not on their way from those forts right now. We just don’t know.”

“We do have allies here, allies that date back to the time of the elves. The griffons here were specially bred to carry elves into battle. There are packs of Elfin Dogs to be found. We’ve restored good relations with the centaurs and the rocs helped defeat the black dragon.”

“That is about all I can recall. Does anyone have anything else to add?”

Lilia will greet the High Keeper of the Tree when he arrives. With the Keepers back, the Mother Tree should now be safe.

Lia wrote:Wiping the remnants of her tears from her lavender eyes, she smiles at her Uncle. "I am blessed beyond that I have ever thought possible. I met Eilistraee herself and yes I asked for this gift!" her smile growing wider. "I know you may not understand my choice but I hope to still call you kin." She looks at her Uncle Hopefully.
“Of course you’re kin,” Sherwood will say as he hugs his niece. “To be given such a gift from your goddess is a true blessing. Your life is your own to live, Lia, so do what makes you happy. I and the others will continue to support you.”
Laucian wrote:Moving toward the tree he notices Sherwood's hesitation to join them. "Are you okay Sherwood Elf Friend?" he asks curiously.
“I’m fine, Laucian,” Sherwood answers. “It seems our quest is finished. The Mother Tree has been restored and the elves are returning. My time here in the Sylvan Realm is coming to an end. The rest of you are elves or have elfin blood, but I am fully human. With the elves back, my presence is no longer required, and probably not all that wanted in some quarters. This is an elfin matter now and I will leave it to your capable hands. My own homeland is in crisis, so that is where I must go. But I will remain for this evening, so we can talk again and I can say goodbye to those who choose to remain here.”

While the elves meet and greet, Sherwood will use Lifeshield to teleport to the barge. He’s unsure just where Moorkroft left it, and he needs it to return home.
I do what is necessary.

Laucian wrote:"There is still much to be done in these lands. With one tyrant gone others will try to take his place." He says evenly looking at his fellow ranger. "But that is for a later time to worry about. For now let us enjoy our freedom of Moorkroft and the Warm and love of the Mother tree."
“And I for one will be ready for whatever evil next casts its gaze on the Sylvan Realm,” Valena will state. “It is my intention to remain here and be part of this grand happening. But as you say, let us enjoy the moment.”

Valena follows Laucian on the long trek up the Mother Tree. Never has she seen such a giant tree! Finally they reach the branch that holds the Crystal Platform. The Rainbow Bridge has brought all its passengers back home. Many elves come forth and Valena will greet them.

Some are from Valena’s clan. Chief among them is Kylie’s mother!

“Well met, Clan sister,” Valena will say. “It is an honor to finally meet you. I am Valena Feador, Priestess of Ehlonna and a skilled archer.”
Kaffa & Jetter Novanion are twins and both are Rangers and Priests of Ehlonna. They are the co-leaders of their expedition. Kaffa is female, Jetter male. Clan Feador.
“Well met, forest cousins,” Valena states. “Its seems that share both clan and goddess. We found a Sacred Grove not too far away from our location. I am sure that you would like to visit it when time permits.”
Valena does the same and her wish is granted too. A unicorn appears beside her and gently nudges her shoulder. The unicorn wears custom silver and blue barding signifying that it is a mount of the Order of Silver Maidens.
While waiting for the elves to get organized for the meeting that Lilia seems to be holding, Valena will stop and pray to the Mother Tree and reveal her hearts desire. She would like a unicorn mount.

Opening her eyes, Valena finds a majestic unicorn standing before her. It’s beautiful beyond words. Valena cautiously approaches, saying soothing words.

“Hello there. You are a pretty one. I am Valena. Do you have a name?”

Noting the barding that unicorn wears, Valena learns about the Order of the Silver Maidens from the unicorn. Intrigued by this, Valena will ask more questions from her new friend and completely miss the meeting.

Talen:
Lia wrote:"I am fine little brother, more so then you can imagine. I felt I needed to be closer to Eilistraee and to fully understand her teaching. If I can show one that our lineage can be good then I am content, to show those who are lost to see the light I would gladly take on this burden at every crossroad.
“Then I am happy for you, Lia,” Talen replies. “I know not what choose I will make. Nothing really comes to mind right now. I don’t even know if I will stay here or not.”
Lia wrote:Lia notices her brother step before her shielding him as she has done for him countless times. Walking up and placing her hand on his shoulder Lia smiles, "You need not worry, Talen. Though I appreciate your support, this is the burden I face, and I will not hide from anyone. Let them look upon me as they will."
Talen looks back for a moment, and then back to the elves. He’ll nod and then step away. “As you wish, sister.”

Talen just watches and listens as the elves return and Lilia speaks to them. He follows along with them as they go up the top of the Mother Tree as he really doesn’t have much else to do.

Lia and Lilia seem to have already chosen and receive their rewards. Laucian and Valena have new mounts. Talen notes the Kylie has found her mom and she’s staying close to her. Not that Talen blames her one little bit. If he was to find his mother again, he’d stay close to her too.

Talen finds it harder and harder to pay attention to what is going on with the elves. He slips out of the meeting for some fresh air and to be alone. Walking to a nearby railing, Talen sit down to take in the view.

For some reason, in spite of all these people here, Talen feels very alone all of the sudden.

What happens is remarkable and Nariya can hardly believe as the Mother tree grows to such a height. Then those elves lost and trapped emerge and there are so many. Suddenly Nariya feels a bit claustrophobic. She finds a quiet spot but is soon joined there.

Talen finds it harder and harder to pay attention to what is going on with the elves. He slips out of the meeting for some fresh air and to be alone. Walking to a nearby railing, Talen sit down to take in the view.

"You too?" Nariya says, seeing it's Talen sitting down not far from her. She is staring out over the railing taking in the incredible view. "I can't help but feel, even with all this cause for celebration, that something is still wrong. Out there I mean," she adds, pointing with her chin out into the vast wilderness.

Getting the feeling Talen wants to be alone, Nariya goes quiet unless he wants to talk.
