Elfquest #29

The attempt to locate Lilia has failed, as the Magic Mirror could not find her. However, before the spell expires, Kylie suggests trying to find the brownie Robin Goodfellow. He can be found and he appears to be in an elfin dwelling up in the trees, much like the one where he was first found.

With the preparations complete, the group mounts up on the griffons. Valena instructs the cooshee’s on where to go and the elfin dogs run off to the area of the Crystal Platform.

The griffon flight is exhilarating as usual. It takes less than two hours to reach your destination. Once close enough, those griffons bearing riders begin to dive through the narrow openings in the trees. They land and allow their riders to depart. Valena will relate that some of the griffons will remain in patrol overhead, while others will fly off to recruit more of their brethren.

Oddly enough, you didn’t spot any of the wyvern riders in the skies on you way to the platform.

As you reach the area of the Crystal Platform you can see it’s much like it was when you last saw it. However, there is a small crowd of beings close to it. At the center of attention is Jewel, the mysterious woman you meet in the cottage and the possessor of the final medallion. The three unicorns that Laucian and Valena met yesterday are there as well. Jewel is casually stroking the younger unicorn as they converse.

A small crowd of brownies is in the area and Robin Goodfellow is present among them. Then you notice that there are more trees here than there were before. These new trees are in reality Treants which you quickly discover when one of them opens his eyes.

Jewel gestures for you to come closer. “Welcome friends. This is a most joyous time. Are you ready to restore the Mother Tree?”

GM Notes:

The cooshee’s will catch up to you in less than an hour. The griffons fly a bit faster than they can run.

Now what?
Try it and find out!

Sherwood:
Laucian wrote:“I will do what I can from where I am positioned. At any case I will fire a Silence arrow into/ near him given the chance. Also I will pray for Silence spells as they will be needed.”
“That is all that I can ask,” Sherwood will say.
Lia wrote:Looking at Sherwood and Laucian, “Would not a hit and run tactic work? Attack Moorkroft at different sides at different times keeping him guessing at which point will attack next?” She asks curiously, knowing that this arch mage has no intention of fighting on equal ground.
“Yes, it is sound strategy,” Sherwood will note. “Try to keep him off balance. Attack, withdraw and move to a different location, and then attack once more. If this can be down in unison, it can be a very effective tactic.”

At Kylie’ suggestion, we search for Robin Goodfellow before the Magic Mirror spell fades. The brownie is found easily enough and seems to be safe.

That task complete, we make ready to depart. Valena instructs the cooshee’s to meet us at the Crystal Platform while we fly there on the griffons. Familiar faces await us at the platform. The forest forces of good at out in full force. Numerous brownies are present, along with three unicorns, treants and the mysterious Jewel.
Jewel gestures for you to come closer. “Welcome friends. This is a most joyous time. Are you ready to restore the Mother Tree?”
“Well met, Jewel,” Sherwood says respectfully with a bow. “As you know we have the other eleven medallions needed to restore the mother tree. We thought that it might be prudent to plan our defensive strategy today and release the Mother Tree in the morning. Unless you have a better suggestion?”

Valena:

While Sherwood uses his magic to search for Lilia, Valena will round up the Cooshee’s and talk to them.

“We’re going to be traveling to the Crystal Platform in the city to the north. We want you to run there right away and we’ll meet you there. We’ll be flying on the griffons and with us, you’ll make better time.”

Once everything is ready, Valena will mount up on her griffon and take flight towards the Crystal Platform. No wyvern riders are in sight and that makes Valena pause. Perhaps Moorkroft isn’t as prepared as we think he is. Maybe we shouldn’t wait.
As you reach the area of the Crystal Platform you can see it’s much like it was when you last saw it. However, there is a small crowd of beings close to it. Valena’s heart jumps for joy upon seeing who is waiting for them is not only Jewel, but the unicorns as well! The young priestess will bow before them. “An honor to see all of you once more, Forest Lords, Lady Jewel.”

Valena listens as Sherwood speaks to Jewel, but has nothing to add of her own. She’s too entrance by the Unicorns and the presence of Lady Jewel.

Lia wrote:“Just don’t stand to close, brother.” She adds thoughtfully. “Two mages close at hand would provide an ample target as well.”
“Yeah, I guess you’re right, sister,” Talen answers sheepishly back.

Talen enjoys the griffon ride, but his stomach is churning with fear. The end of this adventure seems to be a hand, and for that Talen is glad. It’s the matter of surviving this final battle that concerns him.

After dismounting from his griffon, Talen follows the others towards the group gathered here. To his astonishment there are unicorns present! They are beautiful beyond belief! And treants! So many wonderful beings gathered here! Talen will try to follow whatever orders are given to him.

To Save Mother Tree

Post by Kylie »

Kylie:
Sherwood wrote:“We’ll do what we can in the time that we have,” Sherwood agrees. “And do keep an eye on the medallions. It is possible that only an elf can use them properly, so Moorkroft still might need us. At any rate, better safe than sorry.”
"Naturally," is all Kylie says in reply. She just nods when Sherwood says that he'll do the Magic Mirror spell. It doesn't really matter to her.
Sherwood wrote:“Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend any of us fighting on griffons. It takes years of practice just to learn to how to fight on the back of a horse and bonding with your mount. The griffons would be more affective by themselves, as would we. Plus on the ground you’ll have cooshee’s for support.”
"That's fine with me; I was just throwing out an idea." She'll probably keep her Fly spell, as it does give her certain tactical options.
Sherwood wrote:“Not offhand, no,” Sherwood answers. “There are other ways to conceal oneself too.”

Sherwood reaches down his shirt and produces an amulet.

“You’d get a similar result if you tried to scry me. This amulet prevents me from being located in such a manner. Or it might even be a property of the Star Crown she wears. Unfortunately, this doesn’t answer any of the nagging questions we have concerning Lilia’s fate.”
Kylie raises one eyebrow as Sherwood pulls out the amulet. The man certainly seems to have the most incredible collection of magic items...
Talen wrote:“I think that’s a great idea,” Talen says excitedly. “I’m probably better at fighting in close quarters then using ranged attacks or spells. I’ll guard your back and you can use your magic.”
Lia wrote:“Just don’t stand too close, brother.” She adds thoughtfully. “Two mages close at hand would provide an ample target as well.” Looking at Sherwood and Laucian, “Would not a hit and run tactic work? Attack Moorkroft at different sides at different times keeping him guessing at which point will attack next?” She asks curiously, knowing that this arch mage has no intention of fighting on equal ground.
"That's what I'm counting on, Talen. And that's a good point, Lia. Still, hopefully Sherwood can keep Moorkroft pretty occupied. Nevertheless, from our experiences back in the Elven capitol, we had better be ready for anything."

One good thing does come out of Sherwood's use of the Magic Mirror spell: they locate Robin Goodfellow and find that he is safe and healthy.

Soon, they mount up on the griffons and begin the trip back to the crystal platform. Fortunately, the trip is not too long, and they arrive before midday. Their arrival is met by quite a group. Jewel is there, and she appears to have a very friendly relationship with the unicorns as she is stroking the young one. Also, Robin can be seen nearby with a group of other brownies. Not only that, but there are treants present, Kylie cannot remember ever having met a unicorn or treant before. This is quite a gathering!
Jewel wrote:Jewel gestures for you to come closer. “Welcome friends. This is a most joyous time. Are you ready to restore the Mother Tree?”
Sherwood wrote:“Well met, Jewel,” Sherwood says respectfully with a bow. “As you know we have the other eleven medallions needed to restore the mother tree. Valena wrote:Valena’s heart jumps for joy upon seeing who is waiting for them is not only Jewel, but the unicorns as well! The young priestess will bow before them. “An honor to see all of you once more, Forest Lords, Lady Jewel.”
Kylie will add her voice to the chorus of greetings. She's never seen Sherwood act quite this way toward anyone, which seems only to confirm some of her suspicions about the woman.

While the others discuss strategy, Kylie will move over to the brownies. "It's good to see you again, Robin. I am happy to find you in good health. It appears that you brought some friends..."

The arrival of the cooshees some time later is heart-warming. Kylie is quite happy to be reunited with Dapple once again.

Jewel gestures for you to come closer. “Welcome friends. This is a most joyous time. Are you ready to restore the Mother Tree?”

Resting her right hand upon the hilt of her longsword she looks at Jewel then the other beings around them. With a scrutinizing gaze she finally returns to Jewel “Pardon my rudeness, but how are we to know you are who you say you are?” she says ignoring the others as her eyes never leave Jewel, trying to determine if this women is just who she says she is or merely a clever illusion. “We have been fighting illusions since we last met and will all respect, I don’t trust my own eyes at this point. Who was the first of us you spoke to?”

Depending on Jewel’s answer will determine Lia’s actions.

“Well met, Jewel,” Sherwood says respectfully with a bow. “As you know we have the other eleven medallions needed to restore the mother tree. We thought that it might be prudent to plan our defensive strategy today and release the Mother Tree in the morning. Unless you have a better suggestion?”

Laucian smiles upon seeing the unicorns gathered closely to Jewel, this task was far greater then he imagined and one he wishes to come to an end.

Laucian will wait and hear what Sherwood as well as Jewel wish to do about the coming trials.

The elves have returned to the Crystal Platform with eleven of the twelve medallions. Waiting for them there is Jewel, the mysterious older woman who possesses the final medallion. With Jewel are the three unicorns Laucian and Valena met before, many brownies including Robin Goodfellow and several treants.
Sherwood wrote:“Well met, Jewel,” Sherwood says respectfully with a bow. “As you know we have the other eleven medallions needed to restore the mother tree. We thought that it might be prudent to plan our defensive strategy today and release the Mother Tree in the morning. Unless you have a better suggestion?”
“The choice is yours, Sherwood of Mystra” Jewel answers. “There a both advantages and disadvantages on waiting another day. Neither option is better than the other. However, the longer you wait, the more prepared your enemy might be and the weaker the Mother Tree becomes.”
Valena wrote:Valena’s heart jumps for joy upon seeing who is waiting for them is not only Jewel, but the unicorns as well! The young priestess will bow before them. “An honor to see all of you once more, Forest Lords, Lady Jewel.”
“Hello, Valena of Ehlonna,” Jewel answers. “Many are the wonders that you will see this day.”
Kylie wrote:While the others discuss strategy, Kylie will move over to the brownies. "It's good to see you again, Robin. I am happy to find you in good health. It appears that you brought some friends..."
“Greetings,” Robin says to Kylie. “I am pleased that you made it this far! We all eagerly await the return of the Mother Tree! Sorry I departed without notice. Those griffons make me nervous!”

“Sometimes you have to have faith, Lia of Eilistraee,” Jewel simply answers. “Were you not taught to be kind to strangers? To encourage the hearts of others and bring happiness when able? To answer your question, I first spoke to the one who is not here, but near. She appeared to me in the form of a bird in my flowerbox.”

Turning back to Sherwood, Jewel will say, “As I stated the choice is yours. I have the medallion with me and can give it to you on a moment’s notice. Everyone where will risk their lives to have the Mother Tree restored.”

“That’s what I thought,” Sherwood admits.

To answer your question, I first spoke to the one who is not here, but near. She appeared to me in the form of a bird in my flowerbox.”
Sherwood says nothing when Lia makes her challenge. She’s young and sometimes the best lessons you can learn are difficult ones.

But one thing that Sherwood does not is that Jewel seems to insinuate that Lilia is close by. That, factored with her inability to be scryed, does concern Sherwood.
Jewel wrote:Turning back to Sherwood, Jewel will say, “As I stated the choice is yours. I have the medallion with me and can give it to you on a moment’s notice. Everyone where will risk their lives to have the Mother Tree restored.”
“As are all of we,” Sherwood responds. “One moment, please.”

Sherwood will gesture for those with him to gather close by so that they can speak privately.

“I’m beginning to form the opinion that we need do this now and not wait any longer. There have been no signs of an army approaching, so most likely we’ll be contending with a small force that may or may not already be in place. And I trust you caught what Jewel told Lia? That Lilia is close by. She’s either going to be used as a hostage against us or will be actively trying to thwart us. We won’t know which until that time comes. Plus we have some allies already present.”

“What say you all?”

If the group agrees to freeing the Mother Tree now, Sherwood will have Laucian and Valena take archery positions. He’ll have Kylie, Lia, Talen, and Nariya carry out the task if placing the medallions into the Crystal Platform and then retreating to their defensive positions. Sherwood himself will stay out in the open, Lifeshield in full defense mode, awaiting Moorkroft’s next move.

If not, then we continue to prepare for what is to come.

Kylie is surprised by Lia's attitude toward Jewel. Though she isn't entirely sure what to make of the woman herself, the unicorn's acceptance of her puts her beyond serious suspicion. Lia's approach is a bit more brazen than Kylie would have chosen for herself. Still, she is interested to see how Jewel handles this...
Jewel wrote:“Sometimes you have to have faith, Lia of Eilistraee,” Jewel simply answers. “Were you not taught to be kind to strangers? To encourage the hearts of others and bring happiness when able? Jewel's reaction to Lia is subdued, and once again shows a level of knowledge beyond what she might normally be expected to have. However, her mention of Lilia, even if not by name, catches Kylie's attention. Clearly, she isn't the only who noted that mention...
Lilia wrote:“I’m beginning to form the opinion that we need do this now and not wait any longer. Kylie frowns in thought. "If it comes to that, I don't think I can bring myself to kill Lilia. She's my friend and... no. Short of that, I will do what I must. If now is the time, then let's get this over with." She avoids looking at Laucian.

When instructed, Kylie will participate in placing the medallions in the platform. Once that is completed, she will join Talen and seek cover.

The Elf Quest is nearing its end! The medallions are all in one place at the Crystal Platform. All that remains is now the time to act or not.

“No,” Jewel answers. “But she alone is threat enough.”

It is decided to that the time to act is now. Jewel produces the last medallion and hands it over. Kylie brings out the rest and they are handed out to Nariya, Lia, and Talen. With three medallions each, the four move about the Crystal Platform looking to place them where indicated.

While that is going on, Sherwood remains in the clearing with Jewel and the unicorns. Laucian and Valena climb up into the trees and take archery positions. The cooshee’s stay near the Crystal Platform.

The medallions are put into place until finally only one remains. It’s in Nariya’s hand and she locates the place for it. She easily puts the medallion into the holder and then steps back, unsure just what is going to happen.

Everyone looks around, waiting to see what is going to happen. After what seems like a long wait, something finally does occur. The central area of the Crystal Platform turns misty and an opening appears.

All at once, a feeling of anguish washes over all the elves. It’s similar to the love you all felt back in the Elfholds, but much weaker. But instead of love, pain and hurt is felt. Those daring to go closer to the opening will see that a set of ethereal stairs lead down underneath the Crystal Platform.

You can faintly make out something down there, beneath the platform. It is a small, leafless and dry tree, much smaller than any elfin tree that you’ve seen before. Those who witness this cannot help but feel pain and desperation at the sight of the Mother Tree. Without the energy to restore her, the Mother tree will surely perish!

As the group takes in the scene, the elves will feel something else. A cooshee will bark and everyone looks in that direction. Stepping into the clearing is Lilia! However, she is dressed very differently than what you remember. She wears a midnight black robe and bears an old wooden staff.

“Shall we see the Mother Tree?” Lilia asks as Lady barks fearfully at her.

Jewel hovers near the conversation and will add, “Do not forget that your friend also possesses the gift of Corellon, the energy to restore the Mother Tree. She must not be harmed.”
Kylie's brow scrunches up into a look of consternation. "So you're saying we must find her - somehow - and bring her here. Then, we must get her to give Corellon's energy to the tree and not harm the tree, though you've implied that she is no longer on our side... Wow." At this point, Kylie has very little idea how to even approach such a problem.
Jewel wrote:“No,” Jewel answers. “But she alone is threat enough.”
Kylie is confused by Jewel's answer. While Lilia is a skilled Transmuter, she is still significantly less powerful than Sherwood - or Jewel herself, most likely.

With no better solutions to act on, they proceed with placing the amulets. When Nariya places the last one, there are several tense moments when nothing seems to happen. The moments stretch on and on... and then finally something happens! A hole seems to open in the middle of the platform. Immediately a feeling of pain and suffering washes over Kylie, and she sways as though going to collapse. Fortunately, the feeling is not overwhelming and Kylie soon masters the pain.

Curiosity, and something more, draws Kylie toward the opening. Looking down, she sees the most pitiful excuse for and a tree she's ever seen. Instinctively, she knows that if they don't save it - now - Mother Tree will die!

Oh, gods... No!

So absorbed is she, that Kylie doesn't notice Lilia's approach until she speaks. Kylie hears the voice and recognises it - yet there is something wrong in it as well. Turning, she sees her friend who is not her friend approach and realizes just how bad this situation is.

Somehow, Moorkroft has managed to take possession of Lilia's body!

Desperately, her gaze goes to Sherwood, then Jewel and back to Sherwood, hoping against hope that one of them will have a solution. Kylie is so paniced that she can hardly think.

Suddenly, anger blazes up in Kylie as it hasn't in many years. Turning on Lilia / Moorkroft, she shouts, "Let her go, you monster!" Her body twitches and shivers with rage.

GM Notes:
Does Kylie know anything about possession magic?
Jallarzi probably mentioned it, but given the high level of the spell, probably didn’t give it a great deal of coverage. In short, a Protection from Evil spell will block attempts to possess a body. A Dispel Magic might drive away the invading spirit.

Argent went through a similar ordeal in Sword of Doom #55-59 or so and may have related that experience with Kylie in the past.

Sherwood:

Sherwood watches as the last of the medallions are put into place. Nothing happens for a few moments and then a ghostly set of stairs appears in the platform. It seems that the Mother Tree is actually underneath the crystal platform!

The elves seem to be reacting to something that Sherwood cannot feel. While that is going on, Sherwood becomes aware Lilia approaching. Given her strange style of dress, Sherwood doesn’t need Lady’s warning to know that something is horribly wrong here. It seems that there is a third option on how Lilia was going to be used against them. She now houses the spirit of Moorkroft himself! She may look like Lilia, but is possessed by the spirit of an insane Archmage!

Kylie realizes this as well.

Using Kylie as a distraction, Sherwood will cast Dispel Magic on Lilia.

The path to the Mother Tree has been revealed! Once the twelve medallions were put into place, an ethereal set of stairs appeared leading to a chamber underneath the Crystal Platform. Down there sits the dying Mother Tree, a small and leafless looking tree.

While the elves come to grips with the pitiful sight, another one diverts their attention. Lilia has returned! However, the elf maiden is dressed in black robes that you’ve never seen before and bears a likewise unfamiliar staff. Lady barks at Lilia and slowly the notion that Moorkroft is possessing Lilia’s body is realized. The Star Crown does float about Lilia’s head.
Kylie wrote:Suddenly, anger blazes up in Kylie, as it hasn't in many years. Turning on Lilia / Moorkroft, she shouts, "Let her go, you monster!" Her body twitches and shivers with rage.
“Not until I get what I want!” Moorkroft/Lilia responds. “Life immortal! To live longer than any elf!”

While Lilia speaks, Sherwood casts Dispel Magic on Lilia, hoping to drive out the evil spirit. The spell has no apparent affect.

“You cannot stop me!” Lilia says, glancing towards Sherwood as she steps towards the Crystal Platform. “Not after all this time. Nothing will stop me!”

Suddenly Kylie becomes aware of Jewel standing beside her. She wasn’t there a moment ago.

“Your friend is still in there,” Jewel states in a half-whisper. “If you can reach her… Do not forget the energy that both she and you hold within. Use it.”

Kylie:
Moorkroft wrote:“Not until I get what I want!” Moorkroft/Lilia responds. “Life immortal! To live longer than any elf!”
"To live forever? It that what this is all about?! All these years?! All these wasted lives?!" Kylie queries incredulously. "That's not just sick... that's pathetic." Faced with the stupidity of it all, Kylie's anger starts to disolve. Still, she doesn't notice what Sherwood is doing until until Moorkroft turns an eye toward the mage.

Dispel Magic. That's right. Kylie gets ready to try the same trick, in the hopes that maybe it will work where it failed for Sherwood. Just then, Jewel speaks softly, almost into her ear.
Jewel wrote:“Your friend is still in there,” Jewel states in a half-whisper. “If you can reach her… Do not forget the energy that both she and you hold within. Use it.”
"Uhm... okay," Kylie responds, startled by Jewel's sudden closeness and not entirely sure how to go about doing what Jewel suggests. Still, she has to try.

"Lilia! Please! Reach out to me! Remember Corellon's Gift!" Summoning up everything that she has learned about feeling and moving energy in her magical training, Kylie feels inside for the energy she was given and tries to push it toward and into Moorkroft / Lilia.

“At the expense of becoming an elf?” Sherwood will taunt. If this obviously insane Archmage is going to attack anyone, Sherwood would rather have it be him as Lifeshield will protect him most magical affects.

Sherwood is a bit surprised when Kylie gets into the act, but she is Lilia’s closest friend, so perhaps that will help. Her words do strike a cord in Sherwood. Corellon’s gift! The energy given to those by Corellon back in the Lost Valley. The same energy that’s inside Talen, Lia, Nariya, Kylie, and lastly Lilia. Maybe that connection can be used as an avenue of attack. That quite possibly Moorkroft’s deceptive tactics will just prove to be his undoing.

Turning back to the others, Sherwood will say, “Kylie may be on to something! Lia, Talen, and Nariya give her a hand!”

“If you have Protection from Evil, cast it now! We don’t have to give Moorkroft the chance to move to another body!”

Valena:

Valena takes her archery position higher up in the trees. She selects a spot that will provide her with a view of most of the area. She watches as the medallions are put into place and the stairs to the Mother Tree are revealed. Her heart sinks upon seeing the shape of the Mother Tree. It’s supposed to be the largest tree in the forest!

Then surprisingly, Lilia appears. But it’s not Lilia! Moorkroft possesses her!

Valena has her arrow targeted and is ready to fire, but finds that she can’t.

“If you have Protection from Evil, cast it now! We don’t have to give Moorkroft the chance to move to another body!”

From what she can hear, Kylie is trying to reach Lilia and Sherwood supports this action. For now, Valena will keep her target lock and hopes that she doesn’t have to fire.

Talen:

Talen’s nervous as the last of the medallions are put into place. Nothing happens for a moment, and then the way to reach the Mother Tree is shown. Boosted by the energy given to him, Talen is nearly bowled over by the pain he feels coming from the Mother Tree.

“We’re coming. Hang on,” he all but whispers.

By the time he’s gathered his wits Kylie has moved away from him and she’s talking to Lilia. Where did she come from? But it’s not Lilia and from what the others are saying it’s really Moorkroft! Talen can sense that something is not right.

Kylie notes Sherwood taunting Moorkroft as she considers Jewel's words. Clearly, he's still pursuing the strategy of trying to be the primary target in case Moorkroft decides to lash out.

Laucian watches wth his bow slightly relaxed as Lilia walks forward taunting those beneath him. He wonders silently what Moorkroft is doing to. He makes a prayer to Ehlonna seeking her strength and wisdom that Lilia will come to her senses, Laucian will keep his bow on Lilia hoping he doesnt have to fire while scanning the under brush for anything that may pose a threat.

The way to the Mother Tree is now open, but Moorkroft is also on the scene possessing the body of Lilia! Sherwood moves to intercept and casts Dispel Magic, hoping to drive the evil spirit out. The magic fails.

Urged on by Jewel, Kylie tries to reach Lilia. Lia and Talen assist her efforts. Drawing closer by what is transpiring, Nariya helps as well.

Energy builds among the three half-elves and the lone full elf and it lashes out, striking Lilia! All five seem to be locked in some kind of trance, leaving Laucian, Sherwood, and Valena behind to wonder what is going on.

"The pivotal moment has been reached," Jewel comments. "All will be decide, for better or for worse, in the next few moments.

A loud roar is heard high overhead. Looking up at those places where you can see the sky through the dense trees, you can see a large black dragon flying! But the wyrm is not alone! You hear the squawks of not one roc, but many rocs! The great bird returned with others of his kind and together they are attacking the black dragon!

Elsewhere, Lilia feels as if she's coming out of a very deep sleep. A voice softly speaks to her.

"It is time to awaken, my daughter," the voice says. Having heard this voice twice before, Lilia knows it to be that of Corellon Larethian, the father of the elfin race.

"Everything in your life has been leading to this moment. You're body is possessed by another mage. A human mage. Surely you will not stand for such a thing? This is your time to rise up and choose your destiny! I have faith in you, my child. Now you must have faith in yourself."

As the world around Lilia becomes more in focus, she finds herself standing on a desolate plane. Not too far away, Moorkroft in his true form, that of an ugly and ancient elf, towers over her.

"You will not stop me!" Moorkroft rages at the smaller Lilia. "You're spirit is bound by me for all eternity! The Mother Tree will die!"

Behind Lilia, Kylie, Lia, Nariya, and Talen appear, all drawn together by the energy they possess. As they take in the scene, the voice of Jewel whispers in their ears, even though the woman is nowhere to be seen.

"This is a place of will and imagination," Jewel states. "Just think it and it will occur. These are the weapons with which you can defeat Moorkroft!"

Lilia:
Elsewhere, Lilia feels as if she's coming out of a very deep sleep. A voice softly speaks to her.

"It is time to awaken, my daughter," the voice says. Having heard this voice twice before, Lilia knows it to be that of Corellon Larethian, the father of the elfin race.
“Father?” Lilia mutters as she comes to her senses. This is now the third time that the Father of All Elves has spoken to her. It makes the elf maiden wonder if some of the choices she’s made in life were not the correct ones. That, perhaps, her destiny actually lines along another path.
"Everything in your life has been leading to this moment. You're body is possessed by another mage. A human mage. Surely you will not stand for such a thing? This is your time to rise up and choose your destiny! I have faith in you, my child. Now you must have faith in yourself."
“Possessed?” Lilia repeats. The last thing she can remember was exploring the elfin castle and everything going dark on her. “I’ve been possessed by Moorkroft?”

Anger rises up in Lilia, one that hasn’t been there for a while now. Not long ago Lilia hated human mages with a passion, but her time in the outside work had tempered that. But such feelings were only put aside and not completely buried. Tapping in that, Lilia’s anger grows.

“No, I will not stand for such a defilement!”

"This is a place of will and imagination," Jewel states. "Just think it and it will occur. These are the weapons with which you can defeat Moorkroft!"
Before Lilia can respond to the mad mage, the others she shares the power of Corellon with appear on this desolate plane, drawn together by their common bond. Lilia hears the words of Jewel and feels the concern and compassion of her friends.

Turning back to Moorkroft, Lilia will say, “You are mistaken, human! It is your spirit that is now bound to us! We five share the power of the Father of All Elves! You’re just a madman with delusions of grandeur. It is you who are the weaker one here. Here in this mindscape, it is we who are superior!”

As she speaks, Lilia begins to grow larger, matching the size of Moorkroft. With but a thought, her shortsword is in her hands. Rising it up, Lilia will strike down Moorkroft!

Sherwood:

The attack that Sherwood is prepared for never comes. Instead it seems that somehow Kylie aided by Talen, Lia, and Nariya have somehow reached Lilia. All five of them are seemingly frozen in space. Jewel announces that the pivotal moment has been reached.

“I’m not sure what is going on,” Sherwood calls, “but keep on guard. Let’s make sure nothing bad happens to our friends.”
Looking up, Sherwood can vaguely make out the form of Moorkroft’s pet doing battle with numerous rocs.

“Let’s hope those rocs can keep the dragon out of our way. All we can do for now is watch and wait.”

Talen just smiles in response. There’s more he’d like to say, but now is not the time or the place.
Lia wrote:Running towards Kyle and Talen, Lia casts Protections from evil then, places her hand on Kyle's right shoulder, "Let us show this retch the love of Corillean's gift. Let us show him what it means to be an elf."
Talen reaches out to Lia with his other hand, completing the circle they’ve created. He closes his eyes and is vaguely aware of Nariya joining them when the world around them changes.

From her vantage point, Valena can see what is going on, but really doesn’t understand it. But she did figure that somehow this would involve the ones chosen by Corellon in the first place. All Valena can do now is support them.

Valena becomes aware of the struggle going on overhead, but there’s nothing she can do about that right now. Instead she continues to watch waiting for an opportunity to act.

Kylie:
Running towards Kyle and Talen, Lia casts Protection from Evil, then places her hand on Kyle's right shoulder, "Let us show this wretch the love of Corillean's gift. Let us show him what it means to be an elf."
"That we shall, cousin," Kylie says is she feels Lia's Gift added to the mix.

With one last push, the energy reaches out and crashes into Lilia/Moorkroft. Almost immediately, the world around them fades away and they find themselves on a vast, desolate plane. Not far away stand Lilia and Moorkroft, now separate. Joy floods through Kylie, and then she hears Jewel's words.
"This is a place of will and imagination," Jewel states. "Just think it and it will occur. These are the weapons with which you can defeat Moorkroft!"
What a concept! Kylie's mind reels at the implied possibilities and has to force herself to focus, as there is great danger here. Her first thought is: How do you stop a mage? Bind and gag. Immediately she envisions Moorkroft bound in heavy steel chains from neck to foot, with a thick gag and blindfold. The mention of "will" causes a spark in her brain as she realizes that Moorkroft may be able to wish the restraints away. Thus, she focusses her mind and will to preventing that from happening and replacing them instantly if he manages to overcome her will. Time to make him work for his freedom; time that the others can hopefully use to defeat him.

For several moments Lia wonders just who the voice is then realize it quite quickly whom whispers in her ear. With a thought her longsword, appears in her hand. Wondering how to defeat a mage, She will attempt to render herself invisible and move forward on Moorkroft.(If its possible, Like to attempt to make her longsword a cross between a frostbrand and Flamesword)
