Crucible #13 - "Mad Dogs! Part Two"
Outside Horton's Plaza...
The conflict with Mad Dog continues!
Having broken free of the icy shell Frostbite threw around him, Mad Dog is back up and itching for more!
Having had enough of this, Flux steps forward and smashes Mad Dog with his giant fist, driving the raging mongrel into the pavement! Mad Dog is now in a fist-shaped pit some three feet below street level. Remarkably, the crazed canine is still conscious, but woozy.
Frostbite follows up with an attack of his own. He gestures at Mad Dog but gets a different effect this time out. A stream of razor sharp icy projectiles issue forth. Two of them strike Mad Dog, knocking him out.
The two heroes stare at Mad Dog for a moment, making sure that he's finally defeated. He is.
A moment later another man in costume swings down to the street on a line projected from what looks like a stick or a club. He lands close by...
(A new player! I'll let him describe himself in his introductory post.)
Inside Horton's Plaza...
Meanwhile, back inside the open plaza, Serena has used her healing spell to repair the damage the Monster did to her and help Lily deal with the chilling effect of the frosty fog that now surrounds Blue Steel.
While that is going on, Green Steel is caught between two choices. Does he chase after his fleeing Blue teammate, or does he engage the raging man who had been Red Steel?
Making his decision, Green kicks in his jet pack and flies after the fleeing Blue Steel. Between the two, Green always got along better with Blue than Red. In moments Green is gone from sight.
Red rages at this. How dare someone not fight him! Becoming even angrier, Rage chases after his former teammates. He just wants to get his hands on someone, anyone.
Close by is the group of Serena, Lily, and Goldstar. The unconscious form of the Harpy lies at their feet. They watch Rage start to leave before turning back to the Harpy.
As she promised, Serena bends down to heal the wounded Harpy. Goldstar keeps a watchful eye out in case Rage changes his mind and comes back. Lily positions herself out of harm's way.
Serena casts her spell and most of the serious damage done to the Harpy is repaired. Groggily, the winged woman sits up. She looks around in confusion.
"What happened?", she wonders aloud. Then her eyes lock in on Goldstar. "You! You witch! You'll pay for what you did to me!"
With that, the Harpy screams! Much of the effect is centered on Serena since she is closer. Suddenly, the Knight feels very sleepy, but fights off the effect.
"Hey!", Goldstar protests. "Leave her alone! She was being nice to you!"
Goldstar rushes to protect her friend and fires off a Photon blast, for once forgetting to cry out what attack she's using. The blast catches the Harpy in the chest and nearly puts her out again.
"This isn't over, you blonde bimbo!", Harpy rages. She spreads her wings and rapidly flies away in anger. "My revenge will have to wait, but one day it will come!"
Goldstar lets the angry woman fly off. She's more concerned about Serena at the moment. Serena shakes off the effects of the Harpy's cry and regains her feet.
A loud noise attracts all three women's attention. The noise from the Harpy's scream has drawn Rage and he comes back, violently tossing aside anything in his path.
Goldstar gulps audibly as Rage approaches. Remembering Serena's words from earlier, Goldstar shifts her mass gaining great strength in the process. She then scoops up Lily and Serena and flies away.
Retracing her path, Goldstar flies back out through the open plaza and heads to where she recalled Frostbite and Flux going. Once over the street, Goldstar sees the two men, now joined by the third. She comes in for a landing close by.
The men on the street spot Goldstar as she closes in. Looking up the in the sky, everyone can see yet another man hovering high overhead. He appears to have bronze skin and coppery colored hair. His purpose is known only to him...

Two new characters this time out! So say hello to the newbies!
It only took 13 posts, but I've finally got everyone in one spot. Now that you're all together, what are you going to do?
All missing STUN will be rapidly recovered. BODY will take the usual amount of time, or faster if Serena does any more Heals.
Now what?

Goldstar:
Lily Said:
"Iceman? Pod? Catwoman and windy-woman? I'm not sure I understand what you're talking about, but it can probably wait until later..."
"Yeah, probably. Everyone seems to get confused when I bring that up. Heck, I don't understand it either!"
Goldstar is most grateful when Serena heals the wacky winged woman. At least the damage Goldstar accidentally did has been repaired. Or maybe not.
"What happened?", the winged woman cries out. Then her eyes look directly at me. "You! You witch! You'll pay for what you did to me!"
Starting to blubber once more, Goldstar says, “I’m sorry! I really am! I didn’t mean it!”
Then Harpy actually has the nerve to attack Serena right after she was nice enough to heal her! That just makes Goldstar mad!
"Hey!", Goldstar protests. "Leave her alone! She was being nice to you!"
That is followed up with a Photon Blast, the least damaging attack Goldstar can use. It nearly knocks the wacky winged woman out, but doesn’t appear to leave any physical damage behind. That’s good.
"This isn't over, you blonde bimbo!", Harpy rages. She spreads her wings and rapidly flies away in anger. "My revenge will have to wait, but one day it will come!"
Boy, is she a meanie! Goldstar is happy when the evil woman flies away. Good riddance if you ask me! I’ve got the feeling that I’ll be running into her again somewhere down the road.
“Photon Blast!”, Goldstar inexplicably cries out, having forgotten to do that earlier.
Forgetting about the psycho woman, Goldstar rushes to see if Serena is okay. Then we hear the noise of the red skinned psycho coming our way. Boy, there are sure enough crazy people around here!
Remembering what Serena said earlier, Goldstar acts. After shifting to Neutron Star, Goldstar gently takes Lily and Serena into her arms and flies us all to safety. That red skinned man will just have to find someone else to be mean to!
Once outside, Goldstar flies off in the direction that the iceman and his friend went off in. Once spotting them, Goldstar lands close by and releases her passengers.
“Hiyas!” Goldstar says cheerful. “These are my friends from earlier, the iceman and his friend. Oh look, they’ve made a new friend!”
With that, Goldstar goes up to the man who just arrived. “Hi! I’m Goldstar”, she happily announces.
When we spot the man flying overhead, and seeing that he doesn’t appear to be mean, Goldstar will fly up and introduce herself. “Hi! I’m Goldstar! Who are you?”
For the new people:
Goldstar is a gorgeous woman with long blonde hair blowing in the breeze. Her skin is also golden in color, as if deeply tanned. She wears a skintight costume that consists of thigh-high boots with heels that are red in color. The rest of her costume is a bodysuit without the leggings. It is mostly in red, but the shoulders and trunks are dark blue in color. Large golden bracers are on each arm. What is really noticeable are the little sparkles of light that flutter around her. They are not so bright in the daytime, but would stand out greatly at night. The light bubbles just further enhance her beauty and innocence.

New Kid
Eldrich Arcane
'Where am I? What is this place?' are the first thoughts to enter the stranger's head. He sees very little to answer that question; three plain walls with a strange soft appearence, an ugly plain white sleeping arrangement of metal and a strong looking barred door with a glass window in it.
Further examination only hinders ready explaination. His clothing is also an ugly white and there is very little of it.
'This isn't right' thinks the man. 'I should know where I am.' Upon a moment's reflection another thought adds itself to the queue. 'I should know who I am!'
The first attempts to produce a memory are rewarded with a sudden rush of information.
Eary memories of childhood, schooling and friends, then a blank.
'Have I been ill?' wonders the man. 'What is my name?'
Looking down at the inadaquate material on him he knows how to change it to something more suitable and does so with a word and gesture.
Yes, that was better. A full blue tunic with embroidery traced in emerald thread, loose pants of practical fit dark in color and good walking boots.
Now humanly attired the stranger moves to the door but cannot open it. Looking out through the little window yields little.
'I can get through here' thinks the man if I can just remember the way.
Further thought reveals the correct words and signs placing him beyond the door and into a long hallway lined with similar doors all closed.
'This does not look right either' thinks the man. Moving down the hallway in the direction of noise brings him to a larger room filled with people dressed as he had been but obviously not well.
Some of them are wandering in circles while others stare at nothing at all. None are familiar to the strange man.
"Hey you! How'd you get in here? No visitors allowed!"
This from another man who seems more alert, and larger.
The words don't sound right either but the stranger can understand them.
"Where am I? How did I get here? What place is this?"
"Funny guy. That's my line. Com'ere I'll show you the the way out. It's right by the security station"
The stranger does not like the tone of this man. It seems threatening and rude. With a word and gesture a flash of light erupts from the strangers fingers and blinds the large man.
"hey, what... my eyes! What did you do to my eyes? Help!"
Feeling threatened, the stranger moves past the large man and out of the room, breaking into a run as loud sounds of bells begin to ring.
It becomes a blur after that: running through a maze of long halls, past other unfortunete captives, fighting uniformed men with quick casts of eldrich bolts and stopping suddenly at the tingling feel of magic coming from out of a side room unoccupied.
Once entered the feeling increased leading him to a space behind a picture hanging on the wall.
More castings to break open the container and finally reaching in for very familiar items. A small green cloth, an amulet, and ring. With these personal possesions retrieved comes more memory; these were minor items of magic given to him as a child, indeed to all children when they reached the age of young adulthood. Quickly donning them the stranger continues his escape.
Having reached the outside of the building, the stranger cannot help but stop in wonder. Everything is unfamiliar to him. Even the people seem wrong somehow, too pale in some cases, too small, and feeble looking. The sky itself is the wrong color, a blue instead of a proper green and the stranger is unaccountably afraid now for the first time.
Activating his sky-green cloak, he rises up into the air looking for any point of reference to guide him.
As he drifts over what is obviously a large city the stranger can see much activity below.
None of it is familiar to him. The approach of another flyer draws his attention as a young woman with properly colored skin and good clothing sense rises up and speaks to him and asks him a question he cannot answer. Who are you?
"I - I do not know who I am. Where is this place? Can you help me?"

Flux:
Flux looks down at the new hole he is responsible for and sighs.
I have to find another way of dealing with these situations. Can't keep putting holes in city streets.
As Frostbite puts the finish to the Mad Dog, Flux reaches down to grab MD, hauls him out and returns to normal size.
"Ok, let's take growly to Yu for a makeover," just as they are joined by another person swinging down to them on a line of some sort.
Before much can be said Goldstar flies down with two others in hand that Flux has not seen before, both women.

Bruce....Superhero of San Diego
A bit late for the festivities...
Lands a short distance from the two as they pull their unconscious and squarely defeated opponent from the impression in the pavement.
"I thought you two might have needed a hand.... apparently not."
He is dressed in a body costume that seems like it would blend in with the cityscape at night. The colors of black, steel and concrete can be subtley detected. Above the elbows and knees the costume is tied off with black cord of some sort, the extra length of cord after the knots trail down like streamers. He also wears a half-mask which hides the top and back of his head and his eyes are covered with opaque lenses (enhanced perhaps??). He triggers a button on the rod he is carrying and the grapple line retracts into the rod and the small grapple claw folds up to become the top of the device. It appears seamless.
"I'm Blackout by the way..."

Goldstar to socialite!
Goldstar:
Goldstar suddenly realizes that she didn't introduce her friends to the iceman and his friends!
"This here is Serena," points to the woman in armor with the sword, "and her friend Lily. They're super nice!"
"Hiyas, Blackout! I'm Goldstar!"
A bit later up in the sky, the bronze skinned man says to me, ""I - I do not know who I am. Where is this place? Can you help me?"
"Wow, you too? Maybe we're related some how? I mean, the skin color is similar and we don't know much about ourselves! Come on and meet my friends! Maybe they'll know something about us!"
With that Goldstar will offer her hand to the bronze man and lead him back to the others.
"Hey everyone! This man doesn't know anything about himself either. Do any of you recognize him?"

Lily Pak
Lily:
Lily nods at Goldstar's reply, but Serena's healing ability brings the winged woman around. Immediately, she and Goldstar become antagonistic, leading Lily to back up a couple steps. Despite the dangerous situation, the 'blond bimbo' line brings a smirk to Lily's lips. Fortunately, the winged woman chooses to fly away rather than fight, so Lily starts to breathe again, having realized that she was holding her breath.
Unfortunately, even with that woman gone, the danger is not past. A loud roar announces the return of the red-skinned man - apparently a (possibly former) teammate of the green armor guy. Thankfully, Goldstar scoops her and Serena up and they fly away. Lily can't help but wonder how much damage the raging man is likely to do to the mall in their absence, but Lily has come to believe that lives are more valuable than property, and the mall looked pretty vacant at this point.
As they fly to where the others are, Lily can't help but notice the unusually-dressed men. They are garbed as superhumans, and for a moment Lily wonders what she is doing with them. However, she quickly recalls all the strange things that have happened with her this morning, and it occurs to her that she seems to have joined this particular fraternity without ever desiring to do so.
Goldstar provides introductions in her own inimitable style. "Uh... Hello," Lily says, looking about at the others. Those looking at her see a somewhat-pudgy asian woman of middling height. Brown eyes peer out from a round face framed by straight, shoulder-length black hair. She appears to be in her thirties, and generally dresses conservatively, though with style. Her white floral sundress features pink roses and carnations. A silver chain is draped around her neck, from which dangles a silver cross. Matching earrings and bracelets adorn her ears and wrists. A clutch purse is held in one hand while bags from several of the stores in the mall dangle from the other.
She extends a hand to the dark-clad man. "A pleasure to meet you, Mr. ... Blackout, was it?"

Serena
Serena:
Serena watches cautiously as the red skinned man chases after the Green & Blue Knights. Once she is confident that the madman is far enough away, Serena turns back to the wounded woman Goldstar arrived with. Kneeling down, Serena heals her.
Inexplicably, the woman with silvery wings and ivory skin becomes violent! She's angry at being hurt by Goldstar.
"I can assure you it was an accident...", Serena starts to say. Then the woman screams! It is a strange and forlorn cry that makes Serena feel extremely sleepy. Summoning all of her will power, Serena manages to stay awake.
From there events are a blur to Serena. She's vaguely aware of being picked up and carried away by Goldstar. Thankfully she remembered Serena's instructions from early concerning the red skinned man. Even better, she remembered to bring Lily along as well.
The outside air helps clear Serena's head. By the time they land, Serena is fully awake once more. The Knight finds herself in the company of several unknown individuals. Goldstar seems to know most of them, so they most be on our side.
"Hail and well met, gentleman", Serena announces. "I am Serena, Knight of the Order of the Golden Chalice. Goldstar has spoke to me about some of you. It is a pleasure to finally meet you."
"Alas, there is still danger about. A rampaging strong man with red skin is still loose inside yonder structure. I lack the power to combat such creature alone. Who will join in an attempt to stop this madman?"
Description: Serena stands five foot five in height. Her hair and eyes are brown in color. She wears medieval looking chain mail armor that covers most of her body. Over this she wears a white tabard, a garment that covers her front and back down to her knees, but has no sides. On the front of the tabard is the image of a golden chalice. Her sword belt keeps the tabard in place. On her feet she wears worn knee high brown boots with the cuffs folded down. Large gloves of nearly the same color almost reach her elbows. Serena wears a silvery headband that serves to keep her hair out of her eyes. She is attractive in her own way and those close to her can feel pure goodness radiating from her.
Flux:
Getting crowded again, thinks Flux as Goldstar brings two women with her and points out another man high above them.
Hoisting the Mad Dog over his shoulder, Flux starts to ask Goldstar if she could take the subdued man to the saucer site for security but she is already gone.
I didn't even get a chance to ask if she'd seen any sign of Primus or paramedics on the way.
Flux will look around at all the people down on the street only half hearing the introductions made by Blackout, Lily, and Serena. Serena's attire catches his eye as does her aura of purity but the real grabber is the statement about the red skinned monster-man .
"Oh hel- er, ah I mean that's not good. He recovered far too fast. Let's get this one over to the Silver Avenger quick then head for Red. Does anyone here have medical training? These people might need immediate help."
As Goldstar leads another man down to them Flux notices some resemblence between them. Both have unusual skin of similar hue and they both have no knowledge of themselves.....
Flux is 5' 11' tall normally and weighs between 170 to 180 pounds. His build is more wiry then massive denoting endurance rather than great strength. He stands with a military bearing without being aware of it. Currenty he is wearing camo pants with torn legs slightly bloody and a sleeveless black tee and a plain ski mask.

The flying woman's speed is far greater than his Cloak of Floating's capabilities so he lets her draw him down to the street. Belatedly he notices something that he should have sensed before. This woman was flying without magic! In fact, the only magic he had sensed so far came from his own items and nowhere else.
'She does not know who she is either?? Is this fragment a place for ill people?'
He dismisses that thought as unlikely.
Approaching the ground and landing lightly he smiles at the Goldstar person in thanks.
Awaiting to see if anyone does indeed know him the stranger takes in the people before him, looking each over carefully hoping for a sign of recognition. He stops his regard when his eyes reach Serena. Dimly, a type of familiarity comes over him. This is a person of importance, as shown by the archaic weapons of status and the undeniable purity of her aura, never mind that she is as pale as most of the others. No doubt a member of.....of....the name will not come to him but he is sure of his thought just the same.

Frostbite
After Mad dog is knocked unconcious by Flux and Frostbite, Frostbite looks down at his hands and wonders what other suprises his icy form has instore for him.
"Hope he stays down this time." watching his unmoving body. "Yeah i think that would be wise."
"Hey Blackout, I'm Frostbite. Nice to meet ya."
Goldstar and two unknown women land near by. "Hi Long time no see. Who's your friends?" Frostbite will Listen to everyone in turn and than introduce himself unless he already did.
After listening to Serena's tale, "Oh no, Not him again. Guess we should go deal with him before he recks the joint."
Frostbite stands 5'11 and wieghs about 165 with a medium build. His Features appear to be flash frozen and he has white on white eyes.

Serena:
Serena listens as those around her speak.
"Oh hel- er, ah I mean that's not good. He recovered far too fast. Let's get this one over to the Silver Avenger quick then head for Red. Does anyone here have medical training? These people might need immediate help."
"Oh no, Not him again. Guess we should go deal with him before he wrecks the joint."
Serena spins around and notices all the prone people. The Harpy's scream must have affected more then she had first expected to not have noticed innocent bystanders in need of attention.
"I will do what I can for the injured," Serena vows. "In the meantime, if you gentlemen have had past dealings with this red skinned man, then I would strongly suggest that you renew your relationship before someone gets hurt. Perhaps Goldstar would be kind enough to fly back to where we came from?"
Pausing for a moment, Serena speaks to Goldstar's new friend. "I am sorry, but I have never seen you before. Perhaps I may be able to help your memory with my spells after I have tended to the wounded. Both your memory and Goldstar's."
Excusing herself, Serena steps away from the collection of unusual individuals and towards the nearest prone individual. Serena comes across an ordinary man lying in the street. His style of dress is strange, but then again most things in this strange land are out of the ordinary to Serena.
Bending down, Serena quickly examines the man in an attempt to find what is wrong with him.

GM Notes:
Down the street signs of emergency services can be seen. Numerous police cars, ambulances, paramedic units, and fire trucks are in the area. PRIMUS reinforcement arrives via chopper.
Serena bends down to examine one of the men laying prone on the pavement. To her disappoint she finds no signs of life. Moving on to the next motionless victim, Serena finds this one is also lifeless. In fact, most of the people down will be found to be dead...

Serena:
Sadly, Serena looks away from the man. Gently she reaches up and rolls the man eyes shut.
"I am sorry, my friends, but this man has passed from this plane. He is without life."
Continuing on, Serena finds the next closes person to also be lifeless. And the next, and the next...
"This is truly a tragedy," Serena says fighting back tears of sorrow. "It appears that a great many innocent souls have departed this world today."
Serena will continue to examine those who are down in the hope that some are still alive. It is a hope that becomes dimmer with each lifeless body examined.

Goldstar
Goldstar:
By now, Goldstar is not surprised when no one recognizes her or her bronze skinned friend. "Nope, no one seems to know either of us. Weird huh? I hope it's not contagious!"
Goldstar doesn't dwell on that. When her name comes up once more in regards to carrying people around, Goldstar is more than happy to help out! But she won't simply grab those who want to help out.
"Sure! I'd be happy to take some people to deal with the red meanie! Just hop on me! After I do that, I'll take this shaggy haired man to that nice Silver Avenger fellow for safekeeping. Let's get a move on!"
Goldstar will shift into Neutron Star form once more in anticipation of carrying people back to deal with the red meanie.

Flux:
"Ok who's all going? Blackout you in? That makes for a lot of people for you to hold onto Goldstar. Maybe you could take Mad Dog here up to a Primus chopper first, then come back down?"
If Goldstar agrees Flux will hand MD off to her and wait until she returns, then reduce size for easier pickup. If that seems unworkable then he will still reduce and hop onto Goldstar's shoulder instead.
"Red is very strong, and not in his right mind. Try to stay out of his reach everyone."
( Without meaning to, Flux is speaking like a sgt. to enlisted personel. He just can't help it.)

The many strange sights before the bronze skinned man threaten to overwhelm him; first the people and buildings and now flying vehicles approaching that do not make sense.
He concentrates on the presense of Serena, Knight of the Golden Chalice who radiates comfort both from her pure aura and the magic she posseses. This calms him enough for him to pay attention to what is being said all around him and to sort it out in order of importance.
One thing is becoming clear. There has been an attack on this city of some sort.
Perhaps he can help with that until Serena is free to assist him.
" I too will go with you. My magic seems to be limited but I will uphold order to the best of my ability"

BLACKOUT:
After making introductions all the way around and listening to the issue of an apparent loose end that needs tieing up, he looks over at Flux and nods, "I'm in."
If he can use his grappel line to get to the whereabouts of the red skinned rampager (or even in the general vicinity) then he will trigger the concealed button to release the grapple line and swing off in that direction. Otherwise he will have to catch the "Goldstar express."

Goldstars flying express!
Goldstar giggles when Flux seems concerned over her carrying capacity.
"I can handle it. In Neutron Star from I can carry over fifty thousand pounds!"
Goldstar will easily take up Mad Dog's snoozing form. She'll get a firm grip on the scruff of his neck.
"Okay, who's coming along?"
