Here's the synopsis for the Adventure that introduced Dr. Williams and Edgar:

The Great Iridium Con:

The Vigilant respond to an emergency summons from one of their former members, the man known as Epsilon. (Epsilon's powers are psionic in nature. Primarily telepathy and telekinesis.) He left the team shortly after the death of his wife Cyberwoman at the hands of Devilspawn. Since that time he's taken up residence in Iridium Vale, a former mining town in the California desert that's become a hub for several high-tech companies. He functions as the local super, assisted by his partner, a young woman who goes by the name of Serenity.

Epsilon relates that his base of operations was bombed and that Serenity was hospitalized. He needs help and the group obliges. To make things more complicated, the Great Iridium Con is also in full swing. It's a convention featuring superheroes, science fiction shows and movies and things of that nature. (Seems there are quite a few high tech geeks in Iridium Vale!) The team decides to use attending the convention as a cover. Sea Guard remains behind as his water-based powers are of little use in the desert. Given the timeframe, this was most likely Menagerie's first mission.

Epsilon himself is attacked before the heroes can arrive in Iridium Vale and now lies in a coma. Serenity has very little to offer as far as information goes. As the investigation continues, the team becomes aware of what the mystery villains are after. It's a new break through called Deep Scan. The device allows very accurate scans to be taken deep into the Earth. Not only that, but it can create a miniature wormhole between itself and a distant target, allowing instant travel to places deep beneath the Earth. The Deep Scan has detected a strange anomaly deep within the earth. A cave with a strange energy signature in it.

One group of villains seems to be working to steal the Deep Scan. These villains are led by Malastra, whom the older Vigilant members will know is really a member of the Coven and reputedly Devilspawn's nephew. Malastra has learned the dark arts from his aunt. Other villains include Kahless Khan, Futura, and Yeoman.

The inventor of the Deep Scan is tricked into helping the villains steal it. But once they do, they are betrayed by Malastra to the Coven; Devilspawn and her half-brother Firefall. New members to the Coven since they last battled the Vigilant are Supersonic, Sabredance and Oblivia. Kahlass Kahn, Futura, and Yeoman are all captured but the Coven escape thanks to Devilspawn's teleport spell. The heroes recover the Deep Scan unit.

Intrigued by the strange phenomena beneath the Earth, the heroes use the Deep Scan to reach the cavern. In the cavern they find a glowing cloud and pass through it.

The Vigilant find themselves in a very desolate and barren place. Even stranger, the cloud has strangely affected the heroes. Their minds are now in different bodies! This creates some bizarre situations.

The heroes discover a strange spider-shaped temple nearby, along with the skeleton of a gigantic house-sized spider. In short order they discover what appears to be a landing pad. A nearby entrance leads them down into a huge underground base called Alpha Base. (Those familiar with the Q-Link Lost Heroes series will recognize all of this.)

Down inside the base they found a young woman in diabetic shock. They help her recover and she introduces herself as Dr. Mary-Beth Williams. Dr. Williams proceeds to tell the heroes a very strange tale.

They are currently some 700 years in the future that Dr. Williams is trying to prevent from happening. They were approached by a woman named Tesseract who claims she can prevent this future from happening with their help. The gist of the problem is that several hundred years earlier, an energy parasite from space attacked the Earth. Trying to destroy this creature led to the creation of several beings of great power that caused this future to happen. Prevent the parasite from coming to Earth and none of this will happen.

The others who were helping Dr. Williams are all gone now. The Vigilant feel that the only way they can get back home is to finish this mission. Assisting Beth in the base is the AI Edgar.

With the Vigilant's help, a spaceship is repaired and launched. Their destination: the moon! Or more specifically, the Starmist research labs where they were building an experimental Time Ship, Chronos One.

The group penetrates the research station and finds the hanger bay where Chronos One was built. While its long gone, Chronos Two is there. The ship is made operational the group heads out on their quest back into time.

Chronos Two shifts into the past and intercepts the Energy Parasite before it enters Earth's Solar System. By leaving an energy trail behind it, the timeship makes the parasite follow it. Tesseract appears and reveals what is really going on.

The parasite is just a child of its species, lost in time and space and trying to find its way home. Chronos Two will do just that. The energy stream being released is altered to the child's taste, ensuring that it will follows the time ship. A plan is quickly formulated to carry off this mission. The Time Shift flies back towards Earth and back into time. Once the Vigilant's proper place in time is reached, the team and Mary-Beth will use the escape pod. Edgar will continue to pilot Chronos Two, essentially back to the creation of the universe where the child belongs. A small portion of Edgar is downloaded into a storage device and goes with the team.

Tesseract also mentions to Menagerie that, “I told you that we’d meet again.”

The plan appears to succeed. The escape pod is launched and the Vigilant arrive just off the San Diego shore within hours have having left for the future. Dr. Williams is grateful to be back in her own proper time. She continues her medical practice and starts a clinc with Dr. Alexis Salier in the Starr Building. They secretly work mostly with meta-human patients. Edgar becomes the Vigilant's computer operating system.

That's it!

One thing I find interesting about their current reality is that there exist differences from the original, outside of their own situations. For example, Turbo was a member of the Young Champions in the original reality, but here he's part of The Elite. As far as I can tell, Sea Guard and Powershift never existed in the Crucible world.

Does Major Star exist in the Eternal Vigilance world? Is there a Sanctuary? A Young Champions program? What do the characters know about the world outside San Diego? Lily has been an active hero for a year or two in this world, what other superhumans is she likely to have met in that time?

As I understand it, the original world is the one where all of the posted fanfiction stories occured. Do those characters exist here? Have those events?

The two realties are very similar to each other. (They should be as the recent reset was not something I originallly planned for!)

Turbo was a member of the Young Champions, but now is a member of the Elite. That was something that was planned back before Crucible ever begain. The adventure where this occured happened between the last issue of YC and where we are at now. It'll be covered in the Spoilers for Young Champions if and when I get to it.

In fact, there was a offhanded reference to it wasy back in Crucible #24 in a post by Nemesis. That went something like this:

Seeing Rose fly around, Jennifer can't help but smile at the flying tike. "Wow! I've never seen someone so young with super powers. Boy, Ms. Pak, you have my sympathy. I hope she turns out better than Turbo did."

A curious expression appears on her face. "Who is Turbo, and what happened with him?"

"Turbo was another member of the Young Champions until he quit. He was a hyperactive mutant and a speedster. However is body aged twice as fast as normal. So while he was only ten years old, he looked like he was twenty. Unfortunately, his intellect just advanced like normal, so he was a ten year old inside the body of a twenty year old."

"His parents couldn't deal with him any more and ask Sanctuary to care for him. They accepted and things seemed okay for a time. Turbo even bonded with a caretaker on Sanctuary who also had superspeed."

"Turbo was something of a brat and never really got along with anyone or followed orders all that much. He abandoned the team while we were in El Paso and fell into the wrong sort of crowd. I'm not sure what happened to him after that."

Essentially the Elite had their appearance in X-Factor in Los Angeles, had an unpublished appearance in Young Champions in El Paso, and then they appeared next in San Diego. Pheoenx is also from El Paso and she appeared in the Superior Seven mini-series as did the rest of the Rat Pack, some of whom are now members of the Elite.

This is the first time I've ever used Sea Guard before. We've used Powershift before, but this is his first real appearance in the current stuff. I don't believe he appeared in any files before, but was mentioned a few times in the time line. So both are pretty much new.

When it came time to fill up the roster of a hero team we didn't have before, it made sense to use some characters that existed but we hadn't used as of yet, such as Powerfshift.

Yes to all the above. The current world is the now the same as the written stuff on the website. The previous world was one that was very close, but not exact. Major Star, Goldstar, Sanctuary, & Young Champions all exist.

The Vigilant was involved in the GSVC, so they met many other heroes. Powershift was kidnapped as part of it. So they've met the X-Factor, the Guardians, some members of the Defenders, but probably not the team just yet, the Protectors, and so on.

That clear things up?

Mad,

In moving to this current reality, I think we discussed at some point whether Rose would have any of the powers displayed in the previous two realities. However, I don't recall what we decided on that. Do you? My suspicion is that she may or may not get them at some time in the future, but that they haven't manifested yet. Does that sound like what we decided?

Working from memory, it seems like she demonstrated some weak, orange-colored, energy powers in the original Crucible reality. Then, in the interim reality, she had the incredible Cosmic Girl powers while twinned with Blossom. Things have been going so fast and furious since reaching the Eternal Vigilance reality that we really haven't had a chance to explore this facet yet.

At a minimum, I'm assuming that Lily had a scene at some point in this timeline after she discovered her powers kind of like the original one where she contacted Sanctuary to learn about the organization. She probably hasn't actually been there yet, or she probably would have learned to mimic the supers there - unless she went during the period where she thought she was limited to copying animals and didn't realize she could copy people as well.

I'm also not quite sure what was decided, but my own take was that Rose, at least up until now, was just a normal girl. It is possible that she might gain powers later as she matured, but that'd be in the future and pretty much beyond what would occur in game. From the original Rose's perspective, she'd would have wanted to grow up a normal kid before gaining any powers, much like the current Stargirl.

So to sum up she's normal right now and I really didn't plan on her getting powers anytime soon if at all.

No kidding. This game has been running for about 5 years, and we've only covered what, about 3 days so far?

So unless she's exposed to something like the White Event again, I won't be expecting Rose (or Lance) to suddenly sprout powers.
