Forum Upgrade!

Post by Spectrum »

As you've probably noticed, we've upgraded the forum to the newest version of the software. Everything has been transferred from the old forum to here, so all your accounts and passwords are still good. The only issue has been with avatars thus far. The default was smaller then our regular avatars, so it shrunk them down in the transfer. I've uploaded most of them to the gallery, so you can swap your avatar for a full sized once.

Selecte User Control Panel and go to your profile and edit your avatar. Select gallery and there will be 2 sections: Champs for those Champions related avatars and Dad for D&D avatars.

Let me know if you have any problems. In the mean time I'll work on getting the rest of this thing working correctly.

Wow, that was a fast trial period... :P

PS, logging in to post is a little less straightforward. For one thing, you can't right-click on the Reply button and open it in a separate window. Also, clicking Back on my browser often gives an expired page message. Can't find an enlarged pic of Taylor and Cora in the avatar gallery, so I guess they'll remain tiny.

Yeah, it was. I checked with Steven and he liked it with the exception of the smaller avatars which is fixable, and it grew on me since I posted that message. There are many extra features, some of which are administrator level only, that I like.

Yeah, you've got to keep going forward with this version, no going back.

I've got backup copies of your avatar, Gordon and I'll upload a correct size version for you in a moment.

Mad-man,

This seemed like a good time to do so, so I have created an account specifically for Menagerie. (Of course, this means the chances of FancherGW ever reaching the next posting level just went way down.) Anyway, would you be willing to cut the head off of her picture and make an avatar of it?

I've already got one ready. The same mini-pic used for her on the Crucible Gallery page is the same as the avatar size. I'll just need to upload it to complete. And the avatar is added!

Any special rank you want for her, Gordon?

Cool!

How about we go with "Friendly neighborhood metamorph"?

Hey gang,

From the looks of it, we're not going to be using the old forum as an archive. Instead, we'll just keep all those posts here. The old forum is acting wonky anyway. If you try to log in to it, you'll end up in the new forum, even though it's at a completely different web address!

One of the new things that I can do is reassign a post to another user. I did that yesterday to bring Validar's last WOW post onto this forum. So I can go back into some of the old game posts and correct those few times where a character was posted by the wrong user name and make them correct.

Gordon, this also means that all those posts you did under your main name for Menagerie, Grondar, and Kylie can be changed those user names. Let me know if you'd like that or not.

That is all for now.

Sure, go ahead, though I suspect this will reduce the post count for my main name to below that of even Musketeer!

Well, you'll just have to make up for it in other topics! One of the new things that exist on the Administrator/Moderator level is an Information button with each post. Chosing that button, along with other things, gives me the option of assigning the post to a different user.

That change overs will be done on as I come across them, so it'll be slow process. Sitting down and pouring through every post to make those changes does not sound like fun!

Heck, if it's that much trouble, don't bother. I was assuming that you'd just write some sort of script or SQL query and let it do the work. Otherwise, it's way too much hassle.

I've managed to restore the links to the supplemental pages to the top of the pages. We're working on a new graphic to replace the old HH logo, one that'll fit into the size we have available.

After many many years of putting it off, I've finally upgraded the forum to the current version. This skips about twenty updates or so! Let me know if anyone has any problems

The Search Function and PM's also seem to work once again!

All the smilies are working too! :D
