Eternal Vigilance #77 - "To Infinity Exports and Beyond!"

Roll Call: Flux, Menagerie, Tesla, Eldrich, Frostbite, Powershift, Sea Guard & Purple Phlox

It is the aftermath of the defeat of Morjok. The alien mage was attempting to convert Earth's dimension into his own, creating a realm where magic held sway. He failed. The event did attract the attention of several other mages, thinking that it was a source of power they could tap. The Magus and the White Witch used the energy to revert Black Paladin and Lady Bale back to their true selves. The two couples joined forces to create the Dark Masters. With the magical energy gone, they withdrew from the battlefield. The beastly Gargoyle leaps off with the unconscious Morjok in tow.

"That's probably my cue to leave too," the Purple Phlox says. "At least this all turned out for the beast. Take care." With that, the Purple Phlox vanishes in a puff of purplish fire.

Frostbite cuts out, saying that he wants to go see Gloria back at the Starr Building. Flux then starts to get reports in from Edgar, required Gloria's transformation into Stargirl and that the Infinity Exports rig has exploded!
Flux wrote:*Understood Edgar. Contact the Harbor police and the Coast Guard. Inform them of the situation and to send rescue craft. I'm inbound to the site. Stargirl will be all right. Nothing to worry about there. Have Dr. Williams explain it to her.*
"Understood, sir." Edgar responds.
Flux wrote:"Sorry team. New emergency. Rescue mission in the bay. Collapsing oil platform. Form up on me I know the place."
Of those present, only Sea Guard doesn't have the ability to fly. The group flies off into the night sky, heading towards the ocean.

Roll Call: Blackout & Lavender

Elsewhere in the city, Blackout and Lavender were just reunited. Lavender reveals her history and some of her concerns about the Infinity Exports bunker underneath the rig. On the surface Infinity Exports appeared to be just another import/export company. But they were actually trafficking goods across dimensions! A dimensional portal is located in their bunker, on the ocean floor underneath the rig. According to Lavender, the portal appeared to be overloading and on the verge of exploding!
Blackout wrote:"Then we should probably go to the Starr building and try to get in touch with Flux," Blackout declares. "We can tell him what you know and of the possibilities. I don't know if we'll be able to investigate further, although that tech would probably be extremely beneficial. Either way, more of the good guys will be in the know."
Blackout throws his line out, and begins the task of swinging to the nearby Starr Building. He offers to take Lavender with him.

Roll Call: Tilt-A-Whirl

Also in the downtown area, Tilt-A-Whirl is racing through the streets. Her evening has been eventful, including her encounters with Turbo and Dash, seeing fireworks with Menagerie, and then later chasing the odd 'doggy' through the streets. But now she's on her way home.

Tilt notices movement overhead. Looking up she see's Tesla flying overhead, her electricity lighting up the night sky. With her is Flux in giant form, along with Eldrich, Powershift, Goldstar and Sea Guard.

Roll Call: Backlash, Blackout, Frostbite, & Stargirl

At the Starr Building Backlash and Dr. Mary-Beth Williams have discovered that Gloria Starr has changed into Stargirl. Mysteriously, this change doesn't seem to be much of surprise. Dr. Williams even provides Gloria with some information on her heritage, that her mother is actually Goldstar and that they share the same powers.
Stargirl wrote:A though comes to Gloria's mind and she turns towards Dr. Williams. "How come you know so much? How did you know that I was Stargirl?"
"I work for your mom," Dr. Williams answers. "She informed me that your powers would eventually manifest. They just weren't supposed to show up this soon."

After a moment's thought, Dr. Williams says to Edgar, "Edgar, we better contact Goldstar and inform her about what happened. I'm sure that she'll be interested in it."

"Right away, ma'am," Edgar answers.

Not long after that, Blackout arrives with Lavender. Backlash met Lavender earlier this evening, but she should be a stranger to Stargirl and Dr. Williams, as they never met. And yet it's not.

Blackout reveals more info about the situation at Infinity Exports. Edgar passes this data on to Flux.

Frostbite arrives as well and isn't greatly surprised to see the change in Gloria.

Roll Call: Flux, Menagerie, Tesla, Eldrich, Powershift, & Sea Guard

As the team flies along, Edgar contacts Flux over the HUD with new information courtesy of Blackout and Lavender. There is a bunker underneath the converted oilrig on the ocean floor. Down in this bunker is where the Portal Device is located. Infinity Exports used this portal to plunder goods from across the dimensions. The werewolf-like creature spotted earlier in the evening was actually a hunter from another dimension. It seems that the portal was working towards an overload, and that would be the cause of the explosion. There is the possibly of technology and devices from other dimensions at the location.

The Infinity Exports rig is reached in short order. It is about five miles off shore. Part of it is on fire, making the whole very easy to find at night. Numerous small boats are in the water trying to get away from the rig. Fortunately, with it being a holiday weekend, there wasn't a full compliment of workers present.

As the heroes get closer, the rig buckles and begins to collapse into the ocean. While this is a disaster to be sure, there doesn't seem to be anything overly weird going on. At least from what you can see thus far.

GM Notes:

I should remind everyone that in this reality, or rather the reality we've been in since the change to Eternal Vigilance, that Frostbite, Blackout, Tilt-A-Whirl, and Eldrich are not actually members of the Vigilant, officially at least. The base team is currently Flux, Menagerie, Tesla, Backlash, Powershift, and Sea Guard. Goldstar is generally considered to be retired from the team, but that's mostly because she's off world most of the time with Starguard business.

There are apartments for the team in the Starr Building, if you wish to make use of them. The offices of Vigilance Incorporated, a security system firm are also in the Starr Building, along with Dr. William's clinic. The Starr's live in the penthouse suite of the Starr Building. There are also living quarters at the Sea Base for those who wish to make use of them. Sea Guard lives at the Sea Base, as it gives him more privacy since he doesn't have a secret identity. Powershift has an apartment in the Starr Building.

Now what?

I'm a bit confused. On March 1st, you posted the bit below (bolding added by me). However, now it sounds like this is not the case, as we're off to deal with another crisis on the night of July 4th.
GM Mad wrote:We're now back to the point just before the doubles first appeared. The later posts were lifted from posts #67 & 68. You can remember what you wish to remember of the time of the doubles or simply ignore it. Your call.

The rest of the July 4th will pass without incident. Likewise there will be no trouble on the 5th or the 6th, which will advance us to Monday, which is the 7th of July. Of course you may do things during this time, there just won't be any crisis that demands the Vigilante's attention. Those who actually have jobs will have to go to work on Monday.

Just the case of wrapping up loose ends, as the situation at Infinit Exports was already in play and it was mentioned before the doubles appeared earlier. I guess what I meant was that nothing new would arise during the next few days, but things already in motion would still be happening. I don't foresee the situation at IE taking any great amount of time to resolve, so it's not like you'll all be dragged into any long adventure just yet.

Flux will do just as he says , grasping and bracing the platform while still in giant form.

"I did say firmly that ALL you alternate realities should behave for the next forty-eight hours, now clearly this one is NOT LISTENING! There shall be a sternly-worded protest lodged right where it will do the most good, count on it."

Actually, if this is the worst aftermath to come out of all the weirdness I won't kick too much. It could have been, and was, so much worse.

Eldrich Arcane

Eldrich accepts the offer of a 'lift' from the giant. The Cloak of Floating is just that and nothing more.

The sight of a crude looking set of poles and platform standing in the harbor of this City of Wonders, aflame and toppling is amazing to him. Such a thing is not known to exist in his Realm partly of course because oceans no longer exist there.

Eldrich will Step closer to the platform, seeking inhabitants for rescue.

Stargirl:
"I work for your mom," Dr. Williams answers. "She informed me that your powers would eventually manifest. They just weren't supposed to show up this soon."
“Oh,” Gloria says in realization. “I guess that makes sense. I guess I shouldn’t leap to conclusions.”
After a moment's thought, Dr. Williams says to Edgar, "Edgar, we better contact Goldstar and inform her about what happened. I'm sure that she'll be interested in it."

"Right away, ma'am," Edgar answers.
“Probably a good idea,” Gloria adds. Mom always knew what to do when there was a problem before. Why should this be any different?

While waiting for the others to arrive, Gloria goes over a mirror and checks her outfit out. It’s form fitting and actually seems to be a two-tone one-piece jump suit.

“Not bad…”, Gloria mumbles. “I wonder if it comes any other colors?”

While examining the outfit, Gloria realizes that it doesn’t have a zipper! How the heck did she get into it to begin with? Oh wait, it just appeared on her, so perhaps she can make it disappear. That makes sense but how can she do that? Gloria will close her eyes and concentrate, trying to make the outfit go away and secretly hoping that it if does vanish, she’ll still have clothes on!

Blackout arrives with someone called Lavender. Both should be strangers to Gloria, but they’re not. They’re not friends either, rather just people she’s met, but when she cannot recall. She’ll listen to their tale, but not really have anything to add. This information is passed on to the rest of the group.

Finally Frosty arrives.

“Hi! Surprised to see me like this,” Gloria will say.

Lavender:
Blackout will see if Lavender would like to join him on a swing line for two across the city as they make their way to the Starr building.
“Uhm, okay,” Lavender will say. She trusts Blackout, but isn’t so keen on the swinging idea, but what the hey!

Once at their destination, Lavender will tell what she knows when asked. Otherwise, she keeps quiet and stays near Blackout.

Blackout reveals more info about the situation at Infinity Exports. Edgar passes this data on to Flux.

Frostbite arrives as well and isn't greatly surprised to see the change in Gloria.

Finally Frosty arrives.
“Hi! Surprised to see me like this,” Gloria will say.

“Gloria? Why are you dressed like that? It does look good on you.” but strangely it seems normal to him in a sense.
Seeing the change in Gloria, Frosty looks for a moment, though somehow it seems right to him. As he approached he heard the words of Infinity Exports…

“What is happening at Infinity Exports? My Father works there.” Not even bothering to stop and say goodbye, Frosty Hauls butt to the Infinity Exports, Hoping that his father isn’t working…

I know, really weird, but according to the Doc I’m Stargirl and this wasn’t supposed to happen yet. My mom is Goldstar, which I guess makes sense. You don’t think this makes my butt look fat, do you?”

“Hey, back off—“, Lavender starts to say but then realizes that she said something like this before. Or at least she thought she did. “—dog breath?”

“I didn’t to kidnap you. I tried to recover the fuzzy wuzzy before it could do any harm and you got in the way. I was just doing what my boss told me to do. But I have new boss now, so you don’t have anything to worry about.”
Dog Breath wrote:Upon hearing about Infinity Exports and there apparent troubles Lash with ask, “Have they transported anything Dangerous here? What was that fur ball thing we fought? Whose responsible for its actions?” he asks Lavender considering she tried to up duct them.
“Nothing that I am aware of. Fuzzy wuzzy was a hunter from another dimension who escaped to go on a private hunt. That’s why we were trying to find him. I’m assuming that those responsible for this all went up when the place exploded.”

Lavender doesn’t trust this guy one bit, especially after the threats. At the first sign of an attack, she’ll teleport back to the roof they just left with Blackout.

"Well, I'm not officially one of you either," Blackout states simply, "but we have some information that Flux and the rest of you might find useful."

Lavender tries explaining the situation, but it appears Backlash is wary. Given everything that has been going on, Blackout can understand. He doesn't have an immediate answer to Backlash's next question.
Looking at Blackout…. “What’s changed that you trust her? And why bring her here of all places?”
"I can't really explain it," Blackout says, "it's like things happened that I can't keep track of, or maybe they never happened... Regardless of the whys of it all, I have a gut feeling that I can trust her and so I am. Don't worry, we won't be staying so you don't have to worry about compromised security or anything. The information about Infinity Exports is all I wanted to share considering we're all heroes here."

After Blackout passes on the information, he looks to Lavender, "Let's get going. Once all this is settled down, I'm sure everyone will be more civil."

Blackout will use his swingline again, even though Lavender didn't seem too overly thrilled the first time, to return to his private residence. Once she's seen it, he's pretty sure they can use her teleporting power to exit and return from then on.

It's doubtful any of Tesla's powers are going to be overly helpful in this situation, but the flying heroine can definitely rescue anyone that needs it. She will circle the platform from the air looking for anyone trapped or unable to make an escape on their own and swoop in and pick them up.

Gargoyle shakes a fist at the air where Black Paladin had been standing just a moment before and bellows

"COME BACK HERE AND FIGHT LIKE A MAN!!"

Fuming, he grabs Morjak's unconscious form by the ankle and sighs, "GUESS THIS PARTY'S OVER!" before leaping away with his prisoner. As he makes his way to the rendezvous point, Gargy will pause on occasion to smack Morjok on the pavement or into a street light just to be sure he remains unconscious. One opponent has slipped through his fingers tonight, if he were to return empty handed Rackham would never let him live it down.

Over the following days Gargoyle will spend much of his time watching TV and being obnoxious to anyone at Primus unlucky enough to cross his path. He'll be particularly persistent with Rackham in hopes of being told to go patrol the city just to blow that popsicle stand for a while.

She runs off towards home thinking of the excitement she had, even though a lot of it was just a blur. Tilt smiles to herself though knowing this won't be the last of her adventures.

"Here we go again," Lily says, fatigue straining her voice. Since Flux picks up the Eldrich guy, Lily will shift to Goldstar form and offer Sea Guard a ride. Considering that this problem is out at sea, he may prove to be the most important member of the team for this job!

Flying toward the Infinity Exports base, Lily notes that it appears to be on fire. This makes it easier to see the area, as it is quite late at night now. Many boats are fleeing the rig, though it may be that more people are still stuck inside or on the platform.
Flux wrote:"Menagerie, expand to giant size, follow me. We're going to brace up the rig. Use your flight power to help keep it stable."
"You got it!" After dropping Sea Guard off wherever he thinks he can do the most good, Menagerie shifts to a copy of their fearless leader, then grows to maximum size and density. Then, she flies down to help in supporting the structure from the opposite side.

Roll Call: Gargoyle

The beastly Gargoyle returns to the PRIMUS Base with the battered Morjok in tow. PRIMUS Agents take the prisoner away, while Gargoyle starts to lumber off towards his quarters. Silver Avenger Gregory Rackham intercepts the man beast first.

“You’re not done yet, gruesome!” The patriotically clad agent calls out. “Report to the helipad, ASAP! You’re going for a skinny dip!”

A helicopter is waiting for Gargoyle there and it takes off once he’s on board. During the flight, agents install a communications HUD to Gargoyle. The HUD has a built in camera and microphone. Those back at the PRIMUS base can see and hear what Gargoyle sees and hears. A com-check is performed and the device is working perfectly. An air tank and scuba mask are provided as well.

The ‘copter joins other copters as they fly out over the ocean with Major Star himself in the lead. A pinpoint of light can be seen off in the distance. Something is on fire!

Roll Call: Backlash, Blackout, Frostbite, Stargirl, & Lavender

At the Starr Building, Blackout has arrived with Lavender. The presence of Lavender concerns Backlash and things are tense. After Blackout reveals what he’s learned about Infinity Exports, he and Lavender depart once more. Blackout takes Lavender back to his apartment without incident.

Frostbite checks up on Gloria and discovers that she’s been transformed into Stargirl. Gloria discovers that by concentrating on it, she can change back into her regular clothes and into her Stargirl costume at will.

Edgar reports that Flux and the others have been delayed as they have gone to investigate the Infinity Exports Rig. When he hears about the situation at Infinity Exports Frostbite is ready to rush off to investigate on his own, until stopped by Stargirl. She points out that his father was at home today and that he should just call home first before running off halfcocked.

Roll Call: Tilt-A-Whirl

Elsewhere in San Diego, Tilt-A-Whirl arrives at her home. The lights are still on and she can see her mom pacing. It would be childishly easy to slip past her and reach your room without your Mom noticing.

Roll Call: Flux, Menagerie, Tesla, Eldrich, Powershift, & Sea Guard

Five miles out to sea, the Vigilant has arrived at the converted Oil Rig. The well under the rig dried up years ago and the platform fell into disuse. Later it was purchased by Infinity Exports to use as a shipping facility. Cargo ship simply docked here, instead of going into port.

But unknown to most, a vast network of caverns were discovered underneath the rig. The drilling mechanism was replaced with a huge industrial elevator and an undersea/underground complex was created below. It was down here where the dimensional portal was built and the dark side of IE was unleashed across multiple dimensions.

As the heroes arrive on the scene, they can see the rig beginning to collapse. The explosions have made it unstable and the supports can no longer keep it upright. Flux grows to giant-sized and urges Menagerie to do the same. The two giants move in to shore up the wobbly rig. It takes all their strength to keep the rig stable.

Menagerie drops off sea Guard and he disappears under the water, saying that he’ll investigate what’s down below. Powershift has recovered nicely from having his jewel forcibly removed from his chest. He flies in and under the rig, helping Flux and Menagerie keep it stable with his own great strength.

Eldrich and Tesla enter the rig itself in search of those who need aid. They find a few stragglers, but for the most part the rig has already been abandoned. With it being a holiday, only a handful of men are on the rig. They are quickly taken to the life rafts.

The strain of holding up the rig quickly becomes too much and the heroes are forced to let it go. The rig creates a huge splash as it hits, but everyone is safely away from it.

Sea Guard surfaces to report his findings. “The explosion came from underneath the rig. There’s some kind of underwater base down there. A central lift connected it to the rig. The explosion seems to have come from down there. It rose up, destroying the central shaft and kicking out the rig’s supports until it collapsed. I can see that there is a great deal of flooding down there but there may still be air pockets with people trapped and injured.”

It’s around this time that the heroes note a squad of PRIMUS Helicopter’s arriving on the scene. Major Star himself leads them. The Major flies closer to Flux’s position.

“Thank you for your assistance, but this is a PRIMUS matter now. You are dismissed.”

Should Flux object, Major Star will stress that, “This matter is none of your concern. Go home. Enjoy the weekend.”

You get the sense that the Major is being very serious about this.

Roll Call: Gargoyle

As the Helicopters fly towards their destination, Silver Avenger Rackham fills Gargoyle in on the mission details over the headset.

“Pay attention, Gruesome as I’m only going to say this once. Infinity Exports is up to something no good. They’ve got a secret complex underneath the rig. We’ve had an undercover agent investigating them for weeks now. Agent Thompson reports that they’ve got some sort of machine down there that allows access to other dimensions. They are raiding these other dimensions for goods and valuables that they are selling here and in other dimensions.”

“We were getting ready to raid them when an explosion occurred in the secret complex. We’ve lost contact with Agent Thompson. Your mission is to infiltrate the complex, find out what is going on, rescue Agent Thompson and neutralize any threats.”

The helicopters reach their destination and Gargoyle can see Major Star conversing with the local heroes, the Vigilant. Go is given and Gargoyle steps out of the helicopter and plummets to the ocean below. He hits the water creating a tremendous splash and plummets to the bottom like a brick. Once on the seabed, Gargoyle activates his light, illuminating the inky depths. He is directed to move towards the complex.

“Agent Thompson managed to map out most of the complex. Our guess is that it was the dimensional portal that exploded. We’re going to bring you in at the airlock the furthest away from the blast zone. It should be intact.

As Gargoyle trudges along he can see a few lights here and there illuminating the complex. The location of the airlock is reached, but it has been buried by rubble. It’ll have to be dug out first.

Gargoyle

Post by Gargoyle »

The gargantuan Gargoyle lumbers to a halt when the Silver Avenger bars his way.
“You’re not done yet, gruesome!” The patriotically clad agent calls out. “Report to the helipad, ASAP! You’re going for a skinny dip!”
“I DON’T KNOW HOW TA BREAK THIS TO YA RACKHAM, BUT YA AIN’T MY TYPE!” Gargoyle retorts as he adjusts his course and heads for the helipad.

Throughout the flight Gargoyle is somewhat preoccupied with all the buzzing around him, so much so that he fails to notice the lack of land beneath the chopper, until one of the agents comes forward with Scuba gear. At the sight of it he leaps to his feet, shaking the copter with his massive weight and bellows into the microphone:

“YOU WERE SERIOUS?!? YOU WANT ME TA GO DOWN THERE!?! DO I LOOK LIKE A FRIGGEN FISH TA YOU!?! WELL I HOPE THIS PUPPY’S GOT ONE HECK OF A WHINCH ON IT CAUSE IN CASE YA HAVEN’T NOTICED I’M EXACTLY WHAT’CHA MIGHT CALL BUOYANT!!”

When given the go Gargoyle pauses to remark over his shoulder, ”YA KNOW, THIS PROBABLY AIN’T THE SMARTEST THING I’VE EVER DONE!” before affixing his mouth-piece and jumping into the waiting ocean below.

On the seabed Gargy slowly makes his way to the airlock he’s directed to only to find it’s been buried. Surging his strength to +10 he’ll begin clearing away the rubble.

the grand tour.. sort of..

Blackout:
At the Starr Building, Blackout has arrived with Lavender. The presence of Lavender concerns Backlash and things are tense. After Blackout reveals what he’s learned about Infinity Exports, he and Lavender depart once more. Blackout takes Lavender back to his apartment without incident.
"It's not much," Blackout says as he shows Lavender around his apartment having dropped in from the roof and through the back stairs. "Honestly I don't believe I've ever had company, and definitely not any as stunning as yourself," he says the last with a smile.

His apartment looks more like a dojo than a living space, but there's enough furniture to be moderately comfortable. He'll offer Lavender a seat and ask, "So, is there anything you'd like to do or see?"

some R&R..

Post by Tesla »

Tesla:

Eldrich and Tesla enter the rig itself in search of those who need aid. They find a few stragglers, but for the most part the rig has already been abandoned. With it being a holiday, only a handful of men are on the rig. They are quickly taken to the life rafts.

The strain of holding up the rig quickly becomes too much and the heroes are forced to let it go. The rig creates a huge splash as it hits, but everyone is safely away from it.

"We got everybody clear," Tesla reassures Flux.

Tesla is more than happy to let PRIMUS handle things from here on out. She's guessing Flux won't make a big issue about it, but hangs around just in case.

Once everyone is free to do as they please for a little while, Tesla spends her free time working on honing her electrical powers. She finds herself doing that more often than expected once she wakes up from the disturbing dreams she seems to keep having..

Seriously . . . . Going

Flux

This thing is going over. Way too heavy to keep propped up.

*Flux to all Vigilint. This rig is going over soon. Get clear.*

“Thank you for your assistance, but this is a PRIMUS matter now. You are dismissed.”

"It's all yours Major. We've had a long day. Call us if you need anything-but only if it's really necessary please."

*Flux to all. It's a wrap. Well done all. Head for home.*

Flux gives a half salute to the Major Star, drops back to regular size, collects Eldrich, and heads to the base to give him a short tour, introductions all around and a bunk for the night. The memories are all still there for some reason and he wants time to do some sorting so he will depart for home.

Following his usual routine he shrinks , phases and passes underground varying his approach to home each time.

A shower, change of clothes and hefty snack later he feels a bit better though still tired.

And why not? I've been to the end of Time and Space, met myself coming and going, and am now back in the here and now. I should be hungry-and crazy. I'll settle for just hungry and tired anytime. The heck of it is, you'd think after all that I'd at least get the Meaning of Life answer out of it! Ah well. Maybe little bro' has some insight. Depending on how much I tell him. Hmm. Maybe better to let that lie. Yeah that's best. Security and all.

Dave shuffles off to bed, blinking with fatigue.

Must be getting old. Was a time I could save the Multiverse, time travel, fight mystics, prop up oil rigs and still get up at 0600 the next day. Big doin's tomorrow. Picnic. BBQ. Swimming. Got to be fresh . . . can't disappoint . . .

Stargirl:

After calming down Cyrus, Gloria will say goodnight to Backlash and Dr. Williams. She’ll then head up to the apartment to relax. She assumes that Cyrus will be heading on home, so Gloria will ask Edgar if he has any information in his files about her Stargirl form. Surely if this was expected, there should be something!

If so, Gloria will go over those and then try out the powers the files suggest. She’s too excited to sleep with this big change in her life!

“Why not?” Lavender innocently asks. “You never had friends over?”
"Being a hero doesn't really allow you to have what you might consider 'normal' friendships," Blackout explains. "The few people I have known have only been acquantinces at best with the secret identies and stuff we have to consider."

"I guess I've just been so used to solitude that I hadn't really thought about it much, until recently," Blackout continues. "Plus any non-super powered people might find my apartment a bit odd, with the workout gear, spare costumes and weapons laying about."

"Well, this is the kind of thing that you're going to have to get used to I guess," Blackout says. "I told you there was no way I was going to treat you as anything but an equal. Maybe tomorrow we can go spend some time touring the city. I haven't experienced much of it except for rooftops and back alleys."

"I think there's something else you should know," Blackout says after a few minutes of sitting quietly. He stands up and takes her hand to help her up. "There's very few people that know this, but it's only fair to you that I let you in on a secret of mine."

After a moment, he pulls off his mask, which Lavender may or may not have noticed the opaqueness of where eye holes, or at least lenses, should be. He stands before her unmasked, his eyes not focusing on anything and his heart hammering in his chest. "I hope you don't think anything less of me since I can't see you the way normal people do."

Blackout holds his hands a hair's width from either side of her face to show her he knows exactly where she is. "Trust me though when I tell you you are the most beautiful person I have ever 'seen'."

It takes a little be more than finding out your blind to freak me out. To think that you’re this kind to me and can’t even see me just impresses me further.”

Lavender will lean forward and kiss Blackout full on the lips.

“That’s just a taste of what I can do. I’ve been fully trained as a professional companion. I can tend to your every want or need.”

“Since we’re sharing secrets,” Lavender continues, “then I have two minor ones to share with you since you need to know everything about me. Lavender was not my given name. A former owner who favored these color of garments on me gave it to me, and the name stuck. Rihalla was my original name.”

“Lastly, I do have one other minor power that I’ve noticed no one else possessing.”

Lavender’s long black hair will move of it’s own accord; it moves forward and will wrap itself and around the back of Blackout’s neck and lovingly stroke his face.

“Not sure why they gave me that ability, but I can use my hair like another hand.”

If ask what she’d like to do, Lavender will say that some food, a shower, and sleep would be wonderful.

Roll Call: Gargoyle

“I DON’T KNOW HOW TA BREAK THIS TO YA RACKHAM, BUT YA AIN’T MY TYPE!” Gargoyle retorts as he adjusts his course and heads for the helipad.
“I hate to break this to you, but you’re nobodies type!” Silver Avenger Rackham shoots back.
“Of course you’re going down there,” Rackham responds over the headset. “You think I was just talking for the sake of talking? This base needs to be investigated and you’re the most expendable one here, so you get the job.”

Upon reaching the airlock, Gargoyle finds it buried underneath rocks shifted from the explosion. He surges his strength and tosses the debris away in a matter of minutes. The handle to the airlock easily turns with Gargoyle’s great strength. The door is forced open with ease. In fact it was bent just a little bit!

Once inside Gargoyle closes the door once more as best he can. The pumps then kick in and the water is drained away. A small trickle of water continues to leak into the base, but it shouldn’t be any concern for the moment.

After passing through the inner airlock door, the Gargoyle enters the complex itself. The lights are out, but the emergency lights are on, giving the whole an eerie appearance. It’s quiet too, just adding to the apprehension.

Rackham provides the direction to go in and Gargoyle is off. The passage turns and Gargoyle spots something up ahead in the hallway. Someone is lying on the floor. Whoever it is, they are making soft whimpering sounds as if in pain.

Getting closer, Gargoyle can see that it is a man lying on the floor. But he’s not just lying there. Some kind of growth is pinning his arms and legs to the deck! Another growth covers his mouth. Terror can clearly be seen in the man’s eyes and his belly is bulging outwards unnaturally!

Blackout:
“That sounds very lonely,” Lavender quietly answers. “Hiding, keeping secrets from others. Never letting anyone get too close. So why do you do this? Choose to live this way?”
"It's more for security reasons than a choice," Blackout explains. "If villains knew who I was, they could try to hurt me through any regular friends or family I might have. There are a few other types of jobs that make it tough for normal relationships, like police and government, only they're not usually so extreme as us super heroes."
“But that’s the problem right there. I don’t know how to act independent or even as someone’s equal. It’s just not the way I’m wired. Sorry.

“Going out would be great! I haven’t had much of chance to just look around either. All I have is the clothes on my back, so that might be a problem unless you don’t mind going out and mingling dressed like this. It sounds like it could be fun.”
Blackout lets the first part of that lie. It definitely doesn't seem like there is any way to help Lavender, but certainly isn't going to give up trying. Talking about it further right now though will only end up frustrating him, and probably her.

"Well, I don't really have anything here that you could easily wear," Blackout says. "A long coat would be too conspicious, and a bit too warm, in the middle of a California summer. We'll probably get a few looks, but we can definitely go out though if that won't bother you."
“You’re blind?” Lavender says in surprise. “I never would have guessed. How could I think less of you? I was born in an alien lab by giant cockroaches.

"Well it's not something I..." the rest of what Blackout was about to say is lost as her lips meet his. He wraps his arms around her and is lost in the moment. His heart continues to thunder in his chest, but for a different reason now.

"Just a taste and I'm ready to fall completely for you," Blackout finally manages to say, smiling a bit. "Lady, you sure make it hard to concentrate on anything else."
“Since we’re sharing secrets,” Lavender continues, “then I have two minor ones to share with you since you need to know everything about me. Lavender was not my given name. A former owner who favored these color of garments on me gave it to me, and the name stuck. Rihalla was my original name.”
"Rihalla, I like that," Blackout replies.

The sensation is very unique and not at all what Blackout was expecting. The control she has over her hair is flawless and he thinks just how dangerous that could be if she decided to use it as a weapon, luring someone in close. He keeps those thoughts to himself though, and merely says, "Well, that's... different."
If ask what she’d like to do, Lavender will say that some food, a shower, and sleep would be wonderful.
Blackout will show her the rest of his apartment, including where the shower is. He'll get her some towels and make something quick to eat. By the time they're both heading to bed, it's probably really early in the morning.

Menagerie:

The sea platform is massive and the weight incredible. Even Menagerie, Flux and Powershift together can only hold it for a few minutes. By time Flux calls the clear order, Menagerie's muscles are shaking with fatigue. Once they let go, it quickly collapses.
Tesla wrote:"We got everybody clear," Tesla reassures Flux.
"That is good news. Thank you, Tesla," Menagerie says wearily.
Sea Guard wrote:Sea Guard surfaces to report his findings. “The explosion came from underneath the rig. There’s some kind of underwater base down there. A central lift connected it to the rig. I can see that there is a great deal of flooding down there but there may still be air pockets with people trapped and injured.”
"I guess it's once more into the breach." Resignation fills Lily's voice, but before they can act...
Major Star wrote:It’s around this time that the heroes note a squad of PRIMUS Helicopter’s arriving on the scene. Major Star himself leads them. The Major flies closer to Flux’s position.

“Thank you for your assistance, but this is a PRIMUS matter now. You are dismissed.”
Returning to her own form and growing a large pair of wings from her back, Menagerie flies up into the air. "Good to see you again, Major."
Flux wrote:"It's all yours Major. We've had a long day. Call us if you need anything-but only if it's really necessary please."

*Flux to all. It's a wrap. Well done all. Head for home.*
"Don't have to tell me twice. See you Monday." Lily will fly into town in the form of Goldstar, return to her civilian identity in an alley somewhere near some taxis, then flag one down for a ride home.

Once home, Lily collapses into bed. Fortunately, Donny put the kids to bed hours ago. In fact, he's asleep, so she slides into bed without waking him and quickly falls asleep.

Saturday she spends the entire day with her family. Rose has a soccer game in the morning, so they all go to that. Most of the afternoon is consumed by the usual routines of homework and housework. In the evening, they relax with a pile of rented movies and some homemade popcorn.

As usual, they go to church Sunday morning. Later that afternoon, she meets her friend Ginny for shopping and coffee while Donny takes the kids to play with friends. That evening, after the kids have gone to bed, Lily spends some time practicing some of the forms of metahumans she hasn't seen in a while. She's learned from experience that if she doesn't practice them regularly, she can forget the details to the point where she can no longer mimic them effectively. Of course, there are some - such as Firewing - who would be dangerous to practice at home. For those, she typically makes time at least once during the work week to practice at the base.
I'm not better than you. I am you.

Given the length of her hair, it takes Lavender a bit of time to dry off. She’ll pick up after herself and eyes her clothes. No sense on putting those dirty things back on again, so she’ll just go without for now. It’s warm, so she won’t be cold.

After eating, Lavender will pick up the dishes and start to clean and put them away. When it comes time to sleep, she’ll ask, “Where do you want me to sleep?”

“I guess that makes sense,” Lavender answers. “I never really considered myself to be a superhero, but I can adapt. Does that mean I have to get a costume?”
"A costume is an individual prefrence," Blackout says. "You could go with what you already have, accessorize it up a bit or create something completely different. It's usually better to have just one costume to make it easier for the other heroes and the public to begin to identify who you are instead of having to continuosly figure you out each time they see you."

Blackout throws together something easy while Lavender showers. He's aware that she doesn't put her old clothes back on but it doesn't bother him. The meal passes with a little more small talk and then she cleans up as it was the most natural thing for her to do. He shouldn't really be surprised, but it'll take getting used to.
After eating, Lavender will pick up the dishes and start to clean and put them away. When it comes time to sleep, she’ll ask, “Where do you want me to sleep?”
"I've been thinking about that," Blackout answers. "Why don't you go ahead and take the bed tonight. We can talk about things more tomorrow, but I'm sure we're both exhausted." Without another word Blackout strips down and stretches out on the futon. He's too tired to miss the bed much as anywhere horizontal will be just fine right at the moment.

Tesla:

Somewhere between working on her powers and trying to get some sleep around her newest disturbing dreams, Tesla will go and visit her sister. It's been a couple of days so it would be best to check up on her. Even though she has her own place, Tesla feels it to be her responsibility to make sure everything is alright.

She'll pick up some groceries and head over, having to keep her sunglasses on all the time to hide her eyes. Tesla will make sure her sister doesn't presently have any company before making her presence known. Should her sister be alone, Tesla will restock the fridge and find out just what's been going on lately.

Frostbite

After realizing his father probably wasn’t on the platform when it went boom, Frosty thaws out and calls home. Asking whomever was home at the time if they saw the news and see if his father is indeed safe.

Afterward Cyrus will say his goodbyes to Gloria, “I’ll see you late.” Giving her a hug and making his way home.

Upon reaching home Cyrus will hug his father, like he hasn’t seen him in a while. “I saw the news, I thought you were on it. Guess you maybe out of a job, huh?”

Frosty will go upstairs and crash within moments of his head hitting the pillow. And do what teenagers do best, sleep. =D

Backlash

“Dog breath?” somehow it had sounded familiar. Blackout soon explains to his companions being here. After hearing it, I guess it would be okay, but he would still keep a weary eye on her.

As the call comes into retire(,after changing to normal clothes), Backlash looks to the others. “Well that’s my cue. See you ,Whenever.” Backlash will head out on his Harley tearing up the evening streets, turning into a Diner, Lash has a plate or two of eggs and sausages, while checking out the waitresses.

Afterward he will head home, for some reason it seems dark and empty. Turning on the light, his cat meets him at the door then he sits on the couch and flips through his photos of friends and family as well as old girlfriends. “Well, Putz. Looks like it is you and me tonight.” Looking down at the cat while, Putz purrs contently in his lap.

He will go to sleep where he sits and go to the beach the next day working out in the gyms there.
