CR 571 November 21st - 24th
November 21st -
(The Frontier) Fiben and Marith go out to dinner. Perrel and Schar run into some pirates who question his manhood. After Perrel wins a duel, the pirate relents and says that he has restored his honor. Perrel asks for information and learns that those who sail these seas are fearful of Molgada, the Wave Witch. Molgada has been terrorizing the local waters with her pet monster and pirate band. Gloria goes out looking for clothes and a place to play. Padraig and Gloria go to visit the local mage in an attempt to trade spells. Said mage is a man named Beltron, a merchant who cornered the island trade in butter. A servant shoos them both away, saying the mage is busy and cannot be bothered. (TF#157-159)
GM Notes: Molgada and her band were the ones who attacked Farley's Foley a while back and took out the ship that Gloria escaped from.
(Elfquest) Sherwood casts a Magic Mirror spell in an attempt to locate Lilia who is still missing. She was last seen flying off on the barge luring the black dragon away days ago. The scrying attempt meets no success and Lilia cannot be found. After that, the group rides the griffons to the Crystal Platform. Valena instructed the cooshee's to meet the elves there.
Two hours later, the Crystal Platform is reached without incident. A small crowd of beings are waiting there. The center of attention is Jewel who is conversing with the three unicorns while stroking the youngest one. The brownies are there along with numerous treants. Lia challenges Jewel to ensure that she is not a trick or illusion and asks who it was that was first spoken too. This was Lilia who was polymorphed into the form of a normal bird. Jewel answers that it was she who is not here, but near. Upon hearing that, it is decided to free the Mother Tree now. Jewel hands over the House Medallion, the final medallion of the twelve.
The medallions are split up among Kylie, Lia, Nariya and Talen for them to put into place. Laucian and Valena take archery positions up in the trees, while Sherwood stands in the open with Lifeshield in full defense mode. Overhearing the conversation about Lilia and that she might be used against them, Jewel adds the she cannot be harmed, as she too holds the energy given to restore the Mother Tree by Corellon. Jewel does confirm that Lilia is alone.
Slowly the medallions are placed into the proper spot until only one remains. Nariya has it and she places the final medallion into its spot. After what seems a long wait, the middle of the Crystal Platform turns misty and stairs going down are seen. Down below, a tiny leafless and dry tree is seen. Pain and anguish washes over the elves as they realize that this is all that remains of the Mother Tree!
The elves are drawn away from that sad sight by Lady barking. Looking in that direction, they see Lilia dressed all in black approaching. “Shall we see to the Mother Tree?” Lilia asks as the cooshee's bark at her. In that moment, everyone realizes that Moorkroft has possessed the body of Lilia and that her rescue and the recovery of the Hydra and Nymph Medallions was all part of the evil mages plan!
Kylie yells at Moorkroft to get out of Lilia's body, while Sherwood fails to Dispel the magic. Jewel whispers that Kylie she made use of the energy that she and Lilia both hold, the gift of Corellon. Lia, Talen, and Nariya join hands with Kylie so that their energy can be shared and used to fight the demented Archmage. Energy gathers around the four and it lashes out at Lilia and all five chosen seem to be locked in a trance. Jewel announces that the pivotal moment has been reached. A roar from far overhead draws everyone skyward. There, the black dragon has returned but it is being attacked by many rocs! Later the wyvern riders arrive and are attacked by flocks of griffons.
Elsewhere, Lilia feels that she is coming out of a deep sleep, coaxed by the words of Corellon Larethian himself. She awakes in a mindscape and Moorkroft is there too. Kylie, Lia, Nariya, and Talen appear as well, as the Chosen are all linked thanks to the energy that they hold. Jewel whispers that this is a place of will and imagination. Lilia wills a weapon to appear in her hand and with it she strikes down Moorkroft. The others attack in turn and Moorkroft is able to fend two or three of them off, but one of the Chosen is always able to land an open strike. Moorkroft is struck down, and slain in the mindscape.
After Moorkroft falls, Corellon Larethian appears along with Ehlonna riding a unicorn. In the distance, Eillstraee is seen. Corellon tells the elves that they shall all be rewarded. Just meditate before the Mother Tree to receive the reward. However, the Father of All-Elves tells Lilia that he already knows what she desires and grants her wish. Lia request from Eillstraee to become a full blooded drow and her wish is granted.

Re: CR 571 November 21st - 24th
When the elves return to the real world, the black robes that Lilia wore are now gone. In their place is elegant elfin chain mail. She has become a Priestess of Corellon, in addition to her fighter and transmuter skills. Lilia then attempts to give the Star Crown back to Sherwood, but he tells her to keep it. It is an elfin artifact after all.
As the Chosen move to restore the Mother Tree, Jewel warns everyone else to move to a safe distance. Going down below the Crystal platform, the gather around the what they learn is the metaphysical heart of the Mother Tree. The energy is unleashed and the Mother Tree is restored. Each feels weak after the transfer and are barely aware of the ground shaking.
Those watching outside see a flash and the Mother Tree erupts from the ground in a heartbeat. The Crystal Platform is picked up and carried high into the sky on the branches of the Mother Tree. At its full height, the Mother Tree is one thousand feet tall and its branches are like roads.
In the Heart of the Tree, the small tree is now healthy and bears leaves. Normal wooden stairs now lead out of the Heart of the Tree. At the far end of this branch, the Crystal Platform can be seen. It has been restored and glistens in the sunlight. A rainbow streaks in and hits the platform and all those elves sent to restore the Mother Tree are released! Meanwhile, all the elves sleeping in trees in the forest are woken. The elves have returned to the Sylvan Realm!
Lilia goes to greet those arriving by way of the rainbow bridge, explaining to them what has happened, while Kyle finds her mother. Allurien Feador. Allurien is greatly surprised to find Kylie all grown up. The eleven years Allurien spent in the rainbow bridge simply passed in the blink of an eye to her. Lilia suggest that the leaders of each expedition gather so that they can discuss the issues facing them in the Sylvan Realm. As she is now a Priestess of Corellon, Lilia's words carry a greater weight among the elves. They all gather at Golden Peak, the highest point on the Mother Tree. It is at this place that the meeting hall for the Order of the Golden Griffons. The Golden Griffons were an order whose members were elite griffon riders.
Laucian speaks his wish and is rewarded with a griffon mount wearing the barding of the Order of the Golden Griffon. The elfin ranger works to restart this ancient order. Valena makes her wish and in return is given a unicorn mount. The mount, River Blossom, wears the colors of the Order of Silver Maidens, another ancient organization of those elf maidens who have unicorn mounts. Lia learns of the Darksong Knights, those follower of Eillstraee who work here in the Sylvan Realm protecting it from drow attacks and working to bring those who wish it back into the light. Kylie's wish is also granted and she permanently has the ability to Fly. Nariya requests a special magical spear. The spear is called Orcsbane and does greater damage against orcs. Talen eventually decides to honor is drow heritage, but not in the extreme way his sister did. His natural elfin abilities are changed into drow ones. Lastly, Sherwood ask and receives the elfin ability to see in the dark as if it was day.
The elfin leaders meet and there is another Priest of Corellon present, a Chandra Sakar. Much like Lilia, his words carry much weight among the elves. It is decided to launch a preemptive strike against the eleven forts surrounding the Sylvan Realm. Each group of elves will attack a fort. A roc comes close to the peak of the Mother Tree. It informs Valena that the orcs are marching from the forts towards the Mother Tree. The great bird, and others like it will transport the elves to fight the invaders.
The chosen ones along with Valena and Dapple ride on the back of the roc to meet the invaders. Laucian follows along on his griffon along with three other riderless griffons. In short order, the nearest enemy fort is seen. The orcs are already on the march, led by the fire giant and his hell hounds. Six wyvern riders are approaching. As the enemy approaches, Lilia casts Polymorph on herself and flies to meet the enemy along with Kylie. Stun arrows from Laucian and Valena take care of most of the wyvern riders. The roc is attacked and in the process Talen looses his grip and tumbles off along with Dapple. Kylie gives chase, but Lilia saves them with a Feather Fall spell.
With the sky cleared of enemies, the roc lands and the elves prepare to meet the ground force. Ranged, area effects spells are cast and over half of the orc horde is taken out. Hovering overhead on his griffon, Laucian targets the orc leaders and targets them with his arrows. Valena creates an area of Spike Growth to slow the enemy down. The riderless griffons lend their support as they fly in, grab an orc and then drop them from great heights. Only a few orcs survive to actually reach the elves and they are soon put down. The fire giant proves tougher, but he too falls. After the short battle, the group continues on to the enemy fort. The fort is abandoned with the exception of some unarmed orc females huddled in fear in the kitchen. Not having the stomach to slay unarmed enemies, the elves let them take what supplies they can carry and flee back to their home. Information about where their enemies came from is found in the various quarters here in the fort. The fire giant came from a place called the Hellfurnaces to the south. The humans came from a place called Ravens Claw to the east, in the Kingdom of Sunderland. This Sunderland would lie within Vassa. Lastly, the orcs came from Xorg, a place further to the north. After that, the fort is burned to the ground. The group flies back to Golden Peak and along the way they can see that four other forts are currently burning as well. These were all the forts to the north and east of the Mother Tree, as they were the closest ones. Exhausted, the group turns in for the evening. (EQ#28-33)
GM Notes: For the curious, Chandra's story arc was conceived in its entirety before he even ever appeared in game. While some of the details did change, his role in all of this was planned from the start. He was a jerk who thought he knew better than everyone else. He believed he had a grand destiny, and while he did have a destiny, it really wasn't all that grand.
The places noted above come from a wide variety of sources. The Hellfurnaces are from adventure module G3, part of the giants and drow cycle that leads to a confrontation with Lloth herself. Everything related to Vassa and the Witch King come from the Bloodstone series of adventures that introduced the mass combat rules, otherwise known as Battlesystem into the game.

(The Frontier) Fiben and Gomja go out to a pirate bar. Gloria plays the Island Lady. Padraig returns to Beltron to trade spells. Kit vanishes into the Tanaroa populace using her Hat of Disguise. (TF#157-160)
Roster of the Seekers of the Sword: Perrel, Stephanie (PL), Fiben, Finrod, Gloria, Mercy, Padraig, Schar and Tania.
GM Notes: Kit did return later in the game, after the ships had made landfall elsewhere on the journey to reach the Sword of Doom. However, that really didn't make sense that she'd would have done all that traveling, so in this re-telling Kit did not return.
(Elfquest) It is the morning after the return of the Mother Tree. Coming the morning, eight of the enemy forts are burning. The last three are the furthest away to the south. Some of those orcs to the south have reached the elfin forest, mostly negating overhead attacks. Many elves have gone down to the forest floor to deal with this threat. River Blossom tells Valena that she has contacted everyone and let them know what is going on. Lilia prays for her priest spells for the first time and finds herself becoming popular among the elves. Talk turns to setting up a Clan Council and picking a Council Leader and the King or Queen of the Sylvan Realms. Typically the council is made up of a representative from the seven main clans along with the High Keeper of the Mother Tree. The Council Leader tends to deal with matters withing the Sylvan Realm, while the King or Queen deals with events outside the Sylvan Realms. Many here are afraid of Chandra Sakar becoming the King of the Sylvan Realm, as he is from Clan Red Arrow, the warrior clan. Several of the clan leaders are selected, with Lilia representing Clan Grunalf and Allurien Clan Feador.
Sherwood turns up in the morning. He used Lifeshield's ability to Teleport Without Error to find where Moorkroft left the barge. Sherwood plans to start the journey home with the barrage. He's come up to the top of the Mother Tree to say his goodbyes and see if anyone is going back with him. All the elves decide to stay in the Sylvan Realm, at least for now. Lilia tells Sherwood how to perform the “Up and Down Method” using the Spell Engine to travel back to Cynalon in matter of hours instead of the week it took to reach the Sylvan Realm. Sherwood gives Kylie a copy of the Teleport locations for Jallarzi's Estate and Karn's Keep among others. Sherwood then goes back to the barge, has it ride up into the air, and begins his journey back to Cynalon.
Nariya, Valena, Lia, Laucian, and Talen join the orc hunt on the forest floor. Lilia remains at Golden Peak and becomes involved in elfin politics. Kylie stays closer to her mother and starts to learn more about her elfin heritage. After hours of riding along, the elves encounter the orcs near the geysers where they found the griffons. There they find a hundreds of orcs battle other elves, elfin dogs and even centaurs. More griffons are there and those orcs thrown into the air on the water geysers are carried off and dropped. The elves spot a smaller group of orcs moving off back into the forest and try to start fires.
Back at the Mother Tree, Allurien and Kylie inspect the Clan Masters home in Feadiel, Clan Feador's home here in the Sylvan Realm is at the base of the Mother Tree. Allurien tells Kylie about the seven great clans and how they are different from each other. Allurien asks about Lilia as she figures that the top two positions in the Sylvan Realm are between the Priests of Corellon. She would much rather have Lilia become Queen, with Chandra the Council Leader.
The battle with the orcs in the geyser fields last half an hour and the orcs are eliminated. Chandra Sakar is here as well and he rallies the weary elves to continue to hunt down the orcs. “We cannot rest until every single orc in this holy forest has been exterminated!” Nariya and Lia join with Chandra to continue the hunt along with nearly thirty other elves. Laucian and Valena instead help the wounded back to the nearby griffon stable so that they can rest and heal. Later Laucian and Talen return to the Mother Tree and report on the battles to the south and Chandra continuing the fight. Valena remains at the griffons stable to heal the wounded. That night the elves at the Mother Tree celebrate their victory over the orcs.
Several elves approach Laucian about joining the Order of the Golden Griffon. Lilia suggested that Laucian get some fellow griffon riders and scout out the Sylvan Realm from overhead. A few elf maidens inquire about where Valena is as they wish to join the Silver Maidens.
The elves still on the hunt split into smaller groups to hunt down multiple packs of orcs. Nariya leads one such group with Lia. Several other elves are with the two women. A band of orcs is located and an ambush is set up. The band splits into two groups to catch the orcs in a crossfire. During the attack, Lia is attacked by an elf named Theras who is a follower of Shevarash, an elfin demi-god who embodies hatred of the drow. Lia attacks Theras back, but the battle is broken up by the other elves. Theras is stripped of his weapons and tied. Camp is set up for the night out in the wilds. (EQ#33-35)

November 23rd -
(The Frontier) The Seekers open up the stone cube they found on an isolated beach to prevent any damage to their ships. Padraig says the command word and a pair of full sized doors appear. The sigil of Keln is found on the doors. The doors burst open and a horde of bugbears rush out and attack. The front line fighters tear into the bugbears. Padraig throws a Shocking Web into the passageway the bugbears came out of. He catches a pack of Hell Hounds in the webbing and the shock kills them. The webbing then vanishes and Padraig counters by tossing a Cloudkill inside the cube. A behir rushes out of the cube to help the bugbears. After enough bugbears are slain, the rest flee back into the cube and right into the Cloudkill, taking themselves out of the battle. Stephanie attacks the behir and wounds it. A mage further inside the cube throws a Chain Lightning spell on the behir, healing it in the process and the arcs hit all the Seekers of the Sword. Stephanie and Padraig team up to slay the beast. The Seekers decide to press on and not give the enemy a chance to heal and regain spells. The Seekers go through the doors and down a short hallway. At then end of the hallway, there is a small grassy clearing that is outdoors, but where ever this clearing is, it is not on Arret as the sky is green instead of blue. There are nine buildings off of the clearing. There is a grand building opposite the entry way. It has a large metallic doors in the middle and large pillars supporting a large porch. Between each pillar is a twelve foot tall metal statue. The other eight buildings are normal stone structures and most have arrow slits in them. Padraig casts Web into the closest buildings. A volley of arrows are fired at the mage, but his Stoneskin protects him from harm. Stephanie is hit by a swarm of Magic Missiles. In response to this Finrod tosses a Fireball into the building they came from. An Earth Elemental is summoned in the middle of the clearing and a voice calls out that they have Kit and that the Seekers should surrender. Stephanie counters with that if the enemy surrenders, she might let them live. The Seekers methodically deal with the enemy by webbing the buildings and then burning them and holding those who do come out to fight. Mercy and Stephanie take out the earth elemental. In desperation, an enemy priest erects a Blade Barrier. With the enemy down to only one building left, they start to flee. Several foolishly run into the Blade Barrier, while another gets too close to the metallic statues on the front porch of the fancy building. The statues come to life and pound him into pulp! The rest of the enemy surrenders. The surviving priest says that he is an assistant to Har after Mervin drains a level from him. Har himself escaped by using Word of Recall. The archers claim they were forced into service and beg for mercy. (TF#160-167)
GM Notes: As I mentioned earlier, this Stone House was a more advanced design. The original one simply opened up into a pocket dimension that was a collection of rooms. This one opened up into a pocket dimension, but one that was open and not enclosed. There was an 'outside' to it. Har once more appears. He was behind the Siege of Gateway earlier in the year. Har blames the Seekers for his failure and is hunting them and has been for a long time now. But he is also curious about the Sword of Doom and wants it for himself, so he hasn't tried to kill the Seekers just yet. The false Claudius was his operative, but when Seekers realized that something was up with him, he attacked to save himself. That didn't work out to well. The Plan was simply let the Seekers find the Sword of Doom and then defeat them and take their prize. Since that plan has now failed, Har will try a different tactic further down the line.
(Elfquest) Laucian and his applicants for the Order of the Griffon set off on their aerial scouting. They carry with them two elf maidens who wish to see Valena about the Silver Maidens. Valena is currently back at the griffon stable. After a short ride, they griffon riders reach the hidden stable. Chandra tries to recruit Laucian to his way of thinking, but the ranger flatly refuses. Nariya leads her group back with Lia and the elf who attacked her. The lightly wounded elves will begin the journey back to the Mother Tree in the Morning. Laucian and his charges continue on to the south on griffon back. They reach the Elfin Palace and find the armored constructs are inactive. They camp that night in a landing area. (EQ#35)

(EQ#35)

Re: CR 571 November 21st - 24th
November 24th –
(The Frontier) Schar casts Know Alignment on the captured archers and finds that most of them are not evil. Those who are not evil are released into Tanaroa. Fiben and Tania meet Madalyn while out walking in Tanaroa and recruit her. It is discovered that Jalen slipped away after stealing some gold. Maddy gathers her belongings and boards the Endeavor. Fallon runs into Maddy and wonders why Kit abandoned him. Fiben takes up Fallon employment. Thanks to her help in the battle with the enemies inside the stone cube, Stephanie makes Marith a full member of the Seekers. Work starts on Identifying the magic items taken from the Hextorites. (TF#161-168)
Roster of the Seekers of the Sword: Perrel, Stephanie (PL), Fiben, Finrod, Gloria, Madalyn, Marith, Mercy, Padraig, Schar and Tania.
GM Notes: Not all the Seekers were involved in opening up the stone house. Fiben and Tania meeting Maddy, a new player, and the issue with Fallon feeling abandoned were worked into the posts while the rest of the group was in combat. Those actions just worked out to have occurred the next day.
(Elfquest, Sylvan Realm) Valena and those wishing to become Silver Maidens leave the griffon stable and set out for their Order Hall in the wilds of the Sylvan Realm. Many of the elves who took part of the orc hunt begin their walk back to the Mother Tree. Theras, the elf who attacked Lia, escaped during the night. It is suspected that he had help from other elves who hate the drow. Nariya and Lia begin the journey back to the Mother Tree. Laucian and the griffon riders set off towards the nearest enemy fort still standing. Flying over the fort they spot orc women and children inside. The orcs flee for cover upon seeing the griffon riders. The orcs are founded and told to leave the enemy fort. The orcs gather what they can and flee to the south. Once they are gone, the enemy fort is torched.
Flying on to the next fort, the Griffon Riders reach it as night is falling. Lights are spotted in the fort and movement is seen in the guard towers. The griffon riders buzz the towers preparing to attack when they realize that they are being held by elves! A dialogue is started and Laucian learns that the elves here are the ones who were sent to destroy the fort. They found no enemy to fight when the arrived and so decided to hold the fort in case they returned to it. The leader of this band is the warrior Arlen Brightsword. Also in the group is Arlen's younger brother Onas, Tanyl Strongbow a ranger in the service of Solonor Thelandira, the historian Elora Calauth of Labelas Enoreth, the fire mage Gweyr Autumnfire, the songstress Lorelei Spellsong, and Lorsan Olyran, a priest of Tymora. Elora is going over notes similar to the ones Laucian took from the previous fort. He gives this to Elora and she begins to study them. Her reading glasses are a family heirloom that translates any text into elvish, but sometimes the meanings are not clear. Off in the distance another fire is spotted and the final enemy fort is now burning. The two groups spend the night at the fort and enjoy each others company. (EQ#35, SL#1-3)
GM Notes: After an 8 year hiatus, the Elfquest game returned! Given that the quest the elves were on had been completed, I renamed the game The Sylvan Realm. Plots from the old game were continued and new ones added that I had developed over the years and just needed a place to use them. I spent a few days getting plot lines in order before things fell into place. The above group of elves were among the first things that were created in the restart. I am adding the new happenings to the history as they occur. My plan is that once these posts are up to the current day in The Sylvan Realm is that I'll start to fill in those series that I skipped previously.
